Kalei and Mehmet

We met summer of 2008 through a Facebook application. After chatting daily, for hours, over a course of several months, we decided it was time to meet. Mehmet was living in Boston and getting ready to make a trip to his home in Istanbul for a month and we wanted to make sure what we had was worth waiting for when he got back. Kalei was going to school in Geneseo and our first face-to-face meeting happened at the Rochester Bus Station August 11th, 2008. Mehmet took an eleven hour bus ride, stayed in Geneseo for twelve hours, and then made the return eleven hour bus ride back to Boston and he was off for Turkey the following day! Quite a trip! While Mehmet was in Geneseo, we ate Manti, drank tea, and sat on the front porch just enjoying each other's company on a warm, clear August night. I don't think either of us will forget that night. From there on, Mehmet made a couple more trips to Geneseo and Kalei to Boston. Kalei was graduating college in May 2009 and so we made the decision to move in together, the big next step! I think we were both nervous about it at first, it would definetley be a whole different experience than visiting each other once every other month for a week. Things became even more serious after a couple trips to Rome, NY and Istanbul to be introduced to family and friends! Late July 2009, we moved in together in metro Boston, but not quite settling down until October. Several months later Kalei came home from work (after a few anxious phone calls from Mehmet to make sure she was coming right home) to find the stairs and walkway to our front door aligned with lit red candles! Mehmet greeted Kalei at the front door dressed to the T and when Kalei opened the door...there were more candles, a ring, and a nervous man . I think you know what happened next! Now, we are counting down the days until August 20th and can't wait to make a lifetime of memories together! =D
