Best Decision We Made

Hiring Amye from Capitol Romance as our day-of wedding coordinator was the best decisions we made for our wedding! From the very beginning, Amye took the time to really get to know us and understand our vision. She was incredibly helpful in managing communication between all our vendors before and during the wedding, ensuring everything was perfectly coordinated. Amye was always responsive, even going above and beyond when we had a hair and makeup crisis—she actually pulled over to take our call and helped us talk through the issue, solving the problem quickly. On the big day, she made sure everything ran smoothly. If there were any problems, we have no idea because Amye handled them behind the scenes, allowing us to enjoy our wedding without a care. We’re so grateful for her exceptional support and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a day-of coordinator!

Hire them!

One of our first decisions was to hire Capitol Romance. We'd talked to a couple other coordinators from other companies, but hit it off immediately with Drew. From the start, Drew was responsive, answered all of our questions, provided vendor suggestions and just made wedding planning easier, which is no small feat. By the time wedding day rolled around, we knew we could trust him to run the day seamlessly, and he did just that, working with all the rest of our vendors, setting everything up per our directions, handling all of the hiccups, making sure we were fed, helping pack up everything at the end of the night. We would work with Drew and Capitol Romance again in a heartbeat.

When we first started talking about our wedding, we weren’t planning on hiring a wedding coordinator, but when our venue requested to have a contact person for the day of the wedding, we reached out to Capitol Romance. Other than choosing to marry each other, hiring a wedding coordinator was the best decision we made for the wedding.

We had the pleasure of having Amye Lee Rheault as our day-of-wedding coordinator. I feel like the word “day-of” is completely misleading, as Amye started working with us five months before the wedding, and she was with us every step of the way from that point on. Amye promptly responded to all of the questions and concerns that we emailed her about (and there were many), she came with us to our venue walkthrough and had great insight, she spent almost three hours meeting with us to determine our wedding timeline and also spent almost two hours coordinating our rehearsal the day before the wedding to make sure every detail was in place. During our wedding, she was there for everything that we could possibly need, including things we didn’t even know we needed. Amye went so above and beyond her job description and also sent me some behind the scenes videos and photos she took throughout our events, which I am incredibly thankful for as we did not hire a videographer.

I really wish that I could give more than five stars because Amye truly was a superhero, not to mention she’s also the sweetest person and was just a joy to have around! Highly highly highly recommend working with Capitol Romance if you’re looking for a wedding coordinator.

Smooth wedding day due to Amye!

Amye from Capitol Romance helped our wedding day go very smoothly! She helped us prep our decor and build our timeline in advance (and her first draft timeline needed very few changes), communicate the logistics with the venue and other vendors, set up our decor the day-of, and managed my stress very well. There were a few hiccups that I'm learning about now a month later because she handled them without even letting me know. She's also type one diabetic like me, and helped me manage my condition on my wedding day. I can't rave about her enough, and I highly recommend Capitol Romance for any DC brides.

Fantastic wedding-Angie was the BEST

We were married on November 11, 2023 and Angie was our coordinator. She was organized, calm, kind and knowledgeable. Our event was in two parts and she really helped with organizing the vendors, keeping everyone on track and keeping us on track in advance of the day. The entire experience exceeded expectations. The Smart Choice!

When looking back on our wedding planning and wedding day, Capitol Romance, and specifically Drew, was the smartest choice we made. The week of our wedding, rain was in the forecast which changed some important parts of the day. Drew made us feel confident in the new plans we had to make. On the day of our event, Drew took care of the entire flow of the day, making sure everything happened according to what we discussed, including helping with pre-ceremony setup. Even though we only hired a month-of coordinator, Drew was willing to step in before that with any questions we had, to give us recommendations for vendors, and to help set up timelines for vendors for the day-of. Drew made us feel like the most important people in the world, and we would recommend Capitol Romance and Drew to anyone that is looking for a day-of or month-of coordinator.

Drew was great!

We hired Drew Archibald as our “month-of” coordinator and it was the best money we spent! From our first call, Drew was so warm and knowledgeable. He helped us design our wedding day timeline, communicated with vendors, set up a wall through at the venue a few days before the wedding, and handled everything on the wedding day itself.

During the wedding, he helped us stick to our timeline, ensured that we were able to eat (!), and made sure everything was packed and vendors were all set before leaving at the end of the night.

Even though he was technically a month-of coordinator, Drew kindly offered that we could reach out to him during our planning with any quick questions. He was always super responsive and helpful.

We were so grateful to have Drew and would recommend him to anyone!

Amazing expereince with Drew and Capitol Romance!

We had Drew from Capitol Romance as our day-of coordinator for our September wedding in DC. Drew was extremely helpful throughout the entire process and really helped keep us organized in the run up to the big day. He did a great job of absorbing our stress! Also we had to make some last minute changes due to weather and we were so glad to have the additional support in getting that done. I would highly recommend Capitol Romance and I think the value is a bargain compared to the quality of services that you get!

We hired Capitol Romance for day-of coordination services and couldn't be happier with our decision! Amye was professional and easy to work with, and helped us get organized leading up to the day. Amye really shined the day-of, where she served as decorator, organizer, coordinator, support system, etc. extraordinaire! She helped our wedding day run smoothly from beginning to end -- we did not have to think about or do anything other than enjoy the day and get married! Amye went above and beyond with personal touches (sending us pictures/videos she captured the day of), setting up and organizing décor, and was able to wrangle and organize a rowdy crew of people during our rehearsal and lead up to the ceremony. Drew with Capitol Romance was a huge support!

We are so happy that we had Drew Archibald with Capitol Romance as our day-of coordinator for our July 2023 wedding in DC! Drew helped us with our timeline and was very available to consult on logistics and answer our questions prior to the big day. And we truly felt that our wedding day itself would not have been the success it was without his help and support. Drew helped us with details and logistics big and small, including putting together a flower arch, supported us through the challenges of two ceremonies with weather changes, and served as point person for multiple vendors and 190 guests. Even more than managing logistics, we appreciated that Drew was always focused on what we, the couple, needed, how we were doing, if we needed a break or to adjust the timeline. My new husband and I are people who are always focused on caring for the other people in our lives, and it meant so much that Drew was there for us, on our special day with so many moving parts! Drew's flexibility, willingness, and pleasant manner along with his capability in coordinating a large, ethnically diverse wedding was so appreciated!

Loved working with Angie!

We were so happy that we booked Capital Romance for our wedding! We worked with Angie as our coordinator, and she was so helpful and easy to work with. She helped us iron out all the timeline details and organize the vendors leading up to the wedding. We had to coordinate 2 hotels, the church and the reception venue which meant there were a lot of elements to get right. But the day ran so smoothly and was low stress for both me and my husband -- all thanks to Angie! She made sure all the details we wanted were there and really ensured our vision came to life. Best money you’ll spend for your wedding!

My fiancé and I worked with Drew Archibald at Capitol Romance as our day of coordinator for our March 11, 2023 wedding - we both agree that it was THE BEST DECISION and the wisest use of our budget for our special day. We brought Drew on slightly less than 30 days before our big day, and he took our vision and made it a reality. After a lengthy onboarding call, Drew was available for questions and walkthroughs - and handled ALL same day logistics. We were able to focus on and enjoy our special day, confident they every last detail would be handled successfully. I cannot recommend Capitol Romance enough, and specifically Drew, for the professionalism, kindness, and peace of mind they brought to our big day.

Absolutely amazing!

Hiring Capitol Romance was one of the best decisions we made in the wedding planning process. Amye was so incredibly helpful - she joined vendor calls and asked questions we would have never thought of, she encouraged me to fight for what I wanted and not let other vendors overpower my preferences, and on the day of she was a lifesaver in dealing with the chaos created by other vendors. I didn't have to worry about the details and could enjoy my wedding because we knew Amye had everything under control. It was clear from day 1, through her helping me take deep breaths before I walked down the aisle, and until the very end of the night that Amye really wanted us to have the best day and she was doing everything possible to help make that happen. My advice to anyone planning a wedding is to definitely hire a coordinator -- especially Capitol Romance!!

Amazing!!!

There is so much to say about Amanda and Bre!!! They are ABSOLUTELY wonderful and helped to make our wedding day so perfect. From the beginning, they were so helpful, super communicative and responsive. On the wedding day, they were so attentive, making sure me and wife had everything we needed (Amanda even got me a drink before toasts started because she saw I was empty handed). Amanda handled all of our vendors and made sure everyone was where they were supposed to be. They were so on top of everything and executed our vision flawlessly. We were able to enjoy our wedding day without any concerns or anxiety because Amanda and Bre were so amazingly professional and handled everything with ease. It was such a perfect day and I have Capital Romance to thank so much for helping us get through the planning process and the wedding day. Bree was a lifesaver!

It was postponed twice due to the pandemic and Bree was invaluable throughout the whole process- giving us planning tips and general recommendations for major and minor things that came up along the way. Incredible job!

Amanda totally exceeded out expectations and made sure our wedding was stress free! We hired Amanda as the day of coordinator for our wedding in February 2020. She was very responsive, gave us great ideas and advice in planning, and was incredibly professional day of. She kept everything running smoothly, was able to pivot and respond to needs as they arose, and she was calm and in control the whole time. It was such a relief to have everything under control. She made sure none of our gifts got lost in the shuffle after the wedding and kept the timelines moving great. We were so grateful that she had everything handled. It made the wedding incredibly special and it was such a relief to not have to worry about the little details day of. She also put out our decorations in a thoughtful and artistic way! The title says it all. Alesha with Capitol Romance really made it so I could sit back and enjoy my wedding day and not worry about a thing. Even though Alesha was our day of coordinator, she was available throughout the entire planning process process with recommendations for different vendors and to answer any questions I had along the way. When we did our walk through, Alesha knew all the questions to ask that I would have never thought of. In the two months leading up to the wedding, Alesha did a great job organizing our other vendors and just getting the plan together. Every bride should at the very least have a day of planner, and Alesha and the rest of the Capitol Romance team did a phenomenal job.

Seamless Day Thanks to Capitol Romance

Early on in our planning process, we weren't convinced we needed a day of coordinator since we were planning a smaller, more intimate ceremony and reception. After meeting Bree over Facetime we changed our mind and are so grateful we did. Leading up to the big day Bree gave us fantastic vendor suggestions (which all panned out perfectly), developed a clear timeline, and eased our family's nerves during the rehearsal. On the day of, everything was executed flawlessly. Bree's easy going and confident nature made both of us feel at ease, and her experience was evident in her suggestions and executions. We worked with Amanda for an August wedding in DC and had such an amazing experience. She was professional in every way imaginable and went above and beyond what we expected from a day-of coordinator beginning even a year before our wedding. Most importantly, on the weekend and day of our wedding, Amanda handled it all. Great Experience with Alesha for Our DC Summer Wedding

Alesha did a fantastic job coordinating our wedding in June 2019 at Josephine Butler Parks Center!
We weren't sure if we needed a coordinator at first since we were planning to do most of the work ourselves, but we quickly realized that we needed someone with wedding planning experience to help us pull everything together. Alesha communicated with vendors, most importantly with our caterer since they needed a lot of information about our guests and seating in order to help flip the same space from the ceremony into the reception. She introduced us to software that helped us easily assign guests to tables and share that information with she and the caterer. The meeting we had a few months out from the wedding was also invaluable since she was able to explain the day-of-timeline and help us prioritize the tasks we still needed to complete leading up the wedding.
While all of the this was incredibly helpful, Alesha's commitment to making our wedding amazing really came through at the rehearsal and on the wedding day. As far as we know, everything went perfectly smoothly and there was nothing to worry about, but in reality I know that anything that came up that day was swiftly handled by Alesha without us even knowing about it. She was also great with our family and friends.
The services Alesha provided were exactly what we needed. She was professional, organized and a joy to work with. I only wish we had hired her earlier in the process to get even more information and tips!

We Loved Our Capitol Romance Wedding!

Capitol Romance was the single best hire we made as part of our wedding process. I'll be honest that I wasn't sure we'd need a day-of coordinator since we are a two fairly detail-oriented and organized people. I was completely wrong. From the moment we met Bree, it was clear to me that: (1) her goal was to make sure that we had a stress-free wedding that matched our vision of the day without us having to worry about execution; and (2) that she knew to think of things that we never would have considered. In the month leading up to the wedding, questions came up where I had no frame of reference, and my husband and I found ourselves constantly saying, "let's just ask Bree." From the little things to the big things, Bree was an organized, responsive, professional, and calm presence. Bree jumped in to smooth things over when our site venue coordinator unexpectedly left the job 10 days before the wedding. Bree expertly addressed our last minute planning anxieties when rain was in the forecast (even though it ended up being beautiful). On our wedding day, we felt completely confident that Bree would handle the inevitable, unexpected issues that came up. In sum, having Bree's support made everything run smoothly, ensured the day was what we wanted, and was a huge reason that we were able to relax and enjoy the once in a lifetime experience. Not to mention, she always gave us her honest take and couldn't have been easier to work with. Do yourself a favor and hire Capitol Romance!

Amazing vendor recommendations and great to work with

We loved working with Amanda for our wedding at St. Francis Hall in Brookland. She was familiar with the venue and had great ideas on layout and setup. Waterfront Winter wedding with Alesha

I was so happy with my entire experience with Capitol Romance! Bree was very responsive when I first reached out. I was put in touch with Alesha and from our first call, I knew she would be a great fit. She is fun and understood our vision. She was able to suggest a hair/makeup vendor for me. I couldn’t have done it without her because my brain was mush leading up to the wedding! Alesha came to the rehearsal and was at my hotel early on Saturday to make sure everything went smoothly. Our church and reception were 40 minutes away from each other, and Alesha did a great job making sure the transition was smooth. I don’t know if there were any problems on our wedding day, because if there were, she handled them and I had no idea! We had a blast and Alesha was such a big part of it. Thank you!!

Fall DC wedding with Amanda

We are so happy with our decision to hire Amanda at Capitol Romance for our wedding coordination. The owner of the company, Bree, was very responsive and the hiring process was easy.

I can't over state how happy we are with Amanda's work. She was very professional, and really took the time to understand what we wanted for our big day. We had an 80 guest wedding at Studio 52. We had total confidence in her experience and knew we were in good hands; we really appreciated that she had worked at our venue before. She was very helpful when we had questions regarding vendors, timeline, etc. The timeline she created for our day was spot-on. Our officiant was unable to attend the rehearsal, so Amanda stepped up and ran the show. On the day of, everything went smoothly. Our greatest concern at our venue was how to flip the ceremony space into reception seating; she assured us it was possible and she and her assistant did a great job setting it all up.

All in all, I think the service Capitol Romance provides is a great value. We did an initial in-person consultation, month-out timeline planning meeting, final venue walk-though and rehearsal. I highly recommend hiring Capitol Romance (and Amanda specifically) for your wedding!

We are so glad we chose Amanda and Capitol Romance!

Amanda from Capitol Romance was absolutely incredible! From the start, she took the time to listen to our vision for the day and worked with us to finesse it. She suggested wonderful vendors and creative ways to approach a reasonable wedding day timeline. We cannot be more thankful for her calming presence and professional demeanor particularly with a hurricane scare in the week leading up to our wedding. She also did a fantastic job organizing last minute details and running our rehearsal for us. She corralled our large, boisterous wedding party with ease and saw that decor set-up went as planned resulting in a seamless, beautiful ceremony. She ultimately executed our timeline flawlessly and kept excellent track of our six vendors at the venue. With Amanda’s help, we were able to remain present throughout the day, have just enough time on the dance floor, and make it to the after party on time! We wouldn’t change a thing and are so glad we chose Amanda and Capitol Romance.

We worked with Alesha from Capitol Romance for our wedding at Mount Airy mansion. Our wedding day was perfect and we largely owe that to Alesha's support and attention to detail! If you are interested in wedding coordination services, I highly recommend working with Alesha.

First, Alesha gave us recommendations for several outstanding vendors, including a hair/makeup artist and a photographer (who I will review separately). My husband and I were planning our wedding on a somewhat condensed timeline (5 months) and were having trouble finding professionals that were in our budget and available on our big day, but Capitol Romance hit it out of the park by suggesting some incredible professionals!

Second, Alesha was SO helpful in thinking through the details of our event. Our venue was very "hands off" in terms of how we wanted to lay out the space and host the event, so it was incredibly useful to get Alesha's expert assistance with a layout and day-of timeline. Alesha helped us identify numerous details in the months leading up to the wedding that we would have otherwise overlooked.

Third, Alesha made sure everything ran SO SMOOTHLY the day of the wedding! I don't know what she did or how she did it, but everything went exactly to plan! In addition to placing our DIY decorations around the venue, she handled any issues that came up on the wedding day without me ever finding out about them! I am sure she spent a lot of time leading up to the wedding ensuring that the venue and other vendors were on the same page. Our wedding was more perfect than we ever imagined thanks to her hard work.

To any couples looking for a coordinator, I highly recommend working with Alesha from Capitol Romance!

Capitol Romance was recommended to us by our catering company to help coordinate our wedding day. Even though we initially did not want a wedding coordinator, having a day-of coordinator was well worth it. We used Amanda Fulton of Capitol Romance as our day-of-coordinator for our wedding at President Lincoln's Cottage in May 2018. She was such a joy to work with! From our first consultation with her, we could tell that she would be the detail-oriented, attentive, friendly, and calming presence we needed on our big day. She helped us identify all of the details for the wedding day that we'd overlooked (where does the decor go? who will set it up? how much transportation do we need? etc., etc.) and guided us to thinking them through without adding any stress to our plates. She helped us plan the ceremony and reception at our rehearsal at the venue, and then executed it to a tee on the big day - even when rain upset our plans! She worked so hard making sure our day wasn't upset by the weather, drying off our guests' chairs and helping direct everyone to the right spots. We were so lucky to have her make our wedding run perfectly, and we'd highly-recommend her to anyone looking for planning and coordination services.

Kara did an amazing job coordinating our wedding! We were on the fence about hiring a coordinator but are so glad that we did! Beyond providing day-of support, Kara was able to help us put together a wedding day timeline and figure out all the necessary logistics. Kara will not tell you what you must do, she will give her experienced opinion and let you decide. On the day of the wedding, while we were off taking pictures, Kara was at the venue greeting vendors and setting up everything as we had planned. Because of Kara, instead of us needing to run around attending to problems, we were able to truly enjoy our wedding.

I had the most amazing experience using Capital Romance for my wedding planning! I cannot recommend them enough :) For reference, I worked with both Bree and Amanda.

I was looking for a wedding coordinator who would be able to provide advice and guidance throughout the wedding planning process, but not someone who would actually plan the wedding *for* me. Capital Romance was perfect for that! I emailed Bree and Amanda with questions, asked for guidance about vendors, got opinions about design, etc. And then having them handle all of the final logistics was SO great. They worked with my vendors to create the floor plan / layout, develop a timeline, and ensure everyone was on the same page. PLUS, they handled everything the day of the wedding. It was such a relief to know I didn't have to worry about it and could just enjoy the day :)

I also really appreciated their attitude about the whole wedding planning process. They were positive, calm, and totally open-minded about my vision for the wedding; willing to be honest and say "that might not work, but here's another idea" if I wasn't sure how to approach something; and super organized and responsive whenever I needed anything.

Our wedding would not have gone as smoothly as it did without Kara's amazing work. She was attentive, professional, responsive, and organized. From the moment we signed the contract, Kara was such a huge help with every single random questions I had or idea I wanted feedback on. She attended our final walkthrough with the venue, where she asked all the right questions and made sure that she understood every little detail for the entire day. She did a great job running our rehearsal and keeping everyone on schedule during the wedding. Most importantly, she was able to set up all of our wedding decor PERFECTLY. I'm not sure how she did it with such little direction from me, but she was able to create our vision and beyond. And everything was packed up and ready to be taken back to our hotel at the end of the night. She must be a magician or something! I received so many compliments from my parents and wedding party about Kara; she was always there when we needed her but wasn't overbearing or imposing. I don't think I'll ever find the right words to express how grateful and blessed to have had Amanda as our coordinator for our wedding at Fathom Gallery. She is so attentive, courteous, hardworking, sweet and such a pleasure to work with throughout the entire process. She was so organized and made sure all our vendors arrived on time and the decor was in place during setup so my husband and I could get ready. During the ceremony and reception, she worked tirelessly to ensure that our event was seamless. And it was! She never stopped working, even after the party was over and it was time to clean up. Alesha was INCREDIBLE!! We had such an amazing experience with her and the Capitol Romance team. Every step of the way, she was so attentive to our needs and requests. You know that you have something going when you want to be friends with your wedding coordinator after the wedding and have a hard time not wanting to e-mail her randomly when you come across something that makes you think of her!

My husband encouraged me to connect with Bree when the wedding planning was getting intense in order to make sure that I would be able to let go on the day of. Step by step leading up to the day, Bree helped me secure hair and make-up, a few vendor loose ends, and communicated with my vendors and venue without me needing to do more than an e-mail introduction. Bree gave me tons of ideas and helped me narrow in on what I "needed" versus what I "wanted."

On the day of the wedding when I walked in to see the tables for the reception, I had to hold back tears. Bree not only turned my vision into a reality, but seemingly saw the wedding dreams that I had and exceeded them. Her calm, professional demeanor made me feel like the wedding was perfect and that nothing went wrong. She moved us along on our timeline and everything we wanted to accomplish on the day, we did!

My only regret is that I didn't seek her out sooner just to have more time talking with her. A true gem of a human!

Hiring Bree as our wedding coordinator was one of the best decisions we made in the course of planning our wedding! I am super type A, and this was actually one of the hardest decisions for me over the course of wedding planning -- I just wanted to make sure we hired someone that I could trust with all of the details. We definitely made the perfect decision with Bree. Leading up to the wedding, she was incredibly professional and responsive, and helped with so many pieces of the wedding from vendor recommendations to problem solving challenges with the space to just reassuring us as things got closer and we got nervous. On the day of, I honestly have no idea if there were any problems because everything went smoothly from my perspective. The set up was perfect, she worked with the caterer to ensure there was a spot for umbrellas and raincoats since we got married on an unseasonably cold + rainy day, and she took care of my now-husband and me, making sure we had everything we needed. More than any of our vendors, she went above and beyond -- plus working with her was FUN. And it was important for me to work with someone whose progressive values (equality, inclusiveness, an openness to all situations and budgets) aligned with ours. I cannot recommend Capitol Romance and Bree enough!! (Oh, also -- before I even thought about hiring Bree, I purchased the physical Capitol Romance wedding planner -- also AMAZING, much more useful than any of other tools I've seen out there on the internet.)

The number one piece of advice we got from friends who weren't that into the whole wedding thing was to hire a day-of wedding coordinator. So the first thing we did was book Bree with Capitol Romance. We had both been independently reading her blog since before we got engaged, so she was really the obvious choice. She is also THE BEST. From our first meeting to our wedding day, working with Bree was like working with a super organized friend who just happens to know everything about weddings. She was very responsive throughout the whole planning process, answering our questions big and small. She reassured us when we thought we were behind, and was great about checking in to make sure that we didn't actually fall behind. And she totally came through for us with some great vendor suggestions when our rehearsal dinner plan fell through. On the day of our wedding, she made sure that all of our vendors were working together and kept everything running smoothly and on schedule. Much to the surprise of some of our guests, our wedding started right on time (so you might want to remind that chronically tardy uncle/friend/cousin not to be late!). The only decisions we had to make were "are you ready to do xxx yet?" or "do you want more food?" Bottom line, Bree is great and we wholeheartedly recommend her.

We hired Kara as our day of coordinator and she did an awesome job! We initially met with her to talk about the vision for our wedding and she got it immediately. Over the next several months she was available to answer any questions we had and reach out to our vendors. Before the big day she met us at the venue for our final walkthrough with all of the vendors and helped us iron out the fine details and gave great suggestions on how to make everything go smoothly. She also came to our home for our rehearsal, which was incredibly helpful since we were just having our friend officiate the wedding, and she let everyone know what they were supposed to do. On the day of our wedding Kara made sure that all of the decor that we worked so hard on was set up exactly how we had planned. Kara communicated super well with all of our vendors. On the day of, our officiant was late and she was able to talk to our DJ about adding some extra music before the ceremony began. The whole day went incredibly smoothly with Kara's help. We didn't have to think too much about anything on the day of because Kara had everything under control. I don't know how we would've made it through without having hired her. Overall Kara was amazing and really helped us to fully enjoy our wedding day. If you're getting married, do yourself a favor and hire Kara/Capitol Romance, you'll be thanking yourself later!

Bree was our wedding day-of coordinator and her work is a huge reason why our wedding day was amazing and and mostly stress free! In the months before the wedding, Bree gave us a lot of support by answering our many random questions, connecting us with former clients for advice about vendors, laying out a wedding day of timeline, and putting together floor plans for the different events of the wedding. For the wedding itself, she managed all of our vendors, put out decorations, helped coordinate things like the first look, and made sure we had drinks and food throughout the night. All of those things were incredibly important, and helped us make sure that we could enjoy our wedding day without worrying if things would get done and wouldn’t need to put friends and family to work. However, it was Bree’s ability to help with the small details that made her help invaluable, such as turning the mother of the bride’s pinned corsage into a wrist corsage with a hair tie because the pinned corsage wouldn’t work or moving some decorations in a way we wouldn’t have even considered. Working with Bree and Capitol Romance was absolutely one of the best wedding planning decisions we made!

I can't say enough of great things about our experience with Capitol Romance and Kara. She was phenomenal! So organized and extremely helpful leading up to the event. She went above and beyond throughout. Was tremendously helpful confirming all final details with our vendors and everyone involved in the wedding. Our April wedding had some dicey weather, but Kara helped us come up with multiple alternative plans as the forecast was changing. We felt over prepared which took off the pressure on the day of the wedding. Everything went smooth from start to finish and she made sure everything stayed on track. Bree was an excellent investment for our October 2015 Washington, DC wedding. She is the best Washington, DC resource for offbeat (and nonoffbeat) weddings (followed closely by her excellent website). She has a great vendor network. We worked with Alesha Wilson as our day of wedding coordinator. She did an amazing job of picking up all the pieces I had organized and put them into reality the day of our reception. She decorated our space, received our vendors, kept everyone on the run of show schedule and packed up all the "keep" items from the reception. She was very professional, and beyond providing day of coordination, she kept us on track with our planning schedule as the day approached.

Thanks to Alesha and Capitol Romance, we had a beautiful and ridiculously fun wedding -- and we spent the 30 minutes before our ceremony started just killing time and relaxing with our families and wedding party while she made sure everything came together. Seriously. That's living the wedding dream.

I was worried that a wedding coordinator would try to pressure me into doing things I didn't care about because that's how it "should" be done (e.g. we didn't do a bouquet toss) or, even worse, wouldn't "get" us and our sense of humor (e.g. we ran through a banner as our wedding departure because why not?).

But as soon as I discovered Capitol Romance and met Alesha, those fears disappeared!

Working with Alesha felt like working with a super-organized, incredibly detail-oriented but somehow still laid-back, funny, and relatable friend. She was enthusiastic about our ideas and "vision" for our wedding, and she provided advice and recommendations that made the day work better and feel even more like us.

The week of our wedding, by the time I saw a question from our venue, Alesha had already replied, so I didn't even have to think about it. At our rehearsal, she offered her cell number to the bridal party so they'd call her, not us, with questions on the big day. On our wedding day, she came early to pick up a ton o' flowers from my apartment (we DIYed the arrangements) and stayed late to make sure everything we needed from the venue got returned to my apartment that night.

We were fortunate to work with an incredible group of talented, kind, and fun vendors for our wedding, and Alesha helped everyone and everything come together for our ceremony and reception. We couldn't have asked for more.

The bottom line: if you're thinking about working with Alesha and Capitol Romance, do it!

Our wedding was in Washington, DC, in August. We had an evening reception at the Carnegie Institution for Science. But we needed some coordination help because neither of us lived in DC while we were planning the wedding, and the venue did not have an on-site wedding coordinator.

We chose Capitol Romance for two reasons: we were impressed by the coordinators, and they offered an affordable price for their services. We were very happy with all of their work, and are glad that we had them.

Alesha was the point person for our wedding. She provided day-of coordination services. We communicated via email with Alesha many times before the event, and in person on two occasions: to work out a timeline for the day, and to do a walk-through of our reception venue. She also had a number of spreadsheets to help us stay organized and keep track of the various vendors.

On the day of our wedding Alesha oversaw all of the set up and break down at our wedding, including helping to make sure the things we wanted to keep from the reception got back to us the next morning. Everything went smoothly, and it was a huge relief to not have to think about vendors or set up on the day of the wedding. Anything we needed during the reception, Alesha made sure it got done.

I would highly recommend Capitol Romance, and Alesha, if you are doing most of the planning for your wedding but need a professional to bounce ideas off of and to take the lead on everything on the actual big day.

We are so grateful we hired Alesha as our day of coordinator for our October wedding. I did all of our planning myself, but when it came to the big day, we knew we wanted someone to be there to make sure it all happened and keep everyone on our timeline. We were originally thinking we could maybe get away without a coordinator - but we are SO grateful we hired Alesha, and that she was available! We hired her just a few weeks before the big day, we had one meeting and minimal emails, and she absolutely delivered! If you are planning your wedding yourself and are on the fence about a day of coordinator - I absolutely recommend it, and Alesha!!

Bree was amazing! I stumbled across her blog before I was engaged, and knew that when the time came, I'd want to work with her. Once I was engaged, before even selecting a venue or a date, I reached out to her for some planning advice, and she was more than willing to help and answer questions. Once we officially hired her for our day-of coordination, she truly became a valuable resource for planning, vendor selection, and just keeping me sane through the whole planning process. She was always quick to respond to my emails, was very organized, and helped make everything run smoothly on our wedding day. She also made sure that my husband and I always had food in our hands, which was amazing, because I'm not sure we would've eaten as much as we did without her. Having Bree and her team coordinate everything on the day of took a lot of stress off myself and my family, so we didn't have to worry about vendors arriving on time, and decorating the venue, etc. She took care of all of that, and we just got to enjoy the day.

When I embarked on the wedding planning process, I was unsure if hiring a day of coordinator was absolutely necessary. Turns out, it was one of the best investments I made for the wedding. Alesha from Capitol Romance was professional, responsive, and most of all, made my wedding day worry free. With the nerves running high on the day of the wedding, I can’t imagine having pulled off such an amazing celebration without Alesha. From planning the timeline and floor plan to running our ceremony rehearsal the day before the wedding to making sure vendors were on the same page, Alesha was a huge help every step of the way. I cannot recommend her services highly enough. Thank you, thank you, thank you for helping to make our day wonderful!

Alesha was such a wonderful help not only on the day of our wedding, but also in the lead up before. Thanks to her input into our timeline, we were not rushed or stressed on the day of the wedding. Her help coordinating with vendors was invaluable, and she made sure we provided her with all the info she needed -- without us having to remember on our own. Her calm, friendly, relaxed personality put everyone at ease, while her quick thinking and impressive organization simultaneously assured us she was on top of everything. And last but certainly not least, she went above and beyond her duties cleaning up and tearing down after the wedding, for which we (and our families) are eternally grateful! We couldn't have asked for more with this budget-friendly option from Capitol Romance.

Wow, where to begin?! Hiring Bree as our day of wedding coordinator was easily one of the best decisions that my husband and I made during the wedding planning process. I had followed the Capitol Romance blog for a while and found her approach to weddings so refreshing (hello scary expensive traditional DC wedding scene!) and so aligned with our thinking about our own wedding, so it was a no brainer to reach out to her. After we met for the first time, she totally put at us ease with her laid back, yet highly organized and straightforward approach. Bree is the perfect (and rare) combination of really easygoing and fun, but also super detail-oriented and on top of EVERYTHING. From then on it was an absolute breeze working with Bree (play on words not intended!). She is SUPER responsive to emails (a bride's dream!) and gives helpful, honest feedback and advice. The day-of timeline she created for us became THE essential wedding document and helped us stay organized. As the wedding approached, it was such a relief to know that we had Bree in our court when questions big or small came up. Finally, on the day of our wedding, Bree and her team did an outstanding job executing our timeline, coordinating all of our vendors, ensuring that everything stayed on course, and that all of our setup/decorations were taken care of. She was able to anticipate our needs and always seemed to be there right at the moment we needed her! Overall our wedding day went so smoothly and it was in large part due to having hired Capitol Romance. The best thing about Bree is that she truly cares so much for her clients. She becomes invested in them and their happiness on their special day. In addition to having such a fantastic professional experience with Bree, we also feel that we have gained a friend. Clearly we just cannot say enough good things about working with this fabulous rock star entrepreneur who is disrupting and changing the wedding scene in DC for the better! Thank you Bree!

We hired Bree from Capitol Romance as our day of coordinator and I can honestly say it was one of the best decisions we made. She was wonderful. She took care of everything and that allowed us to enjoy the day. Prior to the day, she did a great job of keeping us on task and helped us really focus on what we wanted from our nuptials.

She was very professional and friendly. She understood our vision and even helped develop checklist for the event and vendors. Our wedding day was a success because we went with Capitol Romance for wedding coordination.

Given that Bree's blog Capitol Romance was the first one I started reading after I got engaged (and I might've been reading before I got engaged...), she was an obvious choice for day-of coordinator. It didn't hurt that she was also the best value in the DC area. My husband and I went back and forth on whether we needed a day-of coordinator, but in the end we decided there was a bunch of stuff we just didn't want to have to think about on our wedding day, and the added benefit of having someone else put together a comprehensive timeline for the day, as well as lay-outs of how the space would be organized, was well worth it. The conclusion after the fact? It totally was!

Bree is SO easy to work with and very responsive to emails. Despite the fact that we only hired her for day-of services, we met with her well ahead of time so that she knew what we were looking for and so that she could come up with our timeline and event space lay-outs. After that initial meeting, she also went to the space with us for a final walk-through with the caterer to ensure she knew our vision for the day down to every last details. Additionally, she was very responsive to emails and recommended multiple vendors to us that we ended up using and were thrilled with. She really was a great resource throughout the planning process.

On the day of the wedding, Bree dealt with everything at the venue while we got ready and took photos, so that we didn't have to worry about any issues with the vendors. She even dealt with annoying family member issues like a pro - I felt so bad that she had that extra stress, but she made sure that we didn't have to deal with it at all and didn't even show us that she was stressed. She dealt with all the little issues of the wedding that we didn't want to care about on the day of so that we could just have an amazing time celebrating with our loved ones. I HIGHLY recommend hiring her, even if you're not 100% sure you want a coordinator.

Hiring Bree was hands down one of the best decisions we made in the entire wedding planning process. We envisioned a non-traditional ceremony and reception on a budget, and quickly became overwhelmed by options and sky-high prices. Bree helped us make sure everything we planned was feasible, pointed out potential snags to plan for, and endlessly gave us more and more options for vendors and cost-cutting ideas. She quickly responded to any and all emails, with questions ranging from last-minute decor emergencies to how to get a friend ordained in DC. We ended up with the perfect wedding that felt totally and completely "us," and Bree ran the show day-of, keeping us stress-free and happy as can be. We can't thank her enough!

Bree was wonderful! I set up our initial consultation before we even moved to the area last summer. After our first meeting I told my wife that I didn't care who else we hired for our wedding, I had to have Bree as our coordinator. She worked tirelessly with us over the past 9 months, keeping us excited yet grounded (I can be a little neurotic and stressy!). She was always quick to respond to any email and thought of every possible question, even when I thought I had covered everything! On our day of, she was in 4 places at once and calmly took care of some last minute decor hiccups that had me on the brink of tears. Any question I had, she had an answer for me. I've gotten so many compliments from guests and vendors alike regarding Bree's awesomeness. We honestly can't thank her enough and continue to recommend her to friends and strangers alike.

Bree literally made our wedding possible. Bride #1 (me) started looking around at venues. Sticker shock! All we could afford for our ceremony and reception were a nearby park and our own home. Bride #2 freaked out because she thought an at-home wedding would be too much pressure to entertain. She wanted to elope. I still wanted to wear dresses and take fun pictures. Back-forth-back-forth. Enter my awesome blog find, Capitol Romance, and accidentally discovering Bree was making her coordination debut. I was ready to pull the trigger -- Bree thought is was prudent to meet first so we agreed. Turns out I was right!

Bree made it possible for us to have a totally "us" day, on a budget, in our own home, without feeling like we had to run around entertaining the whole time. She was full of ideas when we needed them, but always welcoming and supportive to our final decisions, implementing them with ease. Bree is gracious, fun, insightful, quick and easy to communicate with. She kept us informed of possible issues without overwhelming us and increasing our anxiety. She's also a lot more organized than I am!

Bree was awesome throughout the whole planning process, but when it came down to the wire, she really performed. She and her helper (her mom for our wedding) arrived at our house early while we were getting ready, and set up. They navigated around ten houseguests to dress tables, finish the self-serve bar, ensure the area for catering staff was ready, put out last-minute decor, etc. Bree also put together our simple-but-awesome setup at the park for our ceremony while we were off with the photographer. After months of DIYing and Pinteresting our hearts out, everything turned out just a little more perfect than we pictured.

In summary, we had a blast on a budget, and Bree made that possible. She could have charged double her fee and it still would have been well worth the quality and service we received.

Absolutely wonderful. Our wedding could not have been as amazing at it was without Bree's help. Communication was excellent, she found time to meet with us which was great since we both live about an hour from each other. All of the designs and suggestions were great, and everyone I talked to at the wedding commented on how great everything looked. This was in no small part thanks to Bree. The rehearsal and day of coordination was just as good. Everything went off without a problem. I would definitely recommend Capitol Romance to anyone who's looking for help planning and coordinating their wedding.

Bree is a godsend. She is smart, funny, creative, and so organized that she puts all your wedding worries at ease. I found her when I started reading wedding blogs about how to plan a budget, DIY wedding in the District. My husband and I were on a tight, small budget and I didn't know if this could translate to reality. So, after reading Bree's blog, I emailed her and she immediately responded with such warmth and love that I had to meet her.
Fast forward to many months later and Bree became one of the most instrumental people in our planning process. She recommended the most lovely vendors to us from our photographer and florist to the DJ and we couldn't be happier in working with this specific team of people. Although she just started this business, she has managed to meet and work with some of the most talented people I know and will not hesitate to give you any type of help you need. From email therapist about wedding woes to organizing my day of activities with such finesse, I feel so lucky to have found Bree. She really can do everything.
I would be remiss if I also didn't mention Andy, her awesome husband. They are quite the power couple and helped turn our wedding venue into the vision we had in mind. I had purchased some pom poms from etsy that I wanted hung over the dance floor. Unfortunately, the pom poms didn't come with hooks like I thought and so instead of worrying me, Andy managed to turn the pom poms into a work of art above our DJ table. I didn't even know there was a problem and it looked better than I imagined.
Bree is more than a wedding planner/consultant and has now become our friend. I want to get married all over again, just so I can hang out with her. I loved working with her every step of the way and cannot recommend her enough. Best money spent!

Bree was absolutely amazing! My husband and I had not initially planned on a day-of wedding coordinator but just a short time into planning our wedding we realized having someone at our big day to take the pressure off of us, our parents and our bridal party was essential. When we met with Bree we knew before we left the meeting that she would be a perfect fit for helping execute our day flawlessly.

Bree’s value to our wedding day was 10 times higher than her fee. She has a ‘go get it’ attitude that will be sure to make any bride happy. Some of the services Bree provided were: budgeting and timeline tracker spreadsheets, a walkthrough of our venue with the caterers, impeccable response timing to the one million emails I sent her, she picked up and dropped off wedding decorations at our apartment before and after the wedding, Starbucks run the day of the wedding, emails to all our vendors the week before the wedding, passed out the tips to vendors the day of the wedding, helped create a breakdown of the wedding day from start to finish and made our dream wedding come true without a hitch!

The personalization Bree added to our wedding was priceless and we recommend her to any DC couple seeking wedding coordination services with the highest of value and highest of quality!

Bree, with Capitol Romance, was an absolute life saver for our wedding. We decided to move our date up and get married with less than 3 weeks planning time (and I live out of state). Luckily we had researched and found Bree through her blog and already planned to hire her. We had a tight schedule, tighter budget and slightly unique ideas. Bree recommended great vendors that met our price range and style, narrowing the vast sea of choices down to a small handful of trusted options. Communication was excellent and she was there EVERY time I needed her. She handled all the day of coordination and our wedding was amazing! We had a public, yet intimate wedding, on the lawn of the Jefferson Memorial, a pedi-cab ride and photos in the area, and dinner afterwards. She helped us with little things we missed (like remembering to bring the marriage license!) and made sure our day was stress free. I can't imagine having planned our wedding without her. And did I mention she is totally affordable? Although we think she was priceless!

Having Bree of Capitol Romance be a part of our day as the wedding coordinator was one of the best decisions we made! Bree brought all her experience and knowledge of weddings and the wedding industry to our day, making it run smoothly. She beautifully laid out the decorations I had already made, but also added in her own extra details that made it unique and fit perfectly with the feel of the wedding. As soon as my husband and I started planning our wedding, it became clear that we were going to need some professional help with it, since neither of us wanted something very traditional and wanted to keep things really local. Enter: Bree.

A friend of ours had worked with her before, and mentioned she was starting a wedding coordination business. When I saw the post on her blog of a shoot she set up with a super classy Harry Potter theme, I knew it was going to be the perfect fit for us. And sure enough, it was!

Bree helped us find local vendors for our decor, gave me ideas for different ways we could decorate the space, cool little accents that represented us as a couple, and helped out with general wedding etiquette questions that I would never have even thought about. And of course on the day-of she made sure everything went so smoothly with the venue, the vendors, the reception setup, the ceremony, and basically everything! Weddings are stressful, and she dealt with our moments of panic, and sometimes sticker shock (who the hell wants to spend that much money on flowers????), with a coolness that totally put us at ease and always had a backup plan ready. She's on top of of everything, and it took such a weight off.

I can't imagine having done this without her amazing help. It all turned out perfectly, and it felt so very "us" which is just what we wanted. I'm so glad that she helped make our wedding day so wonderful, and I'm glad she was a part of it.

Amanda was attentive and resourceful

We enjoyed working with Amanda. We were pretty organized ahead of our day, but wanted the peace of mind knowing someone could take care of everything to run the show that day. She was excellent at the venue walk-through, offering some suggestions to catering in the hopes of saving us money, and made everything come together at the wedding! She was on top of our food/drinks, and brought us dessert, found stuff in the back room for us, etc. Highly recommend having a day-of person in general, and we were really pleased with Amanda. Thank you!

We hired Amanda Fulton for our June wedding at Raspberry Plain Manor in Leesburg, Va. Best decision ever! She was very organized, attentive, and professional during all our meetings, emails, and the big day! She even went above her duties and picked up some “missed” items for our big day when I was in a crunch. She was behind the scenes all day managing situations that I’m sure I wasn’t even aware of which means she did her job right ;) My Mom was so happy to have her as a point person all evening and she always met our needs! I started reading Bree's blog when I was first thinking about my wedding, so I was delighted to see that she runs a coordination business too! We had a casual pizza party wedding and at first the idea of a coordinator seemed like overkill.

Then we realized that people were flying in from all over America for this shindig, and that we are not event planners.

Amanda/Capitol Romance was a godsend. The decision to have a coordinator brought us so much peace of mind during the planing process, and it really felt like some of the best money we spent. We were delighted to work with Amanda, who was responsive, organized, and also a lovely person who is fun to be around. 10/10 would recommend and use again.

Wedding coordination with Amanda

We originally hired Amanda to help with day-of coordination for our wedding in fall 2018. The venue had an event manager assigned to us, but I was still nervous about all of the moving pieces and ensuring the day ran smoothly (especially the getting ready and photos which took place outside of the venue).

We did an initial in-person consultation, month-out timeline planning meeting, final venue walk-though and rehearsal. Amanda was extremely helpful in understanding our needs and responsive to my emails and questions (I was planning the wedding from overseas). I am someone who works in management and logistics, so being able to hand over everything on the day-of was invaluable. She worked seamlessly with the venue manager, filled in the gaps (they had some restrictions on what specifically they would do in terms of set up/pack out), and handled my nutty extended family. I was told by multiple guests afterwards just how thoughtful and helpful she was. Highly recommend!
