My wife and I interviewed several wedding planners as we prepared for our international wedding in Cancun, Mexico.
From the moment we spoke with Monica, it was clear she was different. She truly listened, let us walk through our vision, and then thoughtfully explained how her team could bring it to life. She was kind, transparent, and incredibly clear about next steps. It felt less like talking to a vendor and more like talking to a friend.
Planning a destination wedding entirely virtually comes with a lot of stress and nonstop questions at all hours. Monica was unbelievably responsive — answering questions and hopping on calls within minutes. The peace of mind she provided simply by being available cannot be overstated.
My wife shared her vision, and Monica brought it to life in ways we couldn’t have imagined. Her knowledge of the industry and trusted vendors is unmatched. She encouraged us to trust her process and her vendor recommendations — and we’re so glad we did.
That decision made all the difference. What she created far exceeded our expectations and was more than we ever thought possible.
At no point did Monica disappear. She visited venues on our behalf, FaceTimed us through walkthroughs, stayed available at all hours, and always made sure we knew exactly what was happening and what was needed from us. Pricing was clear, transparent, and never once a concern.
Through this experience, Monica has truly become a lifelong friend.

Planning a destination wedding is daunting, and I didn’t know where to start. As a type A person, I knew the resort planners weren’t going to cut it. I interviewed a few private planners and I was so impressed by Monica’s friendliness, reviews, and price.
Leading up to the wedding, we scheduled calls and reviewed all of my wishes. She recommended vendors, contacted and coordinated with them, got me fair, reasonable prices, and reminded me of my payments. This saved me COUNTLESS hours!
Monica was so helpful during our tasting visit and was with us every step of the way.
When it was time for the wedding, she coordinated all of my guests (~70) arrival times and transportation. She helped organize our catamaran excursion. One thing that truly impressed us was how well she communicated with our resort. Despite their occasional lack of communication, Monica was persistent with our questions and got us amazing deals and comps. What I was imagining to be one of the most stressful days of my life turned into a dream vacation and wedding.
Monica and her team had everything covered. I had a bridal attendant with me at all times to make sure our dresses were steamed, making sure I was drinking water, dabbing the sweat off my back in between pictures, helping me change into my reception dress, etc. This was truly above and beyond. I felt so special, and this let my mom and sister feel like they could relax and enjoy the wedding.
Monica and her team found my dad a belt when he realized he didn’t pack his, they went grocery shopping for us, she responded to all of my messages so quickly. They truly go above and beyond.
Having Monica and her team allowed this type a bride turn into a type b bride. I truly couldn’t imagine my wedding planning process without her and I can’t thank her and Vanessa and Ruth enough. Don’t hesitate, choose Monica!! -

We couldn’t be happier with our experience working with Monica and Vanessa. Our wedding was a complete success, and it’s thanks to their incredible planning and design skills. The décor team did a fantastic job—everything from the photo stations, the string lights, the elegant white cover at the pergola, and even the reflective white vinyl floor at the ceremony was absolutely stunning. The cake was another perfect detail, and every element truly reflected the vision I had in mind.
What impressed us most was how cost-friendly their services were compared to other vendors, especially given the value and quality we received. They were so easy to work with, always quick to respond, and paid attention to every little detail—from helping with dresses to providing a space for gifts.
The most impressive part for me was how they managed to bring my exact ideas to life. They didn’t just plan a wedding—they realized my ambitions and turned them into reality.

Absolutely amazing!
I seriously don’t think there could be anyone better than Monica and her team as a wedding planner. They made my wedding a dream come true from start to finish. Monica was very responsive and always available to talk. She always kept me in the loop and managed everything with my hotel, coordinator, and vendors behind the scenes. I did not stress one time throughout the whole process. She was on top of everything! My vision completely came to life and was beautiful. The wedding day she had a whole team with me that were just as amazing. I received compliments the whole night about all of them. I truly could not imagine what planning my wedding would have been like without Monica. The whole process was made easy and fun!! -

Above and Beyond Experience! HIGHLY RECOMMEND
My husband and I held off planning a wedding for a few years, in all honesty, because we were fearful that we would not be able to afford the wedding of our dreams. The wedding planning process is daunting and expensive and planning an event internationally adds a layer of ‘unknowns’ to the mix. I had planned on doing everything myself (I have experience planning events, and I love planning), but quickly realized that internationally coordinating vendors, catering, decor, etc. was becoming more of a stressor rather than something to look forward to. After speaking with my photographer (Giulia Vasta), she recommended Monica and her team to see if she could just help with some of the logistics, but after meeting with Monica we decided to hire her as our vendor coordinator, in addition to being our day of coordinator. I do not write reviews lightly, and when I say Monica and her team went above and beyond to make our day the most incredible of our lives, I am not even slightly kidding. She was responsive from the second we signed our contract. I don’t think 24 hours ever passed before we received a response from her. She worked with us to update our quote throughout the process to ensure we stayed within our budget. She was calm, reassuring, and very professional on all of our calls leading up to the big day! Monica picked us up from the airport, helped arrange transportation for our guests, helped pick up groceries, got suits pressed, etc.- which relieved so many of the small stressors that add up when planning a wedding.
On the wedding day, Monica and her team truly went above and beyond. The tablescape and flower bouquets were more gorgeous than any Pinterest photo I had saved in the process, the furniture was gorgeous, the food delicious, and the timing was immaculate. Everything went off without a hitch, and Monica was so calm and reassuring all day. I cannot recommend Monica and her team enough. Seriously, if you are looking for a professional, who has an eye for design, is kind and thoughtful, and will create an event that is elevated beyond your wildest dreams- you need to hire Monica immediately! I know everyone speaks highly of their wedding day, but I seriously have no negative comments, or wish anything would have been different!
So grateful to have been connected with this amazing planner, and wish her nothing but success in her business in the future!

I’m so happy that we hired Monica and team! Getting married at Xcaret Mexico is overwhelming because even though it’s a beautiful property it’s huge. We needed support on handling vendors/Catholic wedding process. Our weekly calls were always fun, and flexible too. She helped us with our vision and made it come true! We ran into an issue with one of our vendors insurance the week of wedding and she solved it. Helped us keep our costs down as much as we could. The day of was insane in a good way! I felt like VIP, her team was there to assist with anything that I needed since the morning (making sure I ate and drank water, which I appreciate SO MUCH!). She also helped us with finding a boat excursion last minute for the day after. Honestly, if you are a bride and need support don’t think twice and just do it. Thank you Moni and team! ♥️ -

My husband and I wanted to do a 10 year vow renewal for a long time. We put a great deal of time and money into the event, and spent a year actively preparing for it. We wanted a very simple, private event for us with our son. VERY long story short, the resort we booked with (and their wedding department) didn’t honor our vision and failed us so much so that we were left with no choice but to cancel a week before the event.
Our travel agent was able to re-book our trip, and she connected us with Monica to help us start over. Monica jumped right in. She immediately understood our vision. With much shorter notice, she planned our event and assembled a team who fully honored and respected our wishes. She was so patient, kind, respectful, and professional. And every member of her team was a perfect fit for us.
Monica is so talented and passionate about what she does. We will be forever grateful to her for all she did to make our disastrous event into an absolutely, positively beautiful and perfect day.

I cannot express how blown away we were by the gorgeous floral displays Monica arranged and produced for us for our wedding. My husband and I have VERY high standards and we had very specific ideas of how we wanted our wedding to look. Monica heard all of our requests and did everything exactly as we asked and more. The floral displays were BIG and impressive. They were artfully crafted and the flowers were healthy and vibrant. She even arranged extra items for us like a full-length personalized mirror for guest photos and white drapes all along the ceiling of our ceremony palapa. There was nothing she could not do for us!
She was professional and responsive all year long while we were planning, and even gifted me a beautiful colorful purse made in Mexico that I will treasure forever. Thank you, Weddings & Events by Angels, for making our wedding so over the top stunning! -

As an American who doesn’t speak Spanish, planning a destination wedding can be really hard, but Monica made my experience planning my wedding so easy. I met her while she was setting up for a wedding at a site visit at a hotel in Cancun. I saw the way that ballroom looked and thought this is exactly what I’d like. Once we connected, she was super communicative with me through every phase of planning the wedding. Both me and my partner are Persian so our wedding wasn’t typical in terms of the ceremony, but Monica has experience with Persian weddings which gave me huge peace of mind. She did everything to ensure I was happy and stress free which I genuinely appreciated. She was always available to chat and is super quick to respond. She coordinated with vendors and took the burdens of coordinating off of me. She also has the best vendors she partners with. Everyone she recommended to me were top notch. I genuinely was so calm and happy on my wedding day because of the organized manner in which she planned the day. I couldn’t be happier with how well she organized my wedding. She genuinely is an advocate for you with your vendors, venue, everyone. My best wedding choice was hiring her. If you’re on the fence about getting having a planner, don’t be. Do yourself a favor and reach out to Monica for your wedding :) -

I can not put into words how amazing Monica was. I hired her for Day of coordination only so about 2 weeks before I handed everything over to her and explained my vision. On the day of, either her or her assistant were by my side at all times. She is the reason that my day was perfect and I wouldn’t change anything about it. I didn’t have to make any last minute decisions because I knew she had my back. Here are some examples of Monica’s quick thinking:
1) My matron of honor took the balloons for our getting ready room to the gift shop to inflated and the employee popped 2 of the balloons!! Monica sent out her assistant and came back with all new inflated balloons just in time for pics!
2) She even went out and got food from the cafe for my matron of honor who is pregnant!
All I can say is my day was flawless because of Monica. Book her! 11/10 for sure!! -

Monica and her team at Weddings and Events by Angels are the BEST out there! This was one of the best decisions we made. She made the process easy, not stressful and I enjoyed every single minute. She brought our vision to life and re-assured us that it will all come out great! She contacted the resort right away and got all the information we needed and would get a fast response from the hotel as well.
We did a site visit in August and went to Cancun; we got to meet Monica and her husband Martin. They were there every step with doing the tour of the hotel, food tasting, setting up meetings with the photographers and hair and make-up trial. They picked us up and drove us to all our meetings. I mean, they went above and beyond and we are extremely grateful.
The day of the wedding was nothing but perfect! To be honest, we were not stressed and it was seriously the best day! Her team was amazing! And they were with us until the end of the night. Monica helped with setting up the decoration for the welcome table at the reception. She even fixed my bouquet that the resort provided (the palm leaf was too big so she cut it and made it perfect).
My family and guest loved Monica and her team! They had nothing but amazing things to say about them. They mentioned how friendly, professional and calm they were. They enjoyed that they got to know them.
It’s been a week since our wedding and we are still on cloud 9. Monica and her team became family to us! We will forever be grateful.
A friend recommended them to us and now we want to recommend them to you guys! Don’t sleep on this, trust us! They are the BEST!! -

Monica was the ultimate example of a seasoned professional - responsive, creative, and produced high quality work! We 100% recommend anyone looking for a wedding planner who is going to help cultivate your ideas into an incredible weekend. She recommended the best vendors, worked out all of the details, and was amazing under pressure when Covid and a massive hurricane created challenges the weeks and day leading up to our wedding weekend. We had to change venues for multiple events the day before and Monica handled everything without putting any added stress onto us. The venues looked like they were always planned and we didn’t have to lose any time with our guests. We all still talk about what an incredible weekend we had and the flawless planning behind it! -

Amazing Work! Professional!
When Jose and I first met Monica at Grand Velas it was an instant connection! Prior to our arrival to Grand Velas, we were hesitant about having a destination wedding because of COVID and the distance being the main factor as we would not be close by in case there were any issues. Immediately, Monica took all those feelings away and we rapidly knew that we would have the wedding of our dreams with her along our side helping us every step of the way. Monica was able to capture our vision for our wedding day instantly.
Throughout our months of planning via video calls, Monica kept us well informed of everything and if any issues arose, she attended to them immediately. She was also super patient with tackling all our questions in all the months to come. She was always kind, professional, attentive, and answered e-mails in a timely manner.
On our wedding day, every single detail and vision we had in mind came to life! Everything was beautiful and more than what we could have ever imagined thanks to Monica! She helped our magical weekend wedding dreams come true and everything was beyond perfect. Our wedding day was flawless, and it was all due to Monica and her teams expertise in the field, planning skills, and attention to detail.
Monica and her team were extremely easy to work with and they provided anything and everything we needed on our wedding day. Planning a wedding in the thick of Covid-19 is not for the faint of heart. Between the constant state of the ‘unknown’, laws changing, Restrictions piling, as well as staff lay offs; one would reconsider planning such a monumental celebration to a ladder date and honestly, I might have had it not been for Monica Alvarez. Between countless pep talks and encouragement, we trusted her and kept our date, (a date that had been in the works for nearly 2 years) and we are so thankful we did because it was truly a magical day. Upon arrival Ms. Alvarez, had already set up meetings with all the vendors days prior to the wedding so that everyone was on the same page, which was incredibly helpful. From having everything in order, to helping shuffle last minute things around Ms. Alvarez stepped up in all areas of the wedding. If anything went wrong, she made sure to handle it with grace. She is personable, funny and organized. She is truly an asset to any wedding and I have no doubt that she will continue to make many more wedding dreams come true. -

Monica & her team married us during the height of the pandemic and ensured that our guests not only felt safe but also they had a great time. As a bride from the United States & having 2 ceremonies on a resort in Mexico, Monica and her team made sure that I felt the least stressed while they handled everything throughout the day and background.
