Engagement Photos

Stephanie was so sweet and fun to work with! My fiancée and I were nervous because we rarely get pictures taken, but she made the entire shoot feel comfortable and effortless. She had amazing recommendations for location and tips for what to wear and what to bring. Her help took so much stress out of preparing for our pictures. The pricing and time it took for her to edit the photos were also super reasonable. The whole experience was so easy. The pictures turned out so incredible as well. Stephanie had some many ideas for cute poses. The quality of the photos and her editing were amazing as well! My fiancée and I had such a hard time choosing a favorite because they were all stunning! We were so happy with how they turned out and couldn’t wait to show everyone. This was by far the best experience I had getting pictures taken. I would absolutely recommend Stephanie for your engagement and wedding photos!

My husband and I were very picky when reviewing photographers as this was easily one of the most important vendors to us.

Stephanie went above and beyond in making our special day (and events leading up to it) perfect. She did bridal portraits and an engagement session with us as well. Her and her husband both shot our wedding and we got over a thousand AMAZING pictures.

They are kindest people ever and made wedding planning so much less stressful. We met for coffee a few times before our wedding to ensure that she knew exactly what we wanted and we got just that.

An awesome experience!

We loved working with Stephanie for our engagement photos! Stephanie was professional and easy to get in touch with. It was our first time getting professional pictures taken together and her warm, reassuring presence that put us at ease during a new experience. Stephanie was incredibly willing to accommodate our hyperactive dog as well.

As for the photos themselves, we could not be more thrilled!!! Stephanie was very timely about sharing sneak peeks with us and we got our final album right on time! Her editing style perfectly matched the vibe we were going for and gave us the perfect photos to use for our wedding invitation and website.

Capturing the moments

More than anything we wanted the magical feeling to be captured on film. Stephanie did an amazing job looking back on the pictures I could feel that moment in my heart. At first my husband didn't understand the importance of a great photographer but having the engagement photo shoot he changed his mind. She made us both feel so comfortable in front of the camera. The perfect addition to our perfect day!

Stephanie did our engagement photos and wedding photos. She was so nice and made us both feel so relaxed and at ease in front of the camera. I usually freeze up when people take my picture, and I had never had professional photos done like this, so I was really nervous leading up. But once we got started she made it possible to relax and have fun! My husband and I had so much fun with Stephanie, and the pictures came out above and beyond what I would have ever expected. Simply wonderful

My husband and I are a young couple whose friends and families have known each other for over ten years. It was really important to us that our photos look natural and capture the true emotions that day without them feeling overly posed or staged. And boy, did Stephanie deliver. You can feel the excitement and sheer joy from our friends and families in our photos. They almost feel like they were taken by a (albeit, very talented) guest embarking on the journey of the day with us rather than a photographer only looking for the “perfect angle.” I must admit, I didn’t truly understand the style of Stephanie’s photography until seeing our photos. They really do convey an essence of “a moment captured in time.”

In addition to her extraordinary talent, Stephanie could not be any sweeter or more wonderful to work with. She kept us updated on the status of our photos at each stage, and made my husband and I (who are not picture people) feel so comfortable during each shoot. It is also important to note that she worked harmoniously with our videographer, whom she had never worked with before our wedding.

If you are looking for a photographer who will really capture “you,” contact Stephanie as soon as possible.

Sweet & Talented!!!

I am sooooo happy that we had Stephanie as our photographer for both our engagement session and our big day! She is the absolute sweetest and very very good at what she does! The whole planning process was extremely easy with her and because of Covid, we did have to reschedule, which also was so easy and stress free! My husband is very camera shy and does not like taking pictures but Stephanie made us both feel sooooo comfortable in front of the camera! I really wanted engagement photos for when we got engaged and I loved that they came with any package that you booked with her! Her prices are very reasonable for what you get and for how talented she is! She really focuses on the natural beauty and connection between the couple, which I loved! We did not want those cheesy very 'posed' pictures. Stephanie is very kind, funny, easy going, very professional, etc! I could go on and on! If you are looking for wedding photography or really any other type of photography that she offers, look no further and book her! You will not regret it!!

Greatest photographer, sweetest person!

We can’t say enough great things about Stephanie! She was our photographer for our engagement photos as well as the big day (which was rescheduled from May to September due to COVID). She is both a wonderful person and an extremely talented photographer. She made the planning process easy - we had to do everything over the phone as we are based in Washington, DC - and made us feel comfortable during our shoots. Wedding 10/24/20

I don’t even know where to start with all of the great things I have to say about Stephanie. To get this out of the way: financially, her packages are amazing for the quality and quantity that you get. But more importantly - she photographed us for our engagement pictures, my bridal portraits, our (eventual) wedding after rescheduling 4 times due to covid... and I just couldn’t imagine having a sweeter, brighter, funnier, more amazing photographer (turned friend) to go through all of this with us. She was patient, encouraging, supportive, sympathetic, professional, uplifting... the list goes on and on. One thing I will never ever forget was that I was having conflicting thoughts on whether I could pull off having our dogs take pictures with me and my (now) husband before the ceremony - without either of us seeing each other. She told me that we could make it happen and that I would regret it if we didn’t at least try. “Worst case scenario, it’s a hot mess and we get some really funny pictures.” Stephanie is a huge animal lover and the pictures are incredible. Please, PLEASE hire her for your events and you will not be disappointed. We love you, Stephanie!

Such a pleasure to work with!

Working with Stephanie for our wedding photography was a dream! My husband and I planned our wedding in North Carolina remotely and I fell in love with Stephanie’s work that I found on Instagram. After exchanging a few emails, I could tell Stephanie would be so pleasant to work with! We first met in person at our engagement session, with Stephanie traveling to my family’s home on the lake. We had so much fun shooting and Stephanie made us feel super comfortable with posing. Stephanie made sure to note which pictures would be most important to us the day of – pictures of our nieces and nephews, first kiss shots, and the getaway car. It’s so special to have these pictures wonderfully captured. Wedding Photography

I cannot say enough good things about working with Stephanie. It’s a given that her pictures are gorgeous, but there are so many other advantages to working with her. She makes the photography aspect of the event so natural and pleasant. She is a calm presence in an otherwise stressful situation.

During our engagement shoot and our wedding photos, she made my husband and I feel very comfortable. This is so important when you’re trying to capture candid shots. I love the style of her photography – it captures the little moments beyond the “smile and look at the camera” shots. Those candid moments are the ones I have framed in my house, because they capture the smiles, laughter, and love radiating from the couple she’s photographing.

The day of our wedding was rainy, but Stephanie went anywhere and everywhere outside with us to get the pictures we wanted. She rode with us in a golf cart to a specific bridge we wanted our photo at, and I’m sure she got soaked because I know I did! Rain aside, the pictures are breathtaking (and absolutely worth the wet dress!).

My husband and I shared the opinion that photos were the most important aspect of the day. The wedding day will come and go (far more quickly than you’d expect!), but the pictures are what you’ll have forever. Stephanie’s packages are extremely flexible and she worked with us to get the exact amount of coverage we wanted. She also was very mindful of the day’s schedule and kept me on track, letting me know how much time we had left at certain points based on the time we had allocated. Before the wedding, we met for coffee and went over all the shots I wanted to make sure we got and she helped me nail down my day-of timeline. It was so helpful to talk to her – she has seen so many weddings and had so much great advice about how to time things to run as smoothly as possible.

I have nothing but happy things to say about Stephanie. Aside from her professional work, she is also an absolute pleasure to get to know. She has a heart of gold and a passion for her clients and her photography.

Beautiful photos

Stephanie did a wonderful job on our engagement and wedding photos! During our engagement session, we had some unexpected cold weather. Stephanie worked with us throughout our session as we took our winter coats on and off. Even though we were shivering and freezing, she still managed to take some beautiful engagement photos. Leading up to our big day, she was also very organized and prompt in her communication. She made my husband and I feel very natural in front of the camera, which we so appreciated. Stephanie is incredibly talented and has a keen eye for detail. Some of my favorite photos are the detailed shots Stephanie took of our wedding rings and flowers. Beautiful work

We hired Stephanie for our wedding a few weeks ago. We were looking for a whimsical style for our outdoor, bohemian wedding. We chose Stephanie to be our wedding photographer for our wedding this past September and she was incredible. We were amazed by the amount of high quality photographs we received from her and all the moments she was able to capture of our special day. Also, things can be stressful on your wedding day but Stephanie's calm and composed demeanor throughout the day made everything much better. Even though we were running a little late on taking photographs before the sunset, Stephanie was calm and laid back, which allowed us to relax and just enjoy the day. She was easily the best vendor at our wedding. If you want high quality photographs and even higher quality service from a vendor, I would highly recommend Stephanie Smith.

Stephanie was a dream to work with at our 50-guest wedding reception! Since we didn't have a day-of coordinator, she was a life-saver when it came to keeping us on schedule. She knew when to direct us to get the shots we had planned for, and when to be flexible about last-minute changes - all while being incredibly sweet and kind. My husband and I are both fairly camera-shy, but Stephanie made us feel super comfortable being photographed all night. To top it all off, she nailed the fine art style we were looking for and captured some fantastic shots of us and our guests. She's a fantastic choice for a wedding photographer!

Stephanie started getting to know us and our vision for the wedding about 10 months prior to the event. She went out of her way to get to know my husband and I, who we are individually and as a couple, and worked with us to create the perfect series of photos- she was very professional, organized, timely, and amazingly detail oriented. She got some photos of things I would never have thought of, through the eye of a creative, artistic and thoughtful photographer- details in photographs that we can know cherish forever. She was also very in tune with the feelings of the day, going out of her way to provide a fun experience when taking group and solo shots, but was also, somehow, able to remain unseen to get really candid shots of friends and family- and she worked really well with our dog too!

Stephanie was AMAZING! We seriously could not have asked for a better wedding photographer. She was always quick to respond, so easy going, and just an overall wonderful human being! I knew the moment we met her for our engagement shoot, that she would be the perfect fit for us. She trekked through the woods with us for some beautiful photos, and even encouraged us to have photos with our dog and cat (which was super important to me- plus they both loved her as well!)! I never felt rushed with photos or like we missed something. During our whole wedding, I didn't have to worry that a special moment might not be documented. Stephanie was always there, with a smile on her face, doing her thing! She obviously loves what she does and it shows with both her professionalism and the absolutely gorgeous photos she produces. I think I've looked through our wedding album a thousand times and I still can't believe just how freakin' amazing they are! I would recommend her in a heartbeat!

Only book Stephanie if you want the most gorgeous wedding pictures on planet earth. Stephanie was the most professional wedding vendor we had for our day, and everyone in our families loved talking to her! She was so genuinely sweet and clearly loves what she does! She even served as my impromptu therapist when some of the stuff before the wedding was going wrong. She's so personable that you feel like you're working with an old family friend instead of a stuffy, pushy photographer. You don't realize the importance of being photographed "documentary style" until you see the pictures. They're all so natural and you can really see how much we make each other laugh/smile :) Please, don't hesitate in booking her! Our wedding was 3 months ago, and I STILL have wedding guests asking me for her info because the pictures came out so beautifully.

Anyone looking through Stephanie's portfolio can easily see her talent. But what the photographs may not show you is the ease and security you'll feel when you choose Stephanie to be a part of your special event. Candid shots were very important to us and seeing all the beautiful examples in her portfolio convinced me she has a knack for finding the perfect light under any circumstance. But what persuaded us to book her for our wedding was her easy going nature, flexibility, and passion for capturing those special moments. She took the time to get to know us and learn about what we envisioned for our big day. When meeting with Stephanie, you can tell she genuinely wants to know and understand what makes her subjects special. What I liked most about our conversations was that urged me to be open and honest about what was most important to us. We were not sure what to expect from an engagement shoot. Originally, we thought it would be awkward, no matter who we worked with. But Stephanie made us feel totally relaxed, like we were hanging out with an old friend. On the day of our wedding, Stephanie and her partner made everything 100% stress free. We did not have to worry about staging shots, or setting up a place for her; she knew exactly what to do and got it done! We were so thankful afterwards to see that they captured shots that we never even thought of and went out of their way to make sure we could look back and remember every tiny detail. Our wedding party was a lot to handle, but they directed our rowdy groomsmen and distracted bridesmaids like pros. And in addition to her fantastic work at the wedding, Stephanie's edits and prints were beautifully done and timely delivered! Stephanie is extremely talented and made our wedding everything we wanted it to be! I would first ask the couple what type of photos they were looking for...if they said photos flushed with natural beauty, and are not fans of posing for pictures, then this photographer is one in a million! You'd be crazy not to hire her. Trust her direction. She's much younger than I expected upon meeting her; she's very mature and professional. She sees beauty that other photographers miss! I love the way she uses nature's background instead of lighting and props. Stephanie doesn't bring anything to the shoot other than her camera, in which she is amazingly skilled. She's sincere and true to her work. It's easy to see she loves what she does, and she's got such an eye for detail. She was in constant communication with me...she made me feel like I was her only client. I could be myself around her, and she was truly genuine as well. If, or when, another photo shoot should come about in my life; she's going to be the only photographer I call. Stephanie is beautiful inside and out, laid back and patient. She won't settle for just a couple of shots...she's going to shoot until she's satisfied with the entire session. And believe me, you'll be more than happy with the final results.

We loved using Stephanie for our wedding photos and absolutely feel we made the right choice in hiring her. She has a great eye for romantic and natural looking pictures -- even our 'posed' photos look natural. She spent time helping us find an outdoor area for our post-ceremony photos that was beautiful. Stephanie is an AMAZING photographer! When searching for photographers for my wedding, her photos immediately stood out as exactly the kind of theme and feel I was going for. We had an engagement session with her and she was so bright and friendly it helped to ease the tension of posing for photographs. Stephanie was AMAZING. Everyone has been raving about her--guests, bridal party, and me and my husband. Not only were her shots gorgeous and artistic, totally capturing the emotion of the day, but she was so friendly, flexible, and straight-up awesome throughout the whole process.

We went crazy over the stunning engagement photos Stephanie did (and she was more than thrilled to go along with our vintage travel themed shoot!) She braved wind and rain to capture incredible shots, and we're so grateful that she did. The end results are spectacular and we'll treasure them for years to come.

We had such a great time working with Stephanie. She did our engagement photos and they are beautiful! Our photo shoot was delayed twice because of rain and she rescheduled with us easily. She also helped us relax and have fun during the shoot (not always easy when you've never been the subject of a photo shoot before). People keep commenting that we look truly happy in our photos. Yes, that is because we are truly happy together, but also because Stephanie was able to help us enjoy the shoot and it shows in the photos. We loved the poses she had for us and that she was open to our ideas as well. She even worked hard to get a nighttime sparkler picture with us on our wedding day. It is one of my favorites. She did both our engagement and wedding sessions. The quality and efficiency of her work was fantastic and a great value, especially for the quantity of pictures we received. At the wedding she went about her business and captured some great candid shots for us and took time to get all of our decorations and the laundry list of shots we wanted. We both really appreciated how excited she was about her work, letting us know when she thought she had a great picture and that she couldn't wait for us to see them. They were definitely worth the (short) wait! Our favorites change every time we go through them! We definitely hope to utilize her services again in the future!

Stephanie is great and so easy to work with!! She was very professional, yet she did a great job at putting us at ease. She made the shoot very comfortable and relaxing which is reflective in the photos --they capture who really we are.

We did an engagement and wedding session with Stephanie. Not only were her photographs high quality and beautiful, but she was extremely flexible with scheduling and very pleasant to work with. Her services are also affordable compared with others that we looked at. When I decided not to do a bridal portrait session, she refunded that session in full. I would definitely do business with her again.

Stephanie was such a joy to work with. She captured our wedding day so beautifully and told a story through her photography. Her style is laid back, comfortable but chic which fit our personalities. We spoke many times before we had our engagement shoot. She got to knows us well and took such care in capturing the essence of us. For our wedding, Stephanie planned her entire day around us and incorporated our style along with her artist vision to deliver such beautiful images. Perfectly captured our night!

Stephanie and team did an amazing job of perfectly capturing the true 'vibe' of our reception. Stephanie is an amazing photographer! We were so lucky to have her capture our wedding. Stephanie listened to what we wanted and did a great job helping us prepare for the day, with lists, resources, and tips. Stephanie has an eye for catching the special moments of a wedding. She took beautiful portraits of us and our families, but the photos we cherish the most are of the unexpected moments. Our wedding was so beautiful and so much fun and you can see that is all the pictures. I cannot say enough good things about Stephanie!! I found Stephanie on Instagram and immediately reached out. I only had a 5 month engagement, so I was crossing my fingers she had my date. She was so kind, even in her emails. We first did an engagement shoot in downtown Raleigh. She made great suggestions for locations. I loved how she gave us direction on what to do but also let us be ourselves as she captured candid shots. She was so sweet and really got to know us throughout the shoot. Because of our engagement shoot with her, when our wedding day came around my husband and I felt so comfortable in front of the camera and with her. On our wedding day, unexpectedly it SNOWED. A lot. But Stephanie didn't let the snow affect her shots. In fact she did the most amazing job capturing every detail on our day. She was so great in helping me around in the snow, positioning us and just all together being awesome. When we got our pictures back I was over the moon. They were BETTER than I even imagined they would be. So good that Triad Wedding Magazine even asked to feature them. We are so thankful we chose Stephanie as our wedding photographer!

We hired Stephanie to take our engagement photos this past fall. Stephanie is very sweet and the engagement shoot went fine. She was great at directing us for the photos but also good at letting us "act natural". However, after the engagement shoot her responsiveness turned into snail mail and I was having to email her multiple times to receive a response. The lack of communication on her end was very frustrating, as you can imagine. I ordered prints from Stephanie November 8th and never received a status on my order. I reached out again (and again) on December 9th only to receive a response from her that there had been an account issue. She did provide us with a little bit of a refund and submitted our order again. We will (hopefully) be receiving the order in the New Year, two months after it was purchased. Overall, I'm just disappointed with the lack of status updates on our purchase and the lack of responses/communication on her end. These photos are very important to us and our experience with Stephanie failed to meet our expectations of a wedding photographer. Stephanie will not be our wedding photographer.
