It’s always hard doing an online review that I know will not even come close to encompassing how amazing, dedicated, talented, and perfect Stephanie was for our engagements, wedding day and beyond! She is so personable and assertive, keeping an eye on the clock at all times to get every single shot that I wanted, while making every moment fun. My bridesmaids were constantly telling me how great she was doing throughout the day and how they wanted her as their wedding photographer. My husband and I are still astonished at how good she is with directing poses for formals and with lighting. Our wedding photos are so insanely gorgeous and thanks to SAP we get to relive our best day ever with all these perfectly executed snap shots 🤍 we are especially thankful for all the fun reception dancing photos— seeing the joy on everyone’s face is something you can’t put a price on. We absolutely loved working with Stephanie! From the very beginning, she was so easy to communicate with; responsive, organized, and genuinely invested in understanding us as a couple. On our wedding day, everything felt completely seamless. She brought such a calm sense of ease that allowed us to truly be present with each other. It never felt like a production or a photoshoot; it felt like us. Because of that, we had the space to express our love naturally without ever feeling watched or rushed.
When we received our preview photos (incredibly fast — just three days later, and such an extensive gallery!), we were blown away. Every image instantly took us back to those moments, which speaks volumes about her talent and the power of her work. Beyond her artistry, she’s fun, enthusiastic, and so kind — the perfect energy to have around on such an important day. She made it unforgettable, and we’re endlessly grateful to have these photos to relive it all. I highly recommend booking The Axtells. Stephanie is amazing at what she does. We had her for our engagement shoot and wedding day. We were nervous going into our engagement shoot as we never had a professional photoshoot before. However, Stephanie immediately made us feel comfortable and it ended up being so much fun. She was great at directing us. Our wedding day went awesome. Stephanie was very on top of things and we were actually ahead of schedule which made the wedding day even more enjoyable. We were beyond happy with how are photos turned out! Can't say enough good things about our photo experience. -

Working with Stephanie was so much fun and we love our pictures! We set up a package for our engagement shoot and wedding which she helped us put together according to our budget and wedding dreams. After the engagement shoot we knew we made the right decision! We are definitely not accustomed to photoshoots but she has a way of making it so easy, comfortable, and fun! She is ORGANIZED AND CREATIVE! Our pictures perfectly capture the vintage/old money vibes we were going for while still remaining true to the bridal/wedding photo needs. Even with the hustle and bustle on the wedding day she got every photo we needed including the ones with family and she did it with efficiency so we could enjoy as much of our cocktail hour and reception as possible! I came across Stephanie Axtell from another previous wedding video and in the short video, I knew I needed to have them for my wedding! The level of service that Stephanie and Charles provide is absolutely unmatched! We had our first call with Stephanie and immediately knew we would be in good hands! She and Charles went above and beyond for every part of the process. From our engagement session, the preparation, day of, our preview and full gallery came SO quickly - we couldn’t have asked for anyone better to work with. On top of it all It truly felt like we had two friends capturing our day - they made it so fun and were the best hype squad. I cannot say enough wonderful things about the Axtell’s! Stephanie and her team took our engagement photos as well as our wedding photos and videos. They are extremely pleasant to work with and the outcome is simply GORGEOUS!
On our wedding day, Stephanie went above and beyond to make sure we got every dream picture we wanted. Not to mention they drove hours to come spend the day with us. My husband and I are a bit camera shy, but Stephanie helped us feel very comfortable and we look so natural in our photos. I’d hire them over and over again! -

My fiance orginally was being stingy about the cost of a photographer so we intitally choose the cheapest one we agreed upon. Do not do what we did. Once we paid the 50% deposit they became unresponsive for more than 3 weeks (um hello its 2021, put up an out of office repsonse! ) and that made us so nervous we dropped them and had to start all over again. In comes Stephanie ! Not only was she and her husband incrediably tallented and a JOY to work with, they were excellent communicators, responded to every email/text/smoke-signal promptly and delievered our beautiful photos faster than ever expected. You get what you pay for with photographers and they captured every moment of our wedding. 11/10 recommend. -

Stephanie and Charles are an absolute dream to work with. Not only is their work absolutely beautiful, but they always make you feel so comfortable. My husband in particular doesn’t love being in front of cameras, but Stephanie has a great way of making things fun and enjoyable! We have been working with Stephanie and Charles for well over three years at this point, and I can’t imagine having worked with anyone else. Our first encounter with Stephanie was over a Zoom call after we reached out to her with an availability inquiry – and even through a screen, we were instantly hooked with her genuine personality and inspiring professionalism. We knew we didn’t have to look any further! She was the first wedding photographer we spoke to, and we were sold. At our very first photo session with her, she made it feel like we were meeting up with an old friend who just happened to be taking some photos along the way. My husband, who was notorious for hating having his photo taken, was a changed man after our first session with her, because she made it so easy and fun! She knew just the right prompts to have us giggling and laughing and our photos captured some of the most genuine moments that we have on film. Due to COVID, we had to postpone our wedding several times and the Axtells stuck with us every step of the way, giving us the confidence we needed at the time. In the meantime, we booked boudoir, maternity, and newborn photo sessions with them (because, well, life happened while we were waiting to celebrate our wedding!)… and Stephanie knocked every single session out of the park. She is so adaptable and works in any type of condition with ease, no matter what the subject matter is. Fast forward to wedding day, and Stephanie and Charles were the pillars of calm throughout the day. They outlined the day for us perfectly, and kept us on time without being pushy or rude. Coming from a bride with a little bit of a control freak in her, it felt so nice to not have to worry about this aspect of the day. Instead, I was able to let go and enjoy the limited time we had with our family and friends - THIS IS SO IMPORTANT because they aren’t lying when they say the day flies by. When we received the photos of our day, our jaws dropped. We spent hours doing through the photos, because Stephanie and Charles not only took amazingly beautiful photos, but they also captured so many details of our day that we had worked so hard on. They had documented our day perfectly, and we were so, so happy. When you get your wedding photos back, you hope that you get a handful of photos that you can frame to remember the day. If you hire the Axtells, you will not only have a handful, you will have ALBUMS of amazing photos. The most difficult part has been choosing which photos to put on display in our home, because we don’t have enough walls for all of them! In addition to photography - we also had a number of family members that were unable to attend our wedding due to the virus, so Stephanie and Charles offered to set up a live stream of our ceremony, even though we had not booked any type of video services – it was a little touch that really meant a lot to us as a COVID couple. But this perfectly describes this power duo – they are thoughtful and kind, compassionate about their business, they are REAL people, and they always take the extra step to make their couples happy. They are constantly striving to improve their business and it shows! Watching them grow over the past couple of years has been so inspiring, and we are now customers for life. If you have any hesitation in hiring them – don’t! You will not regret it, I promise. From one bride to another, hiring the Axtells as your photographers is, hands down, the best decision you will make in your wedding planning process! -

We hired Stephanie and her husband Charles to do our wedding photography and videography. I AM SO GLAD WE DID! Absolutely beautiful work. Stephanie shot our engagement session, my bridal portraits, and our entire wedding day. Getting to know her and getting to see her work was one of the highlights of my wedding planning process. She is so very talented, accommodating, professional, fun, and most of all: can make you feel comfortable in front of the camera. Beyond My Expectations!!
I used Stephanie, her husband Charles, and another photographer from their team for my photo and video of my wedding on October 30, 2021. All 3 of them were amazing to work with!! My husband and I are so awkward with photos and they made us seem like pros. We did our engagement session with Stephanie as well and it was so nice to get to know her and work with her before our big day. They were so organized that we ran ahead of schedule all day and were able to have some extra time in places and some extra time for me and my husband to slow down and enjoy the day. To top it off, we had a preview back to us in a week with so many amazing pictures already! I can't wait to get the rest of my photos and video in the weeks to come. I highly recommend going with the Axtell's for all of your wedding day needs! -

Amazing couple to work with!
Stephanie and Charles are INCREDIBLE! They are fun, detail orientated, and super organized. Stephanie drove from out of state just to take my bridal portraits then they both, plus two more, came up for the wedding. They worked fast, yet took every photo I wanted plus many more! Just FOUR DAYS after the wedding I received well over 60 edited photos as a sneak peak. Within a week of the bridal shoot I received over 130! They were all edited perfectly! These two are worth every penny! If you are even thinking of booking them, DO IT! They made everything so stress free. We even had a detailed schedule for the wedding day that I was able to organize other vendors with, too. Just phenomenal. -

Stephanie and Charles are absolutely incredible to work with and so amazing at what they do! I have been sitting here trying to put into words how much of a positive impact they made on our wedding day and no words seem good enough.
We first heard of Stephanie through my brother and his now wife after they booked with her a year prior. When I got engaged, she was the first photographer I talked to and after looking at a couple of other photographers it was clear to me that I had already found the best. They also offer several types of packages to accommodate different budgets and needs! We got to do our engagement photo session with her and as soon as she walked up and introduced herself, it felt like we were already friends because she just made us feel so comfortable. She is fun and funny, and made the engagement session a day we will always cherish.
Our original wedding date was in 2020, but we had to postpone our celebration until September 2021 due to COVID-19 and Stephanie made that process so much easier because of how flexible and accommodating she was. I truly can't think her enough for that. When we finally got to have our wedding celebration this September, Stephanie and Charles did so much to make it the best day ever for us! We had a large bridal party, but they made it so easy and seamless to get all of our group shots and family photos. They also made our couples photos on the wedding day an incredible experience that was so fun and intimate. Some of our favorite moments of the day were actually taking photos with them!
Stephanie and Charles are an amazing team and it was the best decision ever to book with them for both photography and videography. They work together so well and everything turned out flawless! We got our photos back this week and I just can't get over how happy I am that we got to work with them. I would recommend Stephanie and Charles to absolutely anyone - Thank you both for everything! -

The best wedding photographers out there!
Stephanie and Charles are truly amazing. We originally planned our wedding in North Carolina where they are based, however, COVID happened and we had to reschedule the wedding in our home state of Ohio. Without question, they worked with us to travel to Ohio to capture our wedding. And can I just say - they did an absolutely amazing job! Not only were our photos impeccable (and I've only received the preview) but working with them was a dream. They are so friendly and relaxed but at the same time, efficient and are determined to capture the perfect photos for your day. I cannot say enough good things about them. When you plan a wedding, you’re drowned in images of beauty and perfection, and in the back of your mind you hope that you wind up with at least one or two images of yourself on your wedding day like that. We hired Stephanie to shoot our engagement session and wedding/reception and couldn't be happier with her work! Words can't describe how amazing Stephanie and Charles are. They are truly masters at their craft and their work is a testament of that. Wow! Where to even start… Steph’s photos are AMAZING and she is truly an extraordinary photographer. This was the most stressful part of wedding planning for me, as I am so picky and my (now) husband and I are not very photogenic, so finding someone who could make us look great and take great photos that would be “forever photos” was hard, but Steph did not disappoint one bit! She did both our engagement and wedding photos and they were so stunning. I got SO MANY compliments on them and tons of questions about how they can book her. She made taking pictures so fun and was able to easily figure out what we liked and didn’t like in order to get all the shots we wanted. Spending my entire wedding day with her and Charles was SO much fun and I am so thankful that I chose her to surround myself with on that day. So many different vendors are involved in a wedding. Of all the various vendors I worked with for our wedding, Stephanie and Charles were, by far, the very best and my favorites to work with. I researched quite a few photographers/videographers and, without a doubt, the Axtells had the absolute highest quality of work for the most affordable price. You will not find a more affordable, more talented duo than the Axtells. Both of them were so flexible, professional, timely, made us feel so comfortable in front of the camera, and took the time to learn about us and our personalities to ensure that they were able to capture US. They did just that and more!
With COVID-19 throwing quite a few wrenches in to our wedding plans, they were so accommodating and helpful in ensuring we were taken care of with phenomenal photos and videos. After engagement photos, getting to know them at other weddings of some of our friends, and spending our wedding day with them, I view the Axtells as friends at this point. They are incredible people you can trust to capture all of the joys, emotions, and celebrations that are so special throughout wedding season.
I've referred the Axtells to at least 5 other couples at this point and I would refer them to anyone else! They will go above and beyond for any client and I HIGHLY recommend them! -

Look no further than Stephanie Axtell
Let me cut to the chase: you’re not going to find a better, more engaged, affordable, and practiced wedding photographer than Stephanie. My wife and I had a Skype meeting after a few weeks of searching (we had actually just been stood up by another wedding photographer we were supposed to talk with), and Stephanie approached it all with an attitude of service and wanting to achieve our dreams for the wedding.
To be honest, what hooked me was her backstory—she had been burned by the photographer she used for her own wedding, and that made her want to do better for other couples. Every step of the way she was super helpful- most of all in fitting a coverage package to our budget. We ended up with 6 hours of coverage, a single shooter, and a deal for 400-500 photos. For our price range, other photographers couldn’t get us anything near that much (or that quality). Go checkout her website- the work speaks for itself.
On the day of the wedding, Stephanie had us all organized, and she moved as efficiently as possible during the various sessions. She was a legitimate godsend in wrangling the extended family for photos after the ceremony. Our pictures with the bridal party outside turned out fantastic— she turned the overcast downtown area into a floral dreamscape of color and light.
Within a day or two after the wedding, we had a preview pack of 60 or 70 pictures that helped satisfy our appetites. A month later we’ve received the whole 500+ picture collection. And we cherish every single picture.
When I say the work speaks for itself, that’s only partially true—the finished products are outstanding and make it look like what Stephanie does is effortless. But in reality, you need to sit down and talk with her to understand that this isn’t just a good photographer to capture your big day—this is someone who cares about capturing the whole story, the little nuances that make your relationship remarkable and unique. Stephanie makes each picture live and breathe like you’re back there on that happy day, watching your bride descend the stairs perfectly (at least her camera lens isn’t obscured by an occasional teardrop). Thank you, Stephanie, for giving us these treasures to look back on forever. -

I did a TON of research on photographers and videographers for our big day because that was the thing we cared the most about. I remember searching and sending off inquiries for hours, but I especially remember finding Stephanie Axtell Photography on Instagram and REALLY hoping it would work out. Well I am SO happy it did because Stephanie and her husband Charles were the absolute best--I mean, like, we keep talking about how awesome not just our photos are, but how awesome *the people* were to work with. I was nervous that photographers would be cheesy or force-fit candid pictures and it would be uncomfortable behind the scenes (despite the pictures being great), but those concerns were immediately put to rest when we did our engagement pictures. Stephanie was very easy to work with, accommodating and also gave great advice no matter the questions we threw at her. The photos came out BEAUTIFUL and we got even more excited for our big day. I went on to do bridal portraits with Stephanie as well and then of course had both Stephanie and Charles there on our wedding day for photography and videography. Even though I threw a last minute change of timeline at them, they were flexible and happy to accommodate. All our wedding party was super impressed with the professionalism, personality and people-management that Stephanie and Charles showed. Little did the wedding party know how AMAZING our pictures would be and they loved them even more! Looking back I can't imagine having anyone else there with us along the journey -- I would recommend Stephanie Axtell Photography in a heartbeat to anyone!! -

Update: Stephanie is AMAZING. We were blown away by her photos. We've received so many compliments from family and friends about the photographs! Not only that, Stephanie helped make our day special. We got married in the midst of COVID madness, but Stephanie worked with us, even after a date and location change. She was professional and personable. I felt like I had a friend photographing me and helping along the way. I can't say enough good things about her! You will NOT be disappointed!!
June 2019: Stephanie took our engagement photos this past summer and my fiance and were THRILLED with the results. She was professional and made us both feel really comfortable in front of the camera (we can both be awkward humans). Our wedding is in May 2020 and I know our wedding photos will be as stunning as our engagement photos! Highly recommend! -

I am the kind of person who researches things like it's my only job! I spent SO much time researching different photography and videography teams, and after speaking to Stephanie on the phone, I KNEW that we had to have her for our special day! She was so much fun to talk to on the phone and totally put me at ease while I was under all of the stress and pressure of starting my wedding planning. After scheduling our dates, she completely worked with us and rearranged her schedule to accommodate us for our engagement pictures. She sent us a few sneak peeks only a few days after taking the pictures and we were AMAZED! They were absolutely beautiful and more than we could have ever hoped for! Stephanie is absolutely AMAZING! We had our engagement photos taken by her in August and I couldn't recommend her more. The day of our photos, weather was unpredictable. Coming from Charlotte, I was so anxious about rescheduling or coming up with an alternative plan. Stephanie swooped in, proposing a solution and the utmost guidance. She was extremely professional, and flexible with our timing and travel arrangements. She kept me calm throughout the entire process (which was much needed) and made our shoot a BLAST! She also delivered our gallery back to us on a tight time table to send our save the dates. And might I add - the pictures were AMAZING! We can't wait to have her shoot our wedding next September! -

From the first phone call I had with Stephanie, I knew we had to have her capture our wedding! She was super easy to talk to and it was evident she was super passionate about what she is doing! My husband and I first did our engagement photo session with Stephanie. We arrived a little nervous and unsure of what to expect, but Stephanie blew us away! She made us feel super comfortable throughout the entire session and had amazing techniques to help us relax so she could capture some amazing shots. After our engagement session I knew the wedding photos were going to be amazing!
Day of the wedding Stephanie and her husband were awesome!! She went above and beyond that day and even helped me as I struggled getting into my dress. She also captured every special moment from the day. I am so happy we had Stephanie there for one of the best days of our life! She not only is wonderful, but so are her photos!! Stephanie did an amazing job with our engagement, bridal, and wedding photos! I could not have asked for a better experience. We had a beach wedding at Shell Island Resort and it turned out really well! Stephanie's photography style was classy and elegant but also creative and artistic! She was professional and always arrived on time and prepared to start the photo session. Her videography team did an excellent job of recording our wedding and reception without us even noticing that they were there. We can't wait to see how the ceremony video and wedding movie turn out! Best Decision for your Wedding
Stephanie is your best option in a photographer. Period. The pictures she captures are not only in the perfect locations, angles, lighting, moments, but you can sense that the pictures are planned and developed with meticulous planning and experience. The photos are amazing, but they aren’t even the best part of Stephanie’s services. Her priority when photographing your event is ensuring that it occurs as successfully as possible. This is something that is hard to find in a photographer, so make sure to experience it yourself! We could not be happier with our decision to hire Stephanie for our wedding, so make sure you are the next client on her list!

Easy to work with photographer
Stephanie took our engagement pictures, my bridal portraits and our day of photography for our wedding. Stephanie was so easy to work with -- our engagement pictures had to be rescheduled due to the hurricane and we were able to reschedule quickly. Photography was one of the most important things to us and we are so pleased with how our pictures came out (plus the turn around time was unusually quick!!) Stephanie was always quick to respond to any questions I had and worked well with my wedding planner to help coordinate the timing of our wedding day! We are so glad we chose to work with Stephanie! -

My fiancé, Calvin, and I were so excited to get our pictures done at the beach. We absolutely love the beach and spend any free time at the beach. In fact, the beach is where I realized that I was falling for Calvin and knew he was going to be something special in my life. Anyway, we scheduled our pictures and then Mother Nature had other plans. Stephanie kept in contact all the way up to when the hurricane hit and then was very quick to reschedule our pictures, when we realized that the hurricane was going to hit the area. After the hurricane we had to switch our location for pictures because our original location wasn't a good spot after the hurricane and Stephanie recommend Fort Fisher. It was a great recommendation and the pictures turned out BEAUTIFUL. Stephanie had such a great personality and made us feel comfortable in front of the camera. Her technique to get the look she wanted were clever and had a way to turn the photoshoot into a new memory with stories to tell. A great picture tells has a way of telling a story and Stephanie definitely did that with our engagement pictures. She got all the pictures we wanted. The pictures she took for us turned out to be EVERYTHING WE WANTED AND MORE! I definitely recommend her to anyone in the area, or not in the area that want great pictures. I mean, we drove two hours down to the beach and two hours back for our engagement photos and it was SO WORTH IT! -

We met with many photographers before her, but her professionalism, sweet personality, and beautiful photos won us over! She shot our engagement session, my boudoir shoot, and our wedding.
