Amazing Food and Amazing Staff

One of the most raved about things at our wedding was the food! We did stations - salad, sliders, and sides and it was an absolute hit! There was not a single bad option on the buffet. The huge plus was the staff. They were SO accommodating and never let my husband, or I go without food or a drink. They were always asking if we needed anything or if there was anything they could get us. They truly were an all-around amazing vendor.

Fabulous cake and experience!

Meghan did an absolutely amazing job with our cake. We had a great discussion over options for each tier, and wound up going in an unexpected direction. The cake itself looked fantastic and we got a ton of raves--and were happy that the venue put aside some of each tier for us, so we could try some after the wedding! There was not much cake left over, despite having fewer guests than initially expected.

Beautiful and Delicious!

Sweet & Savory ended up being a fantastic choice for our wedding cake! Meghan was very helpful with our cake selection and design. The cake turned out to be absolutely delightful, both in appearance and taste. Our wedding guests loved the cake and raved about it! Sweet & Savory is highly recommended for your next event!

Best Red Velvet Cake Ever for MD microwedding

Would give 10+ stars if I could! Highly recommend! Delicious, communicative, punctual, exactly what we wanted! We ordered a 1 tiered red velvet cake with Italian cream cheese buttercream icing and blush sugar roses. It was absolutely delicious!! Very moist, not too sweet, and easily fed 15 people with plenty of leftovers. I also ordered adorable heart-shaped sugar cookies with “Mr. & Mrs” on them and “with love” on others in green icing and pink, rose gold, white, and silver sprinkles as favors! They were so cute and tasty! Meghan was very communicative despite me living in England and organizing a wedding in 2 weeks back in Maryland during covid! She sent pictures of the sprinkles for me to choose from and worked with me on a simple cake design based on my Pinterest find. So grateful and definitely recommend!

Perfectly tasty

So if you want to have leftover dessert to take home after the wedding, dont hire Meghan because that will not be thing. I really struggled with finding a baker because I had little interest in cake or cupcakes, so finding Sweet & Savory Bake Shop felt like a sign. The variety Meghan offers is some of the best in the area. We went with the fruit tarts, 2 flavors of cheesecake bites, and 2 pies for a dessert table spread, plus a small cake for cutting but she offers so much more than that! Everything was ridiculously delicious! My guests loved the cheesecake bites in particular, but literally the only thing I was able to take home was our wedding cake and a small box of tarts. Everything else was devoured! The cake was moist and my icing picky husband loved it! At the tasting everything tasted fresh and authentic. Meghan was so easy to work with, and a steady presence as I navigated postponing our wedding. She was flexible and very reassuring! If you want a dessert spread that your guests will remember pick this bake shop!!

Best wedding cake i've ever had

Megan is amazing baker and incredible at what she does. Her wedding cake tastes unreal- It was by far the best wedding cake I've ever had! She is able to make all different flavor combinations. Our cake was gorgeous as well and exactly what we wanted!

Delicious and beautiful desserts

Meghan was always responsive. We loved our tasting. And ultimately loved our cake and cupcakes! We loved the wine-infused flavors as it went so well with our theme (: We highly recommend her!

Best wedding donuts!!

We were excited about having donuts for our daughters wedding but after we met with Meghan and did our tasting we were extra excited! The variety of donuts we chose were delicious and my personal fav was the Blueberry Lemon Glaze. Meghan delivered the donuts and set-up a beautiful display. The donuts were a big hit on our daughters special day.

Delicious cake and cupcakes!

Meghan was so great to work with. We really enjoyed our tasting experience, and got to mix and match cake flavors with a variety of icings to come up with a cupcake spread and cutting cake for our wedding. Everyone loved the cupcakes and our cake turned out perfectly! I highly recommend Sweet & Savory.

Perfect wedding cake!

My husband and I decided to go non-traditional and do a cannoli cake for our wedding, and it turned out amazing!! It was a huge hit with us and the guests. I would definitely recommend Meghan!

Excellent dessert spread

Sweet & Savory was terrific to work with. We were able to customize our desserts to fit the fall theme for our November wedding, and people absolutely loved the desserts. They were all eaten very quickly. We would highly recommend Sweet & Savory.

Wonderful cake

Meghan did an amazing job! We weren't sure if we wanted to go cake vs cupcake when we came in and she went through all the options with us to come up with the final compromises. It was very important to us that we had dairy free options for our guests and per those judges, they were delicious.

Delicious!

We would recommend Sweet and Savory to anyone looking for delicious desserts for their wedding! Meghan was extremely professional and prompt throughout the entire process. We didn't come to her with many ideas, but she took the small ideas we had and ran with them. We ended up doing a single tier wedding cake for myself and the groom to cut and then cupcakes for the guests. We had many sunflowers and it was Meghan's idea to decorate some of the cupcakes as sunflowers, which was a hit with our guests! She delivered both beautiful and delicious items for our wedding and we couldn't be happier.

Meghan was an absolute DREAM to work with! I'm a huge perfectionist, so my now-husband and I spent months researching different bakers and sampling cakes all over the area. When we met Meghan, she was so accommodating, kind, professional, and her artistry showed in every aspect of her work. When we tried her buttercream, we were sold. When we tasted her wine infused cakes, we were beyond sold. We asked if she could come up with something lavender flavored to go with our theme, and when we dropped by to see what she created, she had BOTH a cake option and a filling option for us. We ended up going with her cabernet chocolate cake with raspberry filling and her moscato white cake with lavender filling (although everything was so delicious, there was no way we could have gone wrong). To DIE for, seriously. I still have dreams about that cake. On top of that, she replicated the delicate line work from our stationary onto the cake with hand piped details that looked absolutely flawless. I couldn't have been more happy! Thanks Meghan!!

Meghan was an absolute joy to work with for our wedding! She made a smaller tiered cake and a dessert buffet for our wedding. She did her best to accommodate our budget and was very clear in her communication about what to expect. I was one of those brides who appreciated as much information as possible (as a bride, you honestly just don't know what you don't know!!), and Meghan was so helpful. She was detailed in her responses and prompt to get back to me. In addition I had to make some last minute changes and additions and she was so flexible in working with what I needed. Last but MOST importantly, her cake and desserts were so delicious. They were the right amount of sweet and tart and the cake was so moist. The guests were raving about all of it. We had leftover cake to take home, and it was a treat to enjoy even a week after our wedding! You won't regret working with Meghan!

Meghan was absolutely wonderful to work with! In the months before our wedding she was in the process of moving store locations and still made it very easy to schedule and meet her for the tasting. Both her cupcakes and cake (we got both!) were delicious and we had so many compliments from our wedding guests regarding how great the cupcakes were! Our caterer even commented that the cupcakes were going so fast, they were having a hard time refilling the platters :) All in all, Meghan was a great vendor to work with. She was also quick with emails, able to understand and deliver on our vision for the cupcakes, and best of all she made wonderful cupcakes and cake for our special day which we beautiful and delicious!

Meghan was great to work with. The cake was delicious, especially the almond, the prices were reasonable, and she listened to what we wanted exactly. After meeting with Meghan I felt confident that everything would go exactly as planned on our wedding day. And sure enough when I turned up at the venue there was the cake delivered on time, and looking perfect. Everyone loved it!!! Also a few weeks before the wedding we asked Meghan to make us some favors, cookies in little bags. She did this, and the cookies were even better tasting than I had thought possible as well. Thank you so much for your part in our special day!!!

Meghan was amazing to work with while planning our wedding cake. I showed her a few pictures of designs I liked, and she was able to help create the perfect design for the day! She was professional and courteous, and she was very quick to respond with emails. The cake was DELICIOUS, and during tasting we could not make up our mind so we wound up with three different flavors for our cake! One of my bridesmaids was gluten free, and Meghan was happy to make some additional gluten free cupcakes as well. I will definitely be ordering future cakes/cupcakes from Meghan when they are needed!

Loved working with Meghan! She was helpful and knowledgeable offering ideas and suggestions. Her experience shone through which made it easy to be confident in the outcome. Meghan was amazing to work with. We came to her on somewhat of a short notice but she was completely flexible and understanding. She definitely blew me away with the way the cake looked and tasted. Her frosting is beyond amazing but that only matches the quality of the cake. It was so amazing and moist. If you are looking for the best cake around, you found the right place. Sweet & Savory went above and beyond all my expectations when it came to a wedding cake! I was a gluten-free and dairy-free bride who spent hours searching for a local bakery that was able to make a cake that I would be able to enjoy on the day of my wedding. When I finally found Sweet & Savory and read all the amazing reviews, I was sold! Sweet & Savory could not have been more accommodating for my dietary needs. My wedding cake was absolutely delicious (it was gluten-free and dairy-free)! It was also beautifully decorated. Sweet & Savory also made sheet cakes that were cut up for my guests who were not gluten-free or dairy-free. I highly recommend Sweet & Savory! Thank you for giving me the opportunity to be able to eat wedding cake on my wedding day (something that I never thought I would have been able to do after finding out I had these diet restrictions). Meghan is truly magical with gluten free cakes! Both my husband and my mom are gluten free so we ordered a lemon gluten free cake to cut at the wedding, plus two different kinds of wine infused cupcakes since we were married a winery. My mom ended up also ordering a gluten free cake for my bridal shower, which tasted even better then the wedding cake we tasted, so Meghan used that recipe for our wedding cake! We ran out of cake pretty quickly because the non-gluten free people were all trying to eat the cake and not the cupcakes! Thanks again Meghan for the gorgeous cake and cupcakes that matched our theme perfectly. We cannot wait for our 1st anniversary so we can get more of that cake!

From my first meeting with Meghan, I knew Sweet & Savory would be the one to make my wedding cake. Meghan at Sweet and Savory was just perfect. We were very last minute in getting our dessert options figured out... I really wanted a dessert bar, but my husband-to-be insisted that we had to have a cake. I contacted a couple of vendors and Meghan was quick to respond and we were able to set up a tasting very quickly. She was my top pick, as she could do cakes as well as other desserts. We ended up doing a selection of pies, gluten free cupcakes, and a small two-tier wedding cake. First of all, Meghan's apple pie was amazing!!! I have changed how I make apple pie to try to replicate hers... it was that good! Many of the pies went very quickly.. coconut cream was my daughter's fav, the lemon tart was perfectly puckery, and the caramel walnut tart was a sleeper hit. My new son-in-law ate the piece in the fridge that the caterers packed up for us. I am still a bit bitter that I didn't get to eat it myself. The gluten free cupcakes were really very good. The flavor and the texture of the chocolate ones almost reminded me of Mexican chocolate... I enjoyed those leftovers quite a bit! We had several gluten free guests and they were happy to have something available that they felt was safe to eat. Last but not least, Meghan's cake was so beautiful and simple...just what I wanted The florist added a few flowers and it was perfect. I am not much of a cake eater, but this was so good and the frosting was so fabulous that I am looking forward to the free cake she provides for the couple's one year anniversary. Yum!

Sweet and Savory is a fantastic company!! We used them for the wedding cake top, dessert buffet (including cupcakes) and cake-in-a-jar. Every dessert was delicious and fresh! We had some real foodies at the wedding that genuinely raved about the desserts. It is a small business owned by Meghan Gourley. She is an absolute pleasure to deal with. They are attentive, flexible, reasonably priced and responsible. Everything was perfect. This was probably the easiest vendor that we dealt with throughout the wedding process. They are wonderful!!!

So we changed our minds about what we needed for desserts about fifteen times, mostly because our guest list kept growing. Sweet & Savory was great. They helped us build our dessert table appropriately and to the right size, so that all that was left was our cake topper! It was great! We had cake, tarts, and dinosaur-shaped cookies (what can I say, we're big kids at heart!) The cake was delicious, the tarts were wonderful, and everyone raved about the cookies.

Also, we ordered gluten free cupcakes for a few of our pickier guests, and they said they were dynamite!

Meghan was a pleasure to work with! Our wedding cake was beautiful and delicious...and NOT 1 Piece was left over!! Our cake was a 3-tier cake topped with fresh flowers, and alternating layers of Almond Cake with Amaretto Butter Cream icing and Pumpkin Cake with Cream Cheese Butter Cream icing. The cake was moist and flavorful and the icing was creamy and light. Meghan gave us the perfect cake!

AMAZING CAKE!!

I used Meghan from Sweet & Savory for our wedding cake and will use Sweet & Savory for any future events from here on out! She really made me a huge fan and customer for life!

The price was phenomenal, the quality was amazing. Our wedding cake was literally my dream cake. She took what i had in mind and showed her pictures of, into a real life beautiful delicious cake!! We had three tiers and she made the buttercream different for each layer which was awesome and added variety for our guests.

She is soooo friendly, and patient. On the day of our wedding our cake topper still hadn't arrived. Meghan was super comforting to me (i was freaking out on wedding day as you can imagine) and she waited there until the cake topper arrived to make sure the cake looked perfect with the flowers and topper. i was SO grateful for this.

I even recommended her to my coworker who was getting married, and my coworker went with Sweet & Savory as well and loved the cake.

THANK YOU AGAIN Sweet & Savory!! Can not wait for our anniversary FRESH top tier cake instead of having to freeze one! You rock Meghan.

Meghan did an amazing job. Our wedding cake was beautiful and we were told that it was delicious by so many of our friends and family. Meghan was easy to work with and created the cake exactly the way I envisioned. We can't wait to celebrate our anniversary with the cake we had frozen. Meghan did an impeccable job on our cakes and dessert buffet for our wedding, we highly recommend her! She was prompt and professional, and everything was absolutely delicious. All the cake flavors we selected were great (we also had red velvet with buttercream and white chiffon with coconut buttercream filling), but the white chiffon with buttercream frosting and lemon curd filling was above and beyond. Our guests were so complimentary!

I definitely made the right choice going with Sweet & Savory. Meghan is great to work with, and was more than willing to try new recipes to get what we were looking for-- we had two layers with fresh strawberries and cream cheese filling and one with peaches. So delicious! She made the cake look the exact way I wanted, with scalloped icing and fresh flowers cascading down. It was almost too pretty to eat! Meghan was also great about making sure w didn't get too much cake and even downsized when we ended up with fewer guests than planned, which saved us some money. I highly recommend going with Sweet & Savory!

I definitely recommend Sweet & Savory! It was a seamless experience working with Meghan. She is very professional, responsive, flexible, and her cakes are delicious! We ended up with a three layer cake, choosing a different flavor for each layer. We simply couldn't decide on just one flavor - they were all so good! Meghan was so helpful coming up with ways to get the cake we wanted within the budget we had set. Meghan was on time the day of our wedding and waited for the flowers to be delivered to she could decorate the cake. It was so beautiful and tasty!

Choosing a cake vendor was one of my hardest decisions because spending so much for a cake seemed crazy to me. I was so happy when I talked to Meghan from Sweet & Savory. Her cakes were beautiful, yummy, and reasonably priced. I was so unsure of what I wanted it to look like and was between two ideas so she said she'd combine them. It ended up looking Amazing!!! It was really hot on my wedding day and it still looked so perfect that people asked if I had a fake decoration cake bc they didn't think you could have a cake so beautifully perfect! It was also soooo nice that she delivers the cake to the venue bc with all the other stuff to worry about that day and transport moving a cake would have been disasterous. We were so happy to find Sweet & Savory. We tried other places but those choices quickly disappeared when when met Meghan and had our tasting. She was professional and helpful and her cakes didn't taste like they came off an assembly line. They had that special something we were looking for. We just had out one year anniversary and Meghan made us an amazing tasting anniversary cake to help us relive that perfect day. We can easily recommend S&S for anyone looking for that special cake. We are thinking about getting married again soon just to have another one of Meghan's cakes.

We are SO happy we went with Sweet & Savory for our wedding cake. The cake was not only beautiful, but absolutely delicious. Meghan's cakes are the best! Everyone at our wedding was raving about how delicious the cupcakes were. When we first met with her, we did not know exactly what we had wanted. Luckily, she gave us some great suggestions and we came up with a great plan. My husband and I are gluten-free, so we had wanted our cake to be gluten-free, but wanted our guests to have regular cake. She was more than accommodating. We ordered the spice cake with cream cheese icing and almond cake with chocolate icing. Both were superb. We ended up getting cupcakes for all of our guests, which turned out to be perfect. Everyone loves cupcakes!

Meghan did the cake for my wedding and it was the best cake I've ever had! My husband and I met with two cake bakers prior to the wedding and hers were above and beyond the better product. They taste so homemade and the buttercream is seriously the best!! We did a three tiered cake with lemon and lemon buttercream, chocolate cake with kahlua buttercream, and almond pound cake with the standard buttercream. They were each so delicious and everyone loved it! We have a good amount left over so we sectioned it off and froze it so we can enjoy it throughout the year. You also get a free anniversary cake for your one year! Very thoughtful. The cake was decorated with a rustic buttercream look and fresh flowers on the tiers. It was so beautiful and exactly what we wanted. Meghan was quick to respond to questions I had and very professional. I would recommend her to anyone!

I would highly recommend using Meghan as she was delightful to work with, the cake tasted amazing and was absolutely beautiful. We got married outside in August and the Meghan was great in helping us decide what type of cake could hold up to the heat. My husband and I received many compliments on how beautiful the cake was. Meghan also offers to bake the couple a cake for your one year anniversary, which we LOVED. It was so nice to not have to worry about that detail on the wedding day but still enjoy a truly delicious cake on our first anniversary.

We got a lot of compliments about our cake, and several even asked for the name of the baker so they could get the same cake for their wedding. No higher praise than that. Cake was light and not too sweet, which was great. The price was good as well. Would definitely recommend.

We recently hired Meghan to bake three cakes for our Maryland wedding. We had a slightly odd request and wanted three cakes, two one layered cakes and one two layered cakes, and she was completely flexible in talking with us to ensure we received exactly what we wanted. However, the main reason I would recommend Sweet and Savory to others is that the cakes taste great!

Meghan did an amazing job. My original baker fell through just 3 weeks before my wedding. I quickly went on the hunt and I found Sweet & Savory. Meghan worked with our budget and short of notice time line. We also requested to have a sprinkle cake. She had never done a sprinkle cake before and she exceeded my expectations. She made it look exactly like the picture I showed her. I still get compliments on it. Not only did it look amazing but it tasted so good! I would definitely recommend using her.

Meghan did a fantastic job with our wedding cake. Throughout the planning process, she was super responsive and helpful through email, and at one time she even went out of her way to assist me with a customer service issue with another company (I had ordered a cake plate to be shipped directly to her and when it did not arrive as expected, she contacted the company to address it before even bringing me into it... which I SO appreciated in the heart of wedding planning). Our wedding cake was delicious and absolutely beautiful -- we were so excited to see it on our wedding day. This was a second wedding so we really wanted good cake for our guests that wasn't astronomically priced. The cake was moist and delicious and beautiful and Megan was great to work with. We had a really great experience and were glad we found her.

Meghan squeezed us in, two weeks before our wedding, when our initial bakery unexpectedly went out of business. She is extremely prompt with returning emails, and answered all of our questions.

She does not have a store front, but we met her at her home and did a tasting. Amazing cake, and so many flavor combinations. When asked to make our lemon selection even more lemony, she obliged and did not disappoint.

She delivered to our venue the day of. The display was beautiful and I think we only had 10 cupcakes left! I think everyone liked them :)

Sweet & Savory made my wedding cake and it was delicious! Meghan really worked with me to decide how I wanted the cake decorated and it ended up looking amazing. The buttercream is fantastic! Not too sweet - you could eat it all day! In fact she will give you a fresh anniversary cake for your 1st anniversary so I have been munching on leftover cake all day!!! Definitely recommend.

Meghan Gourley of Sweet & Savory in Frederick, Maryland, absolutely knocked everyone's socks off with her one of a kind dessert! My husband and I aren't big fans of cake, so we specifically asked her if she could make us a non-cake dessert for our wedding, to take the place of a traditional wedding cake. Meghan was more than obliging (despite being known for her elaborate wedding cakes) and decided to make us her decadent layered dessert known as "Death by Chocolate". We needed 60 servings for our guests, and she graced us with at least 80 individually crafted Death by Chocolates!! Which was totally awesome, as they were such a hit many of our guests requested seconds! In addition many of our family members are on gluten free diets, and so she created all of the desserts gluten free so everyone was able to enjoy them. We had a great experience with Sweet & Savory, and have recommened her services many times over :)

If you want real buttercream you must go to Sweet and Savory! Our cake truly tasted like cake and it was beautiful. No fondant! Our guests loved it and kept raving. They even offer a free cake on our anniversary. Can't wait! High marks for Sweet and Savory. Our cake was one of the best things about our wedding.

We had a wonderful experience with Sweet & Savory bakery. We worked directly with the owner Meghan, who is the one who bakes and decorates the cakes as well. We were able to pick our own combo of flavors and had one for each layer. Our wedding was five months ago and since then have had so many compliments on the flavor the cake and several guests saying they liked their first piece so much that they had to go try the other flavors as well. Meghan is also very professional, prompt, and executed a design based on a photo from Pinterest.

We had a very small family wedding in a park so we hired Sweet & Savory site unseen and without a tasting so I was a little nervous. The cake was very affordable but it was still my wedding day! Great vendor! Meghan was excellent from the tasting to the big day. Our cake was wonderful and delicious! Our guests actually came up to us and said they were pleasantly surprised that our cake tasted good, because wedding cakes usually don't. My husband had about three pieces!

I was very impressed with Sweet &Savory. The tasting went flawless and this was our 5th stop for cake tasting. The tasting was informative and the cake was very moist and delicious. There was not one cake that we tried that was bad. She was quick to help with a design and was able to give us a lot of ideas. We decided to go with her that same day because we were so impressed. The day of the wedding I was not able to see the cake delivered but I had my matron of honor take a picture of it so I could see it before the wedding, It was more beautiful than I imagined. Meghan did an AMAZING job on our wedding cake. Her prices were affordable and the cake actually tasted great, not plain like your typical wedding cake. Originally we had done a tasting at sugar bakers in Baltimore but didn't want to spend quite as much as what they were asking. After falling in love with their "smith island" flavor, Meghan offered to give it a shot for our tasting. Her version was amazing, possibly better than the one I had fallen in love with. She nailed the design that I was looking for and even added the flowers to the cake when she delivered it. We couldn't have asked for more. I highly recommend Meghan and will definitely be using her again for my cake needs!

We had our tasting in Meghan's condo and as soon as we left, my husband and I looked at eachother and said, "That's the one!" We even cancelled a tasting we had later in the day and I don't regret it for a second. Meghan did a wonderful job on our wedding cupcakes. They looked lovely and tasted even better. It was literally the best wedding cake I've ever tasted. She was extremely flexible with flavors (we actually had 5 different flavor combinations!) and decorations, which I changed in the last couple weeks before the wedding. The planning process was smooth. We met with her for a tasting and brought a couple of pictures of what we wanted the cake to look like. She drew some sketches and we loved how detail oriented she was.

On wedding day, we were very pleased to see our vision had come to life. The cake looked amazing. It was exactly what we wanted. The taste was great and the price was very reasonable. We received several compliments on the cake. :D
We were also pleasantly surprised to learn that she would make a complimentary tier for our one year anniversary. We can't wait!

My cake was unbelievable. Not only was it beautiful and affordable...but completely delicious!!! I had to get my mom to sneak hunks of it home so thy we could freeze it. I was enjoying my cake for over a month after the wedding and it was still as moist as he day we got married. Meghan was amazing to work with and we have decided to use her again for my dads 60tj bday cake!! Highly recommended for weddings! You get a free cake topper from her on your one year anniversary too! Just icing on the cake ;)

Sweet & Savory was great. We went to several pretty awful cake tastings before we met Meghan. This was really surprising because we were not looking for anything fancy – cupcakes in a few flavors that tasted great and had a good balance of cupcake/frosting. That’s exactly what we got from Sweet & Savory and at a VERY reasonable price. We ended up choosing red velvet, chocolate mocha and lemon. Meghan was great the day of the wedding doing all of the setup. We will definitely be using her for future events.

I can't say enough good things about Meghan. We interviewed four different vendors for our cake and we liked Meghan from the start. She won us over not only with the fabulous taste of the cakes we sampled, but with her personality and customer service. She is friendly, knowledgeable and really knows how to read her customers. In the months before the wedding, I e-mailed Meghan with questions many, many times. She always responded quickly (in less than 24 hours) with extremely thorough answers and offered to meet in person if I wanted to work on cake designs in person. In the end, the cake was absolutely beautiful and turned out exactly like I envisioned it. To top it all off, her cakes are absolutely delicious. During the wedding, our cake was literally gone in 20 minutes. If someone hadn't set aside a piece for me, I wouldn't have gotten any. People were lining up for second pieces and raving about the cake. I will be using Meghan for any other special occasions when we need a cake.

We loved our cake!!! Meghan really listened and did exactly what we wanted! We were looking for simple but elegant. We wanted to add black ribbon around the bottome tiers and then light pink pearls around and that is exactly what we got! She accomdated us as well when we needed to lower the number too. Meghan was amazing to work with. She baked us a rehearsal dinner cake, a wedding cake, and macaroon favors for our guests bags. Everything was delicious! The cakes turned out better than we imagined. She was so professional, easy to work with, and even called our rehearsal dinner restaurant on our behalf.

Meghan at Sweet & Savory was so great to work with and made planning our wedding long-distance totally painless! The cakes at Sweet & Savory were more delicious than options we tasted at other bakeries, and more affordable too. And we loved her flexibility in terms of cake flavors, buttercream options, and design. Would highly recommend Sweet & Savory!

Meghan was extremely professional and enjoyable to work with. She was so patient with my questions and just a few weeks before the wedding even sent me pictures of the flowers she had made for our cupcakes. When I had concerns about the colors she darkened them for me without any questions asked. She even threw in decorative wrappers for our cupcakes and the end result was stunning and perfect! I would hire her again in a heartbeat!

I cannot wait for my one year anniversary cake. We went on a cake tasting spree with a handful of photos and a big appetite. I've been to too many weddings where the cake was dry and plain and that was not happening at mine. I learned that so many bakers bake on Wed, Decorate on Thurs/Fri, then delivery Saturday. That is why its always dry.

Not here. We showed Meghan our dream cake and she was the one who made it! We tasted the cake, walked out the door, then called within 5 minutes to book her for our wedding. It was a great experience - I would recommend her to anyone.

Our wedding cake from Sweet & Savory was absolutely beautiful and tasted amazing! It looked even better than I imagined it would! Meghan was so easy to work with and delivered the cake with no problems. Our guests raved about how good the cake was! We even ate the top tier with our families the next day because it was so good...oops! Luckily, Meghan will give us a complimentary top tier on our 1st wedding anniversary. :) Thanks so much Meghan!!!

I first contacted Meghan to create a graduation cake. Her artistic and creative talents exceeded my expectations and the cake was as delicious as it was artistically impressive. The following year my daughter became engaged. Meghan created an engagement cake, bridal shower cake and cookies, and a wedding and groom's cake. With each creation, Meghan continued to WOW us by exceeding our expectations in her ability to duplicate a specific request or interpret our idea and create a beautiful and delicious cake. I just ordered my sixth cake from Meghan. At a moment's notice she baked yet another amazingly creative cake for a last minute dinner party. Her level of professionalism, passion, and customer service is outstanding. She is my go to pastry chef and I highly recommend her. I have every confidence that you will be as exceedingly pleased by her creations as I was.

Meghan of Sweet & Savory provided the cake for our wedding. However, to state it like that is to do an injustice to Meghan, because words may not be able to describe just how scrumptious the cake was, or how excellent Megan's service was.

Our relationship with Meghan began at a tasting session held at her location, where we were treated to what can only be described as the most delicious plate of cake flavors we had ever experienced. She was very helpful is helping us narrow down the choices and select what would be the ideal combination for our big day.

On the day of the wedding, Meghan provided a delectable cake exactly to our specifications, and many guests would later stop by to compliment it. Perhaps more importantly, Meghan herself was responsive, friendly, and professional whenever we needed to get in touch with her and during the planning period. It was as enjoyable dealing with Meghan as it was to taste the cake itself.

Meghan was recommended to us by a friend and we are really glad she did! She was very flexible and patient during our tasting and that continued as we developed the design. I think the cake is the only thing that I wasn't stressed about because I knew Meghan would make it look beautiful and taste amazing. We received so many compliments on it - people couldn't believe that it was a wedding cake since it was so yummy. I will definitely recommend her services!

The flavors were the most unique of all the places we looked. The cake was moist and delicious and the buttercream frosting was out of this world! Meghan was very accommodating, easy to work with, and professional. And having the complimentary anniversary cake so we didn't have to freeze cake for a year was just a great touch!

Meghan's cake was SO delicious!! It was so hard to pick our favorite flavor, so we ended up getting two different flavors. All of the guests loved both, and we're still enjoying some of the left overs. The cake was also decorated exactly as I had imagined it! It was beautiful! I would definitely recommend working with Meghan!

Sweet and Savory is simply the best! The cake looked luck a million bucks but was VERY reasonably priced. TRUST ME. I searched for the best cake vendor and found it. You do not have to look elsewhere. Give Meghan a call, she's extraordinary to work with. Good luck!

Meghan was the absolute best!!! She was very flexible and a pleasure to work with. She took the stress out of our decision-making process. This was huge for me because I am such an indecisive person. Meghan is so creative and talented. She was able to design our cake exactly how we envisioned it. Our idea came from a variation of other designs we had seen and Meghan nailed it!!! I could not have been more happy with the cake S&S did for my wedding. It looked beautiful, tasted great, and was EXACTALY what I asked for. For my wedding, I chose to have 22 mini cakes, one for each table and a smaller two tiered cake for me and my husband. I got the idea from the 2008 spring edition of the Martha Stewart Weddings magazine. Meghan had never created those types of mini cakes but she was immediately open to the idea. Every single one of my cakes came out beautifully. To this day I still get compliments on how delicious the cakes were. Prior to tasting cakes from Sweet & Savory, I was in love with a certain nationally recognized cake shop on U street in Washington DC. I completed a tasting at the cake shop that shall remain unnamed a few days before I met with Meghan for the first time. As soon as I tasted Meghan's cakes, I knew working with her would be the best choice. Since my wedding, I have not only recommended Meghan to every other bride and friend I know and have, but she has also made several other cakes for our special occasions. Meghan is an absolute joy to work with and I would recommend her again and again. She will make your wedding cake one to remember!!

Meghan was the best from beginning to end. She created my bridal shower and wedding cake - both of which were fantastic. The bridal shower cake design we left up to her and her creativity and the finished cake went with the decor perfectly! The wedding cake was my design and she did a fantastic job making my vision come to life. She was a real pleasure to work with every step of the way. Meghan is very creative and talented and, above all, makes some truly beautiful and tasty cakes!

Meghan worked with us from start to finish on an amazing wedding cake. She even experimented with new combinations to create a mint chocolate chip cake that we were hoping for, and it was delicious! She was helpful in narrowing down the design based on things I cut out from magazines, and ended up using a basic design that I drew and sent her. She also used a cake stand that I made with my mom, which made it even more special. She was flexible within our budget, which is important for any bride. We got married in Bethesda, MD in March 2009 and Meghan was absolutely perfect. I was planning from out of state, and she was very flexible and accommodating to meet with me and my fiancee when we were in town. Above all of that, her desserts and baking skills are amazing. We went to several bakeries in the DC area, and her cakes were easily superior. In fact, we were so impressed we decided to do a dessert buffet in addition to our cake, just so we could have as many as her baked goods as possible. We received feedback from several guests that it was the best wedding cake they had ever tasted, and I wholeheartedly agree. Meghan's quality, beauty, taste, and prices cannot be beat. I would recommend her services to any bride!! If I could go over 5 stars I would!!!

We went to Sweet & Savory for our wedding cake last year. We visited several bakeries in our hunt for a cake, and the service we got from Sweet & Savory was far and away the best of all the vendors. Meghan, the owner, was the most oriented to our needs; many of the other vendors seemed more concerned about their own accollades than my fiancee and I. Not only that, but the cake from Sweet & Savory was the moistest and the frosting was delicious! Finally, the prices per slice at S&S were far more reasonable than any others we encountered. Since we decided not to order a top layer cake to freeze, Meghan agreed to make us a top layer at no extra charge for our 1-year anniversary. We just celebrated it and the cake was as yummy as we remembered. We would recommend Sweet & Savory to anyone.

Our wedding cake tasted amazing!! Meghan's cakes are light and not too sweet-- exactly what we were looking for. We had been to multiple cake tastings at vendors that claim to have "light" cakes, but none tasted like Meghan's! We chose the chocolate cake with chocolate hazelnut icing. It was DELICIOUS! And the cake looked super cute too! Meghan worked with me on the cake design and I mailed her the ribbons I wanted on the cake ahead of time. On the day of the wedding, she delivered the cake and made sure that it was perfect on the cake table. We had left some flowers for the topper and she decorated it beautifully. Meghan's prices are also VERY reasonable.

Mom of bride is doing this review: Meghan Gourley, was the best pastry buttercream cake maker. Her combination of a 2-deck wedding cake with raspberry filler and 100 combination cupcakes were super delicious. All cupcakes and the cake were totally devoured-nothing left. Cake was yellow cake with hombre peach to white buttercream icing and raspberry filling.

We initially choose this vendor due to the location proximity to the venue but man, her cakes are DELICIOUS! She makes the icing butter cream which tastes so much better than fondant, and her cakes still look amazing! She also provides a fresh top cake layer for you at your one year instead of it taking up space in your freezer and tasting bad after a year.

We choose pumpkin and cream cheese butter cream (PERFECT for fall), the white chiffon and chocolate mousse, and the chocolate cake with raspberry.

What a fantastic experience I had working with Meghan. The tasting and consultation was private and she really took the time to ensure that we got exactly what we wanted. She worked with us to determine which flavors would go best together, to stay within our budget, and to ultimately get our perfect wedding cake. On the day of there were no hiccups whatsoever. Meghan is a professional who got the job done. Not only is her service great, but the quality is unbelievable. Our guests raved about the cake and many went back for second pieces. We had a beautiful, affordable cake and couldn't ask for a more service friendly company to create it.

Meghan was great. She met with us well before our wedding date (which some other vendors I spoke with had issues with) for a tasting. Meghan was polite, informative, and extremely helpful. All of my emails were responded to promptly and clearly. I felt really safe putting my trust in her and she completely delivered! Our cake was delicious and beautiful.
