From my very first call with Rachael (who we ended up working with to coordinate our wedding), it was very clear that she and the team genuinely cared about making our day special while trying to work with our budget. The tasting experience was a highlight! We sampled a variety of dishes, and every bite was amazing. My husband and I are big foodies and can sometimes be a critic so we were thoroughly impressed with the menu. The flavors were vibrant and unique, showcasing fresh, high-quality ingredients. Truly, everything from the food to the bar was excellent. Our guests RAVED about everything, specifically, the service! On the wedding day, Rachael went above and beyond. In my husband's words "Rachael was playing NO games on the wedding day!" She was such a joy to work with and made sure everything ran smoothly, allowing us to focus on celebrating. The staff was professional, attentive, and friendly, making sure that every guest felt taken care of. We would highly recommend B&S to anyone getting married in the NYC area. They truly make our wedding unforgettable.

Hands down, the most consistent, best food
My fiancée and I asked for recommendations for our wedding at the Foundry. Three names came up and after three tastings, it was clear B&S was miles ahead of everyone else. We were looking for consistency, flavor, and what we saw as professionalism and Rachael and her team hit every mark. I’d like to be clear, the food is the best in the business. Aside from that, Rachael felt like an advocate for us. She was transparent with costs, rentals, and flexible with our needs. She walked us through how specific glassware/silverware add prestige but different cost/values to the wedding. She’s knowledgeable, kind, and professional and an excellent choice for whatever catering you’d need.

My Husband and I got married in September 2024 and partnered with Bartleby & Sage for catering and planning. At every single turn, our expectations were far exceeded. The attention to detail that Leslie and her team have is incredible. Leslie and her team have a unique ability to understand exactly what your vision is and bring it to life even better than you could have ever imagined. Leslie was incredibly responsive and assured me that no question or idea was to big or small. Over a month later, all of our guests are still raving about the food at our wedding. The passed h'orderves were so delicious and beautiful. We were able to completely customize the menu to match out taste without quality be compromised at all. Your guest will be saying this is the BEST food they have ever had at a wedding. Bartleby & Sage was a guiding light throughout our special day and we are forever grateful to have decided to work with Leslie and her team.
Our experience with Bartleby & Sage was extraordinary; if we could give 10 stars we would. Our wedding on October 19 at the Wainwright House exceeded our expectations 10 fold. We tried to think of one thing we would change to improve the experience - and cannot. Leslie, Barbara and the team were consistently professional, available, kind, supportive and true professionals. When we mentioned to other vendors we were using them they always responded by saying that Leslie and her team are top notch, and they were. Our wedding was elegant, warm, and perfectly executed. The wait staff were professional, elegant and very kind. Delivering hot food, all together, gracefully and quickly. Nothing went wrong. Our guests are STILL talking about the food and the elegance of the experience. We are both trained chefs (with high standards) and were incredibly impressed with the quality, preparation and presentation of the food, and Leslie's thoughtfulness and generosity. Our cake was stunning....and delicious. Leslie and her team handled situations with grace, professionalism and kindness, and created the exact experience we discussed with her. My sisters MIL told her that my sister had a great wedding, but this was the best she's ever attended. We heard that repeatedly. We cannot adequately express our appreciation and gratitude to the entire team for creating a beautiful and memorable experience for us and our guests that we are proud of and thoroughly enjoyed. Working with Bartleby & Sage was a DREAM. Bartleby & Sage (Leslie, specifically) was our wedding planner, day-of coordinator, and caterer. Each step of the process was flawless.
On the food, Leslie, and Hans on desserts, curated an incredible menu. Bartleby & Sage really is not catering so much as a sit down dinner equal in quality to a restaurant meal. Their options are comprehensive, but they also love ideas and individualizing options. (We discussed some appetizers more specific to our hometowns) They hold a private tasting dinner for the couple and two guests, which is fun and delicious. Multiple people at our wedding commented that it was the best food they had ever had at a wedding. (The burrata! The macarons! The mini ice cream cones! The steak! It goes on). We were so impressed by the wedding menu that we asked Bartleby & Sage to also cater our departure brunch. The brunch food was likewise excellent and the options endless.
Leslie was so helpful throughout the planning process. She kept us on track, in budget, and was responsive throughout. She connected us with vendors who met all of our criteria (cost, aesthetic, quality) and also encouraged and helped us with vendors we found on our own. Bartleby & Sage also has a great online system for the seating chart and layout, which made final planning steps much less stressful.
Finally, the day of coordination was perfect. My husband and I did not have to worry about any logistics and truly enjoyed our wedding weekend. It was a stress-free weekend with no behind-the-scenes snafus; we were confident throughout in Leslie's management of the details and logistics.
A few months later and we're still glowing. We cannot recommend Bartleby & Sage enough!

We love B&S!
Bartleby & Sage exceeded our expectations at every turn. We first met with Rachael at their office for a tasting, and we immediately knew they were the ones to go with. The food was delicious and presented beautifully, and we were so at ease with Rachael, who answered all of our questions (even the ones we didn't know to ask!) Once we got underway with planning, Rachael was such a huge help--we consulted her about lighting, seating charts, ceremony timing-- you name it, she was game. Even when things got stressful at times, she kept a cool head and brought us back to earth.
Our guests absolutely raved about the food!! We had a family-style meal, which was so much fun and such a lovely communal experience. We especially loved the tomato risotto and lemon caper salmon. The catering staff made sure that we got to eat, too (which is easy to forget on the big day!) and made us feel so comfortable. The passed desserts were such a fun way to keep people fueled on the dance floor, and the bar was pouring great drinks all night.
Thank you so much to Rachael and everyone at B&S for helping create such an unforgettable and wonderful night. We would highly, highly recommend them to anyone!

Wonderful to work with and amazing food & staff
Leslie and her entire staff are incredible. She is the exclusive caterer for our venue, the Wainwright House, and also served as the venue coordinator. She made planning the entire day an absolute breeze and was always responsive and on top of details. She is also clearly very experience and just a wonderful person to work with - I really trusted her and all the advice she gave. It was clear she wanted our day to be the best it could be. Everything from the food to setup was wonderful - my family and friends raved about the Tuscan table, the cake, and the food. One friend specifically said she always has low expectations for wedding food, but was surprised at how amazing the food was. My husband was also impressed by how attentive the staff were to make sure our glasses were never empty, and we were always informed where we should be next. Highly recommend for any event you are planning!

Our experience with our caterer, Bartleby & Sage, was nothing short of extraordinary. From the first bite to the last crumb, their culinary creations left our guests raving and our taste buds dancing. The slow-braised short ribs were an absolute highlight of the evening - tender, flavorful, and simply divine. Working with Stacey Cervellino Thorp, our dedicated contact at Bartleby & Sage, (and our day-of coordinator) was an absolute pleasure. Stacey not only demonstrated impeccable professionalism but also brought an infectious energy and enthusiasm to the planning process. She went above and beyond to ensure that every detail of our day was tailored to our preferences, encouraging creativity and offering valuable suggestions along the way. From our first meeting, working with Stacey immediately felt like working with a good friend. And let's not forget about the pièce de résistance - our wedding cake, expertly crafted by Bartleby & Sage's talented pastry chef, Hans Baang. We presented Hans with a challenge of a cake flavor combination he hadn’t made before. Bartleby & Sage | Alex & Carolina's Wedding 2023
Bartleby & Sage is an amazing company led by Leslie Nilsson, who was a joy to work with. The team is way more than just a catering operation as they were immensely helpful to us throughout the entire process. We got married at the Wainwright House in Rye, New York on June 10th, 2023. We highly recommend the venue as well, it’s a beautiful place.
Let’s start with the food. The food was SO delicious, and there was so much on hand with nice portion sizes. We had many friends and family telling us it was the best food they have ever had at a Wedding. We also had a few special food requests given the Bride is from Brazil and the Groom is Vegan, but they were easily incorporated into the menu. B&S made a special Risotto as one of our three main meals which had vegan cheese, and in addition to the standard baguettes for the table they made a popular bread from Brazil called Pao de Queijo (essentially cheesy bread). They also made a tasty Brazilian dessert called a Brigadeiro – the Brazilians said this one of the best they’ve ever had.
Now, onto the team. The staff’s performance was flawless, and they brought great energy throughout the entire Wedding. Leslie even brought more Brazilian staff for our big day, which was extra nice. Also worth noting that Leslie and her group serve as the day-of-planner, so they coordinated everything including our early morning prep, the Ceremony, and managed all of our vendors throughout the event. It was truly executed to perfection.
Pre-Wedding help was extraordinary. From day 1, Leslie basically served as a quasi-Wedding planner. She provided us with her top vendor recommendations (all groups they work with on a regular basis), which were also exceptional. She was extremely responsive by email and always willing to chat and make occasional trips to the venue with us. We actually didn’t hire a Wedding planner and did everything ourselves, but the process was made easier and more efficient with Leslie and her team.
Our Wedding was a magical day, and we are so grateful to Bartleby & Sage for being a huge part of it. Thank you to everyone who made our big day so perfect!!

Top Notch Wedding Caterer
Bartleby & Sage was the caterer on our wedding last August 5th at the Wainwright house. They provided the best hors d’oeuvres, dinner and desserts! I could not thank them enough for their great service from food planning, food tasting, cocktail hour, and reception. Leslie, the owner was very helpful in every way, she accommodated every little thing we asked. The servers and bartenders were very professional and made great drinks for our cocktail hour. Our first course was the burrata salad, everyone loved it! The main courses was amazing as well! Our wedding cake, it was made by Chef Hans, was the star of night! They were really kind to make us a very one-of-a-kind cake, which is called Sansrival cake, tasted great and so happy that we were able to incorporate my country’s delicacy to our wedding day. I couldn’t thank them enough for this very kind gesture. We also had brunch the next day with omelet station and mimosas and the chefs and bartenders made our brunch experience top notch. The food was amazing! From pastries to omelets to bloody marys. Me, my family and guests have zero complaints about this company. They provided us amazing food and great service! Thank you Bartleby and Sage for the nice wedding experience!

Made our foodie dreams come true!
We’re so thankful to have chosen Bartleby & Sage to cater our wedding — they were amazing from start to end! We worked with Rachael, who was both super on top of everything and also super patient and willing to work with us to get things just right (even when we flip flopped a few times!).
My husband and I really wanted the drinks and food at our wedding to be memorable and different from cookie-cutter wedding fare, and B&S really delivered! Not only were their “standard” food options already unique and different from what we’ve experienced at other weddings (I mean… look at how pretty the salad was!), but they were also able to replicate some recipes that we provided of dishes from one of our favorite restaurants in San Francisco. We also loved their bar service, and how they offered a welcome drink of Prosecco to guests as they were arriving (something we haven't seen at other weddings!). Everything was also exceedingly delicious; we had multiple guests tell us how much they enjoyed the drinks and food.
All in all, we couldn’t be happier with Bartleby & Sage, and would highly recommend them!!

The best caterers, food, and service ever!
My husband and I hired Bartleby & Sage for our wedding and man were we blown away! Stacey coordinated everything for us and I mean everything. From helping us with the menu, tastings, rentals, and coordinating with all our vendors to make sure everything went according to plan. She was an absolute pleasure to work with. She helped us stay within our budget and organize our day from beginning to end. The food Bartleby & Sage catered was out of this world. Some of our menu options were seafood paella, vegetable lasagna, and braised beef short ribs and the most delicious passed appetizers like ahi tuna tartare, edamame dumplings, empanadas, and others. The service was incredible. We couldn't be happier with our decision to hire Bartleby & Sage and Stacey. We had so many of our guest come up to us saying it had been one of the best weddings with the best food they've ever been too! Forever grateful. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Absolute the best food and the best team!
When we say we are still dreaming about the food we had on our wedding day, neither of us are exaggerating!
Bartleby & Sage was hands down the best decision we made when planning our wedding. From the very start, it was an absolute breeze working with the entire team, including the absolute rock-star human that is Rachael, who we also worked with through Bartleby & Sage as our day-of-coordinator (though she provided SO much more than that!). Every part of working with this team was fun and enjoyable, two words that aren’t often heard when planning a wedding! When it came time to make day-of decisions, Rachael was supportive and encouraging every step of the way. Her level-headedness and calm demeanor kept everything breezy, but still so exciting. We are truly so lucky to have had her as a part of our day - couldn’t have done it without your magic, Rachael!
As for the food? Our friends and family are still messaging us saying that the food was literally the best they have ever had at a wedding. Many are saying it’s the best food they’ve ever had in their entire lives! The tasting was incredible and the food on the actual day was somehow even better?! Portions were plentiful and everything came out hot from the kitchen. The staff were amazing and kind the entire night, treating everyone like family.

Delicious cocktail hour food and professional staff!
We met Leslie through our wedding planners, Nomade Weddings and we are so grateful that we did! Leslie and her team provided the cocktail hour hors d'oeurves and staffed our wedding from start to finish since we decided to go with food trucks to serve the dinner. From the tasting, we knew we had made the right decision. Leslie was so accommodating to my husband's allergies (gluten and dairy) and spun up the most delicious bite-sized food. On the day of the wedding, the staff made sure that everything ran smoothly and that the tables were always cleared. Our guests would not stop raving about the arancini balls and lobster rolls! We are so appreciative of Leslie and her team, they made our wedding delicious!

Look no further! Absolutely amazing
We really cannot recommend Bartleby & Sage enough! We recently had our wedding at The Bordone LIC. My wife and I consider ourselves foodies, as do a lot of our family members. This is why it was very important for us to pick the best! We did a few tastings with other caterers, and no one compared. They made us feel welcomed from the minute we sat down. The food was absolutely incredible all night. Our guests are still talking about the food and how delicious everything was. Especially the steak, which we heard multiple times that you did not even need a knife. We also hired Stacey as our day of coordinator, which does not do what she did justice. She was with us every step of the way. Our best decision was hiring Stacey and Barleby & Sage for our wedding. Do not look any further, because they are the best!!!! They will go above and beyond for you and provide the best wedding food and service your guests have ever had.

Bartleby & Sage was a great pick for our wedding catering! From our first tasting to our wedding day, we were so impressed by their food. Many of our guests also commented on how delicious the food was (which doesn't often happen at a wedding, especially with 165 guests). The food is also beautifully presented. The team was very accommodating of our needs and requests. The bride and members of her family have celiac disease and they were able to create so many delicious gluten free options! Overall, Stacey and the entire team were wonderful to work with and played an important part in our beautiful wedding day.

A wonderful experience!
We got married a couple of weeks ago and are still hearing about how fun, inventive and delicious the Bartleby & Sage food was at our wedding. We had a cocktail style event and their assortment of passed plates was exciting for our guests and certainly served as a form of entertainment. Guests are still raving about the s'mores and edible spoons! We also worked with Stacey as our day of coordinator. This is possibly one of the best decisions we made throughout our process. Stacey was not only calming and a steady rock for us through any challenging moments, but she is also hilarious and kind, always there to help in a graceful manner. She made the day of feel truly effortless for us and our families and we are so grateful for that peace of mind! We feel so fortunate to have worked with this team.

We were incredibly impressed with the level of professionalism and knowledge Stacey and Leslie provided us. Our wedding was on a tight time frame and the two of them were completely unfazed by it. They never overwhelmed us, but also ensured that everything was being decided at the appropriate time. We loved their recommendations and - even more - we loved how the two of them seemed to understand what we were after and act on that. I'd recommend them to any friend in a heartbeat. Stacey and Leslie are rock stars!

More amazing than we could’ve dreamt!
I can’t even put into words how AMAZING Bartleby & Sage is to work with!! I was a covid bride so obviously went through lots of stress. Everyone was so amazing to work with, always problem solving & keeping us calm. They brought every vision I had to life and it was more beautiful than I could’ve ever imagined. Our coordinator Rachael is the BEST and ran everything so smoothly. And my guests kept saying it was best food they’ve ever had! It was perfect!

Best. Decision. Made.
At the outset, my wife and I were both naive about wedding planning, so of course, we thought the caterer just handled the food at the reception. What we soon came to realize as we started our search, is that the caterer handles much, much more than just simply the food. That being said, THE BEST decision we made during our wedding planning was hiring Bartleby and Sage to cater our wedding.
Leslie’s knowledge and experience with putting together premium wedding packages, being intimately acquainted with the different venues in New York, particularly cultural institutions (we got married at the Museum of the City of New York), was extremely attractive to us, and thankfully showed up in the flawless execution of our event. She is also very easy to work with and extremely dependable as she leads with her professionalism.
She also provides a fully interactive service for rental selection/coordination, which we greatly appreciated. She personally walked us through the rental showroom, offered her advice, and answered questions on the pieces we were choosing for our vision. She also helped us solidify our layout in the venue’s space so our day would run seamlessly, and be the best fit in our unique venue space.
...and finally, the food! The food was OUTSTANDING! We were blown away from the first tasting when Leslie captured our vision for a New Orleans and Caribbean-infused menu. Our guests loved it and are still raving about it. The chef’s are top notch, and our cake was so beautiful we didn’t even want to cut it. We were extremely pleased after doing so though, because that too was extremely delicious.
To Leslie, Chef Ramon, and Han Solo, the creator of our glorious cake, THANK YOU for all that you did to make our day wonderfully memorable! You all were so delightful, friendly, and we are SO glad we had you on our team. We’re convinced the experience wouldn’t have been as wonderful without you. Again, BEST decision we made in this process outside of marrying each other! : )

EVERYTHING was so delicious
Absolutely blown away by the food at our wedding! My husband and I are definitely foodies and our caterer was probably one of the most important vendors for us. Working with Rachael and her team was so seamless and all of the food at our wedding was wonderful. The team went so far as to incorporate Korean food into our menu since me and my family are Korean! Highly recommend!

Best wedding caterer ever- value, excellent food, creatiivity, flexible, supportive!
Bartley and Sage is literally the DREAM wedding caterer. Their food is incredible and creative. Everyone at my wedding said it was the best wedding food they ever had. The unbelievable food is just the beginning of what incredible service they provide.
I was married at the Wainwright house and worked directly with Leslie. Leslie is as kind and honest as she is organized and detail oriented. She is calm and confident, making me feel great the entire process. She was super helpful in guiding me with decisions around the wedding. She made the process as stress free (and FUN) as possible.
Our tasting was a complete blast! We were BLOWN away by the quality and creativity of the food compared to the other tasting we had been to. Our wedding was pescatarian, something Leslie ran with and created an amazing menu around. I wish Leslie had a restaurant that I could go to now that my wedding is over!
Leslie did not nickel and dime me, the way I felt with other caterers had which was SUCH a breath of fresh air. I think their pricing is INCREDIBLY fair for the quality and service they provide.
The day of my wedding it was raining on and off all day. Leslie was incredibly flexible and optimistic which was awesome.
In addition to the rave compliments about the food, I got a ton of compliments about the catering staff. This was something I never expected but nevertheless I still got a zillion compliments about the professionalism and excellence of the catering staff.
I do not believe a better wedding caterer exists and would 100% recommend them. I hope my sisters use them for their weddings!!

Best choice we could ever make
We hired Bartleby and Sage as our caterer and we had Rachael as our day-of coordinator. Let me just say that everything went the best possible way and we have no complaints or regrest. The food was a huge hit and Rachael made the day go so smoothly without any hiccups.
Our wedding was during the pandemic and they were very flexible with us changing our date and guest counts.

Highly highly recommend them for any event or wedding
We selected B&S as our caterer and day-of coordinator for our original wedding date of April2020. From the start, the team at B&S was so easy to work with, they answered all of our questions quickly, and helped create a package that worked within our budget. When the pandemic hit, Rachael worked with us to reschedule multiple times and all the while was flexible and patient with us. We were finally able to (safely) host our wedding in May of 2021 and it was such a wonderful night. Rachael and the B&S team were there to bring our vision to life, flawlessly execute the day and yes, the food was delicious!

Absolutely delicious food
We are so happy we chose Bartleby and Sage to cater our wedding. First off, the food was delicious. Among the hors d'oeuvres, some of the favorites were the deconstructed elote, lobster croquette, oyster, lamb burger, and duck taquito. We chose kale salad for the first course and the main entree was a choice between slow-roasted porchetta, pan-seared duck breast, or wild mushroom ravioli (veg). All of our guests were raving about how good everything tasted. They also made our wedding cake which was absolutely beautiful and delicious. Hats off to the chef Hans and the rest of the kitchen staff. We had an indoor bar and outdoor bar, fully open for the entire duration of the reception. We took recommendations for the specialty cocktails and they were all great. The service was excellent. We had around 120 guests and the wait staff did not seem to have any issues. The bartenders also did a great job pouring drinks and keeping the lines at the bars moving. Lastly, we were so happy to work with Leslie during the planning process. We originally wanted to have a cocktail style wedding but due to the pandemic and NYC's regulations, we needed to change our wedding date and change to seated dinner. During a real stressful time, Leslie helped make everything easy for us. Overall, I don't think we have a single negative remark or criticism about Bartleby and Sage.

Look no further!
Amazingly enough, Bartleby and Sage was the first caterer I reached out to, and after getting quotes and researching many others, I came back to them. Having made the decision on The Foundry as our wedding venue, I was super intimidated by the “a la carte” style of wedding planning. Leslie put me and my fiancé at ease completely and made us feel like anything was possible! And it was. We had our dream wedding with amazing, “non traditional” food, exactly how we imagined it. Our family and friends were so impressed by the classy hors d'oeuvres and main courses. We also got multiple compliments about the quality and attentiveness of the staff during the night. I also highly recommend booking Leslie’s planning services. I didn’t have to worry about anything day of. And prior to the wedding, somehow Leslie made us feel like we were her only client, taking multiple days to help us with the rentals at the rental studio. And a bonus, is that this was the only catering company that offered a complimentary tasting. Other companies wanted us to throw down many thousands of dollars without even tasting their food...sorry that was not an option! Definitely look no further than Bartleby and Sage for your caterer!

Delicious food, outstanding service
Rachel Livingston-Meko and the team at Bartleby & Sage were outstanding from day one. When we went to do the tasting Rachel was so excited to dream up a perfect menu with us and got the vibe we were going for straight away. When I couldn't make my mind up about chairs and we changed the table layouts a million times she was patient and understand, and as a day-of coordinator she was the perfect balance of communicative and chilled out, nothing seemed like it was a big deal and the flow of the day went really well. When I chickened out of doing the first dance and she smoothly went on to the next thing without batting an eyelid. Bartleby & Sage make the best food we tried, and we tried a few. The menu they put together had everyone talking, my mother still won't shut up about it! They picked up all our bits and pieces the day before to take to the venue in the morning and made sure we had everything when we were clearing out of the venue that night, Rachel even made sure there was some pie in our hotel suite as I was so busy trying to talk to anyone I didn't get to have desert. It's the little touches like that which make me so excited to recommend Bartleby & Sage, the dedication and care are balanced with a kind human connection and the mac and cheese is out of this world.

Such good food and amazing staff
We hired Bartleby and Sage for our catering and day of coordination. The menu they put together was exactly what we wanted (food was one of our top priorities for the wedding) from incredibly tasty passed appetizers (lamb chops were a favorite) and signature cocktails to a beautifully plated dinner, passed desserts and late night fried food. They were incredibly flexible when we wanted to change aspects of a dish and it all came out so great! We also loved working with Rachael for our day of needs, she managed all the vendors expertly and I had zero stress the day of! She was also incredibly responsive over email and helped us nail all the details, providing incredibly helpful advice around every decision and handling all the details (and I had many in full disclosure) perfectly. Highly recommend both Bartleby & Sage and Rachael!

Bartleby & Sage was a true god-send. If you are struggling to decide between a few different vendors, just stop the madness and choose Bartleby. The food was incredible and everyone couldn't stop raving about it. Molly from Bartleby also served as our day of coordinator. She helped us soooooo much during the planning process, was always available for input, and executed the wedding flawlessly. We could not have done it without her help and the amazing work of the head chef and pastry chef (HUGE SHOUT OUT!) and all other staff there! HIGHLY RECOMMEND BARTLEBY AND MOLLY BALLARD! We will absolutely be using theirs and her services again.

Bartleby & Sage - Wedding Catering
When I think about the best thing about working with Leslie and the Bartleby and Sage team its almost impossible to rank order of what they did best. Needless to say having amazing tasting, quality food and drink at the wedding is high on the list, but additionally almost totally stress-free planning that is totally flexible (you want a bourbon cart, a craft beer bar and a carvel ice-cream cake...no problem) is up there too. Also what's the point of planning being easy and food bring great if the team working at our wedding on the night were not so great - the servers were fun, polite and so helpful and the kitchen team made sure everything ran so smoothly. Its too hard to say one thing that makes Bartley & Sage so great so take my word for it, it would be hard to find a catering team that makes planning the wedding as fun and easy, lets you enjoy the wedding and not worry about anything and generates literally hundreds of comments from guests about the amazing food, huge and plentiful drink selection and awesome staff.

Thrilled with Bartleby & Sage!
We hired Bartleby & Sage to cater our 200+ person, brunch wedding at 26 Bridge in Dumbo, Brooklyn. Rachael was our point person and she was amazing to work with. She really understood our vision and put together a menu proposal that was exactly what we wanted. She then stayed on top of every single detail every step of the way. Their team is creative and talented. The food was delicious and looked amazing. They helped us create a cutom bloody mary bar with unique toppings that our guests can't stop raving about. We can't say enough good things about them and are hoping to attend future events catered by them!
Bartleby & Sage’s presentation, culinary talent and staff professionalism on our wedding day were stellar. But equally important to my husband Sam and I was the creative process Molly conducted with us in the months leading up to it. Neither of us came in with “dream day” ideas, so it was a major benefit to have Molly’s expert insights on everything AND her encouragement for us to discover and do things that fit our values. There were some things we were doing “differently” with the wedding (including using a space that had never been used for events before), and Molly’s artist-oriented approach was fabulous: new structures and weird limitations were just reasons to get more creative. It worked. Throughout the planning process, we could also sense her respect for her chefs and wait staff, which was important to us.
Ultimately, food-wise, our appetizers were a fusion of Asian cuisines and came out spectacularly. The main dinner and desserts was a completely different cuisine. We got compliments on it all. Our goodbye gifts for guests were edible. Molly also helped us plan a physical setup for the space that truly emphasized that our wedding was a feast – a community gathering over
a shared meal. We’d recommend the staff and chefs at Bartleby & Sage to anyone thinking about a catered wedding. We felt we had an ally during this period of time that we knew could be filled with anxiety. Guest count: ~240 people.

My wife and I hired Bartleby and Sage to cater our wedding and could not be happier with their performance. We worked primarily with Leslie and from the get go she was attentive to our needs, responsive to emails, and an all-around pleasant person to work with. We’re both vegetarians and she was not only able to build an exquisite, (mostly) meat free menu, but did an excellent job of finding ways to incorporate meat on the side to satisfy our non vegetarian guests. Shortly before the wedding, we also hired Leslie for her day-of planning services, which was a huge help. With her presence, the day ran without a hiccup, and knowing that she was taking care of the little details that we just didn’t want to think about on our big day took a lot of stress off of our backs. During the wedding, the staff was kind, efficient, and extremely professional. In summary, we strongly recommend hiring Bartleby and Sage - you won’t be disappointed.

Leslie and her team at Bartleby and Sage were amazing! They were so accommodating and professional from start to finish. They made the day and everyone is still talking about how incredible the food and drinks were. From our first tasting which was free! Oh my goodness, you can spend so much money just on tastings alone trying to find the right caterer. Leslie was amazing- she even let my mom come at no additional cost. The tasting was out of this world. She was warm and inviting. You knew immediately you were in great hands. We tasted almost everything we asked for and it was a no brainer. We knew we were going with Bartleby & Sage. They will also work with in your budget and give you different options to choose from cost wise and not make you feel any which way about it. With some other caterers they can make you feel almost bad for being on a budget. Not Bartleby & Sage; They are so down to earth and just want to help you create something awesome. I would recommend them 100 times over- And like I said- the food was truly unbelievably delicious and Leslie was incredible. I can't thank them enough for making the day everything I dreamt of.

My husband and I reached out to many caterers during the wedding planning process. We sent each of them some background on ourselves and what we were envisioning for the day. Bartleby and Sage was the only one that immediately emailed us with a list of options that really felt tailored to us and our taste, not a sample menu of expected wedding food. Leslie is a seasoned caterer with strong relationships across the industry, she was immensely helpful in helping sort out all of our rentals and offered her perspective on what we should and shouldn't invest in. All of our guests could not stop talking about the food her and her team prepared for us, and the professionalism of the staff day-of. We highly recommend B&S!

PERFECT.

The food is PHENOMENAL. Truly. Our wedding was 5 days ago and people are still talking about it.
We went with stations and 6 passed apps.
We opted for the Homage to Summer Station and the American Traditional.
We had a lot of vegetarians so Leslie found an amazing vegetarian gumbo for us....and the spicy fried chicken was to die for. People kept asking us if we got any leftovers....but it was so good, that, no! It was all gone.
The collard greens - as described by some of our friends born and raised in Alabama - were the best collard greens they've ever had.
Our guests all wanted to know if Bartleby & Sage had a restaurant....I think they should! We'd dine there all the time :)
You won't regret it and your guests will thank you too!

It is hard to find words that do justice to the memorable, breath taking and relaxing experience that it was working with Bartleby & Sage. I still cannot believe my luck in finding Bartleby and Sage and having the opportunity to work with them! The food, was AH-MAZING!! We had a lovely tasting over at their kitchens, and had the opportunity to taste test a variety of options before choosing them. We did a cocktail style wedding with lots of passed hors d'oeuvres, small plates, and a station, so the variety of food was unbelievable. Just to make your mouth water a little, we had: salmon, risotto, rack of lamb, ratatouille, short rib, potato cakes... YUM!! Just very high quality and delicious food. I don't normally care for wedding food, but this was so far from that. I'm already trying to come up with another event, just so I can have them cater. :) Overall, I really couldn't have asked for a better caterer. Leslie was also the day-of coordinator, and she was just so great in making sure I wasn't frazzled, that everything went smoothly, that the guests were comfortable, and that the flow of the wedding went as we had envisioned it. Thank goodness I fell in love with Bartleby & Sage's Truffle Macaroni and Cheese! If I had not tasted one of their signature dishes at a charity event, I would never have asked them to cater my mother's 75th birthday lunch! The chef, caterer, and server were all unbelievably pleasant to work with, and my mother and the rest of our party guests could not stop talking about how amazing and beautiful their food was! From the finger sandwiches and other appetizers to the kale salad and roast chicken and that magic mac & cheese, everyone was charmed and well-fed. The birthday cake (with real flowers crowning it) was perfection! I look forward to another special occasion so that we can use Bartleby & Sage again!

We booked Bartleby and Sage for our "after the wedding" reception at the Brooklyn Historical Society. I couldn't be more pleased with Greta and the Bartleby staff. Greta was so accommodating and flexible with my schedule. She understood our vision very quickly and I completely trusted her to help us budget and brings things to life. She also served as our day of coordinator. She handled all the details beautifully and never made me feel like I was a bother even though I occasionally ran late to a vendor meeting or was indecisive about some details. Greta went out of her way to make things fun and comfortable for us and we couldn't be happier. Our reception was so seamless and memorable. My husband mentioned that his drink was never empty because a staff member kept bringing him refills. Our guests are still commenting on how charming and plentiful the staff was. These are the kind of people you hope to work with while planning your wedding!

We *loved* working with Leslie and Greta from the very beginning of the wedding planning process until the very end of our wedding reception (and beyond, we're still thrilled!). My correspondence with Bartleby & Sage began with Leslie but we worked almost exclusively with Greta and I'm sure we would have been in great hands with either. Greta was a lifesaver and she also performed double duty for us as our day-of coordinator.
Your caterer plays such a large role in your wedding that you really want to make sure that you pick well. I could not have imagined our wedding without Bartleby & Sage. First and foremost, their food is delicious and their skills are so versatile that they can accommodate any taste. Everything from the hors d'oeuvres to the entrees to dessert was beautifully presented and prepared. You will not be disappointed!
Secondly, catering in NYC is such a jaw dropping expense. Having shopped around a bit before deciding on Bartleby & Sage, I think you get an extraordinary value for all that they offer. I thought that we were working with a reasonable budget but some vendors will leave you feeling as though you are scraping the bottom of the barrel of their services. Bartleby & Sage let us know right away that they would be able to offer our guests the experience we wanted with the budget we had available and there were no surprises or hidden expenses anywhere. They were incredibly honest and upfront at every stage which was a huge relief. Their food is so modern and excellent, the staff was attentive and gracious (and they made sure that my now husband (!!) and I had plenty to eat!), dessert was beautifully laid out and every question or concern was immediately addressed.
As our day of coordinator, Greta took everything off my shoulders and made sure that the day went smoothly and that everything was where it was supposed to be at the right time. That is priceless! I could not recommend them more highly.

Bartleby and Sage catered our wedding in Brooklyn on July 30, 2016 at The Green Building. When we were initially looking for a wedding caterer, we were between them and a different company. We actually went with the other company first but after a few months, we realized the other company was not a good fit for us, so we canceled that contract and switched to Bartleby. I cannot say enough how happy we are that we made the switch. First, if you are choosing between catering companies (which I am sure you are), just go with Bartleby and Sage - you wont regret it.
On to WHY…
We worked with Leslie to coordinate the perfect menu, rentals, layout, staffing and everything else related to catering. She was AMAZING. I won’t put it past me that I am a demanding bride. I had a million questions, am very meticulous, and had a plan of my own. Leslie was able to handle all of this with stride, always responding in a timely manner and making me feel like everything was under control. These are not things you always look for in reviews of vendors, but let me tell you – it is very important (and also part of why we canceled the other caterer).
The food was fantastic – we had a raw bar, passed hors d'oeuvres, and a cheese station during cocktail hour. Then a plated salad followed by a buffet dinner. The staff was great at making sure everything ran smoothly, wine was poured during dinner and that everyone was getting food during cocktail hour. Food was abundant, delicious, and NO ONE left hungry.
Leslie was there the entire night making sure things were running smoothly and that everything was on point.
On a personal note, Leslie is also lovely to work with. She knows catering very well, knows what she is doing and is a sweet woman.
I really can’t say enough how happy we are that we made the switch to Bartleby and Sage and will recommend to anyone and use them for future events. Thank you!!!

Bartleby & Sage was the perfect choice for our wedding reception! They specifically tailored our menu to fit our budget and they were extremely responsive and professional throughout the whole planning process. Although we didn't use a wedding planner or decorator, Greta made the whole wedding reception run so smoothly. She set up our DIY decorations and welcome table for us and coordinated the timing of the reception with our band. The food was delicious and we got a lot of compliments from our guests! I highly recommend Bartleby & Sage- they made everything so easy for us so we could just enjoy the wedding day!

My husband and I hired Leslie to cater our wedding at The Foundry in November 2015, and we are so glad we did! There were so many wonderful parts about working with Leslie (and toward the end of the process Greta as well) that it's difficult to know where to begin.
Leslie was always responsive and flexible from the first time I reached out, and she truly was creative with thinking of different ways to customize our menu and organize our venue and timeline. The food was absolutely delicious, and guests were so impressed by the displays (we chose to do food stations for dinner, and a cheese table with passed canapes for cocktail hour) and service. We felt very well attended to throughout the evening without the service being overbearing, and we also believed we received a very fair price for the incredible quality of food and service.
Initially, I did not plan to use the day-of-coordinating services offered at an incremental cost, because I'm a very organized person so thought I could handle it all, but a few weeks before the wedding I realized I could use the help, and hiring Leslie and Greta to assist was a wonderful decision! They took charge leading up to the event and on the day-of, and I never had to think twice about whether or not something was on track. They executed my vision beautifully, and allowed me to enjoy our special day, worry-free.
The only slight negative (which really was not their fault) was that the end cost for renting furniture/place settings/etc. from a third party vendor came in quite a bit higher than initially estimated by Bartleby & Sage. However, we were ultimately thrilled with the choices in furniture Leslie helped us with, and it was worth the cost.
We could not recommend Leslie and Greta more highly - particularly for events in the NYC area, which they clearly know very well. They were exceptional on all fronts, and we are so grateful that we found them!

I have been a patron for years at the restaurant in Long Island City and recently had Bartleby and Sage cater an event. I cannot say enough about this team; the expertise, attention to detail, ease in which they work and their phenomenal palette for flavor and food selection is without a doubt the best I have ever experienced. Bartleby & Sage were absolutely wonderful to work with. We got married in Brooklyn on Saturday, and couldn't have been happier with our experience. They worked within our relatively tight budget to give us a wedding that seemed much more expensive than it was. Our food was outstanding (people raved about both the hors d'oeuvres and the dinner - even the salad got raves), the service was extremely efficient, warm, and professional (also a really good-looking crew, incidentally), and the space was set up quickly and looked absolutely beautiful.
Mostly, though, I have to give a HUGE shout-out to Greta, our day-of-coordinator. Our wedding, honestly, would just not have happened without her. She was extremely competent, kind, responsive to all emails/phone calls, worked with all of our other vendors, and just pulled the whole thing together beautifully. Worth every penny!

We worked with Bartleby and Sage for the catering for our wedding, Leslie and Greta specifically. They were very professional and responsive through the whole process. They helped us customize our menu, the hor d'ouerves specifically, to really showcase little details about each of us. They made modern and delicious versions of a lot of favorite foods, presented in adorable and memorable ways (mini grilled cheeses with tomato soup shots, mini fish and chips in a flower pot, etc). The guests loved them! The dinner menu was also excellent - delicious and beautifully presented. Lastly, the rental process was seamless - Leslie/Greta were very helpful and made it very simple. Catering staff was also excellent, very professional!

I am forever grateful for Leslie, Greta, and Michael for helping my husband and I have the most amazing wedding ever.
Our initial wedding venue had an unfortunate closure just months before our anticipated wedding date, and my husband and I had to scramble to book a whole new venue, on a new date and hire all new vendors in just a matter of months. It would not have been possible had we not contacted Leslie.
Leslie was extremely helpful from beginning to end. She answered all of our questions quickly and she explained everything and was very patient with my husband and I. There were tons of decisions we had to make and she walked us through everything and offered so many helpful suggestions. She also was kind enough to refer us to some other amazing vendors.
We were lucky enough to have both Leslie and Greta assist with planning our wedding. They were both so incredibly knowledgeable about how to set up the space, how to set up the timeline for the night, and they paid so much attention to details that I never even would have thought of.
They were so professional and on top of everything, that it was just a complete joy to work with them.
The day of the wedding was just amazing. Everything was so organized. Michael was our Event Captain and everything went so smoothly. The venue looked absolutely gorgeous! It was more beautiful than I could even have imagined.
The food was hands down just incredible. Two words: Pie Station. You will not be sorry. I could rave more about the food, however, there’s a word limit to this review!
Our guests are still raving about the food, the décor, the servers, everything! It was really just a magical and wonderful experience and it totally wouldn’t have been possible without Bartleby & Sage. Stop your search for a caterer because you have found them: Bartleby & Sage. Working with Greta was an absolute dream and I really just cannot recommend her highly enough. Let her help you! Because you need the help, we all need the help! Weddings are a nightmare if you don't know what you're doing, and how on earth would you know what you're doing?? Chances are you've never done this before, but Greta and Bartleby & Sage? They've done it a few times and they know what they are doing. Greta was an angel and she helped us at every step along the way: from picking rentals, to recommending other vendors (all great), to even helping us find our venue, to (most importantly) being our day of coordinator...I would have completely lost my mind without her.
Ok, so now that all that coordination/planning stuff is out of the way (and really, that is the best money you will spend for your wedding...it is NOT that much more to have them help you with planning coordination, and the value goes so far beyond the price)...let's talk about food. Oh my god, the food. We knew we wanted something other than the chicken/fish/steak you get at 90% of weddings (if that's what you want, I am sure they can do it better than anyone else), and we loved that we could do multiple food stations with them. My husband is from Nashville and we met in NYC, so we went with the Tennessee Whole Hog station (whole hog plus greens, slaw, biscuits), and the New York station (salmon, wild mushroom ravioli, kale salad). My mouth is watering now just thinking about it. It's almost a month later and I am STILL getting compliments on the food. In my experience with weddings (and we've been to about 20 in the last few years), people don't really notice or talk about the food. Not the case here...people couldn't stop talking about it and we got cleaned out. I haven't even mentioned the hors d'oeuvres and the pies (all so good). I'm running out of space so I'll just say: HIRE THEM, you will thank me.

Leslie from Bartleby and Sage literally saved my wedding. When I found out less than two weeks from my wedding date that my venue was not going to be available, it could have been a disaster. Instead Leslie found us a new venue within days and was able to organize with all our other vendors so that the wedding not only went on as planned, but was a huge success.
Leslie was fantastic to work with, even before everything happened with the venue. And afterward everyone could not stop talking about how great the food was. I can't say it strongly enough, if you want a great experience for your wedding, you can't do better than Bartleby and Sage.

We served food buffet-style for 150 guests and every guest I spoke to mentioned how good the food was, especially compared to any other wedding to which they'd been. About Us:
Both our ceremony and reception were at the Picnic House in Prospect Park, Brooklyn, on September 15 (2013). We had 120 guests (including kids), and our two families are Chinese and Canadian, so there was a diverse mix of people in attendance!
Overall experience:
We were extremely happy with the quality of service we received from Bartleby & Sage. We met with several caterers, and it was an easy decision to make after we met with Leslie (owner) and Greta (wedding coordinator) at Sage General Store in Long Island City; they are highly praised for the work they do, and we can attest to that fact.
Planning experience:
Leslie took the time to sit down with us and go over our thoughts and plans for the wedding, and we talked about her background and experience (which is impressive). She took the time to answer all of our questions. We also met Greta, who we chose as our wedding coordinator, and over the next 9 months, worked with us on our menu, rentals (she took us to the rental showroom), and the schedule of events. Even when we had last-minute adjustments, Greta made sure they were taken care of. A week before the wedding, Greta was coordinating with all of our other vendors, and made sure everyone was on track.
Food:
The food was delicious. Our favorite part of the planning was choosing our menu, and we had a lot of fun at our tasting. Sage did a perfect job of keeping the in-restaurant quality of food when serving off-site (at the venue). Leslie and Greta worked with us to do a couple Canadian and Asian-style appetizers for our cocktail hour, which was a fun way to blend the two cultures.

Greta was fundamental in making our wedding perfect. She was truly “in her element” on the wedding day. She kept everything and everyone on track. She’s a true professional, and was very accommodating with any kind of questions or requests. She kept things calm, cool and collected.

I just... I can't even... I mean I can't imagine anyone doing a better job. Please, do yourself a favor, stop your caterer search and go with Bartleby and Sage. Request Greta. Move on to the next thing on your wedding to do list.
My wife and I (and our guests!) cannot say enough about how fantastic a job Bartleby and Sage did in catering our wedding. We did a DIY wedding. We were our own planners, a friend of ours designed things aesthetically, which left us to find a caterer. We hate wedding food. Neither my wife nor I wanted the standard steak/salmon option with some rubbery veggies. We wanted things like fried chicken and cheddar biscuits, but also black sea bass with mango chutney and corn succotash.
When we first met with them, Greta sat us down and talked to us first about what we were looking for and then presented options based around our budget. She will offer an extra fee to make sure that she is a) present when you go to arrange the rentals with the rental company as well as b) over seeing everything on the day. In the midst of so many wedding costs this can seem like just another added expense, however this was one of the best investments we made. Greta became an intrinsic part of the day and evening. So many things come up on the day that it is impossible to see. By the middle of the party my best man was referring to her by name and saying that she had the best suggestion as to how we should proceed, and he (and she) was always right.
And the food was amazing. Multiple guests, both old and young, said it was the best food they had ever had at a wedding.
At the end of everything, she handed us two plates of food to bring back to the hotel with us and said "you are not hungry now, but you will be in two hours." Again, she was right.
There are so many things to figure out with the wedding. We searched all over the place. Seriously, stop, you found it. It's Bartleby and Sage.

I loved working with Greta! She was completely amenable to our requests for Indian food at the reception and my toughest critic (my mother) enjoyed the food! Greta does not just facilitate the menu, but she is also the wedding planner and made sure that all of the guests knew where to go and what to do. It was a sweltering hot outdoor wedding and Greta made sure that there were cold water bottles for the guests. Hans, who is their baker made us a beautiful and more importantly delicious wedding cake. My wedding was in July and I didn't start planning it until May; everything turned out great in a really short amount of time.

Leslie, Greta and the entire staff of Bartleby and Sage were absolutely wonderful. They answered emails quickly, were happy to schedule a site visit and tasting very early in our planning process and were always pleasant to work with. I'm sure they've catered many large events, but the attention to detail to our 80 person reception made my groom and I feel special.
Greta helped guide my fiance and I through the table and place setting rental process and even suggested little touches like getting colored paper straws to serve with the raspberry lemonade which was a big hit. She also stopped by our table throughout the wedding night to make sure everything was good and that we were happy.
I've heard many brides complain that they were so busy they didn't eat on their wedding day, but Bartleby and Sage made sure that was not the case. During our photo session after the ceremony when everyone else was attending cocktail hour, they sent several staff with hors d'oeuvres and water to serve our wedding party and family.
The food was all delicious and their vegetarian options were amazing which was important to me since I'm a vegetarian. Their petit-fours dessert selection was also great and they were happy to cut and serve a dessert made by my mother-in-law. We were also able to substitute a traditional Filipino lumpia for one of our hors d'oeuvres selections. When we first met with Leslie and she found out my fiance was Filipino, she asked if we wanted a whole pig which is a traditional meal. Her immediate willingness to roast an entire pig for our wedding if we wanted it sealed the deal to hire Bartleby and Sage.
In general the pricing for most of my wedding vendors caught me off guard, but to know that I was going to be having a professional and courteous staff, delicious food and not have to worry that something wouldn't be just right, hiring Bartleby and Sage was worth every penny.

I hosted a corporate event at a nursing home in May 2013, and I have nothing but great things to say about Bartleby and Sage. We only booked them with a weeks notice, and everything came out phenomenal! Leslie, Greta and all of their staff were so great. The food was excellent, and Leslie really did a great job with putting everything together so wonderfully. I can't wait to book Bartleby and Sage in the future! I would definitely recommend to all!

BEST CATERING SERVICE EVER! Exactly what we wanted. We interviewed 10 different caterers and luckily we finally found this company. One of the best decisions. Delish food and extremely lovely and accommodating staff.

What made us go with Bartley and Sage? Not only was the food amazing, but Leslie and the entire staff was extremely personable and attentive. What really sealed the deal for us was when we stopped by the general store to check it out and the staff was so excited to have us taste the food. It really showed us how much everyone on the team really enjoys working there and the passion they all share for delicious food.
In the few weeks leading up to the wedding, I got to work closely with Greta and I am so happy I got the chance to. Greta, is very personable and immediately puts you right at ease. She took care of everything, including setting up the tasting, the walk through at the venue, checking on the rental items, sending me a floor plan, and ensuring she had the contact information of all our vendors. All helping to make our day run smoothly which, of course, helped put my mind at ease. All of our guest complimented the service of the staff, how they were so professional and attentive. Oh yes, and the food WAS AMAZING! As my Mom said "it started fantastic and was better with each bite!".

I absolutely loved working with Bartleby and Sage. Everyone complimented us after our wedding about the food and the service - and the food was incredibly delicious and the service was perfect - but what we valued even more than the catering was everything else that Greta and Leslie helped us with. They were like wedding planners and caterers in one. They responded quickly and completely to my many calls and emails, and really went above and beyond. Every part of our wedding seemed to go even better than we expected, and we have Bartleby and Sage to thank. I would highly recommend them.

Sage was an excellent company to work with. They provided great options for our budget, the staff was friendly and accommodating, and during our event they were professional and friendly! The food (we did canapes only) was creatively prepared, delicious, and quiet filling for a great price.

My husband and I had Bartleby and Sage cater our wedding last week at Attic Studios in Long Island CIty. Bartleby and Sage is far more than a caterer and needs to be praised for being an amazing event planner in addition to providing the highest quality food and drink. Greta, who worked with us from start to finish, helped us plan and execute the most personal wedding--from helping us find the perfect space to setting everything from flower petals and champagne the day of. Greta walked with us through the entire process with a supreme professionalism that was always combined with incredible warmth and personal support.
Besides from being a an incredible caterer, with delicious food made from local products, Bartleby and Sage is an honest and customer focused service. Regardless of the size of our wedding (only about 100 people) they treated us with respect and were always up front and transparent about costs, which is an unusual gift in the world of NYC weddings.
After the event, the owner, Leslie, followed up with us to make sure we were fully satisfied. We really had no idea what we were doing when we started this process and Bartleby and Sage made us feel like our wedding really mattered.
The result was an incredibly personal,, warm, and joyful affair. Our guests said, across the board, that it was one of the nicest weddings they have ever been too.

My wife and I live out of state and relied on Sage Events to lead us through the process of planning our daughter's wedding. For months before the event, Leslie became our trusted adviser and friend of the family, helping us find the best local vendors for a variety of services.
Our day-of-event manager, Greta, was stellar. The food was exceptional, the planning thorough, and the event flawless. We are grateful for the work of the entire staff of Sage Events for a most memorable day.

Sage Events was hands down one of the best choices for vendors for our wedding. I did the wedding planning by myself with the support of my now wonderful hubby. Sage was the only caterer, out of 6 we interviewed, that worked with us on all levels: food selection, in house baked goods, amazing staff and very reasonable price for our budget. We loved them and guarantee you will too. Happy planning!

Sage Events is an amazing company to work with and I know that they will always provide the highest quality of products. As an Event Planner, I swear by using Leslie for all my catering needs. She loves to create unique menus for each of her clients and strives to make everything flawless. I have been working with Sage Events for the last five years and they are outstanding!! We are a small not for profit and Sage does the catering for our modest fundraising event (about 75 people). The staff at Sage worked with me on planning a menu that was upscale, yet affordable. All of the food items we have chosen for our events have been delicious (the crab cakes and coconut shrimp are standouts!!).
Overall, the quality of the food and the professionalism of the staff are unmatched. I give Sage Events my highest recommendation.

We chose Bartleby & Sage for our November 2017 wedding at the Prospect Park Picnic House because we loved their food. They also provided planning services for our event. Molly had a great handle on everything and we felt very comfortable. Everything moved like clockwork on the day of. All of our guests raved about the food, and we truly believe it's the best wedding food we've ever had.

Greta and her team were fabulous to work with. Planning a wedding is a very unique experience, and sometimes the number of options and decisions can be overwhelming. Greta helped every step of the way, providing advice whenever asked, but allowing our vision to shine through to the end. Everyone said that our food was delicious, and the room looked beautiful. I barely noticed the staff, in a good way — which to me is the ultimate sign of great service. Would definitely recommend!

Sage catered our wedding and it was AMAZING. We had eaten at the restaurant many times and were a little nervous how cooking for 100 would be compared to cooking for 2. The food was so so so good and we got tons of compliments from guests. There were a few times leading up to the wedding where we had to correct them (numbers on the contract, food we had chosen, etc.), but everything worked out in the end. The staff was fantastic...very friendly and accommodating. We would recommend them to anybody!!

Bartleby and Sage could not have been A better choice for our wedding. Greta was so great to work with throughout our planning process, and the day-of team was so fantastic even our guests commented on the quality of service (usually at weddings, I never even really notice staff members). They snuck food and drinks to me and my new husband during cocktail hour, so we were able to try everything. The food was great, service even better. We felt lucky to work with Bartleby and Sage! Our guests were super impressed and happy. Highly, highly recommended.

We'd gone to a few tastings before Bartleby & Sage's and before the evening there was over, we knew we were going to choose them as our caterers. We felt so well taken care of by Leslie and Greta from the start. They didn't just have us sample food but also start to look at possible color themes and other things that the other caterers didn't do. Greta became the person in charge of our wedding and we were in great hands. Her guidance and flexibility were invaluable. The day of the wedding, she made us feel well taken care of so we could just enjoy ourselves, which we did. Everything went smoothly in great part thanks to Greta and her staff.

Having Bartleby and Sage cater my wedding was a truly awesome experience. It's not an exegeratiom to say that they went above and beyond what could be expected from a caterer. Leslie and Greta were great to work with and their staff was amazing. From the very beginning, they were there every step of the way helping us plan our wedding. They we very helpful, even handling things that were outside of what they were obligated to handle for us. The day of the wedding couldn't have gone smoother. Everything was set up on time, the staff was awesome and Leslie and Greta were right there in the middle of everything to make sure things were running well. The staff also were very helpful with guests with disabilities, making sure that everyone was well taken care of. Needless to say, the food was awesome, which is why we went with them in the first place. They did a great job putting together a menu that fit our personalities and cultural backgrounds. The meal was to die for and our guests went home very well fed and very much satisfied. I can't say enough about how great it was to work with Bartleby and Sage, they contributed to making my wedding a very special and memorable day.

Bartleby & Sage Fall NYC Wedding
We had Bartleby & Sage cater our wedding in NYC. Every part of the process was fantastic. Stacey, our event planner, was wonderful to work with, and she accommodated every detailed request that we had including specific cocktail cherries, ice, and outfits for the staff. Roman's food was delicious and was plated spectacularly. The cake baked by Hans was also a fantastic hit, and we received several compliments. Can't recommend enough. Bravo and thank you!

First and foremost, you must know that the quality of food Bartleby & Sage provide is top notch! They really make it a point to tweak the menu to what you want and present it beautifully. The staff was well presented and very attentive. Greta did a great job helping us save money with our choices without diminishing the quality nor our desires. That being said I would suggest not to purchase their day of services with Greta. While Greta did a wonderful job helping with the catering and such before the big day she definitely dropped the ball on a lot of important things during the event including the timeline, seating and a few other important duties of a day of coordinator. However, while for future events we would choose to use a different provider for day of coordinating, we would definitely use and would highly recommend Bartleby & Sage for catering services.

We worked very closely with both Leslie and Greta for our April wedding at The Foundry. Both were amazing to work with. We are so glad that we went with Bartleby and Sage as our caterers! After meeting with so many, we loved how flexible they were and how interested they were in really getting to know us and what we wanted. They worked with our budget and helped us think of which areas to spend more/less money on. They even helped achieve our vision of having an antipasto course before dinner, which was beautiful (guests also raved about it). The food on the day of the wedding was AMAZING - so many people have mentioned it to me since. Greta was our day of coordinator and she was phenomenal. She was so calm and collected, but also made sure to get everything done. She came to our rehearsal and helped everything run smoothly, and on the day of she and her staff were so kind and helpful. Everything we had planned was executed perfectly. I cannot thank Bartleby and Sage enough - our wedding would not have been what it was without them! Thank you Leslie and Greta and everyone else at Bartleby and Sage!!

Delicious! We had Bartleby & Sage cater our bridal party lunch the day of our wedding, while we were getting ready with hair and makeup. We picked them last minute -- literally just a couple days before -- and they totally came through! The food was delicious, fresh, healthy and just what I wanted to eat on my wedding day. Definitely recommend for small -- or large -- events!

Greta and the team at Bartleby & Sage are wonderful and helped to make our August wedding at The Picnic House in Prospect Park so special. Both she and Leslie were patient with our many questions and helped us design a unique and delicious menu (highlights: chilled gazpacho shots and a taco bar) that guests are still complimenting months later. Greta is very experienced and has a calming, no-nonsense “I’ve got this” attitude, which is very helpful during the stress of wedding planning and really made us feel at ease, especially on our wedding day. All of the staff who worked our wedding were professional and seemed very experienced. We were on a budget and had been debating between B&S and a caterer that was less expensive but not as personal, but B&S helped us work within our budget and the personal touches, beautiful displays and overall quality really made a difference. Highly recommend them!

Bartleby and Sage catered our wedding on Oct 26, 2013. We were very pleased with the service and advice we got from Leslie and Greta. They were professional, open, and easy to work with. They listened to our concerns and changed their service accordingly. They advised how to go by the rental, the food, and the organization of the event in the Queens Botanical Garden. It really helped that they had a working knowledge of the Queens Botanical Garden's wedding venue. We also found our photographer and cake baker through Bartleby and Sage.
Leslie and Greta's tips were very insightful and helpful, and our wedding went that much smoother because of it. They were very patient with our constantly changing ideas about the tables and event space arrangements. For the wedding day, we hired Greta as our day-of-coordinator. And she did a fantastic job to navigate us through the whole event and make sure everything and everyone was in place.
Bartleby and Sage also attended closely to our dietary needs, and changed the menu accordingly. We really appreciated that. The food was amazing and our guests really enjoyed themselves. At the end everything was set up as agreed; the event was a great success and we will have a great memory of our wedding day. Thank you Leslie and Greta!

It was very difficult picking a caterer long distance for our daughter's wedding. We were very fortunate that we picked Sage Events for the reception at the Picnic House in Prospect Park, Brooklyn. The entire event and food service and price was exceptional and we would highly recommend them again.

Sage Catering was amazing! I really can't say enough about their food and the service. Even two years after our wedding we always get compliments on how amazing the food was at our wedding.
Leslie has such a good understanding of what kind of food will work for your wedding theme and she will work within your budget. The staff is on point and without me being alerted they fix some issues that were the result of my poor planning. If you use Sage you will have peace of mind that your food and food service will be flawless. Worth every penny we spent.

Finding a good caterer can be quite difficult. Bartleby & Sage came to our rescue and wound up being very helpful. They helped make our vision come true, but the real questions I would want to know are, was the day of service and food any good? Absolutely! Beautiful and delicious.

Great food and presentation, flexible and professional service
We worked with Leslie and Katherine for our 170 person wedding at Sound River Studios. High up on the list of things we cared about getting right for our wedding was the food so we reached out to many caterers in the wedding planning process. In the end, though a few caterers including B&S were well-rated and flexible with pricing, we settled on B&S for three reasons we felt were invaluable - we'd heard rave reviews about the food from friends who had been to B&S-catered weddings, B&S cares about food presentation, and Leslie had experience working at our venue.
Some other things we enjoyed leading up to the wedding: The complimentary tasting was a wonderful experience and gave us all the more confidence in Leslie and her team. We could provide our own liquor and dessert for the wedding. Though we were having a buffet, they offered an option to have a plated salad course so that our guests would have something to do while waiting for their turn in line. B&S kills it from a flexibility perspective; I think you'd be hard pressed to find a lot of other caterers who would offer these things without being asked.
As the wedding date neared, Leslie became more and more communicative with us, and so much so that we felt like we had someone on our team fighting to make the day we wanted happen. As an example, the week of our wedding, I decided I wanted ice cream but when I found out our venue's kitchen did not have a freezer I almost nixed the idea. Leslie wrote me several times to reassure me that she could provide dry ice and it would be fine. Our day went off without a hitch and was everything we wanted, and I believe it's in large part due to Leslie's staff staying so professional. They took care of us during the cocktail hour and reception, and I was asked several times throughout the night if I needed a drink refill. I can only imagine how well B&S took care of our guests.
Lastly, the food. We heard from so many of our guests that the food was wonderful. A chef friend of ours helped us choose our menu and when he saw the options, he was impressed. Particularly impressive was the burrata option for the salad course, and the duck breast and sea bass for the main course.
We are so happy we found B&S. Thank you Leslie and Katherine!
