  Best photographer ever

  Jess did such an excellent job with our elopement photos. It was exactly the feel we were looking for; the photos far exceeded our expectations. I’m not really a photogenic person, but I felt like I was after the photoshoot!

  Kind, personable, and organized!

  Jess was so lovely to work with! My partner and I had an intimate "micro wedding" with eight people in attendance. Jess worked with us to make our day feel perfect for us and our style. She was personable, kind, organized, and adaptable; especially given the 19 degree weather. I enjoyed how she was open to some of our suggestions and helped us to best structure our day. We wouldn't hesitate to use Jess' photographer services in the future!

  Jess creates and captures magic!!!

  I came across Jess' work when I was searching for a photographer for our wedding. I was instantly struck by not only her high quality and gorgeous work but how each of her photos told a beautiful story. Her calm, creative and sweet personality was the perfect energy to have with us on our wedding day – Jess made our whole family feel relaxed and comfortable throughout the whole day. I am absolutely in love with our wedding photos - we will l treasure them forever. We will continue to work with Jess for all our family moments in the future. I simply cannot recommend her enough!

  Wedding Memories

  I somehow have been unable to come up with any words that would adequately describe the amount of gratitude that my husband Philip and I feel towards Jess.. but i'll try. When Philip and I were first engaged, we agreed on two things that were non-negotiable for our wedding: That only our closest and dearest family would be present, and that we would invest in a photographer that would capture the precious memories that would slowly fade in our minds as we grew older.
  
  I remember looking at countless photographers and feeling a sense of desperation. Not because there weren't hundreds of talented photographers – because there were – but because looking at other people’s happiest and most sacred of days made me feel nothing. By God's grace, we came across Jess's work and spent some time looking through her previous wedding galleries on her website and were amazed. She captured the happy moments, the quiet moments, and everything in-between. I felt like we could somehow feel the emotions complete strangers felt on their happiest of days and like we were there experiencing every moment and special interaction between bride, groom, and family. We also spent some time reading through her purpose and why she does what she does and were completely sold.
  
  After reaching out to Jess, every conversation she had with us was with the intent to understand us deeply as a couple and to foster a relationship that would put us at ease with her presence in our most intimate moments. Through the months leading up to our day, Jess paid as much attention to Philip as myself and specifically asked to speak to him for a couple of minutes during our first conversation with her via telephone. Philip was surprised but so appreciative of the kind gesture - it made him feel like his thoughts mattered and it stuck with him throughout.
  
  Once our day arrived, Jess arrived with her newborn baby boy and sister-in-law (we hired her knowing and being totally okay with this, and were privileged that she agreed to do our wedding so early after giving birth). She immediately became my favorite person there. Not because she was the life of the party, but because she had a calming and peaceful spirit that made everything seem like it was going to be okay. Our day was not particularly stressful since we had a small amount of guests, but whenever she was around everything automatically felt better. She genuinely has that magic about her. Throughout our day, Jess kept busy capturing every single little detail and shred of beautiful lighting and still managed to build relationships with my guests and nurse her baby boy... watching her balance all of these things gave me an overwhelming sense of pride to have been able to know a person so committed to their passion, while still nurturing and prioritizing the loved ones in her life. Talk about a kick-ass woman and human being! Honestly, we plan on seeing her in the future, we can't imagine not ever crossing paths again.
  
  It has now been a couple of months since we received our photo gallery... the memories she captured instantly became one of the most treasured things in my life. I finally had the chance to look through EVERY single perfect and imperfect photo and feel comfortable saying that if our home caught fire, it would be one of the only things I would need to save. Yes, our portraits against a mountainous backdrop are epic and artistically stunning.. but the raw, emotional moments she captured.. the tears rolling down my mother's face, my grandmother's delicate and aged hands, my MIL's emotions during her last moment of solitude with her son, my hands locked with my best friend's during prayer, and our family praying, worshipping, laughing and crying are my most beloved memories of all.
  
  I know that we will look back on these photos 50 years down the road and that there will be tears in our eyes looking back at the beautiful faces of our loved ones that might not be on earth with us any longer and remembering the day that started the rest of our lives together.

  Where to start? As a wedding photographer, choosing a photographer for my own wedding was daunting. I had a hard time imagining being able to take a deep a breath, completely trust someone with every detail, and just enjoy our wedding day. And then I found Jess. From the kindness and intentionality of her very first email, I knew that she was exactly the person who would become not just our photographer, but a dear friend. I was so struck by her relaxed and humble nature when we first met during our engagement shoot; she put us at complete ease. Jess's artistry is completely inspiring and breathtaking, but I was equally impacted by her care for us as clients - I seriously have never met a more intentional person. She took the time to ask so many questions, getting to know us as a couple and what was important to us. She was so kind and thoughtful towards our friends and family on our wedding day, and some of our favorite memories are the moments we got to spend with her during portraits. I can't stress enough how amazing it was to find someone who so perfectly delivered a trifecta of unparalleled talent, complete professionalism, and total personableness. Stephen and I have been more impacted by Jess than we thought possible in a wedding photographer; she exceeded every expectation. We just feel incredibly blessed to have found someone to capture our day in such a poignant, beautiful way, and to have come away with a sweet friendship that has surpassed our wedding season.   It was super important to my husband and I to have a photographer that really told a story of our day. Given that both of us are amateur photographers, and we really value the photo-journalistic style (as in, more real moments captured vs posed photos), it was important to us to have a photographer that got that vibe. Jess totally did. She is so talented and now when we look at our photos and our photo album it's such a beautiful story of our experience not only over the wedding day- but the whole weekend. We had her at the rehearsal dinner, all day during the wedding, and the following day for an adventure shoot. I would highly recommend her to anyone. She's also just a total sweetheart, super flexible and easy to work with. Best decision we made.

  Looking for a photographer was one of the most important aspects towards my wedding and I had no idea where to start. I began by looking up Pacific Northwest Photographers and came across Jess's page. Pictures are what mattered the most to me, because those are what last forever. I wanted to have pictures that portrayed real, authentic moments that showed our personalities, our style, and our love for nature. I immediately fell in love with Jess's portfolio and contacted her for availability. When the time came for my wedding nothing felt like it was going smooth that day as my Dad was unable to make it due to health reasons. Jess was so flexible, accommodating, and had great suggestions that made the day as perfect as it could be (and she was 7 months pregnant)! She is an expert in the field of photography and whatever stress I had at the start of the day went away completely. This was my husband and my first shoot together and we didn't know quite know what to expect, but instead of feeling awkward, we felt so incredibly comfortable being ourselves around Jess and letting her do her job. She guided us without being commanding and taking away our authenticity, which were captured beautifully in the pictures. When I got our pictures back I instantly started crying; they were beyond what I ever could have imagined. Who knew you could have so much variety with just pictures of you and your significant other. There were moments of tears, laughter, silence, and so much joyful energy and you can see each emotion in the pictures; and each one tells a different story. They took me right back to that day and I knew I had made the best decision choosing Jess as our photographer. We love her so much and I hope to have the pleasure of using her services again for a future event :)

  My husband and I are from South Carolina but decided to get married in the Portland, OR area because we love the green moss that covers everything and the moody look of the rain and overcast skies. When looking for a photographer, we came across Jess Hunter and immediately fell in love with her style. We had decided on a day for the wedding but nothing was set in stone when we contacted Jess to see if she would be a good fit. She was actually already booked for the day we decided on but was available the day before. We quickly decided she was worth changing our plans for, and we couldn't have made a better choice. Jess recommended several sites that she thought would be great for our wedding and although we were not able to see the location in advance, we put our full trust in her, knowing that she would capture it beautifully. And she did! Getting to our waterfall required a bit of a steep hike and Jess managed it, with her gear, like a pro. She captured the most emotional and candid photos for us and I couldn't even imagine how amazing everything turned out. If Jess Hunter is available for your wedding day, book her! It will be one of the best decisions you can make for a once in a lifetime opportunity.

  The day I actually met Jess in person was on my wedding day. For most people that'd be really scary but after seeing her work I had to have her. I felt so comfortable with hiring Jess because she was so quick to respond with her emails and was very thorough. She was as excited to work with me as I was with her. She worked with me on the price since I was having a smaller wedding but she also had to travel.
  That's another thing- Jess didn't bat an eyelash when I asked her to come to St. Augustine for my wedding all the from Washington only a few days before Christmas.
  On my wedding day, my hubby and I both noticed that Jess is definitely a workaholic. She was 10 places at once it was seriously amazing! I felt like she really got the moments where my husband and I were just being ourselves and flawlessly captured our personalities.
  I don't even know what to say about the finished photos. When I saw them the first time I cried they were so incredible. So much more than I hoped for or expected. I've seen so many cheesy wedding pictures (Jess and I joked about these cheesy poses all day!) and mine were emotional and so real. Everyone who has seen my pictures by Jess tells me my day looked like a fairy tale and it really was.
  I can't thank Jess enough for the incredible work she did. If you are one the fence due to price or whatever, DO IT. I will have Jess's work on my walls, in my photo albums, in my home for the rest of my life and to say it was worth it is an understatement. Thank you Jess for an incredible day and even more incredible pictures!!

  Jess, wow. Where to begin...Jess is someone who is not only truly talented and professional, but someone who makes the experience fun and delivers amazing photographs. If you want a photographer that will capture the most pure and raw moments in the most intimate way, Jess Hunter is the photographer you need! After spending months searching for a wedding photographer, I am so glad I stumbled upon Jess's Instagram account and website! Choosing her was one of the best decisions we've made for our wedding, hands down! She is quick to reply, extremely pleasant to work with, and delivers an absolutely gorgeous and personalized package in the end. We've had an infinite amount of compliments on our wedding photos. Her wild heart, adventurous spirit and creative style not only make her an awesome person, but a fantastic photographer! If I has to do it all over again, I'd choose Jess without hesitation! :)

She is quick to reply, extremely pleasant to work with, and delivers an absolutely gorgeous and personalized package in the end. We've had an infinite amount of compliments on our wedding photos. Her wild heart, adventurous spirit and creative style not only make her an awesome person, but a fantastic photographer! If I has to do it all over again, I'd choose Jess without hesitation! :)

  I am absolutely in love with all the images from my wedding. Jess is a wonderful photographer. She is so easy to talk to and comfortable to be around. That communication (on a pretty stressful day) made everything so much smoother. I couldn't be more pleased with the experience or the results, both were fantastic.

  If it were possible to give higher than 5 stars, I would. My fiance and I hired Jess to photograph our elopement on the Oregon Coast last summer. She was so warm and friendly and it made planning our wedding so much easier, especially being on the other side of the country. When I first saw past weddings and elopements she had shot, I loved how nature-inspired the photos were and how unique and authentic each couple looked. She really has a gift at capturing beautiful candid photos and her photos have such a dreamy artisitic feel. Every detail she provided us with felt personal and specifically catered towards us as a couple. I still to this day cherish every photo from our special day and would highly recommend her to anyone wanting photos with that extra touch of magic.
