1 per family favors

NLeo, on March 18, 2014 at 9:42 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 8

We are thinking of doing spice jars as favors but I'm wondering how to set them out if they are one per family. We are having long banquet tables with no assigned seating. Do I:

A) Set one at every other place setting and assume they will get the ideas that it's one per couple? Families with more than 2 would get extra which seems fair, but then we run into the issue of singles that sit at a place with no jar.

B) Order 1/2 size jars so that everyone gets one? (admittedly, not my favorite idea as this will cost more in jars and take twice as long to make.)

C) Set them somewhere other than the dining tables and have a sign that says something about "Thank you for sharing our day with us. Please take a spice jar for your family". My issue with that is everyone might not notice unless it's either on the gift table or we also have a bar area where the alcohol will be and I could put them there (this is next to the food lines so non-drinkers should see it also).

I'm going to have my favors at a table and put a cute name tag on every one. I know this will take more time but I'm scared if I don't label then, people might take more.

People r really rude/dumb enough to take more than one?? I know I should know better than to be surprised by the stupidity of people but I thought 1 per person was understood! Its a favor, not a free for all.

I think your idea to put them on a table with a sign will work. Perhaps set it near the exit so they can get one on their way out.

Could they be your escort cards? That way you could put both names on the favor along with their table assignment.

Table with sign - not everyone will take one honestly. that's your best way to give everyone a fair at getting one

I would put them on a separate table with a sign, and then label them, "the smith family", "the johnson family", etc.
