Christian and Carey met by complete accident with a dash of devious trickery.  Christian had stopped in at a local bar where Carey was working her way through school at the University of North Texas.  He struck up a conversation with one of the bar regulars, Greg, who instantly took a liking to Christian.  Greg insisted that Christian meet Carey, thinking how well the two would get on, or perhaps just being a meddlesome old man!  It worked and by the end of the conversation, Carey was quite impressed with the tall, dark and handsome man sitting at the bar.  When Carey left the conversation to return to work, Greg, the regular, came rushing over to her, saying that Christian wanted her number, and handed her Christian's number on a cocktail napkin.  Flattered, Carey wrote her's down and Greg the-regular-now-the-messenger delivered it to Christian.  It would be more than a year before the couple would discover that not only did Greg tell Carey that Christian was asking for her number, but that he also had told Christian that Carey had asked for his!  Had this seemingly random and inconsequential stranger not intervened in their lives, Carey and Christian may never have found the love that took them through years of good times, good travels and new experiences, all the way to Paris, where on Carey's 29th birthday, Christian asked her to marry him while walking arm in arm along the River Seine. We are forever thankful to Greg, the stranger, the matchmaker.  Without you, we may never have become us.
