We could not have been more thrilled with Steamers and the exceptional service provided by Chef Chris, Cassidy, and the entire Steamers staff. From start to finish, they delivered an unforgettable experience that our guests are still raving about.

We first came in for a tasting, and Chef Chris blew us away with his flavors and attention to detail. He was able to modify anything we requested to perfectly suit our preferences, ensuring the menu was exactly what we wanted. One standout was the bruschetta trio—and the shrimp bruschetta was absolutely incredible! I’m still dreaming about it. The entire tasting set the tone for what turned out to be the best wedding food we could have ever imagined.

The food at our wedding was beyond amazing—literally the best wedding food ever. The hors d'oeuvres were to die for, and the raw bar was a must-have that elevated the entire evening to another level. Our guests couldn’t stop talking about the hushpuppies, which were a huge hit and had people raving for days after the wedding! Every dish was thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented, making our wedding meal unforgettable.

But what truly set Steamers apart was the service. Cassidy, her husband (who was our bartender), and the entire team provided some of the best service we have ever received. Having been in the service industry for over ten years, I was absolutely blown away by the professionalism, warmth, and attention to detail they brought to the event. They were attentive, efficient, and made every guest feel special, ensuring everything ran smoothly throughout the night. We are unbelievably grateful to them all—working with them was one of the true highlights of our wedding.

If you’re looking for a caterer that not only delivers incredible food but also provides impeccable service, Steamers is the one. Chef Chris’s talent and the entire team’s dedication made our wedding day so special, and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Exceptional Staff and Phenomenal Food!

Words could never describe our flawless experience with Steamers. From our first call with Cassidy, I was sure Steamers was the perfect fit for my husband and I. Cassidy made sure to get us in for a tasting while visit OBX for family vacation. We were able to take my brother and sister-in-law along, making it such a fun experience! Cassidy's recommendations during the tasting was exactly what we went forward with for our menu (Don't sleep on the Hummus!!!!). Cassidy stayed in touch leading up to our wedding, and was able to accommodate all of my requests. She spelled out each detail so I knew what to expect the day of. I felt so comfortable letting go of control knowing she was there to handle it all! She even hand delivered us food while taking photos during cocktail hour!

I am blessed to say EVERY guest absolutely raved about the food and drinks. From cocktail hour to dinner, the food was outstanding and everyone was thrilled their dinners were actually still hot by the time they were served!! Service was quick and seamless. The bartender was amazing, and we never had a line at the bar! Everyone loved their cocktails as well.

We are beyond grateful for the Steamers team and their hospitality. They really took care of us and made sure to relieve as much stress as they could for us. We are lifelong customers and would be thrilled to have them cater any future OBX event!

Our Wedding Experience

We had Steamers Catering for our wedding and they were amazing! From start to finish, everything was absolutely incredible. The food was delicious full of flavor, and served perfectly.

What truly made the experience unforgettable was the professionalism, kindness, and attention to detail from the entire team. They made everything feel seamless and stress-free, allowing us to fully enjoy our special day knowing everything was in great hands. The staff went above and beyond to make sure we always had a drink in hand and actually took the time to make sure the bride and groom were fed throughout the night.

Lastly, a very special thank you to Cassidy, who helped plan everything behind the scenes leading up to the wedding and on the day itself. She did an amazing job coordinating everything and made the entire experience feel effortless and organized. We are so grateful for all of her hard work and support!

Wedding Reception

We hired Steamers catering for our wedding and they were fantastic to work with. Cassidy made it a point to have regular check-ins with me prior to the event, which a made for a seamless execution. The staff were amazing and they did a beautiful job setting up and managing the buffet service. On top of it all, the food was also delicious. I would highly recommend them.

Incredible Experience!

The food from Steamer’s was absolutely unbelievable, and our guests are still talking about it. The wait staff was fantastic, and the bartenders went above and beyond—always keeping an eye out for us and having our drinks ready before we even reached the bar. Cassidy, the Catering Sales Manager, was incredibly knowledgeable, accommodating, and communicative, even as we made several menu changes along the way. We used Steamer’s for four days of events and truly could not have been happier with our decision.

The Best Wedding Caterer

We cannot say enough amazing things about Cassidy, Chef Chris & the ENTIRE Steamers team. From our initial call with Cassidy she made us feel so comfortable. She walked us through the menu more times than we can count, hosted us for TWO tastings and eased all my worries when we had a few last minute cancellations and changes. They understood and accommodated ALL of our guests allergies and food restrictions. The Steamers team even went out of their way to offer non-alcoholic toast options for our guests. The presentation of the food was BREATHTAKING, every bite was divine. Our guests are still raving about the food, and we had countless people tell us this was the best food they had at a wedding (we had a lot of picky eaters so this is a very high compliment). You can tell that the Steamers leadership team treats their employees well and that shines through in their service. We would recommend Steamers to anyone who is looking for the best catering team in OBX.

Best Caterer Ever

In my job, I have used dozens of caterers over the past 30+ years. Steamers out performed every caterer I have ever used. They were professional, cheerful, helpful and my guests are still talking about the delicious food. I would hire them again and I will be enjoying the restaurant as well.

Incredible Food and Exceptional Service Made Our Wedding Day Unforgettable!

My main concern when I dreamed about my wedding day, from someone who came from a very culinary-focused family, was always the food. I needed the food to be out of this world. I wanted my guests to talk about the best meal they ever had at a wedding for years to come. I truly believe Steamers made that happen for us. The menu selection was huge, with tons of variety to choose from, and Cassidy and the team at Steamers made it easy to customize it exactly to our specifications. The food itself was to die for – perfectly cooked fish, creamy rich sauces, crisp fresh salads – not a single dish was lacking in flavor, freshness or presentation. The staff was incredibly skilled as well – they served our guests family style at the table, describing the dishes as they came out and answering guest’s questions. They pointed guests to dishes that worked with their dietary restrictions and even prepared separate allergy meals for individual guests with more serious food concerns. How the bartender kept up with our huge, very thirsty family we have no idea – but they did so without there ever being a line or even a brief wait for drinks. Absolutely incredible down to every detail. Thank you Steamers – your food and your 5-star skills and service made our wedding day a literal dream come true! PS, my 11-year-old nephew would like you to know that “I’ve never said this before…but that mac and cheese was even better than Kraft!”.

Wedding caterer

Steamers did an amazing job at my OBX event home wedding. Everyone was SO nice and the food was incredible. They were professional, timely, clean, and nice to everyone. The service was top notch and they didn’t miss a beat. The bar tenders were also fantastic and quick. Cassidy is very organized and knowledgeable. I highly recommend steamers for any catering event!

Steamers is the best!

Steamers as our caterer was probably one of the easiest choices we made for our wedding. Chris and his team had impeccable service and the food is still being spoken about by our guests. Everything was so fantastic! Highly recommend the beef barria and mac, as well as a hush puppy and sangria station! Cassidy was also fantastic to work with - very responsive and made it so I had absolutely nothing to worry about for food and drink on the day of our wedding.

Excellent experience with Steamers catering for wedding

We had an excellent experience with Steamers Catering for our daughter's wedding in May 2025. From our initial phone inquiry and throughout the planning process, Chef Braswell and catering manager Cassidy Fowler couldn't have been more helpful or professional. They were very responsive to every question and request for information. Cassidy is incredibly organized! Every time I asked to change or substitute something, her answer was: Yes, that's no problem at all.

When we went for the tasting, we knew we had made the perfect choice in Steamers. The food was absolutely delicious and we created fabulous menu featuring a mixed grill so our guests could enjoy several local treats. They completely customized the bar offerings, accomodating our desire to feature local spirits, wine and beer.

We also had Steamers cater our welcome wine and cheese party and the charcuterie displays Chef Braswell made were gorgeous and had a huge variety of local/artisinal meats and cheeses.

Our guests raved about the food and excellent service during the reception. Steamers even thoughtfully packed up all the leftovers and we were able to enjoy another delicious meal the next day.

I had very high expectations and was quite particular about the food and drink for our daughter's wedding. Steamers exceeded every expectation and was an absolute pleasure to work with. I highly and unreservedly recommend Steamers Catering.

Weekend of Fabulous Food

Steamers catered our destination Welcome Party and my son's Wedding for approximately 70 guests each night. The process leading up to our events was handled by Cassidy who was delightful, helpful and always responsive. The food buffet the night before was delicious and presented well. The staff at both events were the best I've ever seen and I've seen plenty as a recently retired professional of 40 years in the event/wedding business. They were friendly, efficient and always around to help and serve. I would highly recommend this catering company for any size event. Can't say enough about the quality of the food and especially their staff. Thank you Steamers!

Best food… ever

From the moment I met this team, I felt like a celebrity — all thanks to Cassidy (our incredible menu planner) She went above and beyond in every way, and I honestly wish I could relive every moment with her again and again. She was very attentive and communicative from day 1. Cassidy- you’re truly AMAZING!!!!

We got to meet Chef Chris- His passion for food is unmatched. It was my dream to have amazing food at our wedding, and he delivered beyond expectations. 55th Birthday Party

I was not planning a wedding but a milestone birthday party. The Catering Sales Manager, Cassidy, was patient, kind, and very knowledgeable about hosting events in OBX. Cassidy helped me create a menu and kept me in the loop about what the Chef could prepare. On the day of the event all the Steamers team members were extremely helpful and flexible with setup, presentation, service and cleanup. I am so thankful that I selected Steamers to cater my event. Oh and the food was fabulous! My family and friends could not stop talking about all the deliciousness! Steamers did not disappoint! Thank you!

Schiavone Wedding

From the very 1st time we met Chris at the food tasting, he listened to our requests, he designed a perfect menu and delivered on everything he promised. We hired steamers to cater our Welcome party with their food truck as well as our Wedding day. Both events had very different menus and every bite was better than the next. Chris and the entire team were absolutely spectacular. The food was out of this world and I’m dying for the quinoa salad recipe. I tried everything (even the items I “don’t like”) and I LOVED them all!! Our guests are still talking about the food and how amazing it was.

We couldn’t have asked for better food and service. They truly went above and beyond to exceed our expectations. I want to send an extra THANK YOU to your bartender, Will. He was attentive and our guest couldn’t believe he remembered their drinks from The casino night to the wedding day. Those little details make a world of difference and we thank you!!!

Corolla Wedding Experience

Within minutes of sitting down for our food tasting at Steamers, my fiance and I knew we wanted them as our caterer for our wedding. From that tasting to the cocktail tasting and just having the opportunity to chat with the owner, Chris, we knew we'd be taken care of. The best experience!

Chris and the rest of steamers were absolutely amazing! Their food is delicious and the service was better than I ever could have asked for! They were so flexible and patient with us as we planned our wedding in the Outer Banks from PA over a 2 1/2 year time span. They made this part of wedding planning so easy and no stress! Best Caterer in the Outer Banks!

Chris and the staff at Steamers went above and beyond for our wedding in Corolla, NC. From the moment we booked them they were so responsive and attentive to detail. The tasting was delicious and we were able to craft our seated meal as well as cocktail hour around their delicious food. Everyone at the wedding commented on how it was the best meal they have ever had at a wedding let alone the best meal they have had from a restaurant/caterer. They provided excellent service which not only included the food but also the bartending services. There is no one else I would recommend other than Steamers Catering for your wedding. 5 stars is not enough to describe how great they are!

Amazing Food, Thoughtful Service

All of our wedding guests said: “Normally wedding food isn’t that good, but that food was AMAZING!” We did a tasting with Steamers and another local caterer, and the choice was obvious from the start. We chose a mixed grill plate with steak and salmon, and it was a definite crowd pleaser. Everyone also loved the oyster bar, cocktails, and sangria. Chris personalized our menu and tasting experience to ensure that we had everything we wanted. (Thank you, Chris, for the peach salad and peach margarita!) He and his team at Steamers really go above beyond! On our wedding day, he brought me a plate from the raw bar since I didn’t get to taste it at cocktail hour, and also ensured that the groom had the exact cocktail he wanted. Those thoughtful, simple details are the one at that I cherish most. The entire Steamers staff is friendly and helpful, and we thoroughly enjoyed working with them.

Book Steamers for your wedding day and you won't be sorry! We had the absolute best experience with Chris and his team from start to finish. They gave an amazing complimentary tasting (complete with Sangria - they sent us home with the leftovers!) and were flexible, kind, and responsive to work with us leading up to our special day. Their customer service is second to none and they are extremely reliable and professional. They send a full team on your wedding day to ensure everything runs more than smoothly. Our guests were raving about the food quality and service. We loved that it was authentic OBX cuisine made from fresh, local ingredients so our guests (all of which who traveled far) could have the true OBX experience! Chris and his staff are definitely leaders in the Outer Banks Catering industry!

From the initial client tasting, Chef Chris and Catering Manager, Yani, took time to welcome the couple and mother of the bride with a formally introduction and thanked them for choosing Steamers to caterer their wedding day reception. The client tasting was delicious, and their presentation gave the client a glimpse of the service they would receive on the day of their event. Upon conclusion of the tasting, Chef Chris and Yani took the time to stop by and receive the couple’s feedback and expectation of their event. Chris and Yani were wonderful; very responsive and thorough, answering any questions that arose and attended to details throughout the planning process even accommodating last-minute vegan requests. With 20+ years in the business as event planners, we can say with complete confidence “Steamers is a true full-service catering company”. From the moment they arrived onsite at Whalehead historic property, they were flawless in their execution. Steamer’s entire staff day-of worked hard and greeted everyone with a smile. We all worked together as one event team to ensure a beautiful successful event for the client and their guests. The buffet service and guest lines moved quickly; they kept the food hot and delicious while maintaining the cleanliness of the buffet area. Tables were cleared throughout the night and they worked alongside our planning team to keep the reception space beautiful and refreshed. Delicious Food and Exceptional Service

Chris and the Steamers team are just incredible! We had eaten at steamers many times over the years and we didn’t really consider any other caterer for our wedding because we knew their food is delicious and their service is great. We met with Chris many several times over the 1-2 years before our wedding. The complimentary tasting is very helpful as we sat down with Chris and went over not only the whole menu but also logistical aspects. It is apparent that Chris has been in the wedding catering business for a good while as he had many tips and pieces of advice for the layout/flow of eating considering our venue and guest count. As an added reassurance, they only book one wedding/weekend so they will have your undivided attention that weekend! Throughout the planning process he was responsive and extremely accommodating and flexible. With Chris’s help, we decided to do buffet style as that would work best with our guest count. He knew how many buffets we should have for the # of guests which helped so much with the flow. They brought my husband and I a full plate of food so that we did not have to serve ourselves. The food was DELICIOUS!!!

To summarize, Steamers exceeded every expectation we had. Thank you Chris!!!

The best food!!!

We hired Steamers to cater our wedding last year & let me just say, the food was *chef kiss*. I’m very picky when it comes to food because I love me some good food & Chris + his team were A. Amazing food from Amazing people!

Chris and the team at Steamers made planning our wedding menu so easy! They were extremely flexible with our menu selections and everyone raved about how delicious the food was at our wedding. We enjoyed working with Chris so much that we booked Steamers for our rehearsal dinner as well and they were able to create an entirely different menu from our wedding menu which was great! I would HIGHLY recommend Steamers for your next event, or even for a nice romantic dinner while you’re in the Outer Banks. Not only is the food fantastic but all of the staff are so incredibly nice and personable as well !

Steamers is A+

Chris and the entire Steamers team are incredible! Our whole experience from the tasting, to the menu planning, to the actual food, to the service were 10 out of 10. Chris was professional, friendly, and so helpful. He catered our pool party (in lieu of a rehearsal dinner) where we had Steamers pots full of crab legs, shrimp, corn, and the works plus a gourmet BBQ. The presentation and service were excellent and everyone raved about the food. The morning of our pool party, there was a massive water main break outside of his restaurant, but he stayed cool, calm, and collected when he called and assured me that he had Plans B and C ready to go in case Plan A became an issue. Luckily, there was no need and everything went as planned, but I was grateful for his communication and professionalism. On our wedding day, Chris' team was excellent. The food was SO GOOD. I highly recommend his seafood bisque, skirt steak, and BBQ sliders. He also was happy to fulfill this New York girl's request for late night bacon, egg, and cheeses and they were a huge hit with our guests. I highly recommend you look no further than Steamers!!!

Steamers was amazing!

We used steamers for our welcome rehearsal dinner as well as our reception and they were phenomenal. Chris and his staff were so helpful. They made sure my husband and I ate during cocktail hour by bringing food to us and were always checking in to see if we wanted anything to drink or eat. Plus the food was amazing. I can’t thank them enough for making the weekend so great.

Best Food Ever!!

We hired Steamers for both our rehearsal bunch and our wedding catering and they were amazing!! We had to move our wedding as many other couples because of COVID and they were extremely flexible with and responsive as we had to not only move the date but also the venue. We did a tasting with Chris (the owner) before we officially decided to book with them and they truly went above and beyond. The rehearsal dinner was incredible as was all of the food on the night of our wedding. Our guests all raved about the food and we would recommend them to anyone getting married!!

August Wedding 2021

Steamers service was phenomenal. They arrived on time at the venue and began setting up. We did buffet style and hired 2 bartenders. They had plenty of staff on site. The was they set up the buffet table and decor was simple and perfect. All the food was amazing. They served good portions to each guest. We had a lot left over, and they boxed up all the leftover food and dessert for us. We are so glad we picked Steamers four our wedding.

Delicious & incredibly helpful

Steamers was amazing! Chris and his whole team were so accommodating and helpful in the whole process leading up to the wedding and on the day of. Chris has so much passion for what he is doing and his food tastes astonishingly delicious. He genuinely cares about his clients and he helped us figure out the perfect menu and drinks for the bar package. His staff went out of their way on the day of to make sure that we were fed and taken care of, including bringing us appetizers during one of our short breaks since we missed cocktail hour for pictures. Absolutely was the perfect caterer for our wedding and we would 100% hire them again.

Those Beef skewers!!

Let me just say Chris so wonderful TRUST HIM at every moment you need him! He helped me plan my time line * not that type of bride for sure* and he made sure that everything was handle properly the day of I loved that the food was being cooked right there in the food truck and it was fresh for my family to enjoy *me to enjoy around 3am when i needed snacks ;) the staff was wonderful they helped so much! top notch I cannot wait to visit them again just for those Korean beef Skewers I COULD JUST EAT THE SAUCE!

Great food and drinks! 100% Recommend

For our wedding we got a full service bar and stations. The food was great, especially the raw oyster bar which all of our guests were raving about! Steamers has 2 signature sangrias which were AMAZING! Overall Chris and the service that Steamers provided was very professional and flexible. We had a pretty large backyard wedding with about 136 people and there was more than enough provided. Definitely recommend to anyone getting married in the OBX area!

Incredible Food and Service

Steamers is absolutely amazing. I have been vacationing in the Outer Banks my entire life and I never knew about Steamers until they reached out to me for a free tasting when my fiancé (now husband) and I were looking for a caterer for our beach wedding. Chris (co-owner and head chef) provided us such an outstanding assortment of menu options - appetizer, main course, sides, etc. for both seafood and non-seafood lovers. The food was absolutely incredible! Steamers instantly became my favorite restaurant on the island and we've been back countless times since our wedding tasting in February 2020.
Chris was very helpful, responsive, and flexible throughout all the craziness of wedding planning during a pandemic. Our original wedding guest count was 100 at Jennette's Pier. As we entered into the winter months of 2021 and hoped and prayed for a "normal" April wedding, Chris was always an email or phone call away as we asked tons of questions and if various venues would work for his team (we were unsure if we would be able to hold the wedding at the pier due to immense restrictions). He was ready for any scenario; he even said he would bring his food truck if we ended up just having the wedding at the beach house we rented or use the kitchen there. Luckily, in the few weeks leading up to the wedding, we were able to have the wedding at the pier, but with half the guest count. Chris was completely accommodating and event allowed us to change menu options until just a few weeks before.
They say the bride and groom don't get to eat at their own wedding. I made sure that wasn't the case for my husband and I because we genuinely love Steamers so much and we are so happy we were able to share this incredible meal with our closest friends and family. Our wedding guests STILL rave about the fantastic food and service Steamers provided us. For our appetizers, we had bacon wrapped shrimp and scallops, BBQ tostadas, and the bruschetta trio. We had a plated Caesar salad, and the main course was honey bourbon salmon (my favorite!!), crab cake, and steak, along with rice and vegetables. I really appreciated their method of plated meals - you do not need to ask guests in advance of their menu choice (which saves a lot of time on the bride and groom's end!). They plan for each guest to have a sample of all choices, and then if there are some guests who do not want certain items (for example, my sister cannot eat seafood, so she had a larger portion of steak instead of the other seafood options), they are happy to accommodate. We even had one vegetarian, and Steamers made sure he was well fed!
At the end of the night, they packed up all the remaining food and my husband and I had dinner for three nights :)

Thank you, Steamers, for such an incredible experience on our wedding day. We truly appreciate your team, and we will continuously return to the restaurant when we are in town!

Great food, professional execution!

We worked with Chris and his team for months leading up to our wedding. They were very responsive and helpful as we were traveling from out of town for our big day. We were able to conduct a tasting before making our decision, but they made that easy as the food was absolutely delicious. I would HIGHLY recommend Steamers for ANY type of event, but especially for a wedding!

Steamers catered our wedding at the Black Stallion in Corolla and Chris and Yoni were such a pleasure to work with! They modified their menu to meet our needs and they were INCREDIBLY flexible with us in terms of the format on how the dinner would be served. I chose not to have a wedding coordinator, and they met with me beforehand to discuss timelines and all my wishes and they also helped make sure that the night flowed smoothly and everything was setup as it needed to be. The best choice I made (I mean other than the man I married), was choosing Steamers as our caterer. Also...it is weeks later and people are STILL talking about how amazing the food was!

Delicious Food and Service

Our experience with Streamers Catering from beginning to end was wonderful. My husband and I planned to get married in OBX in May 2020; however due to Covid we had to postpone and replan everything for October 2020. We first met Chris at a Wedding Expo in January 2019 and we were immediately in love after trying the lobster bisque soup. Chris was always very responsive by email/phone and helped us plan the menu/schedule to best fit our small wedding. On the day of our wedding the reception didn't go as plan (due to inclement weather) but Chris and his team immediately went to setting up a back up plan for everyone to eat inside. His team even went above and beyond to bring appetizers to guest on the beach before the rain started. Every dish was delish and our wedding guest are still talking about it today. If you are getting married in OBX do yourself a favor and book Chris and his team, you will not regret it!

Love Steamers!

We ate at Steamers for the first time over the summer and everything was delicious! Back in September we set up a tasting for our wedding and all I can say is it was AMAZING. The appetizers, entrees and sides were all great, even the sangria :) Chris was awesome, very informative and helpful with other wedding questions, not just about the food! We have booked Steamers for our wedding in April and I can not wait to have them there with us!

Not your average wedding food! Chef Chris and his team were great to work with. Very friendly and accommodating! Things were so back and forth with our covid wedding and they were so kind and flexible! It made things so much smoother for us and we can't thank them enough! Stellar all around!

We planned our OBX wedding from NY , so choosing a caterer was slightly nerve racking as we were limited to one weekend of tastings to choose (not recommended tactic because you’ll want to eat everything And will be too full!) We knew right away Steamers plus Chris and his team were our choice. We had to postpone from May to Sept and Chris was responsive and understanding. He was familiar with our venue and planner which made it so easy! Fast forward to the wedding and our guests were beyond impressed. We got so much great feedback about how awesome and fresh the food was . We had a nice surf and turf mix which could be tricky for buffets style catering but everything was wonderful, no rubbery steak or fish here! The staff was great, appropriate Covid precautions, I could go on. You won’t regret it!!!!!! Thank you , Steamers!

Best. Caterer. Ever.

I have never met someone who is simultaneously so talented and so passionate about their job as Chris Braswell. We had set up a tasting but I got my times confused; despite it being a rushed expo weekend, Chris squeezed us in and spent almost an hour with us. He let us bring a party of five to the tasting and we were absolutely stuffed after. Everything was so good we could barely choose what to have on our wedding menu. Chris talked about length about the time and effort he puts into having quality, local, and seasonal ingredients. He pays and treats his staff well; both at the wedding and in the restaurant, you feel like you are getting a Michelin star experience. The contract was handled so well - he is so fair about pricing and upgrades. We added on the raw oyster bar and it was heavenly to have on the deck of Jennette's Pier.
At the wedding, he flawlessly accommodated vegetarian and gluten-free diets as well as allergies; he made sure that the bride and groom had a perfectly served plate of all the food so we didn't miss anything. I cannot recommend him enough. Seriously, our wedding guests still talk about the food a year later!

Unforgettable and delicious wedding food and service!!

Chris and his team at Steamers made our wedding an even more unforgettable experience than we could have imagined. Starting with the Wedding Expo the previous year, Chris made an instant impression for being personable and having a willingness to make our wedding dinner exactly what we wanted it to be. He invited us to Steamers a couple months after the Expo for a tasting while we were down in the OBX visiting with other vendors. When we told him both sets of parents and my brother would be with us, he insisted we bring them with us to the tasting. We were all on board when Chris brought out option after option for us to try. I told Chris that a family member had a serious whey allergy and couldn’t have anything that was dairy-based or came in contact with dairy. He simply said to have him talk to one of the crew the day of the wedding and they would make him a plate on a clean prep service to make sure he wouldn’t have an allergic reaction. Over the next year, we would drive down to the OBX to meet with different people and made sure to stop by Steamers for lunch or dinner; Chris would always come out to greet not only us but all his guests in the restaurant. He was very responsive via email when we had questions or had to submit our dinner options and payments. He helped put our minds at ease when it came to bar and table setups as well. When the wedding came, we both felt so confident that we wouldn’t have to worry about the food because he had everything well in hand. We chose the 3 appetizers, 3 entrees and 3 sides option and Chris made sure we got exactly what we wanted. The night went seamlessly and Chris was a big reason why. He and his team deserve all the credit in the world. Even months after the wedding, people still tell us how much fun they had and how insanely good the food was. A trip to the OBX isn’t complete without a stop by Steamers! Don't miss out on their seafood bisque or calabash shrimp - yum!

Five stars is not enough!!!

Chris and the Steamers team were absolutely fabulous to work with! We heard from SO many of our guests that they have never had better food at a wedding--and we couldn't agree more! My husband and I didn't even make it around to every table during dinner because we were so distracted by how good the food was! The Steamers team was professional and everyone's orders came out accurately. Steamers also provided our bartenders, and they were so talented! They could make any drink imaginable and engaged with our guests in a fun and professional way--everyone loved them! Finally, Chris and the Steamers team were so flexible and accommodating as we planned our wedding. I had plenty of questions, and each one was answered so quickly and thoroughly. Must use for OBX wedding

We could not be happier that we booked Steamers to cater our wedding in the Outer Banks! We had 3 nights catered ... Thursday (Halloween), Friday (Rehearsal Dinner), and Saturday (Wedding) - and we used Steamers for all 3.

We met Chris @ the Wedding Expo in January on 2019 and immediately knew we had to work with him. He worked with us all year to plan out 3 totally different nights and making the process so easy for us. We listened to his suggestions and he had fantastic advice about how to keep the party in the right locations of the venue (we got married at The Black Stallion), create the best flow, and keep everyone happy. He had worked at the venue many times and also with all our other vendors.

The food was incredible. Everyone kept commenting about it all weekend! Thursday night we did the "Welcome Party" for Halloween. Friday night we did the "Shrimp and Crab Feast" - which was a HUGE hit. Saturday we did gourmet stations. All of the food was different, and delicious!

Steamers runs an incredibly organized and professional operation and every employee is top notch. From Chris to the servers, bartenders, and other staff - we enjoyed being around everyone! Chris made sure to approach us at each event, make sure we were happy & fed and made sure everything was perfect.

I would recommend them a million times over!

Outstanding!

We hit a home run with Steamers. Chris guided us through the nuances of the reception and specifically the cocktail party-style reception we wanted. We felt like we were in expert hands and we absolutely were. Our guests raved about service and food and because we actually ate, we can attest to the deliciousness Steamers delivered. The chef sent us apps while we were taking pics and also made sure my gluten free groom had options throughout the night. The staff was super attentive and they came in and out so seamlessly, even during the Nor'easter we were in. That being said, they paused for about 20 minutes while we had our ceremony inside, and got right back into presenting food immediately without missing a beat. I would say to any bride and groom looking for amazing food and service within Steamers service area, they are the best of the best.

The BEST cater in OBX

I can not say enough amazing things about Chris and his team at Steamers. TRUST ME: You are making a huge mistake if you don't go with Steamers.

The qualities we were looking for in our wedding cater were:
1) Professionalism
2) Communication (since we were planning our wedding long-distance)
3) Quality of the food.

Steamers went above and beyond to meet all of these expectations throughout our entire wedding planning process. During our first tasting, Chris personally met with us to explain how his team handles weddings and how passionate he is about the food he makes. Communicating with him over the following year was timely and clear. We had scheduled a few phone calls where he spent about an hour helping us plan out our wedding day. Not only did he help guide us on what food options to pick, but he was also very knowledgable on the local event homes and processes that work best at each home.

The week of our wedding Chris and his event coordinator Nicole as well as Will, another head chef, met with us at our venue (the Black Stallion event home). They did a walk through with us and explained the way everything was going to work. Chris and his team were flexible, professional, and always had a positive attitude. We felt 100% confident in trusting our wedding to them.

The day of the wedding: The team showed up early to set up and prepare. Everyone was very professional and had a great attitude. I can not say enough about how fantastic the catering team was. We had asked to have a private cocktail hour after our photos, and Nicole had hors d'oeuvres and cocktails ready for us the moment we got back to the venue. Nicole, in particular, went ABOVE AND BEYOND on our wedding day even helping me bustle my dress when my bustle broke.

Food: I am drooling just remembering how good the food was on our wedding day. We loved that Chris was passionate about the food he made and that the ingredients in his cooking are sourced locally. EVERY SINGLE GUEST complimented us on the food at our wedding. Each person we spoke to stated that their food had been still hot when it reached them (guest count: 105). We had a mixed plate option of steak, salmon, and shrimp with a side of mashed potatoes and vegetables. Our guests complimented that the steak was soft and tender, the salmon light and flaky, and the fried shrimp were perfectly crispy. The food tasted so fresh and skillfully cooked. All the praise for the amazing food goes to our chef Will and everyone else that worked so hard to make our day perfect. I could go on and on about how amazing the food was.

Throughout the whole process, we feel that we made a new friend in Chris and we will be most definitely visiting Steamers for dinner every time we are in the Outer Banks.

Delicious food and outstanding service!

My husband and I booked Steamers to cater our wedding reception and we couldn't be happier with them. From the first email to Chris Braswell, we knew right away that they were different than other catering services here in the Outer Banks. He invited us in for a tasting and we were wowed by the personal attention, amazing expertise, and delicious food we experienced that night. Through the planning process for our wedding, Chris was phenomenal to work with. He was professional and prompt in all interactions and incredibly helpful when I would email questions. At the wedding reception, Steamers was a hit with all our guests. They raved and raved about how delicious the food was and by how courteous and professional the service was. Months later and guests are still raving!!

From the start, my husband and I knew that Steamers was our first choice for caterer. Luckily, I have worked with Chris before and knew his high level of professionalism and attention to detail. Not only that, I simply cannot put into words how deliciously amazing his food was. From appetizers to salads to our main course. And I’m not the only one that thinks that... we got married a couple months ago and just last week another one of our guests commented on how delicious our meal was. Chris and his staff went above and beyond for us- and we could not be more grateful. Absolutely perfect

The food was amazing and service was impeccable! We had steamer pots, build-your-own tacos (fish, chicken, bbq pork), and chicken fingers and Mac and cheese. Plus there were salads and sides galore. Everyone was so happy and it was perfect.

Our guests are still talking about the food

We live in Boston, the bride is from Maryland, and we have family in North Carolina. Needless to say, we are pretty savvy and opinionated about our seafood and BBQ. We chose Steamer's after doing a free tasting with Chris when we booked a trip to OBX, and we were literally blown away by the quality. Chris brought us plate after plate of all that Steamer's could do... honestly it was some of, if not the best, seafood and BBQ that we'd ever had. Chris is incredibly passionate about his craft -- he takes pride in what he does and exudes his love of producing quality food and an experience for his customers. While we chose an out-of-the-box buffet option, Chris has a ton of creative ideas and flexibility to work with you on what you want to do. Chris also personally attends and manages every catering event he books. It was a no-brainer, no other caterer could possibly stack-up.

The food was incredible - we did a buffet, which worked well because we had a small wedding of 75. Chris personally served us at our table and pretty sure he said "Make sure you eat ALL of it!" Everything was on time and flowed flawlessly.

Our guests are still talking about how good the food was. We had many guests that visited Steamers' restaurant multiple times throughout our week at OBX. We ourselves ate there four times. We cannot recommend them enough and will be forever customers.

Amazing Food!

We hired Chris for a rehearsal BBQ prior to our wedding. The food was out of this world! He created a menu that was perfect us and he and his team did everything from start to finish with no stress on us! I would hire Chris again a heartbeat!

Beyond expectations

If i ever plan an event in the outer banks again, you can bet I’ll be calling Chris and his team for food. Every person i spoke to had nothing but rave reviews for every part of our meal, from the appetizers to the very end. I could go on about the seafood boil for days but the thing I’ve gotten the most compliments on was the seafood bisque tasting cups and hush puppies. People LOVED them!! Wow wow wow!

The Steamers team went above and beyond for our wedding festivities and we couldn't have been happier! We hired them for our rehearsal dinner/welcome party and our wedding, and I wish we could have hired them for the whole week! Chris absolutely killed it in the kitchen, the food was incredible (we barely had any leftovers!), and his team's service was out of this world.

We had a few guests with dietary restrictions and Chris went out of his way to prepare special dishes for them, separately from the rest of the food. It made our guests feel well taken care of and put us at ease, it's those little extras that really go a long way!

I have to give a special shout out to his assistant, Yani, who was exceptional - she went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed at all times. During cocktail hour, we were busy taking pictures obviously, so I asked for a plate of apps - she came all the way down to the beach in 30 mph winds to bring us crabcakes! She treated the entire wedding party with amazing attention!

couldn't of found a better place to cater our wedding

our experience with the Steamers team and Chris was AMAZING. Chris did such an amazing job making the menu work for us, made changes to accommodate me the picky Groom haha and more importantly made my now wife VERY HAPPY. The team made us feel like VIPs, better yet like friends, every time we came to visit or try some food. I can't recommend them more, they are a team you will not regret going with. They work with your budget and make you feel like your getting twice the amount of options then any other place, and the quality of the food was beyond our expectations.

One last thing, it might be small but to me it was such a big deal. They made sure to get us a taste of everything the night of the wedding. Whether it was having a plate of appatizers for us to try ready for grabbing during photos or after the cerimony, or setting aside one of each thing to insure we got what we wanted for dinner. Plus Chris and my wife surprised me with my own personal meal.

Steamers is one of the reasons our wedding was so truly an amazing experience. Please go and try it for your self. You will not only have an amazing time on one of the most important nights of your life , but you will also gain friends life long friends.

Definitely exceeded expectations!

Chris and his whole team were absolutely wonderful. Every member of his team was professional and attentive. It was wonderful to have such a great group of people be a part of our special day! They made everything flow perfect and really went above the call of duty. They made delicious catering look effortless in 90 degrees! The food was fantastic. It was all served at the perfect temperatures and tasted great! My guests were all able to enjoy their food at the same time even with the buffet. The seafood bisque was our favorite! We highly recommend the professionals from Steamers for any celebration or event!

We got married in OBX on 5-29-2018. As difficult as it is, planning a wedding from 600+ miles away, Chris made our experience amazing! He was very professional, and spoke with me numerous times over the phone and by email. He answered all of our questions and gave suggestions we didn't even think of! We got married at a rental house on the beach. Chris and his team showed up for our wedding and took over the kitchen to create a delicious meal for our guests! We had so many compliments on the food, it was more than we could ever ask for! I highly recommend Steamers Catering for any event in the OBX. I'm sure we will be back again - and definitely look forward to visiting the restaurant! We were impressed from the beginning to the end. Steamer’s and Chef Chris were the best wedding caterer that we could have asked for. From the moment we sat down with Chris at our tasting, we knew his delicious food was what we wanted to serve at our wedding. He was very flexible, helpful, and responsive through the entire planning process. And everything turned out great! Chris and team did an excellent job throughout the entire process. Always responsive and flexible by far one of our favorite vendors. Having been to weddings and tastings with friends I always feel like the food wedding day isnt as good as the tasting which I guess is to be expected when cooking for 150+ people. Steamers cooked everything fresh the day of and the quality met if not exceeded the tasting. Throughout the night we consistently had guests complimenting the food and service. Steamers was the most expensive of our quotes (also our favorite of the tastings) however the quality of the food and service (both leading up to and day of) made it worth every penny as we never had a single concern that it would turn out great!

Chris and his team at Steamers were so great to work with! We chose Steamers because they truly listened to what we wanted at our wedding and made it happen no matter what! Chris was responsive and helpful. He always ensured that everything was going to work out (even when we had very specific requests). They catered our rehearsal, wedding day and brunch the next morning. Everyone raved about the food the entire time (and not many people rave about wedding food!). The raw bar we added was a huge hit! The staff was so easy-going and fun on my wedding day as well! Chris truly cares about his clients and wants to make their day extra special for them and it shows through his food and his staff. Oh I can't say enough about every aspect of our event. Chris (and Chris!) along with all the team were amazing! originally I wanted the dinner on the beach but die to weather we had to move it inside. Even though it was close quarters as the guests we never noticed them through out the night. As an owner of a catering company I had high expectations and they blew it out of the water! All my guests have said it was the best meal of the week! I had to step out during set up and when I arrived back I was given a small dish (as I was starving!) and it was amazing, it was even more amazing an hour later. Our menu included everything we wanted, oh wait.... the deserts! Get the variety, you need them all!! Below is the Key Lime Cake. I'll add our dinner pictures once I get them!

We had Steamers cater our son's rehearsal dinner/welcome party last week. This was a "destination wedding" and the event took place in the busy event house. Steamers went above and beyond all expectations when they came into a chaotic environment and professionally assessed the options for set up and proceeded to organize our welcome party amid fifty or more guests. We used Steamers for our rehearsal dinner. We wanted to do something different and not just a sit down dinner so we used their “Welcome Party” option. Our guests LOVED it!! Not only was the food amazing, they loved being able to mingle and hang out with each other, and not even have to leave our beach house. We loved having several different dishes to choose from and the presentation was awesome. The service was also top notch. The guys worked so hard to make sure everything was perfect, left the kitchen spotless and were even accommodating for the food allergies we had. We 100% would recommend them!

We had a wedding on the beach in Corolla and had Steamers do the catering in the private house we had rented for the week. First, the planning was easy and working with Chris and Courtney was great. We did a tasting at the restaurant and knew right away this was the caterer for us. They showed up at the house about 4 hours before the ceremony and started settling up and cooking. My husband and I got married two weekends ago at Jennette's Pier and used Steamer's as our caterer for the wedding. They were absolutely AMAZING! Kyle and I had always wanted a morning wedding with a brunch menu, and right away, Steamer's offered to create this for us, despite the fact that they are typically open for lunch/dinner. They took all of our ideas and created a perfect menu that fit our vision for the special day! Throughout the entire planning process, they continued to help us make adjustments and changes, as needed, and were always super responsive to emails/questions. Their catering manager, Courtney, was FANTASTIC to work with and helped to make Steamer's one of our favorite vendors for our wedding! When the wedding day finally arrived, the food looked and tasted better than I could have imagined! Our guests swear that it was the best breakfast food that they have ever tasted. I will definitely be visiting this Steamer's during every OBX beach trip and would highly recommend them for your next event! :)

Amazing! From the setup, the happy hour, the dinner and the cleanup, everything was perfect! They were on time and everything was fantastic. Book with Steamers! I worked with Courtney and Chris and was so happy with everything they provided on my wedding day. Honestly, they were one of the best parts of the what I did that day ;). I found out about Steamers at OBX wedding expo after researching a ton of places. What really struck me about them was the service and professionalism that was provided. I received calls and emails in the timeliest manner compared the rest of my inquiries. I also spoke with the coordinator (Courtney) and chef (Chris) in the initial meeting which really solidified my opinion on Steamers. We were all able to incorporate great ideas into the final plans for our station/banquet type reception. Everyone on staff went above and beyond what was expected (and trust me that was a lot) throughout the night. All of our guests are still raving about how we had the best food that they ever had at a wedding. This gem is one of the best finds that my husband and I have found on the beach, and the best part is, we can still come back and enjoy some of our favorites at the restaurant's new location. Oh where to start... First off you have to use steamers for any private event you have in OBX ... Whether it's a dinner party, wedding reception, birthday... They are amazing. The food was fantastic, Chris and Linda are the sweetest people! We had a change of venue 3 days before our wedding due to unforeseen circumstances, not only did they accommodate us, Linda was on the phone calling everyone she knew to help us! Steamers is absolutely amazing! Chris (the chef) and Courtney (the catering manager) are the kindest, most wonderful people. From our first initial call to the tasting it was evident they loved their job and were happy to accommodate whatever we imagined for our wedding day. On the day of the wedding our outside dinner was rained out, and they changed locations and worked with the time schedule change seamlessly. Courtney checked that I had food and was okay many times during the evening. Everyone from the bartenders to the servers were so sweet and pleasant. Finally, the best part- the FOOD! It was absolutely delicious and everyone continually raved about the quality. The oysters were unreal, the appetizers were perfect, and then entrees were delicious. Awesome people, the best food, and I would highly recommend them for ANY catering event. Thank you, Steamers! :)

We loved working with Steamers, Chris and Courtney were so responsive and helpful, and are so passionate about what they do. Before the event they worked with us to tailor everything to our preferences, they were willing to really customize the event for us. And the actual event was great, the food was AMAZING! We had multiple guests tell us that it was the best food they had ever had at a wedding, and we still have guests talking about the magic scallops and the bisque. Working with Chris and his team was amazing! Chris and his team were amazing! We loved working with Chris to come up with a unique menu. The whole menu was local, organic and almost everything was gluten free. Not only was it delicious, but it was also healthy and fresh.

Chris was super easy to work with and we got to get creative in our food selection process and he never pressured us. He was a cool, laid back guy, but also extraordinarily hard working and proud of his service, which he should be. EVERYTHING went off without a hitch and he thought of things I didn't even think about - making wedding planning and the day super easy. Everything was set up as it should be and food came out perfectly timed. Everyone raved about the food. And amazingly, I actually ATE my meal. Despite everything going on around us, the food was so good, I actually ate it and remembered it! We even had an amazingly fresh oyster bar in the middle of the summer! I couldn't recommend Chris and Steamers and his team highly enough! Thanks, Chris!

Chris is so wonderful!! He always responded to my calls or emails in a timely manner and really worked with us to make sure we had everything we wanted/needed for the catering for our wedding. The food was so amazing, and our guests were blown away by the quality of the seafood and how attentive Chris and his staff were during the entire event!
We went with the Alaskan Crab Feast (worth every penny!) and added the Oyster station. The Oysters were delicious and Chris orders them based on what is currently season. We certainly enjoyed them and heard rave reviews from guests!!

Disclaimer: Did not use Steamers to cater our wedding. I wanted to get the word out about how wonderful it was working with Chef Chris from Steamers for other events besides weddings.

I wanted to give our family one night off from cooking and cleaning during our September vacation to OBX. So I took on the challenge of finding a personal chef/caterer that would travel to a house on the 4x4 beach.

Google led me right to Steamers. But the Yelp reviews and a colleague's recommendation (she had her wedding catered by Chef Chris and Steamers) convinced me to give them a call.

Working with Chris was great, I'd describe him has professionally casual. No contracts or deposits were required we just established"gentlemen's agreement" to book him for our date. Loved that.

Steamers does have their set catering menu on their website with many great choices. But Chris was also very flexible and willing to create a custom surf & turf menu for us. I included a picture of our menu.

In addition we asked Chris if he could put on a mini cooking demo on how they make their incredible crab cakes. He accepted and put on a wonderful show. Side note, be sure to include the crab cake appetizer on your menu.

Another recommendation, save room for the NY Style Cheesecake for dessert, it's like no cheesecake you've had before, trust me.

The evening was the highlight of our vacation. And it wasn't because Chris did our dishes; he was fun and friendly and he made the entire experience relaxed and very entertaining.

Look no further than Chef Chris and Steamers to cater your family vacation or event. His cooking is outstanding, his prices are fair and he is wonderful to work with.

Chris and his team at Steamers Catering was wonderful to work with for our wedding reception! The food was amazing and the service they provided was exceptional. I received many compliments on the food, some said it was the best meal they had in the Outer Banks. I was fortunate enough to coordinate a tasting ahead of time but for those who aren't the Lobster & Shrimp Bisque is amazing! I can't wait to go back down and get some more.

Chris is a can-do dude! Our catering plans for my wedding were loosely formed. He took charge and put together an amazing meal of fish (mahi mahi), ribs, chicken..etc.

The food was fantastic, you could tell he put a lot of time and care into every facet. I highly recommend working with Chris and Steamers catering!

We had planned our wedding from out of state (all via email and phone). We could not have been happier with the choices that we made, especially with Steamers as our catering company. They were pleasant and responsive. I had no worries once they arrived - they were on time and ready to go! The food was fresh and delicious! Chris and the girls did a FANTASTIC job! The best part was that we were able to actually sit down and enjoy our wedding and our guests without having to worry. Thank you SO MUCH again!

Chris and his staff were amazing! The attention to detail and extra touches were perfect and the food was all exceptional. Steamers is one of our favorite restaurants when we visit Corolla and it was wonderful to be able to share that with our wedding guests. Everyone raved about both the quality and abundance Steamers provided. I highly recommend them for any event, especially if you want a professional staff that will handle everything without you even having to ask.

Steamers was absolutely fabulous from beginning to end!! Chris, the owner, went above and beyond to make this a memorable catering experience. The food was abundant and meticulously prepared. The guests loved the selection of foods and how it was presented by Steamer's staff. I highly recommend Steamers for any event you might have!! You will not be disappointed!

Steamer's was absolutely perfect for our Outer Banks wedding. Chris was wonderfully easy to work with and even in their down season, he was still responsive and easy to reach. My group was especially impressed, as we are all a group of caterers in New Jersey, and everyone commented on how amazing the food was. You won't go wrong if you choose Steamer's; they are flexible and professional and the food speaks for itself.

Great quality food! If you like seafood, this is the place to go. They had the best salmon I've ever had and great clam chowder. People couldn't stop talking about the catering weeks after the wedding was over. We were very pleased with the food and the service. They communicate well. Since we are not from North Carolina, we were a little concerned about the catering. Due to the fact we weren't able to taste the food, communication was very important to us. Great food, great service!

HIGHLY recommend Steamers for catering as they ensured a fabulous time for all when we hosted a welcome dinner in Kill Devil Hills in August 2015. Their food and service was amazing and exceeded all of our expectations!!! I honestly cannot think of one criticism to mention because it was a wonderful time and the staff went above and beyond to ensure that!

Chris was amazing! He recently catered my wedding and I highly recommend him and his team for any event. He arrived at the house we rented as we were getting ready and by the time we returned, the tables were set, the wine chilled, and appetizers ready to be served. Salad was served as soon as all the guests were seated and the staff he brought with him was very attentive. All of the food was outstanding. Quality (service and food) far surpassed what I expected. Thank you Chris for making my day even more special and memorable.

Large outdoor Whalehead Club wedding catering May 2024

Steamers is one of our favorite restaurants on the Outer Banks and we have gone there for years with our family. When my now husband and I started planning our OBX wedding, Steamers was our top catering choice. We could not be happier! Chris and the entire team did an insanely amazing job with our event. The menu selection and tasting process during planning was probably my favorite part of the entire wedding planning process! Multiple guests commented on how wonderful the food was, and we're so glad it was a highlight of the event. Their food truck and mobile catering kitchen makes them a no brainer choice for an outdoor wedding at a venue like Whalehead! We had an oyster bar as part of our cocktail hour and hush puppies included in the bread baskets at the reception dinner, which were HUGE crowd pleasers. Thank you so much, Steamers!

Best choice ever

The food!!! Where do I start wow. They take real pride in the there food. Chris was so wonderful to work with. I can't stop raving about the grits!!! They nailed it to a T. WOW. Everything was delicious,comes highly recommend!
