So glad we decided on King Kamehameha's Kona Beach Hotel for our wedding

We got married at the Marriott King Kamehameha's Kona Beach Hotel. Melanie and the entire team went above and beyond in every way possible.

Melanie made the planning process so easy (we had a wedding planner; shout out to Sunshower Wedding!). We had not been to venue before our wedding, but never had a doubt the day would be amazing. The most stressful part of the planning process was deciding on a drink package!

We had the cocktail hour, ceremony and dance party at the Imu Grounds. It was gorgeous and perfect for our party of 95. Dinner and first dance was at the Luau Grounds timed perfectly at sunset.

We were blessed with a beautiful sunny day (no rain nor was it too hot), but there was a moment the forecast was showing rain. The hotel had a contingency plan for us in case it rained (we found out afterwards that’s not always done). The wedding would have moved into one of their beautiful ballrooms which we would have been quite happy with.

The most special part of our Kona trip

Incredible experience.! 10 out of 10 absolutely recommended. Kat and the whole team made sure our experience was so beautiful and special. Every detail was beautiful. The guitar player, the hula dancer and the officiant give all of their beautiful energy to make the experience so unique and memorable.

Memory of a lifetime

We've had our vows renewed here and it was the most magical moment! I think I've cried more than at our actual wedding. The kind team makes the experience feel super warm and special. We highly recommend receiving the Aloha spririt through such an exceptional ceremony. MAHALO for everything!!!

Loved renewing our vows

This was such a special event that my husband and I did. The hotel staff made it such a special occasion and I was clear that they were just as touched and full of love as my husband and I. Next time I’d recommending paying extra for a photography as I would’ve loved pictures of the special memory.

Renewing Our Love by a Beautiful Sunrise

It was a joyful experience witnessing a breathtaking sunrise. My husband and I planned a trip to the Big Island to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary, and while researching Kona Beach Hotel, we found out about the vow renewal ceremony and decided to join. Together with other couples and a wonderful officiant, we renewed our vows by the beautiful ocean, accompanied by lovely music. The ceremony was well-organized, and the staff was incredibly kind. It’s hard to believe this event was free! I highly recommend it to anyone visiting the hotel. We hope to continue as a caring and loving couple. Thank you♥

We had a very simple vow renewal and it was perfect! We stayed all week at the resort and had a lovely time: room, pool, beach, bar, buffet.

We had a wonderful stay and special event. Staff, property and amenities are fantastic!

Beyond what we could have ever imagined!

Renewed our wedding vows. We were married on the Big Island 19 years ago.

Melanie & the King Kamehameha crew made our vow renewals so special. We were married on the Big Island 19 years ago & it seemed like the perfect time to refresh our commitment. This time our 11 year old daughter was with us as part of our ceremony. She will remember it for the rest of her life. They went above and beyond to make our ceremony special on this beautiful island. We are grateful & thankful. ❤️

The wedding was absolutely beautiful

It was a pleasure to plan our son’s wedding breakfast at the King Kamehameha hotel. Melanie was very helpful and responsive. She made the planning process easy and seamless connecting us with all of the vendors and a wonderful officiant. The wedding was absolutely beautiful. The breakfast following the ceremony was perfect! Everyone raved about the food. We can’t thank Melanie and the staff for making it a perfect day!

Our experience was fantastic!

Our experience was fantastic! The vision we had planned for our wedding was displayed according to plan. Melanie made sure she had created a software floor plan of the venue for us to look and edit afterwards. She She was just one call and text away when we have questions. She showed us a lot of food options for the buffet. The foods were so good and delicious especially healthy too!

The venue was lovely! It enraptured the whole island beauty that we just laid plain decorations only. Aside from that, it’s spacious! We need not worry about the traffic of the people coming in especially we need to keep social distancing for our safety. Everybody felt safe while enjoying the event.

During the wedding , all the staffs are friendly and approachable. Melanie called me in the morning to check the weather and told me beforehand that it might drizzle in the afternoon. I was worried it might rain the entire time of the event that we might have to move all the stuffs inside the hotel. But, it didn’t rain! Thank you God! It was just cloudy and not hot outside. Perfect, cause we didn’t provide a tent. 🥰 There was drizzle after the event which is such a blessing! 🙏🏼

Thank you melanie and the KingKam staffs for the help that you do. The Mai Tai was so good that my bridal party had a good time. 😂 We had fun partying! Felt so nice to celebrate our wedding with family and friends. We will cherish the lovely memory of our wedding until we grow old. 🥰❤️

A beautiful wedding!

I had my wedding here in September 2019. It was absolutely beautiful. Melanie, the coordinator is so responsive that I didn’t even feel like I was 6000 miles away. She was even super accommodating of a last minute big day off change. I was so happy with my choice of venue.

Unexpected Wedding

We had only gone to look at Venues for a wedding. Melanie put together our wedding in two days. It was more than we aline could have put together in months. We had Hawaiian traditions with Christian vows. There was no stress on us. We streamed it live on Facebook thanks to Melanie and it was like our friends and family was there. Now the King Kamehameha hotel family is like our family. Leaving, one of the valets played Brown Eyed Girl on my recently purchased ukulele for us! Amazing experience.

Everything we could have asked for and more!

Our wedding at the Marriott was exactly what we wanted. We communicated with Melanie for a full year before our wedding and she was incredibly professional and helpful, always providing quick, detailed responses to our questions and always available to talk if we needed to.

This was a destination wedding for us and we went ahead with arranging a wedding at this location despite never having visited, which gave us obvious reservations - we never should have worried at all. Everything was perfect, the location was beautiful and Melanie had all the details taken care of. It was wonderful.

Although it is pretty rare to rain, we did have rain on our wedding night and Melanie was quick to offer us an indoor alternative on the day. Even after we decided to just have fun in the rain instead, all the hotel staff continued to be lovely while having to work our wedding and getting wet. We were very happy we did it outside despite the rain, in fact it made for a very comfortable event in the heat.

We would highly recommend this venue for your wedding, Melanie is very easy to work with and will do her best to accommodate your requests. We couldn't have been happier with the result.

Fantastic venue!

I have nothing but positive & nice things to say about Melanie Lucas. She is very responsive, quick to give information if asked & is she doesn’t know the answer she finds out right away & let’s you know. She’s very attentive & listens to your ideas & gives you what you want to the best of her ability. No questions asked the best person for the job. Because of her I will be staying at the hotel more often. The only thing I would change would be with the food part of the event, I would have liked to have the food stay out longer because some people like to have seconds or thirds but not back to back. Besides that everything was wonderful & when the way I planned.

We had such a wonderful experience working with Melanie from the very start of our Wedding planning journey. We got married in August 2017 and had the best day working with Melanie and the hotel staff. She was always so quick to answer all my questions and was very accommodating! She truly loves what she does and it definitely shows. The food at the Courtyard King Kamehameha was amazing as we received many compliments. We were very pleased working with Melanie Lucas for our wedding back in March. She and her staff accommodated all of our needs to make our wedding a night to remember. We got married in Marriott Courtyard King Kamehameha's Beach Hotel and it was truly our dream wedding. I cannot say enough great things about this venue. First off, the wedding planner, Melanie, is amazing and worked really closely with me on every single detail. She was able to execute what I had in mind down to every single detail. Since we were planning a destination wedding, we communicated mainly through email (although she was always available via phone as well). She was extremely responsive to all of my questions and always came prepared with ideas on how to execute my very detailed vision. Before the actual wedding day, she helped set-up a luau the night before our wedding, which was a welcome dinner and went out of her way to make sure we got the very best deal. She even helped ensure we got the best spots at the event and put welcome bags out on each of our guests' spots. On the actual day of our wedding, she managed all the details, so I did not have to worry about a thing. She had such a great attitude and was available to meet as often or as little as we needed before the big day. Secondly, the venue itself is absolutely stunning. All of my guests stayed at the hotel and loved the beach and the pool bar. This is one of the only hotels in Kona that has a beach, so they especially loved that. The hotel has a coffee shop inside along with a ABC store, which definitely came in handy! The venue is located in a small beach town with lots of restaurants and bars and shops nearby, which my guests loved too. The actual event site that we had our event on was the luau grounds, which overlooks the water, but is on concrete, so we did not have to worry about sand. For the perfect view and location, this price was unbeatable and the customer service was great. At the end of our event, all of our guests commented that this was the best wedding they had ever been to.

Melanie Lucas made planning our October 2016 wedding at the King Kamehameha an easy and pleasant experience. She helped us stay on budget and let us bring in decorations, flowers, and even let me drop off an Etsy hammock, beach, and seashell cake topper scene, which she put together beautifully as a surprise for my husband, family and friends. Melanie listened to our ideas and made them a reality such as having Mai Tais served as a welcome to the ceremony drink. The only advice I have for couples planning a fall sunset wedding on the luau grounds would be to have your ceremony start within 30 minutes of sunset so the sun is not shining in the wedding party's eyes during the ceremony, and to test the wedding march music to make sure it's load enough for the wedding party to hear from where the procession starts. The wedding party song was loud enough, but my instrumental bridal march music was not loud enough to hear past the luau grounds where we were lined up. Go for it-it is beautiful, the setting is hard to beat ! Melanie is amazing ! We had some last minute issues like hairdresser cancelling and brides appendix coming out 2 days before the wedding, so Melanie found a hairdresser, rescheduled the rehearsal and had a wheel chair standing by and most of all-being totally calm about everything !

This is a wonderful venue with great views at a very reasonable price but I must say that Melanie is the number one reason we chose to book our destination wedding at the King Kamehamaeha’s Kona Beach Hotel. We traveled to the island in 2015 to tour and meet with our top 5 venue locations (including the Hilton and Waikoloa Marriott). The minute we walked into The Kona Beach Hotel I knew that I would have complete trust in Melanie and her capabilities as a wedding and venue coordinator. I also preferred the fact that the wedding is actually held on the water as opposed to the resorts in Waikoloa. I work as a meeting and event planner myself and had a lot of events and my own house demolition rebuild to coordinate within the couple of months prior to our wedding. The stress level was high but Melanie was always a click away with local advice, amazing vendor contacts and detailed answers/confirmations.

On the day of the wedding we were warmly greeted by the staff as well as Melanie, the flowers ordered through the house florist were amazing and just what I wanted (I only provided a few examples via email so I was a little worried), the officiant Melanie hired was PERFECT for our family, the photographer she endorsed was one of the best I have ever worked with, the tables were set as promised so that my helpers were able to quickly drop my linen, favors and décor and the food was absolutely amazing! ... I highly recommend the coconut shrimp.

We are so happy that we chose the Kona Beach Hotel as out wedding venue and would recommend it to anyone who is looking to get married in the Kailua-Kona area!

Our son's wedding was held on the busy weekend of July 4th.Our wedding coordinator was Melanie Lucas. She was great. She was very knowledgeable,tailored the wedding to the family's budget,and was so available to our needs. Her kindness and smiles were so reassuring--it can get hectic since we gave her a short time (3months) to put this together. It was fabulous every one enjoyed themselves,luau grounds were beautifully decorated,food was delicious-the ambiance made for a perfect wedding. Hello, my name is Julie. I'm from Canada and was recently a bridesmaid in a friend's wedding at King's Kamehameha's Kona Beach Hotel. Melanie was amazing! The venue was the perfect setting to embrace new love. The flowers were gorgeous and the food was delicious. I'm not usually one for a buffet, but this one was excellent! The food was fresh, abundant and had great variety.

Melanie found what we needed for great prices without cutting quality. She was organised, calm and delightful!
Her disposition was embracing and made us feel that we didn't need to worry about a thing, and we didn't.
I highly recommend working with Melanie on your future wedding /event needs.

It was AWESOME, we had over 350 guest with no complaints. Melanie really took care of us and was a big help when setting up. The front desk were extremely helpful especially Kristen, Nastia, and the nice gentleman that works the late night shift. We really felt welcomed and the sprit of ALOHA during our stay!

We will definitely recommend this hotel to our family and friends.

If you are looking to do a last minute wedding, this is the place to go. All the staff was wonderful. King Kamehameha's Kona Beach Hotel was a great location for our wedding. We were treated so nicely and warmly by the staff and everyone went out of their way to make us feel special. Melanie was the absolute best. She was always available to speak to me and make this nervous bride feel so at ease. We had the perfect wedding and could not have asked for better service, food, and attention. Our suite was incredible. I know we will be back to Kona in the next couple of years and will always visit the King Kam. You can't be the value, the location, and the amazing view.

I planned the most unconventional wedding EVER, and Ronnie was AMAZING at working with all my requirements. She put me in touch with the best people, and had the best recommendations for how to make my vision a reality. She was extremely helpful and very open minded, just great to work with. King Kamehameha Hotel made our wedding dream a reality....it was exactly what we wanted. The hotel staff was so accommodating and met all our expectations! Our coordinator, Veronica Claveran and the rest of the planning staff handled it so well that we have no complaints what so ever! Veronica was so helpful and arranged everything so perfectly. In fact, she was at our ceremony to ensure everything went smoothly. Our guest loved the Hawaiian buffet....everything was fresh and our servers were prompt in providing everything that was needed….excellent banquet service. My friends and family are still raving about the food and best of all is the location for our ceremony. We shared our wedding vows overlooking the ocean and our pictures looked like postcards. I looked over 7 different wedding venues but nothing compared to what I was looking for: reasonable price, the scenery and especially the excellent and prompt service, it couldn’t be beat!! With a beautiful view of the ocean, an organized program, raving reviews of the buffet and excellent prompt service, what more could any wedding couple want. We envisioned a beautiful and smooth wedding and that is exactly what we got. Thank You King Kam for making our wedding party a special and memorable one.

The King Kamehameha's Kona Beach Hotel was the perfect spot for our marriage. There are many spots to choose from on their grounds, from beach to oceanfront, to lawn areas. Stephen, the coordinator was a tremendous help and the hotel provided wonderful catering and service for a very reasonable price. Wonderful setting, food, service, price, we really could not have been more happy with them!

Our wedding was everything we dreamed about! Ronnie took care of us as if we were the only ones that mattered. This was done via email and phone calls. It felt like we had know Ronnie for years. We can never thank her enough for making our day so special!

After reviewing wedding planners and locations on the Big Island of Hawaii, we were so pleased to find the King Kamehameha Hotel and our planner, Melanie Lucas. Melanie walked us through holding my wedding ceremony and reception on the beautiful luau grounds and helped with all the details. She spent a lot of time answering our many questions and making sure everything was just right. She even held me accountable and gave me a sample agenda for the wedding and reception. Also, she suggested vendors when we needed them, including an awesome live band which played Hawaiian music all evening.

The location (luau grounds) was so beautiful, with lights strung around and tiki torches. We also brought tealight candles for the tables. Melanie helped us to design a wonderful reception, where we put 4 long rectangular tables together to form one large table so our 18-guest party was able to interact. (Rather than multiple round tables separating guests). While the hotel provided a few basic things such as chairs and white flowy fabric for the square arch, we decided to make our own decorations rather than using another vendor and brought in flowers and other decorations, many of which were purchased from the local market. The hotel has apparently improved its vendors, and so we were able to get exact things we wanted, such as a ti leaf lei for my husband and a white orchid lei for me. Also I was really impressed with the photographer that came with the package we purchased, the photos were really great and I was able to take them home with me before we left the island! (Note we did not use the officiant as our pastor from home came.)

The food was great, people raved about the prime rib. Our wedding cake that came with the package was fabulous, had a lilloki frosting between the layers that was delicious, and the cake was beautiful with orchids on top.

I'm probably forgetting some things, but what sticks in my head is this: my wedding was STORYBOOK.

We travelled from Australia to Hawaii to get married and found having our wedding organized by Melanie to be an extremely easy way to do thing. We found Melanie very easy to deal with in the lead up to the wedding she made sure all our requests were met even the ones they wouldn't normally do. When we arrived we were greeted by very friendly staff and with lovely accommodation, we were shown around and were very happy with what we were shown.
There was one hitch which was the lack of a photographer even though we had paid for one, it was till after our ceremony when I had a chance to ask where the photographer that one was organized last minute. We didn't mind to much the only issue is the lack of professional photos from during the wedding.
The food and service at the reception was delicious. My only complaint during the reception was that myself and my new husband weren't offered first choice of meal selection which resulted in us being left with dishes we wouldn't have chosen if we had been asked first.
All the staff worked very hard to ensure we were happy and always tried to fix any issues as promptly as possible.
The bouquet of flowers that was organized for me was absolutely stunning and so colorful.
The officiant, Aunty Tutu, was very well organized and made our day extremely special for us.
