Jackie

 Jackie and Gabriel met briefly in high school. They crossed paths many times: at the local elementary school while picking up their respective siblings, on the metro on their way to the same engineering program at George Washington University during their summers in high school, they even worked across the street from one another at their part-time jobs in high school. While very few words were exchanged, Jackie and Gabriel were very aware of each other’s existence. They went to separate colleges, miles away from each other. After her graduation from college, Jackie took a trip to Mexico to rediscover her family and her culture. During her trip, she decided to update her family and friends through facebook. Gabriel, who had recently traveled to Bolivia for similar reasons, sent his regards and inquired about catching up and sharing about their travels. Upon her return, Jackie and Gabriel decided to attend a play at the Gala Theatre in Washington, DC. Ironically, the play was titled “Blood Weddings” by Federico Garcia Lorca. The play, in Spanish, provided them with ample conversation topics and time to discover more about each other. And what a match it was! From that point on, Gabriel and Jackie spent their weekends together and were inseparable. Their families, though from different countries, are culturally fascinating and very compatible. After a year of dating, Gabriel and his family joined Jackie and her family for the usual dinner on Sundays, this time at Jackie’s house. Once dinner was finished, Gabriel asked Jackie’s father for her hand in marriage, knelt on one knee and asked Jackie if she would be his wife. Overwhelmed with joy and excitement, Jackie said yes. Through their courtship and now engagement Gabriel and Jackie have discovered that love comes in many flavors, but sharing and mixing them might lead you to discover yet another exquisite and unique flavor.
