    Perfect Venue!

Colonial Dames was the perfect venue for our small wedding the first weekend in October. We had 81 guests, and were lucky to have nice weather so that the ceremony could take place outside. It was 65 and sunny on the day-of, and all of our guests raved about how beautiful the building was, how special it was, and how rare it is to find something so hidden in Center City. My aunt said that it really high lights all that Philadelphia has to offer, and we agree. A special shout out to Adriana for being so awesome and knowing exactly how to help us! She made this beautiful place shine!

    Best Venue in Philly

WOW. I can't believe how perfect my wedding at the Colonial Dames in Philly was. I owe much of the success of the event to the folks at Colonial Dames, particularly Adriana, and her amazing spirit and professionalism. She was fab to work with from the first time we met, all the way through the process and the day after our wedding when we picked up our remaining affects. She was always flexible, allowing us to make appointments to check out the venue, and gave her best recommendations of how to hold the wedding in the space. The Dames has a gorgeous, lush outdoor space, only to be matched by their indoor space including a beautiful aqua blue room on the 2nd Floor. I just got my photos back from the wedding and we can't believe how great all of the spaces photographed, including the rooms where we got ready. All of my guests agreed that this space is the best kept secret in Philadelphia. I never thought I could afford a wedding in such a gorgeous place in Rittenhouse Square, but it was possible and beyond my expectations at the Colonial Dames. Thank you Adriana!!!!

    Amazing Venue

My husband and I have so many great things to say about the Colonial Dames Society. We had never heard of the venue until we recommended it when searching for a wedding venue in Philly, not an easy feat. The instant we saw it we knew this was the perfect setting of which we wanted to get married. It is truly beautiful, in an amazing and central location, and was so unique. It checked all our boxes in that we wanted - our ceremony outside, reception inside, with the possibility of having both inside pending weather. It also made for the perfect capacity of the amount of guests we intended on having.

This venue is certainly a hidden gem in the middle of Philadelphia. We could never imagine getting married anywhere else. We had so many friends and family members compliment the venue, and how beautiful the wedding was. It truly feels like an oasis in the middle of the city. The location was absolutely perfect. It felt so special to get married here and the second we saw the venue - we jumped on it.

Adriana was fantastic to work with. She has a great personality and will help and assist you with what you need in terms of the venue. She truly holds down the fort, is easy going, and great to work with. She made things stress-free and is a great resource. Her husband is also wonderful and provided additional great resources for us. If you're looking to have your wedding in a beautiful and truly unique spot in the middle of Philly, then this is the place.

The Colonial Dames was a fantastic venue. I was looking for something small and unique in the city, and this fit every checkbox. Adrianna was great to work with. And Power Catering has worked at the venue many times before, making the pair absolutely perfect. We had a quick rehearsal the day before and Adrianna was there to make sure we had everything all set. Day of, she was great in making sure everything ran smoothly during set up and the event itself (and was very patient in all the questions family/moms had for her). I received so many compliments on the venue itself. It has so much character. We were able to do the ceremony outdoors, even though it had rained all morning. There is a smaller patch of turf, so we did the ceremony there so that no heels sunk into the grass! There's also the possibility of doing the ceremony indoors in the living room as well. With 80 people, there was ample room upstairs for 8 tables, the dj, and still a small dance floor area. There is a small room to the bride to get ready in, but it was a little too small for me, so I got ready at the Warwick just a block or two away. There's a small library on the first floor for the groom to get ready it. It's a great gem--small, but beautiful.

The Colonial Dames was the first place we found online and the first place we visited in person. Mere blocks from where my wife and I had our first date, we knew after about 5 minutes that this would be the perfect place for our wedding. Adriana was great to work with, the price of the venue was very affordable and all in all it was the perfect setting for our ~70 person wedding. We got so many comments from guests (including some Philly natives) who could not believe we had found such a beautiful place. Thank you again!

We cannot say enough good things about our experience having our wedding at Colonial Dames! We came across the site as we started searching the Philadelphia wedding scene for beautiful and historic venues. We both knew that we wanted a smaller wedding that felt intimate and uniquely ours. We weren’t looking for a big ballroom, a country club, or a traditional event/reception hall. Importantly, we also wanted the venue to reflect the beauty and history that we admire about Philadelphia. When we found Colonial Dames – it just felt right! We were pleasantly surprised to discover that this hidden gem is located in the heart of Rittenhouse, but with its lovely gardens and indoor/outdoor flow it has the power to make you feel just enough secluded from the big city. When we went to tour it our search stopped there – we loved it!

Adriana, the event coordinator at Colonial Dames, is equally as lovely as the venue itself. She was so easy to work with throughout the whole planning process and was very organized and prepared the night of the wedding. It is clear that Adriana has been doing this for a long time and loves her job. Everything ran so smoothly because of the staff at Colonial Dames. We could not be happier with our wedding and we would highly recommend this location to anyone!

We had our wedding at Colonial Dames this past August. It was such a wonderfully beautiful place to have it. We couldn't have been happier. Our wedding guests all remarked on what a gorgeous, unique place it was!

Ceremony: We had our ceremony in the outside garden. We had the ceremony up on the platform and our guests sat on the lawn. It was a gorgeous space. Adriana let us know that the air conditioner unit behind can be really loud so we worked with our DJ and had a microphone. All the guests could hear the ceremony fine and we lucked out with beautiful weather. They do have a great rain plan too as well - just in case.

Cocktail hour: our main bar was in the sunroom area and everyone could mingle outside and downstairs. This worked out perfectly - again b/c the weather was so nice.

Reception: We had about 100 guests even and split our reception between the upstairs and downstairs. We had a stationed dinner so the guests flowed between upstairs and downstairs all night. Our Photo Booth was also downstairs in one of the small rooms - this worked out great and it was nice for the photobooth to have its own space.

Coordinator: Adriana was so easy to work with. She was always reachable and accommodated all of our requests. She let us bring all of our alcohol and props the day before during rehearsal which made things really easy. she was a joy to work. Some of our guests even lost some things at the wedding and Adriana made sure to contact us and placed it aside for us to pick up after we got back from our honeymoon.

Affordability: This placed worked out so well for us b/c we were able to pick our own caterer (Birchtree - who we also loved) and bring our own alcohol -- this really helped with our budget and we were even able to return the unopened liquor and wine to the wholesaler we brought it from after the wedding. If you are on a budget, this place is perfect without feeling you're skimping on anything.

We could not have been happier to have had my daughter's wedding at Colonial Dames. The setting is so warm and intimate. The gardens are lovely and perfect for an outdoor ceremony. The reception space flowed so well. The real plus is Adrianna Robinson, the coordinator....who was so gracious and helpful from the first moment we visited the venue to the day after the wedding when she came in to work so that we could pick up some items left there. Adrianna made sure everything worked seemingly effortlessly. She interfaced with the florist and caterer easily and competently. She assisted in so many ways to make this wonderful wedding day beyond my expectations. WHenever, I give a party, I tell myself to prepare for at least one thing to go wrong. Well, Nothing did!!!

Colonial Dames is a hidden gem in Philadelphia. We knew from the moment we walked in that we wanted to have our reception at Colonial Dames. We were lucky we had a beautiful day and could have cocktail hour outside although the first floor is beautiful. The upstairs ballroom is a great size for a hundred guests to dance and mingle after dinner. Our guests, many of whom were from the Philadelphia area, couldn't believe such a great space existed on a little side street off Rittenhouse. In addition, Adriana is a pleasure to work with and made everything so easy. She went out of her way to accommodate us and coordinate with our caterer.

Colonial Dames was the shining star of our wedding. This unique, historic venue is tucked away on a side street in Center City Philadelphia. You would never know it was there unless you were looking! The venue is absolutely gorgeous with authentic and antique decor, large windows, beautiful hardwood floors, and absolutely stunning gardens. The hidden garden in the back is really the shining jewel of the location. We had our ceremony outside and took lots of pictures at the location.

Adriana, the site coordinator, was so kind, accommodating and helpful. We felt very cared for! Everything went smoothly! She handled all of the deliveries and was so accommodating about opening up the venue for us and having us pick up things after the wedding.

I highly, highly recommend Colonial Dames for your wedding.

We cannot sing the praises of the NSCDA for our wedding venue enough. Tucked in to downtown Philadelphia is this beautifully maintained historic home with a gorgeous garden and an impeccable ballroom that you are not sure how they fit in to that house. Adrianna was amazing to work with and was flexible and responsive at all times. The venue makes throwing a party or wedding incredibly simple with the well maintained spaces and their own set of outdoor chairs for ceremonies and indoor tables and chairs for receptions. We could not have been any luckier to stumble upon this venue for our wedding day - the NSCDA made it truly a day to remember!

If you're looking for an intimate, beautiful, and vintage wedding venue in Center City Philadelphia and not be contracted into $100/plate catering, this may be your only choice. No, seriously! They were very flexible (hint: more flexible than their contract says) -- let me bring decorations and liquor a day or two before the wedding, bring my own caterer, and pick up all the remaining stuff the day following the wedding.
Honestly, it was just gorgeous. I got TONS of compliments on how beautiful it was and I am still thinking about it! We had our ceremony and our reception here. One of the major draws was that it has a great weather contingency plan -- a really great garden part (with two choices on how to face your wedding) as well as a charming sort of living room area with pretty pillars and a nice fireplace.
It was also nice to have a little history to go along with everything, especially considering how much history this city has!

Not only was Colonial Dames one of the most affordable places we researched, but it was by far the prettiest and best party atmosphere. Adrianna is so welcoming and warm and pleasant to work with. Any time I needed to come by to take pictures and measurements for my decorations or meet with my DJ or caterer, she was very accommodating. Our guests loved the freedom to move around from the gardens to the parlor to the ballroom. Our dinner was set up in stations, with no assigned seats. We had tables inside and outside and we lucked out with beautiful weather. A lot of our guests commented on how much they liked this reception space compared to other weddings they'd been to. Its unique, beautiful, cozy, and in a great location close to tons of hotels. Look no further!

My husband and I were looking for months for the perfect venue for our Philadelphia wedding. Our budget and number of guests were two factors that made it a challenge. Thank god a friend suggested we check out Colonial Dames. Perfect location, perfect size and price, and perfect atmosphere. I'm a bit of a U.S. history nerd, so the decor of the house was a big plus for me. Adrianna is so warm and welcoming and fun to work with. She made herself available any time I needed to come by to take measurements and pictures, or meet with my DJ or caterer there. Also, she didn't seem to mind that we wanted to decorate with 1001 origami cranes throughout the house and garden! Not everyone would be so nonchalant...Our guests all commented on what a nice place it was. They enjoyed moving between the gardens, downstairs parlor, and upstairs ballroom. We had food stations, and no assigned seats, and it seemed to work pretty well for our 105 guests. You probably could fit enough tables for 105 guests to all eat in the ballroom, but we didn't want to cram everyone in and sacrifice dance space (dancing was a priority!), so we spread out the tables over the whole property. Look no further than this gem.

Adrianna at Colonial Dames made the whole experience and absolute delight. We were always able to reach her and scheduling our walk through, rehearsal, and rental deliveries was easy. The venue seemed to get more beautiful every time we saw it, culminating with a wall of blooming roses on the day of our wedding. We could not have imagined anything better, and we are so glad that we were able to have our wedding there.

Dames is a beautiful locale right in the hear of Center City. It is so reasonably priced relative to the rest of the Center City venues and Adriana, the Executive Assistant was wonderfully accommodating, helpful, and awesome all around. We couldn't have asked for a better venue for our ceremony and cocktail hour.

Adriana was a pleasure to work with. i must have hugged her at least 10 times. she really stepped up on the day of the wedding and ran around as a liaison. i trusted her to get the vendors in order and she would find me and ask any questions and then take care of the them. the venue is such a gem, nestled away in the heart of center city. i went to college just blocks away and always loved rittenhouse square. who would have thought i'd move away to nyc only to be getting married back in philly 6 years later? i want someone else to get married here so i can come back! i sure will be dropping in to say hello if i am in the area.

The Colonial Dames is a hidden gem with an amazing outdoor space in the heart of Center City. Adriana is the coordinator there and she is amazing. I don't know if I would have made it down the aisle without her - she even fixed my dress before I walked! The house is beautiful with an elegant upstairs ballroom. We had about 85 guests and had plenty of space for a dance floor. The Dames is also considerably less expensive than many other venues in downtown Philadelphia.

We instantly fell in love with the Colonial Dames for the following reasons:
    - 1921 historic two-story house, hard wood floors, true divided-lite arch top windows with original single-pane glazing (seeds and distortion present), tastefully decorated, in excellent condition
    - two interior entertaining spaces, one on the first floor for cocktail hour and/ or ceremony, one light filled ballroom on the second floor for the reception
    - two beautifully manicured private gardens, a paved patio, and loggia
    - space for up to 100 guests (we were aiming for 60)
    - location, location, location! affordable Rittenhouse Square space, off the beaten path, conveniently located near at least 5 hotels within a 3 block radius
    - a beautiful on-site library tucked away from the main spaces, perfect for a pre-wedding hang out for our bridal party
Adriana Robinson, Executive Assistant of the NSCDA, was an absolute pleasure to work with. She granted us access to the Dames on multiple occasions -- our initial site visit, two walk-thrus with our caterer, and one site meeting with our florist. During our initial walk-thru Adriana cautioned against getting married along the west side of the gardens where a nearby medical office building's HVAC equipment could be seen and heard. We took this warning to heart, and chose a site underneath a brick arch in a quieter section of the garden. (We still had the DJ provide a microphone for our officiant.)
Adriana helped us cull the list of preferred venodrs, pointing out companies that would be willing to work a smaller wedding. All of the preferred caterers we talked to allowed us to byo-booze. The Dames also has a wide variety of site furnishings, including some 60" and 72" round tables, several rectangular tables, and 240 white chairs (two sets indoor and outdoor) which helped us keep our rental costs down. Adriana was very accommodating, and worked within our budget.
Our guests were in awe of the Dames, and we had an absolutely fabulous time.

Colonial Dames is truly a hidden gem in Center City! The garden in back is so gorgeous and perfect for pictures. The house has so much history and character that you barely feel the need to over decorate. Adrianna was so sweet and accomodating. She allowed us to drop off our alcohol and decorations the day before and she had everthing ready for us to be picked up the next day. One of Jon's relatives uses a wheelchair and it was just an inch too big to get out of the elevator upstairs but thankfully Adrianna's husband and another relative of our's helped get him up the stairs which was extremely kind of them. They really made sure everyone was taken care of and happy. She even helped get everyone in line for the ceremony and adjusted my train for me before I walked down the aisle. There was so much love felt in that little house that it made picking it so absolutely perfect and the best decision we made. I have no regrets about choosing it and will really miss it! If you want a different kind of venue for your wedding please check out Colonial Dames, it's probably exactly what you're looking for!

We selected Colonial Dames for our September 2015 wedding after seeing numerous photos of the venue on various wedding blog sites. We completely fell in love with the venue after having our first visit -- the building and outdoor spaces are truly gorgeous and we knew it'd be the perfect setting for our 108 person garden wedding. Adriana was a pleasure to work with and very helpful throughout the planning process. She is best to reach by telephone instead of email, but it very flexible with any questions you may have. The venue is also byob which really helped to save on alcohol costs. This is truly a gem in Center City Philadelphia!

Throwing a wedding in center city is expensive. But at the Colonial Dames, you get more than your money's worth! The garden, drawing room, and ballroom are beautiful, and it was so nice to have a separate bridal suite to retreat to for makeup freshening and bathroom trips :) Our guests were blown away at how beautiful the venue was, and Adrianna was very easy to work with, allowing us to drop off our supplies the day before.
