Sondra was incredible! We never been to the Outer Banks so hiring a planner was a must. She was kind and patient throughout the whole process. She recommended the best vendors and together they gave us the wedding of our dreams! If you are looking for a stress free wedding day I highly recommend her! -

I met Sondra in Jan 2019 at the OBX Wedding Expo and knew immediately there was no one I'd rather have coordinate my wedding. With an original date in October 2020, we were one of the COVID weddings that needed to be postponed due to regulations at the time. When I called Sondra crying, she put me at ease, found a new date that worked for all my vendors, and made sure I received all the contracts. When we needed to postpone another time, she made the process seamless again. When my florist unexpectedly canceled, Sondra searched high and low for a new florist so that I wouldn't stress about it. By the time we got to the wedding, there was no doubt in my mind that Sondra would make it the most perfect day! Between coordinating our vendors, wrangling all of the wedding party, managing our families, and executing my vision to a tee, I'm convinced that Sondra must be super-human! When searching for a wedding coordinator, it's important to find someone you can trust to execute the best day of your life seamlessly. If I were to go through the wedding planning process again, there's no one I'd trust more than Sondra coordinating! :) -

Sondra and her team were amazing from start to finish! She helped to ensure no detail was missed and assisted all day with décor and ensuring everything went without a hitch! I could not have done it without them! I would highly recommend them to anyone planning a wedding in the Outer Banks and live out of town. They were more then just helpful and worth every penny!

Thank you so much for making my daughter's wedding day absolutely spectacular! I could not have done it without you. You made the planning process simple as you coordinated with all of the vendors. I cannot emphasize how much stress Sondra took off my shoulders the day of my wedding as well as orchestrating and implementing a smooth and informative rehearsal! She rallied my large group of family and friends and my various large boxes of decor and my wedding day went so well I felt like I had done everything that I wanted to do, myself- but instead I was getting married and enjoying my day! She is a great listener and even better advisor! I couldn’t have had my wedding day without her- well I quite possibly could have, but it would have probably been disasterous! I highly recommend Sondra for planning and organizing your OBX Wedding day too!!! -

Sondra is the absolute best. She is there for you from step one all the way to the finish line. She is super organized, knowledgeable and will go over the moon to make sure your event is perfect. Planning the wedding could feel overwhelming at times, but she made sure everything was taken care of and made it a fun and easy experience. Even with all of the hiccups due to Covid-19 she made sure we had everything we wanted and more. Our wedding day was absolutely perfect thanks to all of her hard work. You couldn't find a better wedding planner. Love you Sondra! -

Somdra with OBX Affair was amazing from the beginning to the end. I couldn't have asked for anyone better. She followed my exact dream for the perfect beach wedding. She gave advice when needed and was there any time I panicked. She kept everything running smoothly the day of ans kept everyone on track. She worked her butt off setting up for the reception and even added her own touches that made it that much better. I could have never done this wedding without Sondra! Due to Covid-19 we had to change our date from April to June and eventually moved the wedding from Pirates Cove to Wilmington. Sondra knew the vision I had for our wedding and supported my decision to move the wedding. When I asked her if she would travel to Wilmington, she did not hesitate for a second and immediately was on the phone calling my other vendors to see if they would travel as well. She wanted to make sure that my special day was flawless, stress free, and nothing but amazing. She is absolutely wonderful and makes things happen when they need to. She was on top of everything and made sure every part of the wedding was perfect. She always answered my text messages and phone calls ASAP and made sure that I was not bothered at all on my wedding day. I could not have asked for a better Wedding Planner! I am beyond thankful for all of Sondra's hard work and dedication to making my wedding nothing less than perfect! -

An Outer Banks Affair -- the best ever!
All of the pre-OBX preparation was orchestrated expertly by Sondra. It would have been impossible to navigate the week without her knowledge and recommendations. Her suggested time frames leading up to the week, vendor recommendations and informative phone calls were most comforting, in our efforts to plan, minimize costs and make decisions. I enjoyed our conversations throughout.
Clearly Sondra was familiar with the Black Stallion, which also was so very helpful. A unique place, well equipped to handle groups such as ours.
Sondra all did an amazing job re-locating all of tables for the reception into the ball room, with the onset of the rain shower. Absolutely incredible. I don't know how she orchestrated that move... but, it was all done as if we had intended it to be there all along. Yes, it all worked. And, by the evening's end... most even made it outside to enjoy the lights!!
It was wonderful working with Sondra, and getting to know her through the process, then finally meeting her at the Black Stallion. And, Shelly, too.
We were so thankful for all of her efforts to help us through the week and especially the wedding. She was terrific. A calming presence, a reliable organizer, and a welcomed lead on our big day.
Thank you very much, indeed. I feel as if we became friends!!
We all are most appreciative of all that Sondra did to make our special wedding in the OuterBanks a wonderful occasion. -

If it wasn’t for Sondra my wedding definitely would not have run smoothly. Sondra was very helpful In my wedding months before the wedding. She had us run through the rehearsal perfectly! We set up everything the night before the wedding and she made the venue for the reception perfect when we came in for the first look pictures. She kept us on time throughout the wedding and make sure to correct any issues that occurred that day. She was truly perfect and I would recommend her. Even if you don’t think you need a coordinator, you should still hire her because she made sure all the final pieces were in place and made m wedding perfect! -

Sondra is absolutely amazing, and I couldn't imagine having anyone else coordinate my wedding! She responded to my (many) emails very quickly and was so professional. She turned my Pinterest ideas into something even better than I imagined. Our winter wonderland wedding theme was something out of a fairy tale. Sondra is so creative! She also met with me multiple times throughout my engagement when I needed to discuss wedding ideas with her, and she pointed me in the right direction with many of my other vendors. I highly recommend An Outer Banks Affair. -

Then we thought about it and decided to go with a day-of coordinator. Boy, are we glad we did. The sea was angry that day, my friends. The weather was so bad that our Plan A, Plan B, and Plan C wouldn't work. We had to move everything inside the beach house to make it work and Sondra really came through for us. There was no way we could have done everything on our own and we were glad to have Sondra there to help us set up and shift the layout of everything from the ceremony to the reception. It also helped that she had a good working relationship with all of the other vendors we had hired.
Although our wedding did not go exactly as we had planned, it all came off wonderfully. -

Sherry Sent on 10/24/2017I don't know what I would have done without Sondra, she was absolutely amazing! She effectively organized the entire rehearsal, and was at the event house first thing in the am to help setup everything! We had some flower complication as we traveled all the way from VA with them, and without anyone even asking she reworked all of the flowers to perfection. As the mother of the bride she took my directions an flew with it! I don't know how she pulled everything off exactly how I had dreamed and on time.

She answered all of my questions quickly, even the crazy ones, and gave great referrals for vendors we didn't already have booked. She took care of set up of the venue and it was gorgeous! Having Sondra handle everything on my wedding day allowed me to just enjoy the day with family, friends, and my new husband. I would definitely recommend An Outer Banks Affair! -

While we hired Sondra as our Day-of-Coordinator, she was great about addressing any questions or concerns that I had during the 1.5 year wedding planning process! Sondra did a fantastic job at the rehearsal and on the wedding day. I did not have to worry about vendors, set up, or logistics the day of the wedding. I literally just showed up and everything was absolutely GORGEOUS! I remembering walking into the reception and thinking "Is this my wedding?!" It was so beautiful! I couldn't have asked for anything more. My husband and I (and our families) were so pleased with everything that Sondra did for us. She made our wedding run smoothly. We couldn't have done it without her!
The biggest thing for my husband and I, was that we did not want our friends and families worrying about anything the day of the wedding, which is why we decided to hire a Day-of-Coordinator. I've been to other weddings where the coordinator is bugging the bride with questions, and family and friends are helping set up. We did not want that. What we got instead was a perfect, stress free, wedding day.

I used her for day of services. Reasonably priced is an understatement. She gave so many great recommendations throughout the process, but on the week of the wedding, I got to really see how hard Sondra truly works. Every brides nightmare is having rain on their wedding day, let alone a HURRICANE, and that is exactly what happened for mine. Sondra went right into plan B, and my husband and I didnt have to worry about a thing, and everything went perfect (other than not being able to have the ceremony on the beach!). Our bridal party was a bit rowdy, and Sondra handled us all perfectly. Highly recommend (thanks SO much again sondra!) -

Rhonda Sent on 04/21/2015Sondra is my HERO! I wish there were 1,000 stars I could give her. My wedding was at Twiddy's "The Dream" in the 4x4 area of Corolla. I debated hiring a day of coordinator because my wedding was fairly small (less than 50 guests)...I felt like I could somehow manage it all on my own; however that does not mean that the stress of coordinating all of the details is any less than a large wedding. I reached out to several wedding coordinators, Sondra was the most reasonably priced however also the most personable amongst the other wedding planners I had reached out to. Sondra was there for my rehearsal and ensured everyone and everything was prepared and in place for the next day. She is very detail-oriented and is so personable, you just feel like she is part of the family. On my wedding day, she arrived in the morning. She handled EVERY detail from reception set-up, vendor coordination, and ensuring that everyone adhered to our timetable without being pushy or over demanding. You can see by watching her in action that this is truly her passion. She FAR exceeded my expectations. Knowing she was in charge gave me the luxury of being able to spend time in our bridal suite getting hair & make-up done with my bridesmaids would feeling even a touch of stress. I knew she was on top of every detail the entire day. I would HIGHLY recommend her to any bride considering day of services OR full wedding planning. My wedding would not have been as perfect as it was without Sondra. She is a God send and I thank my lucky stars I ran across her here on Wedding Wire. I cannot sing her praises enough. We found Sondra with An Outer Banks Affair through The Knot in January 2020 while searching for a day-of coordinator for our May 2021 wedding in Duck, NC. We had most of our planning complete (vendors chosen and booked, décor and florals planned, etc.) so we decided to go with her day-of coordination package. Leading up to the wedding, Sondra helped me with some minor questions. I did have trouble getting in touch with her a few times and would have to circle back to get a response. When Sondra and I did connect, she was always friendly, helpful, and professional. However, Sondra TRULY pulled through the week/day of the wedding. Sondra communicated with all our vendors the week-of to get them coordinated, ran our rehearsal with our officiant, and came the morning of the wedding to set up all décor and run the show. I could not have asked for more on the day of! We had to make a game-time decision with our outdoor space due to the potential of rain. Sondra had a great plan B and made me feel confident in it. Luckily, we were able to do everything outdoors and Sondra did a great job of getting EVERYTHING set up- from our guest tables to décor to our amazing donut wall and dessert table! We had a MAJOR issue with our transportation, and Sondra dealt with it, so we didn’t have to and we got to enjoy our day stress-free. Although our ceremony was about 30 minutes late due to the transportation issue, Sondra got us back on schedule for our 7PM dance floor opening (which was very important to us). She knew many of our vendors personally and had worked with most of them before, which was awesome to see and it made our day seamless! I would recommend Sondra for day-of coordination to other couples getting married in the area. Sondra- thank you for helping us create the perfect day! -

Sondra was amazing at helping us make our vision work and come to Fruition. Unfortunately we were prevented from having out wedding due to the local restrictions from COVID 19. After we realized we had to cancel Sondra helped us get as much money back as possible from vendors, which proved to be a massive challenge. I would highly recommend an outer banks affair, she helped more than any series of words or characters could convey. -

Danielle Sent on 05/13/2018Hire a day of coordinator! My husband thought this was not necessary but the day after the wedding he said “that was some of the best money we spent on the wedding”. I only met Sondra once before the wedding but she perfectly brought my vision to life. I handed her a box of décor items, a few signs and boatloads of greenery and just let her work her magic and the space was perfect. I was also able to get my table linens and centerpieces from her and that was a huge help. She coordinated vendors, family and our rowdy wedding party and I never worried about a single thing on the wedding day because I knew she had it all covered. It was perfect! The value for her services from other DOC's I interviewed cannot be beat! She was one of the first vendors to arrive and last to leave. -

I want to preface this review by saying that Sondra might be the right planner for some people, depending on the type of wedding they are having. She was not the right planner for us, and we ended up switching to another local planner about 6 months before our big day.
Sondra helped set up meetings for us with local vendors and we got a lot of big decisions made early, but then we felt that she checked out. It would take days, sometimes weeks, to get a response to emails. We would set up times to check-in via phone or zoom, and those meetings would get postponed. At one point, I asked if she could help compile all of our vendors onto one document with all of the payment deadlines (we were stressed about the COVID-19 situation and needed to know our drop-dead dates to make decisions). She did this, but there were vendors missing from the list she compiled. With a weekend's worth of. events being planned for more than 100 people, we lost confidence that Sondra could be the person to make it all come together.
