I had zero wedding day worries because of Nicola
Nicola was amazing!! I am an over-planner and I love to get things done early… and over worry about things going wrong. Because of Nicola, by the day of the wedding I had ZERO concerns. I was able to do completely relax and enjoy. She helped us get access to venues others couldn’t get responses from, pick the most amazing vendors, and overall made the wedding planning process a breeze and made me feel comfortable even when asking ridiculous questions. And she helped us re plan everything we had to delay a year because of Covid. I will recommend Nicola to anyone looking for a planner!! -

Run! Don't Walk!
We began working with Nicola roughly one month after our engagement. I am a busy professional and knew that I needed assistance, especially as the wedding day drew near.
We, like so many couples in 2020, were affected by the pandemic and postponed our wedding several times before deciding to get married in September 2020. I truly believe we were able to weather the pandemic wedding planning whiplash because we had Nicola on our team. She frequently communicated wedding trends and suggestions, which were so helpful. Our intimate wedding of 30 was at the Whitney in Detroit and was planned in roughly 4 weeks. I couldn't be happier with Nicola and her services. She helped us set up our reception details and at the last minute picked up our wedding cake! We are so thankful for her help. Our day was calm and stress free because of her, which allowed us to focus on our celebration and starting our lives together. This was so important because it took a lot to get to our wedding date due to the pandemic!
If you're looking for a very professional and personable wedding planner with excellent connections in the wedding industry, run, don't walk, and book Nicola for your special day. We're having a larger reception next year and are super excited to work with her again. -

Absolutely wonderful!
During the entire wedding planning process, my husband and I would consistently say the same exact thing: The best thing we ever did was find Nicola! Every step of the way, Nicola and her team put together the most incredible wedding we could have even tried to imagine! The both of us had very little vision or understanding of what we wanted and how we wanted to accomplish it, but Nicola was so patient with us, and always gently guided us to make more thoughtful and informed decisions. She came with us to just about every vendor meeting to make sure the right questions were asked and everything was properly aligned. She genuinely went above and beyond and for that we are so grateful!
The wedding itself was absolutely incredible! Nicola and her team created both a visually stunning wedding that also operated so smoothly and seamlessly. When I saw the final look come together, I genuinely could not believe that this was our wedding. Genavieve was amazing as well! The day of, she was so kind when it came to guiding all of our guests and always seemed to appear at the exact moment I needed anything at all. Looking back, I cannot count how many people approached us afterwards and told us that it was the most beautiful wedding they had ever attended. I cannot recommend Simply Brilliant Events enough!! -

Nicola is amazing!
If you're thinking about booking a wedding planner, book Nicola! We live in Colorado so planning a wedding in Michigan was a challenge. Our wedding venue was the Ford Piquette Plant in Detroit, which means everything had to be brought in from outside vendors. She gave us a few option with a few price ranges and was honest and upfront with everything. I trusted her opinion. The vendors she recommended did an absolutely outstanding job. Nicola was available to chat and email through the whole thing. She kept us on track with deadlines and always asked our opinions on what we liked to do. At the wedding, 5 minutes into our reception, my husband tripped up the stairs, busted his lip, chipped his tooth and broke his nose. She didn't panic and knew how to handle the situation. From the first moment to the very end she helped in every way possible. It was truly a blessing to have her by our side. I highly recommend hiring her. I promise you won't regret it! -

A life savior!
Nicola was one of the best decisions we made. Her attention to detail is amazing and a must for a busy bride. If you cant budget for a full time wedding planner, please do at least a month of/week of. I would 100% recommend Nicola to any one. A planner is worth it and you will not fully realize it until after the wedding how much you needed one.-

Simply wonderful
Nicola was very professional and helpful throughout our daughters wedding. We hired her for the month of wedding and she helped to bring our vision a reality. She was excellent in making sure the large bridal party was where they needed to be and that the wedding day was everything we had imagined. We added a bagpiper at the last minute and Nicola made sure that it was injected perfectly into the wedding day. We with we could do it all over again it was a PERFECT day for our daughter and her groom. -

Great Experience!
I couldn’t be happier with Nicola and Simply Brilliant Events to help plan our December wedding. Nicola did an outstanding job helping us throughout the process. We hired her as both day of planning as well as partial support during the planning process. Some of the critical things she assisted with during the planning process include providing vendor options (that turned out to be wonderful), she worked directly with the vendors to setup meetings so I didn’t have to be involved in every step along the way as it can be very time consuming to coordinate everything, she helped make decisions based on her experience and took the time to understand our vision to ensure it was being captured correctly. Nicola even attended multiple meetings with us with the florist, venue and lighting specialist to help facilitate to ensure we were getting what we wanted. Nicola was available throughout the whole process via phone, text and email to answer whatever (big or small) question I had. I felt like she went above and beyond to ensure we were satisfied. Her company also provides a planning website that we used to track budget, guests, vendors, seating, etc. During the day of our wedding we had to coordinate a lot of guests within our venue as we utilized the same room for the ceremony, dinner and reception. I didn’t have to think twice about moving people around or ensuring we were on schedule. The whole day was seamless and allowed me and my husband to focus on enjoying ourselves and our time with our guests. Above all of the tactical items Nicola was an absolute joy to work with and I feel she really enjoys what she does and has a passion for making the couple’s day exactly as they want it. As mentioned before, I wouldn’t think twice about booking Nicola for your planner – she’s experienced, organized, helpful and extremely pleasant to have on your team! -

Simply Perfect
Nicola was spectacular. She made sure that our day went smoothly. We had an unexpected amount of wind, but she made sure that my decorations and tent were comfortable for all my guests. I wouldn't want to do a wedding without her. Do yourself a favor and hire Nicola. She will take the stress and worry out of your most special day. -

Booking Nicola to help plan and organize our wedding was definitely one of the best choices we made throughout the whole process! We had a mostly DIY, backyard wedding and her help in keeping everything organized, on schedule, and calm was incredibly helpful! Nicola was so easy to work with and she was knowledgeable about everything from local vendors, to ideas for backup plans, to creative ways to organize things based on our specific logistical challenges. Our wedding day was crazy hot, and she was outside almost all day working on setting things up and coordinating with vendors and was still pleasant and kind to work with despite how uncomfortable she must have been!
I think working with Nicola would be a great asset to anyone planning a wedding, but especially if you are not working with a venue, I cannot stress enough how helpful it was to have her support and guidance! We had a better wedding day than we could have ever thought possible and that was definitely in huge part to Nicola. Thank you! -

Nicola was great! We hired her as a month/day of coordinator. It was really nice to have someone there to help us think through all of the little details beforehand (since we've never done this before!) and having a 'go-to' person the day of. We had weather forecasts of rain the day before - Nicola spoke with us and our venue to make sure there was a plan B, and made some suggestions that we would be happy with should plans need changing. The day of, when we still had bad weather predicted, Nicola again walked us through our options and checked in to see how we were doing. She added a lot of calm and perspective the day of when we needed to make our final decision... and thankfully we had the sun shining. Our party gave Nicola a run for her money... we had wedding crashers, someone got sick, and we ran out of alcohol (and she was the one who went to the liquor store and got us more!) but she remained calm and had a positive attitude the whole time. Glad we had her by our side the day of! -

Nicola was a godsend, and I am so incredibly grateful for all of the work she put into making our day so special. My husband and I were planning our Michigan wedding from New York, and Nicola was on the ground from day 1 to make sure that everything came together. She went to meet with various vendors, as necessary, and handled calls and appointments with our location vendor (which at times could get a little tricky - Nicola was great at keeping everyone happy and still making sure that my husband and I had enough flexibility to carry out our vision). We were so grateful for her help in recommending various vendors for floral arrangements, band, etc. Also, Nicola was great at working with my crazy work schedule - if I needed to talk to her in the early mornings or evenings, or even on the weekends, she always found time to be available. As we got closer to the wedding, I don't know what we would have done without her - she always had a contingency plan in case anything went awry, and came through at the last minute in so many ways to make sure that our event ran smoothly and without a hiccup. At the end of the day, our wedding was beautiful and we will treasure those memories forever, and I don't think it would have been possible (or at least so much more stressful) without Nicola. -

Using Simply Brilliant Events for our Month of Wedding services was the best decision we made while planning our wedding. With us living in NYC it was amazing to have someone on the ground in Michigan who we could consult with as we put together our wedding. Nicola's knowledge of the wedding scene in Ann Arbor was extremely valuable leading up to the wedding weekend. Then Ashley's experience and amazing attention to detail on the day of made the day of our wedding go as smoothly as we could have ever imagined.
Throughout the whole process Nicola and Ashley were there to help and made the process extremely easy. We were referred to Nicola by another couple who had a similarly fantastic experience and we can't thank them enough. From the intro on, she were always very responsive and easy to work with. Using the easy online system helped us to make sure we had everything in place leading up to the day.
When the day arrived, Ashley masterfully executed our vision even when everything didn't go exactly as planned. Having someone we could count on throughout the entire day who took care of all the little details helped to make it the best night of our lives.
We cannot thank Nicola and Ashley enough for all of the amazing work they did for our special day. -

My husband and I knew that we needed to have a wedding planner throughout the entire wedding process and we both knew Nicola would be the perfect fit for us. She helped my mom plan my sister's wedding back in 2014 and people, to this day, still rave about it. Having Nicola be apart of our special day was one of the best decisions we could have made. She was so easy to get ahold of and replied to emails/texts/phone calls very promptly. Good communication was very important to me and Nicola provided that throughout our entire year and a half of planning. She took care of everything - she communicated with all the vendors, had a thorough timeline of events, and reminded of me little details that I would have never even thought of. On the day of our wedding, I was so at ease knowing Nicola and her team were there to make our day run as smooth as possible. With a bridal party of 27 people, I was very nervous that the day could become unorganized and chaotic. Because of Nicola and her team, our wedding day was perfect and everything went as planned. Nicola helped make all of our wedding dreams come true! We initially sat down with her to discuss ‘day of coordinating service’, but after meeting her and realizing how much we were getting ready to take on, we knew we needed to hire her for ‘full-service coordination’. As someone who was working full-time, trying to plan a warehouse wedding where everything had to be brought in, the event wouldn’t have been do-able without the help of Nicola and her assistant. Nicola gave great recommendations for vendors to work with when we didn’t have someone particular in mind. There were SEVERAL barriers we had to overcome during the wedding process and we changed our mind SEVERAL times on the ceremony location, and every time I got in touch with Nicola about it, she was patient, positive and always gave advice/input. She put together multiple floorplans and was great about following up when other vendors would not return my calls. The day of the rehearsal she was there ready to help get everything set up and also helped our rehearsal run smoothly. My sister officiated our wedding and this was her first one and Nicola was able to give her some etiquette advice. The day of the wedding was completely stress free for myself, my mom, and my husband because Nicola and her staff were on site to take care of everything that came up. I would highly recommend Nicola and her team for any and all wedding planning services, you will not be disappointed! -

We chose the month-of planning with Nicola and it was the best investment I spent. She helped us with an overall plan, let me deal with the details, listened to all of my concerns throughout the entire year of planning and got into the details within the last 2 months. She delivered on more than just a wedding itinerary, she provided advice when I didn't know how to handle vendors, support when I was having difficulties dealing with family expectations and a plan fit for a queen to ensure that everything was taken care of throughout the entire rehearsal, wedding day and clean-up. The quality of service was beyond what I ever expected! -

My husband and I were married on July 22, 2017 and I can honestly say that Nicola and her staff are AMAZING! My husband and I had the most perfect wedding day and it was because we had Nicola to help plan every detail and execute a flawless day! Even from our initial phone consultation, I could tell that she was someone I could trust with all the logistics of our wedding. We hired her first for the Month of Services but realized that we would need help for the whole planning process and hired her full time.
She is detailed oriented and did not miss one single element! She provided Aisle Planner which is an extremely helpful tool that she uses. Aisle Planner was helpful in the way that everyone was on the same page. She went the extra mile to make sure that everything was accounted for and that our day would be more than what we had imagined. She is also extremely personable and down-to-earth. Her professionalism is admirable, too! Her responsiveness to our email and phone correspondence was so quick, and always accurate, we never felt alone! Nicola and her team were the ones behind the scene on our wedding day that made everything possible. We gave them SO much decor to set up, and they made it all look so beautiful, just like a fairy tale!
?Throughout the night, Nicola kept track of us and made sure we had whatever we needed.
Nicola will exceed all of your expectations, she will fight for you to make sure you're getting great deals, and she will coach you through every step of the way. With her, you are in great hands and literally have nothing to worry about. I could not have picked a better coordinator; she made all of our dreams come true! -

I don't even know where to start here. Nicola with Simply Brilliant Events is....simply brilliant! If you are looking for a planner in Michigan, look no further. Nicola is professional, polite, respectful, organized, knowledgeable, prepared, flexible and willing to roll with the punches. For example: say when the bride wants to wear an inflatable T-Rex costume to surprise the groom, Nicola goes for it!
We hired Nicola for her "Month Of" package, where she starts planning and organizing our wedding with us about 6 weeks before the date. She set us up with a planning website that kept us organized and on track. Even though we had hired her for just before the wedding, I was still able to ask questions about invite etiquette or if I needed assistance with vendor contracts; she was happy to help and was quick to respond.
If we could afford it, I'd have a wedding once a year, just to be able to hang out and planning a smashing party with Nicola at the helm! Thank you again for your outstanding service, professionalism and your ability to laugh along with us and roll with the punches! -

If there is one piece of advice I could give to a future bride it would be to hire a wedding planner. My husband and I live in NYC and his Aunt offered their lake house on Maceday Lake for our ceremony. We wanted to be as thrifty as could be for our wedding and I dismissed the idea of getting a wedding planner because I though that would be an unnecessary cost.
After trying to plan a wedding in a town I’ve never been to and three nervous breakdowns where I very seriously suggested to my husband that we should elope to save my sanity and lose the deposits on the vendors we had already booked, he suggested we get a wedding planner.
I looked at every bridal site to find the best of the best, and we Skyped with 4 different planners. I knew Nicola would be the one as soon as we spoke to her. She is the perfect mixture of professional and kind. We ended up getting her month planning services, which worked out perfectly for us, but if I could do it all over again I would have gotten her full service so she could help right at the start.
The ceremony we had was very DIY and Nicola was essential in thinking of the details my husband or I never thought of. There is a really great website included (AislePlanner) that you can start putting all the information in so it is in one place. The biggest reason you should hire Nicola is piece of mind. After meeting with her a month before the wedding I stopped panicking about all the details and started looking forward to it. I would recommend her and her incredibly thoughtful and capable assistants (we had Amanda and Stephanie help out at ours) to any couple getting married, not just a DIY wedding. It really made all the difference to know that my husband and I didn’t have to stress about the details on our big day and that our family didn’t have to do any work either. She will save you money and tears. Do yourself a HUGE favor and get her services immediately.

We used Amanda as a day of planner from Simply Brilliant (Nicola was already booked that day), and we were SUPER satisfied with her. She took care of everything we asked from her on the day of. Even though there were some minor hiccups she took care of them without me ever knowing! Loved her, and would highly recommend! -

Nicola at Simply Brilliant Events was fantastic. We used her “month of” planning package, which was just was we needed. Nicola created a very detailed wedding weekend timeline for us (and all of our vendors) and served as our coordinator on the day of the wedding (she also attended rehearsal). She was also available for a year leading up to the event to answer any planning questions we had via email.
On the day of, Nicola’s help was absolutely invaluable in coordinating the venue set-up and décor, communicating with all the other vendors, timing of everything from first look to first dance, and handling any unforeseen issues that came up.
Nicola gave us the opportunity to just relax and enjoy the wedding and know that everything was in good hands. I cannot recommend her services enough.

I found Simply Brilliant Events while researching wedding planners on TheKnot. I had interviewed 2 planners before I found Nicola. I watched one of her videos & was instantly attracted to her lovely accent. I expected her to be the Mary Poppins of wedding planning. She is so much more!
Michael & I chose to work with SBE for multiple reasons. After our interview, I truly believed she had an invested interest in us. It was important for our wedding be uniquely us, not a cookie cutter wedding of some planners go to vision. It was also important my planner not receive kick-backs from vendors. I wanted to make sure when we asked for a photographer, videographer, florist etc we received the best options, not one with financial incentives. Nicola addressed all my concerns up front & helped us in so many ways, including keeping my sanity intact!
I have listed a few ways SBE helped us stay calm & focus on what is most important; our relationship. 1 She kept us organized. 2 She kept us on track with a detailed to-do-list using aisle planner. 3 She managed our time appropriately. 4 She worked on our schedule. 5 She helped us create a wedding that was true to us & our personalities. Our wedding was more immaculate than we could have ever imagined.
2 of the most wonderful things about working with Nicola are her flexibility & patients. I would find something I liked one day & the next something completely different. She rolled with it, but also kept me focused.
I highly recommend Nicola to anyone I know planning a wedding. It is very difficult to express in words the amount of adoration & respect we have for Nicola. We are forever indebted to her & the services she provided to us.

Nicola at Simply Brilliant Events was outstanding. She did full planning service for my wedding in September and I couldn't have picked a more perfect person to help me plan. Originally I wanted someone to just help me when the day of but then the more I started to look at vendors and coordinators, the more I wanted a full service planner. This helped me maintain my professional and personal schedule while at the same time still have first and final say in my wedding planning process. I had a clear vision on what I wanted our ceremony and reception to look like and Nicola helped me achieve just that. She made the entire planning process easy and lead me through to each vendor and decision with ease. She is the reason why I really got to enjoy the entire planning process. I had some crazy ideas, things that haven't ever been done before at weddings or maybe done differently, and she made them happen. Most importantly, she was always on my team. That was so crucial for me as a bride because its such a high pressure time. as a bride you get a lot of stress from your family, friends, groom and grooms family and friends, and its hard to tell them all no or get your opinion in. Nicola always made me the first priority and would always ask me "what do YOU want?". She kept my wants and needs a priority and that was so helpful during the entire process. The other thing that I loved about Nicola when I first met her was her charm and professionalism. I knew she was the perfect planner for me because she really genuinely loved planning weddings. She did it all day everyday, and she has vast experience, so that's what really made my decision so easy! My wedding was to die for and Nicola and her team were Simply Brilliant! -

Nicola at Simply Brilliant Events was absolutely amazing! I can't say enough good things about her and the works she does. At first I had thought maybe I could do all of the planning on my own, but after getting a referral from a close friend, I contacted Nicola and I'm so glad that I did. There is no way I could have planned our dream wedding without her. Everything turned out perfectly and having her alleviated so much of the stress beforehand and on the day of the wedding. She is unbelievably organized and was so helpful in all of the planning. I felt so comfortable knowing that she had everything under control. We got so many compliments all night and several people telling us that it was the most beautiful wedding they had ever attended. Nicola played such a big role in that and we couldn’t be more appreciative of all that she did for us. It was such a relief knowing that she was behind the scenes making sure everything ran smoothly. It allowed us to enjoy our special day with friends and family. Her expertise was invaluable to us and we were so grateful to have her guidance in every detail. My husband and I were married in MI, but we live in MD. When we started planning our wedding, we quickly realized we were going to need some help. I found Simply Brilliant Events while searching different websites online. Although I wasn't sure if everyone saw the vision we had for our wedding, I knew she would work hard to do everything I needed. Her strong work ethic and constant communication kept me on my toes and kept reconfirming that we had made the correct choice in hiring Nicola. The day of the wedding was overwhelming for everyone. Nicola and her staff had their work cut out for them. They pulled it off brilliantly with patience and control. Thanks to Nicola, all of the hiccups that occurred throughout our day, which are bound to happen, were handled quickly and quietly. One of the most important aspects of my wedding was having Nicola and her team by my side throughout the whole process. The first step I would recommend anyone to do, is hire Nicola for their special day. It was one of the best decisions I could make, and she was worth every penny. I was unsure at first of whether or not I needed a planner to help me, I figured I had enough time leading up to the wedding to plan and organize everything myself. When you think about it though, and realize how much time and money is being put into such a special day, its necessary to have a planner there the day of to help with any minor details that will end up coming up and to help coordinate the timeline of your wedding to make sure the bride and groom with their parents are able to enjoy the day! Nicola and her team went out of their way to make sure I had help with ANYTHING I needed leading up to the wedding and for the day of. They made me feel so calm and assured that everything was going to be perfect for the most important day of my life! I am so happy with all the work Nicola has done not just for my husband and I, but for the mothers and fathers, so that they could relax the day of enjoy the special day too. Simply Brilliant Events - excellent, outstanding, and just the best! Nicola was a pleasure to work with and so knowledgeable! Nicola was always available for questions and even gave us an extra meeting before the wedding to go over the entire timeline. The wedding venue was a blank space, requiring everything to be brought in and vendors coordinated. Nicola and her team did that professionally and the event went smoothly. Kara, and her assistant, were on hand during the entire event and they were amazing and are the reason the day of was a success. -

One of the best decisions we made! We inquired about Simply Brilliant Events to help us plan our out-of-state wedding in Downtown Detroit. Nicola is professional, honest, and works with your budget to find suitable vendors. For our wedding she provided services for the Simply Brilliant Month of Planning package. Her recommendations on vendors, etiquette, and timeline were invaluable to us. Each vendor that we utilized from Nicola's recommendations was impeccable (florist, photographer, lighting, DJ entertainment, make-up). She keeps you on track during the planning process. Reminding you of small details that you may not have thought of and then ensuring that every other small detail you've been worrying about will be taken care of on the day. Working with Nicola was a pleasure. Just two weeks before the wedding, I started to get very stressed out (as most brides do). Trying to figure out when I am going to be able to set up, who is going to be able to help me, how long will it take? I was stressed. I met with my photographers and they referred Simply Brilliant Events to coordinate my wedding. So, two weeks before the wedding I called in panic that she would not be available but she was!! Finally, a weight lifted off my shoulders. We met a couple times before the wedding and spoke about everything. I felt so comfortable leaving her in charge of the setting up and coordinating the whole ceremony and reception. Without her and her assistant I would have not known what to do. She made sure ever vendor was there when they should have, the DJ was announcing every detail, had the correct placement of bridal party, that everything was happening at the time it should have, she went and got Tupperware for all of our leftover food, cleaned up all decorations after reception, you name it she did it! I was so pleased and absolutely recommend her. -

Nicola was amazing. I'm so glad I followed my heart and hired her as my 'day of' planner. I instantly clicked with her from our first conversation and she put me completely at ease. She came so highly recommended and she surpassed any expectations I had. She is so very detailed which is so important. She took care of everything on our special day. My husband and I were able to just enjoy every moment as Nicola handled everything that day for us. The reception room was amazing. She made sure that everything was set up perfectly. To see your plan, all of your ideas come together and not have to worry about it is priceless. I had planned an outdoor ceremony and it rained all day. Finally, an hour before my ceremony, sadly I had to call it and have it moved indoors. Ten minutes prior to ceremony time, the sun came out in full force. I was bummed because I had already made the decision to move it inside. When I got to the venue, Nicola came out and asked what I would like to do. I felt bad because so much work had already been done to rearrange everything. She told me it was my day & I should have the wedding if my dreams. She had the ceremony moved back outside in less than ten minutes. I was able to walk down that beautiful outdoor path that I had daydreamed for so many months. It was everything I dreamed of and more. Perfection. I would never have been able to have the day as special as it was without Nicola. My mother, who thought hiring a planner was 'ridiculous' even said that Nicola was amazing and my day wouldn't have been the same without her. I can't thank her enough for everything she did. -

We hosted over 850 guests at our wedding and our event planner was "simply brilliant". When my husband and I became engaged in the fall of 2014, we knew that with full-time jobs, it would be impossible to plan our wedding on our own. Nine months before we married, we interviewed event planners. Nicola Wilson of Simply Brilliant Events was the standout candidate and we hired her to help us with preliminary planning and to step in with intensive assistance in the month before our wedding. Nicola listened carefully to what we wanted and recommended vendors. We interviewed photographers, florists, linen/table providers and caterers from her recommendations, chose our vendors and were not disappointed. In the months before the wedding, Nicola was available for any questions. When our guest RSVP list topped 850, Nicola toured and studied the church and reception area and made specific plans for the movement of guests and the placement of tables and serving stations. She met with us to plan the day and provided schedules. Nicola was present at our wedding rehearsal and had already, that day, met with vendors and begun to set up for the large event. On the day of the wedding, she and an assistant were present before we arrived. Nicola handled all interaction with vendors on the day of the wedding. My fiance and I had no worries or concerns about possible problems; we trusted Nicola to put out any "fires". The wedding ceremony was beautiful. The reception, with Nicola's organizational skills and eye for elegance, meant hundreds of people were severed food and drink efficiently in a beautiful setting. I am grateful for Nicola's experienced insight and confident guidance. She truly loves making the big events in a person's life special. Her professionalism, patience, and encouragement were welcome gifts as we prepared for our wedding day. Nicola and her staff are Simply Brilliant!
When my daughter and future son-in-law asked to have their wedding ceremony and reception in our backyard, there was no hesitation on our part to say yes. However, after thinking through all that it would entail, I realized a wedding planner was needed. I didn’t mind the preplanning but what I did not want to miss was being a Mom on my daughter’s wedding day. This is where Nicola and Simply Brilliant Events stepped in. We agreed to Nicola’s Brilliant Month of Planning Package. I contacted and signed contracts with all the vendors in the 8 months preceding the wedding but Nicola was always accessible if I had any questions or in need of advice during that time. The month prior Nicola became involved with finalizing details with vendors and creating a time line for all involved. Putting together an outdoor tented wedding on your own requires an incredible amount of coordination. Nicola made herself available days in advance so that she had a thorough understanding of the vision my daughter and I had created. From the rehearsal the night before to the day of, Nicola’s calm demeanor was such an asset. As I got to go to the salon with my daughter and the bridal party, Nicola and her staff were already hard at work beginning with the final set-up. In coordination with our florist and the vintage prop vendor, she created a magical wedding day. As a side note, there was the threat of rain the whole day. Nicola mentioned that she had never had an outdoor wedding ceremony ever rained on. This is still true! No rain on our ceremony! Thank you Nicola!

We had a wonderful time working with Nicola for my daughter's wedding. She did exactly what I was hoping for when we realized we would be needing a wedding planner for our event. She is extremely professional but could "go with the flow" with our personalities and ideas. My main concerns were to take the worry off of my shoulders, to create a memorable night of dinner and dancing for the most important day of my daughter's life, and to enjoy the big day. In the planning process, Nicola assured me that she is the one to take care of everything so I would not need to (of course with much planning and action ahead of the big day). She combs through every detail well before the event and comes up with a timeline for all of the happenings, and makes sure before, during and after the event that all is taken care of. I knew the most important thing for our family would be for us to enjoy the day - and we did - and had all confidence that Nicola would take care of everything - and she did. We had many moving parts with our reception and Nicola made everything go smoothly. And our estimated guest count went from 200 during most of the relatively short planning period, to well over 300 in actual attendance, in the month before we needed final numbers. Nicola barely flinched and had it all worked out. Our event was a tented formal dinner at our family farm. In planning our "dinner and dancing" I knew the type of feel we were looking for. It was a great combination of formality with the fun and rustic feel of the farm - looking back, realizing it was quite a feat and was pulled off wonderfully. Thank you Nicola for helping with what turned out to be a fabulous and memorable celebration. Many, many compliments from our guests - and most importantly, our daughter, who enjoyed her wonderful day. -

I highly recommend Simply Brilliant Events to anyone looking for a wedding/other event planner. Nicola is extremely knowledgable about the event planning industry. She connected us with great vendors and gave us countless ideas and options. She kept my mom and I on track while planning our 300 guest wedding in a short amount of time (3 months!). I called Simply Brilliant events after seeing a few good reviews. I was looking for a day-of wedding planner that was affordable and flexible and Nicola at Simply Brilliant was great. She was willing to help us with anything and everything the day of the wedding, including pull together centerpieces. (In the end, we opted for a florist, but she didn't blink an eye at having to do that.) We had two meetings at the venue before the wedding and they helped us organize ourselves. Nicola thought of things we would never have considered. Those meetings were incredibly valuable. She also brings on other planners and interns when necessary. Nicola did that for our wedding and we were very happy with that. All in all a great experience and affordable. -

Nicola served as the day-of-coordinator for my April 2015 wedding and she was fantastic! I was a busy bride working from a distance and my choice to bring her on was to insure that all of the details I spent so much time planning would be executed as I intended. We met in person a few months before the wedding to discuss all of the details and were then in contact over email until meeting in person again for a venue walk through the week of the wedding. She created a very detailed timeline for the day of the wedding to keep everyone on track. Nicola ran our ceremony rehearsal and it was done very efficiently. The day of the wedding she worked to arrange the decor in both the ceremony and reception spaces. She then was very effective in crowd control of guests, vendors and wedding party alike. I would highly recommend her to any bride looking to keep their sanity in check with a very well organized, efficient and cheery coordinator. -

Nicola was wonderful! We can't say enough good things about her….she was professional and on top of everything and really helped us make our wedding dreams come to life. She really went above-and-beyond many times to help ensure our event was the success that it was. Honestly, I would have been a wreck on the big day if it weren't for Nicola. Just knowing she was there handling every little detail meant I could relax and enjoy my big day. I am a very detail oriented person and she was even more-so which was so appreciated. I knew no details would be left out and felt 100% comfortable with Nicola behind the wheel of the day. She also helped us plan things we hadn't thought about which was a huge help. Like tipping vendors….oops! Good thing she gave us the heads up or that one would have slipped past us. And knowing she would handle all the day-of questions/details/vendor issues was worth its weight in gold. I can't imagine trying to worrying about all those details on your wedding day! All in all we highly recommend Nicola, and her assistant Dawn was a delight as well. Thank you so much, Nicola! -

Simply AMAZING! Working with Nicola was an absolute delight. We did a month of planning with her and she was our day of coordinator, but offered so much more along the way. I will say I think it’s super important to have a professional on your side, especially the day of the wedding! I believe any cost is well worth it to ensure that you have a flawless day, but Nicola is VERY reasonable and offers payment installations instead of one big check due right away. From the beginning, we worked together to think through the big day down to the last detail. She is very down to earth, but also has a significant amount of knowledge about the wedding industry, as well as some great connections. Nicola has great relationships with local vendors and was able to recommend companies that would suit all of our needs. She handled everything, from contracts and payments to helping a groomsman fix the hem on his pants. She made a timeline that was given to everyone in our party so they were all aware of what was expected. She also gave the time line to the vendors and touched base with them which was a HUGE help! Our wedding had a lot of moving pieces and she and her team executed them flawlessly. Nicola always responded quickly to the many questions we had throughout the planning process and was extremely organized. On my wedding day I knew she was in charge and trusted she would handle any issues that arose. And she did. It was a wonderful, stress-free day thanks to her. We received many compliments from our guests on how smoothly the day went I also appreciated her responsiveness to unexpected occurrences. She didn't stop at planning; making sure everyone involved knew to contact her directly instead of me, if there was ever a problem or incident we never even knew! Nicola has a dedication to her client's overall happiness and peace of mind. We highly recommend Simply Brilliant Events, I urge you to hire her if you want your special day to be perfect!

Brilliant Service
Because of Nicola Wilson from Simply Brilliant Events I as the mother of the bride was able to enjoy my daughter’s wedding. From the very start she was able to understand my daughter’s ideas and recommend great vendors that were within our budget. She always responded very quickly to any questions we had and gave us new ideas or suggestions.
On the day I felt I could relax and enjoy the day and visit with all our guests especially the ones from out of town. The day was beautiful and so very memorable and that is thanks to Nicola, it would have been very different if I had not used a wedding planner.

What can I say? Nicola was absolutely brilliant. As soon as we met, I just knew we had made the right choice. She quickly got onto our wavelength and suggested some brilliant ideas. We just let her take care of the many details while we relaxed and got on with our preparations.
Nicola kept in touch throughout the weeks leading up to the Big Day, guiding us through procedures and dealing with any queries we had. The wedding day was wonderful and just knowing Nicola was there all the time to deal with any hitches, made it so enjoyable and carefree.
When my daughter announced her engagement, I had been a teeny bit apprehensive about all the organization and planning involved, but with Simply Brilliant's help and expertise the whole event was just perfect. Thank you so much Nicola, you are very special. -

Nicola was recomended to me as a wedding planner and I am SO glad that I had her to be a part of our wedding. She went above and beyond with making sure my vendors were on top of everything, making sure our bridal party knew what and when everything was going on, and made the most amazing timeline for the day of the wedding. She set up my reception at Portofino, which was gorgeous.. She was very good at listening to my little details. As a busy bride, I would send her a little text here, and an email there..whether it was an idea, a change in plans, (or a change in chair covers, cake, etc.) she immediately noted the changes..she is amazing. so sweet and kind as well.. my guests loved her. Nicola's professionalism and organization was top notch which resulted in me being able to completely enjoy my daughter's special day with no worries or concerns. There was so much attention to detail and everything that was in her control was absolutely seamless!!!
We had a large Bridal Party and over 600 guest in attendance. Nicola remained calm, cool, collected and efficient throughout the entire planning process and most importantly on the Big Day!

I hired Nicola to help plan my wedding. While it was small with only 9 people including me and the groom, I was a bit of a clueless bride and really needed help. Nicola was perfect. She was lovely from the very beginning and gave me great advice on wedding venues, flowers, photographers, and places to stay. I basically hired everyone she recommended and was thrilled with how everything turned out.
Nicola was very attentive and I felt that she gave me the same level of service as she would have with a much bigger wedding. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking to hire a planner. I thought Nicola was worth every penny and couldn't have gotten married without her help. -

We loved working with Nicola and her assistant, Ashley. They were both very professional and easy to work with. They were efficient at taking notes and responding to emails. They worked and communicated very well with our vendors. The checklist on the simply brilliant website was very helpful in planning our wedding. On our wedding day, Ashley was absolutely wonderful coordinating everything with our families, our decorations, our vendors and our wedding party. We felt at ease knowing Ashley knew the entire plan and responded quickly to any obstacles that popped up on the day. -

Nicola did a fantastic job with our wedding. Nicola's strengths were definitely her organization and her focus on detail, her hard work ethic, and her ability to follow up with vendors and confirm everything. On the wedding day and rehearsal she did an excellent job making sure everyone was doing what they were supposed to do, keeping the environment non-stressful and most of all handling any issues that went wrong. I have a large family and it is hard to get everyone on time and she helped make the event a lot less chaotic. My husband comes from a different religion and culture as I do and she was very professional in getting everybody together and on the same page and explaining the whole process so that we were all ready to go for the event. Nicola is very professional and did a fantastic job recommending vendors and continuing to contact them throughout the process to ensure everything was confirmed and ready to go. -

Simply Brilliant Events helped us plan our October 2016 "Housewarming Party/Surprise Wedding". Nicola and Dawn were very professional, prompt with responses to questions, offered suggestions for vendors, met at our home (event locations) on several occasions. Our situation was unique and we found their services most helpful the day before and day of "acting as catering" until the surprised was revealed. Dawn spent 8 hours at our home doing everything I asked of her. We highly recommend Simply Brilliant Events! -

Nicola was very helpful in planning our wedding. I really appreciate everything that she did for us throughout the planning process, including vendor recommendations and design input. We had a hiccup with our venue, and Nicola helped us to resolve the issue quickly and professionally. The only drawback that we had was on the day of our wedding. We felt like for a wedding party and guest list of our size, that we needed a little extra support on that day. There were a few issues that I had that day, and didn't have a lot of support to assist with that. Other than that, everything was absolutely beautiful. Her team did a great job setting everything up, the florals and design of the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception were absolutely breathtaking. I'm so thankful for all that Nicola did for us to make our wedding truly beautiful. -

After planning plenty of work events, I knew that for our wedding, a coordinator was a must have to take care of all the small details and people moving. Our wedding was non-traditional and we wanted to make sure our day was a true reflection of us. When we first found Nicola, we were in a panic about finding a venue. She was helpful in providing suggestions, and then meeting with our dream venue when it was finally secured. We moved forward with a month of/day of contract with Simply Brilliant. Nicola was kind, patient and organized throughout the process. We met twice, she reviewed the vendor contracts we secured and we were thrilled to use aisle planner to keep all the details in one place.
On the day of, she picked up all our decorations, made sure the room was set up beautifully and reminded us to eat! She was knowledgeable about all the potential challenges a couple faces on their wedding day and was thoughtful in taking special care of us as well as our guests. While our day turned out wonderfully thanks to Simply Brilliant, and there were a few takeaways: (1) we were clear about our vision to have a non-traditional wedding, however at times Nicola made dismissive comments about our choices; (2) we had to deal with vendor issues days before the wedding that could easily have been addressed earlier with more foresight and attention from Simply Brilliant; (3) many of the day-of details felt through the cracks leaving us/my mother/my friends to tie up loose ends, particularly at the end of the wedding when we were left to pack up last minute items in our car and drive it back to the hotel (4) upon bringing these issues to her attention, Nicola sent a series of emails in response that ended with “I wish you had talked to me about these on the day, you both seemed very happy.” To us, the final moments of our wedding is the wrong time to discuss issues. We found this unprofessional and ultimately negatively impacted our impression of Simply Brilliant.
