Our experience at Sonnenberg Gardens was nothing short of magical. We live in San Diego, CA and found this venue from family friends. At first we were reluctant to schedule a wedding from across the country, but from the moment we first stepped onto the grounds, we knew this was where we wanted to get married—and the day itself exceeded every expectation.
The gardens are breathtaking in every direction. Our guests could not stop talking about how beautiful the property was, and it created the perfect backdrop for a classic, timeless wedding. During cocktail hour, friends and family wandered the paths, explored the rose garden, and took some of the best photos we’ve ever seen. It felt like we had an entire private estate to ourselves.
The staff were extremely kind, organized, and supportive. They answered every question leading up to the day, were flexible with our setup needs, and made everything feel seamless. Even small touches—like helping coordinate guest flow, making sure our timing stayed on track, and being available without being intrusive—made a huge difference.
Sonnenberg gives you an experience that feels elevated, elegant, and deeply personal. It’s not just a venue—it’s a place with charm and history that adds so much character to the day. Our ceremony felt intimate and meaningful, surrounded by nature and incredible scenery.

A perfect day
We had so much fun on our wedding day. Any requests we had were met with excitement and flexibility, and you can tell Kris and the team simply care and really enjoy coordinating weddings. Sonnenberg is such a unique and beautiful space and we will look forward to returning as the years continue. 10/10 would recommend!!!

Wonderful Sonnenberg Wedding!
Finding a venue was first on our wedding to do list. After our first meeting for the tour of the Gardens, both we felt confident about working with Kris and Sonnenberg. It was evident that Kris and her team were organized and well prepared to handle a large wedding. All questions we asked were answered confidently and with a sense of flexibility if plans changed on the day of the wedding.
Over time, as we communicated via email, text, and phone, the staff always responded quickly. Again, building our confidence in choosing Sonnenberg as the site for our daughter’s wedding. In the days leading up to the wedding our communication increased, and Sonnenberg staff were always pleasant and had helpful suggestions while we worked through different issues. We all appreciated how well Kris and her team worked with our vendors.
There are too many positive things to list about the day of the wedding. From the minute we arrived, the Sonnenberg team was focused on us and everything going smoothly. At all times, we had a tram ready to move us and the wedding party to where they needed to be. Kris checked on us regularly to make sure all was going well as we prepared for the wedding. Our guest who needed special transportation to the wedding site was very pleased with the attention to her needs. Sonnenberg even provided a checklist to make sure we knew which guests had arrived before we started the ceremony. The wedding coordinator was so good. Everything timed to perfection. Having her there GREATLY reduced our stress. Our daughter cherishes the special pictures that Kris took during the ceremony and gave to her of the panoramic view of the wedding. We could list so much more.
We are so thankful to Kris and Sonnenberg for being a key part of our daughter’s wedding. It was a pleasure working with Sonnenberg Gardens and Mansion and their well-organized, friendly, helpful team. All with the backdrop of the beautiful Sonnenberg Gardens!

Early October Wedding
My daughter had her wedding in early October at Sonnenberg Gardens. It was a destination wedding for a group of approximately 90 all traveling from multiple states. I can’t say enough about Kris and all the help she gave us throughout the year long planning. She gave us a vendor list that we were able to utilize and choose what best fit our needs. She was available for questions and suggestions throughout the process. The day of the wedding Kris and her staff were amazing and made our guests feel so welcomed. The venue is beautiful and my daughter had her dream wedding. I would highly recommend Sonnenberg Gardens for a wedding or other events. Kris and her staff are amazing and very attentive.

Magic in the Gardens
We had our wedding reception at Sonnenberg and it was truly the best day ever! Kris was always so responsive and was an absolute joy to work with. The whole team at Sonnenberg was so kind and flexible, including when we had to shift our cocktail hour inside due to rain. Our guests loved being able to experience the mansion and also the stunning gardens later on! The entire venue, tent, and grounds were beautiful and we truly could not have asked for a more perfect day!

Wonderful wedding at Sonnenberg Gardens!!
Kris Knight and her staff/volunteers made my daughters’ and son-in-laws’ wedding day absolutely everything we could have hoped for! Sonnenberg Gardens is a beautiful place in September, it was a perfect venue fit for their style, which was an elegant garden party theme. The day turned out to be gorgeous for their outdoor ceremony, and we were happy to know that if the weather turned, plan B was to have the ceremony inside the great hall of the mansion. Because Sonnenberg Gardens is a state park, it is surprisingly affordable. Everything was very organized, and the on site rehearsal the day before the ceremony made the actual wedding day less stressful. It all came together so well! I would highly recommend taking a look at this venue!

Thank you for being the BEST wedding venue we could have imaged. Kris was so great to work & communicate with. She made all of our visions come true, including croquet in the lawn, a model T car dropping us off at the mansion, a big jazz band playing at the mansion, and quite simply - the most stunning tent there ever was.

Our ✨dream✨ wedding
We got married at Sonnenberg in June 2024. It was truly our dream venue. The grounds are absolutely gorgeous, providing the perfect setting for both our ceremony and our reception, as well as for all of our wedding portraits. Its beauty alone would make us choose this venue again and again without reservations, but the people at Sonnenberg are phenomenal. Kris is professional, organized, and incredibly responsive. The perfect day at a perfect location!
Sonnenberg was such a wonderful location for us on our special day! Kris and Beth were so helpful and engaged - before, during and after the event. They were also extremely flexible in scheduling our rehearsal and ceremony on a holiday weekend. Though we were early in the flowering season for the area, the grounds were beautiful and green and we had a warm and sunny day! They did a wonderful job of accommodating for some of our concerns for guests with mobility issues and made a guest list of 50 feel like they were filling up the place. Grand and intimate all at once. We're so pleased with our day and how much everyone enjoyed the event. And it was a wonderful backdrop for all of our photos with TAJ Photography who really wanted to be sure the venue was a presence in our memories.

Stunning venue with amazing staff
When we took our first tour of Sonnenberg and mentioned to the staff that we were considering it as our wedding venue, everyone we talked to raved about Kris and her event team. It didn’t take long to see what they were talking about! Kris was a HUGE help throughout our wedding planning process. She was very responsive and friendly, gave great advice, and laid everything out for us right when we booked so we had everything we needed to get started. Throughout our engagement, she went above and beyond and made us feel so cared for.
And then on the day of the wedding, Kris, Beth, and their team of volunteers were superstars. They were so calm and on top of everything, and when it started raining 30 minutes before our outdoor ceremony, they offered the inside of the mansion as a rain plan. I hadn’t even known that was an option (they have a rain tent which I assumed we would use in the case of inclement weather), but it ended up being so intimate and special inside. Kris and her team made it happen without a hitch, and we felt so cared for all day.
The venue itself is gorgeous, of course, and it makes for an amazing photo background. Since it’s a historic park and not just a wedding venue, there was more we had to do in terms of hiring vendors, but Kris provided great guidance and vendor recommendations throughout the process. We absolutely loved getting married at Sonnenberg!

The greatest team!
Kris and her team were absolutely amazing and made the wedding planning experience with them such a joy. Got Hitched without a Hitch
Sonnenberg should be an institution in upstate New York as far as weddings go. Beautiful grounds, incredibly helpful and friendly staff, and a wonderful sense of history.
We had such an amazing experience with K et is and her team at sonnenberg. There were so many photo locations that even rain wasn't a problem for our wedding day. Throughout multiple pivots right befit the ceremony everybody was professional and so accommodating. I would absolutelyrecommend this beautiful venue and it's amazing staff over and over to anybody who is looking for a venue in this area.

Amazing Venue!
Sonnenberg Gardens was an amazing venue for our wedding day! The staff and volunteers were all so helpful, friendly and flexible. Our ceremony took place in the Upper Rock Garden, where we were able to totally customize the seating arrangement and ceremony site. It was a peaceful, celebratory and intimate ceremony- exactly what we hoped for! We had our cocktail hour on the mansion veranda overlooking the beautiful Italian Garden. Our reception was a big party in the wedding tent. The tent was gorgeous with great lighting and plenty of room for comfortable seating and a big dance floor. It's been 6 months since our wedding and our guests are still talking about what an awesome time they had! It was truly a dream wedding venue - gorgeous views wherever you look & a helpful team that helped our wedding vision become a reality!

Sonnenberg created the Wedding of Our Dreams
Kris and the entire Sonnenberg staff were essential in helping our vision come true. The grounds are beautiful and made for stunning photos for our engagement and wedding pictures. The team helps to make sure everyone can get around safely with golf carts, coordinates with effectively with vendors, and helps with timing throughout the ceremony.

Beautiful venue, perfect day
Sonnenberg was such an incredibly beautiful venue that made for a memorable day with absolutely gorgeous pictures. We worked with Kris and her team at Sonnenberg, as well as our own wedding coordinator. The teams/vendors all knew each other pretty well having been in the business in the area for a while, and worked together pretty seamlessly.
Sonnenberg is such a naturally gorgeous place/venue that we didn't have to do much to create the wedding we wanted, there was a lot of natural beauty all around which was what we wanted. The main things we had to do were work closely with the florist to decorate the tent and wedding arch, and outsourced to a rental company for wooden farm tables for the reception tent, and rented wooden crossback chairs for the tent to replace the white plastic chairs that Sonnenberg provides.
After that, everything came together and was perfect. Sonnenberg will continue to be an incredibly beautiful, and meaningful place.

Sonnenberg garden was the obvious choice for us! A friend once told me that all you have after a wedding is the pictures and it is so true! Looking back on our photos now I am continuously amazed that we were able to find such a beautiful venue to wed. Kris is very responsive and can answer all your questions. The reception tent with the chandeliers had guests in awe. If you are like me and have type A personality and need all those little details executed I do suggest a wedding planner outside of the offered services (we went with black label events — I also highly suggest them). Go for it and enjoy your magical fairytale wedding 💕😘

Kind and Professional Team, Beautiful Gardens
I had my wedding here at Sonnenberg Gardens. I couldn't have asked for a more beautiful place to get married. When I saw the ceremony site at the wedding rehearsal, I was overcome with joyous tears. I couldn't stop crying because it was everything I hoped it would be and I was so excited to get married to my husband there the next day. The ceremony site was stunning and the grounds were a perfect backdrop for photos. Kris, the venue coordinator, was a joy to work with. She was attentive and answered all my many, many questions promptly. I highly recommend getting married here if you are in the market. The Sonnenberg team is lovely, professional, and kind. And the gardens are truly gorgeous. I couldn't have asked for a more magical and beautiful day.

A Dream for Our Wedding Day on 5/21/22
We knew we wanted a Garden Wedding surrounded by lush greenery, history and some european influences and so I knew Sonnenberg Gardens was our venue when I saw it. It was perfect for our vision of an elegant, modern gatsby tent wedding. Kris was amazing to work with and the staff was amazing and very accomodating and made our wedding day so amazing, I really did not feel stressed at all. Our guests also loved celebrating at the gardens. I highly recommend if you have a similar vision for your wedding!

Vendor Turned Family Friend
Our wedding experience at Sonnenberg Gardens was packed with fond memories even given that it unfolded during COVID. The event planners at Sonnenberg are the best! From being our champion during the scheduling and rescheduling gauntlet (due to COVID), to being so generous with their time to get to know us, they made the whole experience so wonderful. By the time of the wedding, they became close family friends. They knew us and our story so well, they were able to make a very personal sign that greeted our guests at the door. That definitely brought a tear to my eye when I saw it. They saw to every detail and were a warm, helpful and friendly presence during the event.
The venue was stunning - the gardens were so gorgeous and the mansion veranda was such a lovely location for drinks and appetizers. We had our reception in the mansion and it was so lovely. It was a wonderful mix of stately, impressive, warm and inviting. The gardens provide so many beautiful backdrops for jaw-dropping wedding photos. A delightful benefit of having the wedding at Sonnenberg is that our guests were able to tour the gardens at any point during the day. So many of our friends are using photos taken in the gardens at our wedding in their Christmas cards this year.
We highly recommend Sonnenberg Gardens as an unforgettable and in-every-way wonderful wedding venue.

If you are looking for a unique venue close to home…look no further! Sonnenberg Gardens was exactly what we were looking for in a wedding venue! The staff made our special day go so smoothly and kept us all on track! Kris was so helpful during every important minute. I wish had more time to take more pictures of all of us on our big day but everyone was truly great with keep everything together and on time. Never did I feel rushed or pressured to do anything. I was so pressed and plan to visit every year moving forward to celebrate our special day. Another super cute touch they did was give us complimentary wine with wine glasses which I thought was such a cute touch :) highly recommend this venue to anyone! Big or small wedding day!

The venue was perfect! Kris and team were so helpful throughout our special day. They went above and beyond for us! Staff was kind and knowledgeable. They made us along with guests comfortable and welcome. They were a huge help from setup to clean up and truly made the day magical!

Wonderful pandemic wedding
Kris and the staff at Sonnenberg were absolutely wonderful and supportive to help us plan and have a wedding ceremony during the pandemic. They gave us a discount for our party of only 15 people and planned a beautiful setting in the Japanese Garden that is not typically a location they offer at Sonnenberg. They helped everyone get seated and coordinated both my and my husband's movements before, during and after the ceremony which really eased my nervousness. I could not say enough about Sonnenberg Gardens...I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a wedding venue!

The venue went above and beyond during the planning, the event, and after the fact. We will forever be grateful to Kris and her amazing staff.
The venue went above and beyond to make our day as simple and amazing as possible. They found stuff to store our extra food in when the caterer fell short here. They took pictures and sent them after the fact as well as checked in generally. They made sure everyone knew what was happening at rehearsal and were always professional and respectful. We could not have chose a better place.

Dream come true
Had my wedding in August of 2020. Within all the chaos of covid 19 my husband and I were still able to have a beautiful wedding with a beautiful venue!! All the staff helped our dreams come true.

Beautiful outdoor wedding ceremony!
My husband and I booked our wedding ceremony at Sonnenberg Gardens on pretty short notice, when our original wedding venue closed in light of the pandemic. Kris, the event manager, was so incredibly helpful, kind, and flexible in working with us to plan our wedding! We had a small ceremony and cocktail hour at Sonnenberg and it was absolutely beautiful. It was the perfect setting for our ceremony, and the grounds are gorgeous for taking photos. We were lucky to have great weather, but also appreciated that there was a backup tented location in case of rain. I'm so glad that we had our wedding here.

Beautiful & Easy Ceremony
We worked with Deb and Jennifer on a small, intimate wedding during August. We had a very unconventional and simple ceremony and they both were more than accommodating. They were responsible, helpful & enthusiastic from our first discussion to the final details on our special day. The weather was back & forth between thunderstorms and hot, sunny weather all day on our wedding, and Deb made us feel completely relaxed as we evaluated options. Our guests loved the gardens and the mansion as well. It's a beautiful place that everyone can enjoy & I would recommend it to anyone for any size wedding.

Sonnenberg Gardens
Our wedding at Sonnenberg was absolutely magical! My husband and I were planning our wedding from afar but Deb went out of her way to make sure we were able to see the venue and meet with whenever we could get to town. She was very responsive via phone and email and made sure I had everything I needed and more during our special day! All of our guests raved about the beauty of each garden, ceremony site and under the tent!

Beautiful Venue and wonderful staff!
My daughter had her wedding and reception at Sonnenberg Gardens on May 25, 2019. My daughter was dealing with side effects from cancer treatment and so some special accommodations were made in the tent to provide her with an area where she could sit and receive guests. Their wedding was out by the pond and grotto. I cannot say enough about the job that Deb and her staff did. They bent over backward to allow us in early to decorate the day before, helped coordinate with the caterer, baker, florist and DJ. The wedding, as 1 guest said, was epic. I would recommend this venue over and over again.
Thank you to the Sonnenberg staff for making that day something they will always treasure.

The gardens and Sonnenberg team in whole were incredible! Their communication and planning were amazing, and allowed a lot of flexibility and customization with the whole process. The Rock Garden looked wonderful on our wedding day, and everything was executed as arranged. The team was amazing before, during, and after the ceremony as well! A++++!

As parents of the bride we could not have happier with the beauty of Sonnenberg and the helpfulness of Deb and her team! This was the most elegant wedding reception I have ever been to and it was our reception for our daughter! Everything was perfection. The funniest comment we heard was how cozy it was. This great big house was cozy. There is such warmth to the rooms, that it feels very welcoming. I felt Mary Thompson was there to make sure everything went well, and it did.

We had a great experience with Sonnenberg. The staff was helpful from start to finish. It was tricky working on the tent set up with the other vendors. Deb helped alleviate some of the complexities by helping us coordinate them. They were very accommodating especially with our specifications for a Hindu ceremony.

Everyone was fantastic to work with at Sonnenberg. They completely made me feel like I did not have to worry about a thing for my ceremony, because they had everything worked out already. Our wedding at Sonnenberg was gorgeous, even with minimal decor. The staff was amazing and we didn't have to worry about a thing the day of the wedding. All of our guests LOVED the venue - they had free admission to tour the property! Many people have decided to go back for a visit so they can take in the beautiful property. I recommend this venue to anyone!

From day one, Deb and her team at Sonnenberg Gardens did absolutely everything to ensure that our wedding day was perfect! First off, you really couldn't ask for a more beautiful venue. Sonnenberg Gardens is like a place out of a fairytale, with lots of hidden gardens and places to explore on the grounds. It's hard to believe that a place like this exists in Western NY! I was able to choose from a huge selection of potential locations that were all equally beautiful for our 120 person ceremony and reception. Deb was also incredibly flexible and accommodating throughout the planning process, and was very receptive to every little request I had. She made herself available to meet with me and work with my crazy schedule, since I was planning the wedding remotely and only able to come in on odd (and often holiday) weekends. Deb is also a truly kind person, and worked very hard to make sure that no detail went unnoticed. Even when it rained on our big day, she worked behind the scenes to make sure that I wouldn't have to worry about all of the changes and could focus on enjoying the best day of my life. Every single part of our wedding was absolutely perfect, and I definitely have Deb to thank for that! I would give her and Sonnenberg Gardens my highest recommendation.

It was refreshing to work with someone who was understanding and treated you like a person rather than a client who is to be dealt with in an outlined manner. We had a small destination wedding ceremony but we still wanted to celebrate with our family and friends. We chose Sonnenberg because we wanted a great outdoor venue that didn't require us to do a lot of work or planning. Things could not have gone easier from our first meeting with Deb until the day of the event. We simply told her what we wanted for the site and she took care of all the ordering. The grounds were in amazing shape and the staff and volunteers were very friendly. We couldn't be happier with our decision.

A sunny day in early summer. A late morning wedding in the gorgeous gardens of Sonnenberg. The setting was amazing. We were lucky enough to have a beautiful (although a bit unseasonably hot) day to make our wedding day picture perfect.
The staff was wonderfully helpful and accommodating during both the planning and the event. I think choosing an area within the Gardens for the ceremony was our biggest challenge in the whole process.

The kitchen was quite small and made things a little tricky for my food servers, but other than that, we were able to enjoy a beautiful time. We only had 55 guests, which made it perfect for the use of the mansion. I would not rent this space if I had more guests. It was a perfect fit for our size wedding.

We had a very simple ceremony planned and they helped us throughout the whole process without a rehearsal. Furthermore, it rained the day of our wedding so I texted Deborah Kelley, the event manager, the move the chairs to an alternate location and they did! They were so wonderful. We had our wedding ceremony at Sonnenberg. It was beautiful and perfect! Deb and Diane worked with us on every detail that we requested. They were quick to respond to every email, and exceeded our expectations! Many compliments from our wedding guests!

We had our ceremony at Sonnenberg. When we first saw the location, we knew it was the one. It is just beautiful there, and so many locations for pictures. I wish I could have had more time there for photos...probably could have spent all 8 hours there taking pictures. The ceremony location (white arch next to the rose garden) was just beautiful. For an outdoor ceremony, there was still a great "reveal" of the bride. Rachel was very good at answering all of my questions and setting everything up. Also, we wanted to take pictures before the ceremony, which is still not the norm, so we had to switch some of the schedule around, and they were very flexible with it, it worked out great! Rachel and the staff were very organized and kept the timing of the pictures, and ceremony running smoothly. They coordinated with the musicians and officiant to make sure everyone was in their place and everything ran smoothly. I have received so many compliments from my guests about this location and how beautiful it was and such a great place!

Deb and her crew at sonnenberg were awesome to work with. The grounds and mansion are spectacular! The new tent set up was excellent for cocktail hour and our event. Any request we had, Deb did her best job to make sure they happened. Excellent venue and great staff!

We had my parents' 50th wedding anniversary party in the Carriage House, and it was wonderful. Everyone had a terrific time, the venue was the perfect size, and they coordinated perfectly with the caterer and DJ. They put in a dance floor at my request, and while there was a wedding starting outside during our party we felt just as cared-for as the larger wedding. A lovely venue at a reasonable price!

We didn’t want to do a formal, sit-down rehearsal dinner, so we planned a cocktail style/garden party for all of our guests that were in town the evening before the wedding at Sonnenberg. The grounds are absolutely stunning; lots of beautiful gardens and the freedom to roam anywhere you like. They actually drove all of our guests up to the mansion and main area in carts, which they all loved. The mansion in the center is incredible, and has a huge veranda, where we were able to put a band, a bar, several food stations, numerous tables for our guests, and still had tons of room to spare. Planning with Deborah was seamless, definitely recommend for a beautiful venue!

We had our ceremony at Sonnenberg Gardens, and I'm so glad we did! It was so wonderful and the perfect setting for a mid-summer wedding. We enjoyed our time there so much, and received so many positive comments from our guests. Deb and her staff took great care of us; they kept us on track and on time. They coordinated with our florists and musicians as they arrived, so I didn't have to worry. Thank you to Deb and staff for a wonderful experience! I would highly recommend Sonnenberg, it's the perfect wedding spot.
Absolute dream, the sonnenberg team helped us make sure every detail was brought to life from lining up our wedding party to helping me as the bride making a special entrance of my own! They made sure everything went flawlessly! Absolutely would suggest them for a wedding venue. Kris is great to keep in contact with and can help you with any questions. If she can make it happen for you she will.

10/10 wedding experience
Picking a venue is probably one of toughest decisions to make when planning a wedding, but Kris and her team at Sonnenberg actually made this a very easy decision. The gardens were stunning and the price was on point, but what really sold Sonnenberg to us was the professionalism of Kris and her experience in this field. My husband and I did not hire a wedding planner or day of coordinator, but it did not matter because Kris and her team coordinated the day perfectly and ensured everything ran smoothly and on time. She made excellent recommendations for other vendors such as caterer and florist and her experience in pulling off beautiful weddings was invaluable. At one point while taking a golf cart to a photo site, the cart stopped working and Kris literally hopped out of the cart to push it forward to get it where it needed to go, and arranged for another cart to be there within minutes. That is how dedicated she was and is to making your wedding the best day ever. She is incredibly calm and poised even in stressful situations, and that is exactly who you want helping on your wedding day. In terms of the gardens themselves, the gardens were stunning and natural, and photos turned out incredible. The tent is also the classiest outdoor tent I have ever seen, and I heard several comments from guests about how beautiful the tent, chandeliers, and aviary spot all were during the reception.

It rained and it was still stunning
Every couple dreads having to deal with rain on your wedding day. It poured on ours all day. The staff and coordinators and volunteers which especially efficient in organizing and transporting guests to alternate location due to the rain. Despite the rain I had heard back amazing things with the attentiveness of the staff and volunteers who coordinated. In retrospect the cost may have not been equivalent factoring in the rain wash out, but we were not upset about. Overall a beautiful venue with beautifully supportive and attentive staff and volunteers who were especially helpful with tramm-ing guests on golf carts who had medical needs for transport. The tent all done up was beautiful and it is a day I will always cherish. Cant wait to visit again and reminisce

Everything for our special day went very well! Deb and her staff worked so well with us and the other vendors who made our special day so spectacular. The new wedding pad was well worth the price and made our guests jaws drop! Highly recommended!!!!

Sonnenberg is all about the location... Sprawling, lush gardens and beautifully nostalgic architecture combine to make the ideal setting for an outdoor wedding. My husband and I had the greatest day of our lives thanks to the friendly and thoughtful Sonnenberg staff. It's no surprise that Sonnenberg is located among the beauty of "the chosen spot", Canandaigua Lake. You will not regret getting married here unless you are looking for a typical "reception hall" style wedding. My dreams truly came true here.

The gardens were the perfect place for our wedding!! Our guests enjoyed being able to take in the beautiful mansion and gardens before and immediately after our ceremony, and we were thrilled to be able to say our vows in the rock garden, which made an incredible backdrop. The staff at Sonnenberg took great care of us before, during, and after the ceremony, letting us store our large chuppah and other equipment on the grounds a few days before the wedding. Highly recommended!

We really wanted an outdoor venue and this one was the most beautiful, affordable, and all inclusive with provision for rain and power all taken care of. Our wedding was a success!

Deborah Kelly and the other ladies at Sonnenberg Gardens did a really great job making sure that everything was taken car of in a timely manner and they made sure they were always on top of everything. From the planning phase to the day of, they were always super prepared and helpful, they really made the experience and day enjoyable. I particularly liked how honest they were about the prices of everything and what they could and could not do.

Plan a day before the wedding with your photographer to plan out where and what kind of pictures you want. There are a lot of great spots for pictures.

It was beautiful and I was so happy for the choice that I made on where to have my wedding. The worker do a fantastic job keeping the gardens and the history of the mansion. That was why I picked sonnenberg because of its history and how it looks like it did back then. I truly am happy to see tradition and history preserved so well. There isn't alot of that now a days...

Our rehearsal dinner at Sonnenberg was just lovely! Beautiful setting on a nice July night, so we were able to wander the grounds a bit as well. We were in the carriage house, which was the perfect size for us, and then right outside of the carriage house was the old aviary and a set of beautiful gardens for us to take photos in and made for beautiful views out the window.

The venue was beautiful and the options for getting ready before and taking pictures after were perfect. We did, however, encounter a few memorable instances of rudeness and a lack of professionalism from the women who primarily worked with us. Overall, the venue was accommodating and the service and flexibility allowed for us to have a beautiful event.

Working with Sonnenberg Gardens for my daughter's wedding was two-fold. Sonnenberg is a stunning estate that has much to offer as a wedding venue. Everything in advance was as I would have expected. The rehearsal covered many little things that they shared which were beneficial to make certain that the wedding ran smoothly. The planner, however, was impatient and outright rude to several of the bridesmaids when it would have been just as easy to get your point across nicely. On the day of the wedding, many people and guests made comments on how rude the staff was. Some of my family members were actually yelled at for entering the wedding site to be seated before the aisle was blocked off. I was embarrassed to say the least. Beautiful venue, needs a more professional staff.

I have to say, I was not sure what to rank Sonnenberg Gardens. There is no doubt that this is a beautiful venue! The staff would always return my calls in a timely manor and seemed to be very helpful. I personally wanted a small wedding and you would think that for less than $600 this would be in budget but that didn't include anything but to have people walk on the property. With about 40 guests I separately had to pay for chairs. To have shelter for my harpist on the porch area that was an extra $400! That's $1000 that went right into their pockets with nothing in return plus their charge of $80 for that chairs. The wedding rehearsal where my family was trying to have fun, the event staff was extremely rude and even told the best man to stop talking. She then insulted my sister, who had my nephew who is 2 with us because he was my ring bearer. He was being a typical 2 year old giggling and walking then sitting then walking and sitting and the event coordinator had the nerve to say "Didn't anyone think to bring him something like a coloring book?" How dare she? The day of the wedding they weren't any friendlier. It was on and off rain and they wanted to move my ceremony site which was not ok with me. The event coordinator even said to me "That is not a wise decision." Well guess what, it is not your wedding it is mine, so you just leave it the way I want it. She also had the nerve to have my groom change is the carriage house BATHROOM where there was urine on the floor and when she went to tell the groom and best man it was time she again told them to stop talking while walking to the ceremony site. She was rude and cranky on my big day, along with the rest of her staff.
Overall if you want a small wedding and beautiful pictures I recommend Sonnenberg ONLY IF you can deal with people who should not be working in Hospitality. I am glad I had my reception elsewhere.

The photographer and everyone agreed that this was one of the hardest vendors to work with. On a 90 degree day, the photographer was sent away from the indoor bathrooms, and was denied water told the tent was near by. guests were constantly getting yelled at. Two days before the event Deb the coordinator called telling me there's a wedding in the same location the night before and we cant set up the day before. We then had to agree with the other bride on a tent. Deb was always confused and forgot any requests made as if I was asking her everything for the first time. The park was beautiful, but overall not an 'enjoyable' wedding experience.
