I am registered at several places. I was wondering if I should register for some of the same items at different places? I am afraid that I will get people buying a lot of the same items. What should I do?

How soon should I register for the bridal registries? My FH and I have been engaged for 2 months and our wedding is in June 2012, but we've already been given some gifts. I don't want to end up with a bunch of crapola I don't want/need.
