IMO it makes sense to mix guests so that the usual friends/family members don't sit together and it ensures that they will not stay at their table all night if they want to mingle with their usual...
Are you having one? Our ceremony room is not that big and our officiant has a pretty loud voice. Weddings I have attended did not have a mic. It will cost me extra to rent from venue.
