The Wedding we never thought we'd have, at a price we could actually afford

We had our reception at the Belhurst castle (main ballroom) and grounds in September last year, and having it there was easily one of the best decisions we've ever made.

Our search criteria for a reception were a bit contradictory - we wanted to have a wedding somewhere that (a) had history, ideally stonework as opposed to anything "cheaper" and potentially tackier, (b) with plenty of room for an outdoors gathering but enough room indoors to party, and that was (c) within traveling distance of New York City. And all of this (d) on a reasonable budget as well.

Based on all of the above, I honestly didn't think we stood a chance of finding any option that wasn't a scam or that wouldn't try to up-sell us the second we signed a contract. Yet my fiance (now-wife) persevered, and got in touch with Sharon at the Belhurst Castle in the Finger Lakes region of upstate NY.

Sharon alone is what I'd define "a delightful powerhouse". She's an incredibly patient communicator who exchanged something in the neighborhood of 50-100 emails with me, not to mention half a dozen calls and at least 2-3 in-person meetings over the course of 8 months, to make sure we were well taken care of from the start. We connected with her and discussed our budget for a reception, and unlike most coordinators she was 100% upfront from the start about any expenses we should expect. If you've been searching for a venue, you know that one of the biggest headaches is simply getting a straight answer about "can I have a wedding reception for X guests with Y budget" from their event managers. Sharon and her team were both friendly and informative for the entire planning process, and made sure we felt well taken care of every step of the way.

The Belhurst itself is gorgeous. Huge green lawn overlooking the lake, with a dock just begging to be used for group photo ops. An actual CASTLE in Upstate New York, complete with a Tower Suite and other storied rooms for guests and newlyweds. Two ballrooms, that can fit both big and small wedding parties. Google the pictures, what you see online is what you actually get in person.

The food they made for our wedding was also excellent, and again budget-wise they have plenty of options to choose from to fit your wallet's availability - both for the appetizers and passed hors d'oeuvres, and for the main meal. Still licking my chops thinking about the lamb that we had at our tasting session with Morgan and Sharon a year ago.

In terms of lodging, besides the fancier and slightly more expensive options in the Belhurst castle itself, there's also plenty of rooms at the Vinifera inn on the same property grounds - and lots of even cheaper but still good hotels in the nearby area within a 5-10 minute drive if need be.

All I wish we could do is hit repeat and relive the day we had in Geneva - and celebrating our reception at the Belhurst was a huge part of that. Still can't quite believe we managed to do this - I live comfortably enough, but am by no means rich and went into this without expecting a ton of financial support by friends or family.

And yet my spouse and I were able to plan and achieve a gorgeous wedding here, without sacrificing quality at all.

This place is a gem - if you're within half a day's drive, do yourself a favor and check them out if you're hunting for the perfect place to get hitched and celebrate with your family and friends.

Perfect Wedding Reception

Our wedding reception at Belhurst Castle was everything we could have hoped for and more! The wedding team was extremely attentive and personable - it truly felt like they sincerely cared about our day! Sharon and Morgan in particular were phenomenal. They took the time to really listen to what we wanted for our wedding reception and answered our many questions without hesitation. They accommodated our food tasting on my husband's birthday and it was a very special day for both of our families. Leading up to the big day, we felt at ease knowing they had everything handled. Morgan even packed us a to-go bag of food for after the reception, which we greatly appreciated. Our family and friends continue to tell us how much they enjoyed our wedding and how beautiful Belhurst Castle was for our reception venue. They also continue to tell us it was the best food they have ever had at a wedding reception! It was a magical night and we could not be more grateful for the staff at Belhurst Castle. We will definitely be back for anniversaries to come!

Everything we wanted in a wedding weekend

Sharon and Morgan were our guides throughout the process at Belhurst, and they were extremely attentive and helpful. They were responsive via e-mail, and did whatever they could to give us the best wedding day possible - one example is helping to customize our bar offerings with signature cocktails and a particular choice of spirits. The ceremony on the lawn, with the lake in the background, and the Meritage ballroom proved to be stunning venues for the day. We had some initial hesitations about Belhurst running two weddings per day, but on our wedding day we hardly knew there was another event happening - they were able to keep them pretty much fully separate. The service and food (hors d’oeuvres, entrees, and late night pizza) were all fantastic and received rave reviews from our guests. It was very convenient to host the whole wedding weekend at Belhurst, which is what we were looking for - accommodations, ceremony, and reception - as well as being able to hang out at Stonecutter’s and around the fire pit - all in one place. Staff at Belhurst provided some particular items in support of our day, which was nice (for example, stands for our desserts). They had great recommendations to provide to us for vendors that they have worked with well. Our wedding at Belhurst was everything we had hoped for and more!

Belhurst Castle is the place to get married!

My fairytale wedding was nothing other than a dream! I still think about it to this day and it was perfect! Thank you to Carmen and all the tremendous staff!

Beyond our expectations

My daughter got married at Belhurst Castle on 09/03/23. Everything about the wedding was perfect!! With the historic castle, lakeview and beautiful tall trees, the outdoor ceremony was intimate and very romantic. Appetizers and cocktails were served on the patio outside of the Meritage Ballroom. It was a hot day but the patio was in the shade and guests could sit outside with a view of the lake or inside in the air-conditioned dining room during cocktail hour. Our guests gave rave reviews to the appetizers. Carmen and her staff set beautiful and elegant table settings in the dining room. The atmosphere was timeless!! Guests enjoyed their meals and the great bar service provided. I would highly recommend Belhurst Castle for a wedding. The setting, inside and out, is stunning. Carmen and her staff ensure that everything goes smoothly and perfectly! I can’t thank Carmen enough for her professionalism and expertise!

Fairytale wedding

This is the only place I would ever have my wedding, it’s beautiful grounds and ballroom, with access to the docks for amazing photos, the food was astounding, everyone had nothing but compliments and amazing things to say about how beautiful everything was. Smartest choice I ever made next to saying yes.

Our wedding was amazing! Carmen and her team went above and beyond in every aspect! We couldn’t have envisioned our day any more perfect thanks to her!! From our initial meeting until after our wedding day Carmen was connected, responsive and supportive through it all!

Carmen and her team are amazing!

I can’t say enough great things about belhurst… they are just flat out perfect! I’m so happy we decided to go here! Carmen did so much for us! She was there with every crazy question we had, dealt with my crazy in-laws with the Covid madness with ease! Best thing Belhurst has ever done is hire Carmen. They did all the set up too!! Everything was exactly what we wanted! She went above and beyond and we truly appreciated it. We love you Belhurst thank you for all your hard work!
Tips to the bride: help out your venue coordinator, they have so much!! When we talked to Carmen after she was so happy because we thought about how to box things up, yes they were more boxes in total but with our pics that we took how we wanted things to look and our organizational tote system, she was able to replicate our vision down to the last spoon!

Perfect COVID Wedding

Perfect COVID Wedding is all you should need to know about this venue. They were so responsive and quick with communication when there were changes in policy that affected our guest count or wedding activities. With no dancing, we brought in casino tables for a fun night. Belhurst was great at working with the outside vendors (chairs, casino tables, photographer, cake, and DJ). We did not have to worry. This is a great place to have a wedding and made for a very special day.

Carmen, our Belhurst wedding planner, helped us stay on schedule and handled any potential issues that could have come up. She is a true professional that allowed me and my husband to sit back and enjoy the day. We were told many times that the day will fly by, you won't get a chance to eat, and other warnings of a hectic day. This was not the case with the Belhurst team. We truly were able to be present while they handled the details which were worth the purchase in itself.

Perfection from start to finish!

Carmen the event coordinator was simply amazing! she was with us every step of the way and made us feel comfortable doing something weve never done before. She was always in touch with us from all the new covid protocols down to how the linens would be set up! the staff was so accommodating and made everyone feel like they were VIP. I highly recommend using belhurst for all future events!

Beautiful venue, amazing staff!

I have nothing but amazing things to say about Belhurst. Carmen was awesome through the entire process. She was responsive and always made sure that I had all of the information that I needed. Carmen was the only person that we met with when looking at venues that took the time to really break down all of the pricing and logistics. She worked with us on all of the changes that we had to deal with during COVID and was an absolute rock through it all. Carmen and the rest of the Belhurst staff do so much for you that it really made the process simple and breezy!

Intimate wedding—Love in the Time of Covid

I could not have asked for a more helpful, responsive team, and the price was reasonable—especially for such a gorgeous location.

Carmen, Belhurst’s wedding coordinator, knew what needed to be done and made me feel secure that it all would be fine even as Covid was blocking our plans and causing people not to come who wanted to come. She took emails, phone calls and personal appointments promptly snd referred us to the other people at Belhurst who handled various aspects of weddings. She told me what had worked for others under similar circumstances. When I showed up without an appointment but with a carload wedding and rehearsal dinner items to drop off she managed to find a way to meet me and get the right person to handle the details even when she was at a previously scheduled appointment. She left decisions to the bride that a bride would like to handle instead of dictating how it had to be. She knew exactly how the timing works for weddings, and directed without demanding, eliminating a lot of stress.

We did an elaborate elegant Halloween rehearsal dinner, replete with black painted Jack-o-lanterns, beautiful bat art and other Halloween appropriate art, crows and a white owl for the high ceiling beams, skeletal mice to peep out from multiple places, complex layers of table runners, tall black candles, and Frankenstein, a raven, a Mayan figurine, photos of the bride and groom in Halloween costumes as kids, and gorgeous Halloween candy, etc. The result as they put it together was spectacular.

For the wedding each centerpiece was different as the couple chose a horror book wedding theme tied together with birch wood and flowers. So once again Belhurst had to deal with boxes of stuff—this time books and 3D symbols of the books. They did it with grace. We had ancestral and sibling wedding photos to display with write-ups about them and I realized last minute it needed strings of tiny LED lights. I had brought them. They were somewhere. 20 minutes later I came back to the ballroom and found 4 employees sitting on the floor, unwinding LED light strings. The result was perfect.

What really surprised me was that Carmen not only oversaw the unfolding of the wedding prep, the wedding itself, and the dinner and celebration, she also waited on tables personally—thus assuring she knew exactly what was going on and could assure me that all was well. I have never seen anyone else work so hard and so smart.

When it was over and clean up had to happen, Carmen and staff were again prompt and helpful.

The lodging staff was efficient and quick to handle all the inevitable changes that happened as people with reservations canceled due to Covid and occasionally new people were substituted into rooms. They got gift bags to rooms. Other gift bags were waiting to be taken on the way out. It all worked.

Hair done at the salon was fantastic. Lots of Viking braids for bride and bridesmaids and groom. I even got a braid in back.

My vegetarian and vegan food was great.

A fairy tale experience

Our wedding was at the mist of this pandemic on July 31st,2020. I was very skeptical with all the regulations but Carmen and her crew made this wedding a fairy tale. It was perfect. The execution was extraordinary. From the lake side ceremony to the transition of the reception.

Covid-19 Wedding

From our initial consultation with Belhurst as a potential wedding venue, we were blown away. We agreed immediately that we couldn’t imagine getting married anywhere else! Though our wedding day fell amid covid-19, the team worked to make sure our day was just as special as we originally envisioned. No detail was left out. We were so at ease from the moment our rehearsal began... More importantly, the day of the wedding, Carmen was checking in throughout the day to make sure all was going smoothly while her team prepared our reception room. It took so much stress off our shoulders to not have to worry about setting up our decorations. Then the outdoor wedding... beyond beautiful, and everything I could ever dream of! Cocktail hour was perfect, as was the dinner and reception. Carmen was pretty spot on with cost projections which was a relief to know those details well ahead of time. We highly recommend having your special day here!

Belhurst wedding

Our wedding at Belhurst was perfect. Carmen was constantly updating us on Covid and allowed us so much flexibility in still being able to make our day happen, helping us through the many changes we had to make to comply with NYS executive orders. The venue is absolutely beautiful and we could not have asked for a more scenic place to get married. The food was perfect and we were afforded so many different options despite it being such a small wedding. The women at the Spa were so kind and made my girls and me all look so beautiful. I would definitely recommend this venue.

Where do I start "Carmen". She makes the wedding experience a breeze. You will love working with her. We loved everything about the Belhurst. Carmen plans every step with you. Better than I could have imagined

I can not recommend Belhurst Castle enough. As a bride getting married in the middle of the COVID19 pandemic, I am so grateful and pleased with how our wedding day went, as well as all the planning leading up to it. Carmen was so responsive and helpful, always keeping us in the loop with the changing rules and being honest and transparent. I felt confident that myself and our guests were going to be safe as all precautions and NYS rules were adhered to. I also never felt like Belhurst was just trying to get our money, they were SO fair and helpful with all the uncertainties and accommodated our always changing guest list, up to the very day! Pandemic aside, the staff at Belhurst was so amazing. I did not need to set up any decorations as the team had it covered, the servers and bartenders were not only great at their jobs but also very pleasant, and the food was phenomenal. Carmen and her team met us in parking lot with drinks as we were getting off the bus, and I feel like we always had a drink or hors d'oeuvre in hand during happy hour as everyone was so attentive. The menu was very flexible and fun to put together. We stayed in the tower suite which was beautiful and such a cool spot for my girls and I to get ready at before the ceremony! The whole day went so smoothly and I was honestly so much less stressed than I expected to be, and that is thanks to Carmen and the team at Belhurst. The grounds are also beautiful, with the castle, the lake, the large outdoor lawn area for everyone to enjoy, the fire pit, the outdoor bar, everything. I am so happy with our decision to choose Belhurst for our wedding reception and would 100% recommend to others.

Belhurst Castle - The Perfect Venue!

Belhurst Castle is an absolutely amazing wedding venue! We had both our ceremony and the reception at Belhurst and we cannot say enough good things about this place. The team at Belhurst truly care about your special day and pay attention to every detail. They were so easy to work with and very attentive. They were flexible with planning and very accommodating, while also providing valuable suggestions to make your day perfect.
They helped make our wedding day go so smooth and easy to have fun. Many of our guests said that it was one of the most beautiful wedding venues they have ever attended; and we agree! The lake views are stunning from both the yard and the ballrooms which were perfect for pictures! There are also unique photo opportunities on the lawn, in front of the castle, by the railroad tracks, and on the dock on the water.
The food was amazing and the waiting staff were very attentive from the moment you arrived.
If you are looking for a wedding venue where the staff and coordinators will go the extra mile in every way, with a beautiful environment both outside and inside; Belhurst Castle is it. We recommend Belhurst Castle with high regard!

Fantastic!

Belhurst is gorgeous and quite affordable. Planning a wedding during COVID was tough, but Carmen rolled with the punches, and kept us updated every step of the way. Even with a reduced guest list we were able to have a beautiful wedding and reception that was just perfect.

Belhurst is Amazing!!

Belhurst is the perfect full service venue! They have weddings down to a T. It was great getting to enjoy the day knowing that all of the logistics were completely taken care of. Carmen and her staff are amazing. I didn't feel like they were nickle and diming me at any point (unlike some of the other venues in the area we looked at). Also, the castle is absolutely beautiful. I would HIGHLY recommend.

Wedding 10-4-19

We had a day planned of wedding visits and our first stop was Belhurst Castle. We met with Carmen and we immediately knew that’s was where we wanted to get married. We did go to all of our other venue appts but after every visit we said they just couldn’t compare to Carmen!! She has many years of experience and it shows! She helped to make the wedding planning process as stress free as possible. She gave use vendor recommendations and each one we used was amazing. The day of the wedding went off without a hitch and it was essentially stress free, as I knew Carmen and her team would have everything covered! Unfortunately our wedding day was pretty chilly. Carmen kept everyone inside until just a few minutes before the ceremony and then took everyone outside to be seated, so they were exposed to the cold for the least amount of time possible. We got so many compliments on how seamlessly our wedding went!! You absolutely can’t go wrong with a Belhurst wedding and Carmen as your wedding planner!

My husband and I had our rehearsal dinner here. Darlene was amazing to work with! They allowed us to visit and meet with them, and we're always professional and responsive through email. It was super easy to create a custom menu for our event. We were even allowed to use the space to rehearse for our wedding the next day! We felt like royalty being served, and our family and friends raved about the food selection and alcohol selection. We will definitely be coming back!

Absolutely Perfect!!

From our very first visit to the Belhurst to weeks after our wedding is over, every interaction has been so easy and flawless! There are not enough words to state how absolutely perfect Sharon is at what she does! My husband and I could not believe she is only one person! From day one she was so quick responding to my emails (and there were a ton!) and she never made me feel like a nuisance with my millions of questions! She allowed us to stop in multiple times and always made time for us when we were there. She was my first line of communication throughout the wedding and the person to set up our decorations the day of! She is one of the main people who made our day perfect.

The rest of the castle staff was also completely amazing!! Many guests of mine booked rooms in the castle which were all beautiful, romantic, and comfortable. If you’re getting married at the castle- book the Tower Suite!! I promise you will not regret it! We also got ready in Isabella salon, where the entire staff made sure our looks were perfect! Holly did my hair for the day and made sure it was exactly as I wanted. All of my bridesmaids hair held up throughout the night and all curls stayed exactly as placed!

As soon as we were announced Husband and wife there was wine, beer and food waiting for the wedding party at the end of the aisle! Shout out to Tyler who took care of my husband and myself throughout the entire night, making sure we always had a drink and that our food was perfect (which trust me, it was!!). Our guests are still bragging about how delicious the food was a week later!

Accommodations for those with food allergies was never a concern, as the castle was very careful to make sure there was no cross contamination while preparing meals. The bar was also able to stock gluten free beer for my guests unable to have gluten!

I think the most amazing part of booking the castle, however, was seeing how they work together as a team. When thanking each person, their response was that they couldn’t make it happen without the rest of the staff. It’s so incredible knowing that each person respects and recognizes the role that another plays.

I 100% guarantee that if you book the castle your day will be EXACTLY as you imagined. Flawless in every way! I can’t say enough great things about the castle and will forever brag to anyone who will listen at what a great job they did!!

Absolutely perfect!

I cannot say enough good things about Carmen! She was absolutely amazing in every way. She definitely made us feel like we were her top priority every time we spoke to her even though we were well aware of just how many weddings she was juggling at the same time! She always responded with a detailed message answering any question i had And then some! The day of the wedding couldn’t have gone better, everything was so beautiful and so perfect. Our waiter during dinner was so attentive and kind, i wish I caught His name and the bartender was amazing as well, we haven’t heard a single complaint from any of our guests, only positive feedback about how beautiful the day was and that the food was delicious! The cleaning staff was also incredible, making sure to have our suite ready for early checkin, we were hoping for it to be ready by 1pm and we were able to check in at 9:30 am! I cant Thank everyone enough for making our wedding so so perfect! I’ll continue to recommend belhurst to anyone and everyone I know!

Wedding Ceremony and Reception

We had our ceremony & reception at the Belhurst in August 2019. The day turned out even more beautiful than imagined!!! We are so happy with our choice in this venue for our day. The event coordinators (Carmen and Sharon) were wonderful in making sure everything went as planned. During the planning process, they were always available for questions which helped alleviate any concerns and allowed planning to go smoothly. We loved that that everything you could need is on site - hotel, salon, restaurant. We used the salon for makeup, and most of our family stayed on site. The rooms are a bit pricey during peak season and working with the hotel staff required us to stay on top of tasks; however, you are paying to stay on site in a historical castle and everything worked out well in the end. Plus, the wine spigot was a hit with the guests! The food was perfect, and the amount of choices to customize your menu exceeded expectations. The view of Seneca Lake, and the value compared to other Finger Lakes venues, could not be beat. Definitely check this out!

A Stress Free Venue

Belhurst Castle, specifically Carmen, made our experience so pleasant. Carmen has a list of recommended vendors and she coordinates directly with them on your wedding day. I had no idea anything was happening. My only job that day was to get ready and get married. She was also able to help us work around a sensitive family issue and helped ease the drama.

July 2019 Wedding

The Belhurst Castle is set right on Seneca Lake and is a gorgeous backdrop for weddings. We had our reception on the lawn and our reception in the Meritage Ballroom. While the location itself was our initial draw to the Belhurst, the major advantage of the Belhurst was Carmen, Sharon, and the rest of their staff. Carmen and Sharon go above and beyond to help make sure your day goes smoothly. They are true wedding professionals! They are extremely organized, caring, and accommodating. I felt like I could relax and enjoy the day because I trusted Carmen and Sharon completely. The only issue we had at the Belhurst was that we got married on a day that was 100 degrees outside so the air conditioning in the castle was not cutting it for that kind of weather. Everyone had a great time though and we had a beautiful wedding. Highly recommend the Belhurst!

Absolutely Amazing!

From the start of our planning to the execution of everything on the day of- we cannot imagine having had our wedding anywhere else! The Belhurst Castle team made our day so wonderful and easy to plan and we truly appreciate that, especially since we planned long distance from across the country. Carmen our wedding coordinator was amazing and we were more than impressed with how accurate her suggestions as far as expectations for pricing, headcount and meal choices were. As we progressed through the planning process, it was clear how prepared and professional Carmen & the entire team at Belhurst conducted themselves. On our wedding day, we had rain throughout the day but the entire staff at Belhurst worked extremely hard and managed to get us outside for the event just as the sky cleared up- we were thrilled! The ceremony, cocktail hour, reception, and everything in between were incredible. Our guests continue to tell us how nice the wedding was, how beautiful Belhurst Castle is, how great the staff and service was & most importantly how much fun they had! We love Belhurst's appeal & charm and we were so happy with how our day went, we will definitely be recommending this venue to other couples we know that are planning a wedding.

Truly magical experience!

Belhurst Castle is a beautiful venue, and their staff are wonderful to work with. We got married in July 2019, and couldn't be happier with the day (even in the presence of rain). Carmen and staff were absolutely wonderful! She is truly a pro, and made us feel so at ease throughout the wedding process. The food was wonderful as well (I still have people talking about the mac n cheese bites). I wish I could go back and do it again, or at least go to another wedding there to experience what all my guests raved about!

Everything was perfect!

The castle and grounds are just gorgeous by themselves and the food was fantastic but what really makes Belhurst phenomenal is Carmen. She is a saint. She made sure no "t" was left uncrossed and no "i" un-dotted. She really made the day perfect. She gives you "Carmen's check list of things" to make sure everything goes smoothly the day of and the days leading up to. She has a very calming effect, probably because it is so obvious that she knows exactly what she's doing. Carmen is priceless.
The food was great, and when we were unable to finish our dinners the staff boxed them up for us so we could take them to our room. We also ended up with a credit from where we had over paid for some things (they don't charge you for people who don't show up) and that was a nice surprise at checkout.
My bridesmaids, my mom, his mom, and I all got our hair and makeup done at the Isabella salon and everyone walked out of there looking fabulous. Holly did my hair and she did an amazing job, I have a TON of hair and she wrangled it into a bun that held the entire night, even with my veil that weighed about 5lbs.
I can't think of one negative thing to say. Everything was perfect

Working with Belhurst was amazing. To be honest not only is the cost reasonable for any size wedding the location is absolutely gorgeous and the people there are so well to work with. Very professional and they really know what their doing

I got to meet with Sharon the assistant coordinator. Sharon was absolutely amazing and explained everything to us in great detail with minimal questions needed afterwards. When I walked into the Meritage room I audibly gasped. The view is quite literally breathtaking and my fiancee and I knew right then and there that this was the place for us. I also could not believe that they don't charge a venue fee. I went to many other venues who charged around $2,000 dollars just to be there on top of having to get catering and everything else involved and all I could say to my fiancee was "Are you serious? I mean this place isn't even a castle and they want this much!" Anyways long story short, we are so excited to have Belhurst Castle host our upcoming Disney themed wedding. (how perfect to be getting married in a castle)

Perfect Wedding Venue

My daughter and her fiance booked the main ballroom at Belhurst Castle for their wedding reception about a year and a half before the date (December 29, 2018.) As the mother of the bride, who lives in Florida, I am so thankful and appreciative of all the help I received in making this their dream come true wedding. Carmen was always available to meet with me when I was in town, answered all of my questions, and helped me with all of the many details. She went above and beyond! She was flexible with all of my requests and handled all of the unexpected on the day of the event with professionalism and ease. The ballroom was gorgeous, the dinner delicious, and all of the guests had an outstanding experience. My daughter indeed had the wedding of her dreams! I highly recommend Belhurst Castle as your wedding venue!

What a beautiful beautiful venue for your wedding.. a few little bumps on check on,but they took care of it rite their and then.. the wedding day it self was exactly what we wanted. All our guest said it was absolutely beautiful. We live 6 hours away and booked everything with darlene, she was stunning,and Matt was fantastic. . I had my literal dream wedding at the Belhurst Castle. Carmen is a wedding ninja. She will stick to your budget, but also guide you in ways that you never thought you would need. She is incredibly responsive, and will answer every question you may have. We had our wedding in the backyard of the castle, and some of my fondest memories will be standing under that tree and saying my vows. Our wedding reception was in the Meritage ballroom, the "new" side. It was fantastic. The food was AMAZING (unlike most weddings I have been to), the service was spot on, everything was perfect. I cannot gush about this place enough. All of my guests have commented to me about how beautiful the venue was, and how much fun they had. I highly suggest it.

Our daughter was married at Belhurst this past weekend. We had the ceremony and a Saturday night reception there as well as a welcome reception (Friday night) and breakfast (Sunday morning). Every aspect of the weekend was outstanding. The venue is beautiful - both the buildings and the grounds, and the food is superb. But most importantly, the staff is awesome. The key is Carmen who coordinates the event - she is organized, energetic, very good-natured and a great communicator. The rest of the staff is also great and they made a wonderful wedding even better by their help and kindness.

My husband and I chose the Belhurst due to its beautiful scenery and reasonable prices for the setting. Jo, our wedding coordinator was absolutely amazing. Although they were a little difficult to get in touch with initially, once we booked the venue I never had an issue with communication. Jo often responded to my emails on her days off, which as a sometimes frantic bride this was so helpful. Our big day couldn't have gone better. It rained briefly before our ceremony on the lawn and the staff had a back up plan in case it continued. Luckily it didn't and we were able to be outside (even if it was one of the hottest days of the year!) The food was delicious and every staff member that we encountered were very friendly. We took advantage of the on-site spa and many of our guests stayed in the rooms at the Castle. My husband and I spent our wedding night in the Tower Suite and it was worth every penny. I can't wait to go back and visit the Belhurst again and relive our special day.

Belhurst Castle has both wonderful facilities and backdrop. The only thing that can ruin the fun would be the weather. But even with not so nice weather, the Meritage Ballroom would still offer a full view of the Seneca Lake and quick access to the patio and lawn beyond if the sky clears up. Fortunately, our wedding reception didn't warrant the backup plan.

Jo, in charge of handling our reception reservation, was very responsive, helpful, understanding, and accommodating. She has an entire system in place for event preparation, from seating chart to last-minute check-list. We worked comfortably with her in arranging everything to the way we desired, from dish selection to table decoration.

Jo was very accommodating in working with our busy wedding schedule. The entire staff was very friendly and we came across zero trouble from set-up to take-down. Our photographers and guests took many amazing pictures in and around the castle, as well as on the pier across the railroad tracks.

The food was delicious, the champagne was delightful, and we all had a very good time. The high quality service and unbeatable location (secluded on the outskirt of town but close enough to the stores for any last-minute items, plus plenty of parking spaces), came with a very reasonable pricing.

The special event folks at Belhurst also coordinated with their hotel folks, which makes it very convenient for booking a room alongside with a wedding ceremony/reception. They also has a spa that we didn't get to try.

I was married at Belhurst a little over a month ago, June 2016! Our ceremony was on the lawn and our reception was in the Meritage ballroom. This was by far the most amazing day of my life and I could not have asked for a better venue. I worked with Jo as my wedding coordinator and I can't say enough wonderful things about her. She was professional, helpful in the planning, and very quick with responses. The entire wait staff was simply amazing! They are what helped make my night what it was.

I booked the lawn and ballroom a year and a half in advance, so my date was pretty flexible. The dates at this point were just starting to be booked. There are two ballrooms so two weddings going on at once. Since we were the first to book our date we were able have first choice in the time of our ceremony, which was nice. I loved the meritage ballroom because of all of the windows allowing you to overlook the lake and the walkout patio. We also hosted a cocktail hour with appetizers and open bar for an hour in between ceremony and reception. We did a late night wing and fries station, that our guests went crazy over!

I also stayed in the Billard Suite. Since I was planning to finish getting ready in this room the staff was very prompt in preparing this for me and making sure it was one of the first rooms cleaned so my bridal party and I could get in.

Jo kept everything on schedule and flowing seamlessly. We had SO many compliments on the venue and staff. Our guests thought our wedding easily cost $40-50k, which is certainly did not! It is the most reasonable option on the lake.

After the wedding we went next store to the bar and were able to continue the party and hangout with guests. The next morning my new husband and I enjoyed a massage in the spa and was such a nice way to start off our new beginnings together! Highly recommend Belhurst for a wedding venue. Ask for Jo, she will make your dream wedding come to life!

What can I say....it was perfect...from the location, to the food, to the drinks, to the coordination to the staff...all way above par. The only down side is (and this I already knew going into it) is that communication in the months prior to the wedding is lacking....but I also knew that we would meet again right before the wedding - iron out all the details and it would be perfect so I tried not to stress too much about the unreturned emails....and you know the day was PERFECT and I just do not say that. could not have wished for any better.

I can honestly say that we had the most perfect wedding (for us) and it was everything we could have dreamed for, and then some. We had our reception at Belhurst Castle's Meritage Ballroom on Saturday, October 25. Carmen is seriously a wedding planning genius. She could not have orchestrated our day any better. The ballroom looked amazing and she had so many great ideas regarding decor herself. When we arrived after the ceremony, we were greeted at the door with drinks and appetizers which was so nice since we would have otherwise missed all of the cocktail hour food. Even when Tim (my now hubby) and I were down by the dock taking photos, Carmen came all the way down with a server and brought us more snacks (bacon covered scallops and mini crab cakes to be exact) and they were delicious! She ensured that everything went smoothly throughout the night. In addition, the food was so good! Our two most popular dinner selections amongst our guests were the filet and the salmon. I have to say that Tim and I both (as well as many satisfied guests) were very pleased with how both were cooked/tasted. It's not every day that you find a place that can cook a large amount of both of those without under/over cooking them. The servers and bartenders were great as well. We have been getting so much positive feedback from our families and friends since the wedding. We are just so happy with how everything turned out and would recommend Belhurst to anyone.

I HIGHLY recommend Belhurst! It is beautiful, your guests will love it, and the staff is amazing. Several guests told me this was the most beautiful wedding venue they had ever been to.
The entire day was absolutely perfect! Most of my guests were from out of state and had never heard of the Finger Lakes, and I am glad that Belhurst was their first glimpse of it!
Price-wise, I was very impressed. From the research that I did, it seems that Belhurst is less expensive than others in the area, and is so beautiful. There is no "ballroom rental fee" - your cost is literally just the food and drinks that your guests consume, plus a small fee to get married out on the lawn (DO IT- it was SO beautiful! And the backup plan is just to have the wedding inside the ballroom where the reception is if weather is bad) Also - you do not get charged for meals ordered for people who do not come and you can change your list up until the night before! I had almost 10 people cancel the week of the wedding and it was great not to be charged for them! Also, the food was delicious! Plus, the bride and groom can choose anything off of any of their menus and can be different from the guest choices.
Our reception was in the Meritage ballroom, which we chose because we liked that it sits a little higher up and you can see the lake from inside. My husband and I stayed in the Tower Suite that night, and my bridesmaids and I also got ready in this room. It is an amazing suite (I didn't see any of the others, but I am sure they are great too) and my photographer took some phenomenal photos in this space. I highly recommend this too!
I will agree with other posters that communication speed wasn't always great, but it also wasn't terrible and you shouldn't let this be the reason you don't go here. When it is close to your date, they are all about you and they are SO good at what they do! They make you feel like you are their only clients and they get everything right!

We did a sit down dinner and everything was served at the same time and it tasted amazing, all our guests raved to us how good everything tasted. We were very impressed.

Belhurst exceeded my expectations in every day. Carmen and Jo were very thorough and made sure to help us with the whole planning process. They were responsive and always worked with us to design the event we wanted. Food was INCREDIBLE and service was top-notch. When a couple of drinks were spilled they cleaned them right away with no problem or concern. The bartender remembered what everyone was drinking and had it ready for them. The rooms were amazing and the price was so reasonable. I would recommend them to everyone!

We had our wedding ceremony and reception at The Belhurst Castle on 9/9/12. The beautiful setting on the water and historic castle made for the perfect wedding venue for us. We had almost 200 guests and the space was plenty large enough to accomodate. Carmen Brennan, the wedding planner, was absolutely fantastic. I don't know how anyone can say any different. She was wonderful and took care of everything the day of the wedding and leading up to it. She met with us when we needed and was available to answer any questions or concerns that we had. She responded promptly to emails and phone calls. All in all this was the most amazing venue for our wedding because of the beautiful ambiance and wonderful staff who all contributed to making our day special.

My husband and I chose Belhurst for a number of reasons
1) VALUE
2) The whole experience for the guests (i.e - Being able to stay, experiencing the whole castle effect, breakfast/brunch in morning)
3) Carmen seemed ( and WAS!) very professional, experienced and had it all down to a science.

Our tasting went very well! They cater to you like you are ROYALTY!
We had our ceremony in the Meritage ballroom & our reception in the Castle ballroom.
The whole day was ABSOLUTELY incredible - if you are not satisfied here, there is something wrong with you! My family especially & all my guests said it was the BEST wedding they had been to, and I believe it!

I would recommend BELHURST CASTLE TO ANY BRIDE WITH ANY BUDGET!

I can't wait to write a thank you card titled to the whole staff! I am eternally grateful! 5 STARS!

Pros: This is a HUGE value and now one stop for everything: rehearsal and rehearsal dinner, dinners, ceremony, reception, and catering. I got my hair, nails, and makeup done here as well, but only wish that I had gotten the massage! They just opened this salon that is AMAZING-Try to get Brandon!
The restaurants are delicious and overlook the lake. The coordinator Carmen is very down to earth and is very easy to work with. IT'S A CASTLE! What more could you want!?
Cons: The rehearsal dinner did not go very well but overall the wedding is what counts and that went off without a hitch! :-)

We had our rehearsal dinner at Belhurst Castle and it was incredible. Kelly was the woman we worked with and she was a super delight. Our friends and family felt that coming to Belhurst was such a treat and really enjoyed the food and their time there. Plus we served Belhurst wine at dinner and people really enjoyed that specialized touch.

I could not be happier with choosing Belhurst Castle as my reception venue. Carmen the wedding coordinator is worth her weight in gold! She not only was my husband's and mine personal server at the reception so we did not have to lift a finger or grab our own drinks, but she even went and found my flats for me when my feet were killing me. The servers found my bridal party and my husband and I while we were taking photos and brought us appetizers and drinks so we did not miss out on cocktail hour. The entire staff made sure the entire day went off without one issue. The grounds are beautiful and the food was excellent. After the wedding Carmen gave us a slice of each flavor of our wedding cake as well as a dinner entrée so we could enjoy the food we were unable to eat during the reception. The best part is the next morning at checkout Carmen had everything packed up in boxes and labeled so we were able to leave without having to pack up anything. The only slight complaint would be that they changed the prices and menu options between us booking the venue and our wedding, but it was still very affordable. Overall, I could not have picked a better venue for our reception!

I a writing this as a mother of the bride. My daughter got married at Belhurst May 29th. Carmen and her team were top notch from start to finish. It rained earlier in the day and everything was set up inside but it stopped and we asked Carmen to have it outside. She had about 10 people wiping off chairs and the ceremony started maybe 30 minutes late. Food delicious. Service great. Everyone very friendly. Rooms at the castle were clean with modern bathrooms. Pretty fireplace in the room. Wine spigot outside our door. If you read a negative review of the rooms in the castle don't believe them. After the wedding I was refunded money for the people that didn't show up and the bar bill! My daughter said her day was perfect and I would highly recommend Belhurst. We loved everything about it!

Belhurst is an amazing venue. The scenery and landscape are gorgeous and provide endless beautiful backdrops for your photos. We took advantage of almost everything this beautiful site had to offer. The new spa is wonderful and they offer airbrushed makeup which I had done and still looked flawless after the ceremony and a 7 hour reception! Carmen (the wedding coordinator) is extremely pleasant and helpful and she will make sure your big day is perfect! She may be difficult to get ahold of at times, but rest assured she takes care of everything when it counts! The food was delicious. The Turret suite is exceptional - myself and my nine (yes, nine) bridesmaids plus mothers and extras all got ready there with plenty of room. Every guest who stayed at the Belhurst loved it and some are even planning to return for a romantic getaway. Be aware though that to reserve any rooms for yourself and/or guests you will need to pay for at least one night at booking. We also invited our overnight guests in the area to a breakfast the next morning which was also amazing! Excellent food and service - a full hot breakfast complete with custom omelets - what a value!! Every staff encounter was wonderful, which is very difficult to find these days. I highly recommend Belhurst for a wedding venue, and be sure to take advantage of the extra amenities that are offered - you will love it! :)

Best day of my whole life!!!!

My ceremony and wedding were at Belhurst Castle and I can't say enough amazing things about the wedding day. The venue is gorgeous, I felt so well taken care of day of and both the venue and spa hair services were amazing. Carmen is such a hard worker. We finalized most of the little details in the 2 weeks prior to the wedding which worked out very well. I am so so thankful for the wonderful memories and would recommend Belhurst to anybody.

Amazing!

Belhurst provided us with a dream wedding! We were satisfied beyond words with Belhurst for our wedding. The first time we saw Belhurst we felt it would be the perfect place for us to get married, and we were right. The grounds are simply stunning, the food is unbelievably delicious, and Carmen was simply amazing in helping us pull it all together. I was concerned about planning a wedding from CT, but Carmen made it so easy. She provided a list of outstanding vendors who also made planning everything so simple. I never thought I could be so relaxed and confident that things would get done from afar, but I was and they did, exactly the way I had hoped they would. Carmen let us drop off our centerpieces a month prior to the wedding with a photo of how we wanted them assembled, and it happened; she provided a sampling of meals for my mom because she knew my mother had a difficult time deciding which meal to select; Carmen made sure she had a wheelchair and convinced my mother-in-law to use it the day of the wedding when my mother-in-law was short of breath; because it was so hot that day Carmen made sure there were bottles of water on the pillars for our ceremony. I could go on and on about all the little details that Carmen took care of without us even knowing to make our day a dream come true. Without a speck of hesitation I would recommend Belhurst for a wedding. My husband and I intend to return there every July 4th for our anniversary just to visit - we miss it!!! And we will visit Carmen because she is one of a kind and our day would not have been as magical without her!

Made for a perfect day!

We could not have been happier with the service we received from Carmen and her staff at Belhurst! Carmen, the coordinator, was instrumental in helping us stay organized with her checklists and layouts, and every meeting we had in advance was great. They let us come in with our parents for a food tasting and it was all so delicious, it was difficult to choose! On the actual day, Carmen led us every step of the way, directing us where to go, right down to helping me get to the aisle to walk down. She and her staff were so attentive. So many of our guests raved about the service and the food as well. Additionally, we stayed in the Castle that night and the accommodations are gorgeous. I can’t recommend a more romantic wedding location.

We had the wedding of our dreams at Belhurst Castle in the Meritage Room all thanks to Carmen Brennan-Bain- the wonder woman wedding coordinator of the castle! We met impromptu with Carmen on a trip up to the finger lakes shortly after getting engaged to learn about their availability and estimates, and the entire process was incredibly thorough, flexible, and accommodating. We lucked out with snagging a canceled Saturday date that was just 5 months away from the date we first met, but Carmen and the team of professionals at Belhurst assured us it was possible and would be awesome. We worked exclusively with the vendors that Belhurst recommended since we didn't live in the area, and we could not have been more thrilled. We hosted about 110 guests all from out of town and opted for a plated dinner with many appetizers and additional items from the menu for an absolutely unbeatable price for the region. The ceremony space is stunning outdoors with lake Seneca in the back drop, and the ballroom was breathtaking with huge windows and a gorgeous view. The food was amazing- having tasted so many options at the menu meeting a few months prior, we opted for the Filet Mignon, Chicken Caprese, and Salmon dish to offer our guests. Carmen and the Belhurst team- including the hotel managers Quinn and Kim were super responsive to all of our last minute issues with travel accommodations and keeping track of all the details for a large group. We are still floating on cloud 9 and our guests are still raving about how beautiful everything was and how incredible the staff was throughout the entire event- both ceremony and reception- and even the brunch the following day- every detail was accounted for by true professionals and we are so grateful!

Belhurst was the perfect venue! We got married in the Marriage ball room it was everything we could have hoped for and more - it was set up beautifully . The staff on the day of made sure that my hubby and I were taken care of the whole day. We had our rehearsal dinner in Edgars, all of the girls got ready at the Isabella salon, and then we had the ceremony/reception there. The whole weekend was perfect in every way. Carmen is AMAZING. I've read reviews that complain about her response time, but I didn't find that any issue - you have to remember Belhurst is the #1 wedding venue in the Finger Lakes. I highly recommend Belhurst as a wedding venue as everything went perfect with Carmen and the staff, it was beautiful and many people said it was the best wedding they have ever been to! Couldn't be happier.

If we had a choice to do things over again - we would 100% choose Belhurst Castle over and over again as our wedding venue. It was an absolutely beautiful and magical day. The landscape in and around Belhurst and Seneca Lake is just breathtaking. The castle is so well kept inside and out and truly just brought an elegant charm to an already special day for us. Carmen was absolutely FANTASTIC to work with. At times she was difficult to get a hold of, BUT as the wedding came closer (within the last month we'd say), she was available whenever needed, she answered any and all questions had, she was incredibly organized, and definitely was ensuring that your day would run as smoothly as possible. She put us at ease throughout the process with her obvious confidence in having done this several times, but also while making us feel still SO special and excited for OUR day. She and her staff are highly HIGHLY recommended by us! Thanks for everything over and over again Carmen!

Wonderful place. Very pretty. Carmen was the greatest. A really busy place though rushed around the day after to clean up bc they were going to charge us when they promised us late check out. Also had another wedding right after ours outside and so my guests were being sushed during our cocktail hour, did not like that.

My husband and I had our ceremony & reception at the Belhurst. It was absolutely wonderful. Everything went exactly as planned, we had a perfect day. Carmen was absolutely fabulous to work with. She was so organized, we didn't have to worry about a thing. We planned everything long distance which i was fearful about, but Carmen helped us with everything and had great suggestions. The location is absolutely beautiful - the lake, the castle, the hotel. All great. It was perfect to do everything in one place. All of guests were from out of town and we heard nothing but great stories from all of them.

While at first Carmen was hard to get a hold of (I know she is VERY busy), she was very helpful in helping us figure out all the details of the wedding and giving us the best options budget wise. The day turned out to be absolutely beautiful and everything went so smoothly. My husband and I love the wineries - so getting married at Belhurst Castle was definitely at the top of our list. I highly recommend Belhurst Castle to anyone and everyone. It was so nice to have the ceremony, and reception all at one place. I also got compliments from the guests that the food was wonderful & the drinks were even better!

In the beginning stages of wedding planning it was difficult to get a hold of Carmen (wedding coordinator for Belhurst), which initially was very frustrating, but now I know after the fact that she is very busy with weddings all the time. As the wedding date drew closer she kept in contact much more and was always available to answer my frantic bride questions! Carmen was willing to make my ceremony and wedding what I wanted and worked with me to ensure that happened.

I received soooo many compliments from our guests on the food. We did the buffet dinner and it was so delicious!

The view is beautiful and there are so many opportunities for pictures. Many people think that Belhurst is way out of their budget, but after you do your research it is one of the more affordable venues with great quality and value.

My reception was perfect. From the moment we stepped off the limo until the end of the night. We had cocktail hour outside on the patio and the Meritage Ballroom for the reception. It was exactly how I expected it, but so much better. I am still hearing how beautiful everything was. We never once saw the other bridal party, and Carmen and the staff were amazing. I couldn't have asked for a more perfect night. Thank you!!!

We planned our wedding at the Belhurst after seeing the gorgeous Meritage Ballroom. After a brief period where it was difficult to get in touch with Carmen, we were given Stephanie's contact info as well. From that point forward - it was smooth sailing.
The venue itself is worth it because of its beauty and location, but the food was delicious too! They have a salmon dish here that is to die for. Fantastic portions - more than enough - and everyone loved the food! The room is gorgeous and fit our 130 well. If you are looking for a site that includes all table decor - just realize that the Belhurst doesn't include anything besides table linens which are beautiful but we ended up doing our own overlays. We also brought in chiavari chairs to really bring it home. We couldn't have asked for a more amazing an beautiful reception and we know our guests felt it was the most beautiful venue they had ever been to.

We had an outdoor ceremony on the lawn overlooking Seneca Lake, outdoor Cocktail Hour, and our reception was in the Castle Ballroom. We had approx. 75 guests in late October. The morning stated out raining and overcast and by the time we started our pictures outside before the ceremony it had cleared up and was a beautiful 65-70 degree day! Carmen and Stephanie were both very helpful and professional. We booked the Turret Room for the day/night of the wedding so we could get ready before hand and spend the night. Wish they would give a discount on the room especially for the Bride and Groom but they do not. Had to pay full price and it was not ready for when we were for early check in. We had a special menu setup for me and my ladies delivered to the room. Food was amazing!!! Room was clean/spotless. They set up all the chairs for our ceremony, and outside cocktail hour without us worrying about a thing. The ballroom looked fantastic!! My one and only complaint was we had a candy bar with popcorn and they did not set out all the candy and didn't set out the special bags we ordered for the popcorn. So we had A LOT of popcorn and certain candy left over that probably wouldn't have been if it was all out and with the popcorn bags. (The candy bags were too small to add candy and popcorn that's why I ordered the extra bags for the popcorn specifically.) But this and the room not being ready are the only reasons for not giving 100% rating. The staff, waiters, and bar tender were awesome! Everyone was professional and extremely nice and friendly. We also had everyone get together after the reception in Stone Cutters for some late night snacks! Loved Loved Loved the location! Would not have had our wedding anywhere else. It was perfect for us and completed our special day! Thank you Carmen and Stephanie for every thing!

The Belhurst Castle is an ideal venue for a beautiful wedding. We had our ceremony on the lawn and reception in the large ballroom. Everything was absolutely PERFECT. Carmen and her staff did an incredible job making our dreams come true. From spending late night at Stone Cutters bar to using Isabella Salon for our hair and makeup, to the late night pizza the chef made for us, everything was perfect and breathtakingly beautiful. Everything was exactly as we had wanted and the whole weekend went smoother than we could have imagined. And the food- outstanding!!

My wife grew up near Belhurst Castle and always wanted to get married there. Living in Northern Virginia, wedding venues and catering costs are very high so we decided to book at Belhurst Castle in the Finger Lakes. We cut our cost by 50-60% by making the decision to book at Belhurst Castle vs. a venue in Virginia.

Carmen was great to work with when you could reach her. This caused a ton of stress for my wife but in Carmen's defense, if she answered every e-mail and phone call from every stressed out bride, then she would never get anything done. The staff at Belhurst is amazing and they are great at making your day perfect. Planning a wedding in NY from VA was not half the hassle I believed it would be and that's a credit to Carmen.

Belhurst Castle was able to special order craft beer for the reception which was very important to me. Everyone raved about how much they loved the food and the venue. To be able to have our ceremony on the lawn, overlooking the lake was amazing.

I strongly recommend booking your wedding at Belhurst Castle.

I had my ceremony and reception at Belhurst. I was married outside on the lawn and had my reception in the Meritage Ballroom. It was beautiful and everyone loved it. The service was excellent and we had a server attending to us the entire day making sure my husband and I had food and drinks. The value was VERY good for the price. I had heard their food wasn't that great, but everyone really enjoyed it at our wedding. We were able to have appetizers out on the patio. Everyone had a wonderful time. My only complaint was that the venue coordinator is very hard to get a hold of because she is so busy. However, the week before the wedding she was very good about being in touch. Overall, I would wholeheartedly recommend Belhurst Castle.

Belhurst saved my outdoor wedding. If I had been married anywhere else, they would have made me call off my outdoor ceremony and my dream lakeside wedding would have been a literal washout. It rained all day, and I had my heart set on an outdoor ceremony. Carmen was upbeat and kept me calm. She even let me delay my ceremony a few minutes as a clearing on the weather radar approached. The minute the rain stopped (5 mins past ceremony start time), Carmen and her crew were out drying off chairs, seating guests, assisting the DJ with his set up, and corralling the wedding party. We managed to literally get married between the rain drops before it started raining again and it was spectacular. The lake was gorgeous, the castle perfection, and we got our outdoor ceremony. The food was divine and everyone commented on it. Carmen runs a very tight ship and everything was set up, coordinated, taken down, and packed up, without any worries for us. She packed our leftovers and a slice of cake with a beautiful bow for us to take up to our Tower Suite after the reception was over. They helped move all our gifts up to the room, and generally made the process very easy. The only downside to working with Belhurst is that up until the week of the wedding, it is difficult to reach Carmen. As a one-woman ringleader, she is incredibly busy making everyone else's weddings perfect, but it was a little stressful not being able to get quick answers back. That being said when it was our turn, we had 100% communication, 100% perfection. The flexibility when some of our guests fell ill at the last minute, couldn't come to the wedding, and we had to cancel meals, when the military was going to deploy my (then) fiance and we almost had to move our wedding date, and my day of weather woes, Carmen was so accommodating. It was by far and away one of the most beautiful venues (I grew up on Seneca Lake and have seen them all!) and one of the best dollar values in the area. Perfection!

My Grandson was married today at the “Belhurst”. My husband was wearing a “family” ring that came off his finger and went down the bathroom sink. Staff called in maintenance and they recovered the ring very quickly. The day was great, from the ceremony, to the reception AND the food. Thank you so much for helping us to have a wonderful day! The Belhurst was a wonderful place to get married. The pricing is comparable to other venues, however it is much prettier both inside and outside than any other venue. They refund you money if your guests do not show up which is unheard of and they let you pick whatever meal you want, even if its different from your guests. The tasting are also wonderful because they bring out an entire meal.

My only complaint is that the responsiveness is not great. It takes weeks to get an e-mail back at times which can increase anxiety (although sometimes this postpones when your deposits are due which isn't so bad)

Staying overnight is nice but very expensive and late check out is only 11:30 so you still have to get up and out pretty early after a busy night.

Overall I was very happy with my wedding there and can't imagine a better venue.

I was so pleased with my wedding! If you have problems reaching Carmen, make sure to ask for Jo, who is OUTSTANDING!!! We had lovely weather, which only added to our fabulous day! We had no complaints about the quality of service and the food was excellent! Even Isabella Salon was great! I felt like I could not have chosen a better place and was surprised to find Belhurst so reasonably priced! I would highly recommend Belhurst Castle and especially Jo!!!

We used the Meritage Ballroom- which I think is the prettier. Carmen is terrible responding to emails. There were many times that I was feeling overwhelmed because of this. However, she knows her stuff! We have had guests tell us about how great Carmen was as well. The week of and day of she is just absolutely amazing. The day of she just takes right over and you don't have to worry about a thing! Just continue to send emails with your ideas and information because she prints it all out to keep, she just never responds. We ended up getting a refund check from them because although we had selected open bar, they keep a consumption total as well and give you money for the difference the next day. Of all the vendors in the fingers lakes, they seemed to be the only ones without hidden fees.
People continue to comment on how great the service was, how beautiful the venue was, etc. Truly such a perfect perfect time.
Also, our ceremony was outdoors and supposed to begin at 4:30 pm. It rained until 4:26 pm and they were out there wiping the chairs off, we started on time and outside!

We do not live in the area, but my husband is originally from the Geneva area. We have visited the Belhurst on several occasions and when the time came to pick our wedding venue, we just knew The Belhurst Castle is where it needed to be. Again we do not live in the area so most of the planning was done via email/phone. The coordinator is tough to get in touch with at times, but when it came down to the final weeks it all started to come together. We actually did not meet the coordinator and actually taste our wedding food choices until the week of the wedding, and both did not let us down!! The service of the staff and the food was simply amazing! They have two ballrooms and our wedding reception was held in the Meritage Ballroom, and our cocktail hour was held on the back patio. The room was perfect! All open and fit our guests (145) comfortably. My husband, myself, and our guests had a wonderful time!

We fell in love with the venue and were thrilled to have been able to reserve the Belhurst on the day of our choice -- it is in demand and fills up quickly. We loved having the ceremony, reception and catering all managed at one site -- this made planning infinitely easier. Our coordinator, Carmen, and her staff ensured that the day went very smoothly. The food was fantastic and we were happy with what we spent for the whole event. My only complaints are that Carmen is so busy that there were times when I felt she was not responsive enough to my calls or in addressing my concerns. I know that this is because she was working hard to ensure that each other bride's day was as wonderful as mine was, but it was very frustrating to send message after message and not have concerns addressed in what I felt was a timely manner. However, in the end, all was taken care of and went flawlessly so I still highly recommend booking at the Belhurst. My only other complaint was as we were transitioning from the cocktail hour to a receiving line, the young man who was to organize this disappeared and I had to essentially direct people myself. This wasn't so hard to do (people tend to follow the lady in the big white dress pretty easily), but it was still a point of frustration. Still, we moved on inside and the whole reception was a perfect, blissful blur. Overall, things could not have gone more smoothly and our guests raved about everything. We loved staying at the Belhurst and look forward to returning for an anniversary get-away one day in the future.

It was a beautiful day

Ever since I was a little girl, I knew I wanted to get married here and then I met Carmen. Carmen is the wedding coordinator extraordinaire for Belhurst. Honestly, without her, I don't think it would have gone as smoothly. From the get go she knew what I wanted and made me feel important and listened to my and my fiance's opinions above all others which was really important to us.

She can be a little hard to reach via email, if you plan as early as I did, but once you're in the 6 months leading up to your wedding she is all yours (basically). This woman coordinates A LOT of weddings, I tell you, and there's a lot of weddings there because of her. Just be patient because she's worth the wait.

The food was excellent and we were able to customize a lot of the dishes to fit dietary restrictions. The chef was wonderful. The Meritage ballroom and Castle ballroom were wonderful spaces for our event. The lodging director, Scott, is a little bit of a curmudgeon, which is why we decided not to do a room block there but still had a few guests actually stay in the Vinifera Inn. The rest of the lodging employees were very friendly and helpful. The wine shop employees were wonderful and the tasting coordinator was super accommodating of our tasting group.

Overall, it was a wonderfully beautiful day on the lake and we are very happy.

The service was amazing, Jo and her team did mostly everything for us. The food was great and the pictures turned out perfect. It was a bit pricey (we booked in 2015 and were married in 2017 and our prices went up immensely especially for the bar). Other than that our day was PERFECT.

My wedding was absolutely perfect--I could not say more about the day. Everything was beautiful and I did not have to worry about a thing. Carmen had everything planned out to the minute and she really kept things on track during the day. She helped us feel comfortable and made sure we had everything we needed -- Food, drinks, etc! Truly excellent service. It was a great day.

Carmen is a bit difficult to get in touch with prior to the event, so that alone can be very nerve wrecking prior to the wedding. Just trust that everything will work out perfectly!! They do know what they are doing

I will say that I was disappointed in one thing--during the reception, my Waterford toasting goblets were broken by waitstaff. It was discussed with my husband and me--as well as my parents--and it was discussed that these would be replaced for us. We gave Carmen the information and attempted to contact them several times over the course of the last 11 months (!!) by both email and phone. We have never gotten a call back or any sort of correspondence since. This is so disappointing for me, since the wedding itself was so wonderful and we have nothing but nice things to say. Unfortunately, I found this very unprofessional and it is what prevented me from giving a higher rating.
