Well what can I say? Our eyes met and there was an instant attraction, love at first site, and Romeo and Juliet kind of romance...................NOT!! Lol. No not exactly. We met about 8 years ago. We were both in our sophomore year at Jackson State University. Coincidently, my roommate and his roommate had just started dating. My friend mentioned that she knew someone who wanted to meet me. Al and I had seen each other around campus before, in the laundry room or just hanging on the yard, but never spoke or approached one another. Finally one day I was with my roommate and we made a quick stop by Al’s and his roommate’s apartment. This is where we met. Al and I sat on the couch and started out with the usual small talk. “Where are you from?”, “what’s your major?” etc. It was very comfortable and I found myself unexpectedly wowed. Al was not the typical college guy trying to party. He spent his days mostly studying or working out. He has a love for physics and biology. I was very impressed by his intelligence and became drawn to his quiet, shy-like personality. We exchanged numbers that night and went out on a few lunch dates and soon a relationship bloomed. I graduated and moved to Memphis for a job. He graduated and moved to Atlanta. With all the travel and distance between us our relationship suffered and it came down to us giving each other space and taking some time off. We still kept in touch, checking on one another every now and then. I planned to go visit a couple of times with friends but they always bailed for one reason or another. Finally, I decided I would go visit my friend Al no matter what! That was the best decision! We reconnected during that visit and I later moved to Atlanta with him. We bought a house after Thanksgiving 2009 and got engaged Sept 2010!
