The Easiest and Best Decision We Made

From the moment we met Chef Wes at the OBX Wedding Expo, we knew Red Sky was something special. His energy and passion were undeniable, and once we tasted the food, our search for the perfect caterer was over. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and thoughtfully prepared.

Chef Wes went above and beyond throughout the process, even surprising us by personally showing up to our tasting. His guidance in curating the menu was both professional and personal, making the entire experience seamless and genuinely fun, especially while planning from across the country.

On our wedding day, the Red Sky team exceeded every expectation. Their hospitality and service were flawless, and our guests couldn’t stop talking about the food. During sunset photos, they surprised us with a charcuterie of our hors d’oeuvres (such an unforgettable touch!), and the beignets were an absolute hit. Red Sky didn’t just provide a meal, they created an experience we’ll never forget.

Look No Further for Perfection

Booking Red Sky was one of the best decisions we made throughout our wedding planning process. We instantly connected with Chef Wes over lunch at Red Sky Cafe when visiting OBX to look at venues for our destination wedding. We were SO grateful to have made that connection. Months later, we brought my parents down for a tasting. They were highly impressed, not only with the taste of the food, but with the gorgeous presentation as well. We loved the customizable package options and that they offered bar service as well. On the day of our wedding, and still, months after, our friends and family rave at the caliber of the food and drinks. We are so glad we went with the family style boards. They provided our people with the most unique dining experience while connecting with other guests. We have so much gratitude for the entire Red Sky Team, and for Alexis, who was consistently communicative throughout the entire planning process from afar. We cannot wait to go back to the cafe and NC Coast on our next visit to OBX!

Simply Wonderful

Red Sky is amazing. The food is great and the staff are even better. We used them for 3 events during our week long wedding celebration and all our guests commented on the great food and super friendly staff. Shout out to Alexis for always being available and helpful as we coordinated all of our events. Also, to Nikki for being so attentive to our guests. Would highly recommend chef dinner in beach home, was a nice way to end our week.

Wonderful experience for my wedding!

We had such an amazing experience with Red Sky for our wedding in Outer Banks! Everyone was raving about the and the execution was seamless!

The staff and bartenders were all incredibly friendly, and having them there made the night even more special. Alexis was so helpful throughout the planning process, and the entire Red Sky team delivered above and beyond on the big day.

Highly recommend Red Sky for anyone looking for delicious food, creative presentation, and outstanding service!

Deserves a 20/10 rating!

Red Sky completely blew my mind for my wedding! All of the staff were so sweet and kind, and the food was to die for. We are still getting compliments and highly recommend the artichoke puffs, spring rolls, and alfredo pasta! To top it off, Alexis was so extremely prompt in her communication and our tasting was A BLAST! Highly highly recommend

Choosing Red Sky Catering was hands-down one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. Food was a top priority for us, especially with one of our guests being a professional chef and everyone else being serious food lovers—and Red Sky absolutely delivered.

From the beautifully presented cocktail hour passed items to the incredible plated dinner, every bite was delicious. Our guests could not stop raving about the food! The portions were generous, and everything came out hot and fresh thanks to their impressive portable kitchen setup.

Detailed oriented and delicious catering!

Red Sky was a vendor we connected with immediately! Food was huge priority of our wedding and a big investment. We also chose our venue because of the flexibility it allowed for catering. Red Sky impressed us from the beginning. Starting at the tasting, we had a wonderful afternoon at their restaurant doing a family style tasting with my parents. They accommodated all of our wish list and had an amazing selection. Then, at the wedding, the service and staff couldn’t have been better. We received a personal plate of appetizers to share privately since we missed most passed apps while greeting and thanking guests. The bartenders always had a smile on their face and made the bar so efficient. The catering team made sure all dietary restrictions were taken care of, even making a special vegan meal for a guest. Then, the staff managed to clean up the head table after it toppled in a torrential storm within five minutes. And, we continue to receive complements about the shrimp and grits! Red Sky is committed to providing fresh and local catering and we couldn’t recommend their food and service enough. We cannot wait to celebrate future anniversaries at their equally amazing restaurants and reminisce on our wonderful wedding catering!

Incredible eats for rehearsal, reception, and dessert!

Red Sky exceeded our expectations from the start! Chef Wes and Alexis worked with us at our initial meeting to discuss dietary restrictions and logistics of our vision for our rehearsal and reception! Our guests RAVED about everything and said it was some of the best food they every had. We loved the crab cake apps and shrimp and grits were incredible. You should absolutely consider beignets for dessert! They were a hit! We also utilized staff for bartending and they were great. We would definitely recommend Red Sky for all occasions!

Red Sky!!!

Red Sky catering over exceeded our hope and dream. The only thing better than the food were the staff. Everything from start to finish was perfect. We hired them without having tried their food and were prepared to be disappointed but they blew us away. The Chef cooked the food on site and he and his team created an amazing experience. The serving staff were so friendly and lovely. We wish we could have taken them home with us. There is nothing they could have done better. I cannot recommend Red Sky enough. Thank you to everyone who helped us create the dream wedding.

Phenomenal food

Would 1 trillion % recommend. We held our wedding up on the 4x4 at The Chesapeake and Red Sky did such a phenomenal job. They were timely, flexible, professional, and most of all the food was absolutely some of the best food ever. Definitely the best wedding food I have ever had. Your guests will rave about the food!

We are so thankful that we hired Red Sky to cater our wedding (and most of our events throughout our “wedding week”)! Our guests cannot stop talking about how amazing the food was! Our wedding was perfect and we have Red Sky to largely thank for that! The passed apps were phenomenal and my friends cannot stop talking about the Shrimp & Grits! If you want good food at your OBX event or wedding, Red Sky is the way to go! They also went above and beyond for us for a BBQ that we did and it was amazing!

One of the best dinners ever had!

Fantastic food and service

Red Sky Cafe catered our wedding 10/20/2023. First the food was excellent and people were raving about it. The portions were huge. The service was also great. They were on time with everything. There was one issue with the bar that the on-site manager, once notified, handled quickly and to satisfaction. Even with the bar issue I would highly recommend using Red Sky for all your catering needs.

Perfect for our wedding!

The Red Sky team was amazing to work with for our micro wedding! The catering manager, Alexis, was so helpful during the planning process and we were so happy they had an option for our smaller event with the Chefs on Call service. The chef and servers that came out to the house were so great. They kept the food coming and checked on us repeatedly to make sure we had everything we needed. And the food – was AMAZING! Every one of our guests loved it and so many told us it was the best wedding food ever! We were lucky to have leftovers and got to enjoy it with our family the next day as well. Choosing Red Sky was one of the best decisions we made!

Highly recommend!

We loved Red Sky Caterer! Right from the start they were there to help and answer any questions we had. The only hard part working with Red Sky was narrowing our wedding dinner down from all the choices. Not only did we have them cater our wedding but also the following night for dinner. Between Alexis, who was my go to girl, the chefs and serving staff, they all made us feel like we were their only clients. Would love to have another wedding just to work with them again!!!

Amazing from start to finish

We used Red Sky for our intimate family rehearsal dinner before our wedding, and are so glad we did! Chef Wes and his team are experts and know how to provide a delicious meal and absolutely top notch customer experience. We also had an amazing experience working with Dina and Bridget on all the logistics. They came to our beach house and cooked an out of this world custom menu, cleaned and packed up everything for us, and were so lovely to have the night before our wedding. We also had an amazing experience at our tasting. Everything was so delicious and the Red Sky Team couldn't be kinder or more gracious. We love Red Sky and will always come back for dinner when we're in Duck. You will not be sorry if you book them for your event!

The Best of the Best

Everything was fantastic. More than we could have ever imagined. Every single person came up to us to let us know that the food was amazing, and the staff was just the absolute best. From the rehearsal, the cocktail hour and the reception- it was all delicious. Everyone was all so friendly and helpful. Our bartender Doug for our rehearsal and our wedding was just so full of personality, and made our day even better. Bridget is spectacular- my mothers favorite person haha. Chef Wes even came out to the beach to congratulate us and say hi! What a truly great group of people. We can not say thank you enough!! The food and impeccable service made our day even more special.

All our guests are still talking about Red Sky!

I wish I could give more than 5 stars to Red Sky Catering. Red Sky catered 3 events for our wedding in December 2022. When we did our tasting in December of 2021 we were hooked. The food is absolutely incredible. We selected to do family style at our wedding and our guests were blown away. Each table received a long wood tray with all of the variety of delicious selections on it. Everyone was blown away. We did not stop getting compliments about the food and presentation. The staff was absolutely incredible. We worked closely with them as we got closer and all of our visions came true. We had a variety of dietary restrictions and vegetarians and they were able to accommodate everyone. We enjoyed every last bite. There was nothing to take home as leftovers! Red Sky also catered our rehearsal dinner and bartended our welcome party and it was fantastic. They came back for a 3rd event for our New Year's Eve party and the food was delicious. We are not local to the Outer Banks but we have visited my whole life. I will always make sure to stop by and enjoy some Red Sky or NC Coast when I am in town.

Amazing Food and Amazing Staff!

Red Sky Cafe catered our wedding this past September and it was all anyone could talk about. The quality of the food is incredible and we opted for a family style meal which was presented on beautiful wood displays for each table. Their staff was incredibly friendly and you can tell the really enjoy what they do. I was so impressed that not only did they continue to check on our guests, they offered to bring out more food for the tables if guests wanted seconds (a lot of people took them up on this offer) and they were so accommodating to any requests we had. When we did our wedding tasting with them a year prior at NC Grill (their other location), we went at lunch time and decided to go back for dinner later that day because it was that good. Highly recommend!!

Highly Recommended Caterer!

Red Sky Cafe's catering team was all around wonderful to work with. The food quality, quantity, and presentation exceeded expectations! Additionally, the staff were attentive, caring, and helpful throughout the planning process and especially during the cocktail hour/ reception. This is well worth the expense for their professionalism, quality, and care demonstrated by the Red Sky team.
We highly recommend consideration of this caterer when planning an important event.

Best caterer in OBX by far!

Not only is redsky professional, responsive and easy to work with but their food rocks. Our guests were so impressed with our welcome party and reception food and they loved our bartenders. The drinks were also awesome. Could not recommend them more. They are by far the best caterers in OBX. Also NC coast is a must go restaurant when you’re in town. Thank you Dena and Bridget! You guys are the best!

The Red Sky Cafe Team was Awesome!!!

We cannot say enough about how much Dena, Bridget, and Chef Wes did to make our daughter's wedding such a special event!

From the moment we first talked with Dena when seeking out a potential caterer for our Whalehead event, we knew that Red Sky was going to be our caterer of choice, and they did not disappoint throughout the entire process. From the awesome tasting event held at their sister restaurant NC Coast to every detail of the actual evening/night of the wedding, Dena, Bridget, and their teams were always responsive, communicative, and insightful. We had a few "out of the box" requests for them including pre-ceremony drinks, an outdoor cocktail/appetizer hour, and a reception in three different areas of the Whalehead Club grounds. And they executed all three areas flawlessly!

The appetizers and food were excellent (we received many compliments telling us it was the best catered food many had ever had) and the service during the reception was impeccable. They had plenty of food, drinks, and friendly service to satisfy all 175 of our guests.

We highly recommend choosing the team at Red Sky Cafe, they will exceed your expectations!

Smooth Sailing

Red Sky created an AMAZING spread for our quaint garden wedding. Our guests were so impressed & post wedding would not stopping talking about the food! Red Sky cooked us bacon wrapped scallops, mac & cheese, prosciutto wrapped chicken, south western shrimp, and more. They even baked the cutest little desserts for our after dinner sweet treats instead of serving the cake my husband and I cut. Red Sky was so thoughtful and prepared a large spread of all the appetizers, sides, and entrees on a charcuterie board for us to ensure we ate. Thank you, Red Sky!

Absolutely amazing!

Writing this review on our 1 year anniversary, and please know that not just us, but many of our guests are STILL talking about how AMAZING the food was! We had stations and passed hors d’oeuvres (stuffed mushrooms, beef wellington, and bacon wrapped scallops were fan favorites!). The waiters & waitresses as well as bartenders were very attentive to our guests. Our venue was at our beach house, so Red Sky used our kitchen and until the end of the night, you would never have known by the way they boxed all the leftovers and cleaned up! We can’t wait to return and head to the restaurant!

Amazing food!!

We had Red Sky cater our wedding of 42 guests on the 4x4 beach in OBX. The food was delicious…we had SO MANY guests comment on how great the food was. The crew worked seamlessly in our kitchen and worked so well with our guests. We can’t thank you enough for an incredible wedding dinner!!

Phenomenal Caterer!

The Red Sky Cafe was an amazing vendor to work with for our wedding reception. From the very beginning of the process they did a great job. The tasting was efficient and delicious. The communication was clear and concise leading up to the event. They were flexible with our location due to weather the week of our wedding. The chefs and servers were so kind and professional. And lastly, the food!!! It was so perfect and delicious. So many of our guests came to us to describe how much they loved the food. 10/10 would recommend!!!

Wow Factor

If you are looking for the “wow” factor, Red Sky has it! Not only is their food absolutely delicious, their presentation of the food on the Chef’s board is a work of art that my guests are still raving about! My fiancé, my family and I went to a tasting and not even the picky eater had a complaint. I spent the next year working with Dena to plan and she was amazing! Not only was she extremely knowledgeable on all of the catering aspects, she helped me think of details I may have missed and offer advice since I did not have a wedding planner. She was transparent with what Red Sky would and wouldn’t be responsible for. Dena was very responsive via email and was always warm, friendly and enjoyable to talk with. Even when I had to make last minute changes to the ceremony and reception location due to the weather, Red Sky was super flexible and accommodating through the chaos. Their staff went above and beyond the day of the wedding to help us get everything done, even tasks they were not responsible for. The chef heard members of the wedding party discussing how the 8-foot guest tables should be set up for the reception and suggested they should be placed at an angle to create a more welcoming space that would allow everyone to see the bride and groom. I am so glad he stepped in because it made a huge difference in the vibe of the space! I have nothing but compliments to give Red Sky and would highly recommend them for any catered event.

Absolutely delicious!

Red Skye did an amazing job at my daughter's wedding In May'22. From the very beginning, Dena was very professional and responsive to all my questions and needs. The food was fabulous and so delicious. The staff was extremely professional and attentive to all our needs the day of the wedding. They left the kitchen cleaner than it was when they arrived. We had a small wedding reception of 35 people and I would definitely recommend Red Skye to any future bride,. They were top notch and the food was amazing. We received so many compliments from our guests.

Cannot recommend them enough!

I just wanted to take a minute to say how please we all were with not only the food, but the service we received on our wedding day. Red Sky Cafe really went above and beyond with their service (clearing dishes, cutting the cake, boxing up food for us and for guests, making sure the kitchen was spotless during and after and making it all run so smoothly) and it really made the day feel extra special. Everyone was raving about all of the food too and we all could not get enough. They were also more than accommodating to any dietary needs/restrictions we brought up. I will always remember our experience, so thanks to Red Sky Cafe for helping us make such a memorable day, even more memorable.

Outstanding service and food selection

All of the food was spectacular (we still have guests telling us how awesome the food was)! The presentation was perfect as well, they matched the theme of the wedding perfectly. We couldn't have asked for more, next time we need something catered we will be calling them!!!! Everything was perfect on our wedding day.

Incredible

We use Red Sky Cafe to cater our rehearsal dinner and reception. They was nothing short of amazing. I didn’t have to worry about them or focus any attention towards them while I was getting ready myself for our ceremony. For both events everyone was so easy to get along with and cleaned all our rentals up so all we had to do was put them back outside to be picked up. If we plan any big event again in OBX, it’s not even a question who were looking into for catering.

Everything was PERFECT!

I initially found Red Sky through a suggestion from my wedding and planner.

I have to say, I was blown away just by the tasting alone. Chef Wes and Dena were both very attentive and checked on us to make sure everything was to our liking. Dena made it very simple when I decided to move forward in hiring them for our special day, she constantly kept in touch to make sure everything was well. When the day of the wedding came I was wowed by the staff and the food at Red Sky. They listened to any requests I myself or guests made, interacted with everyone and some of the girls even got on the dance floor with us! All my guests couldn’t stop talking about how excellent the food was. I could never thank Dena and her team enough for playing such a crucial role in my big day!! I cannot say enough amazing things and recommend them enough☺️

A Magical May Wedding

Though the Covid-19 Pandemic tried to thwart our plans for a casual-chic sound side wedding in the Outer Banks of NC, Red Sky Cafe, who catered our event, helped make sure that was not even close to the case.

We whittled our guest list down by two-thirds to the recommended number of 50, according to NC safety guidelines, and worked with Red Sky to ensure that our delicious menu was not compromised, while serving the food as safely as humanly possible. Dena, the catering director, especially, was instrumental in ensuring that our every desire for safety, aesthetics, and flavor were exceeded.

We insisted that every (mostly plant-based or vegetarian) dish was individually packaged for each of our guests: a trio of scrumptious hors d'oeuvres tucked inside white "clamshell" boxes; all components of our elegant picnic dinner served up in lidded cardboard containers with our special wedding napkins and bamboo flatware tied with twine inside white boxes with handles and custom wedding monogram stickers; and homemade coconut cupcakes perched inside clear, lidded containers surrounding our gorgeous cake.

With recommendations from Red Sky, we researched and purchased all the paper goods/disposables/compostables and beverages, and Red Sky filled/served/presented them in a way that felt highly skilled and professional, yet gracious, relaxed, and welcoming.

Dena and her team helped make certain that all of the minor challenges of our casual picnic-shelter-at-the-diminutive-marina site were embraced and transformed into opportunities to create beauty and memorable moments for all.

The result was a lovely, semi-rustic wedding with rave-worthy food made even more expansive by the love, support, effort, and goodwill of caterer, rental vendor, venue owners, and our inner circle--who traveled from near and far--in the midst of a pandemic, to celebrate our union.

We are so grateful to Red Sky for embracing our vision during unprecedented times and for being so key to ensuring that our special, but relaxed, day earned "favorite wedding status" among our people.

We are forever grateful and highly recommend.

Delicious - 10/10!

When we had to cancel our wedding due to covid, Red Sky was kind enough to put our deposit towards an at-home catering dinner the next time we were down. We did the "favorite" menu option and were thrilled with the meal. Our favorite was RJ's take on shrimp and grits - absolutely amazing. Everything was delicious though - we will definitely do this again the next time we're down for a vacation! 10/10

Fantastic overall

Our entire experience with the Red Sky Catering Team was phenomenal from the very beginning. When we arrived for our tasting we felt so welcomed by Chef Wes and the entire team, the food was beyond delicious that we went back for dinner that same night. Professional and very helpful

The Red Sky Cafe catered my daughter and “son’s” rehearsal dinner, wedding, and morning after brunch. EVERYTHING was delicious and plentiful! Their staff was phenomenal…friendly, accommodating…the best! All the guests raved about the food for each event. Raw bar was a big hit at the wedding. Beignets at brunch were amazing! Highly recommend!!!

Phenomenal!!

If you are just starting to plan catering for your special event or want a meal worth every cent and then some… look no further!! Seriously.
We choose Red Sky Catering for our wedding in July (2021) and they truly were amazing.
From our very first interaction with Dena J. (catering coordinator) it felt like we were talking to an old family friend. She was kind, listened to our needs/wants and gave us helpful pointers. She even took the time to help direct us with flowers as we are not local to the OBX and planning our wedding from PA.
You can easily tell Dena genuinely cares about her clients and her job. She is extremely knowledgeable, professional and promised the same from her staff on our wedding day.
Well she wasn’t kidding. The ladies from the catering staff were incredible. They blended right in with our family chatting up and assuring everyone was taken care of. They even went above and beyond helping with pinning boutonnières and picking up after the wedding. Amazing!!
There’s a difference between a job and a passion. And these beautiful women were passionate about what they do and the people around them.
And most importantly, the FOOD!!!
Incredible. Phenomenal. Unforgettable.
There aren’t enough words for it. From the gorgeous presentation to the quality and taste…there’s no comparison. The food was a beautiful representation of the Outter Banks.
It’s has been over a month and we STILL have family talking about how amazing the food was.
Do yourself ( and your friends/ family) a favor and just go with Red Sky. You will be SO happy you did.

Wedding catering

We had a wonderful experience with Red Sky for our wedding from the tasting through the post wedding brunch! We got tons of compliments on the food (shrimp and grits is a must!!) and everyone we worked with was quick to answer and very professional! Would definitely recommend.

Simply the best!

We were first introduced to Red Sky Cafe during a friends wedding a few years ago and thought the food and service was outstanding. Due to this, we decided to utilize them for our wedding reception catering, day after brunch and a few chef on call options during the week we stayed in the Outer Banks area. All I can say is WOW, we were happy we made this decision. Every meal the food was excellent and exactly what we had in mind. The service was above and beyond what we were expecting and they were extremely professional. We loved the Red Sky Staff and the lead Bridget did outstanding. Chef Wes even brought us down some appetizers while we were stuck on the beach for wedding photos after the ceremony! All in all a fantastic experience and without a doubt we will utilize them for any event we have in the Outer Banks area in the future.

Wonderful Food and Service

Red Sky catered the Rehearsal Dinner for our Son's wedding in Duck, NC in May. In spite of several glitches, none of which was the fault of Red Sky or controllable, the Chef and service staff were incredibly professional, friendly, flexible and accommodating. The food was exceptionally good (the Shrimp and Grits are the best in the area) and was nicely presented. In addition, the Chef and owner of Red Sky, Chef Wes, dropped by to offer his congratulations to the Bride and Groom and check on the dinner service. We were made to feel like our party was his most important consideration of the evening, and it meant a lot to the Bride and Groom since the his two restaurants in Duck have been longtime favorites of the family. Overall, I cannot speak highly enough of Red Sky's catering, from the planning (with much help from Dena Jakubosky for her patience with the many menu changes that were made prior to the dinner) right down to the clean up and delicious left-overs which were very much enjoyed by the family. We were thrilled to have Red Sky cater our event and would highly recommend them to everyone!

Dena and her team were amazing from start to finish! We hired Red Sky Cafe for both our rehearsal and reception and it was the best decision we could have made. When we went to our tasting every single item we tried and luckily we had two dinners to pick as many options from the tasting as possible. The days of the events the staff was super helpful and amazing in every way. We had the same bartender both nights and she was FANTASTIC. Being the bride she made sure I always had a drink in hand and made the best lemon drop shots!

Amazing Food & Service!

Kellogg Wedding

We had the pleasure of having Red Sky cater a pre-wedding/ welcome brunch for our family, as well as our wedding the following day. Everything we had was DELICIOUS!! The wedding food was cooked in our kitchen which had my mind blown, because everything we ate was so fresh & flavorful!! They cleaned up after themselves & had it not been for all the leftovers they graciously wrapped & put in the fridge for us, you would’ve never known they had just threw down in there!! We visit the Outer Banks just about every year, Red Sky Cafe is always on our list of must eat places while in town!! From the first email & call to inquire about availability, etc, Dena was so easy to work with. We did have to make small adjustments on time, and she worked with us & made it happen! So thankful for all the staff at Red Sky Cafe for helping to make our day special!!

Amazing Service for Intimate Brunch Wedding

Due to Covid we elected to have a small intimate ceremony at one of the many beach houses in Nags Head. We made a last minute decision to have the brunch catered and decided to go with Red Sky because of the menu (they have beignets!) and pricing. So glad we went with them. They set up and food was ready to eat once we got back from the ceremony on the beach. The food was amazing - everyone loved it! and there was plenty - we ended up enjoying the left overs the rest of the day and the next day. Was a completely amazing day and Red Sky definitely delivered!

Well Done!

Red Sky did an amazing job with my rehearsal dinner and wedding. Years ago I had hired them to do a 50th birthday party dinner and they did such a great job that they were at the top of my list when I went to look for a caterer for my wedding. From the taste testing on, they were professional, courteous, and thoughtful in trying to direct my choices to keep me within my budget. Red Sky Cafe was the perfect choice for our wedding.

They catered the rehearsal dinner, the reception dinner and brunch the day after the wedding. The food was delicious and the staff was kind and professional. They took care of everything as soon as they arrived at the rental house - I did not have to lift a finger. The weeks leading up to the wedding were stressful because we had a lot of cancellations due to Covid. Every time I called with a different head count, Deena said "no worries.' All of our guests loved the food! From the rehearsal dinner BBQ to the brunch, everything was delicious! Thank you Red Sky for helping to make our wedding a wonderful experience!

Everything I could have asked for on my wedding weekend

Chef Wes and his staff were absolutely amazing. They all were professional, punctual, and the food was delicious. They catered my Rehearsal Dinner including birthday cake, brunch in multiple locations for day of ceremony, and the reception dinner. Then, 16 family members had lunch the next day at NC Coast Grill. I didn't worry about a thing. The staff was flawless!!! I highly highly recommend Red Sky Cafe and NC Coast Grill.

Best Catering on the OBX!!

If you're looking for your wedding caterer, do your self a favor and stop here! We got married last Thursday, 10/15/20 and Red Sky catered our wedding. It was absolute perfection! We had tried their food a few times, from both Red Sky and their sister restaurant NC Coast...and every time we were just blown away. We did passed heavy hors d'oeuvres with a couple of stationary tables, and from the quality of the food the entire time, to the service...everything went down perfectly. We literally couldn't have asked for anything more. Dena worked with us throughout the entire process and she is just amazing, her attention to detail was impressive.

As many decisions as you have to make while planning a wedding, mark catering off you list...you simply can't go wrong with Red Sky!

Amazing Small Reception Dinner!

Wedding Catering

I found Red Sky through a google search when looking for caterers to cater my wedding! Ever since I contacted Red Sky it has been an awesome experience. They were always communicative, flexible and professional! Since I don’t live in the OBX, they made it very easy to create a menu, discuss options, etc. I was able to go to a tasting one year before my wedding and it was delicious! They understood the vibe and menu that I was going for and helped enhance the flavors with some recommendations and ideas. Due to weather, my wedding had to be moved up an hour and they were very flexible with coming earlier than originally planned. They are moderately priced and the food is awesome! I had wedding guests tell me it was the best wedding food they have ever had! Highly recommend the Shrimp and Grits, Prime Rib, Mini Beef Wellington’s, Sriracha Shanks and Crab Cakes! I heard no complaints and they even left leftovers before they ended their service. Highly recommend!!!

Hands down amazing

My hubby and I decided to elope in the OBX. We didn't want to do a full blown catering service since our party size was so small (only 14 of us total). I found Red Sky's chefs on call service which offered everything we were looking for. Dena was extremely easy and down to earth to work with. She was super relax about the booking process and our guest count. My friends and family were blown away by the incredible service the two chefs provided. They arrived to our place early which was a huge stress relief. They were polite and professional. Our guests raved about the food. Everything ran so smoothly. I honestly was so impressed by these two. I would recommend this place to anyone!

Best decision ever!!

Book Red Sky for your next event. We are big fans of NC Coast since it opened and we worked with Dena to hire a private chef for our 11-person family wedding. He knocked it out of the PARK! Holy moly, I’ve never had such great food. He embraced our ask for a “luau” menu with a bit of a twist and every single dish that came out was so incredibly good. Our family was blown away - everyone could not stop raving about the food. And he was so friendly and took so much care to ensure everything was Covid-safe and accommodating for our guests. We are so incredibly grateful and cannot recommend Red Sky enough. Book them if you can!

So good you'll be too full to dance

I kid you not that we had Red Sky Catering for three straight days during my wedding week and by the end of it everyone just wanted more. Leftovers were taken home TO NEW YORK. People drove leftovers 10 hours in traffic just to eat them the next day.

We were planning our wedding from NYC and never got a chance to go to North Carolina and taste their food, so we were nervous, but wow did we make a great choice.

One special point I wanted to throw in is that last minute our caterer for our Rehearsal dinner backed out due to the pandemic. With a little less than a week’s notice Red Sky created a new menu for the event and delivered it fantastically.

One negative, everyone was so full from the food at the reception that some of the older people were a bit sluggish on the dance floor.

Best catering experience ever!

Red Sky catered our beach front wedding in Corolla, and it could not have been any more perfect. The communication beforehand was easy and thorough, and we were able to do a delicious tasting at the restaurant to help finalize our menu.

At the wedding, the food and service went beyond our expectations and every guest there commented how delicious the food was. The catering staff were so friendly and attentive, I never had an empty drink. They were family friendly and so sweet making Shirley temples for the youngest in attendance.

They truly made our special day even more memorable. We couldn’t have asked for anything different and I highly recommend Red Sky!

Amazing catering for weddings!

We used red sky catering for our wedding and after day brunch. They were amazing; everyone complimented us on how good the food was. In addition the staff was awesome, providing excellent service in food and bar-tending. We had a brunch the day after for my family at the house we rented and red sky left us food so we could just heat up the next day so we could eat on our own time. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for catering services!

Just the perfect experience!

We live in PA and traveled down for one of the OBXWA expos to meet with vendors. Immediately upon meeting the Red Sky team we were greeted with smiling faces and beautiful displays. They were open to our thoughts and ideas and we decided to book them for our rehearsal dinner (at the restaurant), our reception dinner and then a post-wedding brunch the following day. Red Sky Cafe and Catering... best ever!

It was wonderful to meet Dena, your staff and Wes during our stay. THE FOOD WAS AMAZING! Everyone raved about the meal at the reception. Truly. Everyone said it was the best filet ever... and also the fish was delicious, melt in your mouth, yummy! Chorey and Bridget were wonderful during all of the events.

In fact, the entire week of menu's were well received by all. We had plenty of left-overs to enjoy the next day--- and, they didn't last much longer than that with our Spanish millennial. They are accustomed to late nights... so, would snack on the food at the wee hours. The elder generation would finish them off (what was left) for lunch!! The desserts were also a big hit... and took no time to disappear with coffee and tea. (I am certain those were devoured in the wee hours as well!).

All in all, we could not have been happier, and certainly could not have done it without you. Your patience and guidance were most appreciated. The selections were perfect. We loved everything.

Again, many thanks for all of your help. The week was a wonderful success, capped off with the wedding, and the food was a major part of it all. Thank you for making our visit much easier, delicious... and extremely appreciated by everyone!

Duck wedding in private home

We took a leap of faith by hiring Red Sky Cafe for our rehearsal dinner, wedding and brunch! We had never eaten at their restaurant or tasted their food. The catering manager, Dena, calmed our nerves with her knowledge of menu options and her southern charm. Bridget, the Catering Lead, was extremely professional, organized and helpful throughout the night. She made several runs back to the restaurant for items we forgot, which was totally unexpected but greatly appreciated. Ken the bartender put his own special touch on our drink selections, bringing some of his own ingredients. Even Chef Wes made an appearance at our event to make sure all went smoothly. Overall, the food and staff at each event were fantastic and all our guests raved about the cuisine for several days afterward. On all fronts, an exceptional experience with Red Sky Cafe!

“Red Sky Café Restaurant’s Catering”, provided service for my son and daughter-in-laws rehearsal dinner and wedding reception, in Corolla, NC - “The Outerbanks”. Exceeding Expectations!

My entire experience with Red Sky was absolutely wonderful! We booked Red Sky for both our wedding and rehearsal dinner. Dena and Chef Wes are amazing professionally, but they are even better people! Red sky’s food is out of this world, 5 stars every time! We had so many compliments from our guests on how delicious the food was! Throughout the entire planning process, Dena and Wes overwhelmed us with their generous hospitality and their eagerness to make sure our wedding day was everything we wanted it to be. Dena was very responsive and I could feel how she genuinely cared about us! I enjoyed each step along the way and I feel so lucky to have been in the wonderful hands of everyone at Red Sky. Our wedding turned out better than I could have ever pictured! I will always be grateful for their service and look forward to visiting on our one year anniversary!

Amazing Restaurant for Events and Regular Dining

My husband and I were fortunate enough to work with The Red Sky Cafe for our Wedding Rehearsal Dinner. We worked closely with Dena for our in house event with them. Exceptional customer service, such good food, friendly staff. The entire place went above and beyond to make our dinner so special & intimate. They worked around our budget needs to make our dinner happen with them. I highly recommend this place for any events, catering and regular dining.

Wedding Reception

Red Sky Cafe catered at our wedding. They sent a chef to prepare the food at our house and everything was fresh. We did the taco bar and everyone absolutely loved it. The staff were super friendly and professional. The sevice included chef, one server and one bartender. I highly recommend Red Sky Cafe for large parties. Delicious and an amazing staff!

We used Red Sky Cafe for four of our wedding events; the welcome dinner, wedding day brunch, wedding reception, and next-day seafood boil. The food was out of this world!
My husband's email to the Red Sky Cafe perfectly captures our sentiments... Below are some excerpts...
"Your staff was professional, courteous, attentive, and flexible. As the Groom, I had 100 things on my mind - most of all my beautiful Bride - your staff was always there to assure me that they had our back and would make it happen. Weather was uncooperative on the day of our wedding but, our guests, our caterers (Red Sky), our vendors, and photographers made the best of everything. We could not be more thankful! All of the dishes from the welcome dinner through the seafood boil were on point and everyone raved about the food. You guys were great and we are so very happy that we asked you and Wes to host all of our meals."

The food was out of this world

Wedding reception perfection

We hired Red Sky Cafe for our rehearsal dinner and wedding at an event home in the Outer Banks. The food was even more fantastic and beautiful than when we sampled it. The staff was incredibly helpful. Dena and Randy has the staff organized perfectly and asked all the right questions to make our event run smooth. They were quick to answer my emails planning from afar and provided lots of great feedback and ideas. We were so happy and our guests from NJ raves about the creative and flavorful food for each the rehearsal and reception.

Unique (and delicious!)!!

Red Sky delivered a truly unique and special wedding reception. The presentation of the meal at the head table was gorgeous and the food was amazing!! We chose a variety of main dishes and sides and were not disappointed. Chef Wes also used a family pasta recipe to give me a piece of home that was so so SO appreciated!

We were still at our vacation house for another day following our wedding. The leftovers did not go to waste!! We were so happy to have extra appetizers and side dishes left for us to enjoy. They were still amazing the next day.

Also, my father-in-law even stopped back at Red Sky Cafe to inquire how the fish was made he loved it so much. All of our guests loved their meals. We received SO many compliments!

All around AMAZING!!

Chef Wes and his team were amazing from day one. Red Sky was at the top of our vendor list after dining there for many years during vacation. They catered our rehearsal dinner, wedding and brunch on the 4x4 in Carova at the Hemingway (10/4/18-10/6/18). Everything was top knotch and the display was amazing. Chef Wes was awesome during our tasting and Dena was super organized and helpful via text whenever! It was one part of the day I didn't have to worry about.

We continue to get compliments on how good the food was and how wonderful the staff was. Thank you so much for being a part of our special day, it was wonderful!!! And special shout out to chef Wes for making me a prime rib sandwich before walking down the aisle 😍😍

Can't wait to be back in OBX and go to dinner at Red Sky.

wes and his team did an outstanding job. you would not have known you were at a wedding, the food was fine dining quality. just spectacular. all of our guests raves it was amazing. the bartender he provided was delightful and did a great job. i found wes to be personable and offered a wide selection of food options to choose from. if you’re not having a wedding go eat at his cafe in duck. his food is fantastic.

The Red Sky Cafe catered our wedding at the Grande Ritz Palm on 9/23/17 and I'm so glad they did. We continue to get compliments on how good the food was and how wonderful the staff was. The food was just as good as the leftovers we heated up the next day. They were so easy to work with from the moment I booked them to setting up on wedding day. They even put out the napkin linens even though we were supposed to do that ourselves (sorry!!) Thank you so much for being a part of our special day, it was wonderful!!! The guests will always remember how amazing our food was!

Since we had a small intimate wedding we choose to hire Red Sky café to come into her home and have a personal chef provide dinner to her family and gas after our wedding. From the very beginning the general manager was very responsive provided details on the menu and the options very flexible with our guest until 30 days before the wedding and stayed communication with us. The food was absolutely amazing there was plenty of leftovers and her guest raved about all the menu items. The pricing for the food was worth every penny! The personal chef was very accommodating and there was no mess left behind when he was finished. You will not be disappointed hiring Red sky café!

The Red Sky Cafe was amazing! We are from Pennsylvania & had our wedding in the OBX. We had met with Jenn & Chef Wes a few months beforehand the wedding. The presentation was beautiful but the food was so great! We had actually met with a few different vendors but Chef Wes blew it out if the water! Everything we tasted was so good it was hard to decide when it became time to pick the menu. We are Mac & Cheese fanatics & it was so cheesy & perfect! Also, if you love General Tso you will absolutely love the Sweet N Smokey Shrimp appetizer! It was a huge hit. We also got the Beef Tenderloin & Chicken Roulade. If I had to do it again, I would have got the same things but would have just made time for me to eat more of the appetizers! Highley Recommend The Red Sky Cafe, so much that every year we go to the OBX we have now decided that we are going to go there every year on our anniversary to hopefully get some of our tasty eats from our wedding!

Red Sky was the best food choice for our wedding on May 13, 2017 at Grande Ritz Palm in Duck, NC! We booked them at the wedding expo that January before our wedding after only trying a few samples of food. We knew whatever they cooked would be amazing and that turned out to be true!

Jen was awesome to work with and made out of town planning easy. Corey and the crew were awesome the day of the wedding and I had no worries at all! Thank you so much for an amazing catering experience! I highly recommend Red Sky and would use them for any catering event in the future!

I suck and have been meaning to the this review for months!!!!! Red Sky (especially Jenn!!!) made our wedding fabulous and over the top! We had the most amazing meal and everyone told me that it was some of the best food they have ever had! We picked Red Sky after talking to Jenn via email and every single time I talked to her I fell more in love!! I emailed her so much I thought she would get sick of me...nope, just helped me and we figure things out together. She helped perfect my entire menu (apps, salad, dinner and cookie cake...YUM!!!!!). Bonuses include: an amazing trial of the most amazing things they offer, visiting the restaurant and being made to feel very special!!! If I did it all over again, I wouldnt change a thing about my catering service!!!!!! LOVE!!!

best catering in the outer banks. We only had two tastings before red sky, each were good but Chef Wes was amazing. They also helped us decide on our wedding cake.... if you want the southern feel stick with the pig picking cake. We didn't need to spend hundreds of dollars on a cake and this was perfect. Everyone at the wedding loved it, but most importantly they loved all the food. we all went back after the wedding and finished what was left. the shrimp and grits is the best ever. I usually am not a fan of buffets but the food was fresh and delicious you would have never even known. definitely recommend them! can't wait to go there for our one year year anniversary so we can eat the food & cake all over again. (if we don't go before then :))

I want to tell anyone who is planning a destination wedding in the OBX to contact this professional establishment. We rented an 18 bedroom home in the 4x4 area of Corolla for our daughters wedding and they did the catering. What a wonderful job it was! They came to the home, prepared everything from the rehearsal dinner to the wedding itself, plus brought brunch for the guests the next day. We did not have to do anything but enjoy ourselves and our daughter's wedding. They came, cooked, served, bar tended and cleaned up and you hardly knew they were there. We were treated like we were in a 5 star establishment instead in the home we rented. Our group had a family emergency during our weeks stay and had to drastically change our numbers at the last minute. Jenn graciously worked with us to make these changes at no penalty. The bride is a vegetarian and they prepared a special meal for her at no extra charge. The food was great and the people who came to our home were like friends. I don't see why you would ever go to anyone else.

Red Sky was highly recommended by a friend that lives in OBX. During the OBX wedding expo we tried all the other vendors, but found that not only did Chef Wes have the best food, he was also the nicest and most accommodating to our needs. Although we were sold on the spot, the tasting appointment we did afterwards was even more amazing, featuring a wide-array of seafood and meat dishes. We had our reception inside the beach house we rented with a buffet-style dinner for about 80 people. On top of the food being terrific, the service was punctual, friendly, and helpful. Since most of our guests from out-of-town, it was nice giving them a taste of some local fare, especially the shrimp and grits. Other notable items we had were the mini-beef Wellingtons, Bistro Steak, stuffed mushrooms, rosemary potatoes ... my mouth is starting to froth writing this review and I have to stop because it's making me so hungry. Go with Red Sky!
