As a Professional DJ with 25+ years of experience , some planners often stand out for their professionalism, communication and how 'well put together' the event is from start to finish. .... I will say , ALL BOXES were checked with the addition of the exceptional customer service that was displayed throughout the entire process......... I wlll be referring this company to brides and grooms this 2025-26 wedding season.

Absolutely phenomenal experience! We had the pleasure of working with Emily King, and it was the best decision and the most important vendor we hired for our wedding. From the very first meeting to the final farewell, Emily demonstrated unparalleled professionalism, creativity, and dedication.
Emily took the time to understand our vision (she made my fuchsia color palette look absolutely stunning) and turned our dreams into reality. Every detail, from the gorgeous flowers to the linens, to the custom stationary, to the seating arrangements, was meticulously planned and flawlessly executed. Her expertise and passion for her work were evident in every interaction and every element of our special weekend.
What truly set Emily apart is her ability to handle unexpected challenges with grace and efficiency. She made sure everything ran smoothly, allowing us to relax and fully enjoy our wedding weekend without any stress. The team’s coordination was seamless, and the vendors they recommended were top-notch (Aaron Watson (AMAZING photographer); Rachael Curry (extraordinary videographer); SteelCut Flowers (OMG heavenly floral), to name just a few.
Our guests are still raving about how beautiful and well-organized our wedding was, and we owe it all to Emily. If you’re looking for a wedding planner who will go above and beyond to make your day perfect, look no further. We can't recommend Emily and Just a little ditty highly enough. Five stars simply doesn't do justice to the exceptional service they provide!

We cannot express enough how great our time was with both Emily and Dickie at Just a Little Ditty. The wedding planning process at times can be stressful but they went above and beyond to make our wedding day on 10.22 flawless and unique to us! My mom and I could go on and on about their services, but when the wedding was over, we felt we made friends out of both of them as well, as they are both such personable and intelligent ladies. I wish I could give more than 5 stars - Emily from Just A Little Ditty is an absolute angel. She is a calming presence when you need one. She is organized down to the very minute. She is responsive, easy to work with, knowledgeable, detail-oriented, and just an overall good person. We would have been lost without her. The entire weekend went flawlessly because of her. I cannot recommend Emily and her team enough. -

I cannot emphasize enough how amazing Maureen McKenna & the whole JALD team is! Booking JALD and having Maureen as our wedding planner was easily the best decision we made. Maureen's organization and attention to detail allowed us to relax during the planning process and actually ENJOY our time engaged.
Maureen provided several resources at the time of booking - a budget tracker and a timeline to keep us on track with planning. These were amazing to reference throughout our planning process and ensure we didn't forget anything. Maureen would regularly update these so we knew where we stood from a budget perspective as well as what we still had left to plan for. She was very knowledgeable with wedding trends and had amazing vendor recommendations. Maureen always provided more than one vendor for us to choose from, so we always felt like we had options for every aspect!
Maureen was able to take the vision I had in my head and actually bring it to life. Our wedding day exceeded my expectations, and thanks to Maureen we were able to enjoy the day stress free. Maureen's professionalism ensured the day went off without a hitch, but she also made sure we were having fun and able to relax, too. Alex also assisted day-of and the last few weeks leading up to our wedding, and she was also so friendly and easy to work with. Huge huge huge thank you to both Maureen & Alex for all their hard work and for keeping us sane throughout wedding planning! Our wedding day wouldn't have been what it was without the JALD team! -

We were so incredibly happy with just a little ditty and Marilyn Speight! Marilyn was so knowledgeable about every vendor and venue in the area, and she could quickly point me in the right direction given our desires. She was able to answer all of my miscellaneous wedding questions throughout the planning process and put me at ease through all the decisions. Marilyn was very well organized, a really wonderful communicator, and she gave the most wonderful design and detail recommendations. Marilyn made our wedding day go perfectly smooth, and she helped us have our dream wedding! We never had to worry about a single detail during our entire wedding. We were so lucky to work with her! Working with just a little ditty was amazing and was absolutely necessary. We cannot recommend just a little ditty or Marilyn Speight enough!! -

Choosing Dickie Morris to be our wedding planner was one of the best choices of our entire wedding!! Dickie is absolutely meticulous in organization, executes plans beautifully, and is the queen of orchestrating products and events to be absolutely beautiful, memorable, and stunning. Dickie is so wonderful in communication- quick to respond and thorough. Our wedding day was perfect, but also filled with obstacles (rain and losing grandparents right before the ceremony just a few of them!). Dickie handled each obstacle with SUCH ease and poise. I, the bride, did not even catch wind of anything being wrong until after the wedding when fun stories were ebbing told! Dickie took our vision, ran with it and made it into the most gorgeous day in the world. She organized our rentals with such skill and has a great breadth of choice vendors that she works closely with. The rentals turned our reception into the most romantic boho time that we had dreamed of always! Dickie is an amazing choice for our wedding day, rehearsal dinner, and any event!!!! Recommend so highly! -

I am so beyond glad that we went with Maureen and just a little ditty as our planner. Maureen was so helpful from step one and made things so easy with detailed suggestions on vendors, budget, and all around advice. I had literally no idea how many things I needed to think about and Maureen was incredibly patient with all of my questions. She really knew exactly what would and wouldn’t work at the Clifton, and her understanding of the venue made planning so much easier. We had people telling us all day how wonderful the wedding was, and Maureen gets so much credit for how perfectly the day went. She made sure I didn’t know about any of the very minor issues at all during the wedding day and everything was executed exactly like I’d wanted. I cannot recommend just a little ditty and especially Maureen for your wedding!

Marilyn and her team at Just a little ditty helped my husband and I to have the BEST wedding experience. We hired Marilyn and JALD for their month of planning service and it was the best choice we made! Our plans changed from September 2020 to postponing until April 2021. Marilyn helped us pick our new date and coordinated all the options with all of our vendors and the postponement was honestly the easiest part of the whole planning process. Marilyn’s help on the day of was so incredible. She is kind, warm, professional, and gets the job done! I cannot recommend her more! -

As a 2020 COVID bride I don’t know what I would have done without just a little ditty. Not only was Maureen there for all my questions and advice, when COVID hit and we had to postpone then move up our wedding the whole just a little ditty team sprang in to action to make sure our day would still be special. Dickie and Emily jumped right in for our wedding and make sure everything went off without a hitch. Seriously you want these talented ladies in your corner! -

It’s impossible to capture just how great Emily is to work with and how important she was to making our wedding a success. She was an absolute pleasure to work with and a wonderful person to have around when stress levels started rising. In the occasional sea of chaos that a wedding can be, she was always calm, cool, collected, sympathetic, and helpful. She met every single need we had, sometimes before we even knew we needed her. Our wedding was at the John Marshall Ballrooms in Richmond and Emily helped get 150 guests from one ballroom to another, organized cocktail hour, got our band, photographer, and hair/makeup vendors set up and fed, made some to-go boxes for us, and even jumped in with some tissues and eye drops when the emotions got the better of us. We had a perfect wedding day thanks in huge part to Emily, and if you’re lucky enough to work with her, your wedding will be perfect, too. -

We worked with Marilyn from the just a little ditty team and were so happy with our experience. Marilyn (and Dickie) helped us pick great vendors and think through all the details we needed (and didn’t push us to focus on things we didn’t think were important). We wanted to plan a wedding that was beautiful and fun with a focus on our Jewish traditions and rituals. Marilyn worked with us so well to incorporate and accommodate these aspects into our celebration. She was a guide on the biggest and smallest questions and we would have been lost and overwhelmed without her.
The day of our wedding we felt so supported and taken care of by the just a little ditty team - it let us relax and have one of the best days of our lives, an experience we will always treasure. -

Katie Sent on 08/09/2019Maureen Ensured Our Big Day Was Absolutely Perfect!!!!
Choosing Just a Little Ditty, and specifically Maureen McKenna, as our Month-Of Wedding Planner was the best decision we could have made with our wedding. We had a lot of moving parts (e.g., multi-course dinner with wine pairings, late night snacks, photographer and videographer, etc.) and lots of people to manage (I had 10 bridesmaids!) and everything went off without a hitch. Maureen ensured it was simply flawless. Anything that went wrong (which was literally only two small things!) she immediately fixed without a hint of freneticism: When the adjuster on my husband's suit vest ripped off, she grabbed the sewing kit, found our family member who is a master seamstress, and had it fixed in minutes. When we realized we didn't have our wedding cake knife and server (we said we would bring our own), she worked quickly with the catering team to make sure we got them. Throughout the whole day and evening everyone kept remarking on how helpful Maureen was and how CALM she was! AND they kept remarking on how calm and chill I was (because there wasn't a single thing to worry or stress about!). She seriously pulled off the wedding of our dreams- it was a true fairytale and worth every penny to have her help. Not only was Maureen amazing the day of the wedding, she helped us stay on track in the lead up to the wedding with monthly planning calls and a detailed tracker to ensure nothing was forgotten or left to the last minute. Plus as someone who got married in Charlottesville herself, she has lots of great ideas and she knows every vendor in the business (they all love her too). I highly recommend Maureen and Just a Little Ditty to anyone and everyone!!! -

Absolutely the best decision!
Marilyn was absolutely amazing. We interviewed quite a few wedding planners before making a decision for our May wedding. I worked in event planning for several years and really wanted to feel confident that whoever we chose was super on top of it! Marilyn far exceeded our expectations. She was wonderful - from the early planning phases to the day-of. She always offered the perfect amount of input and advice. Every time we had a call with her leading up to the wedding, I got off the phone feeling a new confidence and excitement about our wedding. We definitely picked a tough venue. It was extremely rural and almost 100% outdoors in Virginia in May - that's basically the riskiest thing ever. On the Friday before the wedding, our rain site flooded and we had to come up with a solution. Marilyn rented us a tent overnight and was able to convert our reception venue into a ceremony site at noon the day of the wedding. She coordinated with all the vendors, our guests thought it was planned! After the ceremony, she transitioned the space seamlessly, it was so impressive. We didn't have a care in the world on the day of our wedding, not even the rain! I can't say enough good things about Marilyn, Just a Little Ditty is the best!! -

Just a little ditty, Marilyn, Dickie, and Margaret were SO SO SO wonderful for our month of coordination. I honestly could not have done it without them. Marilyn was our main point of contact during the year leading up to the wedding. She was EXTREMELY organized, professional, helpful and so much more. She was always there to answer any questions and help in whatever way she could. I could not have done it without her.
On our big day everything went off without a hitch! Dickie and Margaret were on site day of and it couldn’t have gone any better. My husband and I were able to enjoy ourselves without having to worry about anything and we cannot thank them enough for that. They handled everything.
I would HIGHLY recommend them for your wedding planning needs. I cannot express enough how wonderful they were.
Thank JALD and team for all that you did for my husband and I. We cannot thank you enough for giving us and helping us have a wonderful, memorable wedding day. -

Marilyn was highly communicative throughout our entire engagement year and she is extremely organized. When my work life was hectic and stressful at times and wedding planning had to be put on the back burner, Marilyn swooped in without being asked and helped manage the vendor communication. On our wedding day, my husband and I did not worry about a thing, as Marilyn and her team worked seamlessly and made sure everything was on task. They checked in on us throughout the evening and everything seemed truly flawless. Our wedding was a dream come true and we can't thank Marilyn and Just a Little Ditty enough. Highly recommend!

Dickie helped us with decor planning, and our wedding was even more beautiful than I could have imagined. The week of the wedding, Dickie had everything planned our so well, managed our rehearsal flawlessly, and everything went so smoothly the day of the wedding. When issues or decisions came up during the wedding day, Dickie diffused them and helped my husband and I make the call to have our wedding site moved because of rain, and it was perfect! In the days following the wedding, Dickie texted us pictures that she took on her phone during our weekend, and it was so wonderful to see our event through her eyes. We are so thankful that we had Dickie on our vendor team! -
Suzie Sent on 01/09/2018Dickie was a dream to work with. From the moment my mother and I met her I knew she was the right wedding planner for our Charlottesville wedding. Throughout our year-long engagement, Dickie was available for phone calls with me and Patrick, my mom, and was always able to guide us in the right direction. Once the wedding weekend arrived, Dickie handled almost everything. We met for a major timeline review and went over any last minute vendor details. On the wedding day, she was calm, cool and collected. I was never bothered by guests or staff. She made sure I had my lipstick, a drink, food to eat, and that everything was to our liking. Patrick and I don't know what we would have done without her managing the process. We feel so blessed we had Dickie as our wedding planner! Thank you, Dickie!
