Kim was wonderful to work with. When I was a bridesmaid in 2016, I remembered how amazing her work was on my hair and I reached out to see if she was available for my wedding date. Luckily she was! My bridesmaids, myself, my mother, and my mother in law were all very pleased with how they looked. I would definitely recommend Poetically Brushed for future brides!

I had Laura from Poetically Brushed as my HMUA for my wedding in March 2024. She was stellar. I was a bit unsure exactly what look I wanted and Laura helped me a lot with choosing my final wedding look. Her work on my hair and makeup was excellent, and she put me at ease with her skill as someone who doesn't do either often. Kim is very responsive, I thought she made the whole process from questions to booking very easy with the documents/sheets she uses. I loved that she provided a schedule for the day of. Whimsical dream come true
Emmy was the lead stylist for my wedding. She was really flexible in finding a date to do my trial as well as shared information on extensions. Somehow she magically matched my hair to my extensions and worked with me during my trial to make sure she adjusted as she went to to what my vision was. There were some scheduling challenges during the wedding day and she helped to get all the bridesmaids and my hair done despite them. I honestly felt like a woodland princess after she finished my hair and never felt more beautiful after she was done! Could not recommend enough.

I was really trying to find one business that would do both hair, makeup and be willing to travel for my wedding. I came across poetically brushed and looked at their gallery and saw a variety of options to choose from that fit my budget. Kim was very responsive and was willing to work with my to make my experience pleasurable. My hair and make up artist was Lauren. From the beginning she was wonderful. We were texting ideas for my hair and make-up and she reassured me that no matter what I wanted she could do. I had my hair and make up trial and it was wonderful. Lauren is so personable and had such a pleasant attitude. On my wedding day she came with help to be able to get bridesmaids and I done. Her timing was perfect with the schedule and everyone was done on time. Lauren did a fantastic job. Everyone loved my hair and make-up. A true artist for hair & makeup
Kim is a true artist! For my November wedding, I chose to wear my hair down with soft, romantic curls and a floral crown made by my florist. And I wanted my makeup to look photo-ready without being overdone. Kim took my vision and married it up with her talent and experience to deliver a look that was more than I imagined!
From the trial through the wedding day, Kim was professional, helpful, and supportive. I could tell she is invested in her art and clients. She posts great tips on her social channels so you can prepare your face and hair for the big day. She gave me guidance in selecting my hair extensions, recommended moisturizers for my skin, and helped me work with my florist on specifications for my floral crown. It's obvious Kim spends time getting to know her brides and learning their vision for the day. She knows exactly how to create the look you want. Not only that, but she also makes sure your hair and makeup will withstand whatever your special day throws at you, be it wind, rain, sun, happy tears... I was able to wear my hair (and eyelashes) the next morning for my farewell brunch -- talk about bang for your buck! I highly recommend working with Poetically Brushed!

Natalie was our lead stylist and we had two other hair and makeup artists for the 10 members of the party. The hair and makeup trial was a great way to get to know Natalie ahead of time and have a good idea of what I wanted and get comfortable with the clip in extensions. On the day of everyone was on time and kept us on schedule! The bridesmaids and moms all looked gorgeous but still themselves. My hair and makeup lasted all night in the summer heat and I felt amazing! Highly recommend!!

I am so very pleased with Kim and her stylist team (Emmy and Samia). My hair and makeup turned out exactly the way that I wanted and Kim made my dream come true! I Ioved the natural-glam look and finish of the makeup. It was the perfect balance. She was able to fine-tune and incorporate the handful of changes that we talked about at my trial. She was very experienced with working with hair extensions and the hair vine that I wanted to use. Kim was so patient and such a calming presence on my wedding day, which I am so thankful for! I literally combed through dozens of options to find Kim, and I am so glad that I chose her. I felt that her prices were extremely reasonable compared to other artists. I like that her team did hair AND makeup. My bridesmaids looked absolutely gorgeous!! I liked that I could interface directly with her and know which stylists would be working alongside her. AMAZING glam squad
Kim and her crew was nothing short of fantastic for my wedding day! They arrived early, their team managed in unexpectedly tight corners without complaint, and did an amazing job with all our our hair and makeup. I did a hair and make up trial with Kim and we took pictures and talked through notes and changes to make for the day of, discussing them that morning, too. My bridesmaids also got hair and makeup done with Kim's team, along with my mom and MIL. Everyone looked beautiful, and the artists bent over backwards to make sure everyone got exactly what they wanted. Would absolutely work with Kim again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for an artist.

Amazing Experience
We booked Poetically Brushed for our wedding, and specifically had Ashley as our Lead and Lynda as our make-up artist. Honestly, we could not be happier across the board. I gave all of my girls freedom do to their hair and make-up in a style they would be most comfortable in because we all have very different types of hair and all do our make-up differently as well.
Ashley and Lynda rose to the challenge and everyone walked out of their styling sessions looking absolutely breathtaking. Even my mother who is incredibly hard to please was the happiest.
Through the whole experience of a trial to the actual wedding day Ashley was a friend who wanted me to feel and look my prettiest. She even set me up with my wedding day lipstick so I would not have to worry about color matching later.
These ladies are amazing at what they do, and you will not regret going with them.

Kim did an incredible job!! For my trial, I was only able to find a couple vague pictures of what I was thinking I wanted for my hair and she did exactly what I had in my mind. She reproduced it perfectly again for the wedding. We had iffy weather the day of the wedding but I wanted to risk doing the first look outside. I literally got rained on and I thought my hair would be frizzy and ruined. But not a single hair was out of place, and it continued to look flawless throughout the entire evening! Cannot recommend Poetically Brushed enough!!

Kim and her team are excellent. They are well-organized and great at creating and sticking to a timeline. I had ten bridesmaids and everything went so smoothly. I'm so impressed by their hair styling, and I got so many compliments. The style I chose was tussled, romantic, and loose, yet it held through an entire night of dancing in summer humidity. The BEST hair and make up around!
If you want perfect hair and makeup on your wedding day, look no further! I am so thankful I was able to book Kim for my wedding! I had the pleasure of working with her before when she did my hair and makeup for a photo shoot. She did such an amazing job. I knew that one day I would hire her for my wedding and now, 5 years later, that is exactly what I did! Kim was amazing to work with throughout the whole process from the planning and trial day to the day of. She really delivers! My hair and makeup was exactly what I wanted and absolutely perfect! I got so many compliments on how beautiful I looked! Kim arrived early to make sure that she started on time. She wore a mask the entire time due to Covid precautions, she sanitized her station and her tools, and she was very professional. She also has a fun and sweet personality. I can’t say enough good things! I simply adore her!
I also have to mention that she went above and beyond for us. The groom grew a massive red pimple on the side of his nose overnight and Kim took the time to go where he was getting ready and helped airbrush it out for him. It was like it never existed! Update- we finally had our reception 4/1/23!
Kim was amazing throughout the process and made the hectic morning so much less stressful! Everyone looked beautiful and my hair and makeup lasted through a REALLY windy day, lots of happy tears, and several hours of dancing and photos. I could not have been happier with Poetically Brushed! Also, Kim was the only one of my vendors to allow me to have a refund minus the very reasonable deposit when my wedding was postponed the first time, so I was so happy to be able to rebook her when we finally had a new date.

I had even already had my hair and makeup trial-- which I absolutely loved! I know basically nothing about hair and makeup and she was able to translate my idea of what I wanted (partially up so that it didn't droop but to look like it was down) into an actual style. She was so flexible and responsive we were able to rebook within a day of me reaching out. I am so glad we will have Kim on our vendor team even if we have to wait 6 more months! (LOL WE WAITED 3 YEARS)

Great fun and masterful with natural curly hair.
I was worried about getting a stylist that didn't understand curly hair since I wanted to wear my hair natural (and had been working the Curly Girl Method for MONTHS). I messaged Poetically Brushed and Kim responded right away. She paired me up with Ashley - who is delightful! She came to my house the morning of the wedding and we had so much fun!
She was amazingly masterful, styling my half up do curl-by-curl. I felt beautiful and my curly hair didn't frizz! She also did my best friend's hair for the wedding and she looked glamorous.

Magical, my fairy godmother!

Talented, professional, flexible
Kim was a dream to work with. She was so helpful in the process of planning the day's schedule, was punctual, and finished on time to boot. She also had the option available to stay on while we did the first look to freshen us up before the ceremony. She followed us around the venue making sure we looked flawless in our photos. By the end of the day, we decided she was an honorary bridesmaid as she was so sweet, funny, and helpful with so much more than hair and makeup. The girls and I looked amazing and the makeup was so light - it felt like we had nothing on (airbrushed). She was also able to whip up any hair style we described/showed her.

Best Hair Day Ever
I can't say enough nice things about Kimberly. After dealing with a number of stylists that were difficult to get ahold of and unresponsive, I didn't have high hopes when I reached out to Kimberly. To my surprise, she was super responsive and easy to work with. After doing my trial, I decided to make a last minute change to my updo as I had recently cut my hair. I wasn't sure how it would turn out and, of course, Kimberly nailed it. It was my far my best hair day ever.

Our Best Wedding Vendor
We had a lot of vendors on our wedding day. Kim the very best one, without a doubt (and I promise that I didn’t write that in every vendor’s review!). She is incredibly talented, kind, and efficient. Her amazing team did updos and airbrush makeup for 10 women in record time. All of my girls loved their looks. I have never felt so beautiful, and have Kim to thank for that. My hair and makeup also stayed totally put through hours of pictures, eating, dancing, and through lots of happy tears. Her prices are also very fair, especially considering she is the very best in the business. If you want to feel beautiful on your wedding day, hire Poetically Brushed!

Beautiful hair and makeup
Kim and her colleague Alice did a great job doing hair for 3 ladies and makeup for 4 ladies in a 3-hour time period. We all looked beautiful, our makeup lasted all day, our hair lasted all night (except one person needing a few extra bobby pins), and we felt like extra-pretty versions of our normal selves. Very communicative and professional, extremely easy to work with. Kim kept track of every email I sent her and executed exactly the look I was going for from an inspiration photo. Thank you!

As someone who planned a MD wedding all the way from MN, I can't say how great it was to work with Kim. From the beginning, she was flexible and responsive to all my e-mails. We were able to schedule my makeup trials way in advance so I would be in town. Then, during the week of the wedding, Kim was also so awesome being flexible when I had to cancel my hair trial because of work so she came early the day of the wedding to make sure my hair was exactly what I envisioned. On the day of the wedding, DC had historic levels of rain. Kim not only made my makeup and hair so beautiful, but she also made sure to use waterproof makeup as much as possible and extra hair products to help my naturally straight hair hold volume and curls. My mom and I got so many compliments the day of the wedding and I can't thank Kim enough!

I am so impressed with Kim and her hair/makeup skills! She made me look glorious on my wedding day and all of my girls loved their hair. I met with Kim to do a hair trial and at first I loved the look but after wearing it for a day I knew I wanted something different. Kim and her coworker Jamie did such a great job on hair and makeup for the wedding! Kim had done my hair once before at a friends wedding, so I already knew I loved her work. I didn't know how great of an experience it would be to work with her, though!
We did a trial run at a salon where Kim works, and I decided I needed to do a second trial run to try a different style. This was probably annoying, but Kim scheduled a second trial with no hesitation for both me and my mother and she even came to my mother's house to do it (since it's hard for her to get around). We really appreciated that.
I couldn't have been happier with how my hair turned out on my wedding day. It was picture-perfect! All of my bridesmaids, mother-in-law, and aunt were also very happy with how their hair turned out and were so impressed they had to give little-to-no direction on how they wanted to look.
The same was true for their make up. Everyone looked beautiful and felt so confident going into the big day. Kim and Jamie traveled to make it to our wedding (Chestertown, MD) and I was really happy they were willing to do that.
I had a great experience with Poetically Brushed and can't say enough good things about them!

Kim did a fantastic job working with all the different hair and skin types to bring a natural, yet polished look to the bridal party. Not only that but they were the sweetest women and fit in very well with my bridal party! Wow just Wow!!!!!! Kim was a life saver from the beginning! I had some previous trials with makeup and was very unhappy with my experiences. I went to Kim and she knew exactly what I wanted and made it even better! I was so happy with my trial for hair and makeup I wanted to cry. On the day of the wedding I was very excited to get started. When we saw my flower piece it was not what I expected and I started to feel pretty stressed. Kim was calm and cut the crown into exactly what I wanted. She saved the day with her cool, collected, and fast acting decision. I looked flawless all thanks to Kim! Kim was absolutely fantastic and super accommodating being able to come out on July 4th and super early in the morning to to do mine and my bridesmaids hair and make-up! I had originally hired someone else for my wedding hair and makeup. I was not sure about their skill level and was browsing wedding wire and found Poetically Brushed & Kim. I instantly forfeited my deposit elsewhere and went with Kim. She is SO talented and is so personable and kind.
Kim and her team made me look and feel absolutely beautiful on my wedding day. Kim knew my vision from the beginning and totally went with it. When I decided last minute to redo my makeup trial due to not wanting a spray tan anymore she was so accommodating and got me in for a second makeup trial. Not only are their hair and makeup styling skills incredible, they are very very relaxed, easy to work with, accommodating, and fun! That is HUGE when you are getting married and need to have someone calm by your side and get along with a group of your girls. Kim made me feel absolutely beautiful and went exceeded my expectations for the romantic, natural, loose updo with flowers. It was more than perfect and I am so glad I found her. Kim & Team did an AMAZING job on on all our wedding makeup and hair. She spent hours with us at the hotel and then traveled to my venue to do touch-ups and my flower girl's hair and makeup. I recommend her to everyone. Such a great experience.

Kim and her team were absolutely amazing! I had my hair trial and loved it but about 3 weeks before the wedding decided to change my look. I emailed Kim some pictures and she was completely open to changing it up and did BETTER than I could've imagined the day of. She was also very responsive and professional. I would recommend her and her team to anyone! She is also very versatile with hair styles and different hair types, me and my girls looked amazing and we had multiple people ask us who did our hair. BOOK KIM, she's the best! :)

I would recommend Kimberly in a heartbeat! She is extremely good at what she does, wonderful to work with, and very reasonably priced. Her and her team were such a welcome addition to the morning of my wedding! I had a trial run with Kim 3 months prior to my wedding, and she took copious notes and pictures to ensure she duplicated it perfectly the day of. She even practiced on a mannequin prior to wedding day to make sure she executed it wonderfully! Everyone's hair and makeup looked wonderful and we had such a fun time getting ready. So glad I went with Poetically Brushed for my wedding hair! Kim was so easy to work with and willing to go above and beyond to make sure you are happy. Not only did my hair look fantastic, but it lasted ALL night even though we had an early, daytime wedding. All of my bridesmaids, as well as mothers and sister of the bride and groom were very happy with their hair too, and everyone was ready ahead of schedule. So so so great, and inexpensive compared to other vendors I researched.

Kim was everything a bride could want in a hair and makeup artist! She was recommended to me after I found someone else on Wedding Wire who was unavailable. I am thrilled that I was able to find her! From my first communication with her I knew everything was going to go great. Kim is amazing at responding to e-mails and always willing to answer any questions that you may have. She even was amenable to changes I had to make last minute when my MIL had a bicycling accident and decided she wanted her makeup done to cover it up.
My trial went great. Her shop in Hagerstown is adorable! Kim did exactly what I asked and recreated a picture even better than the original. Kim was able to do the same (if not better) on my wedding day and my hair held all day. Even the makeup lasted through many sappy moments throughout the night.
My bridesmaids loved how Kim and her team (who were so sweet and talented as well!) did their hair and makeup. One of my bridesmaids is even considering wearing her hair the same way for her own wedding next year. Kim seriously does the best braids!!
Overall her quality of work and price cannot be beat. I highly recommend her and her team!

Kim & her team [3 ladies total] came to my Boydville Mansion - Martinsburg, WV wedding location & did hair and makeup for approximately 7 or 8 of us ladies! They were friendly, they were professional & they made each one of us look *very* beautiful. Her pricing is very fair. I would hire Kim again. She made the ladies feel really happy, and was able to do any kind of hairstyle / makeup desired. Great job Kim & team :) We saw our first sneak peak photos and we all look so good in them bc of you guys!

My makeup looked flawless throughout the entire night. I loved the fact that Kim travelled on site. Kim at Poetically Brushed was simply wonderful, one of the best vendors we worked with. She was prompt and organized in all communication both before and after the wedding day. We had a trial at her studio where she gave great advice and I was able to see exactly what the hair and make-up would look like ahead of time (big stress relief!). There was an issue with the air conditioning at the venue and Kim was flexible but also firm in a really helpful way. She worked as long as she could and then insisted that the venue accommodate us downstair so that the hair and make-up would not be messed up by the heat. We paid to have her stay on site for pictures, which I would really recommend. Not only did she touch up my make-up, she even offered some advice on pictures that would look cute! She's a great, calming presence to have around on what can be a nerve-wracking day! Definitely recommend her!

Kim was amazing! After completing a run through with three other stylists, Kim was able to finally capture exactly what I wanted and had pictured! She was super sweet and cared so much about making me happy!
On the day of the wedding, the assistant stylist she brought was just a talented and they worked together to style all 9 of my bridesmaids, flower girl, 2 mothers. As I saw someone else say already, they also finished EARLY! All of the girls looked amazing and we were all thrilled with the way our hair held up throughout the night.
I am so very pleased I found Kim and would recommend her to anyone!

As a bride, I could not have been more comfortable with Kim and her team. They showed up right on time, set up and got us all done EARLY! She made all of my bridesmaids, my mom, my sister, and myself feel absolutely gorgeous. My make up lasted 10+ hours in the July heat (Airbrush is so worth it!) and my hair lasted just as long and would have lasted longer if I let it! I could not recommend Kim and her team MORE!

I booked Miss Kim as my Make Up artist for my Wedding day and I couldn't be any more happy with her amazing skill! She made me and all my lovely ladies absolutely stunning! My bridesmaids even told me after the wedding how beautiful they felt in the make up and that they never wanted to wash it off!!!
Poetically brushed is both professional but also personable and makes you feel at home in the make up chair while you are getting pretty. I would strongly recommend Kim to any bride for her wedding day or any other special event!

Kim did a fantastic job on my hair and makeup, my bridesmaids hair, and my mother's hair and makeup. She and her assistant arrived to the venue early enough to start as soon as we got there. She made sure everyone was happy with their looks. Everyone's hair stayed in place until the end of the night! She also helped contribute to the calming atmosphere I was hoping to achieve to minimize stress on the day of. Highly recommend!

Brooke (hair) and Ashley (makeup) were amazing! They were cool, calm and collected the day of my daughters wedding! Between the two of them they did all the hair (9 girls) and makeup (5 girls) without breaking a sweat. April 2nd was a very windy day and the first look photos and ceremony were outside. The girls hair and makeup held up beautifully all night! I highly recommend Poetically Brushed for your special day.

Poetically Brushed is amazing. I did a trial run with Kim about 6 months before the wedding, where we decided on hairstyle and color palette for my make up. I highly recommend that, as it gives everyone a Plan before The Big Day actually arrives. At both the trial run, and day of the wedding, Kim (as well as her assistant for the big day) was/were patient, knowledgeable, super nice, amenable to requests, kind and chill. She has a veritable beauty arsenal that she traveled with up to Deep Creek for the wedding. I also highly recommend that....so nice to be able to get ready on site. Personally, I can't even tell you how talented she is. I'm not really a make-up person and I don't generally feel stunningly beautiful every day....but Kim helped me feel like a movie star for my wedding (vintage hair, Victory Rolls, flawless make-up; I wish I could post a picture). As my grandmother used to say about miracles such as this, she made a silk purse out of a sow's belly. Haha. If I ever need services such as this again, she'll be my go-to gal; and any time I hear of someone getting married in the area of Hagerstown to Deep Creek, I've given them Kim's info. She's worth every penny. Run, don't walk, to Poetically Brushed.

Kim is wonderful! I highly recommend her for any bride who is looking for a talented, reasonably priced, professional to do hair and makeup for you and your bridal party. Kim was responsive, easy-going, and flexible, which made working with her easy. She was patient with my indecisiveness, asked lots of questions about what I wanted, and helped sculpt a look that was right for me.
On the morning of my wedding she came to the venue, was on time, and worked quickly with her excellent team to make all the women in the wedding look gorgeous. It rained on my wedding day but everyone’s hair and makeup stayed beautifully. She even fit in hair styling for two ladies who decided, last-minute, to have their hair done, after seeing how beautiful and inexpensive it would be. She was so sweet, and made the morning of my wedding day so relaxing. I’m so glad I found her!

When I decided that I wanted to have our wedding outside and at a family residence rather than a known venue, I realized that it would be a bit of work and may be difficult to find a makeup artist. After searching for what seemed like weeks to find someone that would travel, be able to do airbrush, and could mimic my vision for my wedding day, I found Kim. She was personable, professional, and REALLY REALLY REALLY good at doing makeup. I knew I had made the right choice almost instantly. On my wedding day she was so fun to interact with and my bridesmaids loved their makeup too! It was a little warm that day and I was nervous that my makeup would just run down my face. It held up perfectly the whole night! I couldn't have been happier. Thank you to Kim and her amazing work for making my day the best ever!

They arrived on time to my suite at the hotel, made all of my bridesmaids GORGEOUS with updos and makeup (I had 8 of them!), and made it easy to provide payment for everyone. Kim is a lot of fun to work with and is so quick with making one's hair gorgeous. Once upon a time, I thought it'd take at least an hour to do a proper updo for someone--- then Kim waltzed into our lives and proved otherwise. She was done in a 1/2 hour with each bridesmaid, and each LOVED their hair. Thank you, Kim!

Kim was amazing! I contacted her after my original hair/makeup vendor didn't workout with my trial. Kim came to my home to do my trial and her work was beautiful! Her pricing was very reasonable and she was not only super talented, but very flexible as well. She was timely in communications and really easy to work with. Day of my wedding she was the first to arrive. She did me and my three girls by herself, all 7 services and we looked amazing. One of my girls had a sunburn issue. Her chest (strapless gown) was really red and pealing. Kim was able to airbrush her chest and match it to her face in a way that you could not even tell! I wish I had a before and after. She went above and beyond and I'm so happy she provided hair/makeup for my wedding!

Kim was a fantastic hair stylist. I had a great trial run with her a few months before my wedding, and she made some really great suggestions because I was pretty scattered in my thoughts as far as how I wanted my hair to look.
A couple days before the actual wedding there was a hiccup with the venue regarding when we could get into the rooms to start getting ready. Kim was incredibly flexible working with me and the makeup artist to figure out where we could relocate to start doing the bridesmaids hair.
Kim was great company and kept everyone on schedule the day of. She's fun, friendly and very good at her job! The bridesmaids' hair looked amazing and mine looked absolutely fantastic.

After using Kim for my engagement pictures, I knew I wanted her to do my hair and make up for my wedding. She did an AMAZING job. She was able to meet with me several times before hand (because she kicks ass at color and haircuts too) and talk out the style I wanted and when I should color my hair. She even helped me pick out the extensions that would work best for me and made sure they were toned and ready for the big day. On the day of my wedding, Kim and her assistant were fun yet professional and able to get us all ready on time. I would highly recommend Kim to do your hair and make up needs!!

She brought an assistant who did a great job prepping hair and helping with makeup/eyelashes/etc. I needed hair and makeup services for a total of 7 women so I knew it would be a busy day. Kim got right to work and they had a great system. I even thought we would finish TOO early. I was wrong and she timed it perfectly. Kim's prices are great and I was even able to splurge on the airbrush makeup which was TOTALLY worth it. I knew I was emotional but boy did I cry a lot and the makeup stayed on ALL night. The bridesmaids all got a beautiful rope braid with curls pinned into an updo. It turned out great! My mothers hair was stunning as well. I loved my hair and even tweaked it a bit since the trial and Kim did an awesome job. Kim is super flexible and came right to my apartment for my trial. The makeup was so gorgeous and natural looking. All the girls looked so beautiful and I am so happy with the turnout. I'm glad she is a pro at both hair and makeup so I didn't need to hire separate people. I would definitely return to Kim for any hair or makeup service.
