My husband and I had the absolute pleasure of being married at the College of Physicians this past weekend. I can say with 100% certainty that this was the best decision we could've made. From the stunning historic architecture to the detail-oriented and professional staff, everything about CPP exuded warmth, intimacy, and love. We felt like everyone at the venue truly cared for us and our guest's experience. Our guests are still raving about the meal - some swore it was one of the best meals they've EVER had, wedding or not. I am inclined to agree because the short rib was DIVINE. Of course, we have to mention Michael who took care of us with exceptional service from the very start. We felt we could put our trust and confidence in Michael and his team to deliver on our original dream: to have a memorable wedding. They gave us this AND MORE - It was a party for the ages. Having the staff of CPP and Catering By Design behind us allowed us to not only fully savor our wedding night, but the weeks leading up to it I was cool as a cucumber knowing it was all in good hands. We'd also like to thank Joel for being our designated waitstaff (caretaker? cabysitter?) - he was so attentive, caring, and SMOOTH! I was on a dancing roll and he snuck up to give me a glass of water so I'd stay hydrated 😂 simply incredible. We especially enjoyed the moments later in the night when everyone including staff was dancing with us - our hearts are so full. Thank you thank you thank you to this incredible team and if we had to do it all over again, we'd still pick CPP. Ugh, can we just do it all again this weekend please?!?! 😭 Take me back!!!

We could not be more thrilled that we chose the College of Physicians as our wedding venue. One of the things we were looking for in a venue was something that would be unique and memorable for our guests...not just a cookie cutter event space. We chose the College of Physicians because it fit the bill perfectly and could not be happier with our choice. From our first tour to the day of our wedding, Michael and his staff went above and beyond to make everything run smoothly and treated us with so much kindness. They are true professionals and we were at ease knowing they had every detail taken care of during our event. The food was also incredible and we are still getting compliments on it from our guests.

Honestly, Michael and his team are the best in the business. They are incredible because they really CARE and they want you to have the best day possible. Michael and his team made it possible, even down to the last minute when I had changes. They were so KIND and HELPFUL, and they really want you to have the best day ever. It felt like family. I cannot recommend them enough! It was a perfect day because the team are so coordinated and had everything perfectly ready. I was so happy with my experience and even after the wedding day, Michael and his team were so lovely. If you want the best wedding experience in Philadelphia, I'd highly recommend The College of Physicians.

Theirs is not one bad thing I could say about our wedding at the College of Physicians. The help with planning and coordinating from day the tour to booking was always prompt, clear, and helpful. They helped keep stress down and enthusiasm high as we navigated each minute detail. We were planning from 5 states away and were nothing but accommodating with video calls, countless emails, and questions! The day and night off everything went off lawlessness even with 100 degree heat and an outdoor ceremony. They never pressured is to make a certain choice or go in certain direction, they made it sure was all the day we had dreamed up. Michael in particular I can not rave enough about. He’s fun, positive, and a master at his craft. He clearly loves and cares deeply about his job and how he handles his staff. Nothing but amazing amazing things working with him and through the beautiful night.

I knew this venue was special but I didn't expect how flawless and beautiful everything would turn out to be. Everyone raved about the food (from the burrata salad all the way to the desserts), the tables looked gorgeous, and the staff were so accommodating. Most of all, we appreciate the manager's professionalism, creativity, and sense of humor.

Fun note, two of our guests were married there 35 years ago. They were completely wowed by CBD. Most important,
I know that the bride and groom were thrilled -- and they had a blast. Many thanks to CBD for making this a memorable evening for our family.

Getting married here was genuinely one of the best decisions my husband and I made in planning our wedding. We're usually not ones to review a space, but this was just so fantastic we felt like we had to. Michael was nothing short of excellent in helping us plan: always available for questions, super helpful in making our vision happen, and exceptionally accommodating for all of our wants and needs. Everything went perfectly and easily on the day of. We had to move inside for the weather, which we were a little disappointed about, but the indoor reception space was beautiful regardless. The cocktail hour drinks and appetizers were insanely delicious, both for us and our guests, who told us many times how great everything was. (Absolutely get the pork belly skewers and Nashville hot chicken) The reception space was perfect with a huge dance floor and gorgeous layout, and dinner was incredible as well. Overall, incredible experience that we could not imagine having gone better!!!!

The College of Physicians and Catering by Design, including Garnish, exceeded our expectations in every way! The food was fantastic, and my new husband and I truly could relax and enjoy our wedding and reception as the entire staff worked on our behalf to make things seamless and beautiful. I would recommend this venue and the staff to anyone wishing to host an event, especially a wedding!

We had an amazing overall experience planning our wedding at the Mutter! Michael Mitloff was really the cherry on top of our experience - it is very clear that he is exceptional at his job, and also genuinely cares about making your event feel unique and catered to your specific needs and interests. We had a non-traditional wedding, and he was incredibly supportive and excited for us to experience the final product, which really took so much stress off of our plates! We took a more hands-off approach to our planning in general, and let the professionals do what they do best - and they did not disappoint at all! From the ambiance of the beautiful historic building and gardens (and the insanely creepy cool museum), to the flowers, and the amazing food (definitely not your standard catered food - really exceptional flavors and presentation) - we got so many sincere compliments from our guests on the entire event experience. We are so thankful that we stumbled upon this amazing venue, and the entire CBD team (we even got compliments on how friendly and knowledgeable the staff was day-of) - they really helped us create a day that not only will we never forget, but it absolutely left a wow-factor imprint on all of our guests. A huge thank you to Michael and his amazing team for helping us craft an incredibly special and memorable day for us and our guests!

We had a great experience at the College of Physicians. The history, the amazing decor, the medicinal herb garden, the Mutter Museum, the convenient location and the talented, experienced staff all combined to make it a flawless wedding. Their dedicated caterer, Catering by Design gave us a fantastic dinner experience. Many of our guests commented on how delicious and perfectly prepared the food was. The venue rental price was spot on, especially compared to other venues in the city. We had 140 guests and table seating was comfortable and accessible. Being able to have the actual ceremony in the garden was magical. Highly recommended.

The College of Physicians and CBD Catering helped to make our wedding truly magical. The venue is absolutely stunning--you could hear our guests audibly gasp when they entered the hall and the reception rooms. The staff at the event were incredible, so sweet, warm, and accommodating. Working with the CBD team was a breeze and they accommodated us in anything and everything we wanted. We got so many compliments on how good the food and wine was; we couldn't have asked to work with a better team. My husband and I are so grateful we were able to have our special day at The College of Physicians.

If you've read the other reviews of the College of Physicians you already know that it's a beautiful event space with 5 star food and service. But what impressed us the most was how they came through for us when Hurricane Ophelia swept up the east coast and soaked Philly with rain and wind all day on our wedding day. Michael Mitloff and his team were absolutely great at calming our frayed nerves as we watched the forecast with increasing dread in the days leading up to the event. We had to move the cocktail reception indoors from the herb garden to Thomson Hall, but you would never have known that it wasn't always planned that way. Also our guests all showed up for cocktail hour early because they made a mad dash from the church to the reception to get out of the rain. But no worries, Michael had arranged for our guests to browse the fascinating Mutter Museum in the interval.

Michael also worked seamlessly with our planner, photographer and other vendors to troubleshoot every little hiccup that popped up (none of which were their doing). We were all able to relax and enjoy the event knowing that Michael and his team were looking out for our every need. From the planning phase through to the event itself, they were wonderful to work with.

I got married mid September and my husband and I are still gushing over the whole experience. It’s hard to focus on what area we loved most as it was truly a perfect day.

Venue: The venue is absolutely beautiful! It is a historical building with ornate architecture. It allowed us to save tons of money on decor as the venue already had a lot of charm to it.

We only had a total of 65 people (the venue can fit a lot more than that), but the space didn’t feel overwhelming at all. It was spacious and intimate all at the same time. Our ceremony took place at their outdoor garden - which is gorgeous! Cocktail was right inside, next to the garden, and the reception was upstairs. The team laid everything out so beautifully!

Food: The Catering by Design team is very talented. They had it all, from phenomenal staff to incredible food. Saying the food was delicious is an understatement! The food blew our guests expectations out of the water. Everyone couldn’t get enough of the hors d'oeuvres, main course and desserts. Our friends and family came from all over the world and everyone’s palette is very diverse (aka picky). With this being said, we had a lot of different types of hors d'oeuvres to cater to them. Each appetizer was perfectly executed. I remember doing my happy shoulder dance on each bite I took. When we were saying hello to our friends and family the first thing to come out of their mouth was how impressed they were with the food. Along with the amazing food, the service was impeccable. The staff members were very attentive and worked very diligently. The team also has great bartenders and our signature drinks were also the talk of the night.

Lastly, I couldn’t write this review without mentioning Michael Mitloff. Michael is the venue sales director and the day of coordinator. He was such a pleasure to work with. He’s very knowledgeable and responsive. He was amazing and a big reason why I wasn’t so stressed. His experience and excellent service really reflects on how perfect the day went. We weren’t aware of any hiccups on our day. I’m sure there were some, but Michael made sure we didn’t have to deal with it. I am so grateful we had Michael for this whole process.

If you made it this far in the review I’ll leave it with it’s definitely well-worth the investment. The whole experience was joyful and beautiful. I couldn’t be happier with the choice I made.

I got married at The College of Physicians in September 2023 and it was perfect! The venue, including the gardens, is beautiful and our guests loved getting to walk through the museum during cocktail hour. Michael was responsive throughout the planning process and was flexible in accommodating our requests. The food by Catering By Design was fantastic from cocktail hour to dinner and dessert. All of the staff during our event was professional. We had 60 guests and I was worried the room (Mitchell Hall) would feel empty, but it did not feel empty at all, and I think the room could have also easily held twice as many people.

We hosted our wedding at the College of Physicians this past April and truly couldn't have asked for a better experience. The space is beautiful and is the perfect place if you're looking for somewhere to give you indoor/outdoor flexibility. We were also immensely thankful for the help of the Catering by Design Venue Director, Michael. He helped us coordinate details beforehand, running through everything for our menu to linen colors, vendor communication, space layout, and beyond. My partner and I were very busy with work and having Michael's help meant we could still plan our perfect event without stressing over every last detail. The food was delicious and worth every penny. The staff were beyond accommodating. I can't say enough positive things!

This team was amazing. They worked with such joy, helpfulness, and excellence. They spent a ton of time with my husband and I to ensure they understood the vision for the day and executed it perfectly. We loved every person we worked with.

Catering by Design was terrific. The food and service that was provided was not only delicious, but the staff was professional and easy to work with. Our wedding at the College of Physicians was simply beautiful and the staff made the evening very special for all of us.

My Fiancé and I were looking for an urban wedding setting but which was both unique in its character and also large enough to hold 150 guests. The College of Physicians and their catering company, Catering by Design, delivered this and MORE than we had even hoped for. They were extremely professional and knowledgeable, had great suggestions for us when we felt "stuck" on some decisions, and were very flexible throughout the whole process. Perhaps most importantly, I never felt unsure or uneasy about any aspect of the wedding because they had an answer for every question and had clearly 'worked out the kinks' when hosting events in this space. The food and service were top-notch and offered a wide-variety of appetizers, cocktails, and entrees from an eclectic group of cuisines. Of course, the fact that guests could explore the world-famous Mutter Museum during cocktail hour was an extra treat!

Overall, I would highly recommend any couple consider this venue and caterer if they were looking to host a wedding in Philadelphia, especially if looking to host in Center City.

We had the absolute best day of our lives at the College of Physicians for our wedding day. We had a specific vision and Michael Mitloff helped us achieve it! I was truly blown away when I saw how everything came together on the day. The food was absolutely delicious and my husband and I were able to try everything. Multiple guests remarked on how unique the day way and how delicious everything tasted.

Accommodating and receptive to all of our requests and details. Staff was professional and courteous. Transparent with costs and expectations.

Our wedding was amazing - family would not stop raving about the beauty of the venue, how well organized it was, and how tasty the food was, even days later. In the months leading up to the date, Michael was helpful and supportive every step of the way of what could have been an otherwise terribly stressful experience without his expertise. On the day itself, he took over from my planner and his expert coordination of all my vendors helped everything run smoothly. I especially appreciate that he always checked in with us to see how we were doing and took care of all our concerns, and our dedicated waiter made sure we actually got to eat our own food. Thank you again for a great experience!

Michael and his staff at The College of Physicians were wonderful to work with for our daughter’s wedding. Our guests thoroughly enjoyed the evening and made these observations: “it was the best wedding food I ever had”, the staff was so professional and attentive”, “I gasped when I walked into the gorgeous ballroom”. Michael was committed to assuring the wedding was all that we hoped for, from the lovely courtyard ceremony, to the creative appetizers and finishing the night in the welcoming, elegant ballroom for great dinner and non stop dancing. Thank you Michael and staff for a night full of memories we will always treasure!

Michael was incredible! He made our day run incredibly smooth and put us at ease so we could enjoy our wedding day to the fullest! Could not recommend the College of Physicians more!! Most special wedding venue of all time.
