Hi everyone, my wedding is hopefully gonna be September 16, 2023. I’m looking at a venue on July 1st and hoping it’s the one. Then probably won’t go dress shopping till December or January. What should be my next move after booking the venue?

I would suggest booking a caterer. I booked mine last year and he already had many bookings for 2023. Also book the photographer quickly. I've had many vendors turn me down, even last year, because they were booked.

Videographer and florist if you're using them. Hair and makeup were/are the most difficult to find for me. I'm still looking for a hair stylist. You probably have a few months before you look for music.

Wow! You sound pretty well set. Just make sure the venue is okay with the vendors. Some require certain caterers and certificates of insurance for vendors. Will you need licensed bartenders? I'm also having a plein air artist at my wedding. If you're doing that, you should book soon.

Many (perhaps even most) venues are going to require a licensed caterer (for liability issues), so you're going to want to check on that. If you're absolutely set on having your families make the food (which I wouldn't recommend, because you want them to be able to relax, but to each their own), then you should check before you tour - you don't want to fall in love with the venue and discover that your food is incompatible. If you're open to professional catering (or grocery store/restaurant/whatever) then just make sure you ask at your appointment.
