I felt so stunning on my wedding day. Heather & her team did a phenomenal job and I couldn't be happier. They brought my visions to life while also feeling like ME - just extra pretty for my wedding day. I had so much fun getting ready with them and my mom, and sister, they are truly so bubbly and fun to be around. I also did a trial and that was a great experience as well. Heather was so amazing for our wedding and so flexible! We did a very nontraditional venue that she had to drive wayy out of her way to get to (which we so appreciate!) And also had to do our makeup in a camping cabin. She was excited at the idea and made the wedding morning very easy and fun, despite the nonconventional setting.
My hair and makeup really went through the wringer with a heatwave hitting us at our desert wedding but my look lasted all day and looked absolutely gorgeous.
She was also so fast and efficient. It was just her for me (bride) and 5 other women (bridesmaids and moms) and she finished us hours before we were needed for the photos. It was really nice having that extra time in the schedule to chill and relax.
Highly reccomend Heather and Shade & Strand, she does such a good job! -

I first heard of Shade and Strand through Zola. I reached out through the Zola app early in my search and Heather let me know they were doing mini trials at a venue expo, The Thursday Club. I signed up for a short mini trial (15-30 min slot) and upon checking in to the S&S booth I was greeted with friendly faces and a very welcoming Heather! My experience at the mini trial was amazing, I got my eyes done and a quick half up hair style and that was enough to make me lock in S&S for my big day! 2-3 weeks later, I also had the opportunity to work with Heather and the S&S team at one of their internal team courses for bridal hair on curly hairstyles. Their team is so welcoming and felt like family. Again, I left confident in knowing that I made the right decision for my hair and make up team for my wedding. Come the big day, Heather was so attentive and kind to my mom, MIL , and myself. She looked at our dresses and gave input on hairstyles but ultimately listened to what we wished and felt most confident and comfortable with. For our makeup she did just the same, listened to our wishes and had us check in throughout the service and was willing to change anything we wanted or any adjustments. I cannot thank Heather enough for such an amazing morning of wedding experience! Heather and her team have my highest recommendations for any bride / bride squad looking for hair and makeup! Thank you Heather ! -

I worked with Shade and Strand for my wedding makeup in November 2025 in Rancho Santa Fe, and I highly recommend their services. Cynthia made the experience so easy and comfortable. During the trial, she gave me an option between two colors of eyeshadow, but either one would have looked amazing. I asked for the natural glam look, and she encouraged me to get heavier makeup to show up in photos. She talked about her technique and how to make sure the makeup would last all day. She took lots of photos so she remembered what she did during the trial. On the wedding day, she was on time and super professional. All she needed was a low table, as she brought her own chair. I purchased my own lip liner and lipstick for the wedding day, which made it easy for Cynthia to apply them directly and show me how to touch everything up. I would highly recommend Shade and Strand and specifically Cynthia to anyone looking for a makeup artist for their wedding.

Heather, Tiffany, and Kelly are not only extremely talented but so nice and made the day more fun! They arrived on time got all of us ready and played music and chatted the whole time so the morning flew by. They lightened the mood with their humor and calm attitudes. One of my bridesmaids wanted to kind of make up what she did with her hair and they were so receptive and helped her hold mirrors until they got it exactly how she wanted. We even added on my husbands grandma at the last minute and they took it in stride. Huge thanks goes out to all of them! -

Tiffany and Heather were amazing to work with! They are professional, fun, and incredibly talented. I looked exactly how I wanted to on my wedding day, which is to say—stunning!
When I went in for my first hair and makeup trial the atmosphere they created was amazing and the look they did for me was to a T what I asked for (soft glam look and an updo that can be taken down for reception). When I had second thoughts about my hair choice and reached out, Heather immediately squeezed me in for another trial and I walked away even more confident that I had made the right choice. Both in hair style and hairstylist.
On the day of, both ladies were punctual and worked seamlessly with everything my bridesmaids and family could throw at them. I’m not a morning person, but they added such a fun and positive energy to the morning it just carried on to the rest of the day and was the perfect start. If you get the chance, don’t hesitate to book with them. -

Beautiful Hairstyle for a Beautiful Day
From the start, Heather responded very quickly and was able to save our date with little time to spare. Jacquline was my stylist and was absolutely wonderful. She was on time, quick, and very nice. Just from inspo pics, she put together an updo hairstyle for my wedding day that was better than I could’ve expected. Looking at other vendors, their prices are more and well worth what you get out of their services. Everyone loved what Jacquline did and it gave the overall look something of elegance that other stylists wouldn’t be able to! Highly recommend this company to anyone searching for that perfect look on the big day, or any other event! -

I had a hair and makeup trial with Heather about 3 months before my wedding. I felt so gorgeous, and my fiancé and I went out that night. The hair and makeup held up great, and even looked better as the night went on. Heather and I had such a fun time, and I knew she would be my artist for the big day. The day of the wedding, six of us had to get ready - myself, 3 bridesmaids, my mother, and mother-in-law. Heather brought her business partner Crystal, and the eight of us had the best time ever. We chatted, listened to music, and had a blast the whole day. Heather and Crystal were both so fun, down to earth, and really made it feel like you were talking to a bestie. Besides marrying the love of my life (obviously), the part that I was most excited about was getting ready with my girls. The Shade and Strand team gave us exactly the experience that I was looking for, and made all six of us look absolutely stunning. I asked Heather to be my new go-to hairstylist, and she happily agreed. I can’t wait to make my first appointment with her and watch her work her magic. I also know who to go to whenever I need my hair and makeup done for a special event. Shade and Strand can do natural, glam, and everywhere in between. Book them and you will not be disappointed! Heather did an absolutely amazing job for my wedding hair and makeup. We did a trial to perfect my look ahead of time and she absolutely hit it out of the park. She not only made my hair and makeup perfect for my big day but my nerves were at ease. She even last minute incorporated a necklace my mom brought for “something blue” into my hair, and jumped in the help her apply her lashes. Heather was a pleasure to work with and I couldn’t recommend her enough! -

Absolutely amazing experience from start to finish! We were in full panic mode on the morning of our wedding when our original hair and makeup artist completely bailed on us last minute. By what can only be described as a miracle, we found this incredible team—and they truly saved the day!
Not only did they take us in day of without hesitation, but they showed up with the most calming, kind, and professional energy we could have ever asked for. They seamlessly took care of hair and makeup for four bridesmaids, both brides, and one of the bride’s mothers—all within the tight timeline of a wedding day—and somehow managed to make each and every one of us feel and look like absolute perfection.
Every style and look was tailored beautifully to the person, and the makeup held up all day and night through tears, laughter, and dancing. They made everyone feel so comfortable and pampered, and honestly became a highlight of the day.

Heather and Tiff are absolutely AMAZING! I went to a few hair and makeup trials with different vendors, but they completely blew everyone else out of the water. They created such a fun, relaxed environment—it truly felt like I was getting ready with friends. They were incredibly receptive to any adjustments or tweaks I asked for and worked much faster than I expected without compromising quality.
Throughout the planning process, they were clear and communicative about deadlines, flexible with changes to the number of people getting services, and never once made me feel like a burden while I sorted out my wedding party’s preferences.
On the day of the wedding, they arrived bright and early—even before my wedding party—and had everything set up and ready to go. These girls are so dang talented!!! Heather was in charge of hair for my wedding and Cynthia applied our makeup. Everyone looked absolutely stunning once they were done with us and it all lasted for the entire night. They even got complimented by the photographer for being efficient and finishing on time. I received a hair and makeup trial prior to the wedding, and they really listened to my vision and took their time getting it perfect for the big day. On the day of, they managed to do 5 bridesmaids, myself, and my mom’s hair & makeup in the time provided with ease. Heather and Tiffany are amazing! They did hair and makeup for me and my bridal party.
First off, they are a lot of fun and have great personalities! They make it a fun experience with awesome music and conversation.
On top of that, they really know what they’re doing! The wedding was vintage themed, and they nailed the 40’s makeup and hair styles like no other (very difficult!).
The up-dos were absolutely gorgeous, including my bridal side-do. On top of that, the makeup was on point. Everyone transformed and looked absolutely stunning!
This duo is a must hire. Five stars all the way!

Tiffany and Heather are amazing! I still can't believe the incredible transformations of my bridal party and myself. They seriously do it all. Some of us don't usually wear makeup, and we still felt comfortable. There were a variety of skin tones, and everyone looked well matched and blended. A few of us have thick hair (especially my mom, who basically has a lion's mane), and everyone's hair stayed flawless the entire night. And they work super quickly! Highly recommend 👍🏼👍🏼 -

Best Hair Stylist!!
Heather is the absolute best!!! The trial was exactly like the day of hair and it was exactly what I wanted. She is so kind and was such a great presence on my wedding day. She also took note of the little things such as, we forgot a speaker and she let me connect to hers and my mom was concerned with her make up so she was able to fit her into the day and do my moms make up. I first met Tiffany and Heather as a bridesmaid and I still remember looking in the mirror and being so happy with not only my hair and makeup but how amazing I felt from the interaction with the entire Shade & Strand team.
They were my first and only choice when it came time to plan my wedding. I was worried at first because I first met them in San Diego County and was getting married in LA County but they didn’t bat an eye and not only traveled to LA but arrived for a 6AM start time!! To say they were a bright ball of energy and excitement is an understatement. These woman are first and foremost very professional and efficient. They are multitalented so no one is ever just sitting around waiting for hair/makeup and always looks stunning. I can’t rave about them enough. If you want to feel like the beautiful bride we all want to be, call Shade & Strand. There is no task too small or no ask too much. THEY ARE THE BEST!! -

Best Experience
The most professional and beautiful work done. We had several issues arise (another vendor cancellation, a power outage) and Heather and Tiffany each and every time stepped up and handled business calmly. On top of helping me get through stressful situations on my wedding day they did beautiful work. I could not have been happier with the way i looked and my wedding party looked. I would recommend them and use them again for any other occassion -

Beautiful from start to finish
I found Shade and Strand through Instagram while searching for a hair stylist for my wedding we had in October 2023. I reached out to the owner Heather because I truly enjoyed the work she had portrayed and knew that it was what I could envision for myself on the day of. I scheduled a trail hair session with her and knew instantly that she was the one! She provided my bridesmaids and I with beautiful styled hair that lasted all day through the ceremony and reception! Fantastic Experience!
Tiffany and Neva were the absolute best hair and makeup team I could ask for on my special day. My hair and makeup looked insanely stunning and I felt so beautiful. They were both so amazing throughout the whole process. Tiffany did my makeup, my moms makeup and both of my sisters makeup. She even convinced my mom to try strip eyelashes, which she has never done before and absolutely loved the way she looked in them 🩷. Neva did updos, half updos and curls and executed all of our hairstyles exactly as we wanted them. She was also super supportive in making sure I had enough food and water while I was getting ready and talked me through being too nervous to eat while everyone was preoccupied with other things. They got us ready in plenty of time for ceremony and pre ceremony pictures and we had the most amazing experience. I would HIGHLY recommend this team for any wedding! -

Heather and her stylists (Kelly and Tiffany) were incredible! From the mini hair/makeup trial, I could tell that they were a fun team. They were extremely easy to set up a reservation, which was exactly what I was looking for. Not to mention, their prices are extremely reasonable. There was no fuss over special services when making the reservation as there was either no extra charge (e.g., updo vs. down) or extra services (e.g., fake lashes) could be added on the day of. Heather and her team were reliable, with regular communication from Heather leading up to the wedding. They even arrived early to ensure that they could have plenty of time to set up. We paid additional money for an extra assistant, and it was well worth it. With 3 stylists in total, my 6 bridesmaids, 2 moms, 2 flower girls, and I had all our hair and makeup done in 4 hours. They made sure we were also having fun, with a party playlist and lots of photo opportunities throughout the morning. It set a great energy for the rest of the day, and I’m super happy that they were part of my wedding day! -

We scheduled an epic, two day family photo session in multiple locations throughout San Diego. Shade and Strand came early in the morning (on time!) to prepare 7 ladies for the photo shoots, then one of them met us at another location to change hairstyles for us mid day. We couldn’t have been happier with their services! We aren’t the easiest bunch, with a variety of ages (19 to 84) and personalities. Heather and Tiffany were accommodating and attentive to our requests! They did a great job on hair and make up, and they were an absolute pleasure. I would not hesitate to hire them again! -

From the first conversation I had with Heather, I felt a sense that she really cares about her client’s wishes for their special day. She was super accommodating over the phone when I first booked my actual wedding day and was patient with me as I figured out a day to book a trial. I have to admit, I was scattered through the process and had changed the times and dates multiple times trying to arrange my trial date for an engagement photo session with a photographer. Heather was so kind through all the changes and last-minute adjustments. She was also super enthusiastic in giving me recommendations for my look based on photos I’d sent her of my dress and pictures I’d sent for hair & makeup inspiration.
Even though I didn’t get to have Heather as either my personal hair or makeup artist, I am so beyond grateful for her coordination, and through all the communication we had, I felt like we actually met in person. Heather booked me for both my trial & day-of hair & makeup to be done with Neva & Tiffany- and I also cannot say enough good things about these two!
Both Neva and Tiffany are super talented at what they do! & they are so sweet & fun to be around. Both girls were friendly and made me super comfortable as we talked and laughed through the sessions. My makeup was literally flawless and lasted all day for both my trial and day of. Tiffany was so sweet, she even let me keep a lipliner to touch up. Neva is an absolute doll and was so patient with me as I changed my hair do for my day of from the trial. I honestly cannot believe how beautiful my hair looked for two very different styles and with her only looking at a couple photos I’d saved from Pinterest.
Honestly, I feel lucky to have found Shade & Strand on my search for my wedding hair & makeup and will totally go with them for future special events! Thank you Heather, Neva, and Tiffany!!!

We had a total of 9 people (12 services) and they were able to get us all done in time for pictures. They honestly all are so sweet and listened to what we all wanted. I was not able to do a trial due to the drive it would take me to get there and it came out PERFECT the day of. Hair and makeup for Courthouse Wedding
Heather was very professional and very personable! I was really happy with my look when she finished. She brought all of her equipment, even a chair for me to sit on, so you don’t have to worry about anything if you hire her service! She also asked for my input before the finishing touches and made sure everything was what I wanted. She was always down when I asked for more color in my eyeshadow and for big dramatic eyelashes. Also, she provided me with a small container of my lip color and a small lip gloss for touching up, which I very much appreciated since I was taking photos! Amazing and fun team!
Heather and Tiffany are an amazing team! I would highly recommend them for your wedding day.
For my wedding hair, I wanted big Hollywood curls, which is a feat for straight Asian hair. At the beauty trial, Heather was straight with me about what would work and gave me tips on how to keep the style lasting throughout the day. She even gave me another hair trial when I wanted to try out extensions to help keep the curls intact! And, damn... those curls were LEGIT on the wedding day! They even lasted til the next morning!
In terms of makeup, Tiffany really listened to what me and my bridesmaids wanted. She kept my makeup natural with just enough shimmer to look good in photos. One of my bridesmaids was also really hesitant about makeup since she had several bad experiences with makeup artists at other weddings, but Tiffany did an amazing job at finding a nice balance. Even the moms, who are very peculiar about their makeup, loved Tiffany's work!
Both Heather and Tiffany were super efficient with the time. They did hair + makeup for me, 4 bridesmaids, and both moms in 3.5 hours! At the same time, they were so much fun and laughing/dancing around with me and my bridesmaids all morning. They were also so sweet and filmed a cute video of before/after shots with me and my bridesmaids!
