Sugar and Spice catered my mom's 100th birthday party. From my initial discussions with Billy to a last minute venue change (from outdoor to indoor due to rain), Billy and his staff were pleasant, kind, accommodating, and professional through it all. And the food!!! I believe each of the 70 guests has commented to me on the quality and presentation of the food!! I had expected the food to be good, but it was consistently exceptional, with every single offering high-end delicious! No doubt about it - have Sugar and Spice cater your event! -

Billy and his team were above and beyond phenomenal! He was adaptable, communicative, supportive, kind, and his staff reflected these qualities as well. I couldn't be happier with our wedding day. Multiple guests have raved to me about how good the food was, and Billy and his team were quick thinkers to adapt our wedding to indoors due to weather. They are hard workers and dependable. All that you want for your wedding. Worth their cost and service!! -

When my then-fiancé approached me with Spice Catering for our wedding, I was a little taken aback. The prices were considerably lower than many of the other local options so, of course, I thought "what's the catch?"
There is no catch. The food was incredible. Billy and his team are patient, responsive, and do a fantastic job of guiding couples through the process without any stress or hassle. It's a low-key experience from start to finish, and they deliver in a big way. They made our wedding reception everything that we wanted - and people were talking about the food for weeks after. While I hope that I never find myself in a situation where I need to plan a wedding again, I look forward to finding an excuse to hire them one more time. -

Oh man, I don't even know where to start!!!!
From the very beginning working with Spice Catering was a breeze! I was a very type A bride who wanted to get most of my vendors booked a year in advance so I was researching for months to make sure that when I was ready to book I could go full steam ahead. While researching, I saved Spice Catering in my vendors and I found myself always going back to them. I finally decided to reach out and very quickly I received an email detailing everything! I really appreciated this because some vendors I felt like I had to jump through hoops to get a straight answer. The very first time I heard from Billy I felt at ease with everything. I paid a deposit shortly after that and we even had a few follow up calls (again I was type A) whenever I needed! My now husband and I went over the many many many food options and we were so excited to taste them! The flexibility of setting up the menu, the tasting and making changes was so smooth I never once felt overwhelmed. We did our tasting in January 2025 and our wedding was October 25th, 2025. For 9 months we told everyone how good the food was and how excited we were to eat at the wedding! Fast forward to the few months before the wedding, the attention to detail from their staff was amazing! We decided to use them for our open bar as well and Kate had reached out to confirm our beer and wine options and again was great! I then heard from Erick who was the maitre d that would be with us for the wedding. This was great! The staff was stellar as they even set up some of my decor before the wedding! I had a decorator and a day of coordinator but Spice Catering were the ones to get the job done CORRECTLY!!!! They truly are rockstars and I was so impressed with them! My husband and I did a first look so that we could enjoy our cocktail hour and Erick was awesome! He would ask us what we wanted and have it brought to us! Now I should probably mention that at the time of my wedding I was 6 months pregnant and I have not been able to eat a lot but I was still eating my wedding food no matter what!!!! Dinner was amazing as expected and I wish we had more leftovers than we did because I would eat that food every day if I could! My husband and I wished we picked two different options (we both got the chicken) so that way we could have split the meals but we didn't want to share the chicken because it was THAT GOOD! For dessert we really wanted to have a "grab and go" type of vibe so that everyone can still dance and move around without needing to sit and eat. This was a big hit with our guests as well because after dinner the vibe was party!!!! There is actually a part in our wedding video of me eating apple crisp while dancing! LOL
The clean up was also something that I really appreciate with their staff. They moved all the decorations that my decorator brought in and moved them to the side so she could come pick it up, and then they made a separate pile for us for all the things that we had brought. Another thing to add- my venue was a super simple venue, we paid basically for the view and we had to bring in EVERYTHING ourselves and Billy and Spice Catering were rockstars with this as well. I did not know just how much was needed to pull off a wedding of this size (140 people) and Billy worked with Cartwright and Daughters rentals and told them exactly how much of everything was needed! I just had to pick out colors and specifics. Having that be done for me was such a huge help because I would not have known how much of each item to get.
It has now been a little over a month since our wedding and I still have friends and family talking about how great the food and the dessert was! I said to my husband that I wished I could go to our wedding as a guest because the guest experience that Spice Catering created was top notch and I would do it all over and over and over again if I could! 100/100 stars!! -

We can't possibly put into words how wonderful our experience was with Spice Catering. We were incredibly fortunate to find them early on in the process of planning our wedding and at every step of the way we had Billy and Co. to lean on. Billy did so much more for us than just menu-planning and serving delicious food. He was a reliable voice of reason and a true friend within the chaotic wedding industry.
Three months after our wedding we're still hearing from attendees raving about the food. It was INCREDIBLE. Make no mistake, your guests don't care about your vows, they care about their meals and thanks to Spice Catering our guests were over-the-moon because of the quality of the ingredients, variety of choices, and the outstanding service. We opted to do family-style so that everyone could pick and choose whatever they wanted. After we had our tasting we knew that there was no way anyone could resist trying some of everything. The dishes were beautiful and every single item on each platter was made with care and placed with purpose and artistry. We had several folks with allergies or specific food restrictions and there was never a concern that their needs and safety would be met and ensured.
Laura made sure that our every need was met throughout the day. After our ceremony we stole away to a private room to breathe, excitedly tell each other "We did it!", and try the hors d'oeuvres and sip our specialty cocktails together that Laura had laid out for us to enjoy. She helped us to plan some of the specifics for setting up and layout and took care of last-minute details we hadn't thought of without us even having to ask.
We truly believe that there is no better catering company and staff available to make your event unforgettable. If I had to change every single vendor we used and only was allowed to keep one, I would pick Spice Catering without a second thought. -

Spice Catering was so great to work with through the entire wedding planning process. Billy was the only caterer that I met with who was willing to mix and match items within their packages so I could have the food and service I wanted within my budget. Their food was amazing and we received so many compliments from our guests. Their bar team and selection was also excellent. The staff during the event set everything up for us and took great care of my husband and me. I could not recommend them enough! -

Our experience working with Billy was wonderful! We had a small "micro wedding" recently, and Billy treated it just as he would a huge event. He communicated with us very well and worked with us on every detail. He adjusted the menu for dietary restrictions. The food was excellent, and the staff was very responsive. I own a wedding venue (The Barn at Black Walnut Farm in Saugerties), and because we don't offer in-house catering, we rely on outside catering businesses to provide the food for our events. As you can imagine, a couple's choice of caterer can make or break a wedding-- and we have seen it all; the good, the bad, and the ugly...
That said, we were all simply blown away by Spice Catering's team, service, and food! Honestly the service was flawless and probably the best we have seen at our venue-- Erick the Maitre D' was nothing less than a true pro and really impressed us all! Kate at the bar is amazing, and every team member we got to interact with had the best attitude. And, to top it off, Chef Billy's food was phenomenal.
After the event was over, I learned that the crew unfortunately had a faulty oven rental that needed to be switched out mid-event, so I was even more impressed that they pulled it off so seamlessly! The logistics of providing offsite catering can be a challenge-- and knowing that Spice Catering has mastered this makes me so confident in recommending them to all of our couples.
Bravo, Spice Catering team, we can't wait to have you back at our venue again soon! -

Billy Turner, Director of Sugar and Spice Catering promised a beautiful event and did he/they deliver!! His staff took care of everything. The food was absolutely delicious, my guests really enjoyed everything. During the planning phase, the menu selection was so extensive that I could not decide. Billy just said to pick out what I like, and he planned a beautiful menu that was affordable and perfect for my event. My guests have not stop talking about the food, especially the short ribs as well as the avocado/crab cone
His assistant, Leanne did a wonderful job with room decor and arrangement, as well as managing the event. His team was incredibly gracious and kind. Finally, if you are a "nervous nelly" like me, you will appreciate Billy's calm, reassuring and patient attitude. I highly recommend this caterer. -

Best Catering Experience
I cannot recommend Sugar and Spice highly enough. They were so flexible and helpful in making our dream a reality. Leann did multiple walkthroughs of the venue with us, coordinated all of the rentals, and made the day-of experience seamless. Our wedding was at a private home, so it was logistically challenging, but Leann and Billy handled it perfectly. The food was delicious, much better than standard wedding fare. We received so many compliments. Sugar and Spice is truly the best! -

I cannot even begin to express how wonderful Sugar & Spice was at our wedding. Billy was absolutely incredible from the first contact we had with him. He was easy to communicate with, caring, thoughtful, thorough, extremely flexible and made THE BEST food. He walked through our venue with us several times to make sure it had what we needed, supported us through some challenges with the venue, came a day early to coordinate rental delivery and set up and made sure my husband and I were fed and happy throughout the wedding weekend. All of the staff we interacted with at our wedding was so pleasant and professional and made sure we had what we needed. We were greeted immediately after our ceremony with each of our signature drinks and a tray of passed hors d'oeuvres just for us so we got to try all of our food. Our guests are still raving about the food from the day of and my husband and I are still raving about how wonderful Billy and his team were to work with. I want to have another event just to work with Billy and Sugar & Spice again. -

Absolutely Spectacular
Billy and his team were absolutely incredible. From my first phone call, to the day of the wedding, Billy and his team made everything absolutely amazing. They were so easy to work with. They put all of my worries and concerns to ease. They gave my now husband and I all of the confidence that everything would go perfectly and we were blown away. Everything was above and beyond our expectations.

Spice Catering came highly recommended to us by our venue and friends. We are SO glad we went with them. We had our wedding at Locust Grove Estates. Billy and his team were a well-oiled machine working there. They knew the venue in and out. They also knew what to recommend for us for the venue. The day of the wedding, Spice Catering ensured that we ate and that we always had drinks if we wanted them. They were flexible with us in determining if we keep the ceremony/cocktail hour inside/outside due to the weather forecast. They also had plenty of staff to greet guests as they entered and to serve our guests. Erick, our maître d', helped our day of coordinator set everything up, take everything down, and ensure the timeline was followed smoothly. Erick was amazing to work with and took the time to get to know my husband and I to best support us on our wedding day. Our guests complimented how delicious and hot the food was and mentioned it as a highlight of the wedding. We HIGHLY recommend Spice Catering. -

We had Sugar and Spice Cater our wedding at Locust Grove in May and it was the most perfect day. Leann, Billy, Kate and their staff took care of everything and I did not have to worry about anything on my wedding day. They were able to accomplish everything I wanted and are generally such great people. They really care and love their jobs. The food was amazing and we received so many compliments about the food and how beautifully everything was decorated. It was all the little details they were able to accomplish which made the day perfect! Locust Grove essentially provides the location, kitchen and tables and chairs for a wedding. Therefore, the price of everything from Sugar and Spice was reasonable since they provide a Maitre d', staff, organize any rental equipment and work with your vendors, do the decorating, set up, clean up, serving and preparing of appetizers, dinner, dessert, bar and any other wedding needs I had that they could accomplish. I would definitely recommend Sugar and Spice for anyone looking for a caterer for their wedding especially at Locust Grove and if they want to have no stress day! -

Sugar and Spice went above and beyond my wedding. From day one, I'm sure I was annoying with all of my requests. My siblings own a bar, I own a bakery so there were a lot of things I wanted them to adjust for me. Right off the bat, they were more than willing to do anything I requested, one of them being to have my siblings supply the bar service. Yeah, I thought it was a great idea, and Billy, Kate and Leann were ready to help in any way, giving advice on how to do it, you know, since they are literally the experts. We quickly started to realized we were in over our heads. 3 months before the wedding I panic emailed Billy and asked if they could still do the bar, and he and Kate worked their magic and got us the bar we wanted, with the specialty drinks we wanted, and the specialty alcohol we wanted, all with a great price and an amazing attitude. BUT that's not even the best part about Sugar and Spice.
When my husband and I went for our tasting, we were absolutely blown away. Everything was AMAZING. I don't like fish, but we wanted to offer it at the wedding, so I had to try it, and I even liked it!! I also have a few vegans in my family, and Billy was so prepared for that, it tasted so good. The chicken and steak were OUT OF THIS WORLD. We did not expect the food to be this amazing at the wedding since we are just 2 people and the wedding was 150 people.... we were SO wrong. The food was just as good, if not better! Everyone was raving about how the food was hot, fresh, flavorful and cooked to perfection. And I'll have you know, it was a torrential downpour, they were cooking under a tent outside with a portable kitchen, the buses were over an hour late, so all of the events were now also an hour late! I mean, come on, how is that even possible!! Absolutely so impressed. To top it all off, we had ordered so many cocktail hour food items, and everyone was raving about everything! Mac and Cheese Station, Sliders, Soup Shooters, and so much more! I could go on forever about the food, but I promise, you will never be disappointed!!! Billy has some serious talent.
Now on to the background planning. Billy and Leann were so great in this department. They were there with us through every step with all the advice we could need and all of the assistance they could give. I said I wanted to make and decorate my own cake, they said sure just let us know flavors and size. I said we make our own coffee and would love to serve it, and they just told us how to they needed it ground. I said I wanted to create my own centerpieces and they said make up a prototype and have everything in a box and we will recreate it on all of the tables. They went so above and beyond. I honestly couldn't be any happier with the way they made my wedding turn out. The day before the wedding, I was feeling so overwhelmed with all of the tasks that needed to be done, and when Billy and Leann showed up at the venue, it felt like they washed away all of my stress, and gave so much assurance that they had this under control. And they did. Wonderful people, wonderful company, highly recommend!! -

You & your team made magic happen at our wedding. Every little thing was perfect & I can’t tell you how many of our guests raved about the dinner, insanely gorgeous charcuterie board, passed apps & drinks!!!! Also, the professionalism & details displayed by your team was unmatched.

You will want to hire them to cater your event
Billy, Leann, and staff were amazing! They were really flexible and wanted to make sure my event was customized to my liking. They are super easy to communicate with from the start to the wedding day. We received many many compliments from guests on the creative dishes, taste and quality of food. The bar service was also excellent. You will not regret hiring Billy's team to cater your wedding (or any event). They also provided a day of coordinator that helped with setup, timing, etc. It was a very helpful service. -

We had only 6 months to plan our wedding, and we are both older with pretty high expectations around food and event planning. My husband and I both run companies that require us to host large events, so we know what a successful event looks like. Sugar & Spice far exceeded our expectations. Billy was super kind, flexible, experienced, and the first person on site the morning of our wedding, and the last to leave at night. He had eyes on everything and our guests RAVED about the food and the service. Leann organized the day with incredible expertise, looking out for every details and guiding us through the planning and execution of every step. No need to hire a wedding planner when you work with Sugar and Spice because they truly think of every detail from flowers to photographer, DJ and wedding ceremony flow. They also make sure the bride and groom are nourished and taken care of throughout the day. Some of our guests told us the food and service made this the best wedding they have every been to!! -

Billy and the team at Spice Catering are the best! They made our guests actually enjoy wedding food, and we still hear “your food at the wedding was fanatastic” to this day. Even with the multiple food allergies and dietary restrictions, Billy and the team were knowledgeable and made our guests feel welcome. We had such a good time (so much that we wiped out the open bar twice) and the Spice Catering team was a key part of that. The signature drink options were great and the fall menu selections tasted amazing (especially the short rib and the butternut squash ravioli). -

We sought out Sugar and Spice catering because they came highly recommended and we wanted the food to be more than just good. We ended up being blown away. Billy was super responsive and kind to us right away and was able to answer all our questions and set us up with a nice tasting.
After that he told us to relax and that he'd reach back out to us when he needed us and a few months later he did. He went over all our food choices with us and did a walkthrough with us at the Venue.
He was even really accommodating when we asked to make a slight change at the last minute. The food was incredible. All of our guests commented on how good it was and we heard no complaints at all. Our maitre d, Brandon, was awesome and the whole staff treated us like royalty all day. Everyone was so polite and accommodating. We really cared about the passed hors d'oeuvres and each one was delicious!
We highly recommend Sugar and Spice Catering, they are well worth the money and made the entire experience easy and enjoyable. -

Our experience for our wedding was absolutely incredible. Billy was there from the very beginning until the very end to make sure that everything went perfectly. Sugar & Spice was an amazing caterer for our wedding with great food and even better service. Each meeting with them leading to the wedding gave us more and more comfort that we were in good hands. Sugar and Spice Catering TRULY WENT ABOVE AND BEYOND!
"BEST WEDDING FOOD I"VE EVER HAD" - When you hire Billy and his team, this is all you will hear about! We had guests that were Culinary Institute of America trained chefs, own their own restaurants and/or are foodies - ALL agree that our wedding was the best food they had ever had. Even a month after the event every conversation I have with guests starts with "THE FOOD" - from the tuna cones, sesame noodles, lamb chops, prosciutto wrapped chicken... I am so grateful that Sugar and Spice made so many people happy on our wedding day!
HIGHEST QUALITY SERVICE + STAFFING: It was the hottest day of Summer 2022, and I was very stressed about having a 'perfect day' after moving my wedding date 3 times. I agonized over creating my ceremony programs - and asked that the venue staff instruct the groomsmen to hand them to guests... but everyone forgot . I learned that the Sugar and Spice caterers proactively saw the piles of programs and took it upon themselves to hand out to my friends and family. I cried tears of happiness on our wedding night hearing the stories from our guests about the multiple ways the catering staff saved the day. Other examples included monitoring/fixing generators so our fans would work, meticulous attention to allergens/special requests, special runs for emergency items such as diet coke for the bride's uncle, the list goes on.
RESPONSIVE, PROFESSIONAL, FUN - My guests speak so highly about their interactions with your team - I often hear about the fun bartender, cheery servers, and masterful chefs than my guest-to-guest interactions. Everyone went above and beyond, it was felt, celebrated, and cherished! I am tearing up now writing this - My husband and I are extremely grateful for their efforts - knowing that Billy, his amazing wife, chefs, cooks, bartenders, etc were ON IT! Above and beyond performance that we can't recommend Sugar and Spice Catering highly enough! -

Wedding planning was very scary. Billy and Brandon put our fears to the side and assured us they would take care of our special day! All our friends and family came up to us at the wedding and could not stop raving about how awesome and special the wedding was! Their food was delicious and their waitstaff amazed our guests with their hospitality. 10/10 recommend.

Spice Catering is a wedding dream come true. Billy, Brandon and the entire Spice Catering team are diligent, detail oriented, and we’re truly invested in making sure our day went perfectly - and it did! From Day 1 Billy treated us like family. I called him all the way back in September 2020, almost a full 2 years (COVID engagement) before our actual wedding day. The moment we talked through my vision I knew I was working with an expert in the craft, and the kindest human being. These two things kept things moving and warmed our hearts through what can be a stressful process again and again.
In the weeks leading up to the wedding we worked more and more with Brandon who is an absolutely super hero of a human. Brandon is organized, has fantastic communication skills, and works to get every last detail from the timing to the decorations to the people movement absolutely perfect. People kept telling me “be prepared for things to go wrong” but you know what, they DIDN’T. The Spice team works tirelessly to keep people’s glasses full, their appetizers bottomless, and the timeline flawless.
If you’re on the fence, do yourself the favor to just sign with Spice. A direct quote from one of our guests was “there are good weddings, and there are excellent weddings, but this wedding might be one of the best ones I’ve been to.” -

We really wanted to prioritize good food in out wedding and our guests were very particular about their food and they all loved it. They put so much time and effort in doing our decorations and kept everything organized. The service was amazing, too. -

Sugar and spice catering is nothing short of remarkable. Over a week after our wedding I still have friends and relatives raving about the food and many saying it was the best food at a wedding they have ever had (and I agree with them). Working with Billy is amazing as you really feel that he is there for you throughout the whole process. He would constantly check in to see if we need anything and worked with us to design an unforgettable menu. Any issues that arose were dealt with swiftly by their team and all of the staff there on the day of the event were kind and helpful. Additionally, their prices were more than reasonable allowing for us to add extras and still stay below competitors' prices. They really go the extra mile and make you feel like your wedding is the only wedding they will ever work on. Can not recommend it enough to anyone getting married or having an event in the Hudson Valley! -

Director Billy Turner and maître d' Brandon Opitz made for a memorable and well-prepared event. They helped us navigate solutions during the lead up to our event and made for a streamlined experience during. Spice Catering is reasonably affordable, but not the cheapest option. If you hire them, you are paying for food that your guests will enjoy, remember, and talk about after the event, along with attentive service.
Given the opportunity, I would work with this vendor again, particularly on a high stakes event. -

Wedding 10/30/21 at Millbrook Winery
Spice Catering was phenomenal to work with from start to finish. We had a great experience and would work with them a million times over. Billy and Brandon were accommodating, flexible, and responsive. Billy actually reached out to us when he heard we were in need of a caterer from a friend and we are so glad he did! They were always available by phone, text and email to answer our many questions. We truly felt that they wanted to make our wedding day everything we’ve ever dreamed of. Brandon worked so hard to set up all of our decorations just as we wanted them. It rained the majority of the day before our ceremony. They were willing to make a game time decision and quickly set up for an outdoor ceremony when the weather cleared up. Our family and friends have been RAVING about their food since the event. There was not a single thing that they made for us that we didn’t like. Their staff were professional and hard working. We would not have been able to get through the wedding planning process without them. Thank you! -

Billy, Helene, and their team made our wedding week absolutely perfect. I know it's not recommended, but we hired S&S without doing a menu tasting as we lived across state, Covid, etc. From the first time we spoke to Billy we knew we were going to be in good hands, so we trusted him/our guts and signed a contract.
I am thrilled to say that everything was beyond amazing. We ended up booking Sugar & Spice for 3 separate meals throughout our wedding week. We heard nothing but fantastic feedback from our guests. The food was a hit (I'm looking at you Mexican street corn, short ribs, and wheat berry-kale salad), and the servers that were on-site were the loveliest of the loveliest. Billy created 3 very special and unique menus, and even went so far to accommodate certain requests such as Espresso Martinis with our wedding cake serving.
If you're thinking about hiring Sugar and Spice --- do it! -

We just had our wedding catered by Billy and his team on 9/27/20 and it was such a great experience. Sugar and Spice was recommended by our venue Kindred Creeks and I don't think we could have made a better choice. All of our guests were absolutely raving about the food which was PHENOMENAL. I think it goes unappreciated sometimes just how impressive it is to successfully cook for a large crowd and have the food still have the same quality it did at our tasting. What was even more important was that my husband and I felt so well cared for the entire evening by the staff. There wasn't a time where we both were not attended to. Do yourself a favor and book them! -

Billy and Isabel are the best! The wedding was a dream and the food was GREAT. Every one of my guests said the same, it was the best reception food they’ve had! Your staff and team made it such a stress free, easy day and we were more than pleased. They not only made great food, but the presentation was amazing and lended a helping hand with decorating. Whenever I needed advice on what to do to make the wedding a little more fun or bearable on such a hot day (having never planned a wedding) they answered every question with no problem. Any issue that came they solved it making sure that I had no stress the day of. Thanks to you guys it was more than we could have asked for!

Billy and his team were absolutely incredible. From start to finish. I still remember going to their cafe in Poughkeepsie to try out their food. They were professional, sweet, and responsive. To say that Sugar & Spice Catering were excellent would be an understatement. S&S's level of professionalism, friendliness, helpfulness were off the charts. In addition to that, their food is DELICIOUS, and they very willingly go above and beyond for their clients. We were so appreciative that we had them on our side and in our corner through everything. Arranging a micro wedding during the COVID pandemic was definitely different and stressful, but they helped us through it all with their expert guidance.
