We had our wedding in November at Old Trial and it was the best day imaginable! The views of the mountains were better than I could have dreamt, and the day itself was incredibly smooth with no mishaps. The personnel at Old Trail, especially Alana, were overall a joy to work with. They are super accommodating with any reasonable request, and they are timely in their communication. As far as the wedding preparation and the day of the wedding, everything was an absolute dream.
The food was also incredible. We had a buffet style menu that had dairy and gluten free options and had endless compliments on the quality of food. The chefs also made some Turkish appetizers on request during cocktail hour which were DELICIOUS.
When it comes to pricing, weddings these days are expensive. That said, Old Trail offered a FAR more reasonable price than other local venues of similar quality. My only advice to others planning a wedding would be to account for the price of drinks in your budget, which most wedding venues may not provide upfront, but Old Trail tried to make all pricing as transparent as possible.

Jessica and Shawn Nicholson Wedding
Alana Samuel and Dawn O’Neill are an amazing team at Old Trail Golf Club. They made the entire process from checking out the venue on a first round visit, engagement photo shoot options, and every follow meeting through the planning process nothing short of perfection. They are professional, prompt with feedback responses and paid attention to every detail we requested. Down to extreme details like mopping up the rain puddles themselves for cocktail hour- they became friends of the family! This team is a hidden gem and the Restoration staff worked to make the day perfect! You really need to check out Old Trail Golf @ Restoration with the most stunning views and amazing staff. -

We had a wonderful experience using Restoration Hall for our wedding. Barbara and her team were easy to communicate and work with and were extremely helpful as we prepared for our event. The venue was beautiful and the food was excellent. Would highly recommend. -

The venue was perfect, the food is exceptional and the staff and personal touches added, all exceeded our expectations. We chose the family style option for our 100 guest wedding, had a number of passed o'dourves during cocktail hour, and even offered a late-night snack. Months later, we are still hearing from guests that the food served was the 'best food they've ever had at a wedding', and they raved about the selection, presentation and flavor of each option. The team at Restoration also made this such a success! Everyone was friendly, engaging with our guests and very accommodating. This is a beautiful venue, with top-notch locally-sourced food, and truly gave our wedding the "Virginia" touch! -

We had our rehearsal dinner here in June 2025. The only time I cried from frustration in the entirety of my wedding planning was because of this rehearsal dinner. I wish I could also say that the pain was worth it in the end, but the event itself also nearly drove me to tears.
TLDR: We felt like they didn’t care about us, had no desire to make up for things gone wrong, were incredibly disorganized, and made this dinner the single most stressful aspect of not just the wedding weekend but the entire 1.5 years we spent planning our wedding. 2 stars were because the young servers were just doing their best and the event space and decor were well put together.
Pre-Event:
We signed a contract in 11/2024 for our 6/2025 rehearsal dinner. The contract states “Menu pricing for events/meetings beyond ninety (90) days is subject to change in the event of unforeseen increased food costs. The maximum allowable increase is 5%.” However, when we received the BEO 10 days prior to the event nearly every item increased in price, with an average 59% increase. One of our appetizers was quoted $100 when the BEO had it at $225 (+125%), another was quoted $200 when the BEO had it at $350 (+75%). All the entrees had increased by ~$10. We were not informed at all about any price increases prior to being asked for final selections and counts so we were completely blindsided by this increase. We reached out to Dawn in confusion and brought up what the contract states and were ignored. We were told that menu items had increased in price to align with market values, but that Dawn would do us a favor and decrease some of the increases. This resulted in a miniscule decrease and still left us with an average 43% increase from what we had expected. With 10 days left before the event we felt completely backed against the wall and that we had no choice but to pay it, despite this complete breach of, and seemingly indifference to, the language in their own contract.
Besides the increase in price, we had such a hard time working with Dawn and this venue. It was very difficult to get quotes for menu items in the first place, and we had to ask over multiple emails for prices for things like stationed appetizers and duo entrees that were not included in the original quotes. This kind of information should be stored in a better format than just over email. We also had bizarre/unorganized encounters with Dawn in the days leading up to the event, such as her asking if we had chosen napkin colors yet when we had never had a conversation about napkins, and her creating a floor plan without asking for our input or even showing it to us until I asked to see it days before the event. Dawn’s replies were often terse and impersonal (e.g. an email that was simply “Ok”) that I felt like I was constantly bothering her with my (in my opinion) very minimal requests for this event.
Event & Post-Event:
We came to this event with a very positive outlook because the tables were beautifully decorated and looked well put together. We greeted Dawn warmly and all the servers and staff were very kind and friendly. However, we were missing one of the stationed appetizers that we paid for, and there were not enough seats for everyone despite confirming the guest count. The food came out so staggered that some people were already finished before others had gotten their dish. At least two guests got the wrong dish and since they were the last to be served, they just ate what they got. The women’s bathroom also flooded into our event space, so servers were trying to sop up bathroom water throughout our cocktail hour, displacing people from their seats and delaying dinner service. With the only women’s bathroom out of order, many women were obviously in need to relieve themselves and were told to wait it out. The bathroom ended up being out of order for hours and we had to figure out a solution amongst ourselves by having someone from our group block the men’s bathroom for our use for a couple minutes. The entire experience was just completely ridiculous, with one issue after another poorly mitigated, and we felt like the events team was incapable of managing an event of 35 people and didn’t care to think of solutions or make things right both during and post-event. There was also a wedding happening in the adjacent room, so we felt like we were last on their list of priorities. Near the end of the event, we were told to expect a conversation on compensation based on these issues but that we had to pay the final invoice immediately. We paid and then never heard from Dawn & team and had to start the conversation ourselves weeks later. The reply insinuated that we were the ones that had been expected to reach out to them immediately after the event (and when we didn’t, they didn’t do anything about it??). They proceeded to offer a $75 Restoration gift card as compensation. We pushed back and reached a resolution that we still don’t feel happy about. My husband picked Restoration for our rehearsal dinner because he loved the food and golfing (and bartender Dylan!) and it was meant to be a final send-off before my parents moved out of Old Trail. We will not be back and cannot express enough how devastating this experience was for us.
