Wonderful and amazing
Mark was amazing! He took both our engagement photos and wedding photos. We wanted to take our engagement photos in Yosemite. He knew the best places and times to take photos. During our wedding, he captured all of the special moments. He is very personable and talented. We highly recommend him! -

I cannot begin to explain how lucky we feel that we found Mark Janzen Photography while searching for our wedding photographer. Mark is so talented, chill to work with, funny, kind and knowledgeable with all things Yosemite National Park. Mark shot both our engagement photos and wedding day and the memories he captured are works of art that truly capture the moments. Beyond the obvious talent you can see in his photographs, Mark has a way with making you feel comfortable in front of the camera, even if you’re not used to being the center of attention. He is great with framing photos and grouping people together in such a beautiful way – and while doing so making fun small talk and joking around like he has been your friend for years! Beyond photography, Mark was able to help guide us in seemingly small but impactful ways for shaping our wedding. He gave us advice on how to get our Yosemite National Park Marriage Permit, possible logistic obstacles, a full day itinerary example that we ended up tweaking to use for our entire wedding day, parking hacks in the park and most importantly for a girl in a wedding dress: where the best bathrooms were located. My entire wedding party could not stop raving about how much they loved Mark and many kept saying he was the best photographer they had ever worked with. In addition, Mark was testing out some videography at the same time as shooting our wedding and you wouldn’t have even known he was working double time getting both done – he captured every moment we wanted and more! We could not have asked for a better photographer and would highly recommend Mark to everyone. -

We are extremely happy with the way Mark captured the magic of our wedding at Tenaya Lodge near Yosemite. Mark basically became part of our family for a day. He's so personable and friendly and everyone was comfortable and relaxed around him. He knows the area well and included lots of natural beauty in our photos. His camera work is excellent (lenses, lighting, angles etc) but what really makes his photographs so special is his ability to bring out the natural best in everyone and simultaneously capture the spirit of the moment. Whether it's a romantic kiss or a guest's wild dance moves, Mark's always in the right place at the right time. And he's so easy to work with, highly recommended. -

Fantastic Experience
Mark was the perfect photographer for our Yosemite wedding, from the informative zoom chats in advance of our special day to his helpful and enjoyable presence on the day and lastly the stunning photos that he provided to enjoy and preserve the moment forever. Stunning photos and he saved our day!
We would not have had our wedding without Mark. Not only did he take amazing photos, he helped us find a new location just days before our wedding was due to take place! Mark was very communicative and understood our vision for our wedding. He was able to find us a site in Kings Canyon National Park that was even better than our original plan! Mark walked the entire Zumwalt Meadow loop with us taking pictures along that way that we will cherish for our lifetime! We can't even begin to thank Mark enough, for helping us navigate a last minute change to capturing our perfect day so brilliantly. -

Mark photographed our May 2021 wedding! Planning and having a wedding during the Covid era brought a lot of uncertainties, but Mark was our one constant. We first met Mark in early March of 2020 over Zoom, when we had already booked the Ahwahnee hotel as our venue, along with our DJ, and a string quartet. My husband and I hate being the center of attention, which is why we hoped Yosemite would be a perfect location to share the spotlight with the picturesque scenery. We told Mark of our hesitancies and he walked us through his entire process, making us feel more at ease. He is extremely down to earth and made us feel comfortable instantaneously, and of course, he has such amazing photos on his website. Mark was extremely patient with us as we planned for an entirely different wedding, including the location. Once we decided to elope in Yosemite, he gave us a handful of the best locations within the park and offered a million different helpful hints for planning an elopement (wedding shoes, parking). We had our private ceremony in front of the gorgeous granite walls and Yosemite Falls, which made for some sensational photos. Our crazy, barky, 2 year old pup was one of our guests, who does not get along with strangers, and Mark could not have been more understanding of our dog’s unique personality. As we traipsed throughout different parts of Yosemite, Mark knew exactly where to go for photos- his hiding spots, along with his photography skills, will capture your special day perfectly. As an added bonus, he sent us some candid shots that my husband and I absolutely love; it’s not only the picture perfect shots that make the day special, but also those hilarious and unplanned tid bits that add to the wedding day. We have several of our photos hanging in our dining room and everyone will comment on how stunning our wedding photos are. We could not have asked for a better photographer and would recommend Mark to anyone looking for a large or small wedding. Thank you, Mark, for helping to make our wedding not only a memorable day, but making the entire wedding process easy! -

Absolutely Fantastic Experience
This review is a long time coming, but don't mistake my tardiness for lack of appreciation for everything Mark did as our wedding photographer. He was fantastic throughout the two year planning process and I couldn't be happier with the outcome!
My husband and I got married in the Oakhurst area in the Summer of 2020. We booked with Mark early on and benefitted greatly from his local knowledge of the area. When our entire wedding plans changed due to the pandemic, Mark rolled with the punches and helped us figure out spots for a more intimate wedding ceremony and hike that wound up fitting us perfectly. He was communicative, did his research and was honest with us when the original package we signed up for no longer fit our needs with the downsized wedding.
Neither my husband and I are very comfortable in front of the camera, but Mark helped us with his easy nature and wit. In the end, both our engagement session and our wedding day felt like we were spending time with an old friend.
The photos are absolutely breath-taking! Mark is so talented and I love how he captured the emotions in the moment. They are more than just portraits and bring us back to the love and magic of the moments when they were taken.
Finally, one of Mark's other ventures- the El Cap Coffee company- made for perfect wedding favors for our few guests- I highly recommend if you are a coffee fan! -

Mark was our magical photographer for an outdoor wedding outside the Ahwahnee Hotel in Yosemite. We are so thrilled that we found him! His easygoing, fun demeanor and insider’s knowledge of all the best (and easily accessible / less crowded) spots in the valley for beautiful pictures was exactly what we needed! On a day when you’re under a lot of pressure – a destination wedding with guests scattered across hotels and campsites, unpredictable weather, time constraints, and in our case, an 8 month old daughter in tow – you really want someone professional, reliable, and fun like Mark. Because he was at ease, WE were at ease, and it shows in the photos. It rained the morning of our wedding, which initially sent me panicking…but Mark reassured us that the rain would pass and that he could use the moody light to our advantage, and he was right! We all waited in his truck as Mark took us around the valley, chatting and reading the sky, and capitalizing on sunny bits between cloudbursts. We got some really beautiful and dramatic shots from that morning (and the rain stopped just in time for the wedding!). From playful shots of us with a park ranger to jaw-dropping stunners with backdrops of sweeping Yosemite granite, rich redwoods, and lacy dogwood flowers, Mark captured it all. He covered our preparation, first look, ceremony, and reception in the Ahwahnee. He easily coaxed sweet smiles from our shy daughter (we have a great selfie of Mark with her purple Violet the Dog on his shoulder, which made her look at the camera and laugh). We cannot recommend him highly enough. Get yourself some peace of mind – book Mark for your Yosemite wedding! Your special day will be in great hands. -

Mark is a great guy. He took our engagement photos and our wedding photos. My got a long with (and put up with) my husband who hates getting pictures taken. He is a one-man job but he gets the work done. I am in love with all of the pictures from the engagement session and our wedding day. We were scared that it might be cloudy and raining for our engagement session. There was no rain, but Mark used the clouds to our advantage for some awesome shots. He also captured a lot of detail from the reception. Attached are some of my favorite pictures Mark took. -

He has a journalistic style and is careful not to miss a single moment! He also makes the family photos a painless process after the ceremony! Mark was kind enough to travel with us for both our wedding and engagement shoot and he is a lot of fun to work with. His wife, Leslie, is a pleasure to work with throughout the planning process and we were lucky enough to have her at our wedding to assist him. Mark's work speaks for itself, but the photos are absolutely beautiful and we would highly recommend him for a wedding photographer. Thanks, Mark!!
