Delicious & Beautiful Cake, Fantastic Value

We were thrilled with how well the cake turned out on both flavor and appearance especially considering the great value compared to other wedding cakes - Ed and Beth were so easy to work with, responsive and flexible. They were also so accommodating with the two pandemic date changes, and that made our lives so much easier.

So delicious and beautiful!

We tried out a lot of bakeries when searching for our wedding cake, and Ed's was by far the best. As soon as we tasted his cake, we knew it was the one. Ed and Beth were wonderful to work with, and he delivered exactly the cake we asked for. We took a huge piece with us on our honeymoon to make sure we got our fill!

Beth was very responsive over email, and even helped me arrange a donut surprise for my husband the morning of the wedding. Ed was truly a pleasure to work with, and gave us a lot of good information on cake sizes and techniques for achieving the look we wanted.

We are very partial to the peanut butter icing, and chocolate cake, but you can’t go wrong with anything Ed and Beth sell from the cupcakes to the cookies to the donuts to the meats. It is all absolutely perfect. We will be happily making the drive from Columbia for more of their goodies!

Absolutely Amazing!

We had a small display cake and a sheet cake in the back from Ed's for our wedding. It was absolutely amazing and we had so many guests compliment the cake! For the initial tasting we had cupcakes which were great but I was a little worried they weren't moist (sorry I know everyone hates that word lol!) enough. However the cake itself was absolutely perfect!! HIGHLY recommend the Italian Buttercream Frosting.

We had our cake done by Ed's Country Bakery and it was SO DELICIOUS! We did lemon cake and we got compliments from lots of our guests that it was amazing! The frosting is perfect - not too sugary. Ed was nice and was fast at answering our emails. And the price was reasonable too! Overall, I recommend this place to anyone for their wedding.

Ed has been making cakes for my family since the early 2000s! He made my 16th, 18th, 19th, and 21st Birthday cakes, so I of course had to have him make my Wedding cake! The price is great and I sent a few designs over of what we wanted and he gave us exactly that. The cake was not meant to be served to guests, as we had a large cookie and smores bar, but it was on accident and it was devoured! We had a Lemon and Chocolate 2-tiered cake with Italian Buttercream icing. Everyone loved it and asked for more!

We had a great tasting with them before we booked and they created just what we wanted. They were prompt with their set up on the wedding day and the cake was delicious! We've gone back to their bakery several times since booking to enjoy their treats!

Ed's Country Bakery was perfect for our wedding needs! I decided to not do a large cake and wanted a simple one tier on display and sheet cake in the back to be served to guests. It came exactly how I had pictured and requested... and not to mention.. the taste was incredible! We asked for a white cake with strawberry filling and white buttercream... soooo good!

I love supporting small businesses and felt more comfortable going with Ed's then a grocery store or overpriced bakery. They are the perfect small town bakery to meet your needs and have plenty of cake flavors and fillings to meet your needs! They are also on the recommended list for Strong Mansion vendors - how we found them.

Ed was a great choice for our cupcakes! He was prompt in all communications leading up to the big day. His delivery was seamless and his cupcakes are delicious! Highly recommend!

Ed's Bakery provided the wedding cake for our June wedding. Ed made the cake tasting process very easy and he was very responsive to emails. In addition, the cake was beautiful and the most delicious wedding cake I have ever tasted. The price is also very reasonable. We went with lemon cake, raspberry filling, and Italian frosting. Our guests loved it! Highly recommended!

I can't say enough good things about Ed. The pricing was about half of what I received from other bakeries; I was so annoyed that other vendors would charge you per person (as much as $5!) whereas Ed would recommend the size of cake for your guest count and charge you by the cake instead. My husband wasn't super pumped about the cake tasting (he doesn't have a sweet tooth like me!) but as soon as we took our first bite of Ed's cakes, he was in heaven. Everything was super seamless leading up to the wedding, and our cake looked and tasted delicious on our wedding day. Our guests are still raving about how good the cake is, and some of my guests have sheepishly admitted they waved down our waitstaff to get second (and third!) helpings because it was so good.

I found Ed's Country Bakery through a friend and made an appointment for a tasting. I am very picky when it comes to icing, but I loved the taste of the cake and icing Ed made! My husband and I decided on a marble cake and vanilla buttercream frosting. It was moist and sweet, but not too sweet. Ed was very professional and easy to work with. His prices were reasonable and they were able to deliver the cake to my venue. The day of the wedding, I got so many compliments on how wonderful the cake was, thank you again Ed's Country Bakery!

By the time we had our appointment here, we had experienced three other tasting and they are "well know bakeries". None was making me want to whip out the checkbook, I guess it didn't help that I'm a picky foodie. Immediately after my tasting I knew Ed was the guy for my wedding. We sampled several cake flavors and icings and I knew exactly what I wanted. Moist and flavorful is how I would describe each bite. Well on August 29, 2015 the cake was delivered as designed and tasted uuuuummmm DELICIOUS!!!!

Before your testing, you get to choose a couple different cake flavors, and Ed has traditional and butter cream frosting for you to try with each cake. He gives you full-size cupcakes of each pairing, so come prepared to eat a lot of cake!
FH and I taste tested almond, chocolate, and carrot cake, but settled on the almond cake with the traditional butter cream. It has so much flavor, and is unlike any cake I've had before. To make sure we covered our bases, we had a tasting with another vendor in the area, who had seemingly won every award in the cake baking world. Ed's cakes were far superior to the other vendor (and much cheaper too!) There definitely won't be any cake left on the guest's plates at our wedding!

Ed's Country Bakery provided us with great service during our consultation for our wedding cake! Ed guided us through the process to make sure we chose the cake and design that best represented us. The cake turned out so beautiful and was absolutely delicious! All of our guests LOVED the cake and also loved that it was from a local bakery made with fresh ingredients. I will be ordering birthday, anniversary, etc, cakes/baked goods from here from now on!

Ed’s Bakery was exactly what we wanted for our wedding! We met Ed one summer afternoon at his family oriented bakery. We ordered and tasted cupcakes, and they were delicious! We set up our order right away! Not only did Ed bake, decorate, deliver, and set-up the cupcakes, but he even let us use our own cupcake stand which we decided to purchase. Our guests loved the cupcakes and raved about how delicious they were. Ed’s Bakery was great, and didn’t break the bank!

I ordered about 8 dozen cupcakes and a 6" round cake from Ed for my wedding. I was impressed by the variety of flavors that they had (frosting and cake). I wasn't able to taste any of the cupcakes but the guests loved them. My husband and I got the lemon cake with strawberry filling for our round cake and it was delicious! The price was pretty good compared to all the other bakeries, and support the local bakery!

We used Ed’s Bakery for our wedding cake for our November 2013 wedding. It was delicious and decorated beautifully, and we received many compliments from our guests. We described what we wanted and Ed provided a cake within our budget. We loved using this family run “old fashioned” business.

My daughter was married on November 30, 2013 at Musket Ridge. She did not want a traditional wedding cake. We discussed our desire with Ed and he provided us with two kinds of cheesecakes (pumpkin and chocolate chip) in miniature cupcake size. They were very tasty. He also provided us with a cupcake stand that made the presentation a bit more fancy.

Thanks for contributing to a wonderful day. I would highly recommend using Ed's Country Bakery!

What a total gem of a bakery!

I planned our wedding long distance, and Ed worked with me over e-mail to come up with the most perfect cake. I sent him pictures of what I wanted and he nailed it exactly. My family went to meet him and taste flavors prior to the wedding, and he prepared four cupcakes in each flavor combination for them to test out (tasting is not free, but at $6 for four cupcakes in a given flavor and considering how low the prices are overall, this place is a bargain).
And the cake itself, well, what else can I say except that it was the best wedding cake I've ever tasted! It did not cost extra to have different cake/filling flavors in the different tiers, so we were able to serve a variety of delicious types of cake. I am already sad that we're out of leftovers and am looking forward to digging in to that top layer next October...

The cake is beyond delicious, the prices are super reasonable, and the designs are lovely. Highly recommend Ed's Country Bakery!!!

We searched high and low for a good local pie baker, since we were having wedding pie instead of cake, and were so thrilled when we found Ed's Country Bakery. We ordered Cherry, Raspberry, Lemon Meringue, Chocolate Cream and Apple pies, and so many of our guests commented on how delicious they all were! Ed was so easy to work with, and we could not be happier.

We decided to go with pies for our wedding and foudn Ed's Country Bakery. They were amazing. They made us 28 pies and everyone we talked to loved them. We had pumpkin, peanut butter, chocolate cream, and apple. We personally ate pumpkin and peanut butter and they tasted great. They are so good that we are making sure we go back once a month for a pie. The peanut butter pie is amazing.

My husband and I loved our wedding cake. Since we had a July wedding, we chose a lighter cake--lemon cake with raspberry filling and Italian Butter cream frosting. It was absolutely delicious!! In fact, we ordered a small cake prior to the wedding just to be sure, but we couldn't get enough of it.

We were also thankful for Ed for working around the natural disaster to deliver our cake. Our wedding took place July 1st right after that huge storm that knocked out most of the power in the area. The wedding cake was beautiful and delicious when it arrived.

We also would recommend you stop by Ed's bakery for his homemade donuts and other pastries! Thanks Ed!

Ed was wonderful. He did exactly what we wanted and the cake was delicious!! He was able to create the look of fondant without using it. He delivered it himself and the guests raved about it! He was a little difficult to call only because of the timing of his hours. On the flip side, he called me to remind me of upcoming payments which was awesome a week before the wedding when everyone needs money. I highly recommend Ed!

We found this vendor through our venue and are so happy that we did! We had a cake tasting that went well and decided on the pumpkin cake since we had a fall wedding and both love pumpkins. The cake was amazing and the frosting was great. Everyone at the reception commented on how great the cake tasted since most people do not expect much taste from a wedding cake. The cake was well priced and delivered on time. We used a sheet cake in the back for the staff to serve the guests and this worked very well. Not only was the cake delicious but beautiful. We used a purple ribbon and initial topper that made the cake very elegant once we added fresh flowers on the tiers. The quality and cost of this cake far exceeded other bakery vendors we tried. Thank you Ed's Country Bakery!!

Ed's cake was one of the best cakes I have ever had. At the tasting he provided all of the flavors we could possibly want. He was extremely accommodating when we didn't know entirely what we wanted and allowed us the time to make our decisions. After the wedding, all anyone could talk about was how delicious the cake was! I'll be going to him again for cakes for all sorts of parties (any excuse to get another of his cakes!)

We purchased cupcakes from Ed's Country Bakery (and had smores from our catering company: Canapes) for dessert at our wedding and the cupcakes were ridiculously good! We decided to have chocolate cupcakes with peanut butter frosting, lemon cupcakes with vanilla buttercream frosting, and carrot cake with vanilla buttercream frosting.

We heard from several guests that they ate 3 or 4 cupcakes each because they were so good...unfortunately, some guests didn't get any...so we recommend ordering a lot!

Ed was extremely easy to work with. I communicated with him mainly via e-mail and he responded promptly and answered all of my questions. We were married on a very hot day at an outdoor venue and he gave us great advice regarding keeping the cupcakes in good condition in the heat. He also made us samples I requested so we could try them before the wedding and decide on flavors.

The first time my fiancee and I drove out to Ed's shop, we only had a credit card with us and found out that Ed only takes cash or check. He let us take several samples (about 12 cupcakes) with us anyway and trusted that we would send him a check in the mail. We were very grateful as we had driven over an hour to get there and he could have easily told us to come back another time with a correct form of payment.

A couple of friends have had wedding cakes made by Ed's Country Bakery and they were beautiful and delicious. Highly recommended!

Ed's Country Bakery did an amazing job with our wedding cake! Ed was so friendly and helpful in designing a cake better than I could imagine with everything I wanted! We had a three tier cake. One layer was chocolate with chocolate ganache filling, one was strawberry with strawberry filling, and one was vanilla with raspberry filling. Each layer tasted amazing! There are so many flavors and fillings to choose from at this bakery! Our cake was beautiful and I could not have asked for anything better! The price was also very reasonable!

Eds Country Bakery did a WONDERFUL job on my wedding cake! not only was the cake delicious, but it was beautiful as well. I gave Ed a picture of a cake i liked, provided the ribbon and flowers and he made it BEAUTIFUL! He also did a grooms cake for me. My husband didnt like butter cream frosting so he allowed us to bring in canned frosting to ice the cake!

Ed and his wife were an absolute joy to work with and their cake and pies were delicious! They custom-made our cake according to the flavors and design we wanted, and also baked delicious pies for our rustic, cozy wedding. Our guests enjoyed it all so much, some even took the last piece of pie out on to the dance floor! They were professional, charming, and so nice to work with. We have plans to go back to the bakery once a month and hope to bring our children there in the future! Can't say enough good things about them!

Ed was so wonderful to work with! He responded right away to all of my emails and was more than flexible with my requests. More importantly his cakes/cupcakes are the BEST! Our wedding cake was fantastic. It looked beautiful and everyone is still raving about the taste of it, asking me where I ordered it from even 3 weeks later! Ed's Country Bakery has fantastic prices and is easy to work with. Our cake turned out to be better then we imagined, and without fondant! We plan to use Ed's Country Bakery in the future and recommend them to all the couples planning their wedding in the MD/DC area!

When we were choosing vendors, our cake wasn't a top priority. We wanted something pretty and decent-tasting but beyond that, we weren't too particular. I have to tell you, we received SOOOO many compliments that our wedding cake was the best our guests had ever had at a wedding! We had 3 layers + a supplemental sheet cake and chose different flavors for each and they were ALL SO YUMMY!!

At our tasting, we showed Ed a picture of what we wanted as a design and he did a great job replicating it. His italian buttercream icing is so good, and I was thrilled that I didn't have to go with gross-tasting, expensive fondant.

Also, when our guest count came in lower than expected, Ed was really flexible with changing our order because we didn't need as much cake. His prices were also among the best I found for ANY bakery in the DC/MD/VA area.

The cake arrived on time, looking beautiful and it tasted delicious. I slacked on not having a cake topper (it was between figuring that out and making sure that people had a place to sit) but the cake looked gorgeous and delicious. I am having trouble reisiting our cake topper in our freezer because it is so good. Highly recommend Ed for your cake; he's easy and fantastic to work.

If you're looking for organic, delicious cake, look no further! Beautiful and tasty cakes, good selection and friendly service. The cake we had was very moist with traditional frosting. We did mocha and chocolate for our layer and a vanilla layer as well. Delicious!

Our cake was SO yummy! It looked beautiful too! Ed was very easy to work with - took my ideas and made them reality. Even his arrangement of the fresh roses the day of was beyond perfect. His icing is amazing. I loathe most icing - but his Italian Buttercream icing is to die for! We knew he had to be good when Ceresville Mansion recommended him to us, but we had no idea that a little "country bakery" would really be THAT good! At our Ceresville Mansion tasting, another cake vendor brought a fondant icing cake and it was crazy how unexciting it was compared to Ed's. Do it! You won't regret it! Your guests' taste buds will thank you too. :) One of the best wedding vendor and budget decisions I made in all the planning!

We loved our 3-tier square cake!!! 2 months before our wedding a different cake vendor (CakeLore) canceled on us. It worked out in our favor however, because Ed's Country Bakery was almost half the price and the quality/taste more than exceeded our expectations. Ed's Country Bakery is pretty standard as far as cake and frosting flavors go, but I'm a big believer that you stick with what you do best... and Ed's Country Bakery does just that!

Let me start off by saying I am a complete bakery snob! I worked at a bakery for 7 years and was a cake decorator and still to this day enjoy baking for events. When looking for a bakery I did my research via internet and email. I had originally gone with a different vendor but she called me within a month of my cake tasting and had to cancel because she was expecting a baby and could no longer do it. I was disappointed but now I realize it was one of the best things that could have happened. I discovered this hidden gem in Frederick. After arriving for the cake tasting I was in love. The bakery I worked at back in the day was old fashioned and this was right up my alley! First thing I loved was NO FONDANT! Anyone who knows cakes knows fondant is pretty but tastes terrible. Who would want that on their wedding cake? Ed's Italian butter cream icing is TO-DIE-FOR!! The butter cream has a flawless look on the cake so what I had envisioned, plain cake with ribbon and fresh flowers worked out perfect. The cake tasting was delicious. He had four cupcakes for my fiancé and I to sample, yellow and chocolate with butter cream or Italian butter cream. I knew from the start I wanted almond with raspberry filling and red velvet. Ed doesn't offer free tasting past the yellow and chocolate but he had what we wanted to try available to buy. People have complained about this but we had 4 almond cupcakes and a piece of red velvet and we had extras for a few days :) We loved it so much for my birthday I ordered almond/raspberry and spice cupcakes. They are amazing! Even though you have to pay for a few samples you save on the cost of the cake itself. He is extremely reasonable. We did out of town bags and put in his chocolate chip cookies, peanut butter cookies, blueberry and chocolate chip muffins and they are incredible! I would definitely recommend Ed's Country Bakery to any bride but also anyone who wants a delicious cupcake and even cookies and muffins!

Ed knows what he is doing. I hired him to make my wedding cake and he did a flawless job. The cake was delicious, fresh, and gorgeous. Also, since I did not have a florist on site to decorate it, Ed did so for me. He showed up to the wedding on to set up and it maybe took him tem to twelve minutes to build and decorate my cake. Afterwards, I recieved mothing but praise and compliments on it. Even my grandmother, who is a gourmet chef and did the catering for my reception was very impressed with the quality. Pick Ed's Country Bakery and you will have nothing to worry about, at least with your cake.

I showed Ed a picture of what I wanted the cake to look like, and he did an amazing job matching the actual cake to the one in the picture. The cake tasted amazing (we had carrot), the design was simple yet elegant, and the price was right!

Ed did an amazing job! Not only will I recommend him I will use him for all my cake needs in the future. Ed worked with us to select the wedding cake of our dreams for an unbelievable price! We even visited for a free personalized taste testing. We sent him ribbon and cake toppers with all of our ideas, and he created the cake of our dreams. He even saved us money by making two big sheet cakes for the kitchen which was greatly appreciated. The final product was beautiful and was delicious. The thing that went "wrong" at my wedding was that I had to go to my after party before I could eat a piece of cake. Nobody boxed up an extra piece for me, so I'm waiting for our first anniversary to open up the freezer and eat the top!

Ed was incredibly flexible and accomodating. The cakes were fantastic. Decorated exactly as we had asked. Despite the summer heat (outdoor wedding in July) they held up incredibly well. I was very pleased with the overall quality, texture, taste and appearance of everything we ordered. Products we had: coconut, lemon, almond-raspberry, chocolate and red velvet.

He designed my cake from a picture and it turned out EXACTLY the way I wanted.

All my guests commented on the cake and said it was one of the best cakes ever. I had Raspberry with Italian Buttercream.

Great cake at a great price. To be honest, the cake was not my top priority because from my experience few people remember the cake, if they even have any at a wedding--I was not willing to blow our budget on the cake. All the same I wanted something that would look nice and not be total cardboard. Ed went far and above that--he did a great job with the decorating and the cake was YUMMY. I'm just sorry we didn't have him do extra so that we could have had the top to save for later. And his prices are fantastic.

There is no better value in the Frederick area than Ed's Country Bakery. Our wedding cake (almond cake with raspberry filling and Italian buttercream) was hands down the most delicious wedding cake we have ever eaten. People at our reception went back for seconds (sometimes thirds!). Ed was easy to work with -- very receptive, flexible, and creative in his decorations. I also love that he's willing to provide a small cake for the photographed cake cutting, and then the rest of the cake as a large sheet for the venue to cut up. It helped us save literally hundreds of dollars compared to what other cake vendors in the area offer. I have already planned to go back to Ed's in a year for our anniversary cake. Thank you Ed!!!

My daughter's fiance wanted a giant cookie instead of a groom's cake for their wedding. Ed provided an adorable, delicious cookie which my new son-in-law loved! We also had them provide several dozen cookies to go with the large one and they were all delicious.

Ed made us such a beautiful cake for our wedding day. I remember coming into the reception and seeing it and I was just blown away by what he had done! And it was so incredibly delicious. When we had gone to visit him before and do some taste testing, he was very helpful and helped us decide what would be the best fit for our reception. I would recommend him over any other bakery I know!

We were looking for a traditional, elegant cake that was affordable and Ed's Country Bakery was the perfect choice! He offers standard cake flavors (yellow, chocolate, lemon...) and nothing super fancy which was fine with us. The cake tasting was a bit odd since he only offered 2 flavors (yellow and chocolate) and if you wanted to try something else, you had to order it. So we ordered a dozen almond cup cakes and a dozen lemon cupcakes and decided we liked both! We ended up ordering a small 3 tier cake and another sheet cake for those that wanted seconds! Everyone commented on how great the cake was. It was even better than the fancy cake my friend had at her wedding and probably half the price!

Ed was very flexible and a pleasure to work with. Although I was planning my wedding from across the country, it was very easy to communicate with Ed via e-mail. The cake was absolutely beautiful and delicious! We just wish we had ordered more because everyone wanted seconds!!

We had a three tiered cake for 130 wedding guests from Ed's country bakery and it was amazing! Two of the layers were pumpkin with cream cheese filling, and one of the layers was chocolate cake with peanut butter filling. All the favors we sampled were great, But those two were our favorites. The night of the wedding I got many compliments about how good the cake was, it tasted good and was moist. I didn't want a cake that just looked good but didn't taste good, but with Ed I got both taste and decorations that I loved (simple but elegant).

I also felt the price was very reasonable based on what I saw out there, and the high quality I felt I received.

Of all my vendors Ed's country bakery is one of the few i would recommend with no reservations.

We got our wedding cake from Ed, recommended by a co-worker. We went in for a tasting and loved everything he made. We were on a budget, so when we told Ed what our price range was he gave us several options within that price. We went with a two tier "display" cake, and 2 sheet cakes to make up enough for our guests. I also overwrote my final payment to him, so he was able to accomodate us with 4 gluten free cupcakes just two weeks before our wedding. The only "problem" I would say is he can be hard to contact, and he is only open on Saturdays. Lucky for me, I am also hard to contact so it worked out perfectly, we communicated through email and I figured it'll take him about 3 days to get back to me, so I just made sure to leave him the extra time. It worked out perfectly. My now husband and I plan on going back each year to have him make us an anniversary cake.

If you are looking for a really good tasting wedding cake at a great price then Ed is for you. Everything is literally farm fresh, as the site is on a family run farm. The cake tasting experience was a little lacking, only preparing two or three options and did not seem enthusiastic about trying anything too over the top. Still, the cake turned out beautifully and everyone commented on how delicious it was.
