Amy at Shay & Company helped make our wedding the happiest day of our lives. Shay & Company supported us in choosing all of our incredible vendors, and worked with them seamlessly throughout our wedding day. Amy saw us through a year of planning, steadily guiding us so that no part of the process was overwhelming or stressful. Communication was strong throughout. On the day of the wedding, she led the team through the timeline on schedule.

The evening of our rehearsal it poured rain and there was a leak in the ceiling of our venue. Amy calmly handled it without impacting our rehearsal and worked with both our venue and dessert vendor to change the plans for where our dessert table would be. On the day of the wedding, no one had any idea there had even been an issue.

Overall, Amy understood our vision for our day that was fun, nontraditional, and authentic to us, but still honored our more traditional family. She looked out specifically for my grandparents to make sure they were safe and had a good time. We felt truly taken care of, and cannot recommend Amy and Shay & Company more. They do amazing work with amazing people. Could not imagine our wedding without them!

Couldn't Have Imagined a Better Experience

Shay Brown Events played a *huge* role in our wedding. They managed the venue that we got married at (Asheville Masonic Temple), and also were the wedding planner and coordinator for our event. Our planner, Alex, was fabulous. My husband and I opted for a less traditional wedding with a courthouse ceremony and reception later in the week. To be honest, my husband and I were overwhelmed by all of the details of planning the reception. I am so grateful that Alex took the time to help us understand the ins and outs of working with vendors, things to remember, and ideas to make our non-traditional reception an *absolute smash*. The days leading up to the reception and the throughout the reception, we had full confidence that every detail of the event was handled with grace and composure. Every member of the Shay Brown team was a pleasure to work with, and was so dedicated to creating a special event for their client that I couldn't recommend another vendor more.

Amazing wedding coordinator

I never could have made my wedding vision come alive without Amy from Shay Brown Events. Of all my wedding vendors she was the most important. Her professionalism was unmatched and she was always very responsive. She made me think of things I never would have on my own and always gave me alternative options when I was unsure about anything. Seriously Incredible Shay!!

I would HIGHLY recommend Shay. We had originally hired her as our partial planner for our fusion destination wedding weekend in Asheville but due to Covid, decided to downsize and change our plans for this year to an intimate day in Charlottesville, VA. She was incredibly kind and offered to travel up for the day and act as our day of coordinator, even within our proposed budget. And she was 5000000% essential!!!! Shay is kind, experienced, level headed, warm, friendly, and efficient. During such a crazy year, we are most thankful for her help in navigating wedding planning. She made our intimate day this year truly so special - she organized and set everything up in such a GORGEOUS way and kept the day running smoothly. She literally did so many jobs in one - installing our flowers on our arbor, setting up food and drinks, decor, livestream, etc. I cannot express more gratitude for her. She has checked in often with us and continues to do so as we have postponed our original reception plans in Asheville to 2021. She is experienced in not only American weddings but also Hindu ceremonies and that made it so easy and wonderful to work with her as she knew exactly what was going on and when. Do not hesitate to book her!!! She is incredible.

A dream come true

Shay Brown Events helped plan and coordinate the day I have dreamed of since I was a little girl. We started working together March of 2019 and I just got married July 18, 2029. We originally had a big wedding planned for May 2, 2020, but due to COVID-19, we had to cancel and postpone. Shay worked with us diligently every month to make every detail of our day absolutely perfect. Her creativity, support, care, and hard work made our day absolutely perfect and one we will never forget. Shay Brown Events introduced us to the best of the best vendors. They all worked with us amidst of the pandemic and were so kind and flexible. My now husband and I can’t thank you all enough for making this day unforgettable. Amy, cannot believe the amount of back and forth you had to go through with Sheraton, thank you so much for everything! I have not idea what I would’ve done without you. Also with all the other vendors, you were absolutely so amazing in making sure everything was well thought of, as well as making sure all the finer details were to my liking and comfortability. Don't hesitate to hire shay and her team for your wedding

We came from a bad experience working with a different event planner and Shay really helped us finish our planning and execute the wedding of our DREAMS! Our vendors were amazed with how easy she made everything. There was no detail left untouched. We had a destination wedding in North Carolina and having that assurance and confidence in everything while being across the country was worth every penny. I considered myself a pretty easy going bride but I know I had some family members and bridesmaids that got a little bossy and overwhelming. Shay handled everything with grace. She allowed us to live truly in the moment for our whole wedding weekend. We barely noticed her or any of the vendors. Everyone that attended RAVED about how everything was perfect and went off without a hitch.

I've known Shay Brown since I was a kid, so the decision to have her do the floral for our wedding was a no-brainer. Every little touch was perfect. We couldn't be happier with her work! I cannot say enough about how AMAZING of a wedding planner AMY WOOD from Shay Brown Events was! She was so organized, and when I think of my wedding at the Masonic Temple, I honestly could not have imagined a more perfect day.

I worked with Amy for about a year leading up to the wedding. She helped me locate vendors, would check in usually once a month, until we started getting closer to the big day. Amy kept a running list of everything we had done, and needed to do. She also checked behind us by contacting our vendors to make sure they understood exactly what we wanted. Having never planned a wedding before, Amy helped us think of all the details we didn’t even know we needed.

Amy also helped throw some awesome vendors our way. While some were a bit pricy, they all did exceptionally well getting the job completed to perfection. On the actual day of the wedding, Amy and the team with her made sure everything ran smoothly. I had no stress the day of because Amy knew exactly what we wanted, and kept things moving like clockwork. Even tiny details (like me forgetting my shoes under the sweetheart table) were taken care of. If you wanted a fairy tale wedding experience, Amy at Shay Brown is the way to go!

Because we opted for a destination wedding in Asheville - a few states away from our home - it was imperative to have somebody local who could provide good options for locations and vendors, as well as streamline the sampling process. Shay was up to the task, communicating our needs to and then linking us with a variety of excellent vendors who made our weekend perfect!

On the days of our welcome party and the wedding itself Shay was there for us personally and with her team, and everything went off without a hitch. She did an amazing job at managing all the moving parts and responding to challenges as they arose. Additionally, Shay and her team designed and put together all of the beautiful floral and décor for our wedding!

We really could not imagine having planned and managed our wedding without Shay, and no recommendation could really do justice to how much we appreciate her! Every step of the way she made us feel like we were her only couple! Thank you for everything Shay!

My husband and I catered a wedding rehearsal dinner with Shay and her team last weekend. I have worked in corporate events for over 20 years. I can honestly say that her level of organization and execution tops anyone I have ever worked with in event planning. It was really wonderful to see such a relaxed and happy bride, as she had full confidence that there was nothing to worry about with Shay and her team in charge. My husband and I got married in Asheville last October and had an extremely positive experience with Shay Brown Events and Amy Wood in particular. For us, Amy was truly a godsend when it came to planning our wedding - I can't thank her enough and highly recommend her to anyone who is looking for a coordinator! Going into planning our wedding, my husband and I had general ideas for the ceremony and reception, but didn't have a clear vision for our special day. Amy helped us develop a vision and made sure that we were able to incorporate the ideas we came up with throughout the process as things started coming together. Amy brought up different ideas and considerations for our special day that hadn't even crossed our minds as we started getting deeper into the planning process. She set up meetings for us with a couple of different florists, and we couldn't be happier with the florists we ended up hiring. Amy was always available to us during the planning process and was incredibly easy to work with. Our wedding day was absolutely beautiful and I never felt stressed. I knew that I was in good hands and had nothing to worry about. After the fact when talking to people about our wedding, some would ask "what went wrong" because people seem to believe that something always does. My husband and I can both honestly say that absolutely nothing went wrong and the entire day turned out perfectly! Even if there were small issues behind the scenes, we never even knew about them - that is a testament to an amazing wedding coordinator!!

I am to glad I decided to hire Shay Brown and her team for my wedding. We worked with Shay Brown Events for our floral design and for day-of wedding coordination. I worked closely with both Shay and Amy, and they were both stunningly professional. There are a million details to coordinate for a wedding, and the two of them kept me totally sane, with helping us think through the logistics and the flow of the evening. They met with me multiple times before the wedding day to check-in and go through details, and we also had many phone consultations as well since we were planning our wedding from out-of-town. Amy and Shay also provided amazing vendor recommendations, and helped us arrange visits with other vendors in SBE's cute office space.

The flowers on the day-of were a dream! It was flawless execution on our wedding vision. Overall, everything on our wedding day went off without a hitch, and it's because of Shay Brown Events! They are total pros, and I could not recommend working with SBE more highly.

The staff of SBE were extremely helpful and worked with me to find creative options to stay within my budget. This eliminated a lot of stress and I could enjoy the wedding. They are very professional interacting with vendors as well, I am not one that enjoys getting quotes from 3-5 different people while working full time, and they took care of this for me. I could not recommend Shay Brown more highly. I had a very short engagement, only 3 weeks, and with 2 weeks to go I hired Shay. Shay literally came in to save the day. We had 50 wedding guests, a smaller budget, and no time to mess around. Our guests never knew the price tag or the time constraints SBE had to work under because our wedding and reception looked like it had been planned months in advance. Shay is a true professional and so good at what she does. Her eye for floral design and table displays are remarkable. She is an artist. Shay also does a wonderful job capturing the overall look and feel of the wedding we wanted to have - both rustic and elegant. She listened to us, took control, and still had plenty of patience at all times for our questions and concerns. Any bride, with a wedding big or small, on any budget, would have the day or her dreams with Shay Brown Designs.

We worked with Shay Brown Events on all aspects of our wedding: wedding planning, vendor selection, and day-of coordination. Most of our correspondence leading up to the wedding was with Amy, while Shay was there over our wedding weekend. Amy is the most organized person I (the bride) have ever worked with, which is saying a lot since I am very organized myself. Amy helped us to find most of our vendors and she did so on a pretty tight timeline (we signed with SBE in Jan and the wedding was in July. We had no vendors in Jan). Almost all of them are folks that Amy and Shay have worked with in the past and their endorsement was important to us. Amy is highly responsive and is willing to work with the clients' needs (e.g., we had both a Pakistani wedding and an American wedding, and the set-up was entirely different for each, as well as some vendor/ food requirements.
Shay was there the entire time over our wedding weekend, and she saved the day several times. For one, she created a second bustle for my dress so I didn't trip over it while dancing. Also, there was a miscommunication with the officiant and we needed something which was not there (a table with five flowers in a vase to be set up behind the officiant). The officiant only told us at 430 and the ceremony began at 5. Shay pulled this together at the very last minute and enabled us to keep the ceremony as planned. Finally, and this was big, we ran out of hard liquor after the American wedding on Fri night. Our Pakistani wedding was on a holiday (July 4th), and Shay spent a while calling all liquor stores in the area until she finally found one in Georgia that was open. Phew! We really needed the extra booze! Taylor from SBE was also there over our wedding weekend, and she is great to work with. She is highly attentive and manages to be everywhere while staying in the background.
We highly recommend SBE to any and all couples! You will be SO happy you went with them.

We have worked with SBE on both sides of the aisle. First when we were professional photographers and then again when we married. From our professional experience with SBE, we knew she and her team would be exactly what we needed for our wedding day. Shay was already booked for our wedding, but Amy, her associate, handled everything and made sure to the very end and thereafter that we were taken care of. They executed our vision completely so that all we had to do was show up and perform our roles, either as the professional photographers or as the bride and groom. We wish we could relive our wedding day over and over again; it was so magical! We could not be more happier. Still to this day, when I am thinking of planning a party or event, my first thought is to contact Shay and team, because I know I can trust them to handle all the details so that we get to enjoy or capture, :) all the moments.

We interviewed a couple of wedding planners located in and around the Asheville area and chose Shay Brown Events because everything Shay said in our first consultation was exactly on point with how we wanted our wedding to go. They are definitely a premier events planning group in this region, so the cost is higher than we originally had thought we wanted, but every single thing they did to go above and beyond made the price 100% worth it and even more so. The value was in the totality of their services - we had a coordinator (the AMAZING Amy Wood), Shay Brown created or managed all of our design work (florals, linens, rentals, etc., and they helped us choose and managed for us all our other vendors as well as our budget! Amy was completely accessible for any questions or needs that we had at any time during our 18 months of wedding planning. Everyone we worked with at Shay Brown Events was so professional, knowledgable, and so friendly. The best thing though was the final product - how the day itself turned out. Nothing went wrong! And the decor was absolutely how I'd imagined it and better. Coming from a perfectionist bride - it had been hard for me to release even just a little control to Amy and Shay, but it was truly my Dream Wedding.

Shay worked magic with both my wedding space (church) and our venue ("On Broadway" in downtown Asheville). Everything was unique and something I hadn't seen before (including hanging handmade paper flower pomanders from the choir loft beam above where my groom and I stood in the ceremony space). They listened to everything we wanted so well but then took our ideas and made them better in the most perfect way.

Our guests adored every detail of our wedding, and we will always look back on it with fantastic memories, many of which were made possible because of Amy and Shay. There is no way our wedding would have been anywhere close to the fantastic event that it was without them!

Shay and Carmen were so wonderful to work with through the whole process, but on the day of the wedding they were the absolute best decision I made! I did not have to worry about anything, they did all the work for me. I just got to sit back and enjoy my wedding day, which is so important because it flies by. I'm a wedding photographer myself and I knew if there was one thing I couldn't skimp on, it was having a real planner with lots of experience and great taste. The reception site was stunning and I planned it all in advance, so on the day of the wedding I did not have to do anything. Actually, all weekend I did not have to do anything but relax. They were by my side the whole time and I can never thank them enough!! Don't think any longer... hire Shay Brown as your wedding planner! You won't regret it!

Our wedding in Asheville this September was wonderful beyond what we dreamed - we owe this completely to Amy Wood and her team at Shay Brown. We do not live in Asheville, so had to plan the wedding over email, conference calls, and a few very productive visits to Asheville. Amy led us through this process seamlessly, kept us on track, and left no detail uncovered. She somehow managed to coordinate everything and still be positive, pleasant, and fun! She offered expert advice on local vendors, and organized our timeline to run perfectly with each vendor so the day flowed beautifully. We had a "hybrid" Indian wedding, which was a bit unusual/creative, and Amy was able to go with the flow and help us realize our vision. In addition, she was very honest and responsible, and helped us stay within our budget and steered us away from pricey pitfalls. By the time the wedding came around, Amy had really become part of the family. Friends of mine described the wedding as "magical", "the best wedding I've ever been to", "I just got back from Rio [de Janeiro] on vacation and your wedding was more fun than my trip!" We used Shay Brown Events to help us with the Grand reopening of the New Crowne Plaza Hotel in Greenville SC. This was a very important event that included city , county and community officials, Industry leaders, top corporations and many of Greenville's social elite.

The event was attended by over 300 guests and was covered by local print and TV news casts .

Shay and her team were very professional and helpful in every step of the planning and execution of the event . From the initial meeting where she took the time to understand our vision of what we were trying to create and the budget we were working with through out the entire process Shay was helpful and offered many suggestions and recommendations . Her creativity with floral selection, décor and lighting really set the tone for a first class affair . On the day of the event Shay was on hand to personally supervise the implementation of the party and make any last minutes changes. We used Shay Brown Events to help plan my wedding in Sky Valley, GA. What started out at as an intimate wedding with 40 people quickly grew… and Shay was a lifesaver throughout the whole process. Shay and her team were absolutely amazing! The first time we met Shay, I knew I wanted and needed to work with her! Shay did the floral for our wedding and Amy Wood was our planner. Both were so prompt at returning phone calls and emails. They were so helpful with all of my questions and were there to help with all of the crazy bride moments. Shay is not only incredibly professional, she was always there to listen to me when I need to vet an idea. Shay took over my wedding as the full wedding designer and planner with only 3 months notice and I can't begin to tell you the difference I saw in her abilities over the other vendor I was working with (and the other vendor came highly recommended -- so this should tell you without saying much that her skillset is unparalleled in the industry).

Our wedding was very elaborate in detail; we wanted our guests to have the true southern experience and she accomplished that and then some -- down to the detail of how our servers approached our guests to the way our transportation service arrived and shuttled people around. There was not ONE detail that was missed.

Our guests still refer to our wedding as the "Royal Wedding" and I know that is largely because of the service they received in addition to the stunning design.

Amy was the best and deserves most of the credit for our wonderful wedding. We purchased the all-encompassing package, so Amy handled almost all of the day-to-day emails and logistics of our day. If we had not had an experienced wedding planner, there would have been many details that would have been forgotten. She has worked with most of the other vendors in the Asheville area and was able to help us narrow down our choices. In the end, however, we got to make the important decisions. I'm sure the amount of work she did behind the scenes was astounding. We did not live in Asheville and were quite unfamiliar with the area so it was great to work with someone that knew what she was doing. Our "destination wedding" exceeded our expectations. Our guests had a wonderful time and had nothing but great things to say about our wedding. We got married at a very busy and hectic time in our lives and I was able to stress a lot less by leaving most planning details in Amy's hands. The little details did not go unnoticed. From ensuring that we got to enjoy our appetizers (during family pictures) to keeping a drink in my hand during the reception to packaging everything up at the end of the night, everything was taken care of meticulously. I highly recommend Amy, Meredith, and the rest of the Shay Brown team.

Our experience with Shay Brown Events was amazing. Amy Wood was our planner and she thought of everything. She was always available to answer questions, gave us frequent updates on what needed to be decided or accomplished, and was completely invaluable on the day of the event. Other planners I had spoken with seemed to be very concerned with limitations on phone calls, emails back and forth, and what our expectations were since we planned to do a lot of the work with the vendors ourselves. Even though we went with a “limited” package from Shay Brown Events, we were blown away by their helpfulness. Amy thought of everything possible ahead of time so that the actual event went off perfectly. Although it rained throughout the event (which was outdoors and moved under a tent), it went smoothly because of all the work Amy put in ahead of time and the night of. I seriously don’t know how we would have done it without her. It was easily the best money spent on the whole event because the week of the wedding, I didn’t have to worry about anything! I would highly recommend using Shay Brown Events for your wedding! You definitely won’t regret it!

Shay Brown provided wedding planning services for our daughter's wedding. Our specific wedding planner, Amy Wood was EXCEPTIONAL. She was organized, took care of details ranging from very small to very large. Her organizational skills, extremely friendly demeanor and willingness to handle any task was outstanding. We dealt with rain just prior to our wedding and during the reception, and she handled it beautiful ly--- making sure our guests were comfortable and quickly transitioned to our reception, and everything went smoothly. At the end of the day, when we were all tired Amy made sure that all items including gifts, favors, guest book, flowers, bar items, EVERYTHING was ready to be removed from the venue or prepared for vendor pickup. Amy allowed us to enjoy our daughter's wedding while our guests wanted for nothing....her interface with our vendors was superb!

This was our third daughter to be married and the first time we had worked with Chelsye and her staff but this is the first wedding that we felt we could relax and enjoy the day. I love Shay Brown Events!!! Shay put together the design and florals for my wedding last week and I could not be more thrilled with her work! Since we were planning from a distance, Shay and I spoke via phone and email quite a few times over the 6 months leading up to our wedding. Amy Wood at Shay Brown Events is an amazing woman. She was the sweetest, most organized and professional person I think I have ever met! I came to her with a midsummer nights dream theme, and with her help it evloved into the dreamiest day ever. She really understood the feel we wanted and I never felt like she was just giving cookie cutter wedding suggestions, I felt like they were unique suggestions for the wedding we wanted. I was worried about trying to plan a wedding from out of state, but after our first meeting I didn't stress any more. She pulled together the most amazing vendors and thought of all the little details that I never would have. I found Shay Brown Events through Style Me Pretty and she is not only incredibly gifted at wedding planning but she became my friend and confidant through the planning process. We picked Bald Head Island for our destination wedding weekend. The fact that it's an island crated a series of obvious tactical issues but Shay didn't flinch. She exuded a calm confidence that I wouldn't have survived that process without. Shay Brown turned my blush, romantic and intimate wedding vision into a reality.
From the first time I talked to her until the last little hug before I walked down the isle, she was essential and irreplaceable. She made me feel relaxed and confident which as a bride in the midst of wedding planning seemed nearly unattainable. She is very creative and understands exactly how to translate the vision of your wedding into a picturesque beautiful reality. Just by sending her a few pictures of what inspired me she knew precisely how to accomplish it. The table linens, the chair covers, the candle holders, the custom made columns for the arrangements down the isle, the flowers, the petals, the centerpieces, the timelines, the schedules and the overall exacting attention to detail were all done flawlessly. When I finally saw all the elements that we had created and designed come together at the Bald Island Club it literally took my breath away. It mirrored my imagination and as I think back to that evening I am overjoyed that I had Shay and her experienced team. She was extraordinary in her ability to make me feel relaxed and unstressed while taking care of all the little details and taking on any issue I needed help with.
My dress is a blush color and has a romantic soft feel that we wanted to be reflected throughout all the elements. The flowers were done by Shay's recommended vendor Bobby and Mark Designs and I couldn't have been happier. They were stunningly beautiful, incorporating blush pinks, shades of white and a deep blue that really made the pink pop. They worked tirelessly to create exactly what I wanted.
Shay and her assistant Amy were a dream to work with and they paid attention to every detail. They were always there smiling and reassuring me throughout the whole weekend. They rose to every challenge and when hosting an event every night for a destination wedding weekend, there are always unforeseen issues.
I was able to completely trust them to help me create my dream wedding, and couldn't have done it without Shay Brown Events. Having a talented, creative, personable and endearing team of people helping me allowed me to ultimately enjoy my wedding and to really be in the moment and not overwhelmed with all the logistics that come with a wedding.
For that reason alone, to look back on your wedding and feel like you savored the moments that can never be recreated I can not recommend a better partner and planner than Shay Brown.

I do not have enough words or time to express how amazing Shay and her staff at Shay Brown Events are! My husband and I live in Philadelphia and decided to marry in Asheville, NC. We found Shay online and on our first trip to Asheville met with her to begin the planning process. Shay radiates warmth and sincerity, which immediately made us feel comfortable. Shay Brown Events did a wonderful job with our wedding. We worked closely with Amy, who was very on top of things and uber-organized. They helped steer us through a pretty hectic last minute change (our officiant cancelled less than a week before the wedding!) with grace and level-headedness. Shay did a wonderful job helping us come up with a design scheme for the venue based on pictures we had shown her and our wedding and reception were utterly lovely. Though (understandably) a little hard to get a hold of initially, Amy and Shay were always available closer to the day (3 months out) and kept in contact with us throughout the whole process. We were very impressed with the job they did and they were neither too clinical nor at all disorganized. The day went extremely smoothly thanks to their hard work and we were very happy to have hired them!

Proactive, professional, and flexible!

Our delayed and rescheduled wedding reception was dreamy, magical, and perfect thanks to Amy--who helped me plan and coordinate and took care of all the rentals--and Beth, who was our kickass day of coordinator, wrangling vendors, tending the fire pit, and even helping me bustle my dress! I absolutely couldn't have done this without them, and so appreciate the way they stayed on top of every little detail, were so proactive and organized, and made my day easy, fun and stress-free! Highly, highly recommend!!

Shay Brown is a very talented event designer and a fantastic person to work with. We were in a special situation that Shay is in Asheville, we are in New York, and our event was in Virginia. With the logistics and my personal crazy schedule, all of our coordination was done remotely and Shay even took the liberty to do the walk through of our venue without us.

Through sharing mood boards, emails, and conversation, she really did everything to achieve our vision for the event. She is very resourceful and comes up with tiny details that make a big difference. Also, as someone who did not choose to have a gaggle of bridesmaids, it was really wonderful to have an event planner so genuine by my side every step of the way, from handcrafting my bouquet to escorting me to my hair and make up test. And she does all of this for a very reasonable fee. Her associates are wonderful as well, and in addition to all the numerous logistics, made sure the groom and i were enjoying ourselves with our favorite cocktail in hand at all times.

I would not hesitate to recommend Shay for an event--she has taste, is lovely, and is running a great business. That said, I do want to mention our issues with responsiveness and budget updates so you are prepared. For the few weeks leading up to the event, email responses were very few and I had the habit of adding things, without being told what I was asking for was costing. While it wasn't a massive overage at the end, I was surprised by how much I had added. This is a common bride's mistake and not necessarily Shay's fault, but just remember when hiring a planner to make sure you keep in touch with them regularly and stay on top of the budget if this is something of concern to you. The team also had a habit of saying they would be sending updates, design images, etc, but I would never get the emails. Shay explained this is something they are working on, and I think also just a repercussion of planning an event remotely.

My husband and I were married in western NC in late summer 2013. I was initially reluctant to use a wedding planner but I was so glad to have Shay Brown and Amy Wood managing our wedding.

Not only did they handle last minute wrinkles (like the venue deciding to not provide transportation for guests a week before the wedding!) but working to secure our anniversary wedding cake tier. A year after our wedding, we were having trouble contacting the baker who had agreed to provide a cake for our one year anniversary. After failed attempts to reach her, Amy stepped in and was able to get us our cake. That is the kind of high quality service I didn't expect, especially a year after our wedding.

Thanks Shay Brown Events for providing an incredible experience. If you need a wedding planner, know that you will be getting the best with this team!

I struggled with this review. I've waited 6 months after my wedding before posting, because I've never written a bad review for anyone, but I had a genuinely terrible experience with Shay Brown events. Shay can be tough to work with, and she snapped at me many times throughout the planning process. She also snapped at my mom, and to my horror, the minister at our wedding. I had multiple people comment on her rude demeanor in the aftermath of our wedding. She also lost our guest book, which we never got to see. The worst of all, however, was how she handled the band. They were in the middle of the last song, every person in the wedding was on the dance floor, and it was such a happy moment. It was 10 minutes before the wedding was scheduled to end, and she literally pulled the plug form the amp, cutting of the song and told everyone to go home. It was the worst way to end the wedding.

Additionally, she really struggled with getting the decor right, and it looked cheap and rushed at the end.

Every other vendor I worked with was a delight, but if I had it to do over again, I would not work with Shay Brown events again.

The day of our wedding, we had to switch from an outside gazebo wedding to under a tent. A lot of the details (e.g., saving the front rows for family) and double-checks were not done (e.g., making sure the mic worked for the priest). Shay and crew often said that the ceremony was not their job b/c we had told them the priest would handle the ceremony but she should have been able to help with the setup (e.g., chairs) and should have let the bride's family know that the groom was on the way.

In addition, the reception was not organized well either. Some of our place/escort cards were missing b/c they did not double check the box. We had non-alcoholic sparkling apple cider for half of our guests who did not drink and these were never served. Ultimately, things went fine but some of the details that I was hoping would have been taken care of by Shay and her crew were just not done well. Amy was great in helping us organize and I really wish she had been there to execute everything as we had planned.

In hiring Shay I was very specific with what I was looking for in a planner even more so because it was a destination wedding. Shay assured me that she would handle my wedding 100% with the help of her assistant Amy. Amy was fantastic for the most part, very quickly was I no longer dealing with Shay and now only Amy. I was just so busy that I couldn't address it and hire another planner with such short notice. When I hired Shay she said she also offered floral being from out of town I asked her if my mother in law could help seeing to the fact that she is a very well known florist who has even been published in magazines. She said that she had done it in the past and though it wasn't ideal that she would do half and half. The price Shay offered to do it alone was astronomical especially for the type of flowers and design. When I told her that my mother in law would do the tables she said "No, either I do it all or she can do it all" I was flabbergasted at how unprofessional and catty her response was. Then to rentals I asked her for a list of things and it cost me less to buy it all and I still saved a large amount of money. The day of my wedding she was present for a very short time and said she had gone to a "meeting" during the set up of my wedding. If that wasn't bad enough her assistant didn't even stay the evening Shay left and left her intern! If all of this wasn't enough after the wedding I received an invoice for time Shay added to my photographer without my knowledge. Then denied doing so, luckily the photographer has proof but Shay still assumed no responsibility. HEART BREAKING CHOICE... hope this helps my fellow Asheville brides.
