My fiance and I looked at a few different venues for our elopement. We wanted to be within a few hours drive of our home, a pretty venue and a reasonable cost. It just so happened that Mercersburg Inn was the cheapest cost but also the one whose photos we liked best. Having never been there before it was a risk, but we decided to do it. We drove about 3 hours, I got my hair done at a local salon (Iris Moon is amazing!) and then we got married in the evening. The innkeeper Tomi coordinated the officiant for us. We had a private ceremony, then had drinks, took photos and had an amazing dinner in the dining room. Then we had champagne and cake. The next day we did the Cowans Gap hike. It was quiet and private just like we wanted it. We are very private introverts who didn't want the traditional wedding experience of being on display, spending thousands of dollars and having to stress over every little detail. Tomi was great and it couldn't have been a better experience. The inn is beautiful and the pictures look like we spent a lot more than we didn't. I'm adding the cost of the elopement package to my review, but keep in mind we also paid for our room for 2 nights, dinner and drinks.Mercersburg Inn's reply:

Best Decision
Me and husband wanted a small intimate ceremony with just the two of us but including everything that comes with a big wedding. Tomi listened and provided every request my heart desired. She took care of the flowers, dinner, cake, and provided a list of photographers. (Shutter Every Moment) Our day was perfect and I would do the same all over again! :)Mercersburg Inn's reply:

Our wedding with a few friends and family was everything we wanted it to be. Tomi was very accommodating to give us choices of anything we wanted & very helpful with any questions we had. We couldn't of asked for a better location. It was everything we imagined. Most of our guests stayed in the mansion & we stayed in the carriage house. All the rooms were amazing! Dinner/cake/drinks/atmosphere/breakfast all was great!Mercersburg Inn's reply:

Elopement package
My husband and I got married here on 10/3/22. The Inn was beautiful and very accommodating! We did the elopement package and everything was PERFECT!! Tomi and her staff did an AMAZING job!!Mercersburg Inn's reply:

Lora and I had our wedding at the Mercersburg Inn on September 24, 2022. We rented out the entire property for the reception and hotel rooms for our guests to stay overnight.
From the planning stages to the coordination and execution of the reception on the day of the wedding, Tomi, Steve, Darla and the entire staff were amazing and easy to work with. The food was absolutely delicious, the rooms were impeccably clean and beautiful, and the service was outstanding. Every one of our guests had an exciting and wonderful experience.
Thank you to everyone at Mercersburg for making our wedding the memorable and special. We’ll definitely be referring all of our friends and coming back often.Mercersburg Inn's reply:

Historic class
Our wedding was simple but elegant with little effort. The Innkeeper (Tomi) was super helpful and kept everything organized. The hotel offered such beauty on its own, we hardly had to decorate. The food was delicious and bar service was prompt. We loved that family had a place to stay as well. Loved this place! We had beautiful scenery for all our photos! Big Plus!Mercersburg Inn's reply:

When my husband and I had to postpone our original wedding plans for this August, we still wanted the day to feel special even on a much smaller scale. I have known about The Mercersburg Inn for five years since I began working at the Academy across the street, so I began to research and fell in love with their intimate wedding options. We had our ceremony at The Academy, but moved to The Inn for dinner. (Honestly, the Inn is so gorgeous, I was ready to relocate the ceremony in case of rain...so beautiful!) My parents and sister who live out of town stayed at The Inn and the rooms were beautiful. My sisters also reserved a room for my husband and I for the wedding night, and that gave me an idyllic place to get ready. We even had tea service brought to the room while we were getting ready. For the reception/ dinner, we were able to reserve the West Porch for our party of 15 people (all family) and decorate with centerpieces I brought in the day before. The food was superb too! Both my husband I am marveled at how celebratory the whole evening felt and part of that was the scenery and environment of The Inn. Tomi was incredibly attentive to my many questions and personalizations over the two months we worked together. If I had an idea, she helped me figure out how to make it happen, and she was even incredibly flexible and understanding with last minute requests. (i.e. We had a last minute change of plans and decided the day before that we wanted to reserve space for breakfast the day after for my family. Tomi and Darla made it happen). Three weeks beforehand, Tomi told me that another couple asked about having their small wedding at The Inn on the same day. the idea of another family/social group in the space made me nervous, but Tomi ensured that the two parties were kept separate from one another and all health guidelines were followed. We didn't even realize the other couple was there until we saw them checking out the next day. The Mercersburg Inn is truly an ideal place to host a wedding. We had a microwedding due to COVID, but I could easily envision a larger wedding on the grounds as well. The whole feeling of the day was perfect. The setting and service really helped to set the stage for such a special day. thank you to Tomi and her team! Beautiful, Intimate Wedding Venue
We had a wonderful experience for our small wedding at the Mercersburg Inn. Tomi was very responsive with my many questions and her and Darla made our day extra special. The venue is gorgeous and their food is delicious. We loved our special day at the Mercersburg Inn and can't wait to return for our Anniversary!!

An amazing way to plan a beautiful, stress-free wedding for a small group! As a working professional, I had no time to plan a wedding and Mercersburg Inn made it easy! We only had to invite our guests, bring our apparel, rings and make a few decisions about the reception. Mercersburg Inn took care of everything else! The Mercersburg Inn was the perfect wedding venue! We rented out the entire Inn for the evening of the ceremony for guests to stay with us and celebrate, and also rented half of the Inn for the night before the ceremony for out of town guests. We had the best time of our lives! Tomi was so organized, responsive, and professional, and I knew every detail was being carefully watched over by her. Darla made us all feel like family, and the rest of the staff couldn’t have been any more lovely. I wish we could get married again, just to do it all over. June Wedding
The inn was absolutely perfect for my “small” wedding. Both of our families stayed there for the weekend on top of us renting it out for the wedding reception. Darla, event planner, was always very responsive to my emails through the planning process. Tomi, one of the owners, is such a kind and joyful person. Very hands on! She was always very attentive to our needs and service. On top of this, the food was fantastic! I do not know the name of the chef, but he did an excellent job! There were three different options I gave my guests for plates, and they were each delicious! Thank you Mercersburg Inn! Held our wedding ceremony and reception here! Beautiful location, grounds, and decor. We planned our ceremony there using the elopement package and built onto it—30ish guests, ceremony, dinner, cocktail hour and reception. Food was delish!!!
While the location itself is stunning, if you are looking for a highly orchestrated event, this is not the place for you. The wait staff was understaffed— one bartender and two servers for a four course meal and open bar. Bar quantity ran out early because the bar was not stocked with well. The event staff were provided a timeline ahead of time but one female staffer in particular kept asking my guests when we’d be done with pictures.
The innkeepers mean well but generally speaking they are hotel managers, not event coordinators. AC wasn’t turned on. Handy-man fixing items in the grooms room while getting ready. A few doors were jammed shut. Innkeepers wanting to keep items in the ceremony location (computers, printers, desk chair etc).
The food was good but ran late. Event cards were incorrect (misspellings etc).
A bit of a shame because this place would really do well for itself if in the right hands. The event well off well because bride and maid of honor are corporate event planners— but without a planner on hand, be prepared to do it yourself!Mercersburg Inn's reply:
