Could not have had our wedding day without A Swanky Affair!
Amanda Scott and the team at A Swanky Affair made sure our wedding day ran so smoothly. It was wonderful to have utmost trust in our coordinator and to not have to worry about any of the logistics on our wedding day. From our first meeting, to our regular contact starting 8 weeks out from the day, to the day itself, Amanda helped us feel confident in our decisions and made sure all the little details were taken care of. She knew exactly what questions to ask both us and our vendors to ensure our wedding day vision came to life. And on the day, she handled all of the logistics perfectly, and not a single thing went wrong, which is incredible! -

You need a swanky affair
You always hear the wedding horror stories, of something being forgotten or missing. Want to avoid this? Then you need to hire A Swanky Affair and all your worries will be gone! I highly recommend Amanda and her team! My husband and I were looking to have the wedding of our dreams within our budget. Wedding planning and the wedding itself has a lot of details and you just can not be in control of them all. Having Amanda as our wedding coordinator was essential to us having a great wedding! Amanda was wonderful about answering my many questions and providing tips and options. Leading up to the wedding Amanda covers all details and final contact with your vendors! A HUGE HELP AND ESSENTIAL TO A SMOOTH WEDDING DAY! She knew exactly what our vendors needed and got all the final details and logistics into place. The wedding ceremony and reception layout that Amanda helps you with and lays out was a huge help and a big part of everything starting to come together in our planning. The day of the wedding she and her team were early and a calming presence to us all. They kept things moving and ensured everything was running smoothly and that we were having the best day! I never had to wonder if we were on time or worry about what was next. Amanda was always there gently guiding us through the day. I am so thankful for her help! -

Amanda Was Fabulous!
Amanda was fantastic and I would absolutely recommend her to every one of my friends. She is well-organized, highly communicative, very knowledgeable of the local wedding industry (and industry at large) and went above and beyond for our wedding day. She did everything in her job description and more to help us navigate all of the ups and downs and twists and turns with COVID (we had an October 2021 date). We couldn’t have had the wedding day we did without her. Thanks Amanda for everything!! -

Amanda is the BEST!
Amanda of A Swanky Affair is incredible! First things first, she's incredibly kind and easy to work with. But second, she makes sure that EVERY detail of your wedding is discussed and taken care of.
My now husband and I were scheduled to get married April 2020, so I'm sure you can imagine the chaos that came with rescheduling, new dates, new vendors, etc. Through every change, Amanda's attention to detail made the process smooth and manageable. She helped ease our stress and accommodated our questions and concerns.
When we finally were able to have our wedding in November of 2021, everything was seamless. The day ran so smoothly, I did not have to think about one detail. From the rehearsal to the ceremony, everything turned out beautifully and Amanda was a big part of this.
Overall, I highly recommend Amanda for your upcoming wedding!! -

I was a “covid bride” so I had a long journey with Amanda in 2020 and into 2021 where the big day finally happened! Amanda was AMAZING throughout it all! She is extremely professional, talented, and very knowledgeable of wedding planning and making sure things go smooth and perfect for your big day! She’s the Best!!!
Amanda Scott, owner of A Swanky Affair, was a huge help as we navigated the challenges of hosting our daughter’s wedding at a very large and very busy venue. We especially appreciated her timely and efficient communication skills. While dealing with some other vendors who did not respond at all (or took days/weeks to respond) to our questions and concerns during the planning process, it was a pleasure to always receive her responses either immediately, or within 24 hours. This was very, very important to us. Amanda was efficient, knowledgeable, and extremely organized, with a focus on detail. And very important: she was calming and reassuring during those moments when panic would arise, which inevitably occur during the planning of a wedding. Amanda was on point thru all the Zoom calls, phone calls, text messages, emails and venue planning sessions we scheduled throughout our year of planning. We were blessed to have her as our wedding coordinator and appreciate all she did to help our daughter realize the wedding of her dreams. Thank you, thank you, Amanda!!! -

Wow Oh Wow!!
Amanda.. Where do we begin? She was perhaps the most essential part of our entire day! My friends and family kept asking if she would travel all over the country to be their day of coordinator because she was so efficient and great at what she does. Not only did she execute our wedding perfectly, but she did it in the midst of a pandemic. She was also incredibly inclusive, as we were a same-sex couple. She made my husband and I feel so welcomed and safe, which was an important part of our day. I couldn't recommend Amanda and A Swanky Affair more. -

Amazing!
Amanda did an amazing job as our wedding coordinator. We enjoyed working with Amanda from the moment we met her. She is very upfront with what she does and communicates everything in a very clear and effective way. Amanda made sure everything was lined up with all of our vendors and made sure that all of our ducks were in a row. Amanda made a clear and simple timeline for the wedding party and family to follow the day of our wedding. The rehearsal went smooth and the whole wedding weekend was a great success. We highly recommended Amanda from A Swanky Affair as your wedding coordinator. -

Excellent wedding planner!
I did quite a bit of research finding a wedding planner for my daughter’s wedding in Chapel Hill and I can say unequivocally that Amanda was the right choice! With my daughter busy in Pharmacy School and me living in Florida I knew I needed someone who we could both count on to get things done, but without either of us giving up complete control. Amanda’s a la carte services style is brilliant. It allowed us to pick and choose specific things we needed her for while allowing us to take care of the planning we felt comfortable doing ourselves. Amanda asked all the right questions, made all the right suggestions and was instrumental in helping my daughter’s vision become a reality. Even though we handled a few of the details on our own, Amanda was able to effortlessly dovetail our efforts with hers.
Amanda provided us with a very specific budget and timeline which proved to be invaluable throughout the planning process. We knew exactly when decisions needed to be made and we even managed to stay under budget. Amanda set up meetings with vendors, helped with contracts, coordinated with the venue and kept us calm and on track. Her attention to detail is remarkable. Knowing that she had things under control at all times allowed us to enjoy the wedding planning process with very little stress. Amanda is calm and reassuring and there seems to be no problem to which she cannot find the answer.
By the day of the wedding, everything had been so perfectly planned and we felt so confident in Amanda’s handling of everything that we were able to relax and enjoy the entire wedding weekend. On the wedding day Amanda struck the perfect balance of being right there when we needed her but was not in any way overbearing. The wedding was beautiful and so much fun. We didn’t have to worry about a single thing, because we knew it was being taken care of by our fabulous wedding planner!
You might think that once the wedding is over, Amanda is done. In our case she was not. There was some sort of miscommunication among the staff at our venue and they threw out all of our flowers at the end of the reception. We had intended to use them the next day at a brunch. Although the flowers could not be recovered, Amanda stepped in on our behalf and in the end the venue gave us a significant compensation for the error.
Amanda is easy going and a joy to work with but she is also confident and competent. If you’re looking for someone who can help to make your wedding both beautiful and stress free, you can’t go wrong with Amanda.

Absolute BEST decision I made. She is truly AMAZING! HIRE HER.
I don't know where to begin- I felt a little crazy wanting to hire a planner/coordinator since I wanted a more laid back casual thing and on the less expensive side and thought I would save money doing it all myself...but as soon as I started emailing vendors- I knew I had no idea what I was doing and I needed HELP! She really put everything in perspective for me- managed my expectations and helped me with a budget so we quickly were able to eliminate some things once she was able to give us a general idea of cost since we really had no idea. She helped with the Venue selection which she knocked OUT OF THE PARK and I never would have found if not for her. Same with the flowers, catering and so much else- She knew EXACTLY which vendors to recommend who fit my style perfectly. Nailed it. There is just so much to look through it's overwhelming and hard to know- so to know she trusts them was SO helpful. She was so organized, helped think of everything and really made the planning process fun and easy. And OMG my wedding reception. It was full of so much joy because I did not have to worry about all those little details. I had the best time with my family and friends. ZERO STRESS- pure excitement! So much funnnnnn. And that is totally priceless. It truly was the best day- never thought I would say something so cheesy! When I filled out her questionnaire, one thing I put was I did not want was "perfection" (like not overly polished or too formal/stuffy) but it was totally my kind of perfect totally thanks to her. I can't thank her enough. :) She is a wonderful planner and person!-

Couldn't have done it without her!
STOP! Seriously, you don't need to look any further than Amanda Scott. If you're looking for someone who is organized, has an eye for small details without losing sight of the big picture, and will make your wedding party/family feel prepared and excited (I had a very nervous Dad over here!) but keeping everyone on schedule...this is your wake up call!
I chose to work with Amanda as my day of coordinator (which, you're in luck because this really means month of coordinator) because I was really enjoying the planning process but knew day-of, I wouldn't want to be telling vendors where to set up and getting frantic phone calls because one of the groomsmen forgot his coat. Starting 5 weeks out from our wedding, Amanda began integrating into the process. I sent her all of my vendor contracts and other important documents, which she was able to review and contact all vendors to get the ball rolling. Her response time is insane...not once did it take her more than a day to respond to me...many times within a couple hours or even minutes. Talk about putting my mind at ease. Instead of fielding questions about linens and guest count from 10+ vendors, everyone went through her and that streamlined everything so well and really eliminated any stress I was told by countless people to be prepared for. We created a detailed timeline for the day, which she swiftly shared with vendors and the wedding party/immediate family (during the rehearsal she ran...again To. A. Tee.) The day of couldn't have been smoother and all I had to focus on was getting ready with my girlfriends, getting MARRIED to my husband, and dancing the night away.
So not only is she good at her job logistically, but she has the perfect personality for the job. She is so kind and warm, putting everyone at ease, but also had something about her where you could tell she means business! The perfect combination to keep everything on track but still so enjoyable from start to finish. I couldn't recommend her more highly. -

Amanda provided month-of coordination services for my wedding, and working with her was one of the best decisions I made while planning my wedding. I had hired most of my other vendors, but didn't know how everything was going to come together and I didn't want all of the details to fall on me and my family on my wedding day. At first, I was worried that hiring a coordinator was an extra expense and wasn't sure that I really needed one, but after meeting with Amanda, I knew I needed her help! She knows her stuff, and I could tell that she knew exactly what I needed, and that everything would go smoothly under her direction.
When I sent all of my other vendor contracts to Amanda for review, she thought of things that never would have crossed my mind. She provided great feedback and helped me with key decisions related to the wedding day. She was super responsive to every question/email/text I had. Our rehearsal was quick and easy, and everything on the wedding day was flawless (if there were any issues, I still don't know about them to this day because she just handled things!). She was there super early helping other vendors get everything delivered and set up and was around every time I needed something or had a question.
In the end, our wedding was everything that we wanted, and I don't know how I could have done it without Amanda. She had worked with most of my other vendors before, and having a vendor team that knew each other and worked well together made things even better. If you want to fully enjoy your wedding day with no stress, you need Amanda! -

Let me start by saying, I was one of those brides that brides that thought, "why in the world would I pay for a coordinator- I'm organized!" Then I began working in the wedding industry and found myself elbows deep in wedding details for several weddings all at once. I am the Assistant Manager at The Cookery (here in Durham) and my husband and I could not have wished for things to run more seamless with Amanda. I have seen her lead rehearsals, discuss family matters, and run intricate weddings. I worked with her professionally, before personally, and that is how I knew we had to have her! She booked us around the 6 month out mark and allowed me to check-in anytime I needed (via email) with any questions I had. Like, "what do most people do about XYZ?" At the 1 month out mark her services really came to life! We began communicating daily, confirming the timeline, vendors set-up locations, breakfast for the bridal party, etc. Amanda was extremely quick to respond, professional, timely, and was always confident. She made us feel comfortable in any decision we made, because she would simply get it done on the day of. After working on the "other side" of this industry, I do not feel as though words truly explain how important Amanda was to our day. She managed it all, and yes, I was a DIY bride so there was a lot to manage! 4-5 days before the wedding, she came to my in-laws house and loaded her car with boxes full of vases, photos, ribbon wands, champagne flutes, etc. Our family members keep saying, "Wow, she really was worth every penny!"
You impressed us all, Amanda! Thank you for everything.

Amanda was simply THE BEST. Originally, I had no intention of hiring a wedding coordinator, but as the wedding date got closer, I realized that it would be in our best interest to have some help on the day of. From our first conversation, I could tell that Amanda was incredibly organized, responsive, kind, and friendly. It wasn't in our original budget to hire her, so we moved some things around to make room for her. Absolutely the best money we spent. If you're debating about whether or not to hire a coordinator, or Amanda for that matter, I say just DO IT. It is worth every thing. We hired her for day of coordination, which begins a month before the wedding. She asked me questions about things I hadn't even thought about! She led our rehearsal which was so important as we had no idea what we were doing. On the day of our wedding, Amanda kept us all on track with timing, she made sure all the vendors had everything as requested, bustled my dress, and even had an emergency kit which came in super handy because I got red lipstick on my dress right before the ceremony! I cannot recommend Amanda highly enough. I can't even imagine what our wedding day would've been like without her. THANK YOU AMANDA!! -

Preparing for my daughter's wedding in Durham was filled with challenges, as both she and her fiancé lived out of the country, and I (as MOB) lived out of town. However, the best decision we made was to hire Amanda Scott with A Swanky Affair to help us navigate the process. Amanda's familiarity and comfort with the Durham area alleviated any need for us to individually investigate and interview the large number of potential vendors there. After understanding the style of the wedding and the bride's and groom's preferences, she was able to simplify the decision process on many levels. Amanda was prompt and professional for the entire planning process, and her services for the rehearsal and for the day of the wedding were superb and allowed the MOB to relax and enjoy the weekend. I highly recommend Amanda and A Swanky Affair.

My daughter was recently married in Durham. Since both families and her fiancé were out of town and she was starting her pediatric residency at Duke, a wedding planner was a must. The young couple spoke with a few wedding planners and chose Amanda Scott of A Swanky Affair. Amanda was the perfect combination of low key (for my stressed out, long work hours daughter) and very organized (for the "I am trying not to be overbearing but I am way out on the west coast" mother). Amanda provided a monthly check list which my daughter and her fiancé were able to handle fairly well. She handled anxious emails from California with reassuring replies. But the best of all was the rehearsal and day of care she gave us. She worked so well with our priest and church, had a detailed time line for all involved parties, and was quietly and calmly everywhere on the wedding day keeping everything running smoothly. We all relaxed and so enjoyed the day and suddenly it was over! But there was Amanda and her sweet assistant packing everything up and getting it to our car allowing us to just savor the memory of a great day! I highly recommend A Swanky Affair to plan your event! Thanks Amanda!! -

Hiring Amanda Scott was the best decision made in my daughter's wedding. She handles as many or as few details as you need, all with professionalism that comes with being highly knowledgeable and organized. So many vendors assured me that we were in great hands with Amanda as our wedding planner. Bride, groom and all family are from out of state and with Amanda's guidance, the "destination" wedding in Durham ran without a hitch! We were able to relax and enjoy the entire day because, with Amanda's guidance, we had checked off every box and she was subtly making sure everything ran like clockwork. Put your mind at ease - just hire Amanda. -

Amanda Scoot is the best wedding/event planner ever. Her knowledge of all things pertaining to planning a wedding is outstanding. She can do it all from big picture to the smallest detail. Amanda came recommended by friend in the industry, and I cannot thank them enough. Amanda was able to take my vision of my wedding and make it into reality.
At first I was kind of skeptical as it's not know if I truly needed a wedding planner, but after talking to Amanda I realize that I wanted her to be there on my day with us. She has amazing insight, the ability to understand what you're saying even though you may not be saying the right words, is highly organized, friendly, so funny, and just has the ability to take what you want and make it come to life. From going with me to meet vendors, to helping me pin things on Pinterest, just showing me different reference points online, Amanda truly went above and beyond what was asked of her so that I could get the wedding I have always wanted.At one point the week of my wedding I got sick with the flu, and Amanda offered to run all of my errands for me so I could stay home and get better for the wedding day.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Amanda as a wedding or event planner. She is absolutely amazing and will make your day incredibly memorable and wonderful! -

Amanda is a serious professional! I have to admit, my husband and I were not easy customers. We live in NYC, we work long hours and answer emails rarely (but expected our emails to be answered promptly), we had no idea what we wanted for our wedding (other than that is should be "very nice"), we wanted the best Durham had to offer and we also wanted to know that we were paying the best price for it and we made crazy requests. Not only did Amanda deal with all of our requests like a pro, she had the experience and the intuition to take our limited guidance and weave it into an amazingly beautiful wedding that was exactly what we wanted. I do not regret a single cent that I spent on the wedding at her suggestion and though I saw certain elements of my wedding for the first time when I got to the venue on my wedding day - it was all exactly as I pictured it in my head. There were many times in the wedding process where I wonder how people plan a wedding without a good wedding planner. My wedding would not have been the same if we didn't have Amanda - we simply wouldn't have known what our options were. Furthermore, I firmly believe Amanda saved us a ton of money by introducing us to a up-and-coming vendors who charged less, telling us what items to cut because guests would never care, and telling us when a vendor is over charging. She is very prompt with calls and emails. She takes time to get to know the bride and groom to see what they envision. Amanda was the best hire we made for our wedding, and I would hire her again for triple the price. She’s that good. Amanda is incredibly detail oriented. She has so much experience with this that she has seen it all and that’s a huge benefit. She knows the good and the not so great vendors, and she can really make recommendations based on whatever you have in mind. Something that I loved about Amanda--- never once did she TELL me what to do. She would give a number of ideas, but in the end she truly let me make the decisions, and never once did I feel I was being pressured into one direction or another. She did however steer us from two really big bad decisions that we almost made and I am so grateful that she did that. She was awesome at keeping everything on track, and giving us regular updates on what needed to happen when. She was also great at coordinating all the vendors, both in terms of payments and day of schedule. I’m SO glad she handled all that. She’s super professional and very direct, which worked really well for me.
One other thing I wanted to mention—for the day of the wedding. SHE IS A ROCKSTAR. All the vendors were on time, everything was somehow exactly like what I envisioned, and Amanda somehow made even those last minute problems work out. She also kept everything running smoothly and on schedule. (I didn’t even know a wedding schedule was a thing! But it is SO worth it!) My Mom didn’t even stress that day, and I thought she would be a total disaster to be honest. But by that point she trusted Amanda completely, and there was zero stress. My parents also had worked with Amanda to plan some little surprises for my husband and I over the course of that day, including people who I didn’t know were on the guest list, surprise singers, and a wonderful artist that painted our wedding. I didn’t have a clue about ANY of that. Amanda had to keep up with that, and somehow not tell me! I’m really not sure how she did it. -

I came across Amanda's name when looking for wedding planners in the Durham area and was immediately told by friends and family that she was the BEST wedding planner in the area. From our very first phone conversation, I knew she would be absolutely invaluable to the planning process. Needless to say, she lived up to her stellar reputation in the months that followed. She got to know me and my style and helped me select from vendors that were within my budget and fit with my Duke Gardens wedding. She helped organize receipts and contracts, drew up both a budget and planning timeline, and made sure that all the vendors that I was working with gave me the best prices and the highest quality work. When one vendor planned to charge me extra to set up chairs at the wedding when the venue refused to, she knew the venue contract so well that she remembered they had promised to do so, saving me several hundred dollars. She saved me money with many other vendors as well, and she also kept me sane while I attempted to plan a wedding from out of town while in the midst of an incredibly busy work year. From the far-ahead planning to the day of coordination, Amanda's hard work and dedication to my event was unparalleled; she is one of the best in the industry (my in-laws said she was the best of the three planners that they had worked with for their children's weddings). She knew all the vendors in the area, their ins and outs, pros and cons. Every single vendor I worked with seemed to breathe a sigh of relief when I told them I was working with Amanda - "she's the best", the all remarked. The wedding day itself went incredibly smoothly, and was more perfect than I ever could have imagined. I could never have done it without her, and I would recommend her to any friend or family member without a moment's hesitation. -

Amanda was suggested as a resource to my (now) husband and I by an acquaintance who is also a part of the wedding industry in North Carolina. We had just moved to the area from the Midwest, starting new jobs and knew nothing about The Triangle … let alone how and where to start planning a wedding!! Amanda was a godsend. Her al la cart options helped us build a package that allowed Amanda to be hands on from the beginning to the moment the last guest boarded the bus at the end of the reception. Where I believe Amanda truly excels is her attentiveness to the couple. While we were getting married in our new “home state,” it was considered a destination wedding for the majority of our guests – we wanted to be cost conscious and not go crazy with the budget, but also wanted to throw a great party knowing that many people had traveled to celebrate the day. If you’re in the middle of planning a wedding, you know this is not an easy combination of requests. Amanda really listened to our vision and was able to fill-in the gaps when we didn’t know the correct approach. She always made sure to check costs with us before proceeding with any contract – her guidance and suggestions were spot-on and really crafted the event, but we always felt like we were in control of the final decision. Throughout I found the entire wedding planning process very overwhelming. Amanda truly listened and was always willing to contribute more or less depending on how comfortable I felt making the decision. Not only did I fully trust her judgement of the industry, but I knew she understood our vision and felt extremely confident with her at the helm. Amanda also helped match us with top notch vendors, everything from the photography to the cake was amazing. We have had so many positive comments about our day from guests, even months later and we contribute all of it to Amanda. I highly recommend working with A Swanky Affair ... you can’t go wrong! -

I was busy trying to graduate from two graduate programs while planning for my wedding so needless to say I didn't have a ton of time to devote to wedding planning. Having Amanda as a wedding planner was a huge time-saver for me. She was always on-time, professional, had great advice, and was really easy and fun to work with. She was able to help us identify ways to save money while still achieving the look that we wanted. On the day of the wedding everything went very smoothly and the reception space was set up exactly how we imagined it. When it was looking like we were going to run out of liquor for our signature cocktail, she ran out to the liquor store and made sure that we would have enough for the the rest of the night. Having Amanda help us coordinate our wedding really allowed my husband and I to enjoy the day. I would highly recommend Amanda!!! -

I honestly don’t understand how any weddings happen without Amanda. She’s the most organized person I’ve ever encountered. We live 500 miles from our wedding venue, and she scheduled all the meetings we needed to have over one weekend so we wouldn’t have to travel too much, then she took care of everything else either by email or phone. She is clever about making a budget work and honest about what should you should splurge and save on. Her connections with vendors allow her to get discounts for her clients. She responds to emails and phone calls in about 30 seconds. Our wedding day went so smoothly thanks to her, and it was wonderful to be able to enjoy the day without worrying about the details. It was above and beyond my expectations! -

Throughout the planning process, Amanda was attentive, organized and thoughtful. She understood our vision for the day and did everything she could to help make that dream a reality. She provided helpful tips and resources that smoothed out the process and kept us on track. We so appreciated her answering our many questions and e-mails with her generous knowledge. Her recommendations for vendors were always on point. She had an a-la-carte option that allowed us to choose a planning package that worked best for us. Her timeline and "all-knowing" folder was a lifeline. She made sure all of our vendors knew where to go and took the reigns of the rehearsal so that all our attendants and family knew what to do. The day of our wedding went so smoothly, and I have no doubt that it was in large part because of Amanda's hard work behind the scenes.

I could not have made it through the wedding planning process without Amanda! I hired her for her "weekend of" planning services, and she started preparations about a month out. I had NO IDEA how many details were involved in executing a wedding! Amanda is extremely professional, one of the most efficient and professional people I have ever met. When we were planning a wedding from out of state, we knew we would need some help coordinating the day-of. From our first phone call, I immediately clicked with Amanda. She was enthusiastic, and had great tips on how to implement our ideas. She has totally customizable service, meaning you can choose the exact aspects you're looking for, within your budget.
We hired Amanda for the day-of coordination - my fiance and I wanted to do the planning ourselves, but we needed help to make sure everything went smoothly on the actual day. We also added on catering guidance. Amanda worked in catering previously, and has a good handle of what to look for in catering contracts. She set up tastings with local caterers, and was able to accommodate our short trip in town.
We met with Amanda at the venue a couple times, and she was always very responsive via email and phone. I know she handles a lot of events, but I never felt rushed.
On the wedding day, everything went smoothly! I heard of tiny incidents after the fact that she took care of immediately. It was great to know that our wedding was in extremely capable hands, and my family and I could just enjoy the day. From the small things (making sure I had my shoes and phone in the getaway car) to the big things (making sure everything was on schedule!), she handled it all with ease and a smile.
She has a great reputation in Durham, and I can attest that she lives up to the hype! I cannot recommend her enough! -

I thought that I could plan a wedding without a wedding planner while working full time and being in graduate school, but I was totally wrong. Amanda and the Swanky Affair team made everything easy and perfect! We decided to go with the "month-of" planning which was perfect and paid for itself! Amanda coordinated everything with my vendors and made sure they knew the when and the where; all I had to do was find the vendors although she offered great suggestions! She made sure everyone knew where they needed to be for the rehearsal, rehearsal dinner, and day of.
Amanda met with us numerous times at our venues and made sure she was aware of everything we wanted. The morning of the wedding, Amanda picked up all the food I ordered for the wedding party. She then came by my house and picked up everything that needed to be at the chapel and the reception; she even brought a steamer and survival kit for the wedding party.
Amanda, our caterer, and florist all set up the reception. It was beautiful and exactly how we wanted it. The night went extremely smooth because Amanda had everything so organized. All my husband and I had to do was enjoy the entire day. My family also got to enjoy the day because Amanda did everything! After the wedding, my parents did bring items back to our house, but Amanda had everything packed up for them so it didn't take long at all. Everyone bragged about how amazing the Swanky Affair team was. You all need Amanda by your side; she goes above and beyond what you pay for! I wish I had her by my side every day :) -

Wonderful does not describe Amanda's amazing personality and skills. I cannot say enough about Amanda. She is fantastic!!! From the day that we first met, she just simply got me. It felt as if she had known me since childhood and knew exactly what I would like or dislike. She understood my wedding day vision and maintained that focus all throughout the planning process for our special day. There was in instant connection with Amanda in our initial meeting and our personalities simply clicked well. I walked away from that meeting feeling confident that everything would be well taken care of. My instincts proved right. Not only was everything taken care of well, it was superbly done too. It was perfection to the very last inch of detail as one of our guests described it. We couldn’t have asked for a better Wedding Planner, she knows what she is doing and she is GREAT at it! Friends and family were amazed at how calm we seemed in the planning of our wedding. Amanda made it easy. Actually, she made it better, just exactly how every woman dreams of her wedding to be: nice and smooth.

It's hard for me to put into words about Amanda, "Amazing Amanda" about covers it, but I will do my best for this review (she truly deserves it)! As I began the wedding planning process for our daughter Leigh & Brian I knew I would need someone to help out on the day of to coordinate vendor setup, timelines, etc. Amanda was recommended from a friend of our daughter who had worked for her as an assistant in college who told me she was amazing. After an initial coffee meeting with Amanda I booked her services. Amanda provided us all with many fabulous vendor resources to select from. She kept us in touch constantly during our daughter's 6 month engagement...responding to my emails, texts, phone calls, vendor questions, & reaching out with monthly checklists to make sure we were on track. Leigh & Brian chose a unique reception space that needed a lot of detail to turn it into an elegant event space. Amanda helped us select everything down to the last plate and fork, and spotlight on the Cake. The space was magical, it far exceeded anything I had imagined! I could not have been more pleased with how amazing the venue looked...all thanks to Amanda's design & coordination of other vendors. We had such a wonderful time working with Amanda to plan our wedding! We were planning from MA and DC and couldn't make it down to NC much, but Amanda made the whole process fun, easy, and flawless! We hired Amanda for our wedding day coordination & couldn't have been happier. I am a planner, but wanted to not think about or worry about anything on my wedding day and I didn't. Amanda was great even before the wedding, I was able to communicate with her via email and ask her questions about the wedding, venue, recommendations in the area , about 5 months out from the wedding date. When it came down to crunch time , she was on top of everything, she checked over every contract, caught things I would never have noticed (minor misses- nothing major). Planning a wedding in NC from GA was suppose to be hard. Well, not w/ Amanda! From the moment we started talking on the phone I knew I was in great hands. My ENTIRE planning experience was fun and stress free.. She knows all the right people, knew where to save me money and kept me on track every month on where I needed to spend my time. I want to get married all over again just so I can keep talking on the phone and planning trips to NC to see her. I can not recommend A Swanky Affair enough... my dream wedding became so much more than I ever could have imagines because of Amanda. I can't thank her enough. -

We hired A Swanky Affair for our day of coordination. Amanda Scott is fantastic! She is incredibly, responsive, professional, and beyond helpful. She thought of everything that I had never even considered. She made our wedding day so seamless and easy for us. All we had to do was have fun and enjoy the best day of our lives and A Swanky Affair took care of all the rest! -

Amanda of A Swanky Affair was the Day of Wedding Coordinator for my daughter's wedding on August 10, 2013. I cannot express enough how valuable her service was! Amanda started her "day-of" service weeks before the wedding, and because of that she was able to find out the limo service we had hired was nowhere to be found. Amanda took care of it immediately by providing us with a reliable, less expensive limo company who we were extremely pleased with. A Swanky Affair was on top of every detail before, during and after the wedding & reception. They were efficient, courteous and well-organized. Their professionalism and reliable service allowed us to enjoy our day and be free of worries. All gifts and items were packed safely into our vehicles, and not one thing was missing. Hiring A Swanky Affair was the smartest thing we could have done. I will use A Swanky Affair for any event I have in the future! Truly a Five-Star Business! -

When we got engaged in November 2012, we knew 2 things: we wanted to get married soon, and we didn't want to get married in our hometown of Philadelphia. It didn't take us long to settle on a destination - Duke Gardens, on the campus of my alma mater, and a date - July 20. So....how does a couple plan a wedding in Durham from Philadelphia in 9 months time, especially when the bride is a Type-A, control freak? Easy - call Amanda at A Swanky Affair.
I knew that I had a lot of moving parts with this wedding (caterer, rentals, florist, cake, photographer, out of town guests, DJ, etc.) and I also knew that I wanted to enjoy the party with my new husband, so a wedding coordinator was essential. When I met Amanda in January, she instantly struck me as professional, organized, and detail oriented. Just the kind of person that I could trust to be on top of things. We hired Amanda to provide day-of coordination services. She took over about a month before the wedding and was a true God-send. She organized all of our vendors, established the timeline for the day, worked with our photographer on the photo schedule and shot list, and basically just ran the show the last few weeks, which kept me from stressing out and driving my fiancé crazy leading up to the wedding!
When the big day arrived, many people commented on how calm I seemed. Of course I was calm - I had Amanda! Our wedding was executed flawlessly. Everyone knew where they needed to be and what they needed to do. The day ran exactly according to plan and was absolutely perfect, and I got to act like a guest at my own wedding and truly enjoy the happiest day of my life. For that, I am forever grateful to Amanda.

Amanda is so amazing, she made our wedding look so beautiful. She took care of every single detail & eased so much stress for me. I couldn't have done it without her. I am so happy that I found her. Our wedding guests were so happy with her & kept complimenting her work.

Amanda's help with my daughter's wedding proved invaluable as we were planning from quite a distance, were having the ceremony and reception at different locations, and had the potential for weather to disturb the outdoor ceremony. She was warm and friendly and had ideas and answers for every question that arose. Even more importantly, the entire weekend was executed with myself being able to rest and enjoy...knowing that she knew the schedule and details inside/out and would gently but firmly keep everyone on track and calm!
We would highly recommend her without hesitation!! Joy -

I used Amanda throughout our year-long planning process, and it was the best wedding decision I made! We were planning from out of town and with just a few visits to Durham she made us a beautiful wedding. All of the vendors that Amanda recommended were fantastic as well. Our wedding was so wonderful and everything ran so smoothly. I was actually able to enjoy my day to the fullest thanks to her! I would recommend her a thousand times over! -

We're so glad we decided to work with Amanda for the wedding! We used her mainly for the last month of organizing vendors and the detailed timeline for the day and then for sure the week and especially the day of to make the wedding come together. I know I would not have enjoyed my day nearly as much as I did if I did not have Amanda there to manage all of the details that would have derailed me - it made all the difference to me. Amanda was a real reassuring and fun addition to our wedding planning experience and as I said, it made all the difference in how things went. -

Amanda of A Swanky Affair was a delight to work with. We had her as our day-of coordinator, and she saved us so many hassles and logistical nightmares since she took care of so much for our relatively simple event. She kept us on time for photos and our other few specific events, which was great -- left to our own devices, we would have just mingled with our guests and never gotten around to anything else!
While we had most of the sites and vendors already selected when we engaged Amanda, she was able to provide us with lists of other potential vendors as we identified a few additional needs. These included people that she'd worked with before and others, so that we could pick the best fit for our event. We really appreciated her objectivity and her experience.
Planning a wedding is stressful. Amanda makes it less so, since you know the day itself will be in great hands. -

Amanda was the best money we spent for our wedding!!!! My husband and I were able to completely and utterly enjoy our special day without any worry about everything being done right! From the beginning Amanda listened to what we wanted and how the wanted our wedding to go. She was great with suggestions on things we hadn't thought of (i.e. ordering floor length linens). She was extremely organized and I got constant emails updating me on what she was doing so I never worried whether things were getting done or not. We chose to have her for day of services--- but it really is like the month before services with all the time she put in! The last 2 weeks before my wedding were actually stress free!!! I kid you not! I could not have asked for a more wonderful planner! -

We used Amanda as a day-of coordinator but she provided services well beyond that. She has a great gift for organizing and attends to every detail, however small. She's respectful and professional, but beware -- if you try to put off making necessary decisions and getting things done, she'll be regularly reminding you. That is her job, and she does it well. -
