    Artistic vision + details + organization + vendor relationships + true expertise + magic = Sara

    When my fiancé and I started planning our microwedding 8 weeks in advance of our wedding, we thought, "we'll reserve a private room or patio at a restaurant, invite our family, hire a photographer, and call it a wedding." Well, you hire a photographer and set a venue, and then you think — wouldn't it be great if we really looked nice in photos and so we did hair and makeup? And then what about an actual ceremony and officiant? And maybe some ceremony music? What about the timeline for doing hair and makeup morning-of? And maybe a florist to make that garden patio into a beautiful secret garden? By the time we had venue, florist, photographer, hair & makeup — I realized that we needed a planner, otherwise I was going to spend the day of my microwedding coordinating vendors.

    At first, I started interviewing day-of and month-of coordinators and planners who specialized in events management and logistics. Looking for day-of and month-of is how I found Sara — and thank GOODNESS I found this amazing, hysterically funny, master-of-her-craft, true industry expert creative genius — because she *knows things about wedding planning I simply do not know.* She asked questions I did not know to ask, that helped extract the vision I had in my head and turn it into first a proposal — that helped me realized she was the right fit for us — and then, over 8 weeks, a reality on April 29, 2022 at Iron Gate in DC.

    What's it like to work with Sara to plan your wedding? The thing about Sara is she seems so cool and low-key, that when you're the bride you legitimately enjoy talking on the phone with her and emailing with her, etc., yet behind the scenes she is working true detail-oriented organization magic so that day-of your wedding is flawless. Sara will also push you to make decisions and also talk you out of bad ideas 24 hours before the wedding that you, in your head at 1:00 a.m., suddenly come up with (rearranging the photo timeline!). Sara is what every bride NEEDS in a wedding planner. She is not a pushover, but she is also not bossy. She is a confidante and advisor who will listen to you and also give advice that comes from her many years of experience in the industry.

    The weeks leading up to the wedding, I realized that Sara knew EVERYONE. All the vendors. All the events managers. The rental people. The chair people. The bra people. The people who can tailor your bra. (I didn't do that, but if you want to, Sara will make it happen for you.) You're doing your walkthrough at the venue and drinks are appearing and thank-you notes and extra food. And then, ALL the vendors LIKE Sara and will hustle for her, bend the rules for her (cough, cough... dog as ring bearer at a restaurant that doesn't allow dogs...) and make sure everything is on time. So that morning of the wedding, you are the bride, getting your hair and makeup done, everything is going to run on time for you. Your flowers are going to get delivered perfectly, your venue will be beautiful, you are going to walk down the aisle and have a magical, unforgettable ceremony and beautiful reception. And that's all because of Sara.

    Best planner in dc

    My husband and I remarked many times in the wedding planning process that having a wedding is kind of like running a corporation. We are here to tell you that you want Sara as your Chief of Staff. She is hands down the best Wedding Planner in DC and executed our very specific vision 100x over and made our wedding more beautiful and special than we could have dreamed. She's well respected among the best vendors in DC which makes everything easier - from the band that gave us the best music, to the loveliest makeup artist on the planet, to outrageously gorgeous flowers, to a warm candlelit dinner party vibe,  to exquisite paper, along with multiple religious elements that were all full of meaning and intentionality, and SO much more, she totally "got" us and what we needed and what we were willing to budget for each aspect of our wedding. Hiring Sara is an investment, but you are investing in every aspect of your wedding being exactly as you want it to be, she'll make it happen. Our families and friends remarked that our wedding is one that they will remember forever as a monumentally special moment in their lives.

    A wedding fairy godmother

    Hiring Sara is without a doubt the best wedding decision we made (except picking each other). Like many others, our 2020 wedding had to be postponed to 2021. Sara helped us navigate the challenging the postponement, helping deal with all our vendors and reviewing new contracts and covid requirements. She is very tuned into the planning community so she could tell us how other vendors were handling things, where the industry was headed, and what is fair/not fair to expect. And when our venue became a mass vaccination site 8 weeks before our wedding, she managed to find us a new venue and re-design all the piece that come with a change like that. We would not have made it through the chaos and stress. Do yourself a favor, hire Sara immediately.

    Creative and Calm Planner! Look no further!

    We loved working with Sara to help create a comfortable tented environment for a stunning at-home wedding. So many logistics and vendors to schedule but Sara was calm through it all. And the wedding STARTED at 11am the Saturday after Thanksgiving! Sara communicated with all vendors to make sure the family was able to enjoy their holiday while literally building an event venue in their backyard. THAT is a whole lotta awesome! We look forward to working with Sara on future events!

    Thank God for Sara!

    What can I say about Sara (and her amazing team!!!) she is recognized in Washingtonian, Martha Stewart, and many more and has every right to be. Her execution of the day was flawless. She took care of everything and made sure we were on track for everything. We hired her for day of coordination, but she was engaged with us almost 8 weeks before. She literally lifted off any weight from our shoulders. I honestly don't think this wedding could have been executed this well without Sara. Yes-- she is a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for. She was my first hire of all my vendors and she is the best decision i ever made. She is very responsive, flexible, and is willing to make sure your vision gets executed. We had a fully Indian wedding (known for running behind...way behind) and she had us almost exactly to our timeline. If I could recommend anyone its Sara. Her service is above par and she is not only a wedding planner but a great shoulder to cry on/vent to/have a freak-out moment, etc. She is also great post-wedding to make sure that everything gets wrapped up!

    Sara has been recognized by the Washingtonian, Grace Ormande, Martha Stewart Weddings and more (http://www.bellanottedc.com/index.php/press/). She has incredible amount of energy, is insanely detail oriented, is just about as fun as it gets, and remembers everything. I could not have pulled off the wedding of my dreams without her. She is expensive, but worth it. She saw my vision and made it happen. She has amazing vendor contacts. She negotiated to get my vision into price points I could manage. She knew the folks at our venue, and they loved her - and let us bend the rules in just a few places. She is a miracle worker. She books up early and often. Reach out early in the process.

    I hired Anne for 'day of' services before she joined Belle Notte and it was the best money I spent for my wedding! She was extremely organized, accounted for everything in my 'vision' and made recommendations for things I wasn't thinking about/considering. On the day of the wedding she was there as soon as we had access to the facility and ensured everything was set up according to my specifications. She kept the wedding on track (that alone was worth the money) and made sure I didn't worry about a thing. I highly recommend Anne!

    One of the best decisions I made was asking Whitney to help with day of planning. There is no way we could have enjoyed our wedding day as much as we did if it wasn't for her. Time and time again she went above and beyond to ensure everything we discussed in advance was perfect. I was so thankful for her advice and recommendations - which were always provided in a timely manner - along the way. I can't say enough good things about Whitney & her team. She truly made my vision come alive!

    Sara, you are the best! You were the best money we spent on the entire wedding. As mother of the bride, I enjoyed the wedding so much because you were behind the scenes keeping us on time (even ahead once!) and in order. I had pure fun because of you. I had no idea we had a few small "fires" because you had taken care of them so quickly and easily. You worked with all the other vendors so well and they were also very complimentary to you. I can't say enough great things about you! Thank you so much! (As a day of planner, Sara touched base with all vendors the week of the wedding and knew everything that was happening. She is very cheerful and has great organizational skills.)

    I cannot say enough good things about working with Whitney Press at Bella Notte! I was a very hands-on bride, and my parents were very involved with the planning process as well, so I was nervous about bringing another person into the mix. Whitney, though, was a dream come true. She listened to our ideas and sometimes differing opinions, and with the most amazing attitude and professional expertise, helped us to make decisions together and to enjoy my engagement at times that could have otherwise been very stressful moments of the planning process. After meeting with Whitney for the first time and immediately clicking with her, I went with the day-of coordination, which included working with the planner in the six weeks prior to the wedding. I had already chosen most of my vendors, so where her help was invaluable, in addition to being like a friend and a therapist to me and my mom, was in her work with us to create the complex wedding day timeline down to every detail and her confirming information with all of the vendors. My wedding involved a church ceremony and an elegant ballroom reception for about 300 guests, and it went perfectly. Whitney's presence and direction at the rehearsal, before and after the ceremony, and during the reception was flawless. Her services were priceless. I highly recommend Whitney and Bella Notte!

    I would not have ever thought that I needed a day of coordinator, but wanting a sparkler exit at The W Hotel is a tricky task, and Sara was the person for it. She was the BEST amount of money I could have spent, and she made sure that my entire wedding was pure perfection. She is a gem to work with, and the world's most organized and enthusiastic planner I have ever met. She is a doll, and I am so glad we met, I know she will be a special part of my life forever!

    As a former events planner I hadn't intended on hiring a wedding planner. It didn't take long for me to realize that planning my wedding was unlike any other event I'd ever planned before and I was quickly over my head. All my vendors from my invitation designer to my make -up artist began telling me I'd be wise to hire a day-of planner and they ALL recommended the same person - Sara at Bella Notte. It is quite possible that the money I spent to work with Sara was the very best I've ever spent. I started calling her my "wedding therapist" as opposed to wedding planner for the piece of mind and guidance she provided. Sara has a calming and fun presence and is very direct when necessary (with a gentle hand) - the entire day of the wedding went like clockwork thanks to her. I can't imagine having done it without her and I would recommend any bride our there to hire Sara for their planner, even if it's only for the day-of! You will be happy you did!

    whitney & sara, there are no words to share w/ you how happy you all made each one of us! your guidance through these last few weeks so impressed me, that I was hardly surprised at your EXPERT coordinating of our daughter's wedding day (and rehearsal!). everything was perfect, and I so appreciate all that you did for us... from the first moments, greeting us at church for rehearsal, to the final minutes, delivering the wedding dress to our room after the happy couple departed— you handled everything w/ such grace and subtlety.

    two points for future brides: the talent agency we hired the band thru, told us 10days before wedding that they were unable to perform. they gave us a list of bands' names, and we went to listen to one a week before event! whitney became our go-to person,firming up a contract w/ our new band (which turned out to be awesome!). what impressed me most, was her direct professionalism in solving this problem-- her goal was not to worry about why band A fell thru, but to find the best band for our wedding- which she did!
    secondly, upon whitney & sara's recommendation, we chose to use professional lighting for the ballroom-- the room looked magnificent, and i am most grateful to them for their honest suggestion.
    my husband is a solid businessman type, and didn't know much about wedding planners! so, it is a true compliment to sara & whitney, when, after our walk-thru w/ them at our club, he said how impressed he was, and that hiring bella notte was a very wise choice in planning our daughter's wedding... i totally agree!

    My husband and I cannot say enough to endorse Sara at Bella Notte. She was a total lifesaver. I am a wedding photographer and have been married before, and neither of us wanted a big wedding. No problem, right? We decided to get married in our backyard and had less than 40 guests, so we figured we could handle it ourselves. Wrong! Thank goodness we wised up and got Sara on board! We had an initial meeting with her and she immediately pointed out half a dozen things we hadn't considered. "Have you made sure the neighbors' landscapers aren't going to be working that afternoon?" Umm, nope. "Have you thought about how you're getting home from the afterparty?" Whoops, forgot that little detail.

    Sara did everything from suggesting an amazing place for our after-party (we went to check it out and decided halfway through our first drink that we loved it!), to helping us find other vendors, to providing some serious moral support when planning and family drama got in the way of all the positive aspects of the day. She took care of things so we didn't have to worry, which allowed us to relax and enjoy the day we had designed to celebrate our marriage. She made sure we got enough to eat, rounded up wandering cousins for photos, and even helped my husband orchestrate a surprise song he wanted to sing to me! By the end of the day, Sara felt more like family than our wedding planner... we even grabbed her for a photo with us! If you're unsure of whether or not a planner is worth it, trust us: the service Sara provides is invaluable.

    Can I give six stars? Even that wouldn't be enough to tell you how wonderful Sara Bauleke was and is. The smartest move we made was hiring Sara for our "month-of" planning. We thought we'd save some money my handling all of the arrangements ourselves. What were we thinking? After watching a bride scream into her phone at the florist that was an hour late delivering her bouquet on one of the cable wedding shows (fess up, you watch them too) we began our search. Sara came highly recommended by our photographer, Deb Lindsey. We liked Sara's energy and that she was excited about our wedding! The last month she swooped in, reviewed our contracts, pointed out things I'd missed (um, like my Dad's boutonniere), made recommendations on final menu choices, secured additional hair and make-up artists for the wedding party, and created a timeline, starting with the rehearsal, that told everyone exactly where they needed to be and when. Best of all, she remade my bouquet on my wedding day. After I told the florist I didn't want a big bouquet (I used the word "basketball") they delivered a basketball, leaving it at the front desk of the hotel. I quickly called Sara and she was immediately on the phone with the florist. They said they couldn't do anything about it, but Sara saved the day and I walked down the aisle with a lovely bouquet. (How ironic that what prompted me to seek out a wedding planner was a bridal melt down over missing bouquets!!) Sara kept us on schedule at the reception and made sure we had something to eat, including a plate of hors d'oeurves when we arrived at the reception after photos at the church. Finally, we had a wedding planner at our church and Sara worked with her seamlessly. There were no turf issues and even though they'd never met, they paired up quickly as a team making sure our ceremony was a beautiful as possible. Hire Sara--it will be the best money you ever spend.

    Sara was the only wedding planner I interviewed, since we clicked right away. I loved her high energy level and her rigorous organization -- I knew she was the perfect choice for helping us plan a gorgeous wedding for 100+ guests in Arlington from 10,000 miles away. Sara was available to us via email throughout the year of planning and was invaluable in recommending vendors, providing advice and reminding me when important deadlines were coming up. She also did a beautiful job in day-of coordination, keeping unruly groomsmen in check, reorganizing the entire floor plan when the tent company made a mistake and running interference with our hotel when it messed up on the night of the wedding, making calls well past midnight to the hotel management. I would recommend Sara to any bride in the D.C. area. I don't know what I would have done without her and would have spent twice as much for he services!

    I knew Sara was "the one" from the first moment we spoke. I was completely overwhelmed and wondering if it was even possible to throw a beautiful, but affordable wedding at the venue I selected. I called her in a complete panic and she spent 45 minutes on the phone with me, reassuring me and guiding me before I even hired her. When we met in person, it was even better. Sara was organized, energetic, knowledgeable and so much fun to be around. Hiring her to coordinate our wedding was the easiest and best decision we made. Sara guided us through every step of the process. She kept us organized, introduced us to wonderful vendors and made sure our wedding day was flawless. She met with us in person several times throughout the planning process, was extremely responsive by email and was willing to talk on the phone whenever necessary...especially in those final weeks when things get really crazy. When I changed my mind about wanting to hire a videographer about 10 days before my wedding, Sara found one that was fabulous.

    On our wedding day I didn't have to worry about anything. I truly handed the day over to Sara with full confidence that everything would be perfect and it was.

    Sara is so much more than a wedding planner. She is kind and thoughtful. She takes a genuine interest in her clients and always made us feel like we were the most important wedding on her books, even though we know she was working with tons of other couples.

    I simply don't have enough positive things to say. Sara is the best! I would recommend her without hesitation to anyone.

    My mom and I hired Sara (owner) for day of/month of coordination, but she was so much more than just a organizational wedding coordinator. She worked with me (local) and my mom (in california) tirelessly from when we hired her until my wedding. She was very flexible with meetings beyond the one month parameter, meeting with my wedding coordinator at our venue for our tasting and walkthrough and with me and my mom when she was in town for a visit.

    We did a lot of work on the wedding before we met sara but her recommendations for for vendors that we had not yet hired were great.

    Sara was a great go-between for me and my mom. When I wanted things a certain way, she advocated for me to my mom and even sometimes my fiance!

    Her timeline was amazing and I've had bride-to-be friends ask to borrow it because of how perfectly our wedding flowed.

    She did a great job handling all the last minute vendor confirmations and dealing with problems that came up in the week before our wedding so I didn't have to worry about it.

    Sara was very prompt, responsive, and thorough. I only would have to say, "could you please look at this?" and it would be done perfectly that day.

    She handled our rowdy bridal party at the rehearsal perfectly and got us everywhere the day of ontime and looking great.

    Sara was truly amazing and my fantastic and beautiful wedding would not have been possible without her hard work! THANK YOU SARA!

    This is probably the most belated, but the most deserved wedding review I have done here (I got married in June). Sara Bauleke, the owner, is energetic, organized in professional. Her recommendations for vendors (in particular: cake, florist, DJ) saved me time AND money. She also has really good advice for anything wedding related. My husband, family, guests, and I had an AMAZING time. My multicultural/interfaith wedding (Filipino/Jewish/Catholic) went off without a hitch!

    Sara is AMAZING! My husband and I were married in May 2010 and Sara made the day memorable, elegant, fun...the list goes on.

    It's hard to even begin to put into words how instrumental and incredible Sara was, but I'll do my best. My husband and I were looking for a planner who would help with vendors and offer great ideas, but would also let our personality shine through. Sara was perfect for this! Sara listened carefully to what we wanted and was able to line up perfect vendors for us. She had the greatest, most fun ideas for our reception as well. Her judgment and eye for design and style is incredible! Sara made the planning process completely stress-free, as I always trusted her recommendations and didn't need to spend tons of time trying to find vendors. I also appreciated that the vendors Sara recommended all had wonderful personalities and were equally great to work with.

    In addition, Sara was always available for consultation and easy to get in touch with. She is extremely detail-oriented, which I especially appreciated, as I was applying to business school and planning a move through the wedding planning process as well. I should mention that we hired Sara for the partial planning option, but there was nothing that felt "partial" about what Sara did, as she always went above and beyond what was required.

    Sara was also great at working with everyone - myself, my husband, and my mother. Everyone loved her, and by the time the wedding rolled around, it felt like Sara was part of the family. Although my wedding was several months ago, I still miss my daily interactions with Sara, but am happy that we still keep in touch (I have since moved to Boston).

    Finally, the "day of" was completely flawless due to Sara. As the bride, I literally had nothing to worry about and was able to fully enjoy the day. As it turned out, we had several mini-disasters that day (it rained and the limo broke down), but Sara was always in charge and ready with a solution - and I never felt upset! As another contributor wrote, there were several other small issues that cropped up that day but I never knew about it until after the wedding, as Sara went ahead and took care of everything.

    If you need additional convincing, our guests, to this day, still say that our wedding is the best one they have ever been to. I know that the sentiment is due to all of Sara Bauleke's great work.

    Bottom Line: Sara and her team at Bella Notte were invaluable assets to my March 2010 DC wedding. Sara and her team were consummate professionals and were one of the best, if not THE best, investment(s) we made for our wedding. Bella Notte allowed my wedding day to be one of the absolute BEST, most BLISSFUL days of my life.

    Let me start at the beginning...

    My Atlanta-based mother and my DC-based self had been searching for a day-of coordinator, as we are both the anxious/worrying type, and really wanted to relax and enjoy the wedding day without worrying about all of the last minute details. After scouring and through various websites (including Wedding Wire), reading the Washingtonian wedding guide, and getting input from other DC brides, we found Bella Notte. My mother and I liked Sara immediately and made sure to reserve her services ASAP. Sara was extremely responsive from the start and had a genuine enthusiasm for our ideas and great suggestions for any initial wedding day worries.

    Fast-forward to eight weeks before the wedding. My mother had been in a serious accident and likely would be in the hospital until the week before the wedding. I was beside myself about what to do--I didn't even want to have the wedding if my mother wouldn't be able to be there; however, my mother urged me to go forward with planning and told me to contact Sara immediately and let her know the situation.

    After a day of wallowing in the "what-if's" Sara helped me spring back into wedding action. The next eight weeks were filled with a flurry of e-mails and phone calls between Sara, myself, and all the vendors involved--all the while Sara and myself keeping my mother in the loop, so she still felt involved in the planning, even if she couldn't participate herself.

    The wedding went off without a hitch--in fact--my parents, my fiance's parents, and myself all received multiple compliments regarding how "perfect" the wedding was--how no detail was left unchecked--how smoothly the day went. This was due to Sara and her amazing team. Sara created detailed timelines for hair and makeup, helped coral the bridesmaids and the groomsmen, helped ensure everyone was on time for the rehearsal dinner, arranged transportation for all the guests and the bridal party to the chapel and back to the Reagan Center--to include overcoming all wheelchair obstacles for my mother, all the while keeping in constant radio contact with her assistants, the Reagan Center, and the transportation.

    She was a MIRACLE worker. Not only does Sara make "effortless perfection" seem, well, effortless---she does it with a smile and never, ever seemed stressed and/or flustered. Seeing how calm and in control Sara was at all points during the planning process really helped me relax and give the reigns over to Sara at our rehearsal. On the actual wedding day, Sara was always there, and yet never in the way. Every concern was covered. If there were any problems, I never knew about them, as they never made it to my attention. She even made sure I had my favorite flavor of cake at the end of the night, as I'd made my love of cake known at an earlier meeting.

    My now-husband and I have commented how after our wedding, we felt like Sara was a friend. She's just that genuine and personable. She's is an AMAZING force in her field, yet is modest and unassuming. We really enjoyed sharing the sharing our wedding planning (and actual wedding day) with Sara. In fact, we have a photo-booth picture of Sara and her assistants in our wedding guest book, and it's one of our favorite pictures.

    If you are looking for a day-of coordinator--look no further--Sara and her team at Bella Notte should be your first and last stop.

    Sara Bauleke was incredible. She was totally on top of everything (exactly what you need in a planner!) and made the evening go beyond smoothly. There were even a few "hiccups" I learned about weeks and even months after the wedding that Sara handled perfectly and such that my husband and I never had any idea that a single thing went wrong. We hired her for the rehearsal dinner as well which we were incredibly glad for. She comes highly, highly recommended!!

    We chose the Day of Coordination package with Sara Bauleke. She participated in our tasting, called our vendors, rehearsal and of course our ceremony and reception. We were so happy how well organized she was, and how everything went off without a hitch. She helped us to create a timeline. She's very pleasant to work with, and she really makes sure the bride and groom are taken care of. We highly recommend her. A lot of guests commented how awesome she is.

    I used Bella Notte for "month of" wedding planning services, as well as design assistance for the ceremony and reception spaces. Our coordinators, Whitney and Sara, were wonderful. They were 100% professional and responsive at all times, as well as amazingly chipper and upbeat. They came up with a beautiful design aesthetic that met my vision for our wedding at the Torpedo Factory in Old Town Alexandria. They made sure everything went smoothly on the day of the wedding. They also made sure all my vendors adhered to the timeline and they took care of any small problems that arose, without having to involve me and the Groom. Overall, it was a wonderful experience working with them and I highly recommend them to any other brides getting married in the DC area.
