A Great Hire!

Tara was amazing! We could not have had a successful wedding without her. She helped us navigate through COVID and reschedule all of our vendors. On the day of the wedding her service helped save us from disaster. She remained calm throughout the process and was so reassuring so it was like she was a member of our family. Best Wedding Planner In DMV Area

Where do I even start? Tara planned our wedding in DC in October 2021. We worked with Tara for nearly two years to plan our dream wedding. Tara is one of the most knowledgeable professionals in the wedding planning industry and knows all of the ins and outs of the process and the best vendors in the area. Both my husband and I have extremely demanding jobs, so we needed someone who kept us on track. Lucky for us, we had the best planner in the DC area. Tara vetted all of our potential vendors, set up interviews, reviewed and provided feedback on vendor contracts, handled the design, assembly, and mailing of our invitations, designed and coordinated the entire wedding from head to toe, coordinated the collection of guest vaccination records, and so much more. Tara also guided us through our difficult decision to postpone the wedding from our original date due to COVID, and handled amendments to all vendor contracts. Tara was there for everything--from our engagement photos to picking up my wedding dress. When you hire Tara, you’re not only getting a professional and knowledgeable planner-you’re getting a close confidant who will support you throughout the stressful process of planning a wedding. We would rate Tara 100 stars if we could --We cannot recommend Tara enough.

No Other Choice! Highly Recommend

Where to even begin?! As we began the process of wedding planning we went back and forth about how much planning services we wanted as we were are fairly organized ourselves and we were able to procure some of the vendors on our own. One thing we did know, is that we would want a day-of coordinator to ensure the logistics of the wedding day went off as planned.

We discovered Perfect Planning through our search, and honestly, we couldn't have made a better decision. From our first introduction with Tara, we knew we were working with a seasoned professional who knew what they were doing and would help us get to the finish line. Tara made the wedding planning process so easy for us, providing us every bit of guidance we would need. Moreover, she took the time to listen to what we wanted and insured that vision was clearly articulated to the entire vendor team. Speaking of the vendor team, Tara helped fill in all the missing pieces of our team by providing expert recommendations that fit our vision (and more importantly, our budget).

When it came to the day of, there was nothing we had to worry of short of saying "I Do". Tara and the Perfect Planning team perfectly executed on our big day, ensuring we didn't have to worry about a thing. Our family and friends were also very complimentary of Tara and her team as they observed her professionalism, organization, and execution throughout our wedding day.

There really aren't enough words to express our sincerest gratitude and appreciation to Tara for making #ALawrenceLoveStory a reality we couldn't have imagined in our wildest dreams. Our wedding day was everything we desired and more and we know without a doubt that it would not have been possible without Perfect Planning.

A joy to work with!

I was drawn to Tara and Perfect Planning after meeting them at a vendor event. What lovely, bubbly personalities! Everyone was so warm and down to earth, and genuinely wanted to help. I didn’t feel like they were trying to recruit anyone or sell me anything, they were just being themselves.

Tara was wonderful to work with. I was a deer in headlights for a lot of the planning, and she never made me feel like I was dumb or silly for not knowing things. She gave me many great suggestions, and when I had trouble communicating with vendors, she was there to help get things back in order. Her responses were always timely, her organizational skills were flawless, and I VERY much appreciated her client workbook. It had everything I needed to do, when I needed to do it, and spreadsheets for me to fill out once these said things got done. Truly a life saver, especially when you have a million things going on in your head and just can’t keep track of it all.

Despite all the pre-wedding worries, even up to the morning of the event, Tara and her team were always calm, collected, and had solutions for every problem. Every bride gets nervous about how things are going to turn out for the big day, but I can tell you this for sure - my wedding was flawless. And I couldn’t have done it without their help and expertise!

If you want someone who is easy to talk to/ down to earth, but is also organized and really gets things done, I highly recommend Tara and the Perfect Planning team. I started as a client and left feeling like family. Thank you!

The Best Decision We Made!

This review is well over due! Tara Melvin is AMAZING! We were on the fence about hiring a wedding planner and are so happy we did with Tara Melvin and her Team. It was the best decision we made! Our special day was literally stress free. Tara is accommodating to your schedule, professional and makes sure the details you really want are discussed and well orchestrated. We had a fairly large wedding with 180 guests and the day was smoother then ever. We were able to enjoy our special day with our friends and family. I would absolutely recommend Perfect Planning to other couples!

Top notch service and expertise!

Perfect planning events was exactly what I needed for planning my wedding. Being in the military and planning initially from overseas, the team was a breath of life saving air! All of the vendors recommended were the best of the best! She worked within my budget and made my experience more than I could have imagined. Tara and Perfect Planning Events are the real deal. This was hands-down the best decision we made during our wedding planning process. Tara and her team are professional, attentive, and courteous, and absolutely the organizers and advocates you want between you and the rest of your vendors on your big day.

We live in Ohio and were getting married in Virginia. As an out of town couple, we knew we needed a coordinator with experience, particularly in the VA and greater-DC area; someone who would be flexible and able to work with us and our busy schedules; and we wanted someone professional, but fun. Tara was all of these things. She is super responsive over email, was always open to having meetings via Skype, and she regularly made herself available for appointments after hours, and on the weekends if she was free.

Her communication, particularly on the day-of, was awesome. Our ceremony spot was outdoors, but the day of our wedding it was pouring rain. The venue was pushing Tara for permission to implement our rain plan to set-up our Plan B ceremony location. But Tara and I had spoken at-length about my priorities and she understood how important it was to me that we stick with our Plan A outdoor ceremony spot, if at all possible. Tara handled all of the negotiations and back-and-forth with our venue as the weather changed throughout the day. She discreetly liaised with the venue's set-up staff, and all of our other vendors, to keep everyone updated as our plans evolved with the weather. Ultimately, she negotiated with our venue and secured us an extra-late set-up time at our Plan A ceremony location, and everything went off without a hitch.

The team assisting Tara on our wedding day was just as amazing as Tara, which, in retrospect, shouldn’t have come as a surprise. I’ll spare everyone the details; suffice to say, on two separate occasions the day-of, I was brought to tears by how conscientious and sweet her team members were. Perfect Planning rocks.

Tara is an amazing wedding planner. She was so kind, helpful, friendly and professional that it made every aspect of planning our wedding easier. Her staff on the day of the wedding were fantastic, they took care of every detail. I cannot say enough how AWESOME Tara and her team were. Leading up to the wedding Tara went above and beyond to answer any questions and quell my anxieties. No matter what time of day or night she was there to answer questions, review contracts and come up with solutions for the last minute catastrophes that happen with a wedding. The day of her team was seamless... if anything went wrong I did not know it... It was beautiful and fun and despite my trying to manage it.. when I finally relaxed and just got married I had blast. Everyone told us how amazing the party was and I owe so much of that to Tara and her team!!!! Thank you Thank you Thank you .. I almost wish I could get married 50 more times just to have to work with Tara again....

What can we say about Tara and her team at Perfect Planning except that they were ... Perfect! We selected Tara's "Day Of" planning and it was everything we wanted and more! Tara's professionalism and organization kept us focused and on-track right up to the day of the wedding. Speaking of our big day, afterward we told Tara we hardly knew what she and her team did all night! While this sounds odd as a compliment, consider this ... our wedding was legitimately perfect. Everything went off without a single hiccup! Throughout the day, we hardly interacted with Tara and her team. They took care of everything that needed to be addressed and left us free to do what we wanted most -- enjoy the day to the fullest with our friends and family! When questions popped up from vendors or our guests, Tara and her team were on it with solutions before anyone had a chance to worry! For example, when Tara found out a very close family member fell ill and wasn't able to make our wedding, she and her staff set up a live feed YouTube channel that day so we could live-stream the ceremony for them to watch!!! If you are looking for a planner you will be hard pressed to find anyone better than Tara and Perfect Planning Events!!!!!

Tara provided us with planning services, assisted us with vendor, venue recommendations and day-of planning and coordination.

My wife is a nurse and my job requires unusual hours, so we both knew that setting aside the proper time necessary for our wedding was going to be difficult. After meeting with several planners, we ultimately chose Tara. During the wedding planning process, it is very important to find someone with excellent attention to detail. You definitely want the person guiding you and telling you what to do to be someone you can get along with in terms of personality and temperament.

As my wife and I have odd schedules and we were not always readily available, we found that Tara was flexible and worked tirelessly to keep us on track and on budget. Whenever anything out of the ordinary would arise, Tara would communicate with us and formulate workable solutions before they ever became true problems.

When the big day came, it was all downhill. The impeccable planning paid off, our wedding was the first wedding I have ever known to start on time. Even when the weather was not cooperating, Tara and the staff kept everything rolling. Everyone was enjoying themselves and most important my bride was never stressed over anything.

Tara and her staff went above and beyond on behalf of our wedding more times than we could count. When the dust settled and I think about the ease of our ceremony and level of service that was shown, I felt guilty that we were not paying more. That is the highest praise I can possibly give for priceless service.

My husband & I got engaged on 04/09/14. Fast forward to 2015. After a year of researching locations, venues, budgets we still hadn't made any progress with our wedding. We knew we would need the help of a wedding planner to help us make these important decisions. We needed someone that was organized, detail oriented & readily available by email. My husbands' job requires unusual hours & as a nurse it's almost impossible for me to communicate with the outside world during my shifts.

After researching numerous planners online we finally came across Perfect Planning Events. During our 1st meeting Tara listened to all of our concerns. The very next day she sent us a proposal detailing her services tailored to our needs along with a preliminary budget spreadsheet. This coupled with the discussion from our 1st meeting had us sold. She helped to put our minds at ease & we started to feel the weight of the wedding lift from our shoulders.

Tara assisted us with EVERYTHING !!! She came up with recommendations for floral, linen, transportation & cake vendors. She arranged meetings with them, drew up contracts & even helped us to monitor all of our payment schedules.

Tara was always 3 steps ahead of whatever inevitable planning bumps that came along the way. She is so well versed in the wedding industry that she informed me of when the store that was selling my wedding dress was going out of business well before the store. Instead of this info causing me to panic her early notice allowed me time to coordinate with my mom (who was helping me pay for the dress) & the store to come up with an updated payment plan.

I wasn't the most detail oriented decisive bride. No matter how long it took for me to make a decision, Tara remained patient & continued to provide her guidance & expertise. She understood exactly what we wanted & executed it better than what we could have hoped. We highly recommend Tara & her team to any couple looking for wedding planning assistance.

I booked Tara and her team for our wedding on the 2nd of October. I planned the majority of my wedding but booked Tara for the Day of planning. I'm so glad I did. Tara and her team were incredibly responsive and professional. I did not feel stressed or worried about the day. Tara took care of everything and being someone with Type-A tendencies I did not feel pressured to "take control" ... it actually felt great to not be "in charge" and I trusted Tara and her entire team 100%. If you are a bride and groom looking for a wedding planner - call Tara! If you are debating on if you should hire a wedding planner -- call Tara. If I had to do it over again, I probably would have had Tara plan the entire event. The service I received was excellent and would highly recommend without hesitation. Perfect Planning Events was on a list of preferred vendors from my wedding venue and they exceeded my expectations. Tara is extremely knowledgeable, personable, and recommended vendors that I eventually used on my wedding day and to help plan the honeymoon. The day of our wedding was FLAWLESS. If there was one thing guests were raving about, it was about how amazingly organized our wedding was. Many even said it was the most well organized wedding they had ever been to. With my husband and I's horrible work schedules, I don't think we could have done it without Tara. We were late to numerous meetings where Tara had to excuse our absence, and she never once made us feel bad about it. From all the chaos of planning and whenever I needed last minute changes, she was very easy to reach. She's very well versed in the industry and knew just what to recommend.

Tara recommend an amazing officiant for us, and we couldn't have asked for a more incredible person to marry us. After the wedding, a lot of people wanted both Tara and the officiant's information for their upcoming weddings.

In addition to the wedding planning, I had a lady in waiting provided by Tara. Kendra was fantastic about getting us food, coffee, mimosas and anything else we needed day of. I never had any worries about where I needed to be and where, and neither did the guests. I was blown away by how well timed and orchestrated everything was. Tara's assistants were very flexible and when I decided to hand out favors, they were right there to help. I felt very well taken care of.

Any mishaps that happened or any unexpected situations and I didn't even know until the next day. Tara did an incredible job of making us have a peaceful/stress free day and also ensuring our guests were well tended to.

Thank you so much Tara for such a wonderful experience! We couldn't have pulled this off without you!

Working with Tara Melvin and Perfect Planning was the best decision we made in planning our wedding. Her vendor recommendations were excellent and she was outstanding asset in negotiating contract details. Our wedding was large and had a lot of moving parts—Tara expertly juggled them all. Tara and staff at Perfect Planning events were a dependable and organized, fun, and flexible staff to work with Tara. From our first meeting I felt that Tara was organized and had the leadership to help finance and plan the wedding of our dreams. Tara listened to what we wanted, but also used her creativity and experience to suggest ways to enhance the day not only for us but for our guests as well. The day of our wedding ran smoothly, there was nothing for me to worth about as a bride and our guests are still raving about how well our day was put together. Ms. Melvin was very helpful in every way. She is very personable, professional and had unlimited resources and referrals available to us. We decided on a sunday brunch after the wedding day at the last minute, and Ms. Melvin made everything perfect for us. This was not a part of our original proposal and she made everything happen within a moments notice.

Working with Tara at Perfect Planning and her team was the best decision I made during the planning process. We chose to go with her full package which mean that Tara was with us the entire way: from finding the venue, to the dj, and cake baker Tara had great connections and suggestions. My husband is in the army and was stationed in Texas during year that we were engaged and only made it home for a few short visits. Tara was able to schedule vendor meetings and the all important tasting around his schedule--which was truly a blessing.

I am not as detailed oriented bride as others may be, so I gave Tara the general vision and she executed every detail flawlessly. She provided advice, guidance, and friendship the entire time. Right after the Black Bride Bridal Brunch in NYC, we received a notification from Tara Melvin, CEO of Perfect Planning Events in Washington, DC stating if we ever come to the Washington, DC area to do a bridal lunch, she would love to be the event planner to organize and create this fabulous event. Tara’s inquiry was timely as we were in the process of looking for an event planner to help coordinate the next stop of our National Bridal Brunch Tour, which just happened to be in the Nations Capital. We quickly did our research and found that Tara has planned numerous events from weddings to corporate events and fundraisers. She also serves as President of the Association of Wedding Professionals of Greater Washington, DC., and is a former member of the Association of Bridal Consultants. Hands down, Tara was the one who took my ideas of my 50th birthday celebration and manifested them into reality.

As one who plans and executes weddings and events, I know and understand the level of detail and work involved in putting together an event. I did not want to stress or spend my 50th birthday party running around making sure things were right; I wanted to be served so I hired Perfect Planning after much causative research and could not find anyone who topped her level of professionalism.

Tara orchestrated the birthday party I dreamed of, it was so much fun and I felt like I was First Lady of the United States! Friends and family are still talking about "The Tracy Experience".

Tara recommended things that added that special touch that I didn't even think of. She is absolutely creative, detailed oriented, sharp, and have a network of vendors if you need. I would without a doubt recommend Tara and her team to assist you if you have an event to host.

If you don't want to stress about it, just leave that to Perfect Planning, they'll do it with a smile.

Perfect planning was totally AMAZING. They worked with me to big my dream anniversary celebration to life. We had the event at our farm and it was country/rustic chic. From chandeliers in the barn to flowers atop the wine barrels everything was perfect. Our guests felt honored to be apart of this special day as they were treated extremely professionally and the team ensured everyone had what they needed. Every detail was accounted for. They even produced/crafted and handed painted a very special sign for the event from an idea I shared. I would recommend this team for any event. They made very thoughtful suggestions about how to enhance/ improve things but never stirred away from my vision. They made it better than I could have ever imagined. Simply wow! We were feeling so overwhelmed with the whole process until we met Tara. She took our fragmented puzzle pieces and made a beautiful image out of them. She handled everything, from contracts and payments to helping us pick better chairs and linens to compliment the environment. She didn't stop at planning; she made sure the entire day went smoothly. Making sure everyone involved knew to contact her directly as apposed to us, if there was ever a problem or incident we never even knew! But what really got me was the secret service ear pieces. The ceremony wasn't just perfectly timed, it was orchestrated with the precision of Ocean's 11. On her ear piece with her entire team, she made sure the right song was played at the right moment, the right people walked down the isle with the right timing, etc. She even made sure we got a moment to sit down together and enjoy the food. I felt like a deer in headlights the entire day but she made sure I put one foot in front of the other and had a great time! Not only do I recommend Perfect Planning, I urge you to hire her if you want your special day to be perfect!

Working with Tara was an absolute joy. She was our day of coordinator, but offered so much more along the way. From the beginning, we worked together to think through my special day down to the last detail. She is very down to earth, but also has a tremendous amount of knowledge about the wedding industry, as well as some great connections. She was very patient with me through my decision making because I am known to be pretty indecisive :). Our wedding had a lot of moving pieces and she and her team executed them flawlessly. I also appreciated her responsiveness to unexpected occurrences. For example, after the bouquet toss there were rose petals on the dance floor of the venue. I mentioned to her that we'd be fined if they got in the marble and she started picking them up herself. That was just one example of her dedication to her client's overall happiness and peace of mind. I definitely recommend Tara and her team!

Tara and Perfect Planning were a godsend!!! I can't rave about her enough. I have a crazy work schedule and she was kind enough to meet me on one of her (few) days off. I hired Tara as my day-of wedding coordinator for my 180-person wedding in Washington DC in May 2014. Tara was a huge help preparing for my wedding and keeping my day on track. My fiance and I were skeptical about wedding planning but we were recommended Tara by the caterer we worked with. Hiring Tara and her crew was the best decision we made and we regret not doing it earlier! We had Tara provider day of coordination services for us and our event went off without a hitch. It was a joy to work with her, Kendra, and everyone else. All our guests mentioned how well things went and how much they loved the coordinators (Kendra taught everyone the wobble on the dance floor, LOL).

It's clear that they understand what each client wants and how to work with them and the wedding parties (and families). They had every detail down and really put me and my fiance at ease. It's too bad I only plan on getting married this one time, cause I'd use them again in a heartbeat!

Where do I even begin? That was my first thought after getting engaged. I received Tara's information from a friend and decided to meet with her. I had a budget and a fiance, but that was it. Literally. No colors, no ideas - nothing. By the end of our first meeting, Tara had mapped out a complete to do list, budget plan and practically the wedding in a spreadsheet. I knew then, like my fiancé, that she was THE ONE. It didn't matter how indecisive i was, how many times I changed my mind, how many times I called, texted or emailed. She was there. Every time. Professional, polite, about her business and all. I was truly amazed. As with most brides, there's a point where you become anxious about seeing the big, complete picture. Tara was able to provide that to me all along the way...and better yet, she provided me with ideas that I didn't even consider or think of because she is an EXPERT. Tara Melvin and her Perfect Planning services exceeding EVERY expectation that I had for a wedding planner! As my wife and I began planning our wedding I was hesitant about the idea of hiring a planner. I honestly did not see the value in it. Now that our special day has come and gone I can't imagine NOT having the services of Tara Melvin. She is absolutely spectacular! She is so much more than a standard planner. She has a long list of associated vendors who break their backs to fulfill your request when they know that you are one of her clients. While several of our friends and associates were stressing the nuances that wedding planning entails, my wife and I had the luxury of Perfect Planning which kept us on such a set schedule that our stress level was nearly non-existent. Finally on our special day everything was nearly seamless. Tara and her team made sure that every planned event was on time, and she is so well prepared that when my wife forgot her garter Tara had another one on stand by! My husband and I hired Tara about a year and a half prior to our wedding, and it was one of the best decisions we've ever made. Tara has great relationships with local vendors and was able to recommend companies that would suit all of our needs. She provided insight on the types of services the vendors provided, as well as arranged/attended our meetings with them and helped negotiate pricing. Tara always responded quickly to the many questions we had throughout the planning process and was extremely organized. On my wedding day, I didn't have to worry about things not going as planned, because I knew Tara was in charge and trusted she would handle any issues that arose. And she did. It was a wonderful, stress-free day thanks to her. We received many compliments from our guests on how smoothly the day went . Tara is worth her weight in gold. She and her staff are awesome! Our ceremony was at a monument on the National Mall during peak Cherry Blossom season. Without Tara I would have been a basket-case, but she was so reassuring that everything would go smoothly - and it did!
Also, Tara really rolled with the punches and let us personalize our ceremony the way we wanted. She was very accommodating to everything that I requested. We hired her for "day-of", but the truth is we met with her many times months before the wedding.
It would not have been as stress-free and enjoyable a day had it not been for Tara and her staff.

We highly recommend Tara - she is the best decision we made of all our vendors. We are so pleased with all that she did to make our wedding what we had hoped for.

We hired Tara to help us with our wedding and she was absolutely fantastic. She is super organized and kept us and our vendors on top of everything. She brought to our attention aspects of the wedding that we didn't even know we needed to take care of. She was great to work with and always available when I had questions. When the inevitable last minute last minute glitches came up, she was truly invaluable in solving them. She was particularly helpful with making sure all the vendors understood what they needed to do, where they needed to be, and that they were there on time. She helped us get the ceremony organized and walked us through the rehearsal. She has excellent contacts for vendors (music, flowers, etc.). We would not have had a great wedding without her help. Summary: My wedding day was perfect and wouldn't have been that way without Tara & Perfect Planning

I can't thank Tara and Perfect Planning enough for being a part of our wedding. We hired Tara as a "month of" planner, really just thinking we needed help on the day of as we were working with different locations for the ceremony and reception. However, Tara exceeded all of our expectations both on the day of and leading up to the big day.

I wanted to plan the majority of our wedding but Tara was incredibly helpful throughout the planning process. As I only plan on doing this once, Tara lended her expertise throughout the a variety of details and took the time to advise and guide us on so many steps along the way. She was so incredibly helpful!!

On the day of, Tara's team was FLAWLESS! While there was some drama behind the scenes, immediately before the ceremony started, Tara got the situation under control quickly and calmly without letting anything get off track and ensuring I, the bride, was focusing on the best parts. She ensured that everything ran smoothly throughout the day, which was quite a complex task with all the different events that afternoon & evening!

Honestly, the day was perfect. I hope every bride gets to feel that way and Tara and her team will ensure to make that happen. I would strongly recommend her services.

We hired Perfect Planning for Day Of planning. Tara and her team were truly amazing. They made our wedding day stress-free. Tara and her perfect planning team made the wedding of my dreams a reality. She assist with planning from A to Z providing me a list of awesome vendors to choose from whom played their part in my wedding. After trying to do the planning myself and giving up halfway in to enlist Tara this was the best choice I could have made to ensure a fabulous wedding. Weeks leading up to the wedding I had no stress in knowing Tara had everything covered. Day of the wedding and arrival at our ceremoney and reception venue it was more beautiful then I could have even imagined, everything was exactly as I wanted it and more. Tara and a staff of three others provided friendly, accurate, and overall excellent service for my daughter's wedding and reception. Tara's pre-event co-ordination with the two venues (church for ceremony and club for reception) and all the vendors was key, and on the day of the event she set a welcoming cooperative environment for all the participants to work together. We wanted our primary focus to be on the joy surrounding the sacramental union of the bride and groom. Execution of the plans we had spent months making was not something we wanted to worry about. With Tara and her staff in charge, everything came off without a hitch. Her reliability, flexibility and attention to detail allowed us to keep our primary focus and enjoy our celebrations as we should. Her reasonable fee was money well-spent.

Initially we thought that we did not need a wedding planner. We thought we could do everything by ourselves:) Remembering each task and organizing the wedding became a daunting task until we hired Tara as our coordinator. Tara was sooo... helpful. She took the stress away by keeping us on track with all of our vendors and all the little things.

The day of the wedding in the middle of the hurricane we decided that we weren't going to worry any more and Tara helped us do just that. With her team of helpers Tara made the wedding day easy and worry free.

Tara recommended vendors that were absolutely wonderful. Everything was so beautiful and everyone was so professional. She met with vendors with us and was always available via email and phone. Since I am a teacher and we got married at the beginning of the school year, all of my friends, family and coworkers expected me to be a wreck but I wasn't thanks to Tara and her team.

Tara was absolutely amazing. It is hard to find the words to describe how perfect her services were. We used her as a day of coordinator, and I only wish I had used her to plan my entire wedding. Tara was professional, prompt, friendly and attentive. During the planning process Tara was able to answer my questions and help guide me in the right direction. When I had an issue with my caterer messing up the floor plan, Tara stepped right in and had it fixed the way I wanted it. Tara made sure that our wedding day went smoothly. There was a slight seating issue due to the caterer and Tara fixed it right away. Also, she could not attend my rehearsal dinner, so instead got another wedding planner to come and attend the day of the wedding at no charge. She also had that wedding planner attend all meetings so we could all be on the same page (Marilyn with Joyous Events, also wonderful!!). Perfect Planning by Tara is absolutely perfect and hiring her was the best decision we made in the entire planning process!

We hired Tara after using WeddingWire to identify and interview several other wedding planners. We were searching for a partial wedding planner to help us in the three months leading up to the event, after we had booked our reception venue, photographer, and church. After meeting Tara, we knew we had met our planner. She was courteous, but not a push over- a must when dealing with our large families. She had experience, but was open to our suggestions and really listened to our concerns. Tara assisted us with recommendations for floral, linen, and transportation vendors. She arranged meetings with the vendors and, when necessary, drew up contracts on our behalf. She worked with us to develop an overall plan for the event- tying up loose ends and finalizing decisions. She developed the schedule for the day-of and communicated it to the wedding party and vendors. She helped us assemble wedding favors, monitored our vendor payment schedule, and helped us avoid wedding-etiquette bombshells! She and her staff provided on-site coordination and saved the day when banquet coordinators at the reception site scheduled two events too close together, leaving inadequate time to prepare the room for our event. Tara and her staff stepped in and cleaned and decorated the room so the event remained essentially on schedule. They literally had brooms in-hand! Taras services were an excellent value for the money. She brought a team of three planners with her on the day of our event. She was friendly, flexible, and willing to go above and beyond her contract to make us happy. We highly recommend Tara. Get her while you can, because once she realizes what a deal she is giving you, it might be too late!

Perfect Planning made all of my wedding planning and needs so easy, not to mention the smoothness of the entire process. From selecting the rehearsal dinner site to the actual wedding day, Tara was there to help with all the important decisions. I could not have imagined pulling this event off without Tara's professional assistance and input. Perfect Planning is definitely one of the best in the Washington D.C. area and highly recommend her services!

Tara was amazing. I hired her for "Wedding Event Management" which I expected to only include day of help coordinating the wedding, but it was so much more! She was very prompt in responding to emails and answering any questions I had. If she didn't know the answer right away she would get back to me within a day or two to help. Tara will check in with you regularly and gently remind you if you are off schedule, or if she thinks you need to be working on a certain aspect of the wedding that maybe you didn't even know you needed to do. My wedding was a little bit of a destination wedding (hour and a half away) and I don't know how I would have fared without Tara's advice and vendor suggestions. I highly recommend Tara for your wedding/event planning.

First, I’ll say that hiring a day of coordinator was possibly the best money we spent on the wedding. All I had to do was show up to the venue and get my makeup done. Every other detail was taken care of and I didn’t have to worry about a thing. Believe me, if you’re on the fence about whether to hire a coordinator…do it!!

We hired Tara and Perfect Planning for day of coordination of our October 2014 wedding. During the planning stage we had meetings about once a month. Tara sent us a workbook that was very helpful to make sure I had all the details covered. I worked primarily with Tara and Courtney until my wedding day and they were both very pleasant and helpful. I’m normally very busy with work and I got a number of the details done at the last minute. They were very patient and offered to help in anyway they could.

My wedding day was perfect. My guests are still saying how amazing the day was. The entire day of team made sure that every detail was amazing and that my guests were taken care of.

I researched many companies while searching for a wedding planner that could work with me and understand my vision. Once I met with Tara from Perfect Planning and looked over her past work, I knew she was the team for me. I had extremely high expectations and standards for my wedding. I wanted it to be an experience unlike any other for my guests. As a Project Manager and someone who pays close attention to details, many wondered why I even needed a wedding planner to provide full planning services to me. Let me tell you Tara was VERY much needed. We began our journey 14 months before the wedding. We worked together in creating each wedding detail. She was helpful in finding outstanding vendors to compliment my day. She jokes we me that I'm the most involved bride she has ever had. But, Tara made sure my day was FLAWLESS! No detail was overlooked. I didn't have to worry about anything. She assisted me with the rehearsal dinner and even brought everything back to our suite after the wedding. She is very professional and had a great deal of knowledge in the wedding planning business. Trust me you want your wedding in the hands of Perfect Planning! My high expectations were exceeded.

Tara and her team did a amazing job for my wedding. On my day I knew I wouldn't have to worry about anything and at the end of the night they made sure everything was taken care of at our venue, so we got our deposit back. I would definitely recommend perfect planning for any event.

We engaged Perfect Planning for a pre-opening celebration and found Tara's professionalism and attention to detail to be superb! We were confident that all of the event details would be well managed and executed by Tara & her team. Even a last minute weather issue was managed flawlessly. Tara came highly recommended to me from another vendor that I hired. My husband and I had a destination wedding. Once we made the decision to hire Tara, our wedding planning responsibilities quickly decreased. Tara was extremely organized, professional at all times, and there was not a detail that was overlooked. Upon our arrival to Mexico, there were two appointments that Tara had organized, and after attending those meetings, I did not think once about the planning of my wedding. When Saturday, the day of my wedding came, the day was absolutely flawless from my perspective. I am 100% sure that there were some hiccups along the way, as there are with all weddings, but myself, nor my guests knew of them because of Tara. Even when Tara left the resort and was back home in the US, she still continued to communicate with the hotel to make sure that our bill at checkout was exactly as she had negotiated. I would highly recommend that you hire her to make your wedding as flawless as mine.

Tara and her staff were very helpful. My fiance and I contracted with her 8 months before the wedding and although we hired her for "day of" planning, she really made sure we had all of our ducks in a row for the big day and also offered help with selecting vendors. I would definitely recommend Tara and her staff to any bride who wants to enjoy their day instead of worrying about logistics.

We had a fantastic experience with Tara and her team. We sought out a wedding planner after we found out how ‘involved’ wedding planning actually was. With so many vendors and resources in our area it was seemingly impossible to research and interview all of them. That’s when we turned to concentrating on finding a planner. I interviewed three other planners before I found Tara. We hired Tara for ‘day of coordination’ and she was on top of all the details and was well organized. Her preferred vendor list was definitely useful for us because we knew that Tara trusted these vendors, which took the highly intensive research and time out of shopping and interviewing the multiple vendors hired. Thanks to Tara, we reserved the venue we originally wanted because she explained the many complexities of the contract that were initially daunting and had discouraged us. Tara also went out of the scope of her work and sent out the majority of our wedding invitations when my work obligations kept me from doing it myself. I was very appreciative of this support and invitations were sent out on time thanks to her.
The wedding day was a breeze. Although we had a slight delay in the ceremony start time due to a family member not present, Tara had it under control and it was zero worry or stress on our part. Tara had a great team for our wedding. Her leadership skills of tasking and directing were excellent, as evident to how well her team worked together that day. Additionally, she and her team ensured drinks were in our hands and kept the ‘time-line’ of the evening on track (introductions, first dance, speeches, cake cutting, etc). All in all, we had a great experience with Tara and I highly recommend Perfect Planning to anyone who is planning a simple or extravagant wedding on a short or long time line.

To the owner and staff of Perfect Planning, it was a pleasure to work with all of you. As this was a very special day in our lives, the owner from the very first day of providing service after giving her an outline of our wishes, she made sure it happened. We were given schedules, timelines and task to provide her with information which at the end there was no confusion about what was needed or going to happen. My wife and I hired Perfect Planning to help with wedding planning and day-of event coordination, and Tara and her team were phenomenal! From the very beginning, Tara was willing to work with us in getting our special day just right. She was always responsive to our questions and e-mails from the big picture to the smallest of details and ready to offer suggestions when asked. The wedding planning process became much more organized and easier to visualize once Tara got on board. Most of all, Tara and her team were superb on our wedding day. Inevitably, distractions, hiccups, and obstacles happen, which could have derailed the day into confusion and chaos, but thank goodness for Tara and her team kept our wedding party together, warmly welcomed our guests, and above all, kept me and my bride sane and happy. Tara is wonderful to work with! She is extremely helpful during the planning process even though we only had her for the day of! She is always available and very quick to respond to all e-mails! She is extremely professional and relatively well-priced. We did have a few issues mostly on the rehearsal and wedding day. The issues were not major but should be noted. The rehearsal did not run smoothly. Part of this was my fault for not communicating clearly and part of this was a neglect to focus on particular details. For example, in several of the e-mails Tara sent to the bridal party and the vendors details were incorrect. She had the time of our wedding incorrect which I found disappointing and frustrating, and had the band playing at the ceremony instead of the reception. We went over the timeline at length and there were still misunderstandings/changes that Tara had trouble adjusting to. On the wedding day she did a GREAT job setting up the room and her assistants were so nice. Unfortunately, the assistants did not seem informed and lacked specific knowledge of the night's events. The assitants could not function independently and depended on Tara for direction. Tara had to be in close proximity at all times or the assistants did not know what was going on. She relieved me of a great number of worries and it was essential to have someone working for us.
