    Unbelievable experience! Best wedding venue!

It’s hard to sum up how incredibly positive of an experience having our wedding at the Fairmont was, and in particular the experience of working with Kiera. Our wedding was an Indian multicultural and multi day wedding, and the Fairmont was the perfect venue to host the various celebrations. We were able to utilize different event spaces for each of our different events, and all of them were beautiful. A big concern we had going into wedding planning was food, since we were accommodating people with many different backgrounds/preferences and also dietary restrictions. The Fairmont absolutely blew it out of the water for our wedding day, our guests are still raving about the food from the weekend, and the Fairmont made the process of working with an external caterer for one other event seamless.
Overall, the Fairmont was incredibly accommodating to our various requests throughout the planning process, always doing everything possible to make our wedding day the special day we’d been dreaming of. Kiera was always patient with me and my never ending questions/requests, she is truly a rockstar!! I cannot recommend working with Kiera enough and hosting your event at the Fairmont.

    Gorgeous Venue and Incredible Hospitality!

There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe how thrilled we are with our decision to get married at the Fairmont! From the moment we first inquired about the venue to our wedding day, the Fairmont's hospitality was second to none. We worked with Kiera who was absolutely a rockstar! She was always quick and thorough in responding to all of our many questions and concerns for the whole year that were planning our wedding, and always made us feel like she had control over all the details and nuances of our event. She worked with us to make our event work for us--making special items that were not on the menu, accommodating dietary needs, coming up with creative solutions to our concerns, etc. The hospitality at our tasting and over our wedding weekend was incredible and made us and our families feel so special and well taken care of. The venue is truly luxurious. The bridal suite, the amenities, and the overall service were top notch! From the wait staff to the valet to the front desk team, everyone we encountered was extremely accommodating!

In addition to the wonderful experience of working with the Fairmont team, our wedding was truly perfect! The food was delicious (we got tons of compliments on the quality and variety), and the overall logistics and flow of the event were perfect. There were 2 weddings at the hotel at the same time, and Kiera and her team did a perfect job accommodating both and avoiding any overlap or crowding. We did our ceremony and reception in the Colonnade, which is a gorgeous indoor space that almost feels like an indoor gazebo with a circular shape and a raised dance floor in the center. It felt so unique and special and visually beautiful but also had the ease and amenities of being at a hotel. I could go on and on about how amazing the Fairmont is, but my best advice is to book with the Fairmont!

    Best venue in dc!

I'm not sure where to even begin putting into words how PHENOMENAL the Fairmont is. From the moment I toured and saw the Colonnade Room, I knew it was going to be a great venue and it still exceeded all of my expectations. We worked with Carrow initially before Kiera took over for the bulk of our planning and execution and I feel so fortunate to have worked with her. She is incredibly thoughtful, has fantastic attention to detail, and was so responsive throughout the entire process addressing our many questions. She also had some great suggestions during our planning process (such as inspiring us to do a cookbook as our guest book since we're big at home cooks). Rest assured, you and your other vendors will be in great hands with her. The hotel itself is stunning and went under a massive renovation within the last several years which really shows. The Colonnade (where we had our ceremony and reception) is such a unique space to host a wedding in and our guests loved the elevated dance floor. Our guests were blown away by the service and kindness from the entire staff at the Fairmont from the front desk to the bartenders to our reception waiters and bartenders. They were so attentive throughout the entire weekend and made everybody feel at home. When we went for our tasting several months before, I knew we were all going to be in for a treat. We heard from our group that it was hands down the best food they've had at a wedding and we could not agree more. Everything from our passed appetizers at cocktail hour to reception food to our cake and brunch the next morning was top notch. We also did an espresso martini bar and dessert room that was an amazing add on. I could go on and on about the Fairmont and cannot recommend this venue enough - you absolutely will not regret it!

    Perfect Wedding Venue!

My husband and I were married in the Colonnade Room, which was then flipped for our reception. Everything was so beautiful and perfect! The room is just magical - like a little countryside estate right in the middle of DC. Our guests raved about the food! But what really made our day magical was Carrow, the Fairmont’s wedding coordinator. From the first time we toured the place, she painted a picture of what our wedding would be like, and then she delivered! She was so responsive, kind, and understanding. And although I know she was probably working with hundreds of couples, she did an amazing job at making us feel like we were the only ones. She was a huge reason our wedding was as wonderful as it was. I can’t say enough good things about The Fairmont or Carrow. If you’re considering having your wedding here, definitely do it - you won’t regret it!

    Dream DC Indian Wedding

We signed with the Fairmont in Sept 2019 after touring multiple luxury wedding venues in the DC area for our planned 300 person wedding. We were sold initially on the glamorous decor, unique rooms, and superb customer service from Carrow Rasberry. The Fairmont was relatively new to South Asian weddings and we loved how the venue was perfect for the Baraat we envisioned. Like many couples, we postponed our wedding multiple times due to the pandemic. Carrow and her team were always flexible and supportive -- actually the most so out of all our wedding vendors. When our wedding weekend arrived, Carrow and her team exceeded ALL expectations. We were excited to share this gorgeous venue with our friends & family, but the level of customer service that all of our guests experienced was incredible. A few particular features that we believe make the Fairmont THE premier destination in DC to host a South Asian wedding.
    1. Baraat / Courtyard - ours started on M street and wove into the beautiful Fairmont courtyard where I could actually watch from my bridal suite balcony. Perfect! Also, multiple guests told us afterwards that the courtyard led to such an easy communal resort-like ambiance for the wedding weekend. Friends and family could easily gather there for a drink or a snack.
    2. Multiple event spaces that feel so different - we hosted our Sangeet in the Kennedy ballroom, our wedding ceremonies in the Colonnade, and our reception in the Grand Ballroom. Each space was so unique that it didn't feel like the wedding weekend was all in the same hotel.
    3. The Colonnade room - the stage in the middle made a perfect Mandap for our ceremonies. The chandelier with natural light streaming in gave us the feeling of an outdoor wedding without the annoyances of the outdoors. We draped the pillars and were able to use the large stage for both Hindu and Sikh ceremonies.
    4. Beautiful decor - from the carpets to the artwork to the light fixtures, everything about the Fairmont decor was modern elegance. Between the main lobby and the courtyard, we felt that we enough beautiful backdrops for family pictures that we didn't need to run around DC which saved valuable time.
    5. The Fairmont Team - can't stress this enough, the hospitality team was superb. Carrow was always easy to work with, but her team truly went above & beyond during our wedding weekend to make things fun, easy, and enjoyable for everyone.

We know planning a South Asian wedding is an ordeal, and couples certainly want to give business to vendors who are experienced with the nuances of cultural celebrations. Choosing the Fairmont as our wedding venue was one of the best decisions we made - absolutely our favorite vendor from the entire experience.

    Unbelievable Experience! Carrow is Incredible!

We could not recommend the Fairmont more highly! We worked with Carrow Rasberry, who was an absolutely incredible asset as we planned our special day. Carrow and her team anticipated every need. She was always responsive and we loved that she handled everything! She was extremely detail-oriented (a plus for this Type-A couple) and was so open to all of our ideas. She took our ideas and made them come to life! Our wedding felt so personalized.
The Colonnade room, where we had our ceremony and reception, was stunning! The room itself is just beautiful and the lighting was perfect. We loved having the gazebo-like stage in the middle for our ceremony and for the dance floor — it made us feel so special!
The food was amazing, as well! We had such a fun time at the tasting, where the chef and Carrow helped us to alter an entree with a different side dish and the pastry chef made our wedding cake into cupcakes. We received so many compliments on the food — especially the sea bass — from our guests.
The Fairmont was also so flexible when it came to changes in our headcount, something we really appreciated in these times.
We loved our experience at the Fairmont so much! We’d love to come back as wedding guests one day :)

    A fairy tale wedding!!

    PHENOMENAL venue!
We had the perfect wedding here in the Colonnade Room - I can't say enough good things about the Fairmont and about our above-and-beyond fabulous coordinator Carrow. Every single thing went perfectly thanks to her and her staff. The venue is spectacular - it has an outdoors garden feel while allowing you to stay cool and dry inside. All our guest gushed about what a beautiful space it was.
Carrow is THE BEST. She is responsive, flexible, patient, and so so funny. She makes you and your family feel like royalty while still being honest and upfront. We didn't have a wedding coordinator so we had a lot of questions for her and she answered them timely and thoroughly every time. We asked her for help on several things that were definitely beyond her normal duties and she was so accommodating and generous with her time. She reminded us to eat on our wedding day, set aside appetizers and champange for us so we could try those while having a moment to "take it all in" before our cocktail hour, and helped keep the night on track. We couldn't have done it without her.
The food is the best wedding food I've ever had. Every option at our tasting was delicious and the pastry chef even made a special dessert for us that we requested, even though it wasn't on the menu. The tasting was a private tasting which made us feel very taken care of and special.
The wait staff, bell men, and general hotel staff are also the friendliest I have ever encountered.
My parents got married at the venue 30 years before we did, and Carrow even arranged something special to honor them.
The honeymoon suite was decorated for us and had champagne and chocolate when we walked in. It was the perfect way to end the night.
I can't imagine having our wedding anywhere else. I don't have a single bad thing to say about the Fairmont!

We toured several venues before the Fairmont, and it sounds cheesy, but we knew we wanted to be married there as soon as we walked in. Really, I arrived a few minutes before my partner and texted him saying “This place was made for us.” The Colonnade Room is uniquely gorgeous; a circular ballroom with tall windows and a sweeping skylight, beautiful natural light, an elegant chandelier, and a center stage that gives every guest the best seat in the room. We worked with Senior Catering Manager, Carrow, and she is THE BEST. Kind, funny, friendly, experienced, and knowledgeable, she accommodated every request and answered all of our (probably millions) of questions. She made us feel so important and ensured every detail was perfect for our wedding day.
We were married in June 2018, and the Fairmont was our ceremony and reception venue, caterer, dessert/cake maker, and hotel block. From the moment we signed the contract until a month after our wedding, everyone was truly wonderful to work with. They did SO much for our wedding weekend and ensured our guests were well taken care of. The food and drinks were excellent, and we received many compliments from our guests. So many guests told me that the servers and bartenders were funny, skilled, and experienced. Carrow and the team worked with our planner to ensure we stuck to our itinerary and did everything to make our day special. It rained a bit on our wedding day, so Carrow seamlessly moved the cocktail hour from the outside patio to an inside area. My husband and I felt like royalty getting married there, and I cannot speak highly enough of the Fairmont.

We always knew we wanted to have our wedding in Washington, DC and planned on looking at some iconic DC hotels as possible venues. While we saw a few different places, the Fairmont was the first and it had us captured from the moment we walked in the door. Our wedding was in May and Carrow was our Fairmont wedding coordinator. Carrow and the Fairmont helped create the wedding of our dreams. We had the ceremony in the Colonnade, the cocktail hour in the courtyard/loggia lounge space. The reception was held in the Grand Ballroom. No detail was forgotten by Carrow and the amazing staff at the Fairmont. Carrow made the planning process effortless and extremely personalized as she noticeably took a vested interest in our wedding being perfect.

The spaces used for the wedding were perfect for a wedding of about 225. The staff was extremely attentive to any guest’s needs. We are still getting guests talking about how amazing the hotel staff was. On a different level was the food. Wedding food can sometimes be bland and not well done because it is made for the masses. The food at our wedding was unbelievably amazing. People loved the mac and cheese bar during the cocktail hour. They raved over the hors d’oeuvres as well as the dinner and dessert. The wedding cake was beautiful and exactly what we wanted.

Carrow and the hotel really did everything in their power not only to make the entire weekend amazing for us but for all of our guests, whether they were staying at the hotel or not.

We could go on and on about how amazing The Fairmont Washington, D.C. and our wedding coordinator Carrow were. If you are looking for a venue please consider the Fairmont Washington, D.C. They will create the magical wedding you are looking for.

Everyone we worked with was exceptional. Our point of contact took care of everything. All I needed to do was really give him our vendors contact info and pick out the menu. The catering was magnificent. Our guests couldn't stop commenting on how great the food was. The service was spectacular. We were given a suite and there were even rose petals set out on our bed and a bottle of champagne in a bucket.

I have nothing but wonderful things to say about the Fairmont. We chose it because it was so beautiful, and had an outdoor courtyard which not many DC venues have. We are so glad we did! We did both our ceremony and wedding there, which I'd recommend because they transitioned the room beautifully and it was much easier for our guests and us to have the whole event in one place. This is really a 5 star experience, they know what they are doing. We worked with Bob who was great. The whole day went off perfectly and he took care of everything. The food was excellent and all the guests commented on how beautiful it was. They've also recently done a renovation so all of the guest rooms and the lobby are beautiful as well. Highly recommend!

This venue was beautiful, period. There's nowhere else like it in DC. But besides that, working with Jill was a delight - she was completely professional and knew all of my vendors already, and she took care of every detail. The food was also incredible - everyone was talking about it for a month!

Jill Bagga and the staff at the Fairmont truly made our wedding dreams come to life. Being full-time medical students living in FL made wedding planning a bit challenging, but Jill was phenomenal. She was so organized and on-top of everything, my type-A / OCD personality was completely at ease, trusting her and her team to make our vision a reality. We planned the entire wedding in 8 months, with 220 guests attending. If I could get married all over again, with an unlimited budget and no restraints on location, I would still have it at the Fairmont in Georgetown. I felt like a princess and our families were pampered to the fullest. I wish we could relive it!

We had our daughter's wedding reception at the Fairmont, and it was wonderful! The location is great and the hotel itself is beautiful. The food was delicious as well. I think the service deserves special praise. Everyone at the hotel contributed to making all of us feel so well cared for - from the doorman, to the front desk people, to Mark Medrick who oversaw the whole event with warmth and expert attention to detail. They are such a professional team who really know what they are doing and showed great care for us and our guests. We also hosted a brunch there the following day for out of town guests, and that was also beautiful. They are real pros!
The hotel also gave a very good rate for overnight guests, though the overnight parking charge is steep.
All in all, it was a wonderful place to host our wedding and we would recommend it highly.

We held our wedding at the Fairmont Hotel's Colonnade room and it was truly magical. The room is full of natural light, which makes it such a pretty venue - much more so than a hotel ballroom, in our opinion. The hotel's service, food, and cake were also outstanding.

Eric was the shining star of all my wedding planning. We had the best time together food tasting, cake tasting and picking out all the little details the Fairmont had to offer. My reception was grander than I could have ever imagined and it is all because of the hard work Eric and the rest of his staff put in. I was ver insistent on bringing in a lot of my own DIY decor and the Fairmont helped make my dream come true. They were so flexible and pretty much let me do whatever I wanted in terms of decor. I couldn't have asked for a better wedding day! Thank you so much to all of our friends at The Fairmont!

We started looking for venues around the Northern Virginia and Washington, DC area. I made several appointments to look at hotels in the area. The Fairmont was the first hotel I visited, and I met with Mark Medrick. He showed my sister and I the Colonnade Room, and we stopped searching for a venue then; I canceled my other appointments. (The ceremony was at a local church, we only had the reception at the Fairmont.)

The Colonnade Room is a uniquely beautiful space in the city. It is gorgeous, with the elevated dance floor in the middle. Originally, I did not want a hotel wedding because it did not seem like 'us' as a couple, but the Colonnade Room is a beautiful open space with flowers surrounding the Courtyard. The Fairmont itself is also gorgeous. The staff was great (guests commented on this as well) and the rooms luxurious.

I tried to write a full review of my experience, but Wedding Wire won't give me enough room. (I can't say enough good things about the Fairmont.) Let me just say that Mark was awesome throughout the whole process, from beginning, to the tasting and week prior to the wedding, to the day of and night of the wedding. Mark is SUPER organized in terms of responding to your emails, his timeline and the team's execution of the timeline the wedding night. Things could not have gone more smoothly, his team could not be more awesome and professional. I did not hire an outside wedding planner, and there was no need to have one.

After the wedding, I was extremely pleased. Everything went PERFECTLY, and the guests commented on this as well. My relatives said that my wedding set the bar for all weddings in the family. It was an AWESOME experience, I just wish it hadn't gone by so quickly.

You'll fall in love with The Colonade room the second you step into it. We decided to pick The Fairmont hotel as our venue not only for the beautiful space, but for the Catering Sales Manager, Eric Horovitz. I consider myself to be very detailed and organized, so it was wonderful to have worked with someone who was just as detailed and organized as myself. Eric was extremely responsive to all of my phone calls and emails. He truly cared in wanting to a special day for my now husband and I. We met our Banquet Manager the day of our tasting, so we were in great hands the entire night. The food is fabulous and the pastry chef is amazing. All of our guests raved about our cake! Our wedding was truly magically and The Fairmont helped create it for us. You'll be in great hands with the entire staff! From the valet, the front desk, banquet manager, chef, wait staff, catering sales manager, you can't go wrong with The Fairmont!

The Fairmont Washington, DC could not have been a better venue for our son and new daughter’s wedding. It is a gracious room full of light and an intimacy that exists for every guest. On top of it all, from the first moment we walked in to the Colonnade Room until the moment all our guests had checked out of the hotel after the wedding, we were treated with the utmost of professionalism and courtesy. Every single staff member went out of his or her way to be helpful. Driving home from the event we talked about how everything was PERFECT – no glitches, no problems, no disappointments. Every detail was considered and accomplished and every guest felt pampered. Eric Horovitz was incredible. At every point in the process his response time was minutes from when a question was asked. He was never flustered – even by our last minute flurry of questions and requests. He was a calming influence and helped us create and produce a truly magical event. We give the Fairmont an A+++!

WOW! Is all I can say! As soon as I walked into the venue I knew that was the room I wanted to have my reception in! We had our reception in The Colonnade room and it was breathtaking! The staff is fabulous and super helpful! Everyone responds to your emails really fast and they all make sure to accommodate your needs. The room is gorgeous and the hotel rooms are beautiful as well. We will be recommending them to all of our friends!! If you go make sure you ask for Eric H. He is phenomenal and will make your wedding experience SO easy! No need for a wedding planner when you have him :)

This rating scale cannot go high enough to express our satisfaction with this venue. The wedding was exquisite. The planner in charge of our wedding was available 24/7 if we needed him over the nine months of planning, and the "night of" was no exception. Every dollar spent was worth the unparalleled beauty, delicious food, and attentiveness to guests that was provided.

We have received wonderful comments from our guests about our wedding at the Fairmont in DC. They thought it was the best wedding they've been to. The venue is gorgeous! We got married and held our reception in the Colonnade room which is breathtaking. The courtyard area is unlike any other in the city.

One of the important things to my parents and me was the food. The Fairmont did not disappoint. The quality of food at your tasting session is the same quality you get on the day of your wedding. Unbelievably good. Everyone thought the food was amazing!

Mark Medrick was fantastic to work with. He helps coordinate all the details so on the day of my wedding the only thing I had to worry about was having fun and enjoying the festivities. He helps you plan the timeline from the begining of the ceremony to the end of the reception. His staff is wonderful too.

It is not cheap, though nothing in DC is, but I believe what you get is well worth the price.

Please be sure to put the Fairmont on your list of venues to check out before you make your decision.

If you're looking for a venue in Washington, DC you must check out the Fairmont. Not only because it's beautiful Colonnade room and lovely garden, but because of Bob Mikolitch. I can seriously not say enough good things about him. He is incredible. I do not know what I would have done without him throughout the wedding planning process. He is one of a kind. He made the entire process go so smoothly. His attention to detail and help with just about everything was amazing. If we literally had a question about anything wedding related, we called Bob. . . and he was there with an answer. Our special day would not have been the same without him. Now on to the Fairmont. It is a very special place. We had our ceremony and reception in the Colonnade room, and our cocktail hour in the gardens. It was breathtaking. You must check it out. The food was delish! We had many many compliments on the food, and especially the service. The entire staff was amazing and professional. Most of our guests were out of towners and stayed at the Fairmont and could not have been happier. The Fairmont is a wonderful hotel and a beautiful venue for a wedding. I highly recommend it!

When my husband and I began searching for a wedding venue, I was adamant that I did not want a hotel. I had been to enough hotel receptions and didn’t want ours to simply fall in line. So when we included the Fairmont in our shortlist of venues to visit, I did not expect to like it.
We fell in love with it instantly. It’s a beautiful, elegant hotel to be sure, but the ambience sold us. The Fairmont has a classy, upscale feel without the stuffiness or austerity. The level of service is unmatched. From the moment you pull up to the front doors, you are treated like the most important guest they will ever have. Our decision was sealed almost immediately.
Throughout the rest of the planning process, the Fairmont did not disappoint. From the impeccable professionalism of the catering director (Bob Mikolitch) and his staff, to the incredible menu tasting, to the seamless wedding ceremony and reception, we were continually amazed.
Bob was, as I’ve said, the consummate professional and accommodated every request we had. The rest of the catering team jumped to help in any way needed throughout the year.
When our wedding weekend arrived, we had about 110 guests staying at the Fairmont, 160 attending the wedding. Not one guest missed the opportunity to rave to my husband and me about the fantastic weekend they had at the Fairmont. They talked about the quality of service and accommodations, and the elegance of the affair for weeks after. Many hadn’t been to DC in years and this was a wonderful re-introduction for them.
When the event finally arrived, it was perfect. Our ceremony and reception were both held in the lovely Colonnade room, where we had the most beautiful wedding I, in all my bias, have seen. But the true testament was from our guests. We were flooded with emails and texts in the days that followed, all proclaiming that none had been to a lovelier or more elegant wedding. If you choose to have your wedding here, you will not regret a moment.

We LOVE this hotel... venue, rooms, staff, and atmosphere! Our wedding coordinator, Mark Medrick, was absolutely terrific! There are not enough words for us to truly express how grateful we are to him for putting together our wedding...the day was absolutely perfect. We loved the little notes and surprises in our room as well as the details within the ceremony and reception! Thank you so much for everything!

After looking at nearly every hotel in DC for our wedding, my now-husband and I found the Fairmont. As soon as we saw the Colonnade room and the courtyard we booked it--it is, in our opinion, the most beautiful and unique venue available in DC. The planning process was seamless. We worked with Bob and there was never an email or call that was not answered within hours, if not minutes. We never even considered hiring a professional wedding planner because we were so confident that Bob and the Fairmont team had everything under control. They coordinated with our vendors about details so that was not something we had to stress over in the final weeks leading up to the wedding. On our wedding weekend, we (and our parents) were treated like royalty. Before our ceremony, there was a not-so-small hiccup (our officiant had not showed up five minutes before go time), and Bob fixed the situation and got everything started right on time. After everything began, my husband and I really were awestruck at how beautiful everything was. The Colonnade room is absolutely stunning at night (especially in the late fall/winter when the twinkle lights are up). It was the best night of our lives and this was largely due to the attentiveness and professionalism of the hotel staff. I'm not exaggerating when I say that nearly every guest came up to us at some point during the night and said that ours was the most classy, beautiful, fun wedding they had ever been to. Who could ask for more?

One additional note--it made us nervous at other venues (like the Willard) that there could be two weddings competing with each other at the hotel on the same night. There did end up being another wedding on our date in the downstairs ballroom at the Fairmont and there was absolutely no overlap in the two events and we never felt like we were competing for the staff's attention.

My husband and I still get comments from our guests that our wedding was one of the best that they had ever attended and I know Bob Mikolitch and his staff at the Fairmont Hotel is a huge reason for that. When we first began planning, we knew that finding the perfect reception venue would set the tone for the entire event. We had never been to the Fairmont Hotel before our appointment but I had seen their fabulous reviews on WeddingWire and their endorsement in the Washingtonian Bride & Groom. We met with Bob and he escorted us into the Colonnade Room and I got tingles. The Colonnade is absolutely stunning. The elegant room is surrounded by floor-to-ceiling windows that gaze out on their beautiful garden courtyard, which is lit at nighttime by twinkling lights and a beautiful fountain.

Bob was so wonderful during the entire planning process. He was extremely responsive to the many many MANY emails my mom and I plied him with over those months. He was so patient with our questions and requests. Our menu tasting appointment was fabulous! The chefs and wait staff treated us like royalty and their food was beyond spectacular. I think that was one of my favorite parts of wedding planning! The Fairmont pastry chef decorated our cake and designed it exactly as we requested. It was truly beautiful and tasted wonderful! We had one guest stop us after tasting the dessert trio to tell us it was one of the best she has ever tasted.

The entire evening was flawless. Their attention to detail was impeccable and the service was outstanding and respectful. They ensured that the flow of the evening was perfect. It felt like every guest had their own wait staff handling their every need! The sweet touches that Bob left in our bridal suite that evening capped off the most perfect day of our lives. I highly recommend the Fairmont Hotel to every bride and groom looking for excellence. It's well worth the money and there's not a single detail I would have changed. Thank you, Bob!

My husband and I were recently married at the Fairmont in DC. Our wedding exceeded our expectations in every way possible. What originally attracted us to The Fairmont was its gorgeous courtyard, Colonnade Room and lobby area where part of the cocktail hour is held. However, after we met with Mark Medrick (Assistant Director of Catering), we were also excited about working with someone like him. If you get to work with Mark, consider yourself extremely lucky! Mark is one of the most organized, professional and detail oriented people that you will meet during your wedding planning process. Any time that we had a question (and we had many) Mark would get back to us right away. As our wedding approached, Mark went over every single detail with us to make sure that our event would be a success. This included everything from how we wanted the napkins folded at the tables (done during our tasting), what kind of wine and beer my husband and I wanted on hand just for us, what our procession would be like (we also had the ceremony The Fairmont), a list of all of our vendors and what time they would be arriving, and a checklist of items that we should drop off the day prior. In addition, Mark ran an extremely organized rehearsal the day before. These details are just a tiny sampling of what Mark did for us...he is surely one of the best in the business! Before the wedding even arrived, we knew it would be wonderful based on all of the careful planning done by Mark. As for our actual wedding, every last detail was carried out to a tee. In the weeks since our wedding, we have received many emails, calls and letters from our guests about how much they loved our wedding and how wonderful they thought The Fairmont was. The reception room was beautiful, but there were many special touches that really added to our event. For example, one of our guests who was unable to walk during the cocktail hour told us that one of the servers came up to him and asked him what they could get him from the bar. Also, right after we were married, my husband and I went up to our suite for a few minutes of privacy. When we arrived, there was a bottle of champagne as well as a sampling of all of the hors dourves that we had chosen. During the actual reception, every time you looked around, there was someone from the event staff pulling out a chair for a guest who was getting up or sitting down, coming up to the sweetheart table to see what they could get for us and so on. In addition, the food and cake were wonderful too, and much better than your typical reception food. We are still talking about our wedding and could not be happier that we chose the Fairmont!

Dear Brides & Grooms To Be,

Bob Mikolitch and the staff at The Fairmont Hotel were perfection from the moment our guests checked-in through the wedding reception until the last guest checked out! It's not often that a bride and groom fill out a review together, but these newlyweds were was so pleased with the unparalleled individualized care and attention that we received for the entire 2 years we were engaged that we had to write a review together. At every stage of the planning process, Bob was unbelievably helpful and always available to listen and offer advice that helped make our wedding vision into a beautiful reality!

The Fairmont Hotel is a gorgeous venue that has the windowed Colonnade Ballroom overlooking the blooming courtyard. This scene set a beautiful backdrop for our magical evening. The Fairmont Hotel's staff, including the concierge services, bellmen, security and catering staff, were all friendly and happy to lend a helping hand throughout the entire weekend. The food was delicious! Our guests are still raving about the hors d'oeuvres, salads, entrees and desserts. The instant the first truffle risotto balls, lamb chops and butternut squash apple cider soup shots entered the cocktail hour, the guests knew they were going to experience a culinary treat. We got rave reviews on the salad and entrees, but this bride is still dreaming about the strawberry sorbet, and white chocolate mousse cup paired with the most delicious chocolate euphoria wedding cake I've ever eaten (this bride is huge dessert fan!). Our guests thought they were dining in a 5-star restaurant all evening complete with a wonderful plated presentation.

We loved every moment of our wedding weekend! Bob was an absolute pleasure to work with and if he was not there to ensure we were having a wonderful wedding, we would have invited him as a friend and guest! The Fairmont's staff were accessible and always friendly. We cannot rave enough about our experience with Bob and The Fairmont! We look forward to returning to The Fairmont for our anniversaries to bask in the beautiful memories of the truly special and memorable wedding Bob and The Fairmont staff ensured we experienced.

Thank you Bob & the entire Fairmont staff for a wedding that exceeded our wildest expectations!

    With fond memories,
A Very Happy Bride & Groom
    Brette & Jeff

After several months of trying to find the perfect venue, I was introduced to The Fairmont Washington, D.C. and immediately knew it was the place for us. The Colonnade Room is just a gorgeous space and you can't go wrong whether you use it as or go all out investing in drapes and lighting. In addition to The Fairmont being such a beautiful venue, I cannot compliment the staff and their quality of service. No matter what staff member we encountered we were treated with nothing but kindness and professionalism. It's rare to be treated so kindly and I cannot express enough how much we appreciated it! Lindsay, the catering manager we worked with, was absolutely fantastic! She was always available to answer my questions and was very flexible in making our wedding day the perfect day. Whether it was asking the Chef to tweak the menu a little bit or add a specific beer to the bar, Lindsay's answer was 'no problem!' We cannot say enough good things about The Fairmont and their wonderful staff members! Thank you Lindsay and staff for helping to make our wedding so unforgettable and the fairytale we imagined!

Where do we begin...we were so thrilled with our overall experience with the Fairmont Hotel in D.C. that we would give it 10 out of 5 stars if we could! From the moment we checked in until the moment we left following the wedding, we were treated like royalty. First off, Robert Mikolitch is fantastic. He is to wedding planning and coordination what William Shakespeare was to English Literature. We owe him our deepest gratitude for making every aspect of the planning process fun and easy. We couldn't believe how willing he was to cater to all of our special requests. From Kit at the concierge desk, who greeted us with the warmest hug, Jose the Bellman who took great care with our belongings, the chefs who made the most delicious and beautiful plates for our reception, the pastry chef who created the wedding cake of our dreams (and I was especially picky about this detail), to the behind the scenes folks like Melanie, Darien, Lindsey, and Robinson, we cannot say enough great things about this wedding venue. You will have no regrets if you plan your wedding at the Fairmont Hotel. We have not heard a single complaint from our guests about their experiences - only raving about the food, the service, the professionalism of the staff, and the beautiful hotel.
We only wish we could get married to each other again so we could enjoy the experience all over!

The Fairmont DC was the perfect reception venue for my May 7, 2011 wedding. The Colonnade was spectacular. I had about 120 guests and it was the perfect size for my wedding. No other hotel can beat the french door like windows that surround the room, the elegant chandeliers and the ambiance especially at night (candles inside with the garden all lit up outside). The service was just excellent! Mark Medrick was super helpful and worked very well with my wedding planner. No detail was spared. The food was devine. We chose the lobster and mignon duet and it was quite impressive. We particularly enjoyed the food tasting! what fun that day was! A lot of my guests told me it was the best food they have ever eaten. I wish I could re-live that day - it was truly perfection. Thank you Fairmont DC for making my wedding day unforgettable!

The Fairmont is a beautiful hotel. I had my ceremony and reception in the Colonnade room and it was a perfect fit for my 120 guests. I kept on receiving compliments on that room. The location may be more expensive than others, but you truly get what you pay for. Lindsay Saltzberg was my catering manager, and I couldn't recommend her highly enough. My husband and I just held our wedding and reception at The Fairmont Hotel and to say that I had the wedding of my dreams would not even come close! Our wedding day was the most perfect day from the food to the staff everything went perfect. We truly felt as if we were the most important people in the whole world and not just on our wedding day but during the whole time we were planning the wedding.

Robert Mikolitch was an absolute joy to work with and no request was ever too big for him. His attention to detail and wonderful way made planning a breeze and the whole staff made my whole day so easy! He helped us with every request and he just saw our vision and made it happen! I can not say enough about how easy it was to work with him.

Darien Long helped me almost daily with my room block and he was a pleasure and so easy to work with as many times our rooms changed at the last minute. He always helped with a fun email and a smile.

The food was fabulous and our guests are still raving about the dinner, the location, the service and the accommodations.

Have your wedding at The Fairmont! You will not be disappointed I can promise you that.

Our wedding was more than we could have dreamed! We will never forget our special day thanks to Robert, Darien and their team.

I seriously cannot say enough about what a wonderful experience and wedding we had this past weekend at the Fairmont DC! I was able to plan our wedding in 5 mos and stay with in budget all thanks to the great help of catering director Bob Mikolitch who went above and beyond answering my emails (which were numerous), providing vendor info, giving suggestions how to best optimize the spaces in the hotel etc. He attended to every detail even upgrading my parents to a suite with a personal note and champagne. Speaking of the rooms they are all updated and very nice! We got an amazing room rate of $129 a night for our guests which allowed lots of them to stay right there at the venue! The rest of the staff was also phenomenal and super friendly. The venue itself is just gorgeous and even the non-professional pictures we are seeing from family and friends are amazing because of all the natural light the loggia and Colonade Room allow. Our guests have raved about the venue and the entire experience! Our ceremony was in the ballroom and while I was hesitant to do part of the event down in the basement where the ballroom is it turned out really nice and the ballroom has some neats characteristics of its own. And for any foodies out there the food is delicious! My mother said for months that steak for 200 people is never that great because places just cant prepare that many dishes without compromising on taste/quality. Well even she said the next day it was the best food she had ever had a larger event! I could go on and on but I HIGHLY recommend the Fairmont and all it has to offer as both a ceremony and reception venue! PS. you get a small percentage of the wedding cost back as well to use at Fairmont hotels elsewhere for your honeymoon!

Everything on our wedding day was perfect. The staff at the Fairmont is extremely professional, and I always felt I was the only bride they were working with in the months leading up to my wedding. Our guests were awed by the venue--it was magical and stunning. The Colonnade Room and the Courtyard make for gorgeous pictures. Mark Medrick and Bob Mikolitch are some of the best in the business and have tons of experience. I didn't even need a wedding planner because they did EVERYTHING. I wouldn't change a thing!

WOW! That is the first word that comes to mind when I think of the Fairmont. I got married in the Colonnade room, and Mark Medrick was our catering manager. To begin with, there is not a single room in the DC area that can even begin to compare to the beauty of the Colonnade room... the hardwood floor stage, the chandeliers, the natural light, the garden.... nothing compares. This is what initially led us to book the Fairmont- the beauty of the room. But even more phenomenal than the room was the service. Mark Medrick is a consummate professional- he will let no detail slide on your big day. Mark was always extremely fast to return phone calls and e-mails, even when I had a 1,000 questions every day. Mark's attention to detail means you can relax and enjoy your big day, knowing that everything will be taken care of. All of our guests remarked that they had never before been to an event where everyone's food arrived at the same time and was piping hot! The level of service was exceptional, and the food was incredible! Everyone could not stop talking about the delicious food and incredible staff. I could not recommend the Fairmont any more highly. They made sure our big day was PERFECT.

I wish I could give a higher rating than 5 stars!! I had my wedding in the Colonade Room at the Fairmont in early December. It was better than I could have imagined. I worked with Candace Mauerhan and she was a pleasure to work with through the entire process. Her and the rest of the staff were extermely responsive and flexible. The event was amazing and several guests told me that it was the best wedding food that they have ever had. Also, the service was impeccable during the event.

I can't say enough wonderful things about our experience at The Fairmont. Our reception was held in the Colonnade Room. Working with Bob Mikolitch was an absolute joy. He was so much fun to work with and he took care of every detail! Most of our guests stayed at the Fairmont, and everyone remarked on how nice their stay was. All of the employees were very kind and sincere and helpful. The thing I liked most about my experience was how cared for I felt on my wedding weekend, it almost felt like I was at home. It just made everything that much more special for me!!!!

I could not have dreamed an easier, more perfect, beautiful, and functional place to have my wedding ceremony and reception. We had both our ceremony and reception in the Colonnade Room at the Fairmont. Our hotel event director, Bob Mikolitch, was incredible from beginning to end. For the cost of having the wedding ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception at their hotel, we also got a place for the bridal party to get ready, a pianist for during the cocktail hour, our wedding cake/dessert, all linens and table settings (their standard setting which was gorgeous, elegant and simple), and a bridal suite for our first night as husband and wife. The Fairmont was there for everything and anything that we needed, or that our guests needed. I planned the entire event without assistance from an official wedding planner, but felt I had that assistance at my side with Bob and the rest of the crew at the Fairmont. The evening went off without a hitch and it was simply flawless in all aspects a the hotel. Guests and wedding party alike had a fantastic time and felt special just by being a part of our incredible day, for which I owe much to Bob and the Fairmont Washington, DC! You can't go wrong by having your event here.

After looking at a number of hotels we settled on The Fairmont and after everything was over I know in my heart that I chose the best place for my reception. Robert Mikolithc should be cloned if possible. I have never felt so taken care of in my life. EVERYTHING was superb and I just wish I could do it all over again.

I cannot even begin to say how great the Fairmont is for weddings. Our reception was in the Colonade room, which is stunning. It is a nontraditional elegant ballroom that you can't find anywhere else in the city. The day of our wedding, there was a hurricane practically, Tropical Storm Hannah, and we at first were bummed to not use the gorgeous courtyard for the cocktail hour, but the atrium turned out to be just as stunning. The service is impeccable, the staff was friendly, and the food outstanding. I cannot say enough about how my husband and I, my family, and the wedding party were taken care of and catered to. Most of my guests have commented to me about how great the food and the service was. In the midst of the bad weather, the Fairmont eliminated as much stress as they could, and made the day just perfect. We didn't have to worry about anything. Bob is great to work with and I couldn't have asked for a better coordinator. It is expensive, but worth every single penny.

Selecting the Fairmont for our ceremony and reception was the best decision I could have possibly made. I spent a considerable amount of time and energy interviewing many other comparable hotels in DC and VA, but upon entering the Fairmont lobby and exposure to the friendly staff, bright atrium and lush courtyard the Fairmont immediately set itself apart in its atmosphere and beauty. The Colonnade room took my breath away, and upon meeting Donna Rumbold (catering manager extraordinaire) who was an absolute professional and delight, we knew our experience with the Fairmont would be outstanding. From beginning to end, Donna and her team took care of every imaginable detail. They hand held us through every decision and experience, and always overdelivered. Donna was ever responsive, offered excellent advice and suggestions, and made us feel as though we were the only wedding on her calendar. An important note is how the day was scheduled - Donna's recommendation for the timeline of events made the evening flow so smoothly. The wedding itself was even more beautiful and well-serviced than I could have imagined. Our ceremony was at 5pm so the sun shone beautifully through the windows and onto the stage. The Colonnade room offers a unique and special setting for a ceremony. Our cocktail hour was outside in the courtyard since the weather cooperated, although the back up plan -cocktail hour in the atrium - would have been lovely. My husband and I were treated like royalty with our own attendant throughout the evening. Our guests raved about the food (it was fantastic and my only disappointment is that I did not eat as much as I wanted!), the level of service and the drinks/bar were exceptional. I wanted an elegant and beautiful wedding with 5 star food and service that still managed to feel accessible and not stuffy, and we received more than we could have asked for.

Donna Rumbold and the staff at The Fairmont are awesome! They went above and beyond to make sure we were happy with everything...this not only includes the wedding day but the many months of meetings prior to the big day. Donna is so accessible and very attentive, organized and friendly. The service and food are excellent! I could not speak more highly of the Fairmont. Alice, my contact there, was with me every step of the way. With her help, my wedding day was perfect.

The Fairmont is just beautiful. It is a great location if you want a one stop shop (ceremony and reception in the same place). Though it is a hotel, once inside the Colonnade, you would never know it. It's is the most stunning room, with a beautiful raised hard wood dance floor surrounded by columns and covered by a huge glass ceiling. We had both our ceremony and reception in the Colonnade, with the cocktail hour outside in the courtyard. This gave me the outside element that I was seeking in my wedding day. The food was also fabulous! All in all, it was perfect!

We could not speak more highly of Mark and the team at the Fairmont. From day one, they were willing to go above and beyond to make our day perfect. We wanted a beautiful space that would be large enough to accommodate almost 300 guests, and the Fairmont perfectly. Throughout the entire planning process, Mark was willing to jump in and guide the planning when needed, but also stepped back and let us make the final decisions. All of our guests commented that the food and appetizers were spectacular, and Mark worked hard with us to make sure that the guests were well-fed. Guests also commented that the hotel staff was incredibly welcoming and warm, from the receptionist to the bellhops. We loved working with the Fairmont and could not think of a better place to host your special day.

We held our wedding at the Fairmont Hotel's Colonnade room and it was truly magical. The room is full of natural light, which makes it such a pretty venue - much more so than a hotel ballroom, in our opinion. The hotel's service, food, and cake were also outstanding. The staff was also very accommodating and the honeymoon suite was fantastic.

My new husband and I had the best day of our lives on 11/3. The Fairmont Washington, DC is a magical place and the staff is extremely professional and responsive. I worked with Mark Medrick through the sales process all the way through the end of our event. He ended up being a great friend and made me calm, my husband laugh, and my parents adored him. He knows how to make a wedding everything you want it to be. Take his advice and listen to him because he really knows his stuff. I was never the type of bride to be picky but I was organized and Mark was perfect. The guests loved the Fairmont and thought it was the most beautiful place with a lot of charm. The only complaint was the expense of parking overnight but it's worth it and it's one night. I would completely recommend having your wedding at the Fairmont, especially in the Colonnade Room if your numbers allow. We had about 145 and the room didn't feel packed at all! We had nothing but compliments on the food, it was to die for.

To me, the venue was the most important part of my wedding. As it is, the Fairmont was the first place we looked at and I instantly fell in love. We got married in the Colonnade Room, had our cocktail hour in the garden and moved back to the Colonnade Room for the reception. Both the room and garden are BEAUTIFUL. Also, it's a really warm room...the type of space where you could have a wedding for a 150 or 100 people without it feeling too big or small. Our coordinator Mark Medrick was a delight to work with. He was always there for any questions we had. Beyond Mark, the other event staff at the Fairmont were some of the most professional and service oriented people I have worked with. The attention to detail was impecable in every asepct. The food was amazing. I cant tell you how many of my guests have told me its the best wedding food they've ever eaten. All around a wonderful place to have a wedding...so glad I picked there!

Would do it all over again if we could

We were truly obsessed with the Fairmont. Our experience here (particularly because of Kiera in events) was first class from the moment we toured the Fairmont through the end of our wedding night. The team was excellent to work with from Kiera to the waitstaff to the bartenders to the chef. Kiera was extremely responsive throughout the process with our questions and truly delivered the wedding of our dreams. I only wish we had more time at the Fairmont because it was top notch. Our guests raved as well about their experience in the hotel and at the event. I wish I could go back in time and do it all over again!

    Colonnade Is Exceptional Venue!

The Colonnade at the Fairmont Georgetown is by far the best DC venue for 140-190 people. The floor-to-ceiling windows and round elevated stage made for a beautiful ceremony setting. The outdoor courtyard or the Loggia are wonderful settings for the cocktail hour. Then the Colonnade becomes the room for the dinner and dancing. It was just a warm, beautiful, romantic setting.
The Fairmont catering staff worked very hard all through contracting, selections, and the wedding day to make our event as perfect as possible. They accommodated reasonable requests, had several meal and hors-d'oevre selections, and great premium bar choices. The dinner was good and service was excellent (hard to completely control food preparation quality with a large banquet). Cake and dessert were served effortlessly. Isabel and team did an amazing job!

This venue is unbelievably great for a 9-piece live band. The round stage becomes a dance floor that is packed all night. Truly a magical venue.

All our guests were happy with their rooms. The bridal and groom suites were out-of-this-world and definitely lived up to expectations.

    I highly recommend!!

    NYE Dream Wedding

My New Years Eve wedding at the Fairmont was a dream come true, and this was mainly due to the leading lady, Carrow Rasberry. From beginning of the booking to the checkout on Sunday, Carrow was so efficient and responsive throughout the process. The food was AMAZING. We had 250 guests for a plated meal and people are still talking about how delicious everything was. The bartenders and servers were top notch, and everything ran so smoothly. While there were a few smaller things that were annoying (the top luxury open bar option only yet you pick one white wine and one red wine), it ended up not taking away from the night overall in the slightest. Highly recommend!

The venue is beautiful in a non generic hotel ballroom way. But it was the team - Carrow Rasberry in particular - that made the whole even easy, fun and wonderful. Many people commented that the food was the best they had ever had at a wedding.

There are not enough words to describe how beautiful and perfect the Fairmont Hotel was for our wedding! Finding a hotel in the Northern VA/DC area that didn't look like a typical "hotel conference room" was a struggle. I wanted the room to at least have a few windows, and carpet that didn't look like Aladdin's magic carpet. We were referred to check out the Fairmont from a friend, and as soon as I heard the name I looked it up on Wedding Wire. I was surprised that there were no photos of this hotel. We worked directly with Bob, who was an absolute saving grace through the whole process. He showed us the Colonnade Room, which as windows from floor to ceiling, and is a gazebo shaped room. Everything about planning the wedding at the Fairmont was extremely easy, and I never felt like a burden. I would receive responses to emails mostly within hours, and they were always polite, and addressed my 100+ questions. Whenever we were at the Fairmont, we were treated like royalty. I am a very extremely detail-oriented person, and Bob did a fabulous job making my visions of our wedding come to life. You can tell he is very dedicated to his work, and always works to please the bride. Because of Bob, I did not have to hire a Wedding Planner at all! The room is so beautiful it didn't need a lot of decorations, and our photographer and filmographer loved having all the natural light! The food was out of this world, and all our guests raved how it was the best food they've had at a wedding. [[The only recommendation I would give to future brides is that they say the Colonnade Room holds 200 people; however, with 130 guests, 2 photographers, and 3 fimographers we were tight during the ceremony. The filmographers had a difficult time capturing our ceremony at a variety of angles, and the Fairmont did not help them strategies alternate solutions.]] All in all I absolutely recommend the Fairmont Hotel to any bride seeking a hotel wedding and phenomenal service.

The Fairmont Washington, D.C. and its staff (especially Bob in Catering) were incredibly helpful and professional throughout our wedding planning process. We booked the hotel with only about two and a half months to go until our wedding and were able to score the light-filled Colonnade room for a lunchtime reception. Bob catered to almost every need or request of ours and, given that we did not use a wedding coordinator, he served in that role unofficially and professionally. He offered us great suggestions for seasonal cocktails and food, recommended our DJ--who was great, coordinated the perfect wedding cake that matched our color sample, offered us the complimentary in-house lighting in the space--which happened to be our central wedding color, and generally made everything seamless for us. As we held a lunchtime reception, we were able to continue the party afterward in the hotel lobby, enjoying the bar and pianist, surrounded by holiday decorations. All of the staff, including the waiters and bell hops, were courteous and pleasant. The only complaints whatsoever: (1) because the cake was "fake" (foam covered in real icing with a small section of real cake for us to cut while the rest of the real cake was pre-cut to expedite serving), the pre-cut pieces served to guests were a little dry; (2) the hotel only offered silver chargers--we wished they had had gold, as well, as that was one of our accent colors used for table numbers, etc.--but the mix of metallics was fine in the end; (3) entirely unrelated to the wedding services, we ordered room service later that night to our (very lovely) complimentary suite and it took over an hour and a half and several follow-up calls to receive our pizza and onion soup. Three things that really did not "break" the experience, just minor annoyances. Overall, the function space, guest rooms, and service were very nearly impeccable. It is a refined hotel yet conducive to relaxing and gathering with guests before, during, and after a wedding. And we thought the price for our lunchtime winter reception was very reasonable (approx. $200/person, including the room, top shelf open bar, hors d'heuvres, meal (lobster bisque and filet mignon), customized cake, coat check, subtle uplighting, tasting for four, bridal suite (with champagne and strawberries waiting for us), valet parking, tax, and gratuity).

We could not have asked for a more perfect, classy venue than The Fairmont. We held our cocktail hour in the courtyard, and our reception in the Colonnade room, and it was picture-perfect! Mark Medrick was absolutely incredible to work with- very responsive, knowledgeable, professional, yet personally interested in us and our vision for our wedding. He recommended and helped us arrange transportation and lighting, and has recommendations for any other vendor you could need. The whole staff of The Fairmont was amazing- we dropped off so many things the day before the wedding; menu cards, entree cards, table numbers, centerpieces, out-of-town guest bags, favors, guest book, etc and they literally took them from our hands and set them up, we didn't have to lift a finger. They even wrapped/boxed up the centerpieces and table numbers at the end of the night, got my parents' car out of valet, and loaded it up so that none of us had to do a thing that night or the next morning. 80% of our guests were from out of town, and The Fairmont's location can't be beat for proximity to sightseeing, restaurants, airports, etc. Yes, it is pricey, but you are paying for truly impeccable service, a venue whose beauty and class is second-to-none, and what will undoubtedly be the wedding of your dreams.

We picked the Fairmont Washington DC because it is a beautiful glass room in the round and has an adjoining courtyard. It felt more open and dazzling than a traditional ballroom. The room was stunning.

I would recommend the Fairmont to anyone. Bob is great to work with, the food quality is excellent, and the staff couldn't be more helpful. We had several unique requests which were fulfilled without question. The Colonnade Room is perfect!

The Fairmont really does know weddings. They are extremely responsive and you rarely go 30 minutes without a response to your email. They try to be accomodating, though I felt like they did sometimes brush off my requests too easily. The day of the wedding they seemed to have everything we needed. They brought a nicely laid out brunch, a high table and chairs for makeup, and they even filled our truly random request for sandpaper (to scuff up the bottoms of our shoes). Impressive.

They were great with providing custom requests for the catering. My dad really wanted a certain dessert and so they made him (and only him) it for the wedding. That brought a big smile to his face. :-)

We did get upset when they moved our cocktail hour to only in the garden without consulting us (instead of part of it being in the Loggia). Though this may have been a bad call by our coordinator.

Overall, the food is excellent, the service is high quality, and the venue is gorgeous. I did feel special during my stay there. Even checking out they made us feel like rockstars.

I recently got married at the fairmont in washington. I had my ceremony and reception at this hotel. Bob Mikovitch was by far the most helpful person I have come across out of all of the vendors. He truly cared about all of the details, and no question was left unanswered. He was extremely professional and really made my event better because of all the planning. The food was delicious and the staff worked extremely hard. It was on the more expensive side, and there were some hidden costs ( sound for ceremony, party, etc), but otherwise I have nothing negative to say! Please consider the Fairmont!

We had a reception at the Fairmont in the Colonnade Room for 135 people. I cannot say enough good things about working with Bob Mikolitch, the onsite director at the Fairmont. He is very responsive (which could be difficult since we were planning our wedding from San Francisco), even if I would email him multiple times during the day. He was so professional and really made sure our day ran perfectly. Our day went off without a single hitch. The only negative about the Fairmont was the way the hotel itself handled our (the bride and groom's) room was handled. When my fiance and I arrived to check in, early in the morning, they told us our room was not ready. A few hours later they called us to tell us it was. By the time we got back to the hotel less than an hour later, they had given the room away! Additionally, on the day of the wedding, when we were supposed to have the bridal suite, when we got up to the suite after our ceremony, but before the reception, our luggage was nowhere to be found. These glitches seem to be with the hotel itself. As for the reception and wedding in general, the Fairmont and Bob were absolutely fantastic.

Having our wedding at The Fairmont was one of the best decisions we made! Although The Fairmont is on the expensive side, we definitely got our money's worth. The staff was easy to work with throughout the process and really know what they're doing. Anything I asked them to do was taken care of instantly and there was no detail too small. Even when I felt like an annoying pest for asking a million questions or checking and double checking that things were done, it was always "service with a smile" and they really knocked it out of the park! The food was amazing and the room looked beautiful. The staff made sure that all of our family and friends were taken care of and, as the bride and groom, we were treated like royalty! The grounds are beautifully cared for and our pictures in the Colonnade courtyard will no doubt be beautiful. If it is within your budget, I would definitely recommend The Fairmont -- you won't be disappointed!

The Fairmont is probably the only downtown DC hotel that offers an above-ground ballroom that gets natural light has a view of the outdoors into their courtyard garden. It is an exceptional alternative to a subterranean ballroom that is available at most other DC hotels. We picked it because it offered the convenience of a hotel wedding, but gave some of the feeling of being outdoors. I was very happy with the choice when my wedding day turned out a bit overcast and chilly.

I had my entire wedding in the Colonnade room, with the cocktail reception in the courtyard and a portion of the lobby. On the morning after my wedding, we invited all our out of town guests and in-town family to join us for brunch at Juniper (the hotel restaurant) and they were happy to accomodate the large number of our guest that came through over the course of a few hours. (we picked up the tab for all our guests, but this option was a lot less expensive than setting up our own private buffet in a private room). The night before our wedding we had our rehearsal dinner (to which all out of town guests were invited) in a nearby restaurant, that was an easy walk from the hotel. Because everything was close by, none of our guests had to rent cars and they all got to enjoy the vibrant city.

The food served at the Fairmont was outstanding and many of my friends raved about it afterward. The staff was very accomodating, there was more than enough waiters for the number of guests we had and they even assigned an individual waiter to me and my husband, who took care of all our needs for the entire night. There were also some extra special touches: for instance, when we arrived back to our suite at the end of the night, our bed was covered with rose petals.

During our wedding planning, they were very accomodating. My vegetarian/vegan mother worked with the chef to choose a veggie entree that would suit her needs but not draw too much attention to her plate. My dad decided at the last minute that he wanted special table cloths and they accomodated us a day before the wedding. All the staff performed everything with a smile and were entirely professional and knowledgable about the process.

As was mentioned by others, the Fairmont is one of the more expensive hotels in DC. But, the prices weren't much different than many ohter hotels in DC (we looked at the Grand Hyatt, Omni Shoreham, Rennaisance and even some hotels out in VA and MD) and yet uniqueness of the Colonnade room is something that no other hotel in DC was able to match.

It is post wedding now and the feedback I have received from my friends and family about the venue is so positive! They felt they were treated like royalty. The hospitality and service was amazing. The food, of course, was fantastic, and the pastry chef did a phenomenal job on the cake. I received great feedback about the soup and sandwich station as well.
The colonnade made a huge impression on everyone. I hear the Fairmont is replacing the carpet soon, which is a good idea. It needs that. The courtyard of course was beautiful.
My suggestion would be a few things. One, ensure your guests know the cost of parking. First, the parking is overpriced and make sure you let your guests know ahead of time. Second, ask your coordinator/catering manager ahead of time what their involvement and contributions are throughout the process. They do a lot and can save you a lot of time and worry. Third, work with Mark Medrick.

Mark was great at fawning all over my mother, but I really thought that if he was going to take issue with what I decided upon for my ceremony decor, he should have given me guidelines ahead of time rather than on the day of the wedding. The brunch could have also gone a bit more smoothly. But otherwise, it's a lovely site.
