My wife and I were searching for a wedding venue in Cape May that would accommodate a smaller guest list on a weekend day; we also wanted to prioritize the reception food for our guests, and had heard that Peter Shields is the best in town (it is!). As soon as we walked into the inn, we knew we had found our venue and right after called another venue to cancel the other tour we had scheduled that day. Not only is the inn right across the street from the beach (with ocean views from the reception area and guest rooms), it is also a beautiful historic building. Amy, their in-house event coordinator, was incredibly helpful throughout the planning process. I was an anxious bride and in the lead up to the wedding I lost count of all the emails I sent her with my questions, which she fully and promptly answered. We also brought A LOT of decor with us (we used silk flowers for our florals), which Amy and her team set up beautifully the morning of. As for the wedding day itself, staying over the night before and after with all our family members is something I'll never forget. PSI was a stunning backdrop to the ceremony, which was held on the front steps of the inn and lawn. It was the perfect space for our 60-person wedding, and during the reception guests flowed easily from the covered porch, to the dance floor, to the bar and dining room. Additionally, my biggest worry was that not many people would dance, with it being a smaller daytime wedding, but the dance floor was packed the entire time! So many guests came up to us to tell us that ours was one of the best weddings they'd every been to, and we have PSI, Amy, and all of the staff to thank for making our dream wedding come true! -

Celebratory Wedding Dinner
We were searching for the perfect venue to host an intimate and special wedding celebration dinner in Cape May -one of our favorite beach towns - and Peter Shields Inn exceeded every expectation. Beautifully located just across the street from the beach in Cape May, NJ, the setting alone is stunning and full of charm.
They graciously accommodated our group of 30 guests in their Brides Room for a private dinner, and despite the smaller wedding size, it felt every bit as meaningful, elegant, and memorable as a larger wedding celebration. We were able to bring in our own wedding cake and have on-site photography, which made the evening feel even more personal and special. Our guests also enjoyed relaxing on the porch with cocktails while my husband and I took photos on the beach. It was such a lovely and seamless experience.
The entire staff was warm, welcoming, and attentive, but the event coordinator, Amy, truly went above and beyond. She was absolutely spectacular; always prompt, thorough, and thoughtful in her communication. She connected us with outstanding local vendors: Khalil for piano, Tim Joyce for photography, Cape Winds Florist for centerpieces, and Bake Works for our cake. Every single vendor she recommended was exceptional and easy to work with.
Amy also ensured that all dietary restrictions were handled with care and kindness, and she went out of her way to help set everything up in advance so that we could simply arrive, relax, and fully enjoy our time with our loved ones. Her patience, professionalism, and genuine care made the entire process stress-free and truly enjoyable.
This was truly a 10/10 experience for us. We highly recommend Peter Shields Inn to anyone looking for a beautiful, intimate, and unforgettable setting to celebrate a marriage or special occasion. It was everything we hoped for and more. -

We cannot say enough good things about Peter Shields Inn and the amazing staff there.
We held a micro wedding (just 14 guests) and the team made us feel as special as a 300 person wedding. When we sat down with Amy, we knew immediately we were going to book with PSI. Amy showed us a book with all the options PSI offered, from photos to vendors, and we appreciated the amount of time she dedicated to helping us design our big day. On the day of the wedding, PSI staff were simply outstanding and I cannot thank them enough! -

My wife and I hosted our wedding at PSI this past June and had a wonderful experience. The staff is so professional and friendly. The food was incredible. Wonderful Wedding Venue on Cape May Beach
Peter Shields was a perfect wedding venue for us from start to finish. Their wedding coordinator Amy helped in so many ways. They literally decorated our tables for us. Wait staff was excellent. Bartender for our party was great. Food was seriously AMAZING! I can’t recommend this venue enough. No regrets booking our wedding here. -

Selecting Peter Shields Inn as our wedding venue was an absolute game-changer in wedding planning and made our lives so much easier!
By booking PSI, it was almost like booking a wedding "kit"--the venue was nailed down for both the ceremony & reception (it included enough chairs for our ceremony), food/catering staff was handled by PSI, and Amy stepped in as our wedding coordinator. Amy was super helpful throughout the entire process and was just such a calming force on the day itself. She is an absolute pro!
The venue is obviously stunning and has made for both wonderful memories and photos. We got tons of positive feedback from our guests and everyone loved the food! PSI being BYOB ended up being a blessing in disguise...we were able to pick out and splurge on exactly what we (and our guests) like most.
We had a very small wedding (24 total) and booked all of the rooms at the inn. One somewhat overlooked bonus at the time of booking: once the restaurant closed, since we had all of the rooms at the inn, we had the place to ourselves. My husband and I, along with our closest friends and family, were all able to continue to hang out in the common areas (downstairs lounge, outside porches/patios, etc.), which ended up being some of our most special time from the day...everyone just sitting around together into the late hours of the night, laughing and talking.
If we had to do it all over again, or if we ever need a venue for another event, I will no doubt book PSI again. It was just lovely, easy (or I should say, "made easy" by all the staff), the location is fabulous (both by the beach but also being in Cape May), and everyone had a great time!

A dream come true
I could not be happier with our decision to host our intimate wedding nupitals at Peter Shields Inn in Cape May. From the stunning beachfront location, exceptional service, and delicious food it was the best day of our lives. Amy, was beyond amazing she made the whole planning process stress-free and seamless. Our guests can not stop raving about the food and atomosphere. I wish I could relive the wedding day again at PSI. It was truly a dream come true. -

Best place to get married
My husband and I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day if we tried! We had an intimate wedding, 20 of us on 2/22/24. Amy was so great! She was very responsive and made the planning process very smooth and helped me with any questions I had. The day of the wedding everything came together so perfectly and effortlessly. On the day of the wedding I wasn’t worried, I knew I could trust PSI- I am so happy I went with my gut. The building is beautiful, so you do not need a lot of decorations. My filet was the best I ever had in my life- and huge! The food was incredible. Service was amazing. Everyone involved was great. All of my guests are asking for a wedding part 2! Seriously, this is the best place in Cape May to get married. It was a dream wedding and a dream day. Can’t wait to come here every year and celebrate. Thank you Amy and the team at PSI for making this day more than incredible. -

Our May wedding at Peter Shields was absolutely perfect!
Amy, the wedding coordinator @Peter Shields, was amazing!! She went above and beyond to make our wedding memorable and positively perfect! The entire staff at PSI was friendly, helpful, and accommodating to all of guests. The food was incredible, our stay at the inn was superb and our event was flawless.
Despite rainy conditions, Amy quickly helped us a pivot to an indoor ceremony seamlessly.

Amy and the team ensured our wedding was perfect from the initial planning stage. I live 6 hours from Cape May and I was not able to visit before the wedding which made me nervous but Amy helped me plan all details via email and phone – all of her advice was incredibly helpful including the well curated vendor list. The toughest decision you will have to make is selecting the entrees and apps from the gourmet menu. Here is a tip, pick the asparagus in puff pastry for appetizer – my aunt is mad at me for not asking the chef for the recipe. I cannot thank the PSI team enough for making my dream of an elegant wedding come true.

Our wedding dinner at PSI was AMAZING. The food was AMAZING. The service was AMAZING. Everyone was so kind and really went out of their way to help you. They made me feel relaxed and able to enjoy myself. I cannot say enough about Amy, PSI’s event coordinator. She was very responsive and helped me plan the whole dinner. She sent me recommendations and answered every question I had. We had a small wedding of about 30 people and this was the PERFECT location. 100/10. -

Our wedding at Peter Shield’s was a dream! From booking the venue to our ride in the getaway car we were always taken care of. The entire staff was so accommodating and wonderful not only to myself, and my now Husband but our guests as well! Amy, the Wedding and Event Coordinator was incredible every step of the way. I was a bit of a nervous Bride but I was always put at ease as Amy very, very patiently answered all of my many questions. Amy even came in on her day off on the day before our wedding to go over everything with us and to make sure we were taken care of.
If you’re familiar with Cape May, you know Peter Shield’s is one of the best restaurants in town and all of the food at the wedding was phenomenal! All of our guests really enjoyed their meal and appetizers during the cocktail hour. Not only was every morsel of food that was served delicious but everything had such beautiful presentation which was super important to us.
Peter Shield’s Inn is such a gorgeous venue from the exterior of the building and the landscaping outside. In fact, we didn’t do much for decor outside because it’s so beautiful year-round. The inside of the inn is such a beautiful and historic building making it the perfect backdrop for our Cape May wedding.
To summarize, Peter Shield’s is a crown jewel of Cape May and it made our wedding day shine and my Husband and I can’t recommend it enough!

Stunning venue perfect for a more intimate-feeling wedding
PSI was the only venue we toured — we signed on the spot and couldn't be happier with our decision! It's the PERFECT venue for a unique, classy wedding with a more intimate feel. We hosted ~50 guests and they raved about the atmosphere, food, live band, daytime ceremony/reception, everything. PSI is a truly stunning venue — so beautiful that we spent $0 on decor. Cape May was also the perfect backdrop for the weekend and everyone loved exploring the beach and nearby bars outside of the event. Amy and the entire staff were incredibly kind, helpful, and accommodating and made planning a breeze. Take advantage of all PSI has to offer, such as the butlered desserts instead of a classic cake. The food is seriously out of this world delicious. My husband and I had no vision for our wedding other than "not a typical ballroom" and we almost can't believe how lucky we were to find such a gorgeous venue that worked for our budget. Take it from my grandmother, who texted me the following a few days after the wedding: "I found the venue to be the nicest I have been to, and I have been to a lot of highbrow weddings." 5000/5 stars. Can't recommend PSI enough! -

Peter Shields was number one on our list when we were looking for somewhere in Cape May that was romantic, lowkey but classy, and had incredible food. They can accommodate up to 100 people for a wedding which was perfect for what we were looking for. Amy was a great help through the process of contacting local vendors and answering questions. We got married on a weekend with a hurricane on the way and I was a mess all week because our hope was to get married on the steps outside. A miracle happened in the Cape May bubble and Amy and our vendors and staff at Peter Shields had us outside for our dream wedding and it went beautifully. The timing of everything was down to a science concerning the ceremony, cocktail hour and dinner set up. Everyone was highly professional, courteous, and kept it fun and alive with the fear of a hurricane happening on our wedding day. We wouldn't have wanted it any other way and we are so happy to have created memories to last the rest of our lives all starting at Peter Shields. -

We had our wedding of 31 people at PSI on 12/11/21. Everything from the food to the service to the small touches was perfect! Amy was so great at managing the big and small worries and worked with us to create a day that was so special. Often at weddings, the bride and groom are so busy running around that they don't eat until dinner, but the staff at PSI ensured my husband and I had food and drink during photo hour. I cannot recommend enough! -

Absolutely Perfect!
We never wanted a large wedding and despite covid regulations, we were only able to have 35 max people, and we were ok with that. It encouraged us to create a day about us, which is what a wedding should be about. Amy and her team at PSI executed every detail perfectly. Every guest raved at how perfect out wedding was. The day was just simply magical! If your on the fence, the food and enbiance are second to none! It was simply perfect!! -

Pure Perfection!
Amy & all of the PSI staff members made our wedding day such a perfect and memorable day. We truly appreciated all of their help with our questions, requests and the quick responses to all of our e-mails! The staff members were extremely helpful and kind to all guest. The food was delicious and the whole environment was pure perfection! They made our day run seamlessly and placed everything exactly where we wanted them including the flowers on the Cake! My mother is handicap and they pulled out all the stops to make sure she could be apart of our day and feel comfortable while doing so! We can’t thank PSI enough for their professionalism on executing such a perfect day! -

Perfect spot for a wedding
This was the perfect venue for our wedding. Because of COVID we eloped. Even though we were having a small wedding Amy still gave us her full attention. They worked with us to make it a perfect day. Amy came in on her day off to ensure that everything went smoothly. We were given undivided attention from all the staff for our entire stay. I would recommend this venue. If I had to do it again I would still choose PSI. -

My fiance and I selected PSI because we wanted something small and non-traditional (we ended up with approximately 40 guests). Before we even booked, Amy was available to answer my questions and was extremely helpful. The whole experience with PSI was excellent. I had a bit of sticker shock initially at the price per person, but it was all inclusive and I knew I wanted this venue. There were no hidden fees or surprises, and I really appreciated that everything was included and I knew it all up front. Knowing what other friends have been through with hidden expenses, PSI was actually relatively reasonable. On our wedding weekend, the staff was fantastic, the atmosphere was wonderful (our friends and family couldn't say enough good things), and the food was fantastic. I would recommend PSI to anyone looking for an intimate wedding with a great atmosphere! -
Nicole Sent on 09/30/2017The Peter Shields Inn is the perfect wedding venue for a quaint oceanfront wedding! The B&B is picture perfect and the food and service was amazing!! We decided to forgo the beach wedding and say our vows on the front steps of PSI and we were pleasantly surprised by the gorgeous fall decor and abundance of monarch butterflies that surrounded us! Amy made sure all accommodations were handled and that the day was stress free. She went above and beyond when my son lost his boutonnière and made him a new one just moments before I walked down the isle. Every detail was attended to which allowed us to just relax and enjoy the happiest day of our lives!!! We are looking forward to celebrating many happy anniversaries with PSI in the years to come!!

As a second wedding, we wanted a smaller and more intimate venue and Peter Shields Inn did not disappoint. It was so unique and you could not beat the location directly across from the ocean. It allowed us to have the best of both worlds - a beach ceremony and an amazing indoor reception. We chose the stationed reception and the food was delicious. Amy, the wedding coordinator, was with us every step of the way by answering all of our questions and assisting us with logistics. The staff was very professional and attentive - everything went smoothly. If you are looking to host a smaller wedding in Cape May, definitely consider Peter Shields Inn. -

Our Wedding was the most beautiful day at the most beautiful place (Peter Shields Inn) in Cape May. We got married on Saturday of Labor Day weekend 2022 and everything about the day was perfect. Amy and the staff are masters at making you feel at ease and making sure everything is taken care of. They were a huge part in making our day special.
The food was incredible and the atmosphere, from the inviting front porch to the cozy bar and dining areas, were perfectly romantic for our special day.
We had about 60 people for our Beach wedding and the cocktail hour and reception following in PSI. Amy helped coordinate everything with such ease that we didn’t need to worry. We rented out the entire inn for our guests and everyone raved about the fantastic food and hospitality of the Inn. We made good use of the newly installed patio area for some little gatherings the night before and night after the wedding. If you are looking for a beach wedding or a Cape May venue for your special day then you should put Peter Shields Inn at the top of your list. The atmosphere, the food and the staff are all the best you can get. You will not be disappointed. Our guests still rave about the food and how great of a day it was for all. Matt and Deb. -

Intimate venue for a beautiful beach wedding!
My husband and I have been big fans of PSI for 15 years. Every time we visit Cape May, dinner at PSI is a must, so when we decided to finally tie the knot, the reception location was a no brainer.
Here are some of the advantages of having your wedding there:
1) Flexibility – if you are a planner, and you want to have your ceremony on the beach, you have a built-in plan B and C for bad weather – ceremony on the front lawn or inside the on the grand staircase.
2) Planning support from the PSI staff- we were provided a list of recommended local vendors. All were great partners to make our day extra-special, were well familiar with the inn and provided excellent service. Since we were not local, this made things much easier. Amy was also patient and accommodating when there were last-minute changes.
3) Beautiful venue – the venue itself, grounds and views are fantastic. The wedding guests were basically given free range, from enjoying the sea breeze outside on the front porch to a separate kid’s area that was set up on one of the sunporches.
Some of the things that we felt were not as expected: We were a bit disappointed with some of the food – our expectations were very high due to past experiences with dinners. The presentation of some of the passed hors d’oeuvres and cocktail hour stations was not up to our expectations. Also, the fish option for the main course was overcooked across the board. Lastly, make sure that you are clear on how many servers will be working at your event. Although they were very professional and accommodating, they seemed stretched.
Overall, I highly recommend PSI for any event. It is a Cape May gem. We had a wonderful, memorable and intimate wedding.
