Awesome Wedding Vows Renewal!
We wanted to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary with an intimate but elegant service with a small group of our closest friends and family. That was what we told Ruthann and the staff at Kiln Creek Golf Resort, and they responded! From the very beginning, they knew that budget was very important. Honestly, it wasn’t huge! Yet, she didn’t shy away but continued to assure me that they would be able to deliver something beautiful and memorable. They were responsive when I called with questions and ideas, and their flexibility was also appreciated to meet our unique needs. Our guests who both attended and stayed at the Lodge commented on the professionalism of the staff, the cleanliness and ambiance of the rooms, and the comfy beds! At every turn, everyone was seemed to be doing their best to be as accommodating as possible, and in the end, they gave us the experience of a lifetime! -

I can’t say enough wonderful things about my wedding experience! Ruthanne, our incredible wedding coordinator, went above and beyond to make our special day absolutely perfect. Her attention to detail, calm demeanor, and genuine care for every aspect of our wedding made the planning process seamless. She anticipated our needs before we even knew we had them and made sure everything ran smoothly. I felt truly taken care of, allowing me to fully enjoy every moment of the day without any stress.
Priscilla, our bartender, was such a joy to work with! She kept the drinks flowing with a smile and created a fun, lively atmosphere for our guests. Everyone raved about how personable and attentive she was throughout the evening. She added such a warm, welcoming energy to our reception — it wouldn’t have been the same without her! She even made us a signature wedding cocktail on a whim that was delicious!
The venue itself was breathtaking. From the moment we walked in, we knew it was the perfect place to celebrate our love. The natural beauty of the space, paired with the incredible team behind it, made for an unforgettable experience.
Ruthanne, Priscilla, and the entire team made us feel so special — like they truly cared about making my day as magical as possible. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience, and I will forever be grateful for the role they played in creating memories we will cherish for a lifetime! -

Incredible Service!
Our wedding at Kiln Creek was amazing! My husband and I (along with our family and friends) still reel about how beautiful our wedding was. The spaces were so accommodating and well kept. The scenery was beautiful and perfect for our fall wedding! As a bride who was so indecisive, Ruthanne was an incredible voice of reason and made this process so easy. Her professionalism and patience are unrivaled. Our plated dinners were delicious and cooked to order. Rob and I are so grateful to have had her and the staff make our day unforgettable. -

Ballroom is a beautiful venue
This venue was great for my daughter’s wedding as it was a very small wedding and we had the wedding and reception all in the same room. The two girls serving us were very professional and I had several people state this about the girls. Also many people complimented that the food was delicious! -

My partner and I noticed and appreciated, that from the first point of contact through the day of our ceremony, the team at Kiln Creek truly went above and beyond to help us make memories that will last a lifetime. They answered all of our questions and made us feel special - even though they had at least 10+ weddings that month. Working with Ruthanne was a delight. She provided guidance to us and helped make the planning process very smooth. I cannot say enough good things about this place. Ruthanne, Nikki and team did a great job with our wedding weekend! Ruthanne was very responsive and thoughtful. Leading up to the wedding, she was very collaborative and offered great suggestions. She also helped us organize our vision and stayed up late setting up our reception area! Nikki came in as our day of coordinator and was also very collaborative. She offered great suggestions and maintained a cool calm and collected demeanor to orchestrate a beautiful day! The hotel, restaurant and event staff were also super helpful, professional, accommodating and kind! Thank you all!! -

We had the most incredible wedding experience at Kiln Creek Golf Course & Resort, and it wouldn't have been possible without the exceptional guidance and coordination by Ruthanne. From the moment we stepped foot onto the property, we were captivated by the stunning beauty of the venue.
Ruthanne, our dedicated coordinator, deserves all the praise in the world. Her expertise, professionalism, and genuine care for our vision truly shined throughout the entire planning process. She seamlessly translated our ideas into reality, ensuring that every detail was meticulously taken care of.
The wedding day itself was a dream come true. Ruthanne's impeccable organization and coordination skills ensured that everything ran flawlessly. From the setup of the ceremony to the reception, every moment flowed effortlessly. We still are amazed by the serviced received from Kiln Creek staff. Ruthanne the venue wedding coordinator worked with us for the past 6-7 months to make sure everything was in order. She was very hands on the day of the wedding. She assisted our wedding coordinator in so many ways which made our day perfect. Ruthanne was very professional and genuine. She really expressed her concerns of wanting our wedding to be however we imagine it to be. She meet with us several times throughout the year to discuss weddings details and assisted with creating a timeline. She definitely went above and beyond to assist with our wedding process. Jordan the front desk staff was amazing. He would assist all the guest with their room information whenever they contact the venue. We meet Dee the restaurant supervisor the day before the wedding. She was amazing. She told us she is here to help any way. She assisted with the rehearsal dinner along with staff and they did a great job!! The day after the wedding, Dee provides us with a table at the restaurant when there was an 1hr wait. She stated, this is my bride and groom, please seat them. We received the best hospitality from ALL the staff at Kiln Creek. Ruthann you definitely were amazing and Justin and I would like to thank you for making our Big day more than what we could imagine. -

Thank you to Ruthanne Ferguson for a superb experience! On Friday, July 7th, my husband and I, with our families hosted a romantic evening wedding ceremony and reception. We had the ceremony in the Nest ballroom and reception in the Peninsula room. Both ballrooms were spacious and able to accommodate our party of 125 people. We appreciate all the complimentary decor at our disposal to use. Ruthanne had so many options for us to look at, chantilly chairs, table numbers, and charger plates. Our guests are still gushing over how beautiful both spaces are and how lush the golf course looks!
The staff was so welcoming to our guests! We were truly taken care of by Ruthanne. The months leading up to the event, she was such a pleasure to work with. She worked well with our requirements for food and beverage. Her attention to detail helped us go through their extensive menu to select the right entrees and cocktails to create the perfect menu. Our guests are still raving about the tender beef tenderloin! I highly recommend working with Ruthanne and her staff to host an unforgettable event!

If you are looking for the best place to host your event in Newport News, you found it! I am a professional DJ and I work a few wedding events here every year and already have some lined up for next year. Before this year is over, I wanted to take the time and share with all review readers how grateful I am for the opportunity to be able to collaborate with such a great venue and the talented team that makes magic happen every time I am there. I have to especially shout out Nikky, she is the most valuable asset they have and a true miracle worker with more experience executing weddings and special events than you can imagine. They communicate well with vendors, everything is always clean and looks amazing, and the layout options are awesome. I should mention their food is AMAZING as well. Nikky and the Kiln Creek staff have became like family over the past year. They have hosted several events in regards to our wedding, including my bridal shower, our wedding, and our reception 3 months later. Nikky and her team took care of all the minor details like decorating the venue, coordinating vendors as they arrived, welcoming guests, and calming the nerves of a high strung bride. They are highly responsive, have wonderful ideas, and I know our special day would not have been the same without them. We cannot thank Nikky and her team enough for making our day so magical. I had my wedding at Kiln Creek this past weekend and everything was amazing! Nikky is a literal angel. She was so friendly, nice, and knowledgable. I had tons of questions throughout the process and she was always quick to answer all of them. Kiln Creek itself was a beautiful venue for the wedding. The arch and backdrop for the outdoor ceremony were perfect. The Peninsula Room Ballroom was so stunning and the perfect size for our wedding. Everything was decorated exactly how I was picturing, which was great considering Nikky and her team handled all of the setup, decoration, and clean up. Nikky is also an amazing coordinator! She stuck to our timeline and kept everything running smoothly, we could not have done this wedding without her. The food was delicious, we got so many compliments on the cocktail hour food and the plated dinner. Service was great, the plated dinner came out quickly for everyone. The bartender was excellent! We kept her working hard throughout the night and she kept up just fine! Our signature drinks were great. Kiln Creek also offers tons of decor to use, which is definitely a cost saver. Overall, I have nothing but great things to say. Highly recommend Kiln Creek if you are looking for a beautiful place to have your wedding or event! -

Effortless
It was almost too easy it seemed to plan my wedding with the help of Nikky Jacobson and Kiln creek resort. Anything I needed help with nikky was available to assist. My wedding was beautiful! My reception was beautiful! And I couldn’t thank you all enough. When the virus started to spread they were able to help us reschedule for a perfect date even better than the first. Our wedding turned out so beautiful thanks to this beautiful venue, Nikky and all the staff. I didn’t have a wedding planner but Nikky was great guidance and ran the entire wedding day. When we started looking at venues, we wanted one that included food and drinks so Kiln Creek was high on the list. But Nikky was the deciding factor. She was so responsive, especially as the wedding drew closer and we had more and more details to finalize. We had a smaller wedding but the downstairs ballroom was gorgeous and the staff worked tirelessly to make sure my day was perfect. I highly recommend Kiln Creek. Great staff, beautiful venue and a great value. -

Kiln creek and Nikky were awesome to work with! We were dealing with cancelling our first venue and were in a panic to find our next. Luckily for us, Kiln Creek came to the rescue. Nikky, the planner, was great in coordinating everything and helping us try to figure out how to have a great wedding all while being safe during COVID. In the end, precautions were made and followed and the whole wedding turned out perfect. I would 100% recommend Kiln Creek to anybody looking for a venue! -

Our wedding venue had gone bankrupt and we ended up finding Kiln Creek and within a few hours we set up a meeting with their coordinator, Nikky. The venue going bankrupt was a blessing in disguise because I could not picture my wedding anywhere other than Kiln Creek. Nikky was absolutely AMAZING. She stayed in touch with me consistently, always asking if I needed anything done, she took care of everything for the rehearsal dinner and the day of the wedding, she was incredible. She met with us multiple times just to ease my nerves. She went above and beyond and this day couldn’t have been done without her. Kiln Creek was absolutely beautiful from the hotel room, the ceremony room, the reception room, and the staff was so helpful and accommodating. I cannot recommend Kiln Creek enough, they truly made our day so special. -

We had our wedding ceremony and reception at Kiln Creek and words can’t even explain how AMAZING it was. From the first phone call I made inquiring about the venue all the way up to the end of the big day it was perfect. I would 10/10 recommend this venue to any couple. My wedding planning process was a little different, due to being located out of state and also planning a wedding during a pandemic. But, the venue coordinator Nikky ensured those hurdles did not get in the way of planning the big day. I did not even think about hiring a wedding planner because she helped make all my ideas and wishes come true. My husband and I wanted to get married at a venue that offers both a ceremony and reception, so we made the trip to visit Kiln Creek and immediately knew this was the place for us. The venue has many options to have an indoor/outdoor ceremony and what size ballroom you would like for your reception. It truly is an incredible venue. Our big day ran so smoothly from the wedding party getting ready in the locker rooms to the delicious food being passed around by a very professional timely staff. Nikky ensured all the vendors were set up correctly. Even the little things stood out that I believe most venue coordinators would not do, such as making sure my dress train was spread out beautifully before walking down the aisle and making sure my husband and I got to taste the appetizers that were served at cocktail hour while we were getting pictures. I could go on forever how much we appreciated Nikky and the staff at Kiln Creek. Thank you so much! -

We were the 1st wedding since things shut down due to Covid-19. The pandemic had us stressing but Nikky was so easy going and definitely had a very positive attitude. She was always there to answer any and all questions. Kiln Creek Golf and Resort is such a hidden gem. We were so pleased with everything on the wedding day. The bride & groom choose to have the ceremony under the arch on the patio and the ballroom for the reception. Nikky was so efficient, when I arrived the day before to drop things off she managed to unpack and decorate while we grabbed a bite from the Nest. I felt so comfortable leaving it all in her hands. Nikky is such a HUGH asset to Kiln Creek Resort. The ceremony started a little late but that was ok due to tunnel traffic. Pastor Cory Newell officiated the ceremony. He was Fantastic! It was beautiful weather considering it was calling for rain ALL weekend. To be outside under the blue skies and all the colors of the landscaping was so refreshing due to be quarantined. After the ceremony folks headed to grab a cocktail while we did photos. As we all took our seats the bride and groom entered. As big as the room is Nikky managed to make it feel cozy all while following the guidelines since we had such a small group. The food was so good. We had bang bang shrimp and meatballs for cocktail hour. Dinner was plated. We had a fresh salad, then for the main course was herb chicken and steak with green beans and potatoes. Everyone loved the food. The wait staff brought everything out so quick. We could not be more pleased with how the entire day turned out!!! I know a place can not stand on their own. It's truly all of the folks that work at Kiln Creek Golf and Resort that make it such a great place but the biggest asset they have is Nikky!!! She knows how to put it all together. We want to thank her and the entire team there for making my son and his bride's wedding all that and more!!!!

I loved our wedding reception at Kiln Creek. My bridal party and I got ready in the female locker room on the main floor at Kiln Creek. We took over the entire locker room and only had 2-3 golfers come in over a 6 hour period. It was the perfect space for the 5 of us plus my mom, grandmother etc. to get their hair and makeup done. Our ceremony was offsite at a local church, but when we came back we got STUNNING pictures on the golf course and we even took out golf carts! Our dinner was delicious and the room and the decor all ended up perfect. I am absolutely in love with this venue and I am so glad that we chose Kiln Creek for our wedding reception. They also have several ceremony space options, too, for those looking for ceremony and reception in one location. Thank you so much Kiln Creek!! :D -

We had a wonderful experience with Kiln Creek for our daughter’s wedding. The venue is beautiful. We had not considered this location, but my mother, who lives there, told us we should take look. Our daughter loved it right away. We had the rehearsal the evening before, followed by the rehearsal dinner right there at the Nest. It was perfect, especially since the new in-laws are from Florida and really needed an easy option for that. The day of the wedding- everything was set up for us. The outside wedding area was beautiful. Dinner was delicious and served promptly and hot. The staff cleaned everything and packed away all of our decorations. I highly recommend Kiln Creek as a wedding venue. -

Aside from being gorgeous, the wedding coordinator Laura Davis (and Nicki) are seriously the BEST! Laura helped me keep track of all the tiny details as well as reminded me of things I hadn’t even considered- I definitely couldn’t have planned my wedding reception without her. They set everything up on the day off which helped me be as stress free as possible. It has been three weeks since my wedding and my guests are still talking about how delicious the food was and how gorgeous the room looked. Highly recommend!!

Tara Sent on 06/15/2017Kiln Creek checked off all of the boxes for my wedding: outdoor ceremony and indoor reception at the same location, only wedding taking place that day, hotel rooms on site, reasonable prices per head for dinner, event coordinator on site, and a space outdoors where appealing pictures could be taken. The coordinator, Laura, is so sweet and patient and truly knows what she is doing. I have worked at hotels where the sales/event staff are gone by the time dinner is served. Not Laura-- she was there from probably 10am to 11:30pm making sure everything was perfect for me and my family/friends. The food is amazing and so affordable compared to what you normally see for wedding caterers. They were even able to order local beer and wine on my behalf to serve. The ballroom space is gorgeous and the windows are huge and make for a great picture. My family also loved the accommodations--they have hotel rooms on site that must have been updated within the last year. I am SO happy I decided to go with Kiln Creek! -

We immediately fell in love with the space when we saw it. Their packages are valuable and include Day or Coordinator services. We worked with Ruthanne and Ericka, and I honestly don't know how we would have planned our wedding without them. There is so much that we did not have to worry about in the midst of wedding planning. They provided recommendations for everything under the sun and allowed us to tailor our day to our vision. The package we selected included a 2-night stay at the resort and was such a help. From courtesy catering taste-testing and day of mimosas and lunch, this place did not disappoint. We received sooo many complaints on our wedding and the space. We did DIY a couple of items and brought some things along to display (custom banners and prints, photos, etc.) and were able to drop them off the week of the wedding. We provided Ruthanne with a list of everything and some instructions on where we wanted them, and they executed. She also did not hesitant to reach out to our vendors to get and provide relevant information. As an added bonus, some of our guests were able to book their stays at the resort as well, at a discounted rated, to make their travel and accommodations that much easier. They have a restaurant onsite also, that we all ate at for breakfast both mornings and for rehearsal dinner. And the food? Chef's kiss. The same chef also provides the wedding dinner catering - everyone ranted and raved about their dinner that evening! For our grand exit, they provided a bubble machine just for some extra razzle dazzle!
The only downside I was not expecting and encourage future couples to consider is that pricing does not include linens (table clothes, napkins, etc.), catering, or bar. So you will have a separate balance owed, beyond package pricing. But honestly, with all that they DO provide and offer, it still balances out and is very much worth it.
Whether your budget is small, medium, or large, this venue is extremely accommodating, flexible, and helpful (and very beautiful). The day was literally perfect! Thank you Ruthanne, Ericka, and Kiln Creek for everything! -

We interviewed many venues and ultimately chose Kiln Creek because the communication was SO MUCH better than another very popular venue we were looking at.
Planning our daughter's wedding from another state was incredibly stressful, so I relied heavily on Nikky and her team.
Nikky has wonderful communication skills and addresses concerns quickly and thoroughly.
I was not an easy mother-of-the-bride to work with because I am very much a perfectionist and questioned every single detail.
Her patience and attention to detail was extremely helpful and put me at ease when I was a nervous wreck!
She made recommendations on everything, including vendors to help create the perfect day and guided us the whole way and from start to finish!!
The were only a few small concerns during the evening-
The food portions were quite small..
And the wedding cake was only served to those seated (approx 35ppl), so dancing guests didn't receive cake and it wasn't set out to be accessible... I had to go to the kitchen to ask for the rest to be brought out... only 12 more slices were brought and set by the photobooth and I carried to the cake table, myself. :-/
I don't know what happened to the rest of the cake and cupcakes that were never served..
Ultimately, it was very beautiful day and everyone had a great time. 💝 -

Even with a pandemic and bad weather, Kiln Creek made our wedding day absolutely perfect. Nikky is great at what she does and made the planning process stress-free. Everything ran smoothly on the big day and we're still in disbelief of how lucky we are to have gotten married at such an amazing venue.

Good options for various wedding sizes. We used the smaller room attached to the restaurant. I loved the room overall (we had 37 people and it fit us all very well), but wish the televisions were not on the walls. Of course we knew this when we booked, but I felt it took away from the decorations. The food was great and I loved the signature drinks, which were picked with the help of the Nest bartender. Nikky did a great job with the day of coordination. Our guests had a great time and we were given lots of compliments on the venue.
