I really liked that Courtney didn't have many staged photos, they all felt like honest moments that she captured. A lot of the wedding photographers have almost identical photos for every wedding they shoot, and I loved her documentary style that showed the personality of the couples. We ultimately hired Courtney because we felt comfortable around her and we really enjoyed hanging out with her, she put us at ease. Choosing a photographer is the biggest decision we made in planning, and we knew Courtney would be trustworthy and give us great photos to keep forever.

Courtney Potter is the best there is! She is so talented and captured moments of my wedding day I'll cherish forever. Courtney is also very calming which was wonderful to have around on a hectic day. I highly recommend her to anyone who needs a photographer for any occasion :)

Courtney is by far one of favorite people to work with. She was absolutely amazing to work with from the initial email, to the day of the wedding, to receiving finished product (photos). You certainly get what you pay for, and with so many different options to choose from, you can really select what works best for you. Because of Courtney and her amazing photography skills, I can always cherish that special day for a lifetime. I highly recommend her (and already have) to anyone looking for outside the box photos. She's fabulous!

Courtney was great to work with. She was very organized and thorough on the front end of planning - she has a very comprehensive checklist which helped us think through which shots we wanted to get. She has a fun and awesome personality, so we loved having her around on the day of the wedding. The assistant photographer was also great too, they both had us cracking up all night. We are super happy that we went with Courtney Potter - I highly recommend her and her team!

Courtney was so fabulous to work with! My husband and I both felt at ease around her during our engagement session, so we interacted naturally with each other during the shoot and it shows in our beautiful pictures. She’s super easy to get along with and very organized and responsive. She goes above and beyond – for example she drove a long way to check out our ceremony location with us before the wedding to get a sense of the lighting on the big day. Because we had the pleasure of working with Courtney for our engagement session, it was comforting to know that we already knew and trusted the person who would photograph our wedding – and that she would take stellar photos (which she DID!) We also love that she and her assistants encouraged us to be goofy and creative during the photo shoot – but also took time shooting us being candidly sincere and in love. After our friends hired Courtney as their wedding photographer they highly recommended her for our wedding - and now I’m highly recommending her to you!!

My husband and I hired Courtney as our wedding photographer, and we couldn't be happier with that decision! As you can tell from her portfolio, Courtney is an AMAZING photographer. Part of what drew us to her was not only her obvious talent, but how unique her photos are. She has a knack for catching those fleeting candid moments that happen throughout the big day when you're in too much of a rush to really appreciate them. We found a lot of those Easter eggs in the finished images we received and we love them so much, even more than our posed portraits! Her use of light and framing to create complex, creative images is really astounding and we've gotten tons of compliments on the ones that we've shared with loved ones and online. Courtney is also just a really cool person in general - everyone loved her and were able to relax around her, so she was able to capture everyone acting natural and having fun. I could not recommend her more if you're looking for someone to document your big day!

Courtney did a great job doing the photography for our wedding! She was very professional and always very quick to communicate with us. We live out of state, so weren't able to meet her until our wedding weekend, but she made that as easy as it could have been. She has several photography packages available and gave us honest advice to help us choose the one that seemed best for our needs. She provided a contract that could be signed online and sent us a questionnaire a couple of months before our wedding with specific questions about our photography needs. She made herself available for several phone calls beforehand to discuss our ideas for the wedding and our photography preferences, and answer our questions, and met with us at the wedding venue on the day before to scout out the best locations for portraits etc.

On the day of the wedding, she was punctual, professional, fun and relaxed, and took some wonderful photos! She fit right in with our group and did a great job getting the formal portraits we wanted before the wedding without it being distracting or awkward during such a busy day. You can tell that she is super well organized and has a system for how to get everything done, and it works! I felt like she helped me calm down on such a hectic day. She and her assistant also did a fantastic job getting a ton of great candid shots during our ceremony and reception. We got the photographs back digitally about 5 weeks later, and I could not have been happier with how they turned out. Courtney and her assistant really captured the feeling of our wedding by getting great shots of so many special moments and details just at the right time. I'm so grateful to have her stunning photos to reminisce with for years to come. We ordered prints and they were delivered to us in a timely manner along with a flash drive with all of our images optimized for print and web. We're very happy with Courtney's work, and would definitely recommend her for any event!

Courtney's photography looks very authentic and truly captures the spirit and emotions of what is happening in the moment. Sometimes wedding photography can appear staged. Of course you need some posed portraits, but some of the best photos I've seen from weddings is when the person doesn't realize they are being photographed. Courtney and her second shooter were great to work with! They rolled with whatever was going on and went along with whatever goofy thing we wanted to do. Courtney knew the venue well, and I like where she put us for "the first look." Courtney is incredibly easy to work with and super reliable. As a bride you need to know you can count on people the day of because you have zero time to micro-manage and with Courtney I didn't once worry that something was going to go wrong.

We are unconventional and wild and completely silly people. You seemed like the best person to be able to capture who we really are. You were amazing to work with. It was so awesome to meet someone who was completely true to themselves right off the bat. Neither Robbie nor I like our picture taken, but with you it didn’t feel formal or stiff, but like a friend was taking pictures of us. It was perfect. You were wonderful to work with. We used Courtney for our April 2016 wedding and absolutely could not be any happier! From day one she was extremely quick with correspondence and very professional. She put us at ease after our first meeting with her confidence and knowledge about photography.

The months leading up to the wedding, she was just as responsive and helpful. Always quick to answer a question and doing so in a warm manner.

The day of, she captured our wedding perfectly. One of the best compliments everyone shared about Courtney was that she never felt like the she was in the way but she was still able to capture every moment. We feel like we're reliving our special day just by looking at the pictures. Each one was beautiful and captured a special moment.

Our highest recommendation to use Courtney. She was the ultimate professional, but in the most friendly and personal way. We will definitely use her again in the future.

We are so happy with our decision to have Courtney Potter as our wedding Photographer. Courtney had been the photographer for a good friend of mine and I loved her wedding photos, which is why I originally reached out to Courtney. Ever since our first interaction, Courtney was extremely professional, responsive, and always interested in our thoughts and opinions. Though we were not able to meet before the wedding weekend (since I live out of NC), I felt comfortable working with Courtney because she was willing to talk over the phone, skype with us, and answer all of our other questions in emails. During the wedding weekend, she was timely and worked well with other vendors (such as our videographer). We were so happy when we received the final photographs just a few weeks ago. Our wedding photography was one of our top priorities, and we knew that we wanted someone special to capture our wedding day. We wanted a photographer with whom we would be comfortable to be ourselves, and someone who cared more about capturing real moments and emotions over what our centerpieces and decorations would look like.

In researching and vetting many photographers in the area, we were very much turned off by several photographers who seemed to be more interested our decoration ideas for magazine submissions! When we first met Courtney, we were truly impressed with her story, cool personality, and beautiful photography. She is extremely down-to-earth and genuine; we truly have nothing but great things to say about Courtney.

In the span of about a year of working with Courtney, she has never failed to be swift in her communications, and helpful with recommendations and professional judgment. Courtney and a second photographer were able to capture so many important memories, moments, and emotions (some that we did not even notice in the whirlwind that was the wedding day). Courtney was the consummate professional, from start to finish. If you are looking for a photographer who will really capture you and your partner...not just a couple getting married, not an "idea" of you, but YOU, I urge you to consider Courtney as your wedding photographer. Or honestly, as your photographer for any event. She truly has so much creativity and talent for catching the in-between moments that really tell the whole story of the day. A wonderful balance of structure (very responsive, detail and specificity, timeline for shots, etc) and breathing room (if it doesn't fit with the flow day-of, no need to force it), we were thrilled with our experience and couldn't be happier with our photos.

When we started planning our wedding and were looking at the Haw River Ballroom as a possible venue, we googled “Haw River Ballroom weddings” and the second link was to one of Courtney's shoots. It was exactly the vision we had for our wedding and we instantly loved her style. We knew that working Courtney we'd get more than a bunch of pictures of us in fancy clothes, but really special photos that we would treasure. So then we met up with Courtney and it turned out she's just a really cool person. We felt really comfortable with her and like we were talking with a friend. Choosing her as our photographer was a really easy decision, and it ended up being one of the best decisions we made through our wedding planning. Our photos are absolutely beautiful, and you can tell how much thought she puts into her work. She really takes it to the next level. As just one example - there's a great photo of me watching my maid of honor give her speech. But it is shot through the crowd, at a really cool angle, and it's just so much more unique and special than if she had just taken a straight on photo of my face. Everyone we share our photos with just raves about them, and I've had a few friends tell me they wish they had known about Courtney before their weddings! AND on top of being a skilled artist, Courtney is great to work with. She is a fun and easy to get along with person, which is important because you want to feel comfortable with your photographer on the big day. She was also really responsive to all of our questions and requests and always professional. Basically, we have only amazingly positive things to say about Courtney and we highly recommend her!

Courtney Potter took the most beautiful photos of our wedding that we could possibly have hoped for. She has a true gift for getting exactly the right moment, from exactly the right angle, in exactly the right lighting, and with the most tremendous colors. She captured so many moments and details that my wife and I were able to truly relive the experience when she sent us the results (which came back impressively fast).

But the whole experience was not just the masterful camerawork. She met with us ahead of time to feel out how we would want to be photographed, and did her research with regard to how we wanted our wedding to be captured. She made us feel comfortable in front of her lens. She sent us an adorable package when she was finished with the photos, and the unboxing of the pictures was an event in itself!

I really can't say enough about the consummate professionalism and incredible results that come along with Courtney Potter. I would recommend her with no reservations.

I know that that was a lot of stars- but it was meant. We wanted a photographer to catch the essence of our friends and loved ones at our wedding - the smiles on peoples' faces and love in our hearts. After looking at a few websites, I spoke with Courtney and felt like she was someone we would want to spend our day with. My partner and I loved working with Courtney! Our wedding wasn't very typical or traditional, and Courtney did such an amazing job of capturing the essence of our celebration with her documentary style. Leading up to the wedding I got super stressed, and it was a joy to work with someone who was relaxed, fun to be with, and SO WELL-PREPARED (she has a system people, and it works!). She coordinated with us way in advance of the wedding so that all our major photography decisions were made ahead of time, but then we still had flexibility to switch things up when not everything went as planned. Besides being great to work with, Courtney is a PHENOMENAL photographer! She is fearless (and ninja-like) in her ability to get those money shots without actually being in the action. Our photos are absolutely gorgeous. They're so vivid and so genuinely US. It was a truly magical day for us, and because of Courtney we'll always be able to relive it, no matter how much time and space go by.

The ONE thing that surprised me the most and will stick MOST with me is this: Across every single solitary part of the wedding planning process (from caterers to flowers to churches), Courtney was the most consistent, clear, responsive, and timely out of EVERYONE. Honestly, sometimes when we were feeling down about a lack of responsiveness from some other area of wedding planning we’d be like, “Let’s ask Courtney a question!” Boom. Super helpful answer the very next day. Sometimes it wasn’t even about pictures. Courtney answered our question about where family could get their hair done in town! Does that normally come with a photo package? I dunno. But it did with Courtney!

We got a great recommendation for Courtney from a close friend who is also a photographer. Once we checked out her photos we were really impressed and excited to meet and learn more. We loved the way she was so personal and open with us, and how she was so genuine in wanting to get to know us as. We also loved her documentary style and her attention to quirky details in the photos that we saw of other weddings. All of our interactions and meetings made everything feel natural and easy on the day of the wedding!
Whenever there are so many moving parts and people, events can be really intimidating. Courtney really helped things run smoothly by having us make a detailed schedule for photos so that everyone knew when to be where. It was great that she was on board with the schedule we came up with, and then she stuck with it and made it happen! We were pleasantly surprised about her ability to be both totally in control and serious in giving direction, and also silly and fun at so many points during the day. Courtney was a dream to work with. She is friendly and exhibits the utmost professionalism. As a photographer myself, a great wedding photographer was one of my top priorities and I truly believe I found the best. She was on point with style and capturing real moments in a refreshing way that didn't look like over-lit, staged wedding photography. She was willing to work with us every step of the way, even when we moved our date up by several months! Our family, friends, wedding party and guests all raved about her interactions with them and the photos they got to see later. Absolutely no reports of "awkward/demanding/annoying wedding photographer" that I've heard people complain of. Courtney is also incredibly timely--we had our photos back in 3 weeks. I've had friends waiting months for their photos. Here is what I told her in an email recently:

We are so lucky and so grateful for all Courtney did to work with us. She always made everything so easy and truly felt like "one of us" from the beginning :). From the most practical perspective, she went out of her way to meet our budget needs and she made both of us, who are not the most at-ease in front of a camera, feel so comfortable the entire time. However, her service was so much more than that. When we met with her, it was like sitting down to coffee with a friend. At our wedding, we had so much fun with her-our families loved her. She was always so receptive to ideas and questions and took the most beautiful photos of our wedding that make me laugh and cry at the same time. We could not have been happier with Courtney doing our wedding and engagement photography! She was extremely friendly, cool, flexible, and professional all at the same time, not to mention the pictures turned out spectacular. We had a rather large wedding (225 people) at the Haw River Ballroom in Saxapahaw, NC. Courtney and the intern working with her did an amazing job capturing the real essence of our event, including everyone's individual personalities and quirks. We got lots of candid pictures of our families being silly. My new husband was referring to her as the camera ninja during the ceremony because we barely saw her but she got amazing shots! My husband got sick the morning of the ceremony and we had to move the groomsmen photos to a later time - she made it work perfectly even though the bridal party was a bit stressed. She was flexible to offer us a wonderful package that fit within our budget. We had a lot of fun working with her and would recommend her to anyone looking for more than just your run-of-the-mill photography!

We had the pleasure of having Courtney and her husband Justin Cook photograph our wedding. They were both a joy to work with - professional and yet light hearted and fun. When they were working with us for our family and couple shots they kept things light and were super creative in incorporating the scenery for our outdoor wedding. Other than that we never knew they were even there for most of the evening and yet when I got the pictures back it was absolutely apparent that they were with us every step of the way. My husband and I are horrible at posed pics, we take much better pictures when they are taken spontaneously. I sought Courtney out because of her photojournalism background and her love of capturing emotion in the moment. She warned me that posed photography was not her thing which is what made me love her even more. She delivered 300% on capturing so many beautiful, hilarious and endearing moments of the night - so many of those moments we would have missed or forgotten if it had not been for her and Justin capturing it in perfect timing. In my opinion the photographer should be the greatest expense of your day, the wedding will fly by, the flowers will fade, you may never have another opportunity to wear your wedding gear - but those pictures will last forever. Very much worth investing in! Courtney - you and Justin were an absolute pleasure to work with and worth every single penny! Honestly feel like you were a steal - highly recommend you guys!

The amazing Courtney Potter took both my engagement photos and my bridal portraits (she was unfortunately already booked for our wedding wknd, but gave us a great referral to an amazing colleague for day-of photos). She is hands down one of the most truly gifted photographers out there! She traveled up to the mountains for our engagement session, and was so excited about chasing the light and setting up the most beautiful shots. She didn't force anything and really captured our natural selves, which made the photos turn out extra special. And for my bridals done in historic Old Salem (Winston-Salem), she was so fantastic again! She made me feel so beautiful and like a celebrity for the afternoon! We tromped all over the place, even exploring an old gothic graveyard and grabbing some amazing shots there. She is so imaginative, up for anything, and such a great partner is pursuing your wedding photo dreams! And even better yet, I can count her as a friend, as she is such a good person with an amazing spirit! You will NOT regret picking Courtney to be your photographer!!

Courtney was wonderful every step of the way. After meeting with her before the wedding I knew I had nothing to worry about and I was in good hands. She is on top of things and hard working but not uptight, which is helpful when everything else seems to be stressful on a wedding day. She did a fantastic job capturing moments big and small and we couldn't be happier with the photos we received. Thanks Courtney!

Working with Courtney for our wedding was one of the best (and easiest) decisions we made in all the planning. She was so very flexible and available any time that we needed her. She was prompt and professional in both correspondence and in delivering our finished photos. Also, she is just really fun! I am rather introverted, so I was quite nervous about being the center of attention on the big day, and I was afraid my awkward-ness would come across in my photos, but not the case! I was so comfortable being in front of Courtney's camera, and I'm so grateful to have the images she captured of our day. The way she documented it is exactly how I want to remember it!

Courtney was literally amazing! The pictures were perfect. She's professional and made the process a breeze. Perhaps more importantly for me - she made getting great shots at our wedding easy. I wanted really beautiful pictures, but it was important to me not to spend my whole wedding and reception posing for photos. She fit so seamlessly into the process that it felt like she almost wasn't there. It was so exciting to see the final pictures because I didn't even know she was shooting. She captures all the important photos (family, friends, bridesmaids, cake cutting, etc.) but also captured the most amazing informal shots. I couldn't recommend her more!

My husband and I were thrilled to have Courtney as our wedding photographer! Her natural talent and the quality of her training really shine through in her work. She was able to capture not only the events and details of our wedding, but also the mood. Friends who could not attend our wedding are able to look at the pictures and still get a realistic sense of what it felt like to be there. This means so much to us! We are incredibly grateful for the work that Courtney lovingly put into capturing our wedding, and we will treasure her photographs for years to come.

It was wonderful having Courtney shoot photos for our wedding! I had been a bridesmaid in a wedding she shot the year before and knew she was a joyful and calm presence to have in the dressing room before the wedding. Setting up the details before the wedding was easy with the form she provided for us, with our clear preferences for what we wanted and also what she would need. Our wedding and time frame were simpler than most but her flexibility and professionalism were still key to a smooth day. Sam and I had a great time when Courtney took our portraits on the church's playground. She has a spontaneous spirit which I had seen in her other times at church outings. I had no problem trusting that she was willing to take our pictures in the rain in February on a playground :).

My wedding day was truly a dream! People told me for months that it would be one big blur, but I found a way to cherish beautiful details. Even now the details don't fade as so many of them were caught from behind Courtney's camera! Courtney has a wonderful spirit not only of pure joy, but of peace; wedding days can be stressful but with her sense of calm, Courtney guided us through photo after beautiful photo! From our first meeting in a cute coffee shop in Chapel Hill to the wedding day, Courtney and I shared a beautiful season of my life and I hope that she gets to share in yours! I promise you will never regret a penny, a minute, or a crazy hot North Carolina summer afternoon in July with this sweet photographer!

We had a wonderful experience working with Courtney Potter. She did such a fabulous job, and looking at our photos, you'd have no idea that our wedding was her very first solo wedding shoot. Courtney was easy-going, warm, professional, and sought to understand what we wanted in our photography. She took the time to really get a feel for our wedding site, scouting out places for interesting shots and amazing natural light.

Courtney stayed out of the way while getting tons of wonderful shots; I never felt like her presence was overbearing or took away from the moment, and our guests confirmed this.

In short, I would hire her again in a heartbeat.

Courtney was our photographer for our engagement photos and our wedding. We couldn't have been happier with how they turned out! Looking back on her photos really brings the whole day back to life. They are beautiful and really captured our personalities and style. We have many displayed in our home, and we have received many compliments about how great they are. We felt very comfortable with her, and nothing turned out looking too posed or stiff. She caught some great moments that we love to look back on.

She worked with us and gave us exactly what we wanted. Our pictures are beautiful, and we highly recommend her work. I wouldn't have changed a thing!

Courtney did a fabulous job of capturing the joy of our wedding!!! We have beautiful photographs to remember the day. Probably one of my favorite aspects of our photos is that Courtney really captured the emotion and "moment" so to speak of every aspect of our day. She also did a wonderful job of our photo album. I feel like I got a great deal with Courtney. We asked very little but we got a whole lot. She listened to our needs before the wedding and met them happily. During the ceremony she must have taken 1000's of photos but we hardly new she was there. She also managed to capture all the highlights and many events we weren't able to see that day. We were very happy with the final photos.

Courtney was the lead photographer for our marathon 5 day Indian-fusion wedding in Durham, North Carolina. This was her first Indian wedding, and she approached the new experience with professionalism, a listening ear, flexibility, and an amazing artistic eye. She not only captured events, but more importantly captured unique moments and the emotions of the weekend.

Her work and final products exceeded many of our expectations. Our families and guest were equally impressed by her work. It was a bit of a nontraditional choice to choose a non-Indian photographer for our Indian wedding, but we were so happy that we found Courtney and that she was up for the challenge.

Importantly, Courtney was a sincere pleasure to work with. By the end of the weekend, she was like an honorary bridesmaid:) Through her photography, we will be able to relive this special event for years to come and also experience moments that we weren't able to see the first time around.

We had an absolutely wonderful experience working with Courtney Potter! She thoroughly captured everything we had hoped for, and she was a flexible and calming presence on our wedding day.

The results are fantastic--we are extremely pleased with her artful candid images and lively posed portraits. All the images (preparation, the ceremony, and the reception) were shot with immense creativity and obvious technical skill.

Courtney is a great photographer. Her pictures are beautiful, memorable, unique, and tell a story. She made a book of selected pictures, which is classic and beautiful. She also provided me with a cd of all the pictures she took (which were many more than in the book). Having both is wonderful! Her business has developed and been refined even more since my wedding, so her services may be different/better than what I'm describing here :)

Courtney did a fantastic job photographing our wedding. She was very easy to work with throughout. I was so impressed with the photos. I don't really like being photographed, but Courtney made me feel comfortable and the pictures were beautiful. She really captured the feeling of the event. I will treasure my photos! Also it was a great value. I was on a budget but what I got was top quality. I couldn't be happier.
