Great experience!
I had a great experience working with Icon Bridal & Formal to find my wedding dress! I was the only customer in the store during my wedding dress appointment, and felt truly catered to the whole time. I had no idea what type of dress I wanted, and Theresa was great about choosing options & narrowing them down based on feedback I voiced once I tried them on. I never felt rushed or pressured into making any decisions, and left with 2 “top options” to think about. Once I chose my dress and it was delivered to the store, setting up an alteration appointment was easy - Connie (the owner!) & her team were flexible with working within my schedule. I also feel like Connie went the extra mile to make sure she communicated with me via phone & text throughout the process. Mariela & Connie did an amazing job at altering my dress, and were very patient throughout the whole process. I was SO happy with the end result, and continue to get compliments on my dress post-wedding (photos courtesy of Aimee Custis Photography). -

Icon was the first and only place I shopped for my wedding dress. They asked for some ideas of what I was interested in, and then suggested a few dresses to try. All the dresses they had were stunning, but what really made the experience wonderful was Ruth and Connie. Ruth was there for all of my appointments, and was so warm and kind to both me and my mom. She made the experience relaxing and fun, and I never felt pressured. Once I chose my dress, there were certain alterations I wanted to make (a more modest neckline, shortening the train, etc.) and Connie stepped in to turn a beautiful dress into one that was comfortable and exactly what I wanted. I highly recommend Icon Bridal if you're shopping for a wedding gown! -

I felt like a princess
I had the best experience here. When I went to try on dresses I didn't know what style I wanted but knew I wanted something with a hint of blush and Connie was so great at helping me find the dress. I live and got married on the other side of the country and so I needed a quick turn around of my final alternations (minimal because they were so great at helping me order the right size and length, no hemming required) and they delivered! I've been to so many weddings where the bride's bustle broke and my mom was able to bustle my dress in minutes it and lasted the whole night! We even asked for an extra button and hook just in case and didn't need it. The dress fit perfectly. Thank you Icon! -

I freaking LOVE my dress!! Every time I went in for a fitting, it just got better and better. It fit me perfectly and they made sure it was bustled to the perfect length so I could dance the night away!! The people are sweet, talented and super professional . I highly recommend !! -

iCON Bridal was the first wedding dress story I went to and it was an incredible experience! Theresa was so kind, accommodating, and helpful. Her advice and feedback was filled with the intention of helping me find my dream dress, and was never "sales-y" or pushy. She also really took a look at the survey I filled out prior to the appointment, which made me feel like she truly wanted to personalize the experience for me. The store had every style you could think of and I was able to try on multiple different dresses so that I could really learn what I wanted. Highly recommend iCON for any bride! -

Although I didn't purchase my dress from ICON, I did have my alterations done there. Connie and Elaina were so incredibly kind and helpful. My dress needed a lot of work. In the pictures online, it was a tea length gown. However, when it arrived, it was floor length. Tailoring each of the many, many layers involved in the skirt was not an easy process, but they did such a magnificent job. Also, they made me a matching face mask, completely free of charge. Theresa, Connie, and Elaina all take pride in their work, and it shows. Despite having to have two of my fittings take place during a pandemic, the ladies made me feel safe. I was the only bride in the shop, and everyone was asked to wear face masks. I'm so glad that I brought my dress to ICON. They knew exactly what I wanted, and were willing to go above and beyond to make it possible! -

Excellent bridal shop! Great selection and service!
This shop is nothing short of wonderful! They are now located in Rockville. They have a great dress selection for a relatively small shop. I picked a wedding dress that was beautiful but needed some altering to fit the vision I had and Connie and her team made it happen! I was helped by one of the assistants, Teresa, who was patient and offered some great suggestions until I was able to find the ONE. At my second appointment, I was graciously directed to Connie by one of the other front desk assistants. When I explained to Connie and the other seamstress the adjustments I wanted, they said it would be doable and made the process pleasant and seamless. The alterations involved adding fabric to the back of the dress and adding lace and beading as well as other alterations. They were very patient and made any additional changes I requested after the fittings started. They also steamed my veil that I had purchased from another store as a courtesy. They were understanding and flexible if I ever had to change an appointment time or was running a little late. Well, the dress came out BEAUTIFULLY and I got so many compliments from my guests! I have included some before photos of the dress both the sample (ivory color) and the actual dress (white color) before the alterations and after photos from the wedding. I am quite pleased and grateful for the excellent service and care I received by the team at Icon Bridal & Formal and I would highly recommend them! -

Connie and her staff are warm and welcoming. They are also patient, flexible, professional and kind. They did an amazing job with altering my dress. Connie and her staff listen to you and work with you to make sure you are happy with the end product. I absolutely loved working with Connie and her staff at Icon Bridal. From my very first visit (with 6 people in toe) they were lovely and accommodating. They let us take pictures and made it feel like a party! The boutique is on the smaller side, but there is more than enough room and seating, and I liked that the space felt more intimate. I tried on about 10 dresses during my appointment, including many designers and styles I had been stalking online. It took about 9 months for my dress to come in after I placed the order, but that is par for the course with unique couture gowns (this is why it pays to do things early). Once it arrived, I had 3 fittings within a two-month period. Connie worked with my schedule and her attention to detail paid off. The dress of my dreams fit perfectly and I had a blast wearing it on the big day. Working with Icon Bridal was a major highlight of the wedding planning process and I highly recommend them! -

Melanie Sent on 01/05/2017I found this place because I was looking to go somewhere near my gym at the last minute. I was so happy that when I called and they told me to come in. Everywhere else I called didn't have appointments available for a few days. The funny thing is, they were actually busy and I've always seen people there, but they didn't turn me away. I'm very grateful because Theresa was a great help in me finding the dress of my dreams. It happened to be off the rack and on clearance as well, but all of their gowns were beautiful and at better prices than I had seen previously. Connie has done a fabulous job altering the dress. She is super friendly and very skilled. I'm so happy with them and can't wait to be married next week in this gown! -

It's hard to find a dress under $1000 in Montgomery county that isnt used. I was able to find one in my budget and LOVED it from day one Connie is in high demand, so there were days I had to wait at the shop, but at the end the dress fit amazing and I felt amazing in it. -

Pros: the wedding dress was lovely, elegant, affordable and matched my vision. They have a good selection and very reasonable pricing.
Cons: Communication and attention to detail leave quite a bit to be desired. My impression is that this is not a high-end operation, but rather is run and approached as a mom-and-pop shop.
Things were mostly fine until my last fitting, 3 days before the wedding. I arrived a few minutes early for my appointment. There was another bride in the store trying on a dress and discussing alterations with the staff. I proceeded to wait at least 10 minutes past the appointment time until Connie, who had been working on the alterations for my dress, came over to tell me she "didn't realize she had more work to do" on the other bride's dress and that my dress was not ready (what?!), but that I should "go have dinner or something" and come back (they close at 6:00, so...early/quick dinner? also, what?!?). Since they had already cancelled my previous appointment for this last fitting, the previous Friday (calling me to tell me my veil had not arrived yet and that it would make no sense to try the dress on without the veil, so I should reschedule - which I realized was a complete lie, since my dress was still not ready, despite 5 days having elapsed from that cancelled appointment, so clearly they weren't ready with the dress and pretended the veil had not arrived to convince me to reschedule. What had they done if I had decided to try the dress on without the veil? Mind you, they called me the same day to cancel my appointment for that afternoon, so...yeah), and I only had a few days left until my wedding, I was understandably and visibly irritated. Connie then proceeded to tell me "oh, why are you in such a rush, your wedding isn't this weekend, is it?" Uhm...HELLO, it's this Saturday, aka in 2 days - which we had discussed numerous times and I'm pretty sure was on their calendar, but apparently it slipped her mind. I reminded her, and she said to give her 20 minutes and she'd have my dress ready. I ran another errand and came back 40 minutes later, at which point I tried the dress, which still needed alterations. She said she could get them done in 20 minutes. I explained my fiancee was waiting for me in the car and that I had already kept him waiting - throughout the whole process, they seemed either not concerned that I was inconveniencing other people, or slightly incredulous that I was on a tight schedule. An hour later, the dress was still not ready, but when I said I had to leave, it was magically done. It was still not perfect, but at that point, I really wanted to leave. They then told me they were closed the next day (Thursday), so the earliest I could pick my dress up was on Friday (the day before my wedding), but they reminded me that they closed at 6:00 PM. I couldn't make it by 6:00 PM (have a myriad of last-minute things to attend to on the day before the wedding, surprise-surprise!), so they said I could pick it up a little later. Gee, thanks for the flexibility, when I waited hours for work that should've been done way earlier.
Bottom line: they have a varied and affordable offer, in terms of dresses, but you lose what you save in time, effort and annoyance. Save yourself the aggravation and go with a more upscale and established store. The extra cost will be worth it in terms of peace of mind, professionalism and competent customer service. -

My wedding is on November 18 in the Dominican Republic and I will be leaving on November 14 to head out there. I purchased a wedding dress on Saturday June 23 from Icon Bridal and Formal in Darnestown, MD. After talking the sales representatives and trying on several gowns, I decided to say yes to the dress to an Allure gown. The sample gown was a size 12 and was about 2 inches too small in the back as the buttons would not close (I have pictures that be requested as proof). Before making the purchase, I checked with the bridal reps regarding shipment dates. These individuals (Rita and one other rep) were not sure whether my dress would get here in time and made a call to Connie, the store owner and manager. Connie confirmed that my dress would arrive at a minimum of 4 weeks prior to my departure date which would give me ample time to go through several alterations. The representatives indicated they would provide my shipment date once I completed the transaction. I paid for the dress which was over $2,400. While reading over my invoice, I pointed out to the representative that my shipment date was not on my invoice. The representative then told me that I would have to call Connie Monday morning to receive shipment dates which sounded quite odd to me. Needless to say, the transaction had already went through.
On Monday, I called Connie at least 4 times throughout the day. I informed her I was concerned because her representatives did not provide shipment dates. She proceeds to request that I come in to try on the sample again so she can see how much room I need because she could potentially let the dress out so that it fits. I was completely against this option as I was not interested in purchasing a dress that is too small. On Wednesday, June 27, 4 days after I purchased and tried on the dress I went back to Icon Bridal to discuss options with the owner.
When I tried on the sample dress....oh my goodness it fit, which was odd because I had been eating ribs, delicious bread from Coastal Flats, margaritas and other food items that would not lead to significant weight loss over a 4 days period. In fact I gained weight over those 4 days. Connie proceeds to tell me that I lost a lot of weight and should stick to the sample dress and that " I would only need to lose 1-2 inches in my mid-sections and the dress will fit better and less tight". And then it dawned on me, she must have let the dress out before I came in because 2 inches did not magically disappear from my upper torso area. This infuriated me because she was being extremely manipulative and was willing to have me take a gown that she altered, pretend it was not altered. So if I were to gain weight before my wedding I would have no recourse because she had secretly altered the dress already to keep her sale. She did all of this because the dress they told me I could order would not be in on time and she did not want to lose the business.
On Thursday 6/28, I called Connie, because she still, while at the store on Wednesday, said she didn't have the shipment date for the order. She called me back Wednesday afternoon and left a voicemail. The voicemail says " Your shipment date is not until October 26".....which means I would not receive my dress until the last few days of October or the first week of November. When I called her back, she confirms that the October 26 shipment date is correct. I informed her that she is in breach of contract because upon transaction, we agreed I would receive my dress at a minimum of 4 full weeks (30 days) prior to my departure date. While on the phone, she proceeds to pretend as if she did not know it was "Sherresa" she was speaking to and says she had a different brides paperwork and indeed my dress would be here.
At this point, I had enough with the shenanigans. This is one of the most important days of my life and I was not willing to continue doing business with someone who seems to be trying to ruin my wedding. I requested a refund due to her breach of contract and misrepresentation of information to obtain a sale. Connie indicates she can't refund my money. I asked her several times for my money because I do not want to do business with a crook, do not want the stress that I know she will bring, and because she completely breached our agreement.
Luckily, I have a great credit union who stood up for me and was able to get my money back (it took over 3 months) and Connie is at a loss....
If you are considering doing business with Icon Bridal, you should definitely reconsider. Do your research first. You should definitely do a Maryland business license search. When I was preparing to sue Connie, I did some investigating and found on the Maryland business license search that Connie and Icon Bridal were 2 years behind on filing taxes.....Think if that is someone you want to give your business to.
