We can't say enough about how incredible Dawn, our wedding liaison at The Delta Hotel, was! From the very beginning, she made the entire planning process smooth, organized, and enjoyable. Dawn was always calm, kind, and attentive — the kind of person every couple hopes to have by their side on such a big day.
She stayed on top of every detail, coordinated effortlessly with our vendors, and made sure everything flowed perfectly on the wedding day. Her communication was clear and timely, and she genuinely cared about making our vision come to life.

Our wedding on September 19th was amazing. The Delta staff, from the Event Coordinator Dawn, to the wait staff at Tides during our reception were all amazing. We had a last minute issue arise, and Dawn stepped in and helped. I love this hotel and planning my wedding was easy and affordable. All the guests enjoyed their ocean view rooms and the amenities as well as local restaurants within walking distance. We received so much for the price. The food was the best meal we have ever had at any wedding (people are still talking about the food). We couldn't have done it without Dawn, she's amazing! We planned the wedding over emails from Texas. Everything flowed smoothly, even with not knowing how the weather was going to turn out. Dawn and everyone along the way were great to work with. Dawn offered flexibility and listened to all our ideas, thoughts and questions. She always responded with in 24 hours of emails or phone calls. She really responded just with in a couple of hours. She provided solutions and suggestions if we did not know the answer to questions.
Overall, It was amazing and everyone loved the food for the wedding, even more than the food at the rehearsal dinner(The Tides restaurant on premises, which the food was great too!). Guests stated the staff was polite and accommodating. As far as I know, there were no allergic reactions to anything, as we had a quite a few food allergies..Delta Hotels Virginia Beach Waterfront Suites's reply:

Having our wedding at the Delta Marriott on Shore Drive made all of our wedding dreams and wishes come true. From the gorgeous set up on the beach, to the beautiful ballroom, to the sunset photos taken by our family and friends I would highly recommend this venue to all engaged couples. Nicki, our hotel coordinator, was a huge help during the planning process and the entree sampling was a lot of fun! We can’t thank Nicki enough for making our wedding day so special and run so smoothly. Also, the food is incredible! I love everything about the Delta!!! :) -

We Loved the Delta
We got married at the Delta and couldn’t have asked for more! It was a beautiful venue and the staff was absolutely amazing. Nicki was the wedding coordinator at the Hotel and went above and beyond the call of duty for us endless amounts of time. I was constantly emailing her and texting her and she was also so calm and put out any fires I had. It was so nice to have the wedding the dinner and dancing all in a hotel where guests could stay. If you are looking for a Waterfront place to host your Virginia Beach wedding, you found it! I am a professional DJ and I work a few wedding events here every year and already have some lined up for next year. Before this year is over, I wanted to take the time and share with all review readers how grateful I am for the opportunity to be able to collaborate with such a great venue and the talented team that makes magic happen every time I am there. A special shout out to Dawn who I worked closely with to execute the weddings, she was able to answer all my questions. They communicate well with vendors, everything is always clean and looks amazing, and the layout options are awesome. They surely go above and beyond for their clients to have the best time ever. A beautiful, perfect experience! We had THE BEST day, and it's all thanks to Delta and their incredible team. From start to finish, Dawn communicated thoroughly, and her response time was fast. She helped from start to finish and left no question unanswered. She helped guide us with costs, hotel block arrangements, seating arrangements, our tasting, and everything in between. The hotel staff was wonderful, they greeted us all weekend with smiles on their faces, and made sure had everything we needed. We HIGHLY recommend Delta Bayfront Suites for your wedding. The location, the venue, the setting, you can't go wrong! We woke up the next morning ( in our BEAUTIFUL suite) and both said " LET'S DO IT AGAIN NEXT WEEKEND" ! Liz W. Sent on 06/17/2022Stop Searching and Hire Delta Hotels by Marriott!! Beach Weddings Done Right!!
Man, when we started our wedding vendor search right before COVID hit in 2019, we had one thing on our mind; we wanted to be married on the beach! Do you know how hard it is to have a beach wedding in Virginia Beach, what with needing to have a permit to be married on a public beach, needing to come up with a separate back-up plan, in case of poor weather, and the separate fees you'd have to pay for chairs and arch rentals, not to mention figuring out parking for your guests?!? I was SO thankful that the Delta Hotels by Marriott was opening up four minutes from our home because they made planning a beach so effortless! Although their opening was delayed, and our original wedding date postponed, Dawn was my point-of-contact and a wealth of knowledge and information throughout our planning period! She gave me such confidence from the very beginning, starting with many e-mails answering my numerous questions (which spanned over the course of 2 1/2 years!). I don't know what I would have done without her!
At the Delta, you'll have Dawn, who'll literally be there every step of the way answering any possible questions you have, and believe me, there will be many! She'll even go out of her way to find out ingredients used in the different meal options, if you have someone highly allergic to many random ingredients, and she'll do it without ever seeming like it's too much (although I do apologize for the countless inquiries I had for her! haha). At the Delta, you'll have the best view of the beach whether you choose to get married in the sand or the Dune Deck, and their reception hall overlooking the bay is breathtaking! Did I mention the beautiful room you get to stay in on your wedding night?!? It literally feels like a condo! I highly recommend upgrading to the full view of the bay! It's outstandingly beautiful!
When my husband and I entered our hotel room for the night, we were greeted with a surprise gift from Dawn, that was oh-so-beautiful and appreciated! I feel like I have so much more I could say about the Delta and Dawn especially, but this is me trying to keep it brief! One last thing I need to mention though is the food is SO GOOD! You can't go wrong with any of the options! OH, also, the getting ready room, should you choose to use it, has makeup stations, couches, a balcony overlooking the bay, and SO MUCH space! I definitely recommend reserving the Whitehurst Suite for your girls to get ready in! PLEASE CHOOSE THE DELTA!! You will never regret it!Delta Hotels Virginia Beach Waterfront Suites's reply:

The Delta Bayfront Suites was the perfect venue for our wedding reception! We had our ceremony at an Orthodox church, but were still able to enjoy the beach vibe with the private deck for cocktail hour and Chesapeake Bay view. All of our guests from out of town loved staying at the hotel for several days before the event; it was the perfect vacation spot with morning walks on the beach and afternoon relaxation on the deck! Absolutely, incredible place to get married and celebrate w/ your family & friends. Our beach ceremony overlooked the bay and was absolutely beautiful w/ the sunset. Our reception was shortly after in the sunset ball room which was exceptional. Every details was managed perfectly from the hotel staff and I want to give a huge shout out to Dawn Roberson as she was exceptional through out the entire process. We highly recommend booking your wedding/reception w/ Delta Marriott. They are exceptional and the hotel is absolutely gorgeous! Dawn and the entire staff of the Delta were absolutely incredible while hosting our wedding on 11 June 2021. Everyone from Dawn, to the hotel staff, to the kitchen (incredible food for our wedding!!), to the wait staff and set up crew (our reception set up was beautiful), and anyone we have missed, were all inviting and accommodating to everyone attending! When our beach ceremony was looking like it was going to be rained out, we took a chance and went for it and the staff had no problem giving us everything we asked for. They even ensured that we (the bride and groom) were fed and kept our glasses full throughout our wedding day dispelling all the rumors we were warned of about not getting to eat, we were FULL!! We booked Delta when they were getting a complete renovation from the studs up! Our first tour was in hardhats, visualizing what it would look like. From where it was to where it ended is absolutely amazing. It's a BRAND NEW hotel! From day one, Dawn made planning very easy. She guided us through the middle of a pandemic, calmly managed our expectations and neurosis (for things out of our control as a result of the pandemic), and kept things moving. We were lucky to be able to hold our Wedding at Delta Hotel and everything went as smoothly as you could dream! We got married on the beach, then had a cocktail hour on the deck while we were getting photos done. The reception followed in one of the beautiful halls. Beautiful venue with awesome views, fantastic food, and amazing staff! Dawn and the rest of the Delta Bayfront team made our wedding day truly magical. They provided excellent service and professionalism through the entire process. When we found out there would be rain for our beach wedding they were quick to come up with an alternate solution. When I spilled red wine on my wedding dress they were there with the "wine out" to help clean me up. When we needed tactful instructions to guests during delicate situations, they stepped in. The venue was beautiful, the food was top-notch, the personal assistance and care throughout the entire night far exceeded our expectations! Thank you for making us feel so special. Shannon Sent on 10/10/2010I would have to agree with all of the other reviews made about the Resort and Conference Center. Cheryl helped so much from the beginning to the end of my wedding. The only problems I had was the food came out a little late but that was my fault my husband was running late due to a issue with the tux compnay so I pushed everything to the right but we ended up catching up with time so I was straving and the food was still being cooked. The manager that was on site helped as much as possible to make sure me and my husband got our food as soon possible. Also I didn't have a room to get dress in but that was okay because I had a great GRAND entrance. The price was so reasonable every other place I went to was charging so much for the actual room and deck. The deck at the hotel was so pretty and the view was perfect in my pictures. Everything was set up and Cheryl had another room set up in case of inclement weather. I highly recommend Virginia Beach resort Hotel and Conference center to anyone. -

Delta Dawn was simply a Godsend from start to finish. She made sure every small detail was discussed and addressed. She gave great suggestions, and coordinated well with me and my wedding planner to ensure that our special day was all that we hoped for. Her personality and professionalism was unmatched, which made our interaction so seamless. I asked a thousand questions and she answered each one. The food, drinks, Sunset Room, and deck we all nice. The only complaint that I have is that with the restaurant tables being so close to the ceremony the chatter was overwhelmingly loud during the ceremony. Hotel should consider closing that portion of the deck during ceremonies so that it does impact the private event. I understand the health code of leaving food out over 2 hours but they should have come to us before they took it away... I would have liked to put a plate in a to-go box at my own wedding since I paid for it

This was an amazing venue for us! The food was incredible, location, the help in getting everything put together, and the room for us to be in on our first night married.
Only thing that was difficult was the change of staff in the planning process. After the change, it was smooth sailing and we had the best day ever. -

Communication was terrible. Nikki seemed great but we found out that she was actually getting married the day before us so we ended up having someone else replace her. Communication was all off. Nothing seemed organized.
First, the rehearsal was just all of us showing up with no direction, to be told we can rehearse on the beach where the arch and benches were set up, yet the patio was full. As well as the beach. So Idk what exactly they thought we weee going to accomplish.
Secondly, They couldn’t confirm we’d be able to check into our hotel room before normal check in time (4pm) to be able to put our luggage in our room before the ceremony…which was also at 4pm. Then, they couldn’t even confirm the rooms for guests/check in times. Ultimately , our wedding party was dispersed throughout several floors.
Then, the day of, when my decorators got to the reception room, there were several green and gold balloons that got away and were up on the ceiling from a family reunion that was there the night prior. They eventually got them down after searching for someone.
Another thing, the bridal party was told that we had to walk around the Pool area through the outdoor dining space (which that tiny area was not reserved so basically walk around the wet pool area and then through the outside dining tables while other guests were having their meals).
We were also not allowed to take any leftovers whatsoever….this includes the younger guests wanting to take box up some food from the nacho bar -that we purchased as an add on-up to their room when they were ready to call it a night (which I don’t understand since we paid for it….especially considering the amount we paid for the food).
We did not get the points we were advised we would get either.
To not make an already stressful situation more stressful, I would highly recommend asking a lot of questions before deciding to have a wedding here.

TL;DR: We hosted our wedding room block at Delta by Marriott Virginia Beach and faced poor communication, delayed booking links, unclean rooms, and mismanaged Welcome Boxes. Despite speaking with the General Manager, issues persisted, and it took over a month to receive promised Bonvoy points. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel for large groups or weddings due to the stress, lack of cleanliness, and poor service we experienced.

We hosted our wedding room block at the Delta by Marriott Virginia Beach for our wedding weekend (September 12-16, 2024), and unfortunately, our experience was disappointing from the start. We began coordinating with the property in February 2024, and while things started smoothly, the situation quickly deteriorated after the departure of our original point of contact.
Communication was an ongoing issue. Despite multiple follow-ups, we faced delays in receiving the booking link for our guests, which added unnecessary stress. The communication was so poor that we had to physically drive to the hotel and request to speak with a sales team member to obtain the booking link. To our surprise, the front desk informed us that none of the staff was available because the entire team was in “Customer Appreciation Training.” The irony of this situation was unbelievable—no one from the sales team was available to address our concerns when we were physically on the property because they were in training about customer appreciation.
The issues continued when we arrived. The hotel is highly advertised as pet-friendly, which is why we chose to bring our dog. However, upon checking into our personal room, I discovered more than a dozen chocolate M&Ms scattered across the floor. As chocolate is toxic to dogs, I had to pick them all up to prevent a potentially fatal situation on our wedding weekend. It was evident that the room had not been vacuumed before our check-in, which was unacceptable and concerning for a pet-friendly establishment.
The problems didn’t stop there. Our guests encountered dirty rooms, rooms that weren’t ready, and a lack of basic amenities like towels and washcloths. Additionally, despite paying to have our Welcome Boxes distributed, many guests didn’t receive them, and I personally had to remind the front desk several times. To make matters worse, one of our guests was given a Welcome Box meant for a different wedding!
The General Manager did reach out and was very apologetic about the issues. He assured us that these were isolated incidents, but that was hard to believe given the high staff turnover and problems we faced with nearly every department—sales, catering, front desk, and housekeeping. To me, this is far from an "isolated" situation. The GM tried to resolve things by offering Bonvoy points, which I appreciated as a good faith gesture, but it didn’t resolve the deeper issues we faced.
Even after speaking with the GM, who reassured us we wouldn’t face more problems, it still took over a month for us to receive the Bonvoy block points and elite night credits we were promised. Throughout the entire process, I had to stay on top of the hotel staff on a weekly, if not daily, basis to ensure things were handled.
This review serves as a warning for other large groups or weddings to reconsider hosting at this property. While the points were a kind gesture, the level of stress, lack of cleanliness, and poor communication we experienced made it difficult to enjoy what should have been a seamless, special occasion.
