Wedding rehearsal dinner

High Cotton Barbeque was the perfect caterer for our son and daughter-in-law’s wedding rehearsal dinner. They were quick to respond to questions and offered suggestions to help the event go smoothly. They were professional from start to finish and the food was delicious! I would use them again in a heartbeat!

Amazing experience from start to finish

We chose High Cotton based on reviews from other vendors and people who have travelled here. I was a bit nervous choosing food for my wedding without having tried it. Rehearsal dinner experience

Absolutely amazing, Sherry and Chad were beyond easy to deal with. A destination wedding is hard enough, but the expertise of high cotton BBQ made our experience delightful. We would highly recommend them for any celebratory occasion.

Absolutely Delicious

My daughter and her fiancé were planning a destination wedding and were not familiar with the caterers in the Outer Banks area. After reading numerous reviews, we selected High Cotton BBQ. They were an excellent choice and did not disappoint. Our heartfelt thanks to Sherry, Bob, and the entire catering staff at High Cotton BBQ for an unforgettable and memorable evening of fabulous food and service. From the start, the staff was responsive to everything we requested for our daughter’s wedding reception. Bob did a superb job of delivering and setting up the food. He demonstrated quality service and was extremely friendly and polite. The presentation of food was appealing to our guests. There are not enough words to describe the food. It was absolutely phenomenal. We received comments all evening from the guests. They could not stop raving about the awesome food. They especially enjoyed the BBQ sauce! There was no one favorite menu item because they enjoyed all of it. Thanks again to the entire staff for everything you did to make the reception a wonderful success. If you are looking for a superb caterer, look no further than High Cotton BBQ. They are a first class caterer. Guaranteed they will create a delicious menu your guests won’t soon forget.

Trouble free reception food

I've been eating at High Cotton BBQ for a few years so when my then bride to be suggested that we use their catering for the reception I was all in.
We went with the delivery and set up since we had a reasonably small event.
Since we were tied up with the ceremony when the food was delivered we had someone there to let the delivery person know where to set up. She told us what a joy it was to work with him and how smoothly it all went.
Everyone that attended later commented on wonderful everything was. We even had some non meat eaters in the group that raved about all the sides we choose to have.
If you are looking to have remarkable food at your wedding reception I would whole heartedly recommend you consider High Cotton.
I know you will not be disappointed in the least.

You'll want more!!

Best food we ate all week! High cotton has a package that can serve any guest count. With High Cotton you get quantity and quality! We didn't have catering, however the staff was more than generous to accommodate us with tin pans, utensils, paper goods, tons of sauce, and more! They helped my mom load up in her car so she could bring the food to our reception on the Crystal Dawn Headboat in Manteo. The food was still hot! PERFECT for the occasion and a must have everytime we're in the area. Thank you High Cotton for your excellent service!

Great, excellent, delicious

High Cotton was a wonderful caterer for our daughter's rehearsal dinner. They were right on time, servers were polite and very helpful. The food was absolutely delicious. I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking to cater a BBQ and I will call upon them again if I host another event.

Food was amazing and Service was perfect

I would highly recommend High Cotton to anyone looking to cater any type of event or to just eat a meal at their restaurant. We planned an OBX wedding from out of town and Sherry was so helpful in the process with making sure the menu was exactly what we needed. We stopped by for lunch on vacation a month before the wedding which did nothing but guarantee we made the right choice. Food was great, everyone we interacted with had great customer service and Sherry even made sure she was there to meet us that day to make sure we had everything straight for the wedding. Highly recommend to anyone!! We love High Cotton and it will become a new staple for lunch/dinner on our vacations in the future.

The best caterer, hands down

Omg! Where do I even begin! They were beyond amazing and the woman who my husband, Casey, worked with was an absolute sweetheart. They were honest about what we did and didn’t need, were extremely affordable, they were beyond friendly, responsive, and just all around AWESOME. The food was amazing too!!! I’m still craving the pulled pork sandwich and Mac n cheese!!! Everyone complimented the service and food all night. People are still talking about how delicious everything was, lol!!! I’m so happy we chose High Cotton ❤️

Best brisket on the beach!

We were planning a laid back wedding on the beach in Corolla, and had to have Carolina style barbecue for the reception. Thru word of mouth, we came across High Cotton. Sherry was so easy to work with! She made suggestions for items and servings. We chose a menu of pulled pork, pulled chicken and brisket, with all the sides. All of it was fantastic, but the brisket was outstanding! They delivered to the rental house, set up, and the food was hot and ready to go as soon as all the guests came in from the photo shoot on the beach. It could not get any easier! We had leftovers for a few days, which made for easy lunches. We loved their sauces so much that as soon as we got back home, I contacted Sherry and was able to order bottles of sauce for our own smoked pig creations. I would highly recommend High Cotton for your OBX wedding.

Absolutely Delicious and Professional

When you think of BBQ and a roasted pig, you don’t exactly think high class, but High Cotton were as classy as you could get! They provided delicious food and the attendants were very accommodating to my guests: giving them certain pieces of the pig and also bussing tables. People could not stop talking about the Mac and cheese! Very delicious and I’m thankful for their professionalism.

Food for days! EVERYTHING was delicious, delivered on time, easy to order, easy to pay... Pulled pork and brisket sandwiches for everyone to take on their drive home the next day was the best. I didn't need to sweat over the small stuff and glad I hired a competent team to prepare and deliver our wedding dinner. We ordered for 35 people and it was a ton of delicious food to warm and enjoy for the next couple of days for the small group left over from the wedding. Do get the brisket, its well worth it!

We hired High Cotton BBQ to cater our beach wedding. Sherry was so great to work with, she was responsive, extremely polite and very helpful! They handled all of the set-up and clean-up, it was so great not to have to think about any of that stuff. The food was delicious, and the Mac-n-Cheese was out of this world!!! Beautiful experience for our families. We could only correspond by phone and email, couldn't taste test because we live a good distance from the Outer Banks. My sons wedding included 28 people originally, but we ended up with 3/. I was concerned about having enough for everyone, but actually had enough left overs to feed those people lunch the next day. Delishious!!!!!

High cotton was beyond wonderful. At our tasting the owner sat down with us and chatted about North Carolina and gave advice on where to go fishing in OBX. We left with extra chicken and cole slaw because it was our favorite :) by the time the wedding rolled around Sherry had communicated the plan to us and was very on top of things. The food arrived at the perfect time and the extras were even put in the oven on low to keep warm. We had plenty of food and the price was more reasonable than anywhere else. I really couldn't have asked for a better experience.

High Cotton BBQ catered for our wedding and they were a hit. Sherry, the catering manager, was great to work with. She was very responsive and helpful every step of the way. Our family members commented on how polite and helpful the catering staff was throughout the entire event. We had a lot of food left over because our guest list changed close to the event but their catering team packaged everything up and left all of the extra food there for us to keep. All night our guests kept telling us how great the food was. We would recommend High Cotton BBQ for any event and we are looking forward to stopping into their restaurant the next time we’re down in the Outer Banks.

We looked at a number of caterers in the Outer Banks who could provide us a Carolina-style BBQ buffet for our wedding and High Cotton BBQ is by far the best there is. Sherry was so friendly and great to work with, and very responsive to our questions and concerns. She let us customize the menu to provide the exact items we wanted. The price per person was less than any other place we looked at, and the cost included a number of extras that other places charged more for. The staff that worked our event were very friendly and professional, and stayed as long as we needed them, cleaning everything up before they left including the leftovers. But most importantly, the food was delicious! Our guests could not stop talking about how great the food was, and we enjoyed the leftovers for days afterward. I would highly recommend High Cotton BBQ for your Outer Banks wedding!

High Cotton BBQ catered my daughter's wedding reception at Corolla this past week. We had BBQ and the "fixings" for approximately 50 people. Not only is High Cotton BBQ wonderful to work with, the food is just as amazing! I was a little hesitant to go with a BBQ company that I hadn't tried before, but High Cotton came with great reviews. After speaking with Sherry - who was so incredibly patient with me, since I was traveling for work and not the easiest to access at first, she made sure she secured my date. Sherry answered all my questions, she was always available, and always honest. They were super kind to my mom who called with questions of her own. They are extremely flexible and will make your day perfect. Will called me the day of to confirm everything, and her staff that came to serve were incredible! They are a great company to work with, we had rave reviews on the food the day of our wedding, and people are still talking about how great it was! Also, they do not skimp - you will have a ton of food, the serving sizes are huge (definitely getting your money's worth)! I recommend High Cotton for any event, they definitely contributed to making our already perfect wedding day even more perfect!

We have loved and enjoyed High Cotton for years during our family vacations to the Outer Banks. They were at the top of our list when it came to choosing a caterer for our son's wedding rehearsal dinner. From the moment I reached out to them regarding our event, Sherry was extremely responsive, professional, courteous and flexible. Big Tom and Little Tom, our catering team for the night of our dinner, were outstanding! They were prompt, courteous, respectful, hardworking, friendly...I could go on and on. As always, the food was delicious!! The pulled pork and barbecued chicken were amazing, the sides were delicious...the potato salad was literally the best I've ever had! We ordered several varieties of chess pie for dessert and each was perfectly prepared and yummy. A side note, we had a few vegetarians attending our dinner, so I personally prepared a small meal for them myself. Big Tom politely and tactfully informed me that High Cotton also offers vegetarian options...something to keep in mind for future events. It never crossed my mind that a BBQ restaurant would offer vegetarian options, so I never mentioned it during the planning process, but of course if any would, it would surely be High Cotton!! They are just truly the best and I am so thankful that we chose High Cotton for one of our most important family events!!

We had High Cotton BBQ cater our wedding and the food was delicious. The team that came out was very helpful with the set-up and letting us know about what we ordered. Sherry was very nice and helpful with setting up our menu. The BBQ Brisket, ribs, chicken, and pulled pork are some of the best that I have had. The macaroni and cheese and baked beans are so yummy I recommend doubling your order... they went fast... All our guest commented on how good the dinner was. I recommend the catering service to anyone having an event on OBX.

I wish I could give High Cotton a 10 out of 5 stars!! Sherry and her team at High Cotton are absolutely amazing to work with- they were by far my favorite vendor of our entire wedding. Everyone raved about the food, and the service was THE best. It was made so easy for us- we did the set up only catering. The team was in and out in about 15-20 minutes and everyone could start eating. Also, Sherry is extremely responsive through email, more responsive than any of my other vendors (usually responds in 1 day at the very latest).

I would recommend High Cotton to every single person I know. We had such an amazing experience with them!! Would choose them again and again.

Sherry was a lifesaver. I was planning the rehearsal dinner from another state, my husband had recently passed away, and I needed someone to help me through the decisions. Sherry did all that and more. She was so kind and helpful and stayed on top of things for me. We used most of her suggestions, and I'm so glad we did. The event was a huge success, with everyone staying much later than we expected. People came back and back all night for more BBQ and sides. There was so much pleasure in being with each other around such good food, and it was an all-around happy and fun event. Very relaxing--which we needed before the big event the next day.
The BBQ was so tender and tasty, and all the sides were flavorful and really good. The servers were behind-the-scenes efficient and kept everything running smoothly. I recently watched Michael Pollan's "Cooked" where he contends that the best BBQ ever is in Eastern North Carolina. Specifically, it's at High Cotton!

The day after our wedding was my husbands birthday which we had it catered from High Cotton- let me tell you everything was beyond our expectations! We will definitely be returning customers. Everyone was so helpful and extremely friendly. Food was suppose to be for 60 guests lets just say we had no food left over since it was that good. And cost wise was very reasonable! We had a wonderful experience with High Cotton BBQ! We are out-of-towners and needed to do everything over email leading up to our big day. Sherry was always responsive, answering any and all questions I had. I felt an immediate connection. Sherry made me feel like her most important client even though I knew very well that she had other weddings going on. We did whole hog, smoked chicken and brisket plus multiple sides. There was a moment when I was obviously ordering too much and Sherry let me know that I probably did not need that extra side. We also bought bottles of their sauce to put in the gift bags for our guests...everyone was an out of towner so we had a lot! Everything was perfect day of...we had rented a house on the beach and had an outdoor reception. Set up was perfect, everyone was thrilled by the whole hog...it was just really fun! Exactly what we wanted. We rented plates and glassware and they were happy to serve on those instead of paper. We had a ton of leftovers (except the mac and cheese of course) and were able to have a full dinner with some of our house guests the last night we were in town. My father even took some pulled pork back to Maryland, froze it and served it at Christmas! If you are looking for authentic NC BBQ and a fun and exciting way to feed your guests, I highly recommend going with High Cotton. Wonderful people! One of the best decisions we made!

High praise for High Cotton! Our daughter and son-in-law had a beautiful beach wedding in Duck in August, 2015. When planning the wedding they knew they wanted "southern b-b-q" for the reception. The first and only restaurant we considered was High Cotton. We had eaten their food before for small gatherings and had no doubts they would provide the same quality food for a larger group. They delivered to our rental house and we enjoyed a relaxing evening with our guests. Everyone raved about the food, every morsel was delicious! (Finger-Licking' good actually!!!) And making arrangements was effortless thanks to Sherry!! We highly recommend High Cotton if you truly want a delightful and delicious experience!!

I highly recommend High Cotton BBQ! We had them cater our rehearsal dinner of around 90 people. Working with Will and Sherry was a breeze from the first contact and tasting to the final menu and dinner. Our son, the groom, is a chef so his (and our) palates are quite discriminating. Everyone throughly enjoyed the food! It was so good that a few of our guests asked for, and received, recipes for their amazing BBQ and sides. Don't miss the beef brisket!

We had our wedding in the 4X4 area at the Hemingway on 10/2/2015. On the Memorial Day weekend prior, we met with Sherry (catering manager) to sample the menu in a very casual, friendly atmosphere where we were able to make our choices wisely. They even offered for our cake lady to drop off our cupcakes at High Cotton so everything could come up at the same time. The day of our event, we were right in the middle of Joaquin and major coastal flooding. We were extemely doubtful that any vendor would be able to make it up the 4X4 area with such a short window for drive time. High Cotton was in constant contact with us and assured us there would be no problems. Since we had to have everything inside the house, the staff quietly snuck in and set up everything. We did not even have to worry or think twice about High Cotton pulling through for us. The staff, service and food was all excellent--definitely deserving of a 5 star rating!

We planned our entire wedding based off of word of mouth and reviews. We live in California, so planning a wedding all the way in OBX was no easy task. We were so lucky to have found High Cotton BBQ right away (and we were fortunate enough to be able to go in for lunch a few months before the wedding... and we weren't disappointed). Everyone at High Cotton was so incredibly helpful and kind. They made the catering part of our wedding a breeze. Not only was the food very reasonably priced, it was absolutely delicious. Seriously, we had never had BBQ that good. All of our wedding guests STILL talk about how good the food was. We've all been to our fair share of weddings, so we know the food at weddings isn't always something to talk about. Unless, of course, you bring in High Cotton BBQ! We will definitely be coming back for lunch or dinner when we make it back to OBX.

We were so thrilled with high cotton BBQ! All the guest raved about the food! Sherri was so wonderful to work with! We are from PA so she helped keep me at ease with the long distance. She not only assisted me with all of the catering options, she gave me suggestions for salons, rental company's etc. She went above and beyond! Will and Sherry are simply wonderful people. They are locals that care about their community and providing an excellent service. You feel like you've known them for years. We wanted a menu that would not be forgotten at our wedding, and that's exactly what we got. We got a whole hog (with the head), smoked chicken, and all the fixin's to go with it. Do not think twice about the mac-n-cheese, ORDER DOUBLE! Their food is stick to your ribs, finger lickin' good. Our wedding guests were so excited when the pig arrived and was set up. Nothing but smiles and full happy tummies at our wedding (and we had tons of leftovers!). The price is right and significantly cheaper than if you do a plated wedding meal. Can't go wrong with this place - they delivered on all of our expectations - price, responsiveness, professionalism, punctual delivery, and most importantly taste. Don't think twice - book them now!

My fiance and I ate here while we were in town visiting venues, and quickly decided that we wanted to use them for our rehearsal dinner across the street at the Hilton Garden Inn. Their food was some of the best BBQ I've ever had, and they immediately provided us detailed information about their catering options when we asked. They even have gluten free options, which is important to us since my mom can only eat gluten free. So far we're very impressed, and can't wait to use them for our rehearsal dinner!

Every time we go to the Outer Banks, High Cotton is on our list of must stops. They catered our rehearsal dinner and were very flexible with our needs! We were able to accomplish the impossible of having a whole roasted pig in the 4x4 area. The food is epic.

High Cotton was simply.... phenomenal! Since our affair was small and casual, we wanted a meal to reflect that. High Cotton delivered in every way. We ordered a variety of BBQ and am not exaggerating when I say that after the leftovers were warmed the following day, not a bite remained! Awesome food and amazing staff! We fell in love with the BBQ during a wedding planning trip to Kitty Hawk. We were looking for a place to hold a get together the night before our wedding and couldn’t have found a better place than High Cotton. Most of our guests were staying at the Hilton Garden Inn so they could easily walk over. Everyone at High Cotton was amazing to work with and the food was DELICIOUS, as always. The owner even made a beer run for us during the event when he noticed we were running low! All of our guests loved the food and atmosphere. Our family was officially hooked on the BBQ as well and kept going throughout the rest of the week after our wedding! We brought sauces home with us and we are quickly running through them!

We had High Cotton cater our wedding reception in an event home. Before deciding on a caterer we stopped in and they comped our meal so we could try their food. We didn't have to try any other places as High Cotton was delicious. They were great about responding to e-mails which was huge as we are from out of state trying to plan an event. We added and changed things a few times with no issues. The day of the event they delivered and set-up everything we needed and the meal was a huge hit. We stopped in to see them a few days after the event and they were so genuinely appreciative of our compliments. We visit OBX as often as possible and High Cotton is always on the list for places to eat.

High cotton BBQ was where we had our rehearsal dinner. They were AWESOME! First of all, we had about 80 people and they let us rent out the whole restaurant. They supplied coolers and let us bring in our own beer, which saves SO much money! They had a sound system and all I had to bring was my ipod and they connected it. All we had to pay for was the food. The food itself was honestly the BEST BBQ I have ever had in my life. EVERY single thing we ate was delicious, the sauce itself was amazing. The food at our rehearsal dinner was more talked about then our wedding food! And most important, the people at High Cotton were great. They were friendly, reliable and they went above and beyond in everything that they did. They truly made our rehearsal dinner fantatic and their food is HIGHLY reccomended for any occassion!!

We worked with High Cotton for our catered rehearsal dinner at the Hampton Inn and it was a huge hit! We had the full service catering with set up, buffet service, and tear down. It was well-worth the few dollars extra per person for the extra help. And, the barbecue was amazing. We had the Carolina pulled pork, southern style ribs, and smoked chicken with traditional sides. The banana pudding was an excellent add-on, and everyone had seconds and thirds of all the food. Great service, great price, and the best barbecue on the beach, for sure!

OUR SONS WEDDING ON THE OUTER BANKS PRESENTED SO MANY PROBLEMS OF VERY DIFFERENT TYPES ITS HARD TO REMEMBER THEM ALL. HOWEVER, HIGH COTTON BBQ WAS PERFECT. NOT ONE, NOT ONE ISSUE OR PROBLEM. We used High Cotton BBQ for our rehearsal dinner. They were very easy to work with, very affordable, and DELICIOUS!! We opted to have it at our rental house and they dropped everything off and set it all up. Only complaint was that they showed up an hour earlier than expected, but we were able to keep everything hot in the ovens until it was time to eat. Our menu included: Smoked Chicken, St. Louis Cut Ribs, Baked Beans, Chopped Slaw, Cornbread, Sandwich Rolls, Macaroni and Cheese. EVERYTHING was delicious and we had a ton of leftovers, which were gone within a couple of days. We ended up buying a few bottles of their BBQ sauce to bring home with us. I would highly recommend using them for catering. We will visit this restaurant every time we visit the Outer Banks for sure!

High Cotton had great reviews when I was looking into them, both on here and on theknot. However, for my wedding a LOT of things were forgotten and overlooked. We asked for fruit trays and veggie trays for our cocktail hour (nothing fancy) and I found out a few days later they were never served!! Of course as the bride I had no idea at the time because we were off taking pictures. So my guests had nothing to eat during cocktail hour. This was embarrassing to me that my guests were sitting there with nothing to eat. Also, we had 2 vegetarian guests so we had asked for 2 vegetarian meals for the reception. Those were never brought either! So my vegetarian guests either didn't eat or were limited to cole slaw and mac and cheese. Oh also a day after the wedding we went in the fridge and found an entire tray of corn bread that had never been put out at the actual reception!! (Again, didn't realize it at the time).

The bartender we paid $150 was nice, but didn't even know how to make a malibu bay breeze. Our friend who is a bartender was telling her how to make drinks. Kind of annoying, to say the least. I also thought we would have 2 servers but we had 1 who didn't actually "serve' or spoon out any food to us. He kind of just stood there and looked like he was about 14 years old. I was honestly, overall really disappointed in High Cotton. It felt like my wedding got forgotten or wasn't important enough for someone to get the details right. When we brought up these issues with them, they offered to refund us $100. Wow, $100 even though we paid about $15 extra per person to have full service catering and didn't receive that.

Lori the lady who manages the catering was really nice in person and responsive in email, but someone dropped the ball for my wedding. Maybe it was a one-time fluke but that shouldn't happen, especially for someone's wedding.
