Vanessa was so easy to work with. She made everything so easy to understand worked with us to make sure we had everything we wanted for our wedding day! I could not recommend the westgate enough for your wedding venue! From the hotel, staff, food, decor and royal style it just was amazing! You truly feel like you were transported to Versailles in France! We enjoyed working with the Westgate hotel and can’t wait to come back to celebrate our anniversary next year! Love love love!!! Working as a wedding planner alongside Vanessa at the Westgate is a dream. She is very detail oriented, great at communicating, so helpful from start to finish and just incredibly nice! On top of that, the staff on site is equally lovely, supportive and always on top of things. They go above and beyond to make sure each of our weddings feel so special for our couples. I wholeheartedly recommend Vanessa and her team at this gorgeous hotel in Downtown, San Diego.

WOW! How do I even begin this review? The Westgate Hotel and its staff are truly exceptional. I honestly believe it is a hidden gem in San Diego and far superior to so many other venues. I felt lucky to have found it and would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who is getting married and loves the French antique style. You feel like you have been transported to France and their attention to detail regarding their décor is breathtaking.
My husband and I were due to be married April 2020 and we ended up needing to cancel due to COVID. Vanessa Saenz, who was our catering sales manager, was lovely and she is HANDS DOWN the best. We had to reschedule 4 times and finally landed on April 2022. Throughout all this rescheduling, Vanessa and The Westgate remained so helpful and understanding. Their level of professionalism is second to none. I also changed my mind frequently for our ceremony location (indoor vs outdoor) and she remained so patient. From start to finish, Vanessa, was exceptional. She worked with us diligently on our new date, tastings, menu choices, special requests, etc. She is incredibly detail oriented, professional, and diligent. I always felt like Vanessa had our back and would advocate for us.
Our wedding itself was quite complicated as we had a more involved Persian ceremony which required many hours for set up (more than traditional ceremonies). Vanessa worked with my planner to ensure that we would have the time to do a thorough set up. The result was breathtaking and, as the bride, I could not have been happier with the outcome. The reception was also stunning, and I know that Vanessa and her staff's handwork certainly helped us achieve our vision. Our wedding also happened to be the same weekend as Easter. The hotel did such an excellent job with out wedding that I didn’t even remember we happened to have our wedding on one of their busiest weekends. The entire evening was seamless.
A note on dinner and cocktail hour as well – EVERY SINGLE guest I personally spoke with absolutely raved about how delicious the hotel’s dinner and tray passed hors d'oeuvres were. Their Executive Chef, Fabrice Hardel, and his staff, did a FANTASTIC job for our wedding. I recall being in love with their dining when we were there for our tasting. Often, hotel venues fall short on catering, this certainly was not the case for the Westgate.
All our guests also had wonderful things to say about the hotel and its staff. The hotel has beautiful rooms, thoughtful staff members, charm, and world class hospitality. I worked closely with Ashley and Jesus as well for our room block and they were always warm, friendly, attentive, and helpful. A special thank you to them as well!
Last, we also had our rehearsal lunch at The Westgate which was an excellent choice. We booked one of their beautiful private rooms and their lunch menu was spectacular. We very much enjoyed the convenience of having lunch at the hotel and I would recommend this as well.
Vanessa and the staff at The Westgate took an event that usually is quite stressful and made it fun and enjoyable for my husband and our families. I will forever be grateful to them and have the fondest memories of our wedding there. If you have not seen this venue do yourself a favor and set up a tour. You will not be disappointed!

Vanessa is the catering manager and the main contact for helping with weddings. The entire staff including Vanessa were so helpful and sweet. They made the wedding process so easy and flawless. It is such a beautiful ballroom and overall venue and they offered AMAZING prices for guests for our wedding. Would recommend this venue to anyone. Super class and magical !

My wedding reception was absolutely beautiful , seemless, and Vanessa the even coordinator for the Westgate Hotel worked well with my wedding coordinator. Vanessa was very easy to communicate with and made everything go so smooth. The food was so delicious and service was excellent. I recommend having your wedding here.

The entire process from touring to the actual wedding day was amazing!! I couldn’t recommend this place more! Our guests were so impressed with the venue and just how gorgeous it was. The staff was incredible, Vanessa was so helpful with answering all my questions and her communication was great. Our wedding was a dream and couldn’t have asked for a better venue!

Let me start by saying that our wedding venue canceled a week before our wedding. #Covidweddings are no joke. When I frantically sent an email to the Westgate, I thought there was zero chance our date would be available. But then, by some cosmic intervention and universal grace, Lorena emailed me that they had the date available!

First of all, take one look at the photos of the Westgate Hotel. It’s literally that gorgeous in person! But looks alone weren’t what blew us away.

Lorena and her team went above and beyond to accommodate us and our families. Because of COVID, we weren't able to have a reception in one of the banquet rooms. Their idea? Rent out the top-floor suite for an intimate dinner. Lorena and team are brilliant and the fact that they offered us this option was astonishing.

We kept thinking: what's the catch? Well, after having our wedding there and being utterly blown away, I can honestly report that there is no catch, just a stunningly gorgeous venue and happy, helpful, attentive, expectation-exceeding staff.

I have personally never received such incredible treatment from hotel staff. Not did they give us the top floor governor’s suite for our small reception, but they bent over backward to help set it up exactly how we envisioned, let us in the room to decorate, and ensure that our every need was tended to.

Lorena was able to anticipate everything we’d need long before I thought of it. I’m just utterly in disbelief that we got to have our wedding day here. We felt like a royal wedding; the opulent decor, the attentive staff, the fine dining — everything went off without a hitch. Our families were blown away too, in disbelief that we were able to squeeze in just a WEEK before our wedding.

There really aren’t enough positive words I can say about our experience having our wedding at the Westgate. Having our first venue cancel ended up being the best gift ever because somehow, we stumbled into a luxurious Parisian hotel that was actually more affordable than our first venue!

We can’t thank Lorena and the Westgate Hotel staff enough for making our day one we’ll never forget. We can't wait to come back and stay for our one-year anniversary! We feel like it's really special because now Westgate is part of our story, and we'll always come back to celebrate our marriage and relive the joy of our special day.

We just had our wedding 3-14-20. Vanessa the catering sales manger made my experience so easy and memorable. I’m a very picky and indecisive person but she was always very professional and understanding with any of my changes. Unfortunately the week of my wedding it was a very rainy week so the day before our wedding we had to make the decision to change our ceremony inside since it wouldn’t stop raining, long story short the day of my wedding it stopped raining and Vanessa knew how much I wanted my ceremony outside and last minute she made it happen. I was one happy bride!!! Our wedding was so beautiful we got so many compliments from our guest and even people that didn’t attend that just saw pictures. Vanessa and the the Westgate staff went above and beyond to make our day extra special and stress free. If your looking for a very elegant venue the Westgate hotel is the place for you not only are you getting excellent service but your getting Vanessa and she’s the best!!! Thank you Vanessa we couldn’t of done this without you.

From the second we entered the Westgate we were impressed. We were given a warm welcome from all the staff and especially Vanessa. I can't say more about her professionalism, efficiency and kindness. She was always prepared and even one step above with everything. She took all of our ideas and made them happen so we were able to pull off the dream wedding for our daughter. Vanessa was so easy to work with and replied immediately to any questions we had or concerns. She was absolutely amazing!

Where do we start? Vanessa came in a crucial time, I believe the Westgate recently hired her and from the beginning she has been a blessing to work with. She is absolutely diligent with everything she does. From our initial meeting, to the tasting, right down to dinner service on our wedding day. She gave us all options available and tried her best to customize it to our needs, which she achieved. She is also very experienced and knowledgable about weddings; often reminding us of things we could possibly miss. Weddings are always going to be stressful, but I was fortunate enough that nothing went wrong on my wedding day and it turned out to be better than I could imagine. The staff at Westgate was professional, hospitality was an all time high, the decor, cleanliness, food, choreography, had my guests all stunned. I absolutely made the right choice in choosing The Westgate. Thank you Vanessa for also being so respectful. I would absolutely highly recommend the Westgate.

Vendor to vendor, the Westgate Hotel was top notch! If you are Bride reading this you should know that the Westgate, specifically Kristen Dawson, was nothing short of professional, gracious and exceeded expectations. As a outside wedding coordinator, you never know what you are going to get when your client selects a venue, but you do know that you have to work with whomever you are dealt to make your clients wedding all they have dreamed it to be! From the first email I received from Kristen, I knew we were in good hands. Mind you, we had been in transition as the our contact prior had been promoted so we were already unsure... and yet, we were placed in the best hands. Kristen and her team of professionals worked with my staff and to make sure all the details were in order so when we arrived on site from Orange County we were confident our day was set to go. I look forward to working again at the Westgate and with Kristen and her staff. Thank you so much for your kind and professional and let's not forget to mention quaint and exquisite event space. We had our wedding at the Westgate hotel this March. What an amazing experience! First, Kristen, the catering sales manager was amazing! It was such a pleasure to work with her. She was so professional, knowledgeable and, most importantly, extremely helpful! She was a great communicator and would respond to our emails immediately! She made sure we had everything we asked for! The food was great! The stuff made sure our guests got served in a timely manner. Overall the Westgate hotel team have accommodated all our needs and desires! First class all the way! And the hotel itself is so gorgeous and luxurious! We couldn’t wish for anything better! Thanks to the Westgate hotel, our fairy tale wedding went flawlessly! P.S their wedding package prices are beyond reasonable!

The entire bridal party, families and many out of town guests stayed at The Westgate for the weekend of my daughter's wedding. While ceremony and reception were offset in Balboa Park - the hotel provided the location for the important First Look as well as spectacular spaces for the bridal ready room and groomsmen room. Jennifer was a breeze to work with - and would give her our unqualified recommendation.

We hosted our daughter's wedding ceremony and reception at the Westgate Hotel on June 14th. From the beginning and all the way through the planning process to the execution, this has been a flawless experience. Jennifer Emerzian, our sales manager has been a dream come true to work with. I have been planning events for many years and I can honestly state that Jennifer is a rare Gem. The hotel is exquisitely appointed and the perfect location for any elegant affair. The staff is professional, accommodating and extremely polite. We hosted our ceremony and reception in the Versailles Ballroom and could not have been more pleased. The space is absolutely stunning, and is the perfect backdrop for a wedding or corporate reception. I would highly recommend this venue again and again. Jennifer was spot on with everything, offering advice and suggestions that I had never considered. She answered all of my many emails with efficiently and was my saving grace in planning a beautiful event on short notice. I could not have asked for or expected anything more and am so grateful that Jen took such great care to ensure that my daughter's wedding was perfect. The execution was just as exceptional as the planning process. The "day of" event staff treated our guests as if they were royalty. Our guests were extremely impressed with their experience and the food was outstanding. No one had to ask for anything and the hotel staff went above and beyond to make our special day event more grand and beautiful. I highly recommend the Westgate Hotel. Whether you are planning a corporate or social event, or a weekend get-away, this is THE hotel in San Diego. Oh and the beds are like sleeping on a cloud!

We loved our wedding at the Westgate Hotel. We opted for a brunch wedding (very affordable for what we received) where the ceremony and reception were in the same room and our guests could help themselves to the Sunday buffet. The food was amazing!!! Our guests many times said they have not enjoyed better food at any previous weddings. Also, the venue is gorgeous and the staff members (our contact was Jennifer Emerzian) were incredibly responsive both before, during, and after the wedding. There are lovely indoor and outdoor locations for taking pictures at the Westgate and our videographer also loved shooting our wedding here--every part of the hotel is lovely.

From start to finish we were taken back with the professionalism, kindness and pure joy of the staff at The Westgate. Our guests had even commented to us that the staff was so lovely and made their stay there feel warm and welcome. The Westgate is a beautiful venue for a reception, classy, timeless and elegant. The food was amazing! My husband and I are very particular about our meals, we admit ... Almost food snobs ... And our meals at the ceremony were mouthwatering! We had the halibut and the beef tenderloin served as our main entree at our reception and everyone raved about the meal. We will be returning as guests at The Westgate as we were so pleased with everything!

I had my baby shower at the Westgate and it was just beautiful! The service and staff were very helpful and professional. Jennifer the sales catering manager made it very easy for me to relax and not worry about anything leading up to the event. The hotel staff are very sweet and always had a helping hand to assist with anything and everything we needed the day of the event. I'm so happy I did my baby shower at this hotel!

The Westgate Hotel is a beautiful venue to host your wedding ceremony and reception. We only had our reception at the Versailles Ballroom which is a room that screams elegance (think Parisian like the house of Versailles in Paris). The key to this venue is their coordinator, Anna. Professional, responsive, caring, and down-to-earth. We went to several venues, had several meetings, and did not find anyone close to the level of Anna. She will take care of you from start to finish. Food was fantastic by the way. Also in our package, the wedding couple gets a complimentary suite the night of the wedding. We definitely recommend this venue to anyone looking around the San Diego area.

I was so lucky to stumble upon this Hotel, I had a bit of a destination wedding so all of my guest stayed here and the experience was truly amazing, the hotels is beautiful on its own but to make things better the service and staff there are incredible, my wedding guest are still telling me of how great it was and thanking me for putting them there, and my photos look unbealiable thanks to the beautiful backgrounds, everybody in this hotel helped me so much and was super nice to me and my guest they truly where a key aspect of making my wedding day a dream come true for me, and i will never be able to thank them enough

From the time we were given an initial tour of the hotel to working out any kinks in billing after our event, my now husband and I were met with nothing short of excellent customer service. Anna and her team made everything so easy and they accommodated us as much as they could. Food and beverage at the Westgate was perfection. And their reception sites were breathtaking. Our wedding day was perfect thanks to the Westgate.

The Westgate was my dream wedding. Anna Geiss-Travis was extremely accommodating and caring. She made my ceremony wedding planning very easy. I was very happy with the Westgate and pricing. We had our wedding in the fabulous ballroom. There was a large bridal room and a fancy groomsmen room. And they offered our family and out of town guests a great price for the rooms. On top of everything, we loved their food! All of the bridesmaids loved the lunch we ordered during the day, it was very fresh, tasty, and beautiful.

The assistance provided by Anna before the wedding as we were making plans and on the wedding day was extraordinary and extremely helpful. We had looked at many venues, and after meeting Anna and feeling assured of her expertise and attention to detail, and her explanation of how the Westgate could meet our needs (from hotel rooms for the guests to financial costs), to parking service, to brunch after the wedding, to bride/groom dressing room, to coordinating that the area outside of the Versailles ballroom was set up for guests on time, to accommodating our wedding timelines, to photo taking arrangements, my daughter (the bride) and I decided to have the wedding at this venue. And my daughter and my whole family felt everything went perfectly (and how many people can say that about a wedding?). We were treated with great care on the day of the wedding. The rooms for the wedding party to dress were great and the food service was quick and set up beautifully. Anna was able to calm our nerves, , and arrange the set up of the ballroom perfectly, organize the seating for the ceremony, and review the plans so everyone knew what to do. Her expertise and advice was excellent. I particularly remember that as the wedding party gathered before walking down the aisle, Anna was calming the groomsmen nerves and "suggesting or reminding them" of the proper line up, and I was so thankful. Best of all, my daughter, who is very particular, trusted Anna and felt that her wedding was perfect. Our guests also commented how wonderful the wedding was, and how beautiful the hotel is. We also felt very special with the treatment after the wedding. The Westgate Hotel is not only a special memory, but we are now "fans" and have visited for the music in the bar, eating at the restaurant, enjoying high tea, planning to go to brunch, and have selected dates to stay at the hotel in the future for special events. Anna Travis was so great to work with. I'm obsessed with the Hotel, it absolutely gorgeous. As soon as you walk in your in Awww. The pictures for my Wedding are amazing because the place just sets the perfect theme. Everyone there is professional and proficient.

Every aspect of our wedding at the Westgate Hotel was phenomenal. From the few days prior to the close of the reception, we could not have asked for a better overall experience. The staff in every facet was exceptional, the public and private rooms were pristine and perfectly maintained, and the food during the reception was great (180 guests). As the couple we had a great time and are continuously receiving positive feedback from our guests about their experiences. Separately, Anna did a fantastic job in delivering the event that we envisioned. She put forth every bit of extra effort to ensure that everything went smooth. Anna was also very easy to work with, which we greatly appreciated.

The Westgate Hotel and all their staff exceeded our expectations! We held our wedding ceremony, reception, and private day-after brunch at this hotel. Our 120 guests all loved their hotel rooms, the service, and the great location. Anna Geiss-Travis, Catering Sales Manager, provided endless assistance to us throughout the planning process and is an expert at event planning! She recommended nearly all the vendors that we hired and they were all great- no issues. We have seen a preview of our wedding photos and they are gorgeous since The Westgate is the backdrop! We wouldn't have changed a thing and highly recommend this venue for you special occasion.

Our wedding was more beautiful then I could have imagined and the hotel made sure of it, the food was amazing (guest couldn't stop talking about it) which is rare for weddings and Anna did everything she could to make sure everything was perfect! She was extremely flexible throughout the process and always there to help guide us and made herself available late nights if we needed it. If you want a romantic wedding with top notch service, I would recommend the Westgate hotel above all others!

Our wedding at the Westgate was something out of a fairytale. Everything turned out beautifully and we could not have asked for a more perfect day, or a more wonderful venue! Our guests are still raving about the food and how beautiful everything was. I can't thank Anna enough for all of her help over the past year of planning. She was always super flexible and really let us customize everything to make it personal to us. I really appreciated that she was always up front about pricing and that there were no last minute hidden fees, it made everything so much easier when planning our budget! But most of all she was SO much fun to work with! She really made the whole process so much fun and we will miss working with her. If we could do it all over, we would not have changed a thing.

Anna was amazing and extremely helpful throughout our wedding planning! This hotel is the perfect venue for any event, but if you are looking to have a gorgeous wedding venue you can end your search here!

The way the westgate decorated and served at our wedding was amazing! The venue is the most gorgeous place I've seen! They made our wedding an incredible experience for us and our guests.

We had a beautiful, romantic, perfect wedding. We held our ceremony on the third floor terrace, it was so nice to have an outdoor wedding in front of a fountain, and yet be above the streets away from passer by's. We then held our reception on the second floor in the Versailles ballroom with dinner and dancing. The food was magnificent, I am a foodie so I am picky about the food and it was amazing. The most tender steak, handmade ravioli, and succulent salmon. I can not thank the staff enough for all of their work especially Anna, the day was perfect. I was able to sit back and enjoy our wedding. Not to mention the beauty of the hotel. We have beautiful, elegant pictures that were taken all over the hotel. I would have my wedding again at The Westgate Hotel in a heart beat. Our guests loved the beauty and charm of the hotel and could not believe how perfect it was.

It's been almost 2 weeks since my daughter's wedding and reception at the Westgate. Last weekend, my wife and I were doing the arm chair quarterback thing and second-guessing the whole affair. With the benefit of hindsight, we were able to happily say that absolutely nothing could have been done better. The only problem I had was that I didn't get a piece of the fabulous wedding cake which was my fault -- just too busy visiting with the guests. However, one friend shared a piece of their cake with me so that I wasn't totally out in the cold. We were and are very happy customers. Would recommend the Westgate to anyone.

The Westgate's excellent staff, impeccable service, and lavish European setting created a perfect fairytale day for our daughter and her new husband. Our guests had the ultimate San Diego experience ---a ceremony overlooking the entire city, a gracious outdoor cocktail party, and a superb dinner served by a host of polished waitstaff in a crystal ballroom. Our every request was attended to swiftly and unobtrusively from the beginning walk-throughs to the final clean-up. As the very detail-oriented and hard-to-please mother-of-the-bride, I have only rave reviews for this fine up-scale venue. My husband (also a perfectionist) and I have attended or given similar events like this. After an event, we can usually fill in this phrase: "Next time we do something like this, we should ________." This time, we could not fill in the phrase. The day was simply perfection from start to finish. Thank you, Anna and Miguel!

Where can I begin my review on the Westgate?? I am still reliving my wedding over and over again in my mind, and my wedding was almost a week ago!
I will begin by saying that if I could go back in time, and have the choice to do things differently, I wouldn't change ONE thing! The Westgate was quite simply the venue of my dreams, and they literally turned my wedding into a real life fairytale! The only thing missing was the horse drawn carriage!
Not only did the Westgate accommodate my every request, but they accommodated every request with class and sophistication. Not once was I nervous about the business of the day, because I knew Anna and Miguel were overseeing EVERYTHING to ensure us the most perfect day possible. And, let me tell you that it was PERFECT. Not ONE thing went wrong!
Our guests were all at ease, my wedding party was having a great time, and more importantly, my family, my husband and I were all stress-free and happy!! Anna went the extra mile for us to ensure our peace of mind, and I have to tell you, she did it with such ease.
I will miss doing business with the Westgate and with Anna and Miguel. Our experience is one that we will NEVER forget and we hope to relive it again someday :)

The only thing topping the tastefully elegant decor of the Westgate in it's style of Baroque and high Rococo is it's staff. They are true service professionals, combining crisp professionalism and genuine warmth.

Westgate Hotel where very accommodating to all the needs, worked well with Bride and family and all our needs. Handled last minute changes and last minute things we forgot. They where amazing I would use their services again. You could not have asked for a more beautiful setting and dinner was fabulous.

Our wedding turned out EXACTLY as we had envisioned without a glitch. Our dream was an intimate and elegant wedding, and the Westgate staff was quick to assist to transform one of their smaller ballrooms into just the space for it. The one thing I heard over and over before the wedding is "get a day of event coordinator." We did not, but Anna Geiss-Travis, the Director of Events at the Westgate was so extremely organized and had everything dialed in, that we didn't need a second set of eyes or hands. She was wonderful! Whether you are having a small or large wedding, I would without reservation recommend the Westgate.

This is a beautiful venue with incredible service. I am a professional fundraiser and have been involved with many galas at a variety of hotels and other locations throughout San Diego. This is by far the best experience I've ever had! Our ceremony was beautiful, the reception on the balcony was lovely with a view of downtown and the bay, and our dinner was fabulous. Our guests still talk about how good the food was and how lovely the whole experience was. The band we hired - a ten piece band - said several times that it was one of the best crowds and best venues they have played at. I highly recommend the Westgate - Anna and all of the other professionals we dealt with went above and beyond, many times anticipating our needs before we even had to ask. I would do it again in a second and will use the Westgate for professional gatherings as well. We had around 100 guests. In addition, our honeymoon suite was to die for - I didn't want to leave! From the parking attendant to the bellhop to the event coordinator it was WONDERFUL! Thank you all so much.

I've told all my friends that are having weddings or planning parties of the great service and value. And the food was wonderful, all our friends said that they were surprised at the delicious food, especially the beef plate!
The only thing s if I can say would be a missed my "chiles" on the tables and I didn't get a piece of wedding cake to take home, I think because the cake was so good, everyone had 2nd's and 3rd's.

The most beautiful venue you could find in San Diego. They really know how to throw a beautiful event. You will not need to do a lot in the way of flowers as the rooms are so beautifully decorated they do not need anything else. The food is fantastic. They really do an amazing job making sure that you have everything you need. The room block was also very easy to deal with.

The Westgate was amazing! We worked with Gabriela (catering manager) and she helped us numerous times through the planning.

At the last moment we had one additional person attend the event. The staff was very accommodating, squeezing in one additional chair and placesetting. There was no issue with the additional food needed either. All the plates looked exactly the same. Regarding the quality of service, some of the plates had food stuck on them. They had obviously been through the dishwasher, but that had not functioned well enough and some of the guest had to return their plates. The staff was very sorry, and quickly replaced, but you might want to have some sort of quality control for dish washing.

My event took place in the Versailles ballroom at Westgate. Jennifer was always there to answer any questions or concerns I had. She kept everything so organized and was such a pleasure to work with. Planning an event is always stressful but Jennifer is so professional and makes you feel comfortable which I loved! I look forward to my next event at the Westgate hotel!

This is probably the most magnificent wedding venue in Southern Calif. The Westgate is a beautiful jewel in the Gas Lamp area of San Diego. Luck is the person that visits this venue…even luckier are the Bride and Groom who chose The Westgate Hotel for their wedding and reception!

Having our wedding at the Westgate Hotel cost more than we were planning on spending, but it was worth every penny. The food was fantastic, and the chef was very open to the custom menu we requested. I cannot say enough good things about the catering sales manager. Anna stepped in and did above and beyond what was asked and expected of her. She was such a godsend as the day-of coordinator, keeping everything running smoothly so we didn't have to worry about any of the little details to stay on schedule. It was absolutely the perfect venue for us.

We had our wedding reception at the Westgate Hotel in January 2024 and had an amazing experience. The venue itself was gorgeous, and all of our guests told us that the food served was absolutely amazing (and we totally agree)! We worked with Tiffany on the event / catering team and she was incredible. She was so knowledgeable and was very accommodating to all of our requests to help make our wedding perfect. All of the hotel rooms that we and our guests used were also very nice and cute. My husband and I also attended afternoon tea the day before our wedding and it was such a special experience. Overall we love the hotel and highly recommend for either an event or a stay!

To summarize, my wife and I were a "covid engagement" and had to push three times. Vanessa stuck with us the whole time, was incredibly easy to talk to, kind, navigated difficult conversations with us, was hyper responsive and very commercial. Christine and I loved working with her and hope to drop in and say hi the next time we are in SD!

We knew the aesthetics of how we wanted out wedding to feel and the atmosphere of The Westgate was the winner. Specifically, Kristen Dawson was our venue coordinator and she was remarkable. She is extremely communicative and was very prompt with getting back to us. The Westgate is so unique and breathtaking. It is a step back into time and you can tell management really upholds their standards when it comes to the finer things they have at The Westgate. Everything went smoothly when it came to coordinating our big day; however, the only ding I would give is the staff I came across during the weekend of the wedding. We organized an informal rehearsal reception the night before our wedding at the hotel bar and I am unsure why the bar staff assumed we were not staying at the hotel but told my family and friends that they were at the wrong place (my belief is that my bridal party was a group of 30 year olds and he judged them off how young they were and did not want them there). I was very turned off by this incident because we were all guests of the hotel that we went to a different hotel for cocktails. Another huge issue I had was that no wait staff really tended to me (or the groom) during dinner. I was so thirsty the whole time! And one of their staff members stepped on my dress and tore it. I am just putting those negative of MINE out there but NONETHELESS, I wouldn't change anything about my wedding despite those incidents. Everything else was wonderful and I could say more great things about Kristen and how glamorous The Westgate is. It is a stunning venue and a completely different feel to the "standard" wedding people choose these days. If you want to feel royal, classic, and timeless, this is the venue for you.

The Westgate proved to be the winning ingredient in making our wedding a success! This boutique hotel is so charming - from the minute you walk through the opulent doors and take in the exquisite décor, chandeliers, and breathtaking staircase, you feel as though you have left the bustle of downtown and stepped into a Parisian fairytale. And that is exactly what our wedding felt like, but affordable. The French chef delivered a gorgeous, menu, and the staff during the evening, around the hotel (especially the fabulous concierge), and at our morning brunch, were efficient, responsive and extremely professional.

I have to specifically mention Anna Geiss-Travis, the National Sales Manager at the Westgate. A decadent venue is hardly enough to create a successful event, you need a team behind the scenes to make it all happen and deal with the logistics. Anna was a team in of itself! She was an absolute pleasure to work with, responsive to all of our requests, and flexible when we had an out-of-the box idea. Anna truly knows the value of customer service, and she delivered over and over again. In the end, it was Anna (along with our amazing wedding planner) who made it a drama-free night to remember. The Westgate provided us with the most beautiful, intimate backdrop for our wedding, and Anna was there every step of the way to make sure we were expertly taken care of. Thank you, Anna and the Westgate team!

As my mother was paying for most of my wedding, she had a pretty strong say in where the wedding would be. I liked the Westgate after initially visiting it, but I wasn't sure if it was totally me. However, my mom fell in love with the hotel and she persuaded me to have the wedding there. I'm so glad that is what happened because it turned out to be amazing. The food was incredible and you didn't really need much extra decor because the hotel itself is so stunning. It has this old timey vintage look, and it feels like you're in 17th century Versailles. The event coordinator Gabriela is outstanding. She went above and beyond, and she made the whole experience so easy. Wedding planning is definitely not easy, so it was nice to have such a big part of the wedding go so well. One of the highlights of our wedding would definitely have to be our honeymoon suite. We were upgraded to the Governor's suite, and it was so picturesque the getting ready photos came out so great! I would highly recommend this site for anyone who is looking for something classic and vintage feeling.

The venue at the Westgate was perfect for our corporate event and the staff was exceptional. From working with Jennifer in the beginning who was an incredible delight and completely flexible, to the day of event and the warm friendly staff. Our onsite coordinator was professional and attentive to all the detail that our event a success to all who attended.

Overall, they did a great job. There was a problem with the bar during the cocktail hour and how it was handled by the banquet manager. Otherwise, the evening was fantastic.

The venue was beautiful, the ideal setting for our wedding.
We met in France and the versailles room fit our theme.
The food was delicious, generous portions were attentively served.
Our coordinator, Kristen was very helpful in communicating throughout the process. She quickly dealt with any issues or changes of plan.
The staff was very helpful and friendly however towards the end I feel they rushed the clean up of the room which led to some of our guests items being misplaced. This would be our only critique for improvement.
Overall, i would highly recommend getting married at the beautiful Westgate Hotel in Downtown San Diego.

The food, room and servers were amazing. I felt like Sergio didn't know what he was doing. I asked him for a microphone he did get one after first saying his AV person wasn't there and rolling his eyes. of course the shower was almost over by the time he brought one in. We had to tell them to serve our table the lunch and also to cut the cake. After the shower someone found parking vouchers on a table. Some of my guests had to pay full price. All in all the everyone seemed to enjoy the day. Just felt we were putting Sergio out.
Again the food, wine and champagne were fabulous.
Anna was easy to work with. Just a bit disappointed in the service staff that day.

Anna promised many things, seemingly flexible - however, day of, not only was she not to be found, few of the things that were asked for were done.

Responsiveness, obviously low rating since my requests were ignored.

Professionalism, I was met with many unanswered phone calls and drove down for several appointments where I was stood up.

Value, although priced well for the location and style of the hotel - I was owed over a thousand dollars after my wedding and was not reimbursed despite thorough follow through, and a lack thereof on Anna's part.

Flexibility, the staff set up the room in auto pilot mode, forcing me to stay up the night before my wedding arranging the entire room with my family!

I also experienced a high turn over of event planners during the planning of my event. Obviously, with this turn over, there is not always a turn over of information. I was left unsure of who to contact many times. Also, given that each event planner had their "ways" of conducting business, many parts fell through the cracks given the lack of continuity.

Biggest regret and stress of my wedding was hosting it at the Westgate.
