Wedding Planner was Absolutely Brilliant
Working with Orpha Events to plan our wedding was the best decision we made throughout the whole process. Katie was incredibly reliable, communicative, and receptive to our ideas and values. She was creative, strategic, and persistent when it came to executing our vision, and the Orpha team pulled off a stunning wedding without any major stress placed on us or our families. It was really fantastic to work with them! -

We worked with Marisa and Cait and they were such an AWESOME team to work with!! The planning experience with them was so fun. They were incredibly personable, professional, and on top of every one of our needs. They made the planning experience feel so easy and natural! And that's not an easy thing to do while planning any type of event. From idea generation, gift bag purchasing, coordinating with vendors, and creating the right timeline and flow, they did it all with ease. We would work with them again in a heartbeat! -

The absolute best! Flexible, personable, reliable, you name it!
I first met Marisa from Orpha Events when touring wedding venues for our May 2020 wedding as she was setting up for another beautiful wedding! After chatting for just a few minutes, she instantly felt like family and was so warm and inviting. Choosing Orpha to help plan our wedding was hands-down the easiest decision we made, if only the rest could have been that simple! After visiting the Charlottesville area only briefly to look at venues, we booked a venue that I soon came to regret. Marisa and her team did not hesitate to schedule visits to many lesser known venues that felt more suited to us and never made me feel bad about being so indecisive, they were all just supportive and wonderful and wanted us to be happy. We finally settled on a brand new venue that Marisa knew of because of personal connections--she is so well-connected in the area, it is so helpful, she has so many creative ideas! The whole team was great as we finished off the planning and were ready to go come March 2020 and then the Coronavirus pandemic changed everything. Even as the wedding world was turned on it's head, Marisa and Orpha were nothing but supportive, empathetic, flexible, and available to help us navigate these uncharted waters. I think we had weekly calls and some were just checking in to see how we were feeling. We quickly pivoted from a large wedding to an elopement with a new date (just a few days before the original), new officiant, and new photographer! Marisa was able to work with our vendors to alter everything and made it so easy on us. We moved the time up because of rain, had the venue to ourselves, and had such a wonderful time, we also arrived home to an amazing catering delivery that had been specially customized to our now tiny celebration. Our wedding ended up being beautiful, personal, and intimate. Marisa and the Orpha team pulled everything off with such ease and grace, and bonus they are all very fun and funny to be around! We will never be able to thank them enough! -

Last Winter I had the experience of working with the Orpha Events team at a wedding at Early Mountain. From the side of a vendor (musician) it was a very well organized event from the start of my prelude to the end of the cocktail hour.

Can't recommend Orpha highly enough!
The best decision I made when it came to our wedding (besides choosing my husband of course! :)) was hiring Marisa! I work with lots of event planners at my job, but have never worked with anyone as good as Marisa and her team. They not only put together a seamless event, but they think of every single detail to make the day just absolutely perfect. And so many event planners can make an event go off without a hitch, but Marisa actually makes the planning process fun! She knows the absolute best vendors to work with, and on top of that, every vendor loves working with her, so you end up getting super special treatment. Marisa made our vision come to life and everything was more beautiful than I could have ever imagined. Neither my husband or I are at all artistic, but Marisa took our tastes and artfully combined them and designed the perfect look for us. Plus Marisa's team is equally as wonderful and made me feel super comfortable and part of the Orpha family from the very beginning. If you want a stress-free and fun planning process (as it should be!!), highly recommend working with Orpha! -

We couldn't recommend Marisa and the team at Orpha Events highly enough. Thanks to Marisa's guidance, we were able to pull off our wedding in just four months. She was able to distill a very overwhelming process down to very doable decisions and steps, prioritized in order of what was most important to us. She helped my wife and I work together to make sure the things we both cared about were represented in our ceremony and event, and to budget for each of them accordingly. Her budget insight was especially valuable in this process. As we worked to make decisions, she was always reasonably available via phone or email when it was time for a check-in. Furthermore, Marisa really tried to understand our style, especially my wife's, and then match us up with the right vendors, while also accounting for price. We loved who she recommended for a venue, catering, a cake, a band, photography, our flowers and how she handled complicated things like transportation and parking. Additionally, Orpha was able to offer smaller ancillary services like table decoration, name cards, on site lighting, and videography at fair additional prices. These elements totally elevated the event and were worth it. On the big weekend (rehearsal dinner + wedding day), it was so great to just show up and know that everything was under control. Marisa and her team allowed my wife and I to make the most of a weekend that we will never forget and also found little ways to treat us throughout the time (fun chocolates on the table, to-go food as we left the ceremony, wedding gifts seamlessly gathered and handed off to parents, etc.). Probably the highest piece of praise I could share is that time and again, our friends and our parents' friends have approached us and shared that our wedding was probably one of the most memorable they have been to. It was our goal to bless all of our guests through great hospitality and thank them for the ways they had invested in each of us over the years. Marisa and her team helped make this happen at a reasonable price that paid for itself time and again. Thank you to Marisa and her team at Orpha! Again, could not recommend them highly enough! -
Caitlin Sent on 08/04/2018It was an absolute joy and honor having Marisa & Sarah as our wedding planners. We planned our wedding over the course of a year and a half with Marisa by our side every step of the way. Even when our wedding was still months away, she devoted her time and attention to each and every email. Her professionalism, creativity, and originality showed throughout the entire day. She thinks of absolutely everything - umbrellas for when it started "sprinkling" during our outdoor ceremony (yikes!) to HANDCRAFTING derby horse stirrers for our Mint Juleps (Hey, Cinco De Mayo wedding!). And yes, I said HANDCRAFTING. Our wedding day turned out to resemble exactly who we are as a couple, with many guests commenting to this day on how perfect the details and day turned out to be. We cannot begin to thank Marisa & Sarah enough for everything they did to make our wedding day stunning!

Sandra Sent on 07/04/2018We were so fortunate that Marisa Vrooman was my daughter’s wedding planner. I don’t know where to start singing her praises. Every vendor she directed us to was absolutely perfect. Marisa completely understood the spirit and vibe we wanted to convey. Elegant, simple, personal, whimsical. She nailed it! Nature Composed did an incredible job of weaving together gorgeous local blooms in a way that not only enhanced the Blue Ridge Mountains, but intertwined the easy spirit of the celebration. L'Etoile Catering hit it out of the ball park with their locally sourced menu. Every person remarked that it was the best wedding dinner they had ever had. L'Etoile Catering captured the vibe perfectly. Delicious, unfussy, memorable and served impeccably. Cakes by Rachel brought us an absolutely delicious cake that was simple and elegant. And Sera Petras Photography… tears come to my eyes as I recall her images. Her work is absolutely stunning. She used her craft to perfectly capture the essence of my daughter and son-in-law and the spirit of their joyous day. None of this could have come together without Marisa’s careful watch. She watched, she cared, she orchestrated… but all in a way that lowered anxiety, made it easy, and made it fun. Our wedding and family has many pieces and parts. It’s complicated. Marisa and her team navigated it all with respect and care. The day wasn’t without glitches. Again, Marisa and her team were completely on top of it. I had no anxiety on the wedding day, first because my daughter married her perfect match, and second because Marisa had our back. Several people came up to me at the wedding to remark at how incredible our wedding planner was. She helped us craft the perfect day to truly reflect my daughter and son-in-law. She executed it in a way that was professional, compassionate, and personable. She followed through in way that speaks volumes of her integrity and care. Marisa is more than a wedding planner, she’s a friend we now hold dear.

Nicole Sent on 04/13/2018Working with Marisa and the Orpha team was an amazing experience! My guests commented that every single detail was clearly well thought out and that's exactly how I felt. From the start of my experience with Orpha, I knew I would be well taken care of and in the weeks leading up to the wedding, I especially felt that support. My big day was just as beautiful and magical as I hoped it would be. While the weather was crazy at my wedding and there were minor transportation issues, I always felt very well taken care of, very special, and I literally enjoyed every single second of it! Family and friends have continued to contact me and my husband raving about this event and it makes me so happy!!

Caitlin Sent on 02/08/2018I knew Marisa was the planner for us after just one phone call.. Her positive energy is totally contagious and I felt like I'd known her for years. I immediately knew she cared more about getting to know us than selling her services.
She continually validated our decision by just being her; She answered every question, phone call, email, or text we sent, she was a consistent source of emotional and physical support throughout planning, she was patient when we needed her to be and strong-willed when we couldn't make a decision, and she took the time to get to know our families and understand what was most important to us. Her attention to detail mixed with her enthusiasm and creative vision gave us the absolute wedding of our dreams.
I can't say enough great things about her. We hired a planner and now have a lifelong friend! -

User3406756 Sent on 02/08/2018Marissa is a joy to work with; her dedication to her clients & her craft is incredible. She continually goes above and beyond for her clients and vendors. During a recent wedding with some unexpected rain, she was able to save the reception by having a tent brought in last minute to cover the band so they could set up on the outside terrace. She even went above and beyond by having her team bring all the heavy rental furniture up under the venue awnings, stage it for the guests then have it brought back out and stage it again once the rain subsided. She then took it an extra step by adding countless amounts of candles to help highlight the setup so the guests could see the rental seating looking just as beautiful as it would have had it not been raining earlier. Her ability to run events smoothly & efficiently makes her one of the best in the industry. In addition to her unparalleled event execution, her eye for design is exquisite. Marissa creates the most beautiful well run weddings & any bride would be lucky to have her on their team!

Katie Sent on 09/27/2017I can’t praise Orpha events enough for the outstanding job Marisa Vrooman did to create the wedding that my daughter had envisioned. It all came to life through her capable hands and creative talents. I felt that she embraced our family and guided us through all of the ins and outs and perils of successful wedding planning. She really grasped what my daughter wanted and delivered that and more.
We also trusted all her vendor recommendations and she never let us down. Every one we worked with did their job with skill and enthusiasm. Several people commented on how friendly and happy everyone seemed. All of our guests commented that it was the best food, best cake , best music, prettiest table settings, nicest photographer, coolest lights ... they had ever seen.
And as mother of the bride I am most grateful that Marisa delivered on her promise that I wouldn't have to do anything on the day of the event except have a blast with my family and friends. If there were any hiccups I wasn't aware of them. And I really doubt there were any - Orpha Events is that good! -

Colleen Sent on 04/18/2018My husband and I were just married this past weekend, and we laughed, rejoiced, and felt the full force of everyone's love radiating at us throughout the entire day. We were able to do so because we had absolute confidence in Marisa, Sarah, and the rest of the team at Orpha Events.
The ceremony and the reception were well-organized, well-orchestrated, and stunning in their design while still true to our original vision. It felt beautiful, fun-filled, and personal, which is exactly what we wanted. The day felt seamless in part because Marisa and her team were efficient, responsive, and detail-oriented throughout the planning process and on the day of. As an example, the day before the wedding, I realized that we didn't actually purchase any flowers for guests to throw while we left the Chapel. A quick conversation with Marisa, and *poof* fresh flower petals rained down on us the next day. Sarah similarly ensured that we had food packed up and waiting for us in our getaway car should we be hungry after our long day.
When we met Marisa over google hangout, we were immediately impressed by her ease, laughter, and appreciation for her clients' story and vision. She wants YOU to be YOU, and your event to reflect you! After that initial meeting, Alex and I knew that we wanted to work with her, and she didn't disappoint. I feel as though I have a true friend in her now and will continue to sing her praises. Our guests must have been similarly blown away because several have contacted us, asking for Marisa's contact information. Marisa and her team at Orpha are true gems. -

Marisa and her team were invaluable on our wedding day! They were extremely well organized and coordinated all the moving parts with professionalism and skill. We were extremely grateful that our families and friends were able to enjoy the day as much as we did because Marisa was handling everything behind the scenes.
After getting engaged, my first call was to Marisa, but choosing a planner stalled when the pandemic hit the US. Thankfully, we did not make any wedding plans prior to lockdown, but we were a bit depressed that our wedding might very well not happen in the next 12-18 months. A couple months later, Marisa was kind enough to check in on us and started a very open conversation about alternative wedding options. We truly appreciated this gesture as her time is very valuable and we had not booked her yet. We decided to hire her even without a firm idea of what or how we were going to get married. She was very transparent about her cost and what was included. Having no experience hiring a planner before, I felt like I could make this first of many, many decisions with confidence.
Marisa was a solid choice for a few notable reasons. One, she found an incredible venue that we would have never found on our own. She was also the only reason we got permission from the owner to have a wedding on her property. Two, our wedding came in at our budget despite the venue's lack of catering facilities and a last minute decision to add heaters and a small tent. Three, she was able to find many last-minute vendors including a photographer for the rehearsal and a make-up artist after we initially decided against make-up. Most notably, our original officiant had plans to travel immediately prior to our wedding, which was an issue due to the obvious Covid risk. Marisa found the perfect replacement, who disclosed to us that he doesn't typically do very many weddings. We were so grateful to have him and his role made our day that much more meaningful.
Marisa saved us so much time, money, headaches, and stress. It was a great decision and she is the reason our wedding turned out so well. I can honestly say it would have been a disaster if we attempted it on our own! -

Danielle Sent on 07/14/2018We planned our wedding with team Orpha over approximately a year and 4 months. We had a venue with complex needs, and almost every detail had to be brought in. The day of - everything went PERFECTLY. This was especially impressive because it rained the day of our almost completely outdoor wedding, and any rain-related accommodations and changes had to be made quickly...and it was handled so well all the guests commented that the rain didn't even detract from anything. Marisa's eye for design is amazing - she really captured our vision down to the tee and brought it to life. I do feel like for the value of the full-planning wedding services that she offered for us, that she does provide more than many other wedding planners that we interviewed.
Overall - Marisa (and her staff) are all WONDERFUL and we can say we felt like friends by the end. We will miss working with her! -
