1 or 2 photographers?

Katie, on November 29, 2019 at 9:06 PM Posted in Planning 0 17
Trying to decide if 2 photographers is really necessary... what did you do for your wedding? Anyone only have 1 photographer but wish they had 2? Or had 2 and didn't really need the extra?

I think having 2 photographer's is better than having just one because they can get shots that the one photographer may not be able to capture.

We'll be looking into 2 photographers and a videographer. It just depends on how long you'll actually want them. If you're not too worried about additional shots, I would just stick with one.

We had two photographers and two videographers. Both were husband and wife teams. A second photographer enables more photos to be taker. Since we had two photographers the wife came with us ladies while we got ready and her husband went with the guys while they got ready. It worked out really well. If we had only one photographer she would have had to go back and forth and it wouldn't have worked out as well.

A second shooter was a necessity for us. There are some moments where the photographer can clearly only be focused on one angle, such as your walk down the aisle.

I'm a photographer and I honestly feel like being the only photographer has its perks because you dont have to worry about getting in the way of the other photography and that way the photographer can have the list of photos they need to capture and be concentrated on getting them done the way they need to be.

I dont think its necessary to have 2 photographers.

The biggest advantage of two photographers is if you want getting ready photos: you can have one with the men and one with the women. Or if you're having a large reception, such that one photographer can't get around to all the people. Otherwise, one is quite sufficient.

Had 2 and totally worth it! 2nd shooter was only there for about 90 minutes but during key moments, plus the two did a “divide & conquer” since 1 can’t be in multiple places at once.

2nd shooter helps to divide and conquer the getting ready photos, details photos and bride/groom portraits. Additionally, having two photographers better enables the photographer to capture BOTH of your emotions during the ceremony and from multiple vantage points. For example, if your grooms reaction as you walk down the aisle is important, two photographers are more likely to capture a shot from behind you looking toward him, a close up of his reaction, and a shot of your reaction in the aisle. With one photographer he/she would have to pick 1-2 of those shots unless they are super fast or you stage the photos. 😂

We have about 80 people coming so we went with one who will focus on the best shots. Of course having two would've been nice but out of budget :/ (same with videographer)

We had 1 and he was great.

So far, only one picture didn’t come out that great. We took one with all the married ladies with my new last name: MiL, SiL, Hostess, and one church members.

I did have 2 Videographers, but we didn’t pay for that service. We purchased 📹s and had 2 guests record for us.

We had 2 photographers and it really made a difference. We just got our photos back and we love the photos showing different sides at the exact same moment. You won’t get that with 1 shooter. It’s also more time efficient, specifically during getting ready. One will be with you and one will be with your fiancé. To us, it was well worth the extra cost!

We decided to go for 2 photographers mostly for the ceremony. It's a good way of getting two different views at the same time.

We opted for two, so we can do getting ready photos more easily. We also aren’t having a first look so we want multiple angles of FH’s reaction during the ceremony. It’s also important to us to make sure that we don’t have anything that gets missed during the reception! It cost more but we chose 2 photographers in the long run because we want to have the pictures to hold onto forever

My photographer always has 2. Her reasoning is incase a camera fails, theirs always that second photographer. Plus, they both would get different angles and shots and one might miss something, while the other photographer got it on camera.

We only are planning for one and a videographer. We are getting makeup ready and getting dressed at the venue so it should work out.
