My guests raved about how good the cake was! I'm not surprised, as after the tasting we had during the wedding planning, I knew their cakes were not just all looks, but seriously delicious. Had a hard time narrowing down the flavors to 3, as everything I tried was just so good. With a portfolio like Maggie's, I was expecting somebody snobby. I was very impressed with how humble and modest she was when I met her during the tasting. I communicated with Jessica a lot on the pricing, delivery, etc. and she was super nice and accommodating. I'm pretty lucky to have had them make my cake at my wedding (I understand that Maggie Austin's pricing has changed quite a bit since then)!

My cake was not only beautiful but tasted amazing! It was unique and classic all at the same time. Highly recommend. Her design was beautiful and exactly what I wanted.

Have you seen Maggie Austin's cakes? With work like that, does she really need this recommendation? Seriously, our cake was a piece of art. We designed our whole reception room around our Maggie Austin cake as the centerpiece. Besides it being a piece of art, it was delicious!! We had a hard time narrowing the choices down to 3 flavors...they were all so good! And our guests haven't stopped talking about how delicious the cake was!

Ok, at the risk of sounding redundant, Maggie, her sister Jess, and their interns are all just amazing superstars. In my opinion if you are going to have one splurge category, (and its not the flowers), let it be Maggie Austin's cake! Yes, from her portfolio you can see what a substantial artist she is, it is Haute Couture in it's sweetest form yet. But that is not even the best part, the best part, is the delight that your guests experience when privileged enough to have a slice. And what an ice breaker, the cake truly does taste so good that your guests can't help but want talk and share that at that moment they are having the best wedding cake, maybe even just the best cake period, of their lives! No exaggeration I promise. The cake Maggie presented for our wedding made everyone happy and silly for more cake!

Maggie is an amazing artist. Frankly, I am shocked at the negative review of her - my experience with her was essentially perfect. It started with a tasting at her beautiful bakery/studio (she's an artist, trust me), where we enjoyed delicious cake and Maggie's company (she's really lovely). We talked to her about our concerns with a fondant covered cake (we do not like the taste of fondant), and she skillfully argued her case (fondant done right protects the delicious buttercream, looks great, and actually tastes delicious). She impressed us by noting that she wouldn't let us freeze our top tier (cake, she rightly pointed out, is meant to be eaten fresh), but would actually bake us a small tier of the cake we chose for our one-year anniversary. She made suggestions about structure and shape to help us achieve what we wanted, but always keeping in mind our ultimate goal: a "statement" cake that would catch people's attention but still look like a gorgeous, appropriate wedding cake. We took her advice on both the use of fondant and the design for our cake, and are very grateful we did - she gave us a square, four-tiered, flower-covered, ombre beauty that was a key point in our decor. It not only looked amazing, but the piece we ate straight off the cake was fantastic. We had pear cake with white chocolate buttercream and a raspberry filling, and it was just as orgasmic as it sounds. We also had chocolate cake with peanut butter buttercream, but unfortunately in all the rush didn't get a chance to try it, so Maggie offered to bake us a sample next year, when she makes us our first anniversary tier!

I can't end this review without noting that Maggie's sister, Jess, who handles the business side of things, was also incredibly easy to work with. They made designing, ordering, and eating our cake as pleasurable as it should be. Thank you all so, so much!

Maggie was very professional when we first started this whole process. She was always responsive and super pleasant to deal with. Her portfolio is very beautiful, so I had her come for a taste-testing at the house. Her cakes were amazing. She was also the only cake designer willing to attempt a cake we really wanted. While the price she quoted us was high, we were too impressed with her to say no. However, about two months before the wedding, she emailed saying that she cannot make the cake we want anymore, because the mold maker backed out. While that was upsetting, we compromised and came up with a new design and a lower price point. I must say here that the cake was one the MOST important parts of the wedding to me, because I LOVE cake...and our cake was the most disappointing part of the wedding. It looked beautiful, but did not taste as it should have. We said, "no thick fondant or too much filling" and that is exactly what we got, thick fondant, lots of butter cream and stale-tasting cake. This did not at all taste anything like the cakes we ate at the tasting. Most of the guests did not want to eat the chocolate pieces. It was the most disappointing cake. But what was more disappointing is that I did not hear from Maggie. She did not contact me before the even, and she never got in touch with me after, to find out if I was happy or how everything went. It just seemed to me that she didn't creative the original cake, and gave up on the "remodeled" one. I did not feel like a priority...and for a $2000 cake, I at least should have earned an email from the cake maker post-wedding.
