The best!

McCardell Photography is the BEST! Jonathan was great to work with for our wedding from start to finish! He was communicative during the planning stages of our wedding, planned out every detail for photography and executed it flawlessly, helped us maintain our timeline on wedding day, and worked efficiently. He is organized and knows how and where to capture the best shots, helped us pose, and he was so much fun to work with. Our photos are absolutely stunning! His work is high quality and the work of a true artist. The photos are not over edited or over filtered; they are very classic photos that will continue to look beautiful in the years to come. If we were to get married again, we would definitely choose McCardell Photography again and again.

Loved working with Jonathan!

Jonathan was so great to work with! He was recommended by our wedding venue and we hired him to do our engagement photos as well. He's a very chill photographer but was also super efficient getting all our bridal party and family photos - both qualities that are a must for a wedding day! It was rainy on our wedding day, but he improvised and made all the photos look amazing and we even got an awesome shot in the rain after sunset! We would definitely work with him again and highly recommend to anyone!

Excellent experience with the McCardell team!

Where do I begin with my praises for Jonathan and Renee?! From our first interaction with them, my husband and I knew that we wanted them to join us on our special day! They are extremely friendly and professional to work with. The photographs look AMAZING! Jonathan captured all of the special moments with such perfection that I feel like I am reliving each moment as I browse through them. HIGHLY recommend them for all your events!

Wonderful experience with McCardell Photography

McCardell Photography was a great choice for our wedding photography! We are very happy with our pictures and are so glad we chose them to capture our special day. We originally were scheduled to get married in May 2020, but had to postpone twice due to COVID. They were so gracious and understanding throughout the whole process, making it as stress-free as possible for us during such a stressful year. We would (and will!) enthusiastically recommend their services to anyone looking for a photographer in the Greensboro area and beyond.

Beautiful photography

My husband and I originally hired Jonathan to photograph our wedding on 10/10/20, then COVID hit. Jonathan was extremely understanding and willing to work with us to not only reschedule for next year, but also to add on a date for this year and photograph our intimate ceremony on 9/27. Jonathan arrived early, scoped the venue out and chose perfect spots for our pictures. The fact that Jonathan was shooting alone and still managed to capture my husbands face as I walked down the aisle and my reaction to him standing at the end of the aisle is incredible. He captured every significant moment flawlessly. The pictures came out absolutely beautiful and we could not be more pleased!! Jonathan has such a fun personality and really makes everyone feel so comfortable. I would highly recommend the McCardell's and we cannot wait for our pictures for next year's celebration!

Fun Farm Wedding

Jonathan and Renee were an absolute photography dream team for my May 27th wedding! They have such a creative way of capturing the perfect lighting and angles in every picture. My bridal party and family commented that the McCardell's are personable, professional and fun to be around! I got my pictures back within two weeks of my wedding and I love every single memory that was captured! Every time I contacted the McCardell's during the planning process, they responded very promptly and made me feel that I had hired the best photographers around. The McCardell's make you feel like you are family. I was honored that they were such a big part of the happiest day of my life!

I loved working with the McCardells for my wedding! I was familiar with their wonderful photography for several years prior having seen it in many settings including at some of my friends' weddings, but they were also such a pleasure to work with. They are very knowledgeable and explain the entire process so you don't have any questions. The day of the wedding was so much fun and the design of the wedding album has been a breeze. I would definitely recommend them to everyone!

Look no further than the dynamic duo at McCardell photography. Ultimately you hope for the best and photos are so important to capture the moments of your wedding day, and there's no reason to not trust Jonathan and Renee to perform. They're prompt, responsive, creative, and flexible. We had a very unique cadence to our reception, and they captured all of it beautifully. We also had them come for our welcome dinner and "Sunday Funday" and those pictures are spectacular as well. Look no further.

Wow what a great photographer!! Looking through a handful of 5 star photographers in the triad it wasn't hard to justify choosing McCardell... I think every photographer has their own "style" and McCardell photography is unique. I got the pleasure of working with Johnathan (although his wife also does photography) what a great eye!!! He will look up at the sun and the clouds and just know when and where he can get the best shots. He doesn't waste a second with a picture that he knows will be no good. That's the value that he brings... I did a bridal shoot and a wedding album and upon choosing pictures for both Johnathan pretty much had them layed out the way I would of done it with the very best pictures... needless to say there wasn't very much editing on our part. He goes to work and he doesn't play around. The day of our wedding we got several comments of how hard the photographer was working. It was pretty hot and we were all sticky and Johnathan was practically dripping wet and he seemed to enjoying every minute of it. Everywhere I turned he was right there, never missed a beat and out of all 700 something photos that we ended up with in the end it was very hard to even say that we would of tossed ONE photo. I mean they were ALL so incredibly good. Granted, we got married at the Graylyn Estate so we already had a BEAUTIFUL background but I would say the most impressive skill Johnathan had was utilizing every spare minute to make sure we got alll the family photos etc that we wanted. And I like that he doesn't make you do these crazy poses that make you look so unatural. His techniques are SUPERB and we knew we had the BEST from the beginning and I was shocked at how quickly he got everything back to us! McCardell photography = Proffesionalism in EVERY aspect.

Jonathan and Renee were so great to work with! They photographed our wedding in April 2016 and every part of the process was amazing. We absolutely loved having Jonathan with McCardell Photography shoot both our engagement photos as well as our entire wedding and reception. As our reception was scheduled to be celebrated in a converted barn, we knew we needed someone very experienced with lighting and various camera angles to capture the essence of the environment. We found an experienced, hands on photographer who delivered for every shot! My husband and I knew that gorgeous pictures were of the utmost importance to our wedding experience so we could revel in the big day for years to come. Not only did Jonathan deliver beautiful pictures, but he was able to capture the moment by showing our guests' true personalities while using his uncanny, vision for each shot. We loved having Jonathan McCardell as our wedding photographer. The McCardells have a beautiful aesthetic to their photos and can capture candid moments that still look like a piece of art. They captured all the perfect moments and details, and provided good direction for us so we knew what to do and how to pose (and even how to cut our cake!) We highly recommend the McCardells - and we even hired them to capture our Rehearsal Dinner, which was equally awesome.

My husband and I had our wedding at Childress Vineyard. Since we were fairly new to NC I had to do my fair share of research. In between Vineyard's recommended vendors list and my own research, my husband and I decided that we were most impressed with Jonathan and Renee's portfolio. We met with Jonathan and could tell right away that he is definitely knowledgeable and knew "what he was doing". He shared some ideas with us since he had been to Childress quite a few times. He showed us some photos of his recent weddings and we decided right away that Jonathan would be perfect person for capturing our beautiful day.
He was very responsive of myself and the wedding planner. On the day of, he made sure that he captured every moment possible. Also since our wedding was outdoor, he definitely maximized beautiful scenery of the vineyard.
After our photos were done, we met with him to finalize our photo album. Boy boy boy. was it hard to pick out only certain number of photos. lol. Seriously every photo he captured was breath taking. I got emotional again just looking through those photos. Wedding photos and album was done in a timely manner. I would definitely recommend Jonathan and Renee for any future brides.

My husband and I are so glad we chose the McCardells to photograph our wedding day. The images turned out absolutely perfectly and we are so proud to share our photos with friends and family. Renee and her assistant were able to capture every detail and special moment of our day. The McCardells are true professionals and they were extremely easy to work with before, during, and after the wedding. We received our edited photos within a month after our wedding and the duo remained responsive to our questions/concerns throughout the entire wedding planning process. I highly recommend using two shooters if you have a large venue and not a huge amount of time. We are 110% satisfied with our entire experience and with the quality of services performed by McCardell Photography. We whole heartedly recommend them to prospective clients.

I hired McCardell Photography for my wedding day and they were amazing! We decided to take some photos before the wedding, including "first look" photos. Renee scoped out a gorgeous location for the photos. She was extremely organized and was able to optimize our limited time before the wedding ceremony. We had 3 young kids in our ceremony and Renee knew just what to do to get them all smiling. The photos turned out great! She got some great photos from the reception. It seemed like she was everywhere!

The photos we ended up with are high quality and I love looking at them to relive the day. I highly recommend McCardell Photography. Great personalities, great photography. I am very happy with my choice.

The McCardell's were awesome to work with! They were always super easy to get in touch with and scheduling everything was a breeze. Jon did my bridal shoot as well and was very flexible with the last minute weather challenges of snow in the South. On the day of my wedding John and Renee arrived promptly and went straight to work. They captured all the things I wanted them to and the pictures came out beautiful! The packaging I had included a full Disc of the images. I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a great professional team of people with wonderful pictures! I will use them again in the future for my other photography needs!

The McCardells were awesome from the time we made the initial phone call until the very end of us receiving our finished products. Jonathan was so wonderful and easy to work with. When we were deciding on a wedding photographer, we immediately felt comfortable with Jonathan as we could tell by his ability to seamlessly answer all of our questions that he was both experienced and knowledgeable. He worked with us to make sure we got what we wanted out of our photos prior to the wedding. The day of, he was funny and made the whole experience stress free. He was easily able to accommodate what we wanted for our photos, despite the rain. He was able to put me at ease with his humor. Jonathan was able to capture every important moment of the night with very little direction from us, demonstrating how skilled he truly is. We were so pleased with how our pictures turned out and everyone who has looked at them has been in awe of how professional, beautiful, and creative they are. He even sent us a Christmas ornament with one of our favorite pictures, which was such a sweet and thoughtful personal touch. Jonathan and Renee were absolutely wonderful to work with! They always responded quickly to emails and were willing to meet with us in the evenings after work since we lived an hour and a half away. Renee shot our wedding and she was fabulous with our 2 young flower girls. I received all of our pictures back quickly and I couldn't be happier. The book they created is better than I could imagine and I'm so thrilled that we picked a package that included an album.

I found the McCardells through Wedding Wire and ended up booking them after 2 in-person interviews. I was very meticulous in what I wanted in a photographer, and after browsing dozens of websites, their work continually stood out to me as the best. I was SO happy with my choice. We got to work with Jonathan for both my bridal portraits and our wedding day, and he is amazing. So professional, really sets you at ease and KNOWS what he is doing. Side note - on my portrait day, we were more than 30 minutes late due to a hair and makeup snag - Jonathan did not miss a beat. He was just as kind, considerate and upbeat as if nothing had happened. Wonderful guy and an extremely talented photographer - we love our photos!!!

They had worked with our venue dozens of times, so I felt very comfortable that they would ensure we had the best shots. They responded very quickly to any emails or questions I had, and they were very upbeat and professional on our wedding day. The finished product was so impressive. It was hard to pick which pictures we wanted for our book since they were all so pretty, and Jonathan patiently sat with us for over two hours while we picked our pictures - I can't thank them enough for so beautifully capturing our special day.

Jonathan and Renee are great to work with. They are prompt when responding to emails, willing to meet when it's convenient for you, and custom tailor to your needs. They shot our engagement session and wedding day. The photos are fantastic! We absolutely loved all of our pictures and they even added some unique touches specific to us. While we got everything we wanted, this does come at a premium. On top of the initial expenses, the additional charges for photo books and printing are pricey. As the saying goes, "You get what you pay for" therefore we got the best! We are very happy with the end result. We have some amazing photos to remember our special day.

The quality and creativity of the McCardell's work is absolutely incredible! My husband and I cannot say enough about McCardell Photography. Hiring a good photographer was a priority for us, and Jonathan and Renee McCardell exceeded all of our expectations. We had the chance to work with both as Jonathan shot our engagement photos, and Renee shot our wedding. Both are professional, fun, and personable. I felt so at ease from the first "click" of the camera. Most importantly, the McCardells were able to capture the emotions of that day in a way which defies categorization. We opted not to have a videographer, and that was something we initially regreted. However, after seeing the photos captured of our day, we realized we didn't even need it. The progression of the photographs told the stories, and showed the emotions, of that day in a more profound way than any video could. We love the McCardell's and HIGHLY recommend them. We'll be using them again in the future!!

Jonathan and Renee were everything and more that we hoped for in photographers. They were friendly and easy to work with. Everyone at our wedding loved them. They took all of the pictures that we wanted without us having to ask and also captured all of the details that we loved about our wedding. Most importantly, we could not have been more pleased when we received our digital images from them. They are all stunning. McCardell photography was a bit pricier than other photographers we considered, but this is one category where we wanted the best, and I believe that we got it.

John and Rene worked with us to customize a "package" that worked with our needs (second wedding) and budget. John's artistic eye was evident in the proofs. He captured the emotion of the event, and his work now hangs in framed prints down the length of the hallway in our new home. My husband and I decided to get married when we found out we would be welcoming our daughter into the world- unfortunately that left us with 3 months to wedding plan! Luckily for us Jonathan and Renee had an open date for the day we wanted to get married. Renee had a wedding that day so we worked with Jonathan for the majority of our experience- we did our engagement photos in downtown Greensboro and he did a wonderful job of getting us to relax and laugh- my family and friends raved over he was able to really capture "us" in the photos. The day of the wedding was a complete fiasco- the weather had been sunny with a high of 75 until the day leading up to the rehearsal dinner when a tropical storm decided to make its way through the coast. The day of the wedding was drizzling and in the 50s- my wedding was an outside wedding but Jonathan and his assistant photographer were great at working with the weather. We worked around it to get the shots we needed. My father had surprise fireworks at the wedding which made for amazing photos and Jonathan never miss an opportunity for a photograph but he was never obtuse- you can tell he is a true professional. When I received my final wedding images I was completely amazed that Renee and Jonathan had captured and edited the photos so that someone looking at the photos would have never known how miserable the weather was- just what an amazing time it was with friends and family. I recommend them as wedding photographers to anyone looking for quality photos and a reliable professional friendly photographer!

Our wedding photos were a top priority to me so selecting the perfect photographers for our wedding day was a big deal. My husband and I spent a tremendous amount of time researching photographer options all over within a two hour radius of our wedding location and in several states. We scrutinized McCardell's blog and website and sent them long lists of questions. They were friendly yet professional every step along the way. We loved that their photos captured moments and not just staged them. It takes a special eye for that. We have gotten countless compliments about the photos and it has been nearly impossible to narrow down to our top favorites because there are so many we love! The day of the wedding Jonathan and Renee made us feel completely at ease and captured all the shots we wanted. It was an extra bonus to have a husband and wife team. Amazing photographers. I was lucky enough to have both Jonathan and Renee taking pictures on my wedding day and they capture some of the best pictures that you may never even think of having them take. This husband and wife team is such a pleasure to work with. They create a relaxed atmosphere and fit so well with your family and friends you forget youre being followed by photographers. Their professionalism and creative talents wowed us and all of our guests. Our day was an important part of our lives but it was over in a blink of an eye. They have provided us with beautiful memories that will last a lifetime.

My advice to those brides looking for a photographer is to hire them as soon as possible and invest in their best package. If I would change anything it would be to have them there for the pre-wedding festivities. You will spend lots of money on your wedding but the photos from McCardell Photography are priceless!

Of all the vendors that we worked with for our wedding, McCardell photography was our absolute favorite. First and foremost, they take AMAZING pictures. That is obviously the most important thing. But they're also just an extremely fun couple to work with. We got along so well with them, which is important because you end up spending a lot of time with them (we also did an engagement shoot). They had lots of great ideas and options, both for photos and for the ensuing products. They turned our engagement shoot pictures into a photo guestbook which is now one of our most treasured possessions. They're easy to get a hold of and extremely professional. In all of the stress leading up to the wedding, my wife and I would often say "Well, no matter what happens, at least we know the pictures will be amazing."
They are definitely on the expensive end of the spectrum, and will probably be outside of certain people's budgets, but you definitely get what you pay for and more.

I love Jonathan and his wife! The pictures were more amazing than I could ever imagine! He really brought out the best in me and my husband that day. Renee & Jonathan are simply amazing. Not only does their work speak for itself (2+ yrs later, we still get compliments on such beautiful, professional photos) -- but how friendly, relaxed & reassuring they both naturally seem made our big day nearly stress-free! Embarrassingly, I have almost no photos of myself in my 20's; I just hated how I looked in pics. So I can't express what these photos mean to me -- it's as if they "made me look beautiful", like they worked some sort of magic, yet these photos definitely look like me. I'm a hobby photographer, and to me their work is truly amazing. The only reason I didn't give a perfect 5/5? We didn't have much $$ to spend (paid for the wedding ourselves), but knew we need to pay extra for quality photography. You just can't hire the cheapest photogs & expect to get THIS quality. Truthfully, they probably could charge even more, they're THAT good.

Renee (and 2nd shooter Arianna) were wonderful to work with!! Renee was accommodating to our venue and what we wanted out of a photographer. The pictures are beautiful and fun - capturing our spirit!

Jonathan and Renee are fantastic photographers. They are extremely professional and are able to capture your wedding day and any other engagement or bridal sessions with extraordinary results. If photography is a high priority for your wedding, they are worth the price. Highly recommended.

McCardell photography was recommended to me by several friends. It was well worth the recommendations. Jonathan was a lot of fun to work with and takes amazing pictures! A bit pricey but well worth the money to have fantastic pictures that I can always remember by wedding day by!

We did engagement photos and wedding photos with this vendor. Renee and Jonathan are fun people who are easy to be around. Renee and an assistant, Becki, did our wedding, and the photos were wonderful and very creative! We booked one of the more expensive packages, but they have several different levels if you don't want to spend as much.

Renee is a pleasure to work with, especially for someone who is as camera shy as myself. She is an absolute sweetheart and I loved how she integrated herself into our wedding reception while shooting it (i.e. dancing while photographing.) We have received so many compliments not only on our photos, but also her presence at our wedding. I have had friends ask about hiring McCardell Photography in the future and my husband and I know that we will be hiring them for another shoot in the not too distant future as well. We are certainly satisfied customers and we can't thank them enough for their service.

I love our wedding pictures. Even if we didn't have a sunny wedding day the photography is of top quality. The posed/candid shots show a lot of experience and captured us beautifully. I would recommend McCardell to everybody.
