My Wife and I used Kerri from The Proper Setting LLC as our wedding coordinator and she was AMAZING! She was very detailed and made the planning process so easy. We loved our weekly meetings where we would go over what we still had to do and what we had been able to check off the list. She also has terrific relationships with all of the top vendors in the OBX and was great at steering us in the right direction. Our wedding was basically perfect and Kerri was the biggest reason for that. Her and her team are extremely nice but also get things done and the day of the wedding when little inconveniences popped up she took care of them immediately. We can not be thankful enough for the work she did allowing my wife and I to enjoy our big day and focus on memories that would last a lifetime rather then be worried about things going wrong. The Best Decision We Made – Kerri Made Our Outer Banks Wedding Unforgettable!
We are beyond thrilled with our experience working with Kerri as our wedding planner for our wedding at Hill Runner on Corova Beach. From the moment we spoke with her, we knew we were in the best hands. Planning a wedding on the remote 4x4 beaches of the Outer Banks could have been overwhelming, but Kerri made it feel seamless, stress-free, and genuinely exciting.
Kerri brought our vision to life in a way we didn’t even think was possible. She knew exactly how to work with the unique challenges of the Corova location. Her local expertise was invaluable, and her connections with top-notch vendors made every detail come together flawlessly.
On the day of the wedding, everything was absolutely stunning. The ceremony setup was straight out of a dream, and the reception at Hill Runner was elegant, relaxed, and beautifully coordinated. I am delighted to write this review of Kerri Catino-Nason and Danielle Fenyak of The Proper Setting, who were nothing short of amazing in planning our daughter's destination wedding in the Outer Banks in May of 2025. From the very beginning of the planning process, Kerri's extensive knowledge of the area and local vendors was invaluable. She helped us choose the perfect venues for the ceremony and reception and both venues captured the essence of our daughter's elegant garden party vision perfectly.
Planning a wedding from afar can be overwhelming, but Kerri made the process incredibly smooth. She was always available to answer our questions, provide updates, and offer suggestions that made the vendor selection process much easier. Her attention to detail was remarkable; she thought of things we hadn't even considered, making sure our daughter's wedding was not just beautiful but also functional, comfortable and enjoyable for everyone.
Throughout the planning process, Kerri's positive attitude and impeccable organizational skills made the entire experience easier and less stressful than we anticipated.
On the day of the wedding, everything was executed perfectly. Danielle, Lela and their team were on top of every aspect, allowing us to relax and fully enjoy our special day. The Proper Setting team and the other vendors we hired (caterer,
photographers, DJ, videographer, decorator, rental company, baker and florist) often work together on events and they did so flawlessly during our wedding. The event ran
seamlessly from beginning to end. It was clear that Kerri's expertise and dedication made all the difference.

Working with Kerri was one of the best decisions we made for our big day. From the very first conversation, she was warm, down-to-earth, and genuinely excited to help us, and that energy never faded.
Kerri was so easy to talk to and always quick to respond, which honestly made a huge difference. Whether we had a random late-night question or needed help making a last-minute change, she was always there with a calm, “Don’t worry, I’ve got it” attitude that instantly put us at ease.
Her organization was INCREDIBLE! Everything was mapped out, every vendor was coordinated, and she somehow kept track of a million little details without breaking a sweat. On the wedding day, things ran so smoothly that we didn’t even think about logistics once. It just all worked, like magic — but we know it was because of all the work she did behind the scenes.

There are not enough words to express the love my husband and I have for Kerri and the Proper Setting team! From the moment we got engaged, hiring a wedding planner became one of our top priorities, especially since we’re not local. It was the best decision we could have made! We chose Kerri for her industry expertise, attention to detail, and her sincere effort to understand both my husband and me as a couple, ensuring our wedding truly reflected our personalities. Kerri was by our side every step of the way, always available through texts and calls. She brought our vision to life in the most stunning way.
One of Kerri's standout qualities was her ability to make us feel comfortable; we knew we could approach her with any concerns, and she would work tirelessly to address them (4 days before our wedding my MIL, had a request that was pretty much impossible but Kerri did everything possible to help find a solution) always prioritizing our needs. This meant the world to us. On our wedding day, she handled all the chaos, ensuring everything went off without a hitch. Even when we faced unexpected challenges (like a tornado warning and Hurricane Helene), she was determined to get us married on the beach, doing everything possible to make our dream a reality. We felt completely reassured knowing we were in such capable hands, and honestly, our wedding wouldn’t have been the same without her.
Kerri is truly extraordinary and wholeheartedly dedicated to her job. Throughout the planning process, she became a friend and a second mother to us. I’m genuinely sad that our wedding is over and that our monthly calls have come to an end! I can’t say enough wonderful things about Kerri. Outstanding experience with The Proper Setting!
I naively believed I could handle the wedding planning for my daughter being that I have corporate event planning experience. However, once we began the wedding planning process, I could see this would be a different experience for my daughter and I - one that is very personal and involves some emotions and stress. I really needed to be accessible only as a "mom" to my daughter. We found that Kerri's industry knowledge, OBX relationships and professionalism was exactly what we - and all brides and mothers of the bride - need to plan your special day. From vendor selection, contract review, negotiations and advocating for the bride through the entire process, Kerri's advice and direction was flawless. As far as execution, I cannot praise her enough. Our vendors were lock-step with one another as her communication was exceptional. She listens to her brides and makes their dreams come true. It is without hesitation that we endorse Kerri Catino-Nason and her services. PS - she plans weddings outside of the OBX as well! -

May 2024 Whalehead Club wedding planner
We cannot say enough good things about Kerri and the team at The Proper Setting. Our Whalehead Club wedding in Corolla, NC exceeded our wildest expectations in every way! It was the best day of our lives to date, in large part because of Kerri’s exceptional event management from start to finish. We live on the west coast and Kerri was incredibly accommodating with time zones for all of our planning calls leading up to the big day. She provided just the right amount of nudges to keep us on track with deadlines and payments and decisions, somehow without being nagging or pushy. Her connections and deep relationships with all the other Outer Banks wedding vendors were INVALUABLE! We really felt like we had a full team working together to make our day incredible. All of the documents we needed including the day of run of show, ceremony outline, contracts etc were organized in a shared Google folder we could all access and edit together, which we loved. She brought humor and levity to a process that can be incredibly stressful and time consuming for brides and grooms and helped us in vendor negotiations to make sure we got our vision across!
The week and day of coordination on site in Corolla is really what makes The Proper Setting stand out! We did not worry about one thing during our entire wedding day. Expect for maybe getting no sleep the night prior and having too much fun haha. Kerri ensured that everything from the shuttles to the first look and the cocktail hour, band introductions, impeccable meal service and reception went on smoothly for our nearly 200 guests! It was all INSANELY amazing and we will never forget a single detail. She helped with tiny details like making sure our wedding signs were beautiful and practical and that we had a designated guest responsible for taking home all of our gifts and other items at the end of the evening.
10/10 cannot recommend enough! Kerri will forever be a part of our OBX memories and if you’re getting married on the island, there is no better decision you could make for yourself and your family than to hire The Proper Setting. Thank you, Kerri! We love you. -Sam and Justin -

Kerri and her team were the best money we spent for our wedding by far!! I didn't think I needed a wedding planner, but my mother and mother in law told me I should just look as we live in PA. We booked Kerri 2 years prior to our wedding and she was so helpful, understanding, and just an overall great human! She listened to every question, concern, and piece of drama I told her with complete care and helped me through everything! We are from PA so she made the process of planning an out of state wedding, so seamless! She did not push or question anything I ever wanted and helped a vision come to life that I was struggling to see myself! If you are planning an event, Kerri and her team are by far the best! Her and Danielle the week of the wedding were life savers and created the best day ever for my now husband and I! I will never be able to thank them enough and am forever grateful for them! Kerri and Danielle were fantastic! I would not have survived the wedding planning process without them. A few things that make the Proper Setting the ultimate dream team – great attention to detail, vast knowledge of all the tiny details that go into making a wedding perfect, close relationships to local vendors and just really wonderful people to have on your side. I was expecting to be a nervous wreck in the hours leading up to our ceremony, but I was uncharacteristically calm, and I owe a lot of that to Kerri and Danielle working behind the scenes to make sure our wedding went off without a hitch (we had to move to Plan B after having a week of wonderful fall weather) Cannot recommend the Proper Setting enough – they are the best of the best and you will not be disappointed!! -

Kerri and her team at The Proper Setting we absolutely wonderful to work with. The planning process was made SO easy with Kerri's attention to detail and her knowledge and experience working with vendors locally. She had great recommendations all around, from vendors to decorations to small details that I would not have even considered about the wedding day of timeline. Kerri went out of her way to meet us multiple times in person throughout the process and took care of the majority of the paperwork and communications with our vendors which took a huge weight off of our shoulders in the planning process. To top it all off, we had crazy weather during our big Day and Kerri and her team didn't skip a beat in rearranging and seamlessly getting things moved without disrupting the ceremony and the festivities. She not only provided great insight into the vendors and products that make for an excellent Outer Banks wedding, but she became a friend in the process. Choosing Kerri as my wedding planner was one of the smartest decisions I’ve ever made. I don’t live locally so I knew I needed help planning things from afar. She went above and beyond to make the entire process a breeze. She connected me with every vendor & gave honest feedback while also giving me freedom to make all decisions. She was so responsive, patient, and understanding as my decisions changed throughout the process. She showed up to my rehearsal with Danielle and they quickly went through everything and made sure everyone understood the plan. They meant business!
I keep calling Kerri and Danielle my fairy godmothers because they created a such magical day for us, and they somehow anticipated everything before I could even ask. At some point in the evening, I randomly said to my husband that I wish I had a bobby pin, and out pops Kerri with a handful of them and she quickly fixed my hair for me. Even the fact that we had to move dinner from outside to inside, after experiencing it, I’m glad it happened that way. They made my back up plan better than the original plan and I wouldn’t change a thing.
Kerri told me from the beginning that her goal was to never let the bride know if things go wrong and she stayed 100% true to her word. Everything went off without a hitch and they handled things that I had no idea about until the next day. My wedding was by far the best day of my life, and it would have never happened (at least not successfully) without Kerri and her team’s help. I don’t think I could thank them enough for all the hard work they put into making our day perfect.

If you're questioning whether or not to hire Kerri...do it. I am incredibly OCD and a major control freak. I was engaged for over a year before I hired a wedding planner because I did not want to give up an ounce of control and not hiring Kerri sooner is one of my only regrets.
While I am absolutely love throwing parties and can usually host without a single problem, obviously planning a wedding was new to me and I did not want to spend my day hosting. I fought against the idea of a planner for so long and finally gave in to the idea after about my thousandth stress-crying session. Hiring her was an immediate relief. She let me be in control of everything (just like I needed) but immediately responded to my millions of questions at anytime of the day, and 7 days a week. She helped me with absolutely anything that I asked for and gave me the BEST vendor recommendations. When I tell you that every single vendor I had was literally the best in the business...
The entire wedding was beautiful from start to finish and that was because of Kerri. She connected me to the right people to make things happen and then she oversaw EVERYTHING. I literally did not lift a finger that day, and more importantly, no one in my family had to either. She literally even made my husband's grandmother's coffee. She handled everything and if there were any problems, I didn't know about it. Everything ran SO smoothly and I got to relax and enjoy myself. She greeted the vendors, handled where things went, passed out my tips, literally everything was done for me. I could not be more grateful for her as she is the reason I got to make actual memories on wedding day instead of working. -

I don't have enough positive things to say about my experience working with Kerri and her team. We planned an OBX wedding all the way from NJ for two years. As a designer myself, I requested many details for the wedding that required multiple vendor to work together, game plan ideas, and work as a team to get it all done. Not only did Kerri have solutions for every problem that came up, but every vendor was willing to do anything requested because "they'll do anything for Kerri". I truly would not have been able to pull off our wedding without Kerri! We chose to have our wedding at the stunning Black Stallion, which required us to bring in everything for the wedding day from outside vendors. Kerri and her team are exceptional! They planned our wedding end-to-end, helping us build a timeline and budget, select vendors, design the experience, and managed the day of. In all aspects of planning, Kerri made the process smooth, easy, and most importantly fun. We felt little or no stress throughout the process or the week of as The Proper Setting had worked with all of the other vendors many times over and knew all of the steps that needed to be taken, when to take them, and how to ensure we had the perfect day.
We also hired Kerri to help with the Friday night and Sunday brunch and she made the whole weekend perfect. We didn't have to think about any of the details throughout the weekend, she had the right people arrive at the right times and didn't expect us to do anything but have a blast! I couldn't recommend The Proper Setting more and feel so lucky that we had the fortune of working with Kerri throughout our wedding planning. Only wish we could do it all again!
My best advice for anyone planning a wedding is if you can, hire a planner. And if possible have that planner be Kerri and The Proper Setting. Thank you for everything Kerri and team! -

I never thought I would need a planner for a small 30 person wedding BUT it turned out the be the best decision. I cannot say enough amazing things about Kerri at The Proper Setting! She is literally the best wedding planner anyone could ask for! I live in Michigan and was super nervous about having a destination wedding. I am the type of person who is very detailed-oriented, so planning something as big as my wedding from hundreds of miles away seemed like an impossible task. I am so glad that I trusted Kerri with my wedding, it was (seriously) the best wedding planning decision I could have made! Not only was I looking to plan a big wedding, I was also planning a wedding week at a beach house rental. Kerri helped me with the budget, planning, and everything in between for the entire wedding week and wedding. When I booked the home, it was still being built. I was super stressed about whether the home would be completed in time. Not only did Kerri talk me off the stress cliff (first of many times), she also got on the phone with the rental company, and visited the construction site to take pics and give me any information she could. Being so far away, it was impossible for me to bring all of the wedding items I needed on the flight with me such as wedding favors, decor, etc. Kerri went above and beyond by allowing me to ship these items to her home, and dropping them off at the vacation home we were staying at. Not only that, but several items I wasn’t able to get shipped, she went to the store for me and brought the things that I needed, so that when I arrived, I didn’t have to stress about stopping at the store for any reason. I had my welcome baskets and my wedding favors delivered to her house, and you know who put them together for me so that I didn’t have to stress about that either? Yep, Kerri! I will forever be grateful to her for making the whole destination wedding experience a breeze. One of the other big concerns for me was selecting vendors. I had never visited the Outer Banks before the wedding, so I had no idea where to start with food, photographer/videographer…anything! Kerri was able to recommend some of the best vendors in the area and we were VERY pleased with the options we chose following her recommendation. She was able to accurately capture my vision and guide me to making selections that would make my wedding vision a reality.
Last, but definitely not least, Kerri is an awesome, funny, and caring person. You can never have too many of those in your life, especially when you are planning one of the most important days of your life. No matter how many things I decided to add/change, Kerri handled it all with kindness and efficiency because she knew how important it was to me. Whenever I got too stressed or worried about some wedding detail, she talked me down from my stress mountain, and provided a solution. Even when I got laid off and was stressing about the budget, Kerri lended me her ear and reassured me everything would work out. On the day of my wedding (of all days), it was scheduled to rain all day. I had a beach wedding planned; it was my worst wedding nightmare come true. But, of course, Kerri had an excellent plan in place, and when she delivered the ‘wedding in the tent’ news, I wasn’t as hurt as I thought I would be because I knew I could trust Kerri and it would all work out. And it really, really did. Everything was perfect and gorgeous! I don’t want to brag, buuuut my wedding was awesome! The best day of my life, best week of my life, best time of my life. All the guests had the time of their lives all week, and Kerri had a huge hand in making that happen for us; I couldn’t have done it without her. She helped me create something special, unforgettable, and once in a lifetime. I will forever be grateful for everything she did for me and my husband! So, I said all that to say…if you are a bride looking to have a destination wedding, or just looking for the perfect planner to plan your big day…do yourself a favor, and book Kerri at The Proper Setting! Kerri is absolutely amazing. She was my wedding planner for our June 2020 wedding - I am not sure I would have survived the ups, downs and unknown of COVID wedding planning without her. There are three parts to this review...
Pre-COVID Planning: *If your venue is The Black Stallion - don't even think about looking anywhere else for your planner! She knows the ins & outs of this venue like nobody's business.* She was once the caretaker of the property and has the best connections. She knows what works and what doesn't. She gave us her honest opinion on everything while helping our vision come to life. My husband loved working with her too because she is cool, calm & collected and SO easy to be around.
COVID planning: when March rolled around, I basically stopped sleeping at night. It was such a hard decision to postpone our wedding and Kerri was there with us every step of the way. We had her for month-of planning only, but she cares about her clients so much that she wasn't going to let us flounder without any help. She helped us pivot and plan a smaller intimate ceremony, while working with each vendor to assist in settling contracts for postponing.
Post COVID: Talking to Kerri always felt like talking to an old friend, and now I consider her nothing less. We will never forget how helpful she was and are truly grateful for having chose her to guide us through this process! -

Kerri is simply awesome!
I am the father of the bride. I cannot - in any way - describe the support, guidance, ideas, and focus that Kerri and team provided us. The wedding involved getting 80+ guests to the OBX. We rented two large homes (42 bedrooms in total) and had food and supplies for 5-6 days of guests, plus the rehearsal dinner, the wedding itself, etc. Kerri guided us on the photographer, officiant, caterers, hair/make-up, and everything else. Most of all - always with a smile and an extremely supportive and positive attitude, no matter what. In fact, on the day of the wedding itself, Kerri and her assistant were stranded in a flooded car and not only made the venue on-time, but (with that smile!) she only told us what occurred over a celebratory glass of wine after the reception wound down. She is a pro - and I promise you, you will not be let down!

When we started the wedding planning process, my fiance questioned the need for a wedding planner as I have event planning experience. I said "we need a planner," and then we hired Kerri. From the very beginning she was awesome. Kerri laid out our planning process and checked in with us regularly via email, phone and face to face meetings to make sure everything was on track. We had a few hiccups along the way and Kerri was there to help us through them all- including a hurricane brushing by the Outer Banks just 36 hours before our wedding. Kerri was the calming reassuring voice that helped us get through the bumps in the planning process. She was there to offer sound advice, alternative plans and compassion. Not only is Kerri extremely organized, but she is easy to talk to and work with. When the wedding day came, everything flowed perfectly. The wedding was beautiful, stress-free and fun. Jamie and I had the best day and night, and a HUGE part of that is because of Kerri. When the wedding day came, Jamie said "I don't know what we would have done without her!"
