Extraordinary wedding planner
Working with Shauna from J29 Events was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. From the very first conversation, she brought an unmatched level of expertise, organization, and warmth to the planning process. Shauna has a remarkable ability to balance professionalism with a personal, caring touch — she listens closely, understands your vision, and elevates it in ways you never even imagined.
Shauna’s planning and coordination made the entire wedding experience seamless and joyful. She anticipated every detail, coordinated flawlessly with all of our vendors, and kept everything running smoothly without ever feeling overbearing. Her calming presence allowed me to fully enjoy the day and remain focused on what mattered most rather than worrying about logistics. Sabrina/J29 was one of the best decisions made during our wedding journey
Words can’t describe how grateful and fortunate we were to come across Sabrina and have her as our wedding planner/coordinators. My now wife and I had a vision to create a weekend getaway in Hood River for our guests, including ones that had never been to the Pacific Northwest and have multiple events that included a day of Indian wedding festivities (Mhendi and Sangeet), followed up a day of western wedding while still paying homage to Indian culture. Sabrina took on the challenge, coordinated, designed and planned events across the weekend and delivered above and beyond our expectations. Sabrina’s strength is carefully listening on her client’s vision, learning our communication style, problem solving in high stressful environments and bring proactive. Sabrina is easy to get along, very approachable and each time we meet with her made us more excited for the big day. Sabrina was great at getting early inputs from us on the vibe and feel for the weekend and events we envisioned, and brought her own design inputs which uplifted the theme of our wedding to create an incredible experience for us and our guest. Her recommendation for us to host the Indian events at the Society Hotel and have all our guest stay there really simplified logistics and created a fun weekend for us and our guest. She even helped us secure room blocks for accommodating our guest even though the hotel was initially very resistant in doing so. My wife and I, being very literal, needed more visual cues to better understand how different designs would come together. Sabrina understood that and was quick at putting together design boards/decks to simplify brainstorming but then to see the final vision come together was above and beyond what we expected. After our initial meeting, Sabrina had a compressive plan in place, including a budget planner that we followed, allowing us to stay on course. As a groom, I was very much involved in the design process and what I appreciate about Sabrina was balancing inputs from my wife and I who at times had different design aesthetic. Instead of favoring one design input vs another, Sabrina was patient with us, dove into understanding what was important to us and curated design blends that in the end were exceptional and satisfied both my wife and I. Her ability to turn a boring and empty gym at the Society Hotel into an incredible space with Indian wedding aesthetic was incredible to experience and more importantly was significantly better than we would have imagined. Something I really appreciated about Sabrina was having periodic check-ins that were quick and to the point to continue to make progress on items that required our input. She gently nudged us when needed to close on decisions and kept us on budget and found great alternatives when something we wanted would exceed our budget. Instead of given us too many options, she would curate vendor based on our preferences she has learnt and design choices to 2-3 items that helped us avoid being overwhelmed with choices.
Sabrina’s problem-solving skills, coupled with her knowledge about the wedding industry, her designing skills, and network of vendors is an asset. For example, when we weren’t satisfied with the existing lighting at our venue, she was able to put together a plan with one of her vendors even though initially it appeared that adding more lights would be difficult. Similarly, as we struggled to find an Indian caterer, Sabrina worked with the catering team for the non-Indian event to work with us to put together an Indian menu that was impressive. The pool of recommended vendors that J29 has in its portfolio is an important asset. Because of Sabrina’s personal connections to various vendors, it felt that the entire vendor team was in-sync and knew each other’s rhythm. Another strength of Sabrina is how well she is organized to where my wife and I were never aware of all the work happening behind the scenes during the events and everything were smooth and according to the plans Sabrina laid out well in advance of the events. Sabrina and her team managed and coordinated with all the vendors and it and ensured the event went on as planned with all the backup plans in place just in case they were needed without hassle. It was quite impressive to see them all curate each event.
I would highly recommend Sabrina and the J29 team and will looking for more excuse to require their service in the future. Throughout this process my wife and I became great friends with Sabrina and were really grateful to have made the choice to work with her and the J29. -

Vision, Heart, Spunk, Pure Excellence
Where to begin. If I could write vows to Sabrina and J29 Events, I would. My husband and I were on the cusp of hiring a different planner, and had even had an ideation/brainstorming session, but I happened to do one last phone call interview because why not. From that first phone call with Sabrina I immediately knew I had found the person and team that I would want with me throughout this process. We were aiming to put together a part-Western, part-Indian multi-day affair. We wanted it to be equal parts glamorous and cozy/laid back. We literally said “the vibe is Old Hollywood meets PNW organic and cozy.” Sabrina reveled in these contrasts and contradictions, and together we assembled an Indian-Western fusion wedding that dazzled every guest.
What was I looking for in the beginning? A team that was organized, reliable, and could help bring my vision to life. Someone who would run interference on my wedding day and help make sure things happened without a hitch. Did I get those things? Absolutely. Sabrina had every detail covered, helped me delegate every task, and had the most comprehensive planning document that she distributed to every vendor. Any person could have made sure things went to plan if she wasn’t able to be there, and I was able to hand that doc to our wedding party and all the little items magically happened (or if they didn’t, I didn’t notice). Vendors didn’t come to me with questions (and the one that did got a friendly but firm “please speak to me instead” from Sabrina). Thanks to her and the incredibly beautiful event that she helped us put together, we were 10000% present on our wedding day. So those are the things that the How-To-Pick-a-Planner articles say you should look for, and we got them in spades.
But man oh man, it’s the things that you don’t realize you need (or you think it might be shooting for the moon to ask for) that had me floored about working with Sabrina and J29.
One was the network. Sabrina and J29 are clearly well known within the event space for doing what they do with zest, gusto, and style. Every vendor we interviewed and worked with had amazing things to say about her, either from experience or from having heard incredible things and being eager to establish a relationship not just with us as customers but with her as a fellow vendor! (At one point I told her she should just go ahead and run for mayor of the greater PDX area). When we could not get response to emails or outreach calls, Sabrina had the connection (or knew a friend who knew someone) that helped us cut through the wedding industry red tape and get things booked. She knows the industry and the players like the back of her hand, and saved us HOURS of research by giving us as many options as we wanted and then helping us narrow down. (After the second time of me saying, ‘No please go ahead and give us your top 5-6 recommendations’ and then doing a bunch of interviews and research and arriving at the top two that she had originally recommended, I stopped asking for so many and started getting the perfect 2-3 vendor choices to make choosing a little easier). The team that we were able to assemble was sheer perfection. The catering was creative and delicious, delivering exactly the vibe and custom mouthwatering menu that we were hoping for. The flowers, after many many check-ins and discussions, were a delight. We were able to get a room block at a hotel that generally doesn’t do them during our wedding date. And the list goes on. All this to say, Sabrina and the J29 team are well-known, well-respected, and can get you connected to the team you need and want while not only saving you time, stress, and headache but actually making the process fun.
That’s the thing that really blew my now-husband and I away though - Sabrina herself. She is honestly Superwoman. Kind. Funny. Endlessly energetic. Did I mention funny? She had a way of speaking and doing that convinced me from the first phone call that “this is the person who will get sh** done” on my behalf. It’s like all the little details that my neurotic, type-A personality might have fretted about — Sabrina had already thought of them, and a solution or two up her sleeve, and was totally unphased. Any time we had doubts that we were being too fussy or particular, she would lovingly remind us that WE were “the pie,” and we deserved every drop of love we wanted to infuse. Every time I spoke to her I felt re-energized and excited for what we were building, even if I’d felt stressed before. She was the perfect salve to my procrastination when I wanted to avoid decisions. I couldn’t not pick up the phone when she called because every conversation was so fun. It wasn’t just Sabrina’s attitude though - she was also committed to making sure that both my personality and my partner’s were well represented and balanced throughout all the tiny details, from napkin color to DJ choice. She would help us talk through different opinions, getting to the heart of what mattered to both of us and offering creative, beautiful compromises that felt greater than the sum of their parts, and which made us both feel like our wedding was truly ours and nobody else’s.
A final thing I’ll mention is cost, but only because I read several reviews in the process of deciding to hire a planner that mentioned it and were very helpful to my decision. I read lots of great reviews about planners in which the reviewer said it was worth every penny - that hiring their planner was the best investment that they made in their wedding. I would triple down on this - hiring Sabrina and the J29 team was not only the best investment in our wedding, and one which I would make again in a heartbeat, but I honestly felt like what we got was so far above and beyond what we expected that we would have paid more. We had no idea the incredible creativity, knowledge, and execution that we were signing up for, and it was worth every penny we paid and then some. If you have the budget and are waffling at all on the topic of hiring a planner, or whether a few thousand dollars is really worth the difference, I am telling you that the ROI on J29 is huge — you will not regret this choice.
I could truly go on and on about Sabrina and the J29 team for hours (and all of my bridesmaids are probably sick of hearing me gush over her), so I’ll simply end with this: I could never imagine having thrown the amazing celebration that we did without Sabrina, and she really is the ride-or-die planner friend that people ache for. Our wedding was an actual dream come true and I firmly believe it would never have been as spectacular without her heart and know-how. She is our dear friend, she is our family. She has our hearts forever.-

Our dream wedding brought to life
To those doing their research on wedding coordinators and to those on the fence…J29 has our HIGHEST recommendation.
We got married on September 17th and I honestly don’t know what we would have done without Shauna and the J29 team. We hired them for full-service planning – which they describe as the ‘hand holding’ package on their website – and that’s exactly what it feels like. Planning a wedding can be incredibly stressful, but J29 took the stress out of the equation and actually made the entire process fun! We looked forward to every meeting and always left feeling accomplished and even more excited to see the vision Shauna was putting to life. We didn’t have to worry about making sure we had our bases covered because we quickly realized just how on their game J29 events is. And that’s saying something, because we are both type-A and very meticulous.
Throughout the planning process, Shauna was able to capture the vision of our ‘perfect wedding day’ through constant ad-hoc communication as well as in-depth scheduled meetings. She was responsive and addressed all of our calls, emails, and texts and after a few weeks, it felt like working with a close friend. She never once gave off a ‘close enough’ mentality; her high drive and attention to detail is palpable.
It doesn’t just take someone with the characteristics of a good planner to make a good planner. J29 is well connected in the industry – and they clearly only network with the best of the best. Every single referral that they gave us was tailored to our taste and highly talented at their own craft. We watched as J29 events curated a dream-team of vendors who made our wedding day look like something out of a dream.
As we got closer and closer to the wedding, the value of hiring J29 became more and more evident. And when the big day finally came, J29 events set themselves apart as the highest value-add to our wedding. Shauna & Sabrina were absolute machines. Their ability to coordinate 30 or so individuals from various vendor teams, overseeing & handling 200+ wedding guests and ensuring that we were sticking to our day-of timeline was so impressive.
As stressful as that job may sound, neither one of them wore it on their sleeves; every time they came into the bridal suites, they had smiles on their faces and made sure that there was a stress-free vibe in the room. What has been even more impressive is that they handled issues without us even knowing about them! We had only heard of the few tiny hiccups after our wedding. We left our wedding and in a paid-for car service. We came back the next day, and the planning team had taken our keys and packed up our car of all personal belongings that we left behind.
In hindsight, it is easy to look at the various things that we chose to do and not to do and decide if those things were worth it or not. Undoubtedly, hiring J29 Events was the single BEST decision we made in the wedding planning process. We give them our highest recommendation and have nothing but positive things to say about the team and the amount of work they put in for us. Anyone who hires them will surely be in good hands.

Amazing Experience!
J29 was a wonderful company to work with while we planned our intimate wedding ceremony! We were so lucky to work with Gabby who helped two, often indecisive, people create a memorable intimate ceremony and reception. Gabby was a great resource, and was able to find us an outstanding catering option that met a variety of dietary needs and tastes, as well as work well with all our other vendors. She was invaluable day of at our ceremony, and had everything running so smoothly. We had a unique set of wishes for our day, and I was completely confident that everything was in good hands with J29 and Gabby! Thank you for everything!

My wedding would have FAILED without this team!
Let me start this review off by saying if I didn't have Lois and the J29 team the day of my wedding it would have been an absolute chaotic mess lol. Honestly do not know what I would have done without them...
This is gonna be a long review so buckle up, but I'll start by explaining that I am an extremely Type A personality. I am also an art director and a photographer so planning aesthetic and photo worthy sets is my expertise... that being said.. planning an actual 100 person event in a completely different state in a tiny little town that I was not familiar with was a whole new challenge. I wanted to be super hands on with every detail (and there were A LOT of details) so instead of a full time planner I decided to plan mostly on my own and just get a day of coordinator so that I wouldn't have to deal with any stress the day of. I will say when I reached out to J29 I was skeptical just because I didn't understand what I was paying for because I thought "how hard could just the day of be, and I was doing most of the work anyway, right?" - WRONG (now looking back on this experience I WAS NAIVE AND IDK WHAT I WAS THINKING LOL)
I hopped on a call with Shauna and explained my wedding and she was able to match me with one of her girls who she thought would fit my personality and vibe - and that ANGEL SENT FROM ABOVE was Lois. Now Lois was only hired to be my "day of coordinator" but leading up to the event, my perfectly planned out wedding that I had been meticulously agonizing over for 2 years kinda hit the fan with a multiple important vendors dropping out and she would text me all hours of the day with recommendations and new ideas and ways of doing things which was WAY beyond what I ever expected from her and her team.
Our wedding was planned to be 100% outdoors and the venue had no backup plan - but of course the week of the wedding the weather shifted and a huge rain/wind storm came through not only leaving us scrambling for an impossible backup plan, but also with that type of weather we weren't allowed to use the majority of the venue space like we originally planned. My wedding was basically in the middle of nowhere and finding a tent that fit 100 people 4 days before the event was actually impossible, so Lois came up with a plan to do 5 smaller tents from different vendors and piece them all together to make like a mini festival vibe. We had to cram my entire venue layout into a small gravel square in the corner of the venue which was no small feat. One tent was the dinner tables, one tent was the dance floor, one tent was a lounge area, one tent was the bar, one tent had our vintage car in it, one area was a food truck, and one area was a giant white bounce house that I rented because why not! The literal fact that she was able to plan this all and pull this off successfully DAYS before the event is just baffling. I was having absolute sobbing meltdowns basically every day leading up to the wedding due to the complete 180 shift and not ONCE did Lois complain or have a negative attitude. Throughout this entire debacle she was SO POSITIVE and so helpful and honestly helped me stop crying most days from her amazing energy and positivity.
The day of the wedding was basically 10x worse weather than we could have ever expected. It was super foggy, torrential downpour, and 40mph sideways winds... I had a whole coffee truck setup for our wedding party to enjoy and because of the insane weather the generator wouldn't start. Lois went out of her way to get our entire wedding party coffee the morning of while we were getting ready because she knew how much I was looking forward to having that coffee truck! I literally almost cried, like WHAT?!
The morning of the wedding all of the tents they set up the night before had blown over so she was getting all of that situated - meanwhile trying to put together every single detail (I did A TON of DYI stuff lol) setting up in the wind and rain without bothering me a single time. Like I LITERALLY had no idea there was chaos happening at the venue she just handled everything like a freaking BOSS. I saw my dad later in the afternoon and he told me he had never seen a person work so hard in his entire life. My entire family was SOOOO impressed with how hard Lois was working, MULTIPLE people come up to me throughout the night asking where this lady came from she was just SO ON IT. From VERY early morning to VERY LATE at night she was always just getting it done I don't think she stopped moving a single moment. Whenever I needed something she just happened to be there! She was like my wedding fairy god mother and without her I know my wedding would not have been as amazing as it was.
I have a million more little stories and amazing things I could say about Lois and the J29 team but if you've made it this far into this review JUST BOOK THEM. It was worth EVERY SINGLE penny and then some. Without Lois I would have been an absolute crying stressed our mess in a chaotic wedding, instead I was blissfully unaware of anything and it was an absolute dream event.-

The best of the best!
We had the privilege of getting to work with the AMAZING Shauna with J29 events for our wedding. She is a delight to work with and we couldn't have asked for a better person to help create our vision. Her ability to be professional and detail-oriented makes her tremendously successful at what she does. This skillset was crucial as she helped us navigate the restrictions and constant changes with venue requirements with such ease. With every zoom conference call, email, phone call and in person venue walkthroughs the rehearsal, she made sure that we were moving right along in the planning process and would give great recommendations to help tie in all of the details.
My husband and I are so grateful for Shauna and the J29 events team! They made our wedding day vision come to life and helped us create a unique experience that tied in our culture and backgrounds. The day of the wedding went by smoothly and we are both well aware that it was because of Shauna skillfully juggling all of the pieces with the wedding timeline and vendors. We were able to fully enjoy the day without having to worry about a thing- it never once felt rushed or hectic! We can't wait to work with her for our next family event. THANK YOU! -

Jackpot Planner & Coordinator
Shauna and her team at J29 were incredibly supportive and their expertise of the wedding industry shined throughout the entire process. During planning I was a bit indecisive and overwhelmed, Shauna was attentive and asked the right questions to help lead me to a decision. Shauna excels at considering the couple holistically and made suggestions given our story, priorities and vision.
Without J29 I wouldn't have been referred the exceptional vendors we had for our wedding! Again, Shauna's attentiveness, knowledge and connections to various vendors was so invaluable. I cannot thank Shauna enough for all of her help during this process.
For the weeks leading up to the wedding, Lois was an all star and so thoughtful of details that would make the day of our microwedding effortless. Lois set up the most elegant and ethereal tablescape of my dreams! Everything about our microwedding was exactly what I envisioned and I am SO happy to have had J29's help! The Best of the Best
I was J29's first COVID wedding in October 2020. They did an amazing job and that is an understatement. I honestly believe that their involvement is why my wedding day went so flawless. I got the Month of Planner package, and it was the best money I spent, even my husband agrees. Both Shauna and Sabrina were in constant contact with me making sure I was aware of all the daily changes and requirements having to do with COVID, as well as keeping me on task as a bride to ensure my vision was being executed. J29 went above and beyond with making sure to pick up the ball where my venue had dropped it. They were proactive with informing my venue of the regulations as they changed. J29 really wanted to make sure I got the wedding I wanted even amid a global pandemic.
There is just so much that this team did that I have to list it: I live out of state and they were able to tour my venue for me therefore saving me a long road trip, went to the store when I forgot pins for my runner, made sure the venue was following CDC guidelines, kept in contact with the mayor's office to try and get ahead of any changes that would affect my wedding day, helped me change my shoes in the middle of the wedding, decorated the venue while I got ready and I didn't have to find friends and family to help, suggested great vendors, dealt with all of my vendor drama, read all my contracts and highlighted the important items I may have missed, stayed with me until I walked down the aisle and kept a positive environment.
The biggest saving grace was their ability to assist my venue, my venue was just so lost and had no clue. J29 stepped up and really got them together and they worked hard with having 2 to 3 a day communication with my venue 3 months out. J29 was just so amazing and is the best planner I could have asked for. Thank you, Shauna and Sabrina.

I had the pleasure of working alongside the team while helping plan my sister’s wedding. The wedding was nothing short of incredible! The correspondence with the team leading up to the wedding, the walk through meetings we had, rehearsal practice and the wedding day were incredible, and we owe a lot of that to the J29 team. Planning a wedding to be held in a place I had never been, from across the country no less, felt daunting. That’s when I found j29. Shauna helped me throughout the whole process and she made everything so easy and she was a wonderful sounding board. Ema was there for us the day of and I would have been a terrible mess if not for her! Amazing Destination wedding Experience
Shauna was incredible to work with. We decided to have a destination wedding, booking everything sight-unseen. Shauna put me at ease throughout the whole process and helped weigh-in and direct me while still allowing my aesthetic to come through. She made the entire wedding a cohesive experience which our guests are STILL raving about and in fact we have two couples who attended, request our vendor names because they enjoyed the wedding so much. It was the best experience and as someone in the event industry who handles events and different vendor personalities frequently, I do not give my endorsement lightly but Shauna and J29 Events have gone above and beyond & absolutely earned it. -

Fantastic, efficient, friendly, and well-organized
A fantastic experience, worth every penny. We always wondered what a day-of coordinator did -- well, we found out when we didn't have to do any of it! Ema rehearsed us, figured out how to assemble a chuppah, laid out all the decorations, marched us in successfully, and put everything away in the right boxes at the end. It was seamless. Later, her boss, Shauna, assisted me in dealing with a problem I had with the venue, resulting in a partial refund from the site. -

Wouldn't get married without them!
Shauna and the team members at J29 Events are thoughtful, precise, and passionate. The idea of wedding planning was very overwhelming for us (My husband and I are major procrastinators and very unorganized), but Shauna was able to break up the massive process into small achievable steps. Having this structure completely changed our experienced from overwhelming and confusing to positive and exciting. Leading up the the wedding date, her structure allowed us to essentially have all tasks completed weeks before our wedding.
Shauna was able to use her design expertise to create a design board that brought all of our various ideas into one cohesive vision. This then allowed us to begin finding the right vendors to bring that vision to life. Shauna's vast network of vendors and contacts was amazing and so crucial. She has contacts for each element of the planning process (venue, photography, catering, DJ, florals, videographer, signage, decor, etc) and because of that, we were able to connect with vendors that were in our budget, shared our style, and helped fulfill our vision. Having vendors already know and respect Shauna and J29 Events made for smooth communication and execution. Shauna was able to coordinate with all the various vendors on planing and logistics - a HUGE element that reduced our stress throughout this process. She also provided ways for us to stay within our budget but still include all desired elements of our day. Shauna and J29 Events made our entire wedding process easy and amazing. On our wedding day, Shauna was always two steps ahead of us. Our wedding day was absolutely perfect. -

I don't even have enough good things to say about J29. Shauna and her team go ABOVE and BEYOND to make sure your wedding planning process is perfect. Leading up to the big day, she listens to your ever need, crazy thought and idea. She is available all the time and is so supportive. She is so organized and stays on top of every detail.
The day of your wedding, she will make sure nothing bothers you. She will handle crazy in laws, parents, friends and family members. She will track down alcohol when your caterer runs out in the middle of the wedding. She will even figure out how to serve ice cream sandwiches to your guest in a creative way when your caterer forgets to put them in a freezer :) She solved every problem without even letting me know so that my guests had a great time and I didn't have to leave the dance floor.
Wedding planning is a stressful and consuming process. I was so lucky to have Shauna by my side every step of the way. I truly don't know what I would have done without her. Picking J29 events to plan my wedding was the best decision I made. -

My husband and I got married in Trinidad, CA on August 18th of this year. We booked Shauna for our day of wedding planner - but she was much more than that. We planned our wedding from out of state (in WA). I grew up in Northern California and my parents still live there, but Shauna was a huge guide to us even though we had family in the area. She helped us with all the details till the day of the wedding and was our SAVIOR on the day of. She kept everything on time for the ceremony and all the events of the reception. She made sure vendors were where they needed to be and on time. I think I told her 10+ times that I was so happy she was there on the day/night of the wedding. My husband nearly cut the tip of his finger off before the ceremony (she glued it up), my brother who was a groomsman ripped his pants 5 minutes before the wedding and she had everything needed to get us through the ceremony, and she even gave us her ring during the ceremony as our best man misplaced our rings. My MOH and I continue to rave about her to this day, she even made my MOH consider wedding planning because she is so impressive. Not only is she really great at her job, but she is a very genuine person. I highly, highly recommend J29 events for anyone considering help with wedding planning. -

TL;DR: Our wedding would not have happened without the dedication, expertise and LOVE of Shauna and her J29 team. If you want to feel confident going into the biggest day of your life, and then have the best day of your life, hire them.
We worked with Shauna for more than a year planning our dream wedding in the Columbia River Gorge. Her recommended vendors and style guidance was top notch, translating our vision into a reality and helping us think through things we never would have on our own.
But just 6 days before our wedding, the Eagle Creek Wildfire began. Three days later, our venue and the town of Hood River where all of our 100+ guests were going to stay, was at risk of evacuation. Shauna, while juggling two other weddings, mobilized not only her team at J29 Events, but her incredible network of vendors to spin up multiple backup options in case we needed to move everything.
Unfortunately, due to hazardous smoke conditions, we did have to relocate—but fortunately, our backup, lined up and executed by Shauna and her team, ended up being the most incredible wedding ever. In less than one week, she moved heaven and earth to recreate what we had planned for more than a year in a totally different location. Her logistical know-how, reputation, and sheer determination turned a nightmare into an absolute fairy tale. But don't take our word for it: ALL of our guests have said it's the best wedding they've ever been to... Which is no surprise—it was a J29 wedding.

To say Shauna and her team are incredible, is an understatement. Shauna helped us design and plan our day, and execute everything flawlessly. We worked with Shauna for our elopement and I can't say enough how grateful I was to have found her. Shauna was always very responsive and extremely patient with me as the venue and date of the elopement changed many times. Shauna had amazing advice and knew how to coordinate services and the day of so that my husband and I didn't have any stress. Shauna is professional and organized but truly I was left in awe of her talents with design and decor. Words cannot express how awesome and hardworking Shauna is at J29 events. I worked with her for over a year (full wedding planning service) and she always went above and beyond. She truly is a visionary and is able to give you your dream wedding that you have stuck in your mind but have no idea how to implement.
She also remembers literally everything. Something small I talked about five months, she will remember and ask me about. So that frantic feeling that you are forgetting something is gone when you are working with her. She also just happens to be an incredibly fun and kind person. I really enjoyed brainstorming ideas together.
Even when things get crazy, she stays incredibly calm and you can definitely count on her. One of my buses broke down that was supposed to transport me and my friends to the venue. My first conversation with Shauna went completely differently than my conversations with any other prospective wedding coordinators. Instead of laughing in my face at the number of people on the guest list and our budget, Shauna started giving me all kinds of suggestions for how we could make it work! It was awesome to feel like I had someone on my side who was willing to be straightforward and honest about costs and expectations of each piece of wedding planning. It was a lifesaver to be able to ask questions along the way, even though I had "only" hired J29 for day-of coordinating. Having someone on call who has done this before put me at ease over and over again during planning.
On the day of my wedding, I have Nicole to thank for just about everything. From the styling and set up, to managing the vendors, to keeping us on the timeline despite an epic rain delay-I literally do not know how we would've done it without her. I get tears in my eyes just remembering how it felt to walk into the ceremony and see my exact ideas executed even beyond what I had imagined! I never felt stressed out once on my wedding day, and if there was any chaos I certainly didn't know about it! We utilized Shauna at J29 Events for day-of services for our wedding and she was awesome. I had a pretty solid vision of what I wanted our wedding to look like and my mom and I handled a lot of the planning leading up to the wedding, but we were so happy to have Shauna for the rehearsal and the wedding day itself.
Shauna is extremely professional and very nice, but can also be assertive when need be, which is exactly what we wanted. It took so much stress off of our shoulders to know that on the day of, she could handle the vendors and get things set up while we got ready for the wedding. Shauna listened to what we wanted and executed it perfectly. I was so thrilled with how everything looked - it was like she read my mind! Shauna was also super helpful for all of those random questions that come up during the planning process that only a professional would know the answer to. She was quick to respond to emails and texts and was easily able to organize things like the processional and the timeline of the big day. Her master timeline was so detailed and was really a lifesaver.
Although I didn't utilize Shauna's design services very much in planning my wedding, based on the pictures I've seen of her events and also the beautiful decor of her home when we met with her there, I have no doubt that any event that is fully planned by her and her team is amazing. -

We hired Nicole from J29 Events to help with day-of coordination for our wedding. Nicole was super organized the whole time and although I had plenty of plans for how I wanted everything to look, Nicole executed my vision for the day even better than I could have imagined.
I wasn't able to help set up anything ahead of time, so I saw everything for the first time during the actual wedding, and I was overwhelmed with how incredibly it all came together.
Nicole was also a wonderful liaison between me and all of my vendors. She was able to take care of payments and gently let us know when we were needed for different activities throughout the evening. She also kept our large wedding party in line for the ceremony, which is a lot like herding cats.
For any bride or groom who is contemplating whether to spend the money and hire someone to help coordinate everything, even if just for the wedding day, I would say DO IT. I didn't think I would need help, and I know now that I would have had a completely different, stressful day without Nicole there. It was worth the investment, at least with J29 Events! -

Hiring Shauna was the best decision we made for our wedding. As a professional event planner myself, I have high expectations, and Shauna surpassed every one.
My Husband and I live abroad and wanted to plan a 'wedding weekend' celebration in Portland Oregon - a party plus two days of sightseeing and activities in Oregon. Shauna planned everything. She set up room blocking, sourced and managed our suppliers, did our timeline, did our food tastings, and handled everything on the day. She was very easy to work with, incredibly organized, and a super nice person. Can't recommend her enough!

Hiring J29 Events for day of coordination was the single best decision we made in planning our nearly entirely DIY wedding. J29’s services were absolutely essential to pulling off the wedding in the stress-free manner we had hoped for, and we were even able to stick to our fairly limited budget. Shauna replied promptly to our initial inquiry, and she was very warm and helpful in the phone call we set up shortly thereafter, providing us advice before we even decided to work together. We had the privilege of working with Ema for the next few months. Although we only hired J29 for day of coordination, Ema was extraordinarily responsive and always available to provide suggestions throughout the four months before the wedding. We got to know each other a bit in an in-person meeting in which she provided sage advice. It’s very easy to get bogged down in minute details and in thinking only about your guests’ experience when you’re planning a wedding. Ema could see that was my tendency, and encouraged me to think also of what my fiancé and I wanted out of the day and make that a priority. Ema’s talents truly shown the day of the wedding, where she firmly but kindly directed each of our vendors. Without Ema, I’m pretty sure no one would have signed our “guest book” or used the photo booth we set up. And when I made an off-hand comment that we forgot to put the garlands I made onto my (now) husband’s and my chairs and that I didn’t know where they were, she MADE one—the picture she took of us sitting there is one of our favorites from the day! The day after the wedding, she sent us lots of beautiful pictures she had taken of the wedding. Even though Ema was unobtrusive, many guests noticed how effective she was and commented to us how impressed they were. One even said, “I need Ema to organize my life.” Ema was a big part of making our wedding day everything we had hoped for. We would recommend her and J29 with absolutely no reservations. -

My now-husband and I were very impressed with Shauna the first time we talked to her, and before we were lucky to book her as our day-of coordinator for our August 30, 2014 wedding. She seemed very knowledgeable and experienced, she had great ideas and taste, and she seemed very organized (which was a huge plus for my OCD-organized husband :)). Shauna was so easy to work with, and she made everything run smoothly on our wedding day. She also has a great demeanor--sweet and friendly, yet she'll take charge and get things done. My mom and I did a lot of the planning leading up to the big day, but thanks to Shauna--all the details came together better than I could have imagined on the actual wedding day. Having Shauna there allowed us to enjoy the day because we knew the various day-of wedding details and logistics were being taken care of. I give my highest recommendation to Shauna! Shauna Karver from J29 was more than I could have imagined for a wedding coordinator. Shauna was recommended by a friend (who happens to be a vendor) and I am SO glad she told me about her! I waited until a few months before the wedding to hire a day of coordinator and was immediately floored by Shauna. After talking on the phone, I instantly knew she was the type of person I wanted to coordinate our wedding. Shauna immediately gave 100% and was so into learning about us, the wedding, and our vision. She was beyond professional and worked so hard to coordinate a flawless event. Friends who were helping on the day of the wedding told me multiple times that Shauna pulled her weight and worked her tail off from the minute she got there until the minute she left. She kept everyone to schedule and saw that our entire vision was carried out exactly as planned. Honestly, one of the best decisions I made through the planning process was to hire Shauna for coordination. On top of that, she is super sweet, warm and a class act. As a newlywed herself, I felt she really gets it as she was in the same boat not too long ago. I absolutely recommend her 100% to anyone looking for coordination or styling! -

I would highly recommend j29 Events to any future bride/party planner! Shauna, the owner/brain child to j29 provides the full package. Communication, it's key...and she is super good at it! Shoot her an e-mail, and I swear she gets back within 24 hrs. Another, she is great at coordinating large groups of people. She get's people there on time and isn't afraid to organize/heard people to where they need to be. Plus, when we worked together, she organized snacks! Clutch. Shauna isn't only a great organizer/communicator...but she has a great eye for style. She is able to coordinate styles/looks that will make impress your socks off!

J29 Events was amazing for my wedding coordination.
Archel was my coordinator for the day of the wedding. But she went well above and beyond the call of duty even before the day of the wedding, and even helped me find a ceremony venue at the last minute! She decorated my venue like a champion and made sure it went smoothly. There is no way I could have pulled off my Vegas wedding without her!

Shauna is a very easy person to work with. We are really thankful that we hired her and did not doubt her ability to make things happen smoothly on the day of our wedding. We opted for the day of wedding coordinator service as I pretty much had everything lined up and needed someone to orchestrate the day-of programme, etc. Her pricing is very reasonable and not astronomical at all compared to others that I looked at (and believe me, I did my research). She responds to emails in a timely manner and really gives her fullest attention and thoughts. As I am a pretty organized bride, I am really thankful that I definitely did not have to think about a lot of things, only make small last-minute decisions on an as-needed basis, and am really thankful for her organization and execution! -

I LOVED my party planner, Archel, and how everything turned out! She was so patient, helpful and basically took care of every little thing. I told her what I wanted and everything went as planned. Archel was such a big help from the day we were engaged to the day we said I Do. My husband and I still marvel at the fact that we had such a wonderful wedding planner as Archel. Planning a wedding was never something I had given much thought and, in the hands of a lesser, our wedding would have been haphazard and poorly-planned. Thankfully, we had Archel, who seamlessly made changes whenever I asked. Archel always made sure to accomendate my husband and myself as best she could and we are so thankful that we had her to plan our wedding. We really won the wedding planner lottery with Archel. I used J29 for a fundraiser party held in my backyard.
The transformation was unbelievable!
I didn't know my backyard could look so elegant and beautiful.
We had a sweets station set up in the corner and cocktail tables scattered arround the firepit and food station, drink station and donation table all dressed in white and light green. The vendors that came to install string lights, to deliver tables, to set up candy station and to take pictures were all very nice and quick. Our planner was so attentive from the start to finish, communicating every little detail. (I like being informed on everything).
I would definitely use J29 for any parties in the future... (maybe my son's birthday party... if they're free.) -

I had the pleasure of working with Ema at J29 events. I hired her to help with day of coordination, but she went way above and beyond that. From the time I hired her (about a month before the wedding), she was on the ball, collecting vendor agreements, making sure I had all the help I needed styling the event, and offering to coordinate rentals way in advance of the wedding. Ema is very detail oriented and professional, with an eye for great style.
She was so on top of all the little details, it allowed me to have a completely stress free wedding.
My only regret is that I didn't higher Ema sooner! I would highly recommend her services for day of coordination at the very least! -

I was originally planning to have my bridesmaids and relatives help out the day of my wedding. However, once knee deep in the planning I decided that for my sanity I needed to hire someone for the day of. Therefore I hired Nicole from J29 Events. I originally talked to the owner who set up an interview phone call to ensure I would connect with the Wedding Coordinator for my area-Nicole. I had interviewed other Wedding Coordinators and I decided on Nicole because she seemed knowledgable, helpful and had a problem solving attitude to her. I was able to meet with her a couple times before the day of and had a a lot of e-correspondence in between. I have a hard time trusting, which is my own personal insecurity and I think this would come out as micro managing at times. Nicole would keep reassuring me that she had it. She delivered on her word and and really did have it. Came my wedding day on 6/18/16 and Nicole was timely, helpful and so behind the scenes that I didn't notice half the stuff that was going on. There were a few things that came up with vendors and she rode the ties to work it out. She even gave us rides between venues to accommodate the transportation hiccups. I wish I could say my wedding went perfectly. I had selected all my vendors and unfortunately they didn't all deliver quality or deliver at all. I think what made the difference was having Nicole because she was working hard to come up with solutions the day of. Leaving me to enjoy my wedding and mingle with guests. The day went by very quickly and I was on cloud 9 due to the love serenade of our family and friends. So all the little mishaps didn't matter that day. If I could do it over, I would still plan it myself because I enjoy details, I would just select vendors with a lot of experience and integrity and for sure hire Nicole. If you are looking for a Wedding Coordinator to be there to bat it out for you, then I highly recommend J29 events. They offer several packages and pricing is fair. -

I initially contacted Shauna (the owner) regarding day of coordination for my wedding. After a couple of phone calls, I was paired with Ashley Spence who was my day of coordinator. I'm a wedding coordinator and stylist myself, so I didn't need much planning help but when it came to the day of stuff Ashley was a Godsend! She made some adjustments to our day of timeline to account for things I hadn't even thought of initially, and the day could not have gone smoother! Ashley was always within reach on our big day but not too "in your face". She was calm, cool and collected just as a coordinator should be. She kept us on schedule and I completely trusted her to make styling decisions on my behalf (and I am totally "type A" about that stuff since I am also a stylist). Thanks Ashley, you were wonderful! Now that I've had a couple of weeks to step back from everything, I can say that contracting with J29 for our 6/11/16 wedding was one of the smartest decisions we made. Nicole met with us a month before to go over all of the details that we'd put into place up to that point; I think our meeting lasted 3 hours, but Nicole didn't rush us and was extremely thorough, taking notes and asking questions to get a sense of what was most important to us. As the wedding got closer, she communicated with some of our vendors about their arrival times, set-up needs, and timelines; with this information, she helped us put together a detailed and realistic wedding day timeline (fellow Type A brides, you think you can do this, but you will have an inflated and unrealistic idea of how long things take and you will benefit from Nicole's firm but kind reminders-- she's done this more than we have!). This was then shared with vendors and I adjusted it for wedding party/family... so helpful! Nicole did such a great job the day-of making sure we stayed close to that schedule-- but without stressing me out about it. I'll never know all of the things she handled the day-of, but I know she directed our vendors as they arrived, did an amazing job setting up our reception (which was, in large part, why we needed her-- our ceremony was at 11AM so I had no time in the morning to do this myself; Nicole's background in design certainly came in handy here!), and handling whatever popped up (e.g. when our bartender ran out of champagne 1 hour in... she ran to Safeway to buy more!!). I can't even express how much of a relief it was to NOT be worrying all day and to know that the details were being handled by someone who's as much of a perfectionist as I am, but with way more wedding experience. Nicole does what is needed & works efficiently (she cleaned & packed up our event like a BOSS) and thinks of the small things (like making sure we had our meals right away so we could actually eat!). Hire J29! -

If you're looking for a no nonsense planner that will make sure things get done and keep you organized, then this is the vendor for you. I worked with both Shauna and Nicole and they both made sure that everything kept moving along throughout the process. Shauna provided the budget, vendor referrals, timeline and many other suggestions leading up to the big day. Nicole was there for the actual wedding day along with her assistant Emily and they made the day seamless. Great teamwork and always responsive. -

Our wedding planner was very sweet and we appreciated the contributions made to make our day special. That being said, we realized in a wedding like ours (rather laid back,not as formal), a wedding planner was probably something that wasn't as necessary as maybe it would be for a more formal affair. These are things you only know once the event is complete. We wouldn't have traded anything from our special day though and we loved Nicole's positivity and friendly nature. -

Maid of Honor
I’ve given this several months of reflection and processing, and still feel the need to say this after all this time. I was so excited to work with Shauna and J29 events; as soon as my best friend got excited and showed me her work, I thought it was a match made in heaven. Upon meeting Shauna, she was so nice, down to earth, and seemed to have a grip on the wedding planning business, I had no worries at all.. this is what you are looking for whilst planning, right? During our few encounters prior to the wedding, I expressed explicitly that I would be the one to come to with any issues or concerns. I took my MOH duties seriously. The minute the wedding weekend arrived, this immediately became a concern from my end. From the moment we arrived to the wedding venue, even on rehearsal day, there was instant negativity. As soon as we arrived, it felt as if we had resentment towards our entire group. Anytime I came to Shauna with questions or concerns I was met with attitude, disapproval, and just plain unkindness. This was frustrating for me because I was trying to keep things together, without involving the bride. The entire wedding day it seemed that Shauna was either unable to be found, or had an attitude when I asked her any question. To be honest it felt like high school mean girl drama. I understand weddings are stressful, however it is quite literally your job to handle stress, no matter the circumstances, so I was truly shocked, surprised, and so disappointed by her reactions the entire day. Never in my adult life have I felt so belittled for asking simple questions.
Despite this entire situation, the day carried on. And even though weather and other factors complicated the timeline, the team (specifically Liz, Sabrina, Nicole, and the ENTIRE WAITSTAFF TEAM) pulled off the impossible and still curated the most beautiful day for my best friend. That’s the thing.. I don’t want to detract from what she DID do. She did a lot. You all did. Shauna kept everyone on schedule and did run a tight ship. She discreetly orchestrated an entire breakdown of a reception from one location to another in the rain. She kept things running. None of that went unnoticed and I know both the bride and I are so thankful for the dedication and hardwork of J29 and all team members involved to make the day possible. I absolutely will give credit where credit is due because there was SO much going on. What I can’t get past is the simple lack of decency.. respect.. and human compassion that stemmed from the event leader (Shauna) and her bad attitude. All of those basic human principles were missing from the entire day - from the time we arrived at the venue to the time we left, all interactions with Shauna were negative, despite our best efforts and I’m just sad it had to be that way. My best friend (the bride) was under an incredible amount of stress and emotional pressure that day/weekend and instead of alleviating that stress, Shauna made it worse in so many ways. It should’ve been the opposite and its very disheartening that it had to come to this. All in all, the wedding truly was beautiful. But as far as behind the scenes, it was falling apart. I hope any bride going forward never has to deal with this and I hope that this was a learning experience for the entire team. -

Disorganized and unprofessional. I flew into Portland to meet with my planner Nicole and she sent me an e-mail 30 minutes prior to the meeting saying she was sick. This was after a series of missed e-mails and missed deadlines. I asked for my deposit back and the owner refunded me my deposit minus $225 for work done. Work done= a list of 6 venues and a design board. SIGH. Stay away if your wedding is important to you! -

We signed a contract with this company, and Nicole specifically, for "day of" planning which entitled us to get in contact with her 2 weeks out and get her help planning our wedding day. When the time came for communication to begin Nicole was nowhere to be found and ignored countless calls, emails, and texts from multiple people in our wedding, including my bride, for a week before calling back and acting like her totally ditching us until a few days before our wedding was no big deal. She did nothing for us- literally not one single thing. She showed up on Friday night for the rehearsal dinner in gym clothes and looked unprofessional and totally inappropriate for a wedding. On Saturday highlights of her behavior included stealing the golf cart of a random family that was also staying on the grounds, refusing to drive anyone in the wedding party anywhere despite being asked, and literally disappearing to who knows where to hide so she didn't have to do anything. She also left before the end of the wedding - hours and hours before- and really didn't even say goodbye. Her conduct, attitude, and overall performance was so bad that this company is now banned permanently from the venue, and every single other vendor we hired gave us a written statement confirming Nicole was the worst wedding planner they've ever worked with. We tried speaking to the owner of the company on several occasions and she promised to make it right but never got back to us and also refuses to call back the other vendors who asked to speak to her so they could confirm just how bad it was. We are actually now looking into having an attorney sue her because she basically stole close to $2,000 from us to send an inexperienced planner to our wedding to drive aimlessly around the grounds hiding from having to do any work. -
